In fact, “tonic water” is a bit of a misnomer. I’ve been drinking tonic water to relieve my restless legs. The quinine has really relaxed my legs so I can fall asleep. I add flavored electrolyte powder & it taste great.
Oh you Americans, it’s not kwy-nine, it’s Quin, as in gin, een, as in seen
Is mineral water from Perrier, that warns against putting drink in light the same thing as Tonic Water?
Man i can’t believe one can made me feel so relaxed maybe it’s just a coincidence, but seriously im going to start drinking this before bed… Last time i felt this relaxed was when i smoked a………u know
This is very informative. Thank you. I learned more here today than on all the news broadcasts about these drugs so far.
I’m a very athletic person and suffer wicked leg cramps. My mother suggested Tonic Water with a wedge of lemon. It’s helped allot.
I wonder if tonic water might be a good choice for women to drink during menstruation, if it helps with cramps, I mean. Has anyone tried that?
You have a nice camera, which one is it if I may ask? I love tonic water and searched on the beauty of this stuff and now I learned about its health benefits. Thanks for the review. You should be a barman.
Ohhhhhh that’s what it’s used for… I just drink it all the time in a big cup
Yes, and also when your eye is twitching, one sip of tonic water thanks to its quinine will stop it!:)
Dafuq Daniel. Long time lubber of tonic water all by itself. Ever do a video on Bitters?
@tiffbott41 I agree. a WTF on simple syrup would be great. Just because its called simple doesnt mean everyone knows what it is and all you can do with it.
great 30secs of commercial in a 4 minutes vid, do you think you are a tv or what
get to THE PHUKKING POINT OF THE TITLE A-HOLE.. waste of life
LINK to a non-gay REAL direct USEFUL video.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oXC1saGi4A
Mustard based is South Carolina. In North Carolina our bbq sauce is vinegar based. Stage coach needs to get it right.
dude! how is it made? what is the process? how would i go about making my own? this video didn’t answer my questions, only repeated stuff you find in a 5min Google search.
I hate Mechant’s Heart tonic. Tastes like it came out of a Sodastream in the 70s. 1724 tonic is very similar in flavour. I like bitterness in my tonic and these two don’t have it, which makes them bland.
Yo your hair cut looks like the evil kids hair cut from the incredibles
Experiment: Add some Angostura Bitters to that lemon drink. It’ll either be messed up, or pure magic, that’s my prediction.
The way your mouth moves catches my attention for the most of the time. Lol don’t know if it is just me.
Info please: What are the high end tonic waters that just have quinine?
Those “cramps” are not actually cramps. It’s the uterus lining shedding…
Also tonic water is normally best for when you have a minor upset stomach and you just need to burp, or drink ginger ale which my stomach was upset and burped it and felt better afterwards. And/or if you feel “fat” you could also use this drink to make you feel better and burp your “fatty” feeling away. It works for me a lot.
If you were to put tonic water into food would it still glow??
I like tonic water, but i absolutely HATE the aftertaste. the only reason i drink it is for the water. but i always have a cup of normal water nearby to wash down the after taste.:)
Physician here. Thank you so much for helping bring awareness to an important issue in such an accurate and fun way. You sir, are a gentleman, and a scholar, on top of the original internet drinky man.
Tonic water is my favourite fizzy drink, If they sold this in vendors theres no doubt I would opt to this than any other sugary fizzy drink
For some reason, out of all the cocktail channels I watch, my wife knew who I was talking about when I said something about Internet Drinky Man.
That 1783 is top stuff. Glad to see the Fevertree being where it belongs to -and that’s the pretentious people’s recycling bin who know that they know everything
Interesting to see the DD sugar bomb it is doing so well. It is so sweet it masks the gins too much in most cases. Nice effort. Great experiment.
I am a crazy gin & tonic girl.. started drinking tonic on its own
You dont get enough recognition here on youtube. All of your videos are creative and fun and most of them very affordable. Thank you for this (once again) amazing video. Take care you two!!
hhahah i was just drinking it the other day and was wondering why it was so tasty, then became so bitter.
