I’m not disagreeing with this guy because he probably have done some reading on the subject matter but I’m only commenting on experience in my opinion building up your body where your running 6 miles easily everyday building up your body to do that I lost so much weight and I was in such phenomenal shape endurance wise I just can’t see lifting weights and running in the same capacity no way in my opinion. Lifting weights is cool as for definition is for the muscles running is very important super important especially as you get older.if you’re not running as you getting older you can forget about a sex life.

True… diet is the key for real… whatever you do physically. I elliptical with level 8-10 level resistance 15 30 mins a day while watching videos like this. after that it’s weight training.

Sorry if someone mentioned it already, but something important to remember in situations like these is there are overall improvements, not limited just to weight loss. Like you mentioned in the description, you drastically improved your overall fitness and running ability. I’m not in the best (or even good) shape myself, but something I always try to remind people who are starting their weight loss journey is to not focus entirely on the weight itself. paying attention to your body and things like how long you can run and how it gets easier over time to go for longer and breathe easier can be just as important to maintaining motivation to keep at it as the weight loss itself. I just started to work out regularly myself and I’m trying my best not to get discouraged thinking about weight loss or lack thereof. I’m pretty tired so I hope this made sense:) Bottom line, well done, and I hope you meet every goal you set for yourself.

Sorry, but you are wrong. Jogging does not burn 400 cal per hour, it takes about 30 min to burn 400 cal by jogging.
Outside walk, indoor treadmill jog is good. Outside run is hard on the knees. It’s not for everyone.

Running is definitely not for everyone, myself included. It impacts my joints (ankles, knees and hips) too much and causes my sciatica to act up (my Dr. told me it was the running that caused the pains giving me sleepless nights,) but I workout hard on the machines I have at home. I do HIIT workouts which really gets my heart pumping. TFS!

Hi guys! y’all seem to be very wise on this topics so I hope you can help me… I am a “skinny fat” vegetarian woman (I’ve been more tan 10 years into this diet and I have regular blood tests and chek-ups and I don’t lack any nutrients+ I take my protein supplements) and I have been doing hiit and cardio for a couple of weeks on a 200 to 400 calorie deficit under my BMR. But I just can’t do fasted cardio without feeling like I’m going to pass out. I get all dizzy, I get migraines and my eyes hurt (like if I had high pressure) Is this normal? Am I just that out of shape? Do I just have to get used to it? I’d also like to add that I am not new to fitness and cardio but I had never done it while fasting, and I used to consider myself to be in good shape for cardio, and I don’t get my calories from junk food and I try to keep my starchy/bread carbs as low as possible. It’s mostly raw vegetables, eggs, dairy, beans and legumes (a lot). I know You Tube is probably not the best place to ask this question but I thought I’d give it a try and I really want to know what’s going on with me. PD: This channel is just awesome! Subscribed!

Slow and steady definitely wins the race. I tried pushing myself too early to start jogging during my walks and ended up getting a sharp shooting pain below my right knee. Scared me, as I’ve previously had surgery on that knee, although years ago. Definitely going to stick to walking until I get below 200 lbs., then I’ll start incorporate short jogging. I’m not a big fan of running either, but the thought of one day just being ABLE to run kinda gets me jazzed up, haha. Much love for the inspiration. ❤️
I started running at 271 lbs. The beginning is always the hardest, and it will get much worse (pain wise) before it gets much better. I had no idea how to run correctly, I had terrible posture, and my breathing was all over the place. I could also run just about 80 meters. My knees hurt, my shin splints were terrible and eventually my back started to hurt too. I was also terribly ashamed to run outside, so I only went out in the park at ab out 11 pm, when it was dark and my chances of running into someone were very slim, and that was the best thing I did because I never had to worry about how I looked.
I was 245lbs and chubby. I dedicated my time to jogging and increasing to running all in 3 months Monday through sataurday ans sometimes Sundays for 2 hours and I lost 90lbs it was very crazy because I lost 30lbs per week but also during my goal to lose that much weight I only had salads with chicken, fish, beans, etc.. No juice, no sugars, I was eating 100% healthy and sometimes I would feel so hungry because on average I was drinking 240 oz of water per day… I dropped down so much weight people thought I was becoming ill. I dropped down to 155lbs and I looked so unhealthy and skinny. I realized hard work and dedication paid off but me being 6ft tall and only weigh 155lbs was not healthy. So it’s very possible to lose up to 90lbs in only 3 months but I think I over did it. My ideal weight is 190lbs so I went from running 2 hours a day to using the treadmill for only 25 mins sprinting at 9mph just 3-4 times per week and I spent 1 hour lifting weights and drinking lost of protein shakes and eating more to gain the weight back but in muscle form which I did. Now I’m 188lbs, fit and no fat at all. I love how I can eat anything and still not get any fat because I do fast sprints and lift heavy weights now and never been in better shape. It took me three months to go back up to 190lbs but without the added fat, just pure muscle. Story of my life.

