I comfort eat. I’ve gained so much weight which then makes me comfort eat more because i can’t lose the weight =/ I’m not overweight but this is the heaviest that i’ve been. I kinda wished i starved myself or drank water when i felt sad or stressed.
Since you have time to make YouTube videos, I should just get you to sign my disability re-evaluation forms. All my specialists are too busy “saving lives”.

Is your eating habit out of control? Do you tend to think about food all the time? Do you feel guilty depressed or ashamed after eating? When I heard that I thought she was going to say, if so stop watching this and seek a doctor because you may have an eating disorder. But I was wrong.
It’s causeeeee my parent cooking skills are sooo GOOD!!!
Do you have any suggestions on kids losing weight? My son is 7 years old, saying hungry all the time, love meat a lot. I don’t know how to control him from overeating, when he says hungry, I don’t know he is really hungry or emotional hungry?
Where are the studies to support vegans have higher levels of dementia?
As an interviewer I would think you know your guest ‘s latest book…Correction, he does Not have a background in Science (please research your guest.) Some of your questions are ridicules…..
“Yes please stay at my retreat 8-12 weeks or more, especially at an average cost of 40k…..Hmmmmm why did Joel set up his health center$$$$$$$
I needed this as ive been eating like a hippo for past couple of months..
my dad and my mom would tell me to finish my meal and all and if i reduce the food they say i dont want you to starve so you need to eat more. but they always told me to finish my meal and i think that one of the reasons im overweight.
I suffer all 7. Growing up Greek, I wont say more then food was our life. I am 73 and yes YOYOed for years and years. Compulsion
Life is so boring….. that’s why I eat for fun. It’s so hard to stop after 25+ years. One of my habit snacking times is when I go traveling or on a road trip. I am not a snacker on normal day but on trips I MUST have snacks at every single gas station stop. Haha
I just love to eat. All the time. I follow all the rules and still binge.

If there are Physical, Nutritional, Emotional, Habit, Hormonal, Sense, and Environmental Hunger, are there Physical, Nutritional, Emotional, Habit, Hormonal, Sense, and Environmental Thirst as well?
U are a good teacher.. Thanks so much
But why do I fit in all of them?
I fit pretty much all the types. And it’s a paradox. I eat because I’m fat and depressed but I’m depressed because I’m fat and I eat
39:00 he’s talking about the primitive brain taking over for our intellect and forcing us to eat concentrated calories. In a natural environment, the concentrated calories would be the nuts and seeds which require a bit of work to crack, the ripest fruit, maybe an occasional animal we killed. But it wouldn’t be flour, sugar, and oil because those foods largely wouldn’t exist, maybe we’d find some honey but we’d have to figure out how not to get stung. So frozen bananas blended up are delicious, never mind with the vanilla bean powder and walnuts which would make them exquisite. Or in a non refrigeration non vita-mix world it would be simply ripe bananas which would be great too. Apparently there are many varieties of bananas and ripeness is paramount. The point I was making is that we live in an artificial world. It always bothered me why we would want to do something that was harmful to ourselves. Like I got clean over marijuana and alcohol use quite young. And in AA and NA they practice complete abstinence from all drugs. But what do you do with food? Or sex? You can’t just not eat. And never having sex doesn’t sound fun. But then you realize that we’re not made to eat 90% of the food Americans eat. Like they did not even exist in a natural environment. But then you get to focus on the foods we should eat and it’s a very rich, colorful, flavorful pallete. Fascinating environment. You could garden there are literally 100s of kinds of lettuce or beans. There are even 10 or more kinds of melons available in the store at the right time of year. Worldwide there are probably so many healthful delicious foods suitable for growing in your climate you could probably never eat the same food twice not that that would be your goal but there’s so much diversity. Now my goal is to get a ton of fruit and not trees, berry bushes, and perennial vegetables growing, along with annual veggies. How wonderful does that sound! We’ve got wild paw paws and persimmons here. Pecans. I want to make friends with people who have pecans raining on their lawns pecan trees produce nuts for 300 years! We actually could create a world where free healthful food was super abundant just by foodscaping our subdivisions and parks and greenways. Of course we can do this now to our own yards. Village homes in Davis CA did this. But we could design so much better and solve all of our problems at once health problems, but also financial problems, and transportation problems you wouldn’t need to go anywhere. We’d be more proof against corona virus.
Joanna, this video popped up while browsing through ur channel. Very well explained. Though being a doctor, I was not aware of so many types of hunger and really it gives you much insight into the reason for getting hungry. Most of the times, the food type, quantity or timing can be avoided if you have clear idea about why u r eating that food. Appreciate your video

It’s so annoying when I’m in school tho, I just start feeling hungry and it starts to growling and I’m like hopefully no one heard that and its embarrassing when everyone is quiet and I keep drinking water and it doesn’t want to feel full
Whenever I feel emotional hunger, I do planking for 2 to 3 minutes. Drink more water.
My problem is that i crave alot of carbs although I’m endomorph
Anyways, I’m training myself to only eat while I’m so hungry and it’s not that hard since i went on an intermittent fasting diet
I eat healthy meals (breakfast, lunch) but my snacks ruin my healthy lifestyle bcuz i binge! I overeat unhealthy snacks so i reduce the dinner, the past 3 days after i finished my diet made the burnt fats come back, I’m literally sure that yesterday i ate more than 2000 calories ugh ♀️ (at least I’m moderately active)
Edit:
9:12, well it’s hard when ur an arab middle eastern, they won’t stop begging u to eat and they make u feel that ur being rude for saying no, and oh la la.

