Great vid! I know it’s definitely the most boring part of any run, but could you please take us through your warm-up/cool-down rountines?
Please make playlists for certain fitness levels to train. i suggest 4 levels: beginnier intermediate advanced pro. and then for each level a certain playlist with indoor trainer sessions. in these i would prefer wattbike sessions with more “out of the saddle action”. in the videos on a turbo trainer you always stay in the saddle so long and i dont like that. right now i already custom made own playlists with your indoor training sessions. one session is for example HIIT with Si and afterwards strength/power with Dan. its a hard workout and i feel fitter after the appropriate rest but its totally unstructured and i would like to improve that a lot. thanks in advance! you are the best cycling channel in youtube.
In the past you would need BIG balls like James Hunt once said in order to drive an F1 car.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIymxwyDhiw
Now you need to be fit in order to drive an F1 car. Where is the charisma and unique driving style in every driver? They have the life of robots and body builders instead of F1 drivers. The only thing that is missing here are steroids. Just from watching one race in this era, stinks of politics and boredom even more than the time Balestre was ruling. Sorry I rather watch a race where I see Gilles Villeneuve vs Mario Andretti rather than this, and yes even if it is from 1979, IT’S 100% WORTH IT! If I watch a race like this, my heart speeds up:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fh_OyIjjBNA
If I watch a current F1 race my finger itches to change the channel, and I almost fall asleep, not even Liberty Media will save this now. These were my 2 cents, thank you.
How do you account for random races that come up that you don’t necessarily plan for ahead of time when writing out your plan?
I love the gcn tips, but can u make It less snob please. Not every one can afford a power meter, and u seem to make ur plans stick to how much power can u develop on intervals. Lets try other examples please.
My peak race is my first ever half marathon, the Publix Marathon in March. I live in Atlanta and am super excited for a race through my home city. The only bad thing is that peaking in March meant not taking time off during December and January
& still some people argues.., F1 drivers are not the real athletes….
Wow this video was so helpful and informative for me!! KUDOS!
Very interesting for marathon runners but what for track runners? What races should they peak to?
Yup i am going to train to become a formula 1 wish me luck guys I hope you understand
Blocks
For my high school we start our training block areobic base for xc during the summer then from August to December we start our peaking for xc then for track it is the same but areobic is from December to May then from May to June is peaking phase
This came at the best of time, I just signed up to SDW50 for next year
I’m only young so it’s not that specific on how I periodise my training but if I have a big event I make sure that I am at the best possible fitness or close to on the day
My son does kartraces, 11j old, and trains every day, no weights yet of course, but you see the difference when Thu are racing who is training and who’s not.
I haven’t raced for over 10 years but listening to your vlog, I’m starting to think about doing at least one in 2019!
I found the older I get the harder it is to recover from a hard workout, and the ten day cycle is the way to go! less is truly more especially if you have good base fitness. another lesson i have learned when it comes to training schedules is, if you miss a workout do not try to make it up, let it go and move on, and when you start to feel like superman, that’s when it’s time to take a rest week.
Blocks QD: I get my training scheme from my trainers we have 4 different weeks in this order always ( translated) match/race endurance, recovery, basic endurance, strenght & speed endurance, and then all over again. We have to do 2-3 long runs and then 2 track workouts to really get most value. I make about 40km per week as a 16 year old
I would love to run a ultra race one day but my longest is a half marathon at the moment. And my average week is 30k so very long way to go and I don’t even know if I will ever be able to do it but that’s where dreams are for..
Valuable info in your video today, thank you. Can I give you a suggestion to improve your videos? Make the content stay fixed at the top of the screen while we scroll the comments. That would be helpful for us to be able to read comments and still be able to watch. I use FinalSurge to track and schedule everything. Fantastic and free program. If you haven’t heard of it check it out, similar to Training Peaks only free. Happy New Year!
Nearly everyone I talk to about F1 says that it isn’t a sport because ‘it’s just driving cars around a track for hours and it’s not difficult.’
I’ll show them this video. That’ll shut them up.
Blocks.
Hi from London UK Seth!
