I noticed how much better my posture is when doing squats with bands as opposed to weights. The bands automatically sort your posture out.

I just bought mine from Walmart. But it didn’t have a DVD with it. It has a chart with about 7 or 8 exercises demonstrated. I haven’t used it yet, but hope it is a good workout.

It’s so sad that the woman on the front unfortunately cannot squat correctly. The man’s feet are not parallel even for a minute. The shoulders shouldn’t be rounded.

Thanks James…. I ditched the dumb bells a year ago, those bands work like a charm. I can see some changes in my gains and the funny thing is I can carry them anywhere and have the workout.
Hi Joy, I’m a pilates instructor and teacher trainer. Why not try sidel-lying for footwork (bottom leg extended under the footbar) working adductors, top leg working with foot on bar and you can really work on your deep 6 hip external rotators for your turnout. Stack hips, maintain waist lifted away from carriage. even more challenging for core because your base of support is smaller. Also sidelying with leg springs, top foot in loop. You can do a slow front an dback (grande battement), and big circles (rond de jambe). Core completely stable and again, much more work to stabilise your centre than when supine. One red spring will do you for that. When you do your variations on Long Stretch ( with arabesque, inverted v, whatever), thumbs as well as fingers over the bar, only shoulderwidth handand don’t let your arm bones rotate in. More outward rotation of the humerus and really really integrate your shoulderblades onto you body actively. Sorry for the tips, I can’t help myself!

I skipped my cross-training at the gym today:x You’re so lucky your gym has a reformer! I use a whole mess of props to simulate one at my gym. Its fun to “translate” exercises from the apparatus to things like foam rollers and therabands, but sometimes I just want to be able to hook on some springs and go.

How many sets can I do per exercise if I’m a beginner following this fullbody workout? Could it be one set of 15-30 reps?
I bought these a while ago and really did not understand why James thought this “under the sun” thing was so great. Fast forward the quarantine shuts down the gyms and now the local kids jungle gym is my gym thanks to the bands. I absolutely love working out outside. It is amazing. I did not think I would enjoy it so much. Thanks James, great product and great idea.

I wish I had access to a reformer! I’ve only ever done mat pilates because studios/gyms with pilates machines are a rarity around here. That looked like a great workout and stretch. My core even felt it from watching.

Really confused about how you increase overload with this? I get you can up the band strength and increase the distance by increasing slack in part of the band. How else can you progress in a way comparable to adding more weight to the bar or increasing dumb bell weight? How do you know you’re improving?

I was one of those guys who was a little skeptical about resistance bands at first (never put it down though), so did my due diligence. Came across James and his videos and he’s got a lot of wisdom and knowledge on the subject. I ordered some bands (James’ were sold out) and went through some workouts, incorporating his workouts into my regimens. This sh*t kicked my ass…no joke.
The movement, etc. is totally different from traditional weights and it also incorporates more reliance on stabilizers muscles and ligaments, which in turn helps to develop better balance and coordination. Props to James for persevering in the face of all of these wanna be tough guy naysayers. Sh*t works, and that’s coming from someone who has owned his own fitness business (certs, etc.). Perfect for the lockdown here in LA.

I got some bands from homeprogym.com and can do almost all the same workouts I used to do at gym, even using a pole through the bands you can do bench press etc. All you need is a few bands at different weight ranges and you can do almost everything at home.
If anyone says resistance band ain’t work beat them with the heavy band on their back

This is great stuff. Truly appreciate. I had actually decided to leave my gym pre-pandemic, because I was so tired of it always being packed with inconsiderate people. I’ve been building my home gym, but I can’t afford a huge full set of weights ( nor do I have the space), so I ordered a set of bands. Can’t wait to receive them and get to work.

Only thing you need for home workout is resistance workout set.
You can do anything you want with them, they are simple to use and you can gain great muscle. I got my at trainhome shop (check on google).
Hey James, great demonstration of how to use resistance bands. One question on using resistance band for squats and dead-lifts. In both cases, load/resistance at starting position would be less and will keep increasing as you move upwards.For ex. I can squat with barbel 150lb max. To do similar weight with band, let us say I select x-heavy band (may be I need to use 2 bands together Light + X-Heavy to get 150lb weight?). When I’m in the start position in squat or dead-lift, if the resistance is equivalent to 150lbs then I may not be able to complete it because as I move up, resistance will increase and my max limit is 150lb. If I start with lower resistance, then I will lose out on the max weight during initial position. Is there a way around this problem?
