Yoga and Pilates similarities Both yoga and mat Pilates can be done with little equipment. They require only the use of a mat and a few additional They both focus on using the breath properly during exercise and emphasize diaphragmatic breathing, or breathing deep Both yoga and Pilates require.Probably the most crucial difference between Pilates and Yoga is their focus on body and mind. Pilates primarily focuses on the body. Yoga, on the other hand, on combining body and mind.
Yoga does have styles that promote physical and muscular development, but it’s more a holistic way of life.Pilates vs Yoga the age-old battle. Here we explain the key differences between yoga and pilates, health benefits of each and which is the best for you.The poses and moves performed during yoga and Pilates are quite different. The amount of time spent holding them is also quite different.
Typically, in yoga, you hold poses for far longer. This allows you to fall more deeply into each pose. You often repeat the flow of these moves, which you do not always do in Pilates, adds Rich. The main difference between Yoga and Pilates is that Pilates exercises are very much focuses towards the development of core strength and movements habits that.
Though they share the same word, the moves you do in Pilates and yoga are very different. Yoga is much more repetitive and often times you can hold your poses for much longer than in Pilates. Pilates, on the other hand, usually does the move once, and really does it so that you reach muscle failure before moving onto the next target area. One of the main differences between yoga and Pilates is that yoga can be used for improving the flexibility of the body and joints.
Pilates focuses on trying to relax yet strengthen tense muscles. Try one class of each and you will quickly be able to decide which one is right for you. While Pilates is a form of exercise that was introduced to America by a German anatomist in the early 20th century, yoga is a popular holistic discipline from India. Both help you connect with your body, relieve stress and improve flexibility, control and endurance.Workout and benefits.
Pilates can strengthen the body and give it a long and lean appearance without causing the muscles to appear large and bulky. Yoga poses give the body more flexibility, increase strength and increase blood flow to the internal organs. But Pilates tends to be more focused on moves practiced on the ground vs. standing poses, and there is an emphasis on training the core in short sets (such as 10 doing reps of each move).
In yog.Overall, the biggest difference between Pilates and yoga is the ultimate goal. Yoga provides a meditative environment for you to improve your overall quality of life. It focuses on stress relief while improving your body. Pilates works from the center of your body outward.
Yoga poses also develop core strength. But yoga is more stretch and flexibility oriented, and perhaps less interested in daily movement mechanics than in expanding consciousness through movement. Pilates also increases flexibility and has a strong body/mind integrative component. The difference between the two is the degree of focus.Usually choosing between them is a matter of personal preference.
In general, the focus of Pilates is on muscular strength and yoga focuses on stretching, flexibility and spirituality. Pilates involves using exercise apparatus like small weighted balls, large exercise ball.Yoga builds strength through body-weight exercises whereas Pilates focuses more on strengthening the muscles by using the resistance of the springs when incorporating the Pilates equipment. And while both exercises are mindful, Yoga focuses more on spirituality. For me, the difference between Yoga and Pilates is simple – Pilates is based on movement and yoga on both pose and stillness.
Both have their place side-by-side. Are there any drawbacks to Pilates? There are no drawbacks to Pilates, as each exercise can be performed to the client’s ability and modified to suit injury, age, fitness levels.

Do you know if this would work for Fibromyalgia? Dealing with for 20yrs and now going to yoga, Low impact videos, But this looks like it would help nomatter What i have but dont want to hurt myself more 😉 Thanx for shareing and would be grateful for any info or video’s you can share, Thanx so much & Godbless.
I just had surgery for endo in April. I do have pain in abdomen when doing some of these moves. Feels like a burning, pulling sensation. is that because my muscles are so tight? Let me also add that I’m extremely out of shape and NEVER stretch.
Hi Jessica! Was your pain more intense at the beginning of excercise and lower later? Mine is:(