Totally agree with you on 2-3 peaks per year (and getting registered!). I will peak first in April for the Manchester Marathon (why? Now I’ve finished one, I want a sub 3.20), then swiftly after for the Ironman UK in mid July (why? For the achievement of simply finishing my 1st long course tri). 3 months interim is shorter than ideal but both of these specific races have been an ambition of mine for a long time. 3rd peak is still TBC but I’m hoping for a potential Marathon in Oct (why? To shoot for a PB).
I’d love to hear your thoughts or a VLOG on how you will taper for your peak races and how/where B/C races can be safely mixed into the training blocks. EG I’m doing a half Marathon race in early March…is this safe only 4 weeks behind my peak marathon?
If you fail to plan, then plan to fail.
Peace out.
Great information Seth. Too many people, me included, need to be reminded on having a structured training plan while still being flexible.
Pool is a plus for running
Try to do some drills under water like high knees, but kicks… from point to point. You can also do some swimming between.
It is a good cardio workout, helps to improve running form, balance, strenght because you need so moove trugh the water and low impact so is good for joints.
Thanks for your videos and good luck for your 2019 goals
As a 58 year old runner how many miles should I run in a week? Right now I run about 25. I’m thinking of moving up to about 45. Right now I just run how I feel that day. Run on
Blocks. Great idea!! Having a planning calendar in life (i.e. budgeting, saving money, etc.) can make a huge difference. Thanks Seth. Bridgid & you should be consultants. God bless. Looking forward to tomorrow.
I read the title as Cyclists ‘Tanning’ plan…….it might be a good working title?
Seth. My training blocks are designed by my coach. Sometimes they are long, other times they are short. The longest training block I’ve had is 6 months. And the shortest is about 4 months. The reason why I’m in a 6 month training block right now is so that I can peak for Boston in April. It was illogical to do a marathon in between my last one (in September) and Boston as it would likely interrupt my chances of doing my strongest possible effort at Boston. So we chose to simply train for half a year to peak really well at that race.
I’m in high school, so my coach decides the workouts, but I have a long run every Sunday, and am usually hitting 40-50 miles each week unless I am trying to peak for State/NXN
01. Time

04. Regularity

07. Rest and drink beer.
Another great video, thanks! I usually just use an off-the-shelf training plan from Daniels, Pfizer, etc. This cycle for Boston is a bit different. I’m working with a coach, Tom “Tinman” Schwartz, who has had great success with his high school and sub-elite athletes. (Maybe you know some of the guys on the Tinman Elite team in Boulder?). Each week there’s a long run plus 2 quality workouts with variously layered paces. There are cycles and sub-cycles throughout the plan with each cycle focusing on different aspects of development. We’ll see how it goes… but I’m already enjoying the training.
BLOCKS. I have a wife who works third shift so planning workouts is tough with watching my kids. I still want to try. Maybe I need to breakdown and use the treadmill. Anyway…looking at the Broken Arrow Sky Race in June for my first target race.
Nothing about diet? Diet it’s a MAJOR key when we are talking about training!!
Small tip if your’re injured (pf or anything else) do aquajog just by a running belt and run in deep pool without any contact with floor so beter recovery
blocks
Corrently I have no training blocks but this video you inspired me to make on this year i have just two pick events and just one of them is related for running which is a marathon that I will do in the summer and the other one is a bike race
Thank you for make me inspire me you are the best!!!
Hey Seth. Have you ever implemented biking/swimming in your training? Ive been a runner for many years but last year got into triathlon. I noticed that when I started to do biking exercises and swimming, my fitness increased dramatically. Although i do about 40-50 miles of trail/road work a week as well as 3-4 days of swimming and 3-5 of biking. Just wondering if you do other exercises other than what youve showed
I started spin classes at the local gym. Any ideas one way or the other about this?
I ‘reckon the boss is gonna shave off the face’fuzz one day and look 10yrs younger and then re-sign for Dimension Data…:p
So this is what I need
Should I start building up when I get into f4?
18 hours a week?!? How about us mere mortals??
Can you break down a more basic 8 10 hour/week plan for Olympic tri training?
#globaltriathlonnetwork if my aim is to complete an IM (Bolton 2019) do I need to do intense sessions or do I just keep building my duration/endurance? Miles
Hi GTN
Have you got any tips on a tranning plan for an Olimpic distance triathlon.