@anewonn Really weird, right? This is the third time it’s happened to me… I was researching papayas the week he did the papaya episode, THEN I ate sardines in Macau for the first time the day before the sardine episode, THEN I was out last night for my buddies birthday and we were having an argument about tonic and why it’s called ‘tonic’ if it isn’t medicine. LOL too funny. He’s reading our minds…. DUN DUN DUUUUN
I follow my bartenders advice: 2 gin and tonics every Friday or get out of my way….haha
With THAT amount of sugar in an alcoholic drink prep i can see how drinking can cause cancer yup…
Interestingly, most of the ingredients listed here are not in any tonic I’ve ever had.
I love the beautiful matte finish dishes you always use where are they from?
Whaaaaaaaat I’ve been using Soda Stream brand syrup. It was really hard to find
I have a tonic water (sunny select) which is 6 year old in my cabinet close/unopen, is it still safe to use in cocktail.
Need to try this, just without the sugar, should be interesting…
Would it be possible to use a dandelion root instead of cinchona bark? Dandelion roots are extremely bitter if you have ever tried to taste them.
Glen, how can I adjust your recipe for cinchona root POWDEREd, since this is all I have
If we mix the syrup with water in the keg can we get tonic water directly? Looking forward your reply, Thanks!
After reading the description and hearing Glen speak that paragraph word for word, I am wondering if Glen uses a teleprompter…
So is quinine only an issue for those with conditions or on certain meds? Or just too much is bad for anyone?
Heyo there, could you make a video about how you make all your ice types?
I like Fevertree Indian natural tonic with Voyager Gin (Plymouth Gin) from Pacific Distilleries for medicinal purposes only, of course.
Just buy some bitrex and you’ll have a lifetime supply of tonic water. That thing is so bitter that a grain dissolved in a gallon of water is too much
you could make a high potency bark extract and give it to a pharmacy, university or Pharmacorp for a gc.
the dosage of a liquid is a lot easier and safer than powder or shreds.
Id suggest you try it because my mom uses it just for that problem.
DO WHAT YOU WANT to DO BUT when you take YOUR LIFE in YOUR HANDS KNOW WHAT you’re doing.
I drink the chinchroa tea about a gram of powder I love the quinine for me its GREAT medicine. THAT dose makes me feel like a kid again.
I suffer from dreadful cramps and find that hsving a bottle of tonic water with me all the time helps.
Would using simple Syrup or a Flavoring Syrup change the end Results?
The autosubs keep saying Chinchilla bark.
Now all I can see in my mind is a Chinchilla the size of a dog. And all I can think of is how soft that little bastard’s ears would be.
He never said how much sugar he added. Or really how much of any of the ingredients. I guess you just do it to taste.
What brand of saucepan do you use in this video? It’s beautiful!
i just know loads who take it abroad as it helps malria prevention
Tonic water is bad it just tastes bad i like gin but not tonic water
I keep thinking that this drink would be the perfect place to infuse with marijuana (where permissible). I think the flavor would play well with Gin. I couldn’t think of a more refreshing way to write off a night..
Better safe than sorry and Harvard might make you sorry. Not true on the recommended dosage level, this is why people are getting hurt. Start at 50mg and up to 500mgdaily or twice daily…. but I am no Doc. How do you feel about Ivermectin for Sars-CoV-2? Hydrochloroquine Phosphate for rads and 5g?
I think I got diabetes just by watching you pour that sugar in.
Dr Judy Mikovitz says that quinine and zinc is legitimate. Harvard is a dirty institution.
Hello glen i have struggled for 3 years to figureout a way to get clear quinine powder looks like the beverage makers use a very tiny amount of pure quinine and use bitter orange extracts to flavour the tonic water.
U bin talkin aboot this tonic water makes wife try it 1st!!!!!
For some reason I find gin disgusting, almost like terpertin. Vodka tonics are one of my favorites though, never knew it was so complicated.
Fantastic! Been waiting for this one for a while. Keep up the good work Glen
Could you please show us your setup for soda water, (carbonation setup)
The recipe is interesting and the health warnings and link to a webpage are very helpful. The health effects can be serious if the advice is not followed, but this recipe appears to be very safe. I look forward to the cocktail videos coming in a few weeks.
did he make tonic water or syrup?? i am so confused. why so many ingredients just for tonic water??
