Besides canned coconut milk, what is the cleanest source of milk, coconut, almond etc…?
Too much of everything is bad for you even the healthy stuff.
When you say in really small amounts, what would you suggest per day? Thanks!
OMG-rofl will have to be creful with this Agave stuff-don’t want to end up on Mars-damn gas explosions…
Beware of corporate sponsored propaganda. Multi-million dollar sugar companies that have been around since the days of slavery (literally, and also used slave labor) do not want alternatives entering the market, especially if they are healthier, and or cheaper.
wow seriously lazy detractors they have the damn phone in their hands all they have to do is look up the health benefits of beets.
Can we have dates while we are on keto? And how many can we have?
Is stevia or the ather replacements good for someone with cancer!!?
Personally I think everything in Moderation even Refined Sugar. Everybody’s body reacts to things differently. I have seen healthy people u never drink eat refined sugars, smoke and exercise and eat healthy daily and such but die young and seen and read about people who smoke like a chimney, eat junk food and lots of sugar and do minimal exersice and live to be 100 and visa versa.
I think genetics has a lot to do with how our bodies react to things…..
Stevia is nasty to me. I use monk fruit sweetener all the time.
Me: Everything in moderation.
You: Sugar is just bad, mmkay?
very good info. I am glad I found this video. Ill be using this
Jaggery? From my understanding it is one of the most pure un refined sugar complete with micronutrients, minerals etc. and its super tasty! Generally you can pick it up and your local Indian store.
i’m no raw food person, but she just killed every nutrient in it
Hundred percent pure cane sugar color beige, hope its ok.by zulka merena
the gas explosion graphic was hilarious, when your tummy doesn’t like something it lets you know and others know too lol. I never tried agave wasn’t too sure of the benefits I think I’ll stick with my stevia. I thank you for sharing info about it, new to the channel found you by accident glad I did:)
Dates are good… it is high in iron and increases blood count…
I have not known about coconut sugar… but yes palm sugar… but these are susceptible to fermentation in warm climates… I’m not very sure of it either…
Jaggery is another substitute, but has different types… sugarcane and palm… again palm is susceptible to fermentation so i use sugarcane jaggery…
I use fruit instead the problem with all these is that they make you eat more. Perhaps fruit makes you eat more as well?
All this is great and I support it but let’s face it eating like this cost way more expensive and not everybody can afford buying coconut sugar all the time. But thank you for this video it is really helpful. Hope one day eating organic will be affordable to everyone
**I would rather consume honey than agave garbage since consuming agave is terrible for the environment when considering all the fossil fuels involved in manufacturing/processing, and transporting it from the deep south to the north. It doesn’t make sense to me. It helps encourage pollination to take some (not all) honey of the bees honey;otherwise, maybe bees would get lazy engorging themselves on too much honey; afterall, they always make alot more honey then they need. Its a symbiotic balance between man and bees.Lastly, Honey is the healthiest sweeter for you by far. I think I will look after my health first before following religious nuts. We all need some common sense once in a while.**
I can supply Natural Sweetner (Wild Date palm syrup,Sugar, Bar& sugarcane syrup)
Great video Doc, I have Stevia in my home but Im also going to lean towards the honey now. Thanks
Great For High Blood Pressure and Erectile dysfunction!!!!!!
Axe, how is honey, maple & dates a sugar substitute? All sugar still, disappointing video, boo. Stevia, is.
Hi Dr Axe, I love honey, however it’s been eliminated from my dirty because of IBS.
AGAVE IS A BETTER ALTERNATIVE THAN ANYTHING ELSE LOL JUST DONT EAT TOO MUCH OF IT AND YOU WILL BE FINE. THAT WAS THE POINT SHE WAS TRYING TO MAKE.
you shouldn’t cook ANY vegetable for 15 minutes, 2-3 min until el-dente…you just killed of 75% of the nutriuents at 15 min
Wow, you are amazing. May I come to your home for a solid day of healthy baking? If that isn’t possible, give me some recipes that allows me the correct indication of healthy sweetness as opposed to nasty and unhealthy pressed sugar.