I want to see Fran with full drivers suit, helmet, gloves.. all of it
The for 5+ minutes you essentially reiterated the same things over and one over…please get on with useful information! stop rambling!
Huge respect for all F1 drivers. Including Riccardo and his smile.
Great video. I also use training peaks and plan using the atp function. How do you increase the workload for 3 progressive weeks then a rest week if your already training with all the time you have available? Do you add and extra early morning run to get a bit more tss? Using the example in this video how can you add more tss? Thank you. Great work guys
What would your recommendations be in regards to incorporating some strength sessions in there? How often? Which muscle groups? How much rest / recovery? Thanks.
Good practise you did and have fun with the preparation for the 50 mile race
Please check out my small boat called the Seahorse
An ideal training aid as a swimmer can be safely followed and coached in open water.
http://www.seahorsefun.com
It is a bicycle powered catamaran that has a large trampoline, it is very fast, can be sailed, transported in a pickup truck bed, trailored, roof racked, camped on, fished from, raced, thin ice fished from, lived on, etc. Any bike powers it, from mountain bikes to road bikes, tandems, recumbents.
Great video, how would you suggest structuring a plan with 10 weeks between 2 Ironman events? (The 10 weeks in between I mean)
Does Cycling increases height at 16? How long would it take to increase my height upto 6feet? Right now I am 5″6 Inch tall?
I am following the trainerroad program for Olympic distance. It gives you 3 options, low volume, mid volume and high volume depending on your available time and how fast you can recover. I chose the mid volume as I am now over 50 so need a bit more recovery. This saves me from designing the plan and it adjusts with your ftp. It was only $129 or about £2 per week which I think is good value. I can’t afford £50 per month for a coach.
good video, progression wise, what would be a reasonable/achievable ftp increase to see each 4/6 week test. for goal setting.
This video is so great! Can you go in depth about the 4 phases of the periodization? maybe one video each
So im unfit (im realistic about that:D), my wive and i got into cycling last year and decided to give triathlon a try next year…we have two sprint events in mind for next year (around May and July) but we also wanna do a half Marathon in october? Is that too much?
or any other engagement ** Showing Fraser going to the pub **:D
one thing over 50 athletes might need to consider is to change the length of their training “week”. For example I use one 10 day and one 11 day “week” every 21 days. I just can’t cram all the variation, periodicity and rest into a 7 day week.
Get muscles like me, I got 7kg of lean muscle mass in two months only. I visited website called NextLevelDiet, they provided me with 30 days diet meal plan and training plan. Their tips helped me to gain muscles as well.
Do pros use that 3 weeks of training then 1 rest week structure? Or do higher level athletes require less frequent rest weeks?
Okay soo I got my weekly table but I didn’t saw any leg day for training my legs you know for thighs, calfs and core.. so where to add that day?
Just visit website NextLevelDiet and get personalized Diet and Training plan with amazing tips. I lost 15kg in two months. Finally, I have a six pack.
I have lost 10lbs in just one month by following diet plan from NextLevelDiet. It’s really a great tool. I recommended it to my family members and we all started to eat and live healthier. Long live #nextleveldiet.
Perhaps you said it and i missed it, but where did you get that planner, it’s awesome. I have a 50 k coming up in September and that planner would be awesome to have.
Sarah, to film do you just hand-hold the action-camera? You make it look so easy.
Very nice video Andreas! I admire you a lot! I would like to know what are your diets as a racer!
How to train again after a period of time (holidays, accident, illness)
Crush the local climb haha the local climb is 890m up and he can do it in the toughest and highest gear
Thankyou for this video, I train every day, cycling has not only really helped me get healthier but it has greatly improved my mental health. I love my bike!
In a crash like you had there in the race you said, you for sure have way more than 7 G’s. Ill be surprised if it’s less than 12 G.
Hi, thanks for your video! I think the city where you live and the kind of job you have, both of them change a lot you plans. A good tip is to use all the wasted moments of the day (for instance commuting to work…) not as a moment full of laziness but as an opportunity to train. For instance by running to the office! Same with the bike. It is important also to buy rollers to train at home during winter time. I am studying The triathlete’s bible by Joe Friel and
unfortunately!!!if you wanna do an IM (not the half) you have, during the phases Base and Build, to train for a big amount of hours (18 but even 22) pro week. Which sounds a lot but a good plan can help us to reach the goal!hey… i know this is an old video, but i always wanted to ask this.. how do you manage or rearrange your training plan if you spend few days ill and you gonna miss some important sessions during that week.. thanks!!
