Now look at that from an all-day pedometer steps point of view: At 5,000 steps per day, it would take you 200 days to walk 1 million steps. It takes 45 minutes to an hour to walk 5,000 steps (2.5 miles) at a brisk pace. At 8,000 steps per day, it would take you 125 days to walk 1 million steps.To convert walking steps to miles using a manual calculation, walk one lap around a 400-meter track, counting your steps as you go.
Then, multiply your total steps by 4 to arrive at a steps-per-mile calculation. As an alternative, use the odometer in your car to drive and measure out 1 mile, and then walk the mile and count your total steps.Start walking before your measured area, so you’re up to your typical walking speed by the time you start counting steps. From your “start” line, measure how many steps it takes you to get to the “finish” line. Divide your 20 feet by the number of steps it took you to get.
Your pedometer is only as good as its accuracy. Some of the free or less expensive pedometers only count an average number of steps. Test your pedometer for accuracy by attaching it to your waistband and re-setting the counter to zero. Walk and count until you reach 50 steps.

I tried 20k steps a month twice, I failed one on day 20 and one on day 18. I managed to do 22k average in july tho. Im planning to try the 20k challenge in January again.

Hubby and I start every day with a brisk 3 mile walk and have so for quite some time. The other day, I was looking through my Fitness Tracker and saw we had already walked 400 miles on this new phone!! I was shocked. Adds up!

my thought process on how to do this.
use the quads as least as possible
have a pace that allows for when you need to use the toilet, eat (continue moving but at a slower pace), and still get 100,000 steps
eat well and fairly light for days before and during (prevents need to sh*t, makes moving easier)
continue eating small and light things throughout the day, rather than large meals at once
find places that move downhill (long roads and hills) so you can dont have to lift the quads
move your arms around when you arent moving your legs (may be cheating)
charge your watch until you start the challenge
dont think about walking, think about tasks that involve moving around (laundry, vacuuming, Wii Sports (it works) )

I worked at a warehouse for 8 hours which involved standing and walking the whole time at a pretty fast pace to keep up with the quota. Even on my 10 hour shift days I don’t think I ever broke 50,000 steps. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to walk twice that amount in one day. LIKE HOLY HECK MARK

I know what Mark’s talking about physically cant move his legs cause I biked 12 miles to my friends house for some damn reason and I remeber as I was tried continuously biking to 711 the same day my legs Acually locked up in a bent position, now I have never experienced death before or know what it’s like but when I tried moving my legs and it’s just spassing out and locking up in the same position felt like rigormortis but instead of my entire body only my legs were dead. Gear What gear are you wearing? Tracking devices, heart rate, clothes. Your clothing looks heavy and I think you could benefit from some lighter tech clothing that may even be warmer in a single layer than your shirt, hoodie, jacket combo. I’ve just done 500k in 20 days in preparation for attempting this in a month or two time, I’m really tempted to try and do this in the remaining 11 days left of this month. I would need to average about 45k per day which I think I could do the main issue is six of those days I’m chained to a desk 9am-5pm. It’s very tempting to give it a shot!

that’s an incredible goal 18.33 miles per day so I’m 6’4″ I pace more than 3ft / at approximately 4 mph walking that’s a pretty good gate most would jog along with me at least occasionally so that’s 4.5 hrs to get there, that’s a pretty sure lock physical fitness gain weight loss or at least steady. All the best on your goal, go give em’ bra that’s Hawaiian for get after it brother.

What you should have done was to have 1 can…of Sweeten Condensed Milk…a 14oz can is 1300 cals…making it a great supplement for pure cals. It helps with energy if you can enjoy the taste.
Any idea yet on where you will take that 1M step? Boardwalk, NYC, or some other special location?