Agave syrup is bad for you. Makes you fat and ruins your liver. I stay away from that thing. Regular honey or maple syrup is the way to go!
Dr Axe! What are your thoughts about Monkfruit? I’m a coffee drinker who like it sweet so I started using Monkfruit by Lakanto instead of Stevia. Stevia has a weird taste
Yeah!!! I like, but how much sugar in that drink? Will it interfere with people with Diabetes? And/or will it makes people with Diabetes goes up?
I am not even paying attention to what she is saying… as i am going through the comments all i hear is sugar bad, bad sugar, bad bad bad sugar. Horrible sugar… i mean horrible video
how come you don’t suggest blackstrap molasses?! it’s definitely better and more nutritious than maple syrup or coconut sugar
Dr Axe is erythritol healthy in your opinion?
Thank you very much for sharing all your knowledge with the world.
Raw Honey ( 0:52) // Stevia ( 3:00) // Dates ( 4:49) // Coconut Palm Sugar ( 6:42) // 100% Organic Maple Syrup ( 8:06)
Try pure date syrup as well by Date Lady. Ingredients 100% dates. If you get date sugar get it by Now Foods. Theirs doesn’t clump and gets the best reviews. Healthiest sweeteners on the planet.
“Tequiiilaaa”
displays the sombrero
Cringey racism… Just show the Mexican flag.
Brown sugar is white sugar with molasses added to it??? A very misleading statement, which is only partially true. Brown sugar is a sucrose sugar product with a distinctive brown color due to the presence of molasses. It is either an unrefined or partially refined soft sugar consisting of sugar crystals with some residual molasses content, or it is produced by the addition of molasses to refined white sugar. Reading the label will tell you which brown sugar you have. If you have brown cane sugar, it is very healthy*, in regards to *Prevention and treatment of cold and flu symptoms are one of the many health benefits of cane sugar. It helps reduce congestion and ease sore throats. Cane sugar also helps prevent cancers like prostate and breast cancer. Also, unlike refined sugars, sugar cane helps revitalize, energize and hydrate the body after exercise.
Stevia mixed with erithritol tastes much more like sugar and is good for diabetes or keto too.
I’m looking to switch to tea and water from being addicted to Pop.
Coconut and Palm have cholesterol the only plant foods the do. Are you a Medical Doctor? Maple Syrup[ metabolized as sugar (glucose) dangerous for diabetics.
I’ve been using Splenda for my ice tea since I’m going on my sugar free vegan eating during quarantine I was eating ice cream and potato chips and wow gained a little weight so I’m back to exercises and healthy eating
a few teaspoons of pure fructose is definitely not negligible on your health
Any opinions from someone who is actually used Agave? TBH I don’t cook and don’t use a lot of sweeteners but sometimes if I get a tea I may want to put sweetener in it so that’s my purpose. I’m trying to decide whether or not to pick up and agave syrup
Not good for diabetics. Your body don’t know the difference between sugar or honey they are both sugar.
Anything that comes from nature is good for us. It’s all God creations so we can have it and eat it all just not too much.
Worst video ever. No mention of the vasodilation effect, blood pressure reduction, cardio benefits. Nothing.
Stevia is a natural and safe herb 200x sweeter than regular white sugar. It is good for those who don’t want to use sugar or have diabetes. It has no side effects and I use it
myself because of my diabetes.
eliminate..>>..all sugar from SUGARCANE..and you will do well young jedi..
I’m trying to stay as natural as possible. But I’m looking for a sweetener for my oatmeal in the mornings. This video just makes it confusing. So, Agave is sweeter than Sugar, meaning I would use less, but It has High Fructose, which I avoid! I guess that means stick with white sugar?