Nice vid..I need a power meter bad!! Power and cadence is all that’s needed to train trouble is power meters are very expensive
My weight is 180 ib and I’m 5’5″ tall. I currently training on indoor bike station. My question is what resistance level on the station bike equal to real outdoor bike? my plan is to cycle to work and i don’t want to stop on the middle of the road so I need to be prepared in the gym before going out.
Bicycle resistance level vs. station bike resistance level?
GCN can spell specificity but not focused. Interesting. lol.
Do you stick to a training plan? Let us know in the comments below!
When you said Long ride (for Sat and Sun), how long is Long? If I can comfortably riding 50km, Long means 80km?
I highly doubt their strings shorten due to them being in the car. The amount of time they spend in a car is very limited due to testing. Also they spend only a fraction of their day in the car if they do so. Otherwise good video.
8. Diet!!!
No point in doing all the rest if you just eat crap. Rest ain’t gonna do anything if you don’t have the correct nutrition to allow your body to repair properly.
Thought with a title you would see exercises for training for the race track. Just a slick promotional video for Daniel at some sporting events.Ricciardo is still one of my favorite drivers has such a great time racing and always smiling.
Do you even lift? These guys do. Which of these exercises, if any, have you tried?
(y) Nice video
Doing this for 3 or 4 years without power meter but i use speed. cadence and heart rate to train.
I wish I had seen this 10 years ago. I now realize I was overtraining. Great video, thanks for posting it.
Blocks!
This will be the first year I am sticking to a structured training block, starting mid January May I will be training for a specific race. I didn’t follow any specific plan when I ran my first half marathon but I figured a marathon is a little more serious so I’m giving the Higdon plan a try.
Was that some Project Cars I saw there? Nice FFB wheel and setup man, that is the true off season training. Do you know what wheel you are using there?
One question… If you’re contracted to a team. eg. Red Bull, can you still buy a McLaren road car?
hey guys whatsup? im shawon from bangladesh….i need a cycle so who cycle are nice????
Only diet from website NextLevelDiet works for me. After one month I lost 10kg. Now I finally have six pack:D
This video just changed the way I view trainning. Great advice!! Thank you!
Could not have uploaded a greater video at a better timing, thank you GCN! However I do have a question. My current avg. speed when training is about 24-25 km/h and about 30 during a sportive. Here’s where the problem arises; I’ve currently joined a local cycling club. They’re great, and for me personally I believe that is my next step into cycling. BUT, they ride at speeds of about 40-45 km/h averages. How can I bump up my speed the fastest way possible? Is it through regular interval training, FTP, sprints? Thanks in advance.
NOTE: I am rather young compared to the other club members, only 18 and their average age is something like 25.
Hi can you give some advice to road cyclists with herniated disc. Can’t find anything good on net.
Great video but I wished you made it about a month sooner because then I could have made a training plan for the 5k race i’m doing in a few days. Oh well.
Priceless. The look on Dan’s face when Matt puts his feet up.
I used this marathon training program “Zοrοtοn Axy” (Google it) to train for my first marathon. It`s a great book with great a great training schedule and insight. I undoubtedly recommend this for any person looking to run their first marathon. I have an experience in running 5ks, 10k and half marathons, and now my next goal would be to take another huge step to the marathon..
Great job guys, very useful video, as a beginner I learn quite a lot.
What gear do you use to measure the output power and can it be done on a regular bike?
These guys are one of the fitest sports on earth and who thinks that they just drive and nothing much else are fooling themself and others…
What is the optimal amount of intervals to perform, per session?
Not just F1, but race car drivers in general are one of the top athletes I world
Some time back i had a question about training for a 50k, and my problem was a constant feeling of fatigue. I am going to implement you idea of a longer training cycle. if i start building my milage now, being mindful of enough rest, I think I can get it done for a fall 50k. My goal is to experience my long runs feeling energized. I also love the idea of a range, rather that a rigid gotta do this. I am type A and tend to do that. Thank you so much, I am inspired. i also have plan B, if my 50k training does not go great, Steamtown marathon in the fall is another option, but i hate to think it terms of failure. but for a first marathon, pretty ideal.
