It’s no more dangerous than carrying groceries while walking. A heavy body burns more calories than a lighter body, so if you can temporarily use extra pounds to your advantage why not? Wi a treadmill, you can control fluid intake, speed, and the air temp around you, so why not use something like a weight vest, leg weights, or arm weights?
Now, is adding weights an example of fartlek or is it only fartlek if you add different speeds? Such a fun word…
Oh yeah, I like this. Short and sweet. And then you get to die But seriously, I like how short it is, feel accomplished without spending hours at the gym. So going to try this!
hi i tried to massage you on intra but i can’t find you there anymore
i was following you but now you are not there
i asked you a question plz answer that one
This works. Put on heart rate monitor, run on treadmill at 3.5mph, 3 incline with 10lb weights in each hand set time to 30min. Perform arm exercises (be creative) and walk on treadmill until heart rate climbs to 155bpm, then put weights in cup holders continue to walk until heart rate decreases to 145bps, then pickup weights and to arm exercises and walk on treadmill until heart rate is back up to 155bps. Then put weights in cup holders walk until heart rate drops to 145bpm. Contiue this interval for 25mins to 30min.
The beats per min (bpm) is based on my age. (220-47=173bpm max (173*.9=155 & 173*.84=145bpm))
I perform this workout which keeps me in hear rate in zone 4 for (25 to 20min) once or twice a week and I achieve good physical, cardio and weight loss results.
Holy cow I’m dying! Please keep doing these HIIT style! I need the kick on the butt
love this workout! im gonna die but at least i’ll die trying lol thanks so much:)
Loved this workout! Didn’t feel like working out today, was scrolling through your videos, found this and I ended up working out. Would love to see something similar for at home workout. I travel a lot and the Airbnb’s that I stay at don’t have gyms.
Those lateral thrusters killed my legs a bit, still finished though! Great workout Abby thanks
Tried this one this morning after phase 8 day one testing & about died Love it thank you for this!!!!
WOW. I think I would actually die if I did this straight through… you go girl. But I definitely want to give this a try, I love the follow along!
A weight lifting follow along for any given day (leg, arm, full body) would be amazing! Love you. Love you lots.
So, that’s HIIT? I used to think it was about jumping off the walls while screaming fire.
This is the best workout vid on YouTube at this moment! So awesome!
Started into this routine two weeks ago. It is an amazing workout. Already up to one mile at a 4.0 incline maintaining speeds from 2.5 to 3.0. The norm is one mile with weights and jog.25 miles to a cool down. I also incorporate yoga into my workout.
Just the info I was looking for! Thank you! Short and precise!
How many times in a week is preferred to do HIIT if you’re slim and goal is to be just lean and toned? Thank you! Love from Philippines
Please post more videos like these! Favorite one yet!
Actually, it´s not a bad idea… but mainly just to keep you from placing your hands on the treadmill, which makes you work your core and whole body to keep your balance… that´s the main benefit, as the weights you have to hold are very light if you’re going to use them for an extensive period.
This is one crazy workout! I’m exhausted just by watching you do it
I followed along but made some swaps since I only have a kettle bell with me. I’d love to follow you along with a kettle bell workout (that targets glutes at least a little). Love your channel! <3
“Celebrity trainer” that about sums it up! Do weights properly, do running properly, don’t do half-arsed shit like this
Great format and love the complex movements. Really nicely done. Thanks for sharing!
This is awesome! I really wanna do this insanity workout today!
Whoa!!!!!! This was GOOD!!!
My short legs wouldn’t allow for a “walk”, past 4.0!!!! Man! What a workout!!!! Thank you!!!!
my gym is always full so i might find it difficult to get to a treadmill quick enough:-(
I’d love to see a work out routine with “home gym”/basic equipment:)
I can’t afford a gym and have a toddler who works out (or tries lol) with me, and I LOVE that he wants to do it with me:)
Thank you for breaking down everything in so much detail!!! <3
I love watching these follow along workouts! I definitely want to see more
My new goal is just to be able to get through 15 reps of each weight set, and then start increasing my weight. Thank you for sharing!