You can hold on to your results when weight lifting and interval training
It would take about 5-6 months to lose fat only by jogging and running. It would take 3-4 months to lose weight but doing running and resistance training and just a month or two if you do HIIT workout along with a proper diet (no sugar)
When you do cardio you just don’t calories while doing the exercise. You also burn calories at rest (resting metabolic rate). As your cardiovascular system improves, over time, the more calories you will burn at rest (reading a book, at the computer, sleeping, etc). The more calories you burn at rest (or even working out) is also increased if you add weight training increasing the size of your muscles.
This information should have been added to your video. Very important for people to know that.

I jog for stress relief (nothing like a post-jog endorphin high) as well as for better sleep at night..I also enjoy it very much. For calorie burning I do jump rope HIIT less than 15 minutes daily. Weight train (compound exercise only) 3 times a week. I go low carb on days that I am not weight training. I also try to intermittent fast (6pm to 6am, 7 days a week). With this simple system, age 44 never felt so good:-)
Jogging helps a lot in weight loss!!! Any movement helps…..running..walking…dancing…they all burn calories. Move your butt and dont be stupid with your food intake. Its friggin simple!!!!

I jog 2 miles in the morning and 2 miles in the afternoon. I diet also. I began my journey @250. This morning I’ am 215.6. Jogging works when perform correctly.

Much of this is junk science. Jogging, sprinting and basketball are all aerobic activities that can be done intensely or casually. Yeah, in a competitive game, basketball burns more than jogging. But you’ll need other players and a competitive score. Will you do that 3-4 days a week? Jogging 8 min. miles burns more than casual basketball. Also runners have excellent bodies. They lift lighter weights to improve their upper body strength which makes them defined but not bulky. If you want Dwayne Johnson’s body, mostly lift heavy weights with some cardio. If you want Usain Bolt’s body, mostly run with some lighter weight training. I’d rather be Bolt.

They provide me a lot of strength as well as reduce my urge for food, but I don`t quit when they wear off which I really like, and so they don`t cause me to feel jittery. Gonna try sprinting in intervals. Sprinting for a bit, walk, back to sprinting. I am not trying to gain muscle, just lose weight… for now, so lots of cardio isn’t a problem. Once I cut down on weight I’ll slow down on cardio and get more into weights for muscle. Wish me luck

Jogging is amazing but I recommend sprinting for every other five minutes for 30 seconds or to a minute it helped me cause I was training for a soccer game

Great tips! I never thought I would even want to run. But now I actually want to go outside and run well more of a jog for me. I live in San Francisco so these hills are rough. I mostly use my free-stride trainer and that is getting me stronger and helps with my weight loss.

Ye gods, Im 61 ad been a fitness freak all my life and seldom have I heard such utter rubbish. Running (not jogging) is the basis of all fitness. it will burn more calories than weights, basketball or any other activity. And why do all you “buff” guys think being shredded is everything? You are coming at his from the wrong angle. Running will improve your cv which is far far more beneficial for long term health benefits and has a much more applicable use in everyday life and for general health. Its like having a high end car with a tiny engine inside, looks good but wont get you from A to B quicker than a family car with a half decent engine. Don’t concentrate on fat loss (that’s just vanity) concentrate on the important things like heart and lung health.
I prefer walking, dancing, cycling and hiking than jogging. I can climb 513 steps in 10 minutes but find it more difficult to jog for contiously for 2 minutes.
I definitely recommend the C25K app It will start you off with a 5 min warm up where you walk, then you do small increments of walking and running for 20 min and then 5 min walking warm up! The first week is run 1 min walk 1.5min and then it changes a little each week after that. Hope this helps!!