Quinine glows under black light. You can see how intensely quininated your tonic water is and adjust by bark infused water to tune it. I guess
No, it isnt because it’s an anti inflammatory, it’s because an insane orange moron heard about them from someone who heard about them from someone else, and thinks thats reason enough to tell everyone to take it. Sort of like we should all inject bleach.
Can you show us how to make birch beer? It’s a Pennsylvania favorite!
Or…… U could go to the supermarket and buy some ready made and safe
It’s telling a lot about the original recipe when they figured to use booze to make the mixer go down easier
I have tried a few Gin & Tonics and I thinks it’s a terrible cocktail. I have not once had a good one, it’s always just passable. I’d rather make a martini with my gin, and I don’t like strong cocktails that much. Seems like something you have to get used to liking and I choose not to get used to it.
I’ve been a gin and tonic drinker for around 42 years. Mostly I’ve always stuck with Schwepps. Fevertree is now my favorite (although I have been experimenting with some of the tonic syrups). For me it needs that quinine bitterness and plenty of fizz. I do agree that Fentimans needs to be at the bottom. It has a very artificial lemon-lime taste to me.
I do it pretty much the same way. I use different spices for my personal taste, but I’m also using the juices from orange, lime and lemon. But I will try it this way.
George Carlin said “you need a little danger in your life, take a chance in life”
Another thing to try is cold press espresso with tonic. If you have a Flair then this is very easy to make at home.
Tonic water tastes like rubber bands… I never understand why anyone would drink it…
I love tonic water. sometimes I just drink it on it’s own with lime, or lemon.
I’m going to make this anyway, I normally just drink fizzy water alone, but wanted to know if the flavour of the peels came thro
Interestingly (or not), as a child, while I knew there the highball was called a “gin and tonic”, I only knew of the mixer as “quinine water”.
In any case, I’d love to see your take on tonic water’s more antiquated – yet potentially more Millennial friendly – sibling, bitter lemon. That was my Grandpa Morty’s go-to beverage, without any hooch.
Don’t mean to hijack, but I’m still awaiting a KFC update.:)
Oh dear, Cleghorn didn’t discover quinine. Cleghorn said nothing about gin either. The cinchona tree was already used by the Spanish in South America by at least 1630, quinine is a chemical that was isolated in 1820 (way after Cleghorn in 1751). Quinine wasn’t given to preventatively to soldiers in India until 1850 and not with gin. Tonic water wasn’t invented until the 1860s, and it was in Britain as a digestive, not a malaria cure. The first G&T ref comes from 1868. Chloroquine isn’t a derivative of quinine either. the two compounds aren’t related. Oh and tonic water won’t cure/protect you from coronavirus. Fun video, but not very accurate!
I was not aware until now there was an unsafe way to make tonic water
5:52 “talking aboot this” I’m Canadian and that’s the first time I’v actually heard someone say aboot.
Google?? Really?? People! Google has been censoring information for a long time! It will only allow information approved by the powers that be! It’s so easy to make sugar free tonic water!
He is right, tonic water is not too good source of quinine. You can make your own Tonic water from cinchona bark though. But be EXTREMELY CAREFUL, CINCHONA BARK IS REAL POISON! If any amount of cinchona dust is present in your tonic due to poor filtration, you are in for a big trouble.
Cinchona is a SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS plant. I myself experienced “drunkness” from homemade cinchona tincture after only 13 drops. I didn’t know I have to filtrate the tincture properly. If I took daily recommended dose of 75 drops I may have died.
Another danger is that the EFFECTS OF CINCHONA ARE POSTPONED and you may feel great the whole day after drinking it. Poisoning will start to show off after like 20 hours or even more and lasts up to 2 days.
This being said. If you know what you do and can filter it properly, Cinchona bark is available over the counter and you can get enough of quinine from it.
Thanks for sharing, I do not drink any pop because of sugar content.
But will a smaller dose of quinine still allow more zinc into the cells? That is the question. Homemade tonic water could easily have 2 or 300 mg of quinine. Also, harvard & is garbage, everyone knows they have been busted for fraud, basically selling their degrees, big surprise.
So we listen ONLY to the quacks who are forced to push big pharmaceuticals on us or face being stuck off. I will stick to my indian TONIC water and fresh lemons as they certainly make me feel good. 400 mils morning and night feeling like I could run a marathon.