You are very well spoken and respectful! Thank you! You are refreshing! Good day
Agave syrup is made the EXACT SAME WAY as hfcs. The only difference is the source. It’s idiotic to think anyone should be consuming this shit.
So it make you drunk if it is made from the samething that make tequila.
Cmon you made other video and said that honey is not a substitute of sugar and have far more fructose than sugar..you are contradicting yourself
I tried stevia once but felt too sleepy and lethargic is this normal idea Dr. Axe
Read the label carefully. At least one popular brand of Stevia, contains Dextrox, others contain alcohol derived sugar. Monk fruit is also an additive in some brands.
Sweeteners are bad for you period except in very limited amounts.
You didn’t say why it’s called nectar. Nectar is from flowers. Agave is from a killed plant’s main core.
Hi, I would like to know how dangerous an overconsumption of stevia might be? A few years ago I researched that it may cause kidney damage as a side effect. Is this true and to what extent? Thankyou
Why do you need to sweeten oatmeal? I like it with butter and cinnamon.
First real honey is kinda gross tho like it’s basically bee vomit and I cant get over that
If you put beets in cold water after cooking, the skin slips right off. I’m surprised a chef did not know this.
I vape and it has sucralose in it, it’s all I can get cheap and delivered during closed down vape shops due to coronavirus in UK. I vape 150 ml a week.i love jam DOUGHNUT vape e liquid, I’m type 2 diabetic
Can we take (suger in the raw ) it’s gmo free, vegan, no gluten
I do use Stevia for somethings, but honestly am a little put off by the intense flavor. It does take some getting used to.
My family has used light Agave syrup for years as an alternative sweetener and love it for it’s versatility, and that you don’t need much to do the same job as regular sugar. I especially like it drizzled on cereal or oatmeal, instead of syrup on whole grain waffles, or mixed with a little cinnamon on top of organic oatcakes.
All sugar is bad? Hopefully people picked up that you said your opinión cuz it means crap. Sugar is great in the right form coming from fruits… your opinion is not more valid than what nature created…
Stevia even organic one is processed I think. True stevia is greenish.watch out people
I have type 1 diabetes and there’s no way in hell I would touch any form of honey. Very dangerous. ALL sugar is poison. Beef water salt ONLY
I would add mesquite powder and lucuma powder if anyone has ever used them
I was expecting jaggery to be in the list too. Does it also not have benefits like that of dates and honey?
Dr. Josh do they have any substitute flour? Is nuts powder (like almond powder) can replace flour?
agave is highly processed STAY CLEAR USE stevia instead! It’s SUPER high in fructose
Bottom line, the moment you leave your health into the hands of someone else, you become a slave to them and you deserve what you get “”AGAVE NECTAR” really, like the bees made it, yep most people are stupid, can anyone spell ” POISON”.
Dr. Josh, thanks for sharing, you had shared here baking can use one of type sugar in your list #4 or #5, may i know from the ingredients recipe 100g sugar, (do i still use same substitute sugar 100g?)
I have the wholesome foods organic raw blue agave. Does this kind have high fructose corn syrup? It doesn’t say so on the bottle.
CAN YOU PLEASE TELL US WHAT THE HECK IS IN TRUVIA AND IF IT IS GOOD?!!!! I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE YOUR SHOW BTW<3
I just use Raw organic Sugar cane sugar, and Organic raw Honey.
You must remember that Agave, just like High Fructose Corn Syrup, is a highly concentrated, processed product. You don’t just find the Tequila plant dripping in what you call sweet Agave. And don’t let the organic labels fool you. I’ve seen organic alcohol, white sugar, and caffeine, that does not mean it is good for you! There is a ton of info about how Agave is NOT good for the body on YouTube, Google, etc. Hope that helps!
YES! Monk fruit is on here! Thankyou! I’ve been through so many non artificial sweeteners and finally found one I finally loved!