Thank you for your video. It really helps me to deal with endomestriosis.
I had a hysterectomy kept cervix and ovaries can I still do this excerise?
I did these right before bed and I feel so relaxed and ready for a good night’s sleep. Thank you so much!!
I know your intentions are well and light exercises are recommend. So the person without RA is going to know whats best for me? I used to do yoga when I was 17. But I am not 17 anymore and I feel like I’m 200 years old when I wake up in the morning (if I got sleep at all), every joint In my body feels like someone is trying to push from the inside and rip them apart. So doing this type of yoga would not be possible for most of us zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I swear to you I fell asleep typing this. I have fibromyalgia, so my short term memory is a bit rusty. I had to google how to spell fibromyalgia! How can I memorize this yoga session that I cannot do? Is my point clear? My brain is foggy 😉 P.S. it took me 2 hours to write this because of the issues I told you about…just saying…
Oh my God I dont know how to thank you for this. I had so much pain and tightness due to endometriosis and i applied castor oil packs which was a big relief and now your yoga made me feel stretch in every muscle and tendon in my abdomen felt like they came back to life..thank you so much:*
Thank to God, I find your video. A month ago I was diagnosed with cysts and my doctor recommend surgery. But I haven’t done anything, I tried to do healthy lifestyle such as eating healthy food, less-stress, and do more yoga. Thank you Jessica.
This is unrealistic for people with RA. I have done Vinhasa flowing yoga for 20 years and Hatha yoga for 46 years. Now that I have RA, my hands and wrists and knees make it impossible to do the bow or lotus. Forget Cobra and down dog even.
this is a great video thankyou. just wondering how soon after surgery could you do this video?
Thank you so much for this video,I discovered your channel about two months ago and have been doing this routine every morning before my morning jog, and at night before bed. for the first time in my life I am experiencing a pain free period, no back pain. I feel so ‘stretched’ and flexible. Thank you for helping me, it still feels so unreal, and yes i do have moderate endometriosis. but I hardly feel anything any more. My skin has cleared, I’m in a very better mood. Only now do I realize how much damage endo had done to me both physically and emotionally. God bless you
May I share this video in my fertility ecourse? With a link back of course.
By the time I was lying flat you were standing again. Guess I should have paused it…..
this is the most ridiculous video. Why is it so rushed? She does about 20 poses in 10 minutes! Completely unrealistic and not at all helpful
salam…thank you somuch jessica…v informatic video..pls tell me..could we exercise during periods &try to conceve???
What a great video! I have just been diagnosed with endometriosis with adhesions and I’m recovering from laparoscopic surgery. I have concerns about adhesions forming again and I have so much tension in my back and core as a result of chronic pain so I’m really pleased I’ve discovered this video. Once I feel ready I will be using this video regularly to manage my symptoms. Thank you so much.:)
This helped for my endometriosis pain. Thank you! What kinds of vitamins do you recommend?
Haha, once in position I might be able to do the poses but WHO is going to get me from standing to sitting and vice versa lol

I am a Patient of Ankylosing Spondytis.pls suggest some Ankylosing Spondytis exercise.
Thank you for posting this videos, I have a huge fibroid and I am working with a holistic doctor to shrink it, your videos are helping me to have more mobility in my organs
Hi, I love this video! Should I continue to use it daily during the 2WW? Thanks!
I really enjoyed doing this routine; I felt so calm and my stomach felt great after! I have 2 endometrial polyps. After a hysteroscopy, the doctor recommended surgery to remove them. I met with the surgeon, and suprisingly, he told me to wait 2 months and see if they go away! I’m doing everything in my power to make that happen. Is there a chance doing these moves can help? (I’m also going to do acupuncture, herbs, lifestyle modification, etc)
Great video, great exercises Jessica! THANK YOU!I am almost 36 years old, had 4 miscarriages in the past year and a half, two D&Cs, last D&C caused Asherman’s Syndrome (adhesions in uterus); had surgery in August 2015 (hysteroscopy with lysis of adhesions); 50% of uterus was obliterated; now suffering from thin lining which was also a problem before Asherman’s Syndrome. This whole ordeal has affected my mental health as I have been experiencing so much anxiety. I became obsessed with understanding my situation and researching ways to get better. I am now ready to meditate, do gentle exercises, stretches, etc. I also teach a Zumba class on a regular basis. Just wanted to thank you for this video and for sharing your story with people in similar situations. You are helping so many women, I am sure of that. You have a calm voice, a great way to explain the stretches/exercises…it really shows that you enjoy doing this. I will definitely share your videos with the ladies who are part of an Asherman’s Syndrome support group online (if you are ok with that; I suppose you are since they are ”public” on YouTube. Have a great evening.Lyane from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

I also had a myomectomy and appreciate you sharing these movements they have really helped me feel more supported in my midsection without all the tension. I’m curious you said you had a baby naturally, do you mean you conceived naturally or you delivered naturally, or both? Thanks again!