I’d like to see a recipe the traditional Victorian way carbonating this in the bottle with citric acid and sodium bicarbonate.
I think you’re a quack! Its working and docs like you are looking like idiots! Nobody trists google or Harvard! You’re a fool!
My mom and her friend used to suffer from leg cramps. They were advised to try tonic water and it helped both of them. They are no longer having cramps for years. Havard or no havard approval I know it works
2:40 “PLAQUENIL (hydroxychloroquine sulfate) tablets contain 200 mg hydroxychloroquine sulfate, equivalent to 155 mg base, and are for oral administration.”
Very informative. I’m a nurse practitioner and I agree with Dr Brokstein’s videos. Smart doc
Today Schweppes indian tonic is too sugary for me. But the tonic water I used to drink back in the 80 in Greece was perfect, no sugar, not heavyly carbonated and with a hint of lemon taste. It was perfect. Can’t find it in France. All they know is indian tonic.
Here in Canada where I am my ootions are Canada Dry Tonic, Presidents Choice tonic and Schweppes.
Hello Steve the Barman. Great review of Tonic Waters. I really enjoy a good G&T.. and I have tried several tonic waters. given the tonic water is the most dominant flavor in the drink it follows that a great tonic water is required to have a great G&T. I’m in Alberta, Canada so I’m have a limited number of British options. My go to tonic water has been Schweppes ( mini can ) as I find that the most flavorful and fizziest when poured into the glass. Most recently a nearby store carried Fever Tree and because it was British I had a hunch it would be very good. It was also a bit pricey but then again having come all the way from Britain I would expect to pay more. My gin buddies and I were looking forward to the Fever Tree none of us had tried it before. We thought it was pretty good but not as good as the Schweepes. I am keen to try your ‘out and out’ favourite Merchants Heart or the Schweppes 1783 although I am not sure if I will be able to get those on this side of the pond. I found the Fever Tree.. so maybe now that I know what I’m looking for I might have some luck. I am curious to know what if any Gin brands were part of the testing.. I’m guessing there were multiple gin brands as you didn’t seem to give the gin brand much weight in your comparative testing. In closing… thanks again for the review.
This dude is dumb I have lived in North Carolina my whole life and the two BBQ sauces are either tomato based or vinegar this stage coach sauce is dumb
I am not sure if it is the same thing as 1783, but in Australia we have the Schwepps Signature Series Bright Tonic. Its fantastic.
I use the Schweppes 1783 crisp tonic, and for me it’s the best across the board with my gins, the effervescence is great, and I always pour down a bar spoon, looks good in company too lol! I mix on a 1 to 2 (gin to tonic). Do also like the Aldi tonic with a London dry gin, again a nice crisp taste, my (in the week) gnt, Schweppes at the weekend!!
Q Indian Tonic Water with Sipsmith. is The best Tasteing Gin and Tonic I have ever had……I make it myself as my night cap.every night…
Quinine is one (of many) words I had never heard prnounced before, so my mental guess was kwi-neen. Turns out I was off a bit
I find that more acidic coffees are really good with tonic. I’m a teenager, but I think that only drinking fantas and colas is a little boring, because they only have sweet taste, while coffee and tonic have a very pleasant bitter and acidic tastes. Great video!!!!! I wish I could like this twice.
I take large doses of most drugs weak people die when consuming bark
8 minutes for mixing 2 ingredients? let me hit dat dislike button
Are these tonics just sparkling water?? Anything special to look for? Can we find these im america, maybe wholefoods?
Hydroxychloroquine is being used as a prophylaxis. 17:03 “Please follow your licensed medical professional’s instructions.” Well, who is giving it to all these thousands of frontline personnel around the world? Surely medical professionals? They must have some evidence of its prophylactic benefits. Also, 10:55, “…a very small sample of patients, none of whom had terribly advanced COVID-19…”. But that’s the point a prophylaxis isn’t meant to cure you when you’re terribly advanced it’s to prevent you from getting to that stage. And that’s indeed what happened. It’s like saying, “Well, it’s being given to frontline personnel, yes, but none of them have terribly advanced COVID-19, so, it doesn’t prove anything…” (???)