I thought classic exercise theory said to NOT do strength building exercises while you are puffing or gasping for air?
does the order you do the exercises in affect the effectiveness of this workout? as in, could my first exercise be the manmaker burpee instead of the dumbbell thruster?
I love these HIIT videos! It’s snowing here in jersey and you’ve made me get up off of this couch and go to the gym. I did this exact training video and boy was it HARD! But I’m stoked. Keep em coming!
Ditch your boyfriend. Every video I’ve watched where he comments on something, it is always critical of you or negative. Does anyone else notice that?
Omg you are amazing I would have your exact reactions haha. So cool to see you go through what we go through and to show that even when you’re an active person like yourself it is still hard work to do any type of exercise. Thanks for sharing this! Love these kinds of videos please keep it up!
Started this workout and thought, I’m gonna do 2 rounds of the entire thing. When I got to 10% incline and running i was literally dead next time I’ll try two rounds or just maybe adding a sixth set
Great workout!!
Omg! Thank you!! This is exactly the type of video I was looking for. I want to start using weights to prevent my arms to get flabby after weight loss! Thank you!!!!
Wow! All I can say is I want to try, but definitely not at your fitness level.
This is so good!! It’s exactly what I was looking for! Thanks so much for the video!
I kept imagining someone tripping on one of those treadmills and hitting the wall behind them full force. But they cant get off because they’re trapped between the wall and the treadmill so they just keep getting thrown back into the wall over and over. Good video tho.
This DOES add intensity and raises heart rate. I have done this for years. Keep steady walking pace. Do not run. Your shoulders will see benefits in long walks…. and burn like hell
I did this at the gym and it is so tiring! So fun though thanks Abby:)
Abby, some of the links in the description box aren’t working
This is perfect, gyal u good!! gonna do this tomorrow. Thanks Ab.
Hey Abby!
Can you run a weight lifting video and how you incorporate hiit (if you do); if not what does a regular full body weight lifting day look like.
Great video and workout, Abby! Can you recommend a substitute movement (running in place? Jumping jacks?) for those of us who don’t have access to a treadmill? Thanks!
I love this format! The concept was genius as were the visual trackers for the reps and time. Mind blown! Great job!
Isolation exercises for imbalanced muscles, and the best way to tell where to target. I favor my right side and i notice my left has a more limited range of motion and can’t take as much weight.
Abby you’re my #1 fitness inspiration. I’ve been following u for years, and I LOVE your workouts and ur videos uhhh sometimes i just wanna give u a hug for sharing all of that with us ❤️❤️❤️
Could you maybe make a a video of meals and snacks to make/ foods to get when trying to bulk?
Definitely ran when you were running and that’s been the only time I haven’t pussed out and stopped early bc I knew someone felt the same way I did haha thank you
Fabulous fitness exercise video Abby Awesome job Jeff and thank you so much for inspiring so many people across the globe through your fitness health education empowerment YouTube Channel life and videos I love the fitness education empowerment work that you do and I do the same fitness health empowerment work in Jerusalem Israel my current hometown so much at my own Jerusalem Israel gym called Mati inside Hadar Mall in Talpiyot Jerusalem Israel On the side of my fitness health empowerment work I work full time for my startup Mobileye Intel in Jerusalem Israel
For some Reason you just keep looking faker and faker… Not to be mean maybe I’m jealous idk I just cannot put my finger on it.
You want to lose weight and only have 20 mins? Just do some squats
Abby you have a horrible partner try one that supports and doesn’t criticize and nag.
Abby, I LOVE this style of video!! Seeing that someone as fit as you gets as tired as us makes it seem so much more possible to accomplish workouts like this. I hope you do more videos similar to this in the future!:)
A try on haul of all your beautiful active wear would be an awesome video!!!!
Loved the video. Will try to follow along now at home with dumbells but no treadmill. I’ll try jogging in place and jumping jacks. I hope I can follow through!!
Please do something like this but at home. I dont have a threadmill ;_; but wanna follow along
Can you please consider a non-gym workout using home items? Would holding water bottles as weights work?!?!
Can you do a lower impact cardio without the running /sprint intervals because People like me with lung and heart problems cant do this type of intense cardio…
What can we do instead?