I hope Stevia isn’t on this list. I’m looking for a real answer that doesn’t promote hidden cancer
What does it taste like though? I tried stevia once.. and it tasted too herbal. It messed up my morning coffee experience.
Thank you for pointing out the PROS and CONS, so we can decide if it’s right for us!
i turn the bottle up and sip a little its so much and i put it on bread with almond butter its so good. if its bad for me than so be it. cant be completely safe in this world.
Date sugar is the #1 healthiest sweetener on the planet because its just ground up dates if its pure. Agave nectar (raw or not) is the second unhealthiest sweetener in the planet. It’s horrible for you. Fact.
They been talking about how you should NOT taken to much of this.. its very bad for your liver..
Major Pro’s and Con’s…. DO NOT OVER look this… as I always say do your research and learn more about it.
Indians never had refine sugar b4 britishers came n loot india. We had only these natural sweetners in india.
Oh so we have to cook it?! we ate it raw and for that i promise myself not to eat it again but learning now that it must be cooked made me so embarrassed about my ignorance.
Agave is almost 100 percent fructose which is really bad for you. I would recommend brown rice malt syrup which is fructose free, it contains glucose, which some of your organs and run off of. Hope this helped someone: )
As I was saying does it really take a rocket scientist to choose a sweetener?? You should support your local farmers market and other local growers. Knowing that alone should give you a HUGE ASS CLUE of which sweetener to choose. And ask yourself which of these sweetness are you most familiar and able to easily find tons of research on and historic evidence that people have been using for a loooong time???? RAW UNFILTERED UNTAMPERED WITH HONEY FROM BEES. My gosh people it’s even mentioned in the bible as a remedy. The key: moderation. Only eat as much as you need. Simple. Simple. These other sweet products while coming from plants well I don’t remember my grandmother using ANY OF THOSE OTHER THINGS… Do you??? That s cause it’s ALL SHIT!
Wtf? Why all the confusion????! People stop being such f ing gullible morons!!!!! EVERYONE knows we need to support our local growers and that the honey from bees if it’s raw and unfiltered and not treated in any way contains nutrients and some enzymes important for digestion and your local honey also supports your immune system unlike the store bought honey. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL GROWERS THAT INCLUDES BEE KEEPERS. Support your local farmers market and eat what’s in season. Stop eating the same shitty grains everyday they are ALL LOADED WITH glyphosate a toxin. They are all treated with radiation and pesticides. Organic is bullshoy today. It used to mean something but with the cross pollination happening and the allowed poisons for organic growers is still poison. WE NEEC TO WISEN UP TO THIS SLICK MARKETING. Gees were so stupid. I read the comments and I can’t believe the stupidity. Does anyone THINK FOR THEMSELVES instead of believe the TVs, radios and YouTube. Propaganda everywhere.
Watch OKRAW’s video on agave nectar. It is not good for you at ALL.
hope people don’t get their hopes up for a healthier alternative for normally unhealthy foods. they shouldn’t! there is no easy way out!
I tried Agave, but for taste and sweetness I prefer local honey from the farmer’s market.
Ok…so lm new to keto a couple of days in so lm trying to get as much info as possible but what confuses me us how keto experts are not all saying the same thing…some say honey is a no no then others say its ok……who do you believe..??
Keto no, nos…I miss honey! Stevie is not good to me personally! SN: Are you taking new patients? I’m not too far in HSV, seriously Alabama healthcare is trash. Please help!
I prefer to have a product without interference of any human being. So I prefer 100% natural organic honey. I am not trusting refinery companies products at all. And I recommend please do not trust them.
She did not mention how Agave has just as much or even more fructose than High Fructose Corn Syrup and therefore has the same baleful effects as it on the body.
Good advice keep up good work also know that Jesus Christ loves you I will be praying for you
Hi, what about jaggery. Here in India we feel that we can use jaggery in powder form in our tea, instead of sugar. as we drink tea a lot. What is your view on jaggery?