Hello from Prague Jessica:) I love your video and did it twice today.
I ve been trying for a baby for past 8 months and got a little bit into a stress. So trying this excercise I hope to get relaxed and calm. It worked today.
Thank you!!:)
This felt so good! Will definitely be incorporating these great stretches into my daily routine. Thank you Jessica!
I recommend you change the title of this video. I have RA and could never sit with my legs crossed like that.
Maybe it’s because I’m bow-legged but I thought people with RA weren’t supposed to cross their legs at all?
They need to burn off those $1 pizza slices in NY. I miss the pizza there!
Oh yeah, because living and walking in NYC in 2014 is totally comparable to being in a German Prison camp during the Nazi’s brutal reign of power.
sighOutside of that moronic comment this video was kinda helpful, so ty.
Hi Jessica! Would this be a good video to do throughout pregnancy?? For someone who has had Endo and wants to keep that fresh blood circulating? Thanks for any suggestions! Your video are great! ❤️

My uncle had rheumatoid arthritis from last 5 years. He was unable to walk properly and took medicines from various hospitals but got no relief. Then he came to know about Chandigarh Ayurved Centre and took treatment from there. Now he is totally fit.
Been suffering from age of 11 now 40 i dont seek medical help from no one that hasnt suffered from R.A. no doctors and no instructors theyre just making money off us they dont understand the pain, juat trash talkers
The only thing that has worked is changing my diet to mainly plants and the use of Marijuana it helps you get your appetite back and relieves pain instantly doctors give you heavy steriods and pain killers which will rui. Your body down the track.
How can a yoga instructor tell ypu what exercises help if they dont know ypur pain? If they dont suffer from your disease??
Only someone with the same experiences and suffering can truly help.
Osum….i really enjoy it…. pls do some yoga exercise for hips pain
Rheumatoid person is not allowed sqatting and sitting cross legged
I recently found your channel and it’s already become an evening ritual. Your videos address so many issues I’ve been dealing with.
I used to be very active and did a lot of swing dancing. But that changed when I met my now husband who is a disabled veteran and has rods in both ankles. He’s never discouraged me but I’ve chosen to do things we both can do and enjoy. Now I’m trying to find a balance between where I’m at and where I was. Your channel is helping tremendously.
My mom is a patient of rheumatoid arthritis. She is taking Planet Ayurveda’s Aamvatantak churna from last 2 months and now her condition is far better. It is a herbal medicine with no side effects. I recommend this product to all.
I had to stop because I couldn’t keep getting up and down off the ground. It’s not practical to lay down for one pose, stand for one pose, sit for one pose and so on. They should flow together. It’s so over the place, it did more harm than good for me and my RA is mild compared to most
This is not all that suitable for those of with RA, as well as possible hip ostoarthritis. It calls for way more flexibility than I certainly have! The vidoe is nt made to follow movement by movement, it jumps from one to the next, whereas if we are on the ground, we take a while to stand and get in position. I’m afariad this person needs a lot more insight into what RA does to our bodies.
I didn’t hear the breath mentioned until over 4 minutes in. So many missed opportunities that would have improved the participants experience of each pose. Breath instruction, breath instruction, breath instruction good intentions but more experienced needed before posting.
Thank you so much these exercises helped me so much this morning Im feeling so much better now that I moved the stagnent chi around.
I noticed when it was time to lay on your stomach And grab your ankle, the camera stayed focused on the instructor.
Just do simple poses of yoga in RA, and don’t stretch your Neck…Remember, Dont stretch your neck, as it is most vulnerable site which can make you paralysed…
Hi Jessica, just want to say how thankful I am you posted this video, its been relieving so much low back pain! Just amazing! May I ask you what kind of vitamins are you taking?
I apologize for my comments getting put on here 500 times. I honestly have no idea what happened. but she got the clicks and the $ because we wanted to better ourselves?
I apologize for my comments getting put on here 500 times. I honestly have no idea what happened. but she got the clicks and the $ because we wanted to better ourselves?
I’ve had pain for 3 years. Everything is so hard. I went to RA doc she said I didn’t have it. My right butt/hip area are so swollen it is actually hard. My left wrist is swollen. My left knee is swollen. Right knee is swollen also. I’m so tired of being in pain. Inner groin area hurt like the devil I can hardly walk.
I doubt anyone in this video has RA they all move too easily
The video is a joke. I guess you never met anyone with arthritis.
I have to say that I love this workout. I was just recently told that I have uterine fibroids by my GYN. Which I kind of figured out when I has getting very heavy periods, cramping, and stomach bloating. I am not sure what needs to be done yet, still waiting to get my ultrasound next week. I started to research more holistic ways to reduce the fibroids, or at least the symptoms caused from them. I came across your video and have been doing this once a day for almost a week now. I feel stretched, relaxed, and my lady bits feel like they are getting a nice little massage as well. I will continue to do this workout, even if or when I need surgery to remove the fibroids. Thanks for sharing.
This video is terrible. They edit from sitting to standing poses giving those of us suffering from RA no time to get into the poses. There are no transitions. This is thoughtless on their part. The asanas are supposed to flow from one to the other. They could have added more minutes for the flow. This is the last time I’ll use these videos.
I`ve got disintegrating disc`s in my back, & and allot of neck pain. Arthritis is also a problem I have. Iuse this arthritis treatment method “Rοngοdο Ruzο” (Google it) on my neck, back and sides of my body, and the pain disappears. This helps me do my daily work without disruptions. With assistance from proper diet as well as avoidance of inflammation-causing food, your condition will enhance very much..
This video is not for those with RA. I have advanced RA and there is no way I could manage the transitions from standing to floor and back up again. If the woman doing these classes had an understanding of RA she would have focused on standing positions first then allowed time to get to the floor. She would also be emphasising stretches and motion of joints such as hands wrists, feet, ankles and shoulders. Finally there is no way in hell I’d be able to do any cross legged exercises or use my body to support my weight in shoulders, knees or forearms.
My opinion is this title is click bait. This is for people who want to lose weight or improve flexibility.
Change the title or remove the video.
If you have arthritis real bad like I do, there’s no way you can get down like that.
My Absolute Recovery From Rheumatoid arthritis With Traditional Herbal Medication.
Hello, everyone. I’m James by name. It was a sad experience for me after I had found out I had been diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis. At first at the realization of the news, I was taken aback because I had never wanted to be in a position that would be difficult to handle. It was of some sad oddity to even realize that the pharmaceutical medication that was recommended was not favorable to me at all. My finger outlines were deformed and as I was hurt every single moment, the pain was unbearable and I was desperately in search of a permanent remedy to get rid of these dreadful disease called arthritis. I was soon to deviate another alternative in improving my condition naturally.
It was during my ceaseless search for a definite remedy that I stumbled across the professional works of Dr. Harry Obiego an African herbalist and natural healer whose works had surrounded natural herbs and their benefits from mostly Dr. Sebi’s theory. An information was passed online of his professional experience in healing the incurable ailments via a naturopathic process. The content of the information had elaborated that the process of his healing was traditionally and naturally oriented and that the aforementioned herbalist had successfully cured a number of victims from most viral ailments such as HIV AIDS, Arthritis, Asthma-related problems, erectile dysfunction, paralysis, hepatitis B, and many other ailments via traditional methods of healing.
For proper understanding and guidelines, I had contacted this African herbalist with whose professional directions and his recommendations I was able to receive my healing naturally without any side effects at all and under only a little period of time.
I wish to use this opportunity to reach out to any person who by faith may stumble across this piece of information and who may be facing any health challenges currently, to hopefully reach out to this natural herbal healer for assistance in battling their health problems.
You can reach this herbal doctor via his email: drharryobego@ gmail.com