You go girl! I’m 45 and am a beginner in the gym. I appreciate you doing these videos and enjoy your inspirational talks! I’m going to incorporate weights like the ones you have into my cardio treadmill workout soon. Im hoping it won’t throw me off balance! lol
Thank you as always you amazing Sun Devil. I love how real you keep this with real, genuine reactions from yourself. It helps when we follow along and dieing and see you getting tired too. It helps!
i loved seeing the HIIT treadmill intervals being broken up with exercises in between. i find it so hard to do HIIT 10-20m straight in one go because of my asthma!
I loved this video.I’d like to see you doing your regular workouts as well.BTW you look amazing, girl!!!
I love, I’ll do it tomorrow, I just want to make sure incline treadmill at 2%, 4%, 6% 8% and last one 10%, correct?
And I like this real time videos when you really sweat and shows that you can really get tired well done.
You should write out all that you are doing in the video so I can watch it, read it, and take it with me to the gym:)
15lbs for 2hours.. I’m going for 25. Life of a Longshore is a lot harder dealing with Ships rigg’n then the gym. Try a 16 hour shift of lifting 100 lbs bars over your head. in the alley way of a container ship. with two 1 super hours. an 3 brakes and 15 min brakes.
Is training your back a good idea if you have upper back pain caused by tense traps? Some advice please! My traps are so tight and look huge
I feel the same.if it’s s new excerise I feel like hell so shit and out of shape and I punish myself because of this. So you get it too Abby? IV noted I’m either dead at the end not coping or…I could actually become stronger then die. So…this is normal? It’s good to see this and how you train like this. Makes me feel like I am doing it right. Thanks lovely. Hope you see this.
Love the video Abby. Do you recommend this for an asthmatic person? Or just take all the plyometrics no running of course just fast walk….
This was amazing did it today! Love the shallows from a star is born remix I loved that movie!
Does anyone have a good alternative for treadmill? Mine is currently broken lol
I hold the weights straight in a 90 degree angle for a good 30 yards and switch arms
If I angle it up, i feel it in my triceps and traps
I LOVEEEE these follow along work outs! I really struggle to know what good leg workouts and bicep workouts to do so one of those as your next would be great:)
Heyyy:) how r u doing? Im curious abt something! How long did it take? Like, this vid is abt 20 min long…how long did you stay at the gym doing all these exercises? If its possible for you to remember:P Thanks for answering me .
The “What’s up what’s up” in the beginning is what I live for.
I modified this because I don’t have a treadmill yet, so I did jumping jacks in between. It still got me dying, tho! And I was cheering you on too, haha
abby! can you please do a video on working out when youre sore! MUCH NEEDED! never know if i should or not, or what is “too sore”??? help!
Every YouTube fitness girl’s workout: Squats, squats, a few more squats, leg exercises that also are kind of just squats, lunges, squats, weighted squats, more squats, some jogging and situps because we need a break before finishing the workout with more squats. I just don’t get it.
The dislikes are from the ghosts who died doing this workout
After a workout I have a hard time calculating things too… in crossfit they sometimes make us calculate things as we’re working out and it ain’t easy! Great job girl, running in between is not always easy!
This is the first time in a long time I’ve seen a YouTube video where the person actually worked out. This seemed raw and real and motivated me to get out there and I’ll be so self-conscious and not be afraid to be out of breathe and to sweat and get it done. I’m a New viewer I’ll definitely be watching more!
Omg I haven’t done this in few months and I am so dead right now.
Loved this video, very motivating! Will definitely try, thank you.
Thank you for including the info and showing us how to do these and the timing as well!! ❤️❤️❤️
I did it! I died 3/4 of the way through, almost threw up, had to take a breather (I thought this was the best way to get myself acclimated to the gym after a month long absence ) but I did it!
it is so satisfying when theres a timer and background music that are in sync lol
So glad I just found your channel bella! You make some important and valid points. I recently started on my health journey this year and what has helped me the most in losing 25 pounds (thus far) is using 3 pound weights while walking on a 10 incline on the treadmill. Congrats on your success…you look amazing!
Thanks for this explicit video. I’m trying to loose some weight so I will be incoperating this in my routine…