After a couple of months of issues trying to index my gears I popped into my LBS and was advised that the pivots on my rear derailleur were worn and needed replacing. Simon, you have plenty of videos on indexing and replacing derailleurs but I would be interested in knowing how to check it for wear?
The first two look like they are in an experimental mental hospital
Notice how nutrition and diet wasn’t mentioned in the video yet the vegans had to comment to let everyone know they are the nutritional experts?
I have a training plan, created one by myself using “Triathlete’s training bible”.My first 70.3 race is quite far away (in September), so now I have to do aerobic workouts mostly. But (unfortunately?) my love to cycling brakes this plan a bit, because local cycling races start just at the end of spring, which means anaerobic efforts a bit earlier..)
Hi guys, I’m currently training for a tour of Wales in summer. The tour is 5 days long each day of 50-70 miles and 1200-2200m climb. It’s a relaxed tour but I want to prepare myself anyway as I’m 14, 2 years younger than the recommended age limit. I do 1.5 hours on Wednesday evening of intervals round Halesowen velodrome (a coached track bike session), 1.25 hours on Thursday round velodrome (coached road bike), a Friday night track racing league (4 races every week) and then on a Saturday OR Sunday I do a 30-60 mile ride with 600-1300m climbing. Any suggestions/improvements considering I am in school and have a LOT of homework?
I’m very interested in the neck excercises i’m in combat sports
Do you have any tips for getting motion sickness when swimming? I think its due to the head movment to the side but i use ear plugs and anti sickness tablets an atill start to get queezy around 800m and after 1000m have to jump out an throw up
How can I lose weight to climb better when you study? I drink a lot of water and I watch my food. I try to do a fat burning session also, but I haven’t seen any significant loss. What would you recommend to do also when you haven’t a lot of time.
I build my training blocks in 24 week chunks to peak twice a year
RZR wheels just haggin around on the wall?..Seems mighty wasteful.
What is the best way to perceive effort level without the use of a powermeter?
Well done GCN great tips for everyone out there wanting to reach there goals. I’m training myself for Errical International Youth Tour what is in the end of July. Thanks
Wow! Matts legs in the sprint here were insane. Very impressed
DAMN RICARDO WOULD KO MAYWEATHER JR IN THE FIRST ROUND WHILE SMILING ALL THE TIME DAAAMMNN.
Hope yr not forgetting to train yr neck muscles….LOL ;-)))
That’s harsh…real atheletes….They don’t play in a 100 degree plus environment nor are guaranteed to come home after their competition.
Cant wait for the season to start! Hoping the bulls will compete but im there all the way anyhow because both you guys are awesome on and off track!
Muscle up on a bar first before rings. The bar is a little more predictable when you’re learning the movement.
Awesome content and nicely put together you’re a pro now..:) Currently building up the miles myself for M2L 50 miler in April. Will yourself or Ben be bringing out a 50 mile training plan? I’m more than willing to purchase it if you do… Thanks
Someone just said racing cars takes no effort its just turning
The “click here” section looks stupid when you watch the video on TV:D
Well done Sarah! I signed up for the Chiltern Wonderland too, supposed to be my first ultra. I have been training since March but I don’t feel ready at all, I’m considering postponing
can someone please tell me what’s the green staff he’s drinking at the begin of the video? thanks in advance
How to make sex like an F1 Driver? Do 11.000 fps or finishing in 3 sec?)))
Awesome!!! I’m also training for a 100k 62mile run! For September!
Some real athletes performing? You want to say that F1 drivers are not real athletes Ric?!?!?
Can Someone Please tell me what is he eating on Breakfast? and what is that Green Mixture?
project cars if that’s the game he is playing will make him loose races in real life
Thanks for the great information and tips on this one. I’ve never tried hill reps for a specific session but will give it a try this week
Forklift driver right here (sorry no such vehicle on keyboard)training is almost the same.