I am asking from my experience: Is it normal to get a thickening fizzy foam when you pour your espresso shot over the tonic drink? I almost always have to remove it before drinking it. Any tip to get rid of it?
Tomo mentions he uses “cold brew concentrate”. Is it something different than standard cold brew? What is the recipe?
Nice video, but you never mentioned the origin of Espresso Tonic. It was Koppi in Helsingborg at their former café!
nice production but i prefer coffee slushees to beat the heat. just brew, freeze & blend. no other ingredients or ice to dilute coffee flavor. maybe you can make a video about coffee slushees. thanks.

Tonic water is great for my leg cramps. Grandmother said try it, I did, it worked. Now, it is my go to when I get muscle cramps:)
If you’re after a particularly good tonic water, then Fever Tree is highly recommended. Not sure if it’s available in the US though…
I swear to God, that man throws more hard liquor over that bench than I can afford to buy.
I’m late, but thank you for bringing at least a handful of brain cells to the chloroquine craziness. We need more research, facts, and reason
I want a whole channel of you making a drink and talking about science stuff.
THANK YOU for this. Especially the criticism of how media treats bunk science (makes us all look bad…and contributes to why so few people understand or recognize actual peer-reviewed research vs. media hype).
The Q-T prolongation may well take Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine off the market. We shall see.
Really well done. Your chloroquine discussion took some courage. Thanks for standing up. On another note, G&T are fantastics.
So I guess this means no “Cocksuckin G&T” video? (From Letterkenny)
Quinine is also great for muscle cramps. If you have many cramps drink tonic water, it really helps.
Bayer is making available out of the goodness of their national socialist hearts hundreds of cylinders of Zyklon-B. Such beautiful philanthropy.
perfect for watching Glastonbury reruns, I’m feeling supersonic
Give me gin and tonic
Is bitter lemon available in Canada? If so you should try to make it. It has quinine
gin and tonic was created to help fight malaria in the jungles of British India, quinine is an anti parasitic
This rekindled my husband’s love for gin! Gin and tonic was his drink of choice in the late 70’s. As a field supervisor for what became FEMA, they were based out of Sacramento CA. Most nights were spent closing down Fanny Ann’s Salon. He swore off gin. Only to visit it again after he watched this episode with me. Wonderful cocktail!
I’m Sucking On A 300mg Quinine Tablet Watching This
I LOVE The BITTER Taste
Doctors Refuse To Prescribe Quinine
It Is Illegal To Prescribe Hydroxychloriquine in Australia
Quinine Is Natural,,Hydroychloriquine Is Synthtic/Artificial Poison
That’s weird; the video’s labeled “gin and tonic” but you’re serving tea.
All the tea.
I love ❤️ it when YTers I enjoy turn out to be people whom I can also respect.
My previous comment included some regrettable language and thus earned a deletion, for that, I apologise… but truthfully, this video sucked, Greg. I don’t disagree with your opinion I just don’t need the lecture.
Update: after a VA study looked into this it appears that chloroquine has no benefits and may be harmful as the group who took chloroquine died at a higher rate. As a result they are no longer using chloroquine to treat Covid 19.
“I like mine pretty limey”
It was invented by limeys, so there’s that
This was brilliant, Greg. Love all your videos but this kind of truth was much needed. You’re an inspiration, man
Just last month I made myself a tonic syrup using cinchona bark extract (filtered through a 5 micron filter) and some other spices and herbs and was joking around that I didn’t think it would mix well with coffee. Apparently I’m wrong and will have to try making this.
Potentially poisonous tonic water? The perfect mixer for my almost certainly methalated home gin!
Thanks for watching everyone! Check out our bagged Milk T-Shirts ( https://teespring.com/stores/glen-friends-cooking) Full recipe in the description box above.
Hi Glen, great videos! I was wondering how to get the different roots and barks (and the cheese culture for cheese curds!) in Canada. We live in Western Africa, but we have people coming from Quebec in January. Thanks!
In China they give people hi dose vitamin C, D and zinc but they use some Cuban drug instead of the French stuff.
That fish tank lady is being investigated by the police for potential murder of her husband. Who she filed for divorce and was actually a avid Trump hater and donated money to organizations anti anti-science groups. I feel sorry for you if you fell for this BS. Only under Dr care is this prescribed with Z Pak and Zinc. The cheapest medicine out there and is use as a preventative not a a treatment for a person who is at deaths door. 81 years old is the median age of death of covid RELATED deaths, all had under lying conditions.