I see all of these people commenting saying people with RA cannot do these poses. That is not entirely true. I’m 27, been diagnosed since I was 14.. I am no longer on any medicines.. I just make sure I keep myself busy, stretch, do some exercises, and I also take CBD oil daily. I think the problem with most people once they find out they have RA they give up, like I did.. They continue to take those horrible medicines that do worse for you than help in my opinion. & your excuse for not attempting to stretch or exercise a little is that you can’t. But you can. If you put your mind to it, and it’ll hurt of course, but you just have to keep trying. Don’t give up just because you were diagnosed with RA. I feel fantastic right now. And let me repeat: I don’t take any medicine! Anything is possible.
M going through knee pain or u can say RA since 1 month.I want will it rlly work for RA pls reply
How blessed these ppl are to fold there body parts….! With RA I cant sit down on floor… forget lying down……. RA is on joints, they r not flexible like these… wrists knees and ankles are immovable…… knees has to b on 90degrees.. v cant bend
I am so grateful you made this video for everyone to enjoy and benefit from. Thank you very much.:)
This video is far too fast. I really want to get more active as arthritis is preventing me from doing so many things that I love (I am 23 years old). Really hoped that yoga could help but I find the rapid position changes in this video too much.
I love this video, just wondering if you have a sequence for PCOS?
@Pilates Happy Hour Hi, ive started do one of your videos almost every day. i like that i can pick and choose. i find them a bit quick sometimes and i have to keep pausing them to get myself in the right position! But hopefully ill get a bit quicker as i continue. I’d like more videos for lower back and scoliosis sufferers:)
I only WISH I could do this with my RA. Also, technically, RA is NOT a type of arthritis, the “arthritis” is just one of many, MANY symptoms of this auto-immune, painful, debilitating, crippling disease which can also affect the organs such as the lungs, the heart, the spleen, the liver, the eyes, and the skin. This might be ok for people with OA, but if I tried any of these, I would pay dearly for it, for days, possibly weeks.
This video is HORRIBLE< The poses are fine, but, for somone with RA there is no time to go from sitting to standing to sitting to laying down.. Please consider doing all the prone poses, then all the sitting poses, then all the standing poses. I could do the poses but not the transitions.