It’s too bad F1 drivers can’t get big like they would probably like to be
hi, I’m from Indonesia and I like you very much. I hope you can show us your best performance in F1. See you at the beginning of the season, Daniel.:D
Lots of love from India! <3 Rooting for you as always for 2017. Go for it Honey Badger!:D
Awesome driver, awesome man! Hope, you’ll become a 2017 World Champion. Beat this Verstappen!
Ricciardo’s fan!! I agree with you to fight for “Black Lives Matter”!
This video is dedicated to all those who still believe F1 isn’t a ‘sport.’
Hello There,
I Gotta say, I love your Videos. I’m a big fan! I make compilation videos where I take clips from other videos add some information, do my own voiceover and then play music over them. I was just wondering if I could have your permission to use 20 seconds max of this video. Obviously, the link will be in the description and all credit will be rewarded to you. If you are not sure, check out my channel and read the description of my recent videos an see what I mean
Man, go get em next season!! Awesome to see how much work actually goes into it!!
you see the half of the exercises techniques here. most standart sportsmen cant even find strength to get in an f1 car after those exercises ( if theyre allowed LOL)…
So Basically. You can never drive a formula one car if you dont have a chance to try some of these exercises???
Andreas you are second in the full season by the fans though
I need a workout collab between Andreas Bakkerud, Jujimufu, and Magnus Midtbo,
Let’s just say, If we get a female F1 driver, She can probably give good neck 😉 Sorry I went there
Does he do a lap in the sim before the workout and then one in the middle to see how it affects his focus?
I mean, I can use the arm exercises shown here to really build up muscle in my arms. They look so wobbly atm
Look at Dan’s gut while he’s standing there. He either needs to lay off the beer, or start doing his core routine again.
I wonder how many takes were done before you decided not to attempt saying the word ‘specificity’ in the video:’)
Excited for 2019! Haven’t been on the channel lately. Had some emergencies and been traveling for family the past few weeks. Will be back home in two days to start getting back in the groove and send out everything I promised!
Dear GCN, needed some advice, I’m really confused to buy a road bike or a mountain bike. I’m usually riding on a road. But somehow I think mountain is more comfortable, it would be great if you can get back to me with this.
Thanks (hope u read it)
I have 1 big question wha do you like more the Audi 90 race car or quattro S1 poles peaks
Great video! I like how it explains why they do these certain exercises.
I’m not a crossfitter but a gymnast maybe i can help you with it. I know Younes from monster belgium
Hey guys, How do you know when you are going to reach your peak?
This gives me a lot of motivation to exercise more
Thank you, F1!
Such a shame that the UK is losing free coverage this year. What a terrible move from F1; will hurt them in the long run.
How would you incorporate daily bike commute into this plan? Mine is not long enough to be a good training session (10k), but roundtrip is long enough to be not exactly a “rest”. I can, obviously make the commute longer, for a training session, but I can’t make them shorter…
As a 13-year-old child who got into cycling because of you, I was wondering what my FTP should be and my average speed.
I do a 25 mile daily commute and I’ve just started racing. If I throw in a club ride at the weekend this is working out at around 200+ miles a week. Do you have any advice on how I can ensure that I can get enough rest into my routine while also getting some training sessions? Currently I am planning on including some sprint intervals on my commute home but riding easy on other days.
In class everyone even my teacher argues me that Formula 1™ is not a sport.
Sir are you stupid have you ever reached 170 BPM while in a car?
Have you lost 2 KG while in a car??
Il just show him this video
Great advice. I’ve adapted my training plan a few times already (created from pulling a few templates together) based on where I think i’m at and what i’m capable of. Equally if I don’t feel it one day I just take it easy and do some other form of working out or just taking a day to relax. I want to keep it fun, rather than a chore because of the ‘7 day routine’.
Gonna try this until June. Wish me luck guys!
I’ll update you guys then. or if you ask
Guy and the right reminds me of the mechanic in wheeler dealers, swear your related
Nice one Honey Badger. 2017 World Champion in the making:-)
1:52 I’ve tried that and it’s fking hard. Burns your abs after 30 seconds
Me: I want to be an f1 driver
After I see this video
Meh im just gonna be a graphic designer instead
Lol
QOD: I really enjoyed how you break down your training block, to be honest with you i loved!! I’m little bit more hard on myself with the mentality “go hard or go home” and sometimes that’s not good, like you have said, we have to listen to our body. really nice vid Seth 😉 After all that you said in this video, i will change my plan to my peak races thats for sure!!!