Look, alls I’m saying is that I would pay money to be in a studio audience for Internet Drinky Man’s show.
Immuno depressants stop your immun system from destroying itself by doing too much
note: the incident where the woman got sick and her husband died? Yah, they’re invesigating her for murder right now. Her story didn’t hold up, as well as wanting to divorce her husband and her being an allegedly abusive spouse [confirmable records on those facts]…She also HAD the pond cleaner because apparently she worked with Koi…
Just FYI. Love your show.
Drink to sleep, that drug use France is good advise and you a tole and full of it and are drank!!
A belated thank you for speaking up for common sense. You’re a good guy, Greg. Always feel like I’m having a drink with you. Cheers to you.
Bayer pharmaceuticals has recently bought “Monsanto”a marriage made in hell, so now they can just give us Glyphosate in pill form, soooooooo much easier to kill us with!
“wait for the science” I didn’t think I could love you more!
About fifteen yeas ago my best friend made the acquaintance of a lovely lady from England (Ross on Wye). She was interested in the unique culture of South Louisiana and travelled here for a six week stay in order to get a taste of things. It’ is mildly warm and humid here in the summer and I was using G&T to self-medicate the effects of the climate. She was literally aghast at my recipe and was very quick to tell me in her proper British way that I was a douche nozzle and that there is only one true way to fabricate a proper G&T. One must use Gordon’s gin as the backbone. NO other brand is acceptable. One must also employ Schweppes Tonic Water. I was also hastily and vigorously informed that it is “Schweppes” and not “Schweppe’s.” Bitch. By then I was hot and thirsty and in an effort to accelerate the now tedious operation I opted to assist her composition by slaughtering, skinning, and butchering a lime. Even though I held the knife her menacing glare stopped me in mid slice. Shaking her head side to side she informed me in a very Audrey Hepburnish tone of voice that in polite society, citrus products are eschewed when it comes to this symbol of the now (thankfully!) defunct British Empire. Now hopelessly parched but unwilling to show impatience I cooly waited for her description of what had to be some required uber high class high society amazingly complex mini ice sculpture to chill the libation. Instead, I received a jolt as if I had been hit in the face by a silver plated Champagne bucketful of ice water as she smilingly responded to my chilling inquiry by retorting “no dear, proper ladies and gentlemen use no ice.” But I had the last word. There is no justice quite like the justice of the poet as she quizzically watched me put the cap back on the bottle of gin, then as her puzzled stare turned to horror, throw the entire tray save the gin into the brown waters of the Amite River. Then, jumping in the water and swimming to the shade of a cypress tree, I whiled away the remainder of the afternoon sipping lukewarm Gordon’s gin while cooling off in the river.
Wow. As a pharmacist I’m blown away at how thorough and accurate you are, even going so far as citing the studies and explaining the importance of sample size, control/comparison groups, and even validity of the authors and institutions themselves.
Side note: the syrupy G&T looked amazing
” Out of the goodness of their IG Farben hearts”……. I caught that…..Good one!
Texas medical doctor Dr Yvette Lozano explains her experience with treating her patients with hydroxychloroquine.
“These are my experiences, these are patients who walked in my office…”

Holy crap! This is the most beautiful example of critical thinking and information literacy I’ve seen yet!!! If you are ever in my area, my husband and I would like to buy you a drink. Cheers!
I was introduced to gin and tonic in Hong Kong in the 1960s because an INCREDIBLY beautiful young Eurasian lady objected to scotch on my breath. I found the drink and her very pleasurable and still drink it on occasion today. Yes, she was INCREDIBLE… and I proudly carry the memory as a Mark of Satan to this day…!
Everyone in the comments going after the media rightfully so, but don’t forget the main reason the media talked about it (the president pushed it as a cure)
As someone with Lupus who loves your channel, THANK. YOU. SO. MUCH. For this video. <3
Internet Drinky Man needs to be a t-shirt. The superhero of choice in our time of need. Fighting the evils of thirst, boredom, misinformation and sobriety.