I’m a teen and I am 5’8 and weigh 145 pounds. I ran cross country for a year my sophomore year and sucked but I learned a lot and got better. But after the season ended I went right back to where I was, gained back the weight and didn’t run. I did better having the pressure of the team on me and having people to go with, even though I was embarrassed every day when people stopped to walk with me.
I want to get more in shape again! I can’t run a mile yet but I can run and walk in increments. It’s hard but the hardest part for me was to get out there and go do it. I just keep thinking about how much better I will be in the future!
I like running but I suck at it. I’m also eating healthier and less. For me it wasn’t so much what I was eating but how much. I find I can work out most effectively in the morning before my 11am class, so I do that. I like running outside and I hate the treadmill! I get bored too. I run every day and add in other things too, some days doing 2 things. Sometimes I think back to middle school when the gym teacher told me I should run for a high school team. I was a lot better back then and I wish I had taken that on. But I will be thinking the same thing in a year if I don’t get started! The best time to start is today! If you know the benefits of exercise, get out there and do it! Also for anyone who is going to workout in general: You need to drink water! You can research how much a person your age and weight should drink or just sip water all day. My coach sophomore year told me “your pee should be clear,” which is absolutely true and a great way to see how much water you’re getting. Best of luck to anyone who is running!

I love the positive motivation at the end for individuals that may need to lose more weight than others. It’s so true that people judge. But so uncalled for. I’ve been struggling with weight for a few years now, but I can definitely say when I see another person with weight on them outside running, the first thing I think is “dang, that is inspiration!!” It’s so true that heavier individuals have to face that first hurtle of just beginning a routine, and that in itself is insanely difficult. I don’t really understand why you run if you hate it.. That mentality would discourage me from getting into it if I was starting out. For me, I do it because I love it, and I love what it does for my mental health. I honestly think if you hate it that much, find something else. I believe that there is a type of cardio exercise out there for everyone that can be enjoyed rather than done just for the hell of it..

Also, I hate running too and I agree 100%: it’s a good idea to start with walking. I’ve been walking for about a month and I feel like I am ready for more exercise now. If you haven’t exercised for a while and start running right away, you’ll probably give up very soon. It’s just too much pressure on the body.

The athletes that are jacked despite doing cardio, are also on large amounts of anabolics.
I started running at 271 lbs. The beginning is always the hardest, and it will get much worse (pain wise) before it gets much better. I had no idea how to run correctly, I had terrible posture, and my breathing was all over the place. I could also run just about 80 meters. My knees hurt, my shin splints were terrible and eventually my back started to hurt too. I was also terribly ashamed to run outside, so I only went out in the park at ab out 11 pm, when it was dark and my chances of running into someone were very slim, and that was the best thing I did because I never had to worry about how I looked.
I learned a few things. For example, I was really skeptical about running on pavement, hearing all kinds of bad things as for a heavy person running on a very tough surface was bad. Shoes matter! I started with a used pair of running shoes and their soles gave up without me actually noticing it, except my knee pains were incredibly worse at some point. I researched the internet for reviews on shoes for heavy ppl and found a pair that proved perfect.
Don’t EVER land on your heels, an d keep your knees a little flexed all the time, and you will tame the impact. Your calves will burn, and if shin splints get too bad, stop and wait for the pain to go away a day or 2.
Run slowly, make small steps, it will actually be more efficient for your feet and you lower the impact, pain will go away when your muscles will start working,
Only add distance when you feel comfortable at the end of your current distance and you will avoid injury. If you feel you are not making progress and you feel tired all the time, take a break, a long one 5-6 days. When you’ll come back you’ll be amazed how far you can run.
If your back starts hurting, start some back exercises. For me, pulling cables in the gym worked wonders, after first couple of sessions you will feel the pain getting better you want your back muscles to sustain your upper weight, not your spine.
Combine running with walking: run 100 meters, walk another 100 to catch your breath, do it 3-4 times and go back home. You may not be able to run 500 meters at once, but so what? You’ll burn even more if you take “walking breaks” in between.
Make sure you get hydrated during the day. Many complain about headaches after workout. That’s due to dehydration. So drink plenty of water, but not just before getting out the door or you’ll have terrible stomach pain.
And then, don’t get discouraged if you won’t start losing weight right away. The effort may seem end of the world hard for you, but running 50 meters won’t do much. Your goal is to learn how to run, and it will take time before you’ll run for real. But you will notice progress and by the time you”ll be able to run half a mile without feeling like you’re dying (it took me over 2 months!), the scale will be friendlier too,

I push myself every day. Burn about 1000 cals every day through running or other cardio. But every day I find the dieting aspect so hard, I’m 5ft 7 66kg, I feel disgustingly fat despite the amount of days I spend running.