Easy life
Training, eating, sleeping and sometimes racing.
Better than 10h job and after that job, still need to train in your own, in a boring fitness.
Well, poor version of neck training I do is carry 3 of my classmates with my neck
I really need to try out 2:00. I somehow can’t get the hang of it, why it seems so hard.
Ppl don’t seem to understand that driving an f1 car flat out and a normal car at normal speeds are so different
I always enjoy your videos but this one made me laugh out loud. I thoroughly enjoyed the part where you were talking seriously about rest and the shot cuts to turning off the night light and tucking into bed all the while wearing your cycling jersey. Now that’s dedication.
1:52 The Williams Car For The First Two Days Of 2019 Testing
Thanks. So, is it better to go for distance speed or both. Maybe I missed it.
Did your dad drove rally or rallycross, i mean almost everybody that drives WRX got a dad that was good in the rallycross for exemple Hansen’s and Kristoffersson.?
Daniel: What is the green powder you drink ( 0:02)? What is the special of it and where to get it?
Fantastic as always. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Inspiring to us all. Take care
Blocks: I really like the idea of a 10 day training cycle. But a problem with a 10 day cycle, much like a rigid work schedule, is that calendars and strava are set up for weekly not 10 day mileage, elevations, time, etcetera. The thing I like most about strava is the convenience of have a self organizing repository for your trining data.
One thing I like to do when going through a training block is to mix up where I’m putting my mileage during the week. For example, instead of sticking to a weekend long run with one day off during the week, occasionally I’ll break up my long run into two runs. One run will be on the usual long run day and the other will take the place of my day off. This might seen counterintuitive to recovery, but I find that it has a huge effect on my mental recovery. It makes me look forward the following week’s rest day and traditional weekend long run. Plus, because I hadn’t done a long run the previous week my legs are usually pretty fresh.
I know these quite well because of cadetship in an Air Force soon, you need to have an extremely strong overall body, that’s because in close quarters you are prone to prolonged exposure to 9G loads, sounds like little, when drivers crash they have a max G force of over 50 at times, but it’s temporary, try holding 9G for 45 seconds, while tensing all leg, arm and chest muscles, and using a special type of breathing emphasized at training which helps in handling high Gs
I’ve not started yet but I know that this is coming up and it’s an exclusion factor of many cadets
Memorable moments running in the snow about 3 foot in the mountains In Trondheim (Norway), but I live in the UK
That was an awesome video FORMULA 1! I love your all’s racing high performance to. I’ve never been one of your Grand Prix races yet, but it’ll be a tremendous honor. Hey, thanks for that amazing training video. I’m actually a volunteer race car driver in my local area for go-kart racing. Maybe someday I’ll use some the great-special moves to train like a F1 driver!
This man has the best smile I have ever seen. Literally everytime I see it it just makes the world better for me and it makes my day.
i am very disappointed that you didn’t show Riccardo’s neck training routine from his instagram stories
this training is easy, but handling the car and f1 esp. is smth different. But 170 BPM man that’s like running marathon 2hrs
So I am a duathlete (Running/cycling) any tips on a perfect duathlon/triathlon training plan?
Nambe, yo no quisiera tener que reventarme con un piloto de fórmula uno
Bravo! Quel courage! ta vidéo est super touchante! Biz Claude
Hi Sarah I would like to run my first ultra and before that a full marathon. So far the longest I’ve run is 21km and also I’m not a fast runner! How do you suggest to go about it? How long did it take to you to train for your first marathon and ultra, I was thinking of going for a 50km after I manage a marathon!!
Car racers dnt even need to be fit to be good. Motogp riders need to be fit. Kimi is fat Perez is fat, Only Lewis is truly fit to be fair. Back in the day F1 drivers were fat
Jet Pilots endure much higher G forces. Besides the centrifuge, I wonder what other training they do?
ive always thought that racing an f1 car would be easy…but damn was i wrong
Hi seth! just started running again after 2 weeks so right now I’m just trying to get back in the groove with building my mileage up, i lost quite a bit in my breathing because of the cold weather, so I need to build my lungs back up, in the cold. And try to stay injury-free, so when I start building my lugs back up I will start pushing more mileage. Im not training for marathon right now, I’m training for a half marathon. I haven’t done one since 97. So yeah I’m way older now lol hopefully I can learn off your videos, by following your journey. I felt like I lost a lot just by taking that two weeks off.