Wow I thought there were only 2 types of hunger. I’m so glad I learned this.
I have all types of hunger how could I stop eating
I think in America we need to learn to bond without food and reward our children with something other than candy and food.
Hii.. How do you make hot chocolate? Pls share the recipe..
she is so wise like everything she says makes sense, i relate to some/most of it and she really tells you to something not to maybe do it, definitely do it
Read a book?????????? Forget your book!!!!! I want chocolate!!!!!!!!!!!
Im hungry for smack and sometimes compensate with junk food, last week i ate 5 kitkats in a row then used the foil for more smack
Perfect really, but i wanna ask you about the headache that suddenly attack me and i know that it’s because I need food. That’s considered as a real hunger or a lack of specific something my body needs or how to overcome this without struggling my diet
I ate because I am so hungry and I have done a dight and I sow everything
Very useful video. It might help many to sort out their issues. But then again, analyzing and then properly acting requires discipline, which many may lack. So it may be required to dig even deeper.
Yes 80% of what you eat determines how you can change your body I love your videos this part was sooo spot on 7:56!!!! ( coming from a person who eats too much just cause the food is too good and then have long hours of stomachache ) And I’m actually now more excited to track what I eat in a day:D
Did anyone do a double take when she said “crappy food”? It caught me off-guard for some reason lol
Thanks for this interview! Love Dr. Fuhrman’s sound advice!
the only way is full stomach no other way. Bulky foods and low dense in calories.
And if so, how do I balance all 14 of the above, for at least, 3 or 4 times a day?
Can you do more vids on how to put on weight and more helpful for people who are underweight? It would be very useful, thanks. x
Low nutrition will lead to pika craving more non nutritional food
I’m a punjabi, we are big foodies. I’ve had extremely bad relationship with food my whole teenage! I used to eat alot, never exercised! I became 70 kg.
Now I’m in early 20, I’ve started exercising n dieting bcz I’ve to appear for an interview. I’m still going strong, continuing my diet but still at times i binge eat especially when mom cooks my favourite dishes n i used to slack off in periods but not any more!!! Gradually I’m developing good relationship with food, I’m learning alot i must say!! I’m becoming better each day! I’m 68 now.. my target is 55.:) good luck to everyone who’s trying to lose or gain weight.. you can do it guys..it’s just the matter of consistency. Don’t cheat until you lose all those extra kilos. You can cheat later once in a week. But not now.. stay strong ❤
After listening to the need to supplement a plant-based diet why not consume small regular amounts of free range organic meats and wild caught salmon/ fish?
The best instruction I ever heard on this subject. Please join our Dhamma discussion. https://dhammawheel.com/search.php?search_id=active_topics
I enjoyed listening to your enlightening conversation with Dr. Fuhrman. I used to be morbidly obese. I was diabetic with high blood pressure and had a heart attack about 10 years ago. I was on a dozen medications and felt hopeless. I’d tried many diets and failed. A little over 2 years ago, I heard Dr. Fuhrman speak, with his emphasis on nutritional excellence. I knew I was hearing the truth and started implementing his recommendations. I’ve since lost almost 100 lbs, and my doctor has taken me off all medications for diabetes and heart disease, and has greatly reduced my medication for high blood pressure. During my latest visit, she said: “It’s extremely rare to have a patient come off so many medications.” I couldn’t be more grateful for Dr. Fuhrman’s non-compromising stance on nutritional excellence!
I’m soo dealing with the emotional hunger.. my partner lives abroad and we rarely see each other, so when i’m away from him I feel like I need something to fill me up emotionally, so I might buy some ice cream and it actually helps. But the days when I decide NOT to have the ice cream, damn.. that’s hard.
17:00 if this diet is better, why is it not being implemented say by the USDA and doctors? I love the logic too it works far better, it’s far cheaper. It’s the obvious way to go. Unfortunately we just discussed that the junk food industry and the disease care industry are some of the biggest and most politically influential and they want to preserve the status quo. And of course people are junk food addicts. If vegetables are the answer to the war on cancer, they want another answer. Permaculture or all intelligent people want the best results for the least cost you can have ’em both. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to translate. I’ve been eating whole plant foods and striving to increase my nutrient density since 2003. I thought within a couple years everyone I knew would be doing it too, but I find it’s getting more popular or the ideas are getting more popular but very few of my acquaintances practice it. Fascinating that the more healthfullly you eat the more satisfying it is and not just in some withdrawing from addictive substances way, but because it’s the way we’re made to eat. Very cool, when you get the picture, though, that not only does it make you healthier, and is very enjoyable it’s better in all ways. Like it actually tastes better, you feel better in the short term. Long term you’re not worried about a heart attack or cancer. And it’s better for the environment. You can garden and learn how to grow your own food. You can have food security and not need to work to make money for food or have to drive to go get food you could grow a surplus of food to share / sell. It hooks into a way of living that’s better for all living things.
Thank you for your advice! It’s really useful. I’ll try my best to conquer the binge eating.
If you have very bad eating habits and have had them for a long time, your hunger-signals might not work properly. The best thing is to first focus on eating at regular intervals (3-4 hours) first and start paying attention to your hunger only after they start working properly again.
I literally just ate a bowl of noodle and I am still hungry like wtf????