To me he’s not taking into account the age man. not Saying older person can’t do sprints but more than like an older person’s not going to do sprints especially someone in their 60s.
Download the Couch to 5k app and follow that program. It’s a great way to learn to run and at the start, it’s a lot of walking. You then slowly build up to running and then completing your first 5k.
Also, warm up and warm down and roll out your calfs every day for 10 minutes. It helps to avoid shin splints.

Old video, but those watching this should realize why most high level tennis players, boxers, and many soccer players run miles and miles. There’s a saying in tennis: “You can’t get tennis fit, by playing tennis.” It’s the “jogging” and super cardio (if done injury-free) that allows them to survive twelve rounds or 4-hour intense matches while dancing around opponents in 97 degrees heat. If you’re very cardio fit, you can do more sprints and recover. You can do a few sports (and lift weights) and recover. Overdoing the cardio will “kill” gains, but I was a bicycle racer, and those little muscles put out so much, they deserve their own porn contract…however, they do make it harder to lose weight (and get injured if you crash) after you’re already very lean. So you can “cycle” back into lifting more when not racing in the off season (winter muscle gains stay with you for months if you stay active).

I’m 6’1 and was 83kg 2 weeks ago, been on the OMAD diet since then everyday with a calorie defecit of around 1000 and the only activity I do each day is a 30 minute brisk walk. Im now 78kg and will continue until i reach around 70kg. It’s all about willpower and commitment.
I will say however, trying to do any kind of intense cardio/exercise while intermittent fasting made me feel incredibly faint & shakey so I don’t. (some people that works amazing for)

I used to be so in shape when I was in high school… but after I let myself go from just eating out with my friends. Now I hit the gym everyday and I feel great! In high school I was a healthy 195-205 weight for a person with a taller height. After high school, I weighed more than 260…. Now I hit the gym and I’m feeling fresher every single day! I think I’m around 220 or less. Although, I am trying to gain muscle mass. I totally recommend to run! It takes time but you get results!

Ok i agree you lose weight or fat on calorie deficit even you dont do any exercise. But you need to build more muscle to improve your metabolism, you also need to do cardio to strengtening your heart and lungs. There is a lot of benefits of doing exercise. Yes when I was at 260 I started walking. Walk walk walk! Do not run if you are super heavy! Or have injuries. Build muscle SLOWLY. Steady wins the race guys. I then started adding in Beachbody programs. 30 minutes a day and I did all modifications. Now I’m down 110 pounds and I can run! But I don’t do it a lot because of my back injuries. Just listen to your body guys. Stay safe!

don’t understand how walking and running the same distance burns the same amount of calories, you’re using slightly more effort when running to get your body off the ground at a higher distance than walking does shouldn’t this mean you’re burning more calories running?

HIT can be effective but it has been known to give people strokes. Slow jogging is excellent for weight loss. See Dr Hiroaki Tanaka’s video for technique. High intensity training is not sustainable and must be used with highly trained clients. It can lead to poor technique and injury if you are not careful.
I jogg for 1 hour,2-3 times a week and I do practice some basic diet restrictions. I enjoys it as it makes me feel great. Weight loss happens slowl. The key is consistency and discipline.

I understand that jogging may not be the best fat burning method but for me it works, I hate working out cause I have adhd and can’t stand still for the life of me and when I do I get anxiety. Jogging forces me to keep moving all the time and it works, I don’t keep count on my calories but I definitely eat less with a decent sized breakfast then I fast until dinner and eat a good meal. May not work for everybody but I’ve definitely noticed the results.

Tell you the truth, treadmills don’t even work it’s a cheat, try running on the actual ground in the cold I felt like a whole bitch I could barely make up a mile but on the treadmill I made 10 someone hell am I just a wimp?
Stop doing cardio. Eat clean in a caloric deficit. Maybe workout twice a week if you want, but you are wasting your time and health only doing this to lose weight. It doesn’t work in long term.