It looks like Daniel is just super politely trying to straighten that man’s sticks for him and they keep falling over.:)
Hi F1, i can’t watch F1 in melbourne coz i need to work. Where i can get streaming of the race?
Daniel Ric”cardio” has gotta be the fittest driver on the grid.
With all that snackerud moments from your fans it’s no surprise you need a good workout program Awesome video as always!
see you in Hell we will bring a good old british pick and mix!! (ask doran)
Hi Seth, but from August to November you only have 2 months to recover and train, you think it´s enough??? Tip: for marathon, you need to do long runs and speed works, right. Do your speed works competing in 5K and 10K races, it´s more fun and challenging to do so.
I’m running the SDW50 in April. It’ll vey first ultra and I’m really looking forward to it! I’ve heard Centurion really look after their runners.
Unfortunately I won’t be able to recce any of the course as I live Manchester way, but there’s plenty round here to emulate the terrain.
Hard to know what time time/pace to have in mind as I’ve not been that far before.
Looking forward to following your training in the build up for CW50!
Your YouTube content is fantastic by the way!
Just stumbled upon your channel and had to subscribe! I may be moving to London next year so it’s nice to know some places I can run!
Thanks to you, one is able to admire the beauty of Greenwich! So not only do we get to learn but also to travel
If you’re looking for an introduction to use going forward, that first 20 seconds or so would be great! Nice to see your personality coming out…keep up the good work.
Another good video Sarah. If possible on a future video could you show us some of the training runs you have set up on your watch:)
Can you do an in depth video of how to make a training plan for a full block? My half marathon is in February and I’ve already been training for a month or two. Is it ok if I am not going fast right now?im just increasing my miles, I am doing 20+ miles a week which is a lot for me. Is that ok?
As always such an inspiration and this video was just amazing, I always look forward to watching your videos thank you
I think your diet or whatever you are eating would be very interesting as well.
I wanna ride with yall fix I ride in NYC. 50 13 No EZ roads.
The way you train your core and neck is quite risky for your back. repeated flexion and twisting under load are the ingredients to create disc bulges and herniation. the core muscles are to create stiffness and stop motion, rather than to create it. when you are driving you are also trying to stay tight and resist the g-forces, not create motion. so a better way to train is to do excercises where there is external motion or load and you are trying to resist it. for example excercises called “stir the pot”,”landmine press”, “side plank”, “birddog”. kettlebell swings are good too but motion must be created with hips and not your back. For more information about why flexing back is bad and creating twising torque is bad too look up “Stuart Mcgill”. for kettlebell swings look at video “Enter the Kettlebell Pavel Tsatsouline”
I like long rides, mostly by myself, gonna try my first 24h ride soon, aiming for 500k.
Thanks for your Tips about Cyclist Im very Interested but I don have ROADBIKE OR MOUNTAINBIKE..:(
I swear all GCN videos talk a lot, but say very little. How the hell did they get so popular? GCN sucks!
Seeing your confidence grow with every new videos is amazing! Great job Sarah!
Great vlog! I actually feel motivated to stop avoiding the hills around my house lol.
I know it’s basically the opposite of what you’re currently training for, but could you share some info about how you broke 20 for the 5k last year? How long did it take to go from 20:28 to 19:40? I already watched a couple of videos about the topic but they were all by men, so I’d be very interested to hear a woman’s perspective since it’s a bit harder for us to achieve the same results.
Thanks for this. Signed up for my first 50 miler in September as well (need a qualification run for NDW 100), not chiltern wonderland as its full:(. Doing most of what you have done, i think i just need to up my mileage and a few back to back longer runs. How many of those would you recommend?
Ive did the virtual race to the stones and managed back to back 50k for my first Ultras, but feel i need to do more (maybe not as well as 50k).
I managed to get a spot on the Wendover woods nighttime 50k,:D