So I saw all these comments saying to eat Stevia instead, not knowing what it is, I looked it up on YouTube and right off the bat I found nothing but negative and bad videos about it and those who weren’t saying anything bad were trying to disprove or debunk the “it’s bad for you” thing. Sooooooooo NOPE. I’ll stick to my Agave;)
Lies..
Agave is 100% healthy.. This is a fact. Dr. Sebi said so.
What’s gonna cause all those adverse effects is the processed ‘unnatural’ sugar.
This is a natural sugar, something the body needs.
I see your trick tho.
You must a puppet?
Drop the processed sugar people.. It will Kill you.
Be good now.
I was getting Grade B syrup here in San Diego Ca. At the Sprouts market but it seems like they don’t sale it any more!
Could I use the Grade A syrup?
On the east side of America (baltimore Maryland to be specific) we have them pickled in jars smh they’re DELICIOUS!!! Unfortunately I’ve gone a bit overboard this week and have gobbled down 6 jarssmh im lucky they dont sour the stomach!! I cant stop eating em tho smh terriblelol
Great list except for stevia. For some reason it makes my tongue tingle or stinging and last for awhile after eating that. I avoid it now.
Everything I secret is red once I consume this thing. I feel like a woman menstruating.
Dr Axe, Tupelo Honey has the lowest glycemic honey can be used by diabetics I by mine in Georgia, & Florida.
from what I understand truvia is a blend of regular old white table sugar and stevia, I personally used truvia for almost a year then but backed off it and now I use just stevia and I actually like it better.
Not all sweetener (sugar) is the same,
Of the “simple sugars” there are Monosacharides and Disacharides. All have slightly different chemical characteristics, for example neurons (brain cells) only source of energy is GLUCOSE. As you said, different sugars have different glycemic indexes.
List of some Sugars in Foods
_Monosaccharides (simple sugars):_
Fructose
Galactose
Glucose
Mannose
Tagatose
_Disaccharides:_
Isomaltulose
Lactose
Maltose
Sucrose
Trehalose
Trehalulose
Consider this, refined sugar will give you a canker sore, raw honey and Apple mother vinegar will get rid of it.
I don’t like stevia either. But I guess I could try.
Agave is the worst and I was using it for years. No more.
Agave is a brilliant sweetener. Buy organic agave. You need so little to make your salad or whatever it is you’re doing taste good. If it’s from the earth, it’s good for you. Generally I would avoid all processed foods, but agave and honey are exceptions.
Our food system in America doesn’t want you eating healthy they want you sick so you can go to the doctors and buy medicine.
Hi Doc, I am on Telmisartan and I love eating dates, but according to the prescription one who takes this medicine should not take potassium. So is the potassium in dates bad for me?? thanks
Boiled them for 40 minutes just to peel them? Really you just killed all its benefits SMH and then to top them of with salt pepper and cheese? Wow not to clever
I LIKE ONLY THE MAPLE SYRUP OUT OF THIS LIST. I ABSOLUTELY DESPISE STEVIA. HONEY, I CAN TOLERATE, BUT ONLY IN SMALL AMOUNTS AND DATES ARE DELICIOUS, BUT NOT APPROPRIATE FOR EVERY RECIPE. I JUST USE SPLENDA. EASY AND CONVENIENT AND I DON’T REALLY CARE WHAT IT DOES TO MY BODY. JIM MORRISON SAID IT BEST-“NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE”…..
What about the metabolic benefit from medium chain fatty acids???
stfu, I like her, she has humour and she’s like a ”cool mom”!
No. The commentator is ill informed. I am from India. The fresh coconut water is the best nourishing drink and ideal for diabetic patients and the sick. The hospitals here recommend fresh coconut water as a diatery
supplement for the convalescing. In the US we get only the bottled variety which loses its efficacy with in an hour from the opening of the nut..
This is brilliant! I bought some Agave nectar syrup recently, but was a little apprehensive about using itmuch happier now I know exactly what it is!:)