Thanks for the explanation, I bought some today not sure if it’s just sparkling water. I really like the sharp flavor of this tonic water
Always ask if it’s peer reviewed, and if the results are reproducable! Also, I think that fishtank lady is being investigated for murder now…
I’m awfully glad that YouTube decided to finally reinstate this video!
Gin & Tonic weather is fast approaching, and I’m excited. After much research on this subject, I’ve concluded that the best way to make one is to shake 2 oz. of Ungava gin with a good squeeze of lime juice with ice, strain that into an ice-filled glass, and top it up with Fever Tree Elderflower tonic. Even my girlfriend, who is not a gin fan, likes it that way.
Anyone who honestly believes this is “just a flu” is an idiot. Anyone calling it a leftist power play is blind. This virus is real, it’s a natural evolution of something we’ve been fighting for years. It happened before and it will happen again, and it isn’t being made to happen by China, Democrats, or any secret conspiracy. How do I know all this? My family works in medical. A lot of my family. I hear things, I ask them things. I can’t repeat all the things I’ve heard but if you actually know the people on the ground trying to keep people safe and alive, you know this isn’t a joke or a conspiracy, it’s a crisis. Anyone who disagrees with me can keep their garbage opinions to themselves, because this isn’t an opinion, it’s a goddamn fact.
PS: Thanks Greg for making an awesome and informative video. You rock.
You Never mentioned the Real Power of Zinc..!
Taken with Tonic water as the delivery system with 100mg of it..to your body to fight the Virus..for people who had Covid..it Worked for them..Period.! That’s Speaks MUCH louder than any study or your research. Google Zinc to fight Virus etc..and Watch the Utubes.
Awesome video dude. Love the analysis, very clear and fact based.
I’m a mostly dry Mormon who is fascinated by this channel. I’ve watched dozens of these, but THIS one makes me want to join Greg’s cult.
An 18 minute video about having a 5 minute cocktail! My style.
Now that more rigorous studies on hydroxychloroquine have been done, you may consider updating this episode. This is, after all, a pandemic which has killed over 500,000 people and your information is very much out of date.
Currently injecting bleach and sunlight per the president’s instructions behind the podium last week. If only I had caught his video before doing so and wasn’t currently very dead now.
Great video. The G&T is one of my very favorite drinks. As a STEM professional who worked his way through college as a pharmacy tech, this issue makes me shake with anger if I let myself think about it too much. Thank you for doing your research and citing your sources properly.
Gin & Tonic won’t cure Covid-19, but it might make you feel better! BUT, only 1 or you will likely hurt your immune system.
Yo Internet Drinky Man, one more fun fact about quinine: it can exacerbate or cause cardiac arrhythmia. I get occasional atrial fibrillation, where my atria (the smaller of the heart’s chambers) start to lose their regular rhythm and do a funky jazz beat. It’s not fun. I have always loved Campari but I can’t drink it any more, as every time I do, my heart goes all funky. Now before you go all science-y on me, yes, this is “anecdotal” but I googled and found that this is a known attribute of quinine.
From what I understand Hydroxy doesn’t work on it own so that maybe why the study’s failed. It needs to be mixed with zinc and the quinine helps your body absorb the zinc. I’m not a doctor but I watched one on TV!
Surely you could isolate quinine from the bark, use the safe amount and just use that with your botanicals.
Fun fact about Beefeater: It has often been named the worst tasting Gin in the world in multiple comparisons.
As a bartender, this dude knows way more than fellow bartender Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez does and he’s much more engaging. He should run for U.S. Congress as well.
Been enjoying your videos for a while, but this video is what made me decide to start supporting you on Patreon. Keep up the great work and stay safe, internet drinky man.
Gin and Tonic cures boredom even if it doesn’t cure that Rona.
I just made this. This is really easy and only took 1 hour from start til I gave my wife a drink. She likes it. I think It needs more cinchona as i like the classic tonic taste. I will try again.
I got liquified zinc and a case of Fever few tonic for health but I’m thinking of adding gin to make a more enjoyable drink for summer. Stuck at home my pool is ready and Arizona heat temperature is now going up to the 100’ I need some enjoyment ✌️
When your bartender knows more facts than the news media.
Honestly I would love if you’d do this more often, like make a drink and then be like, alright let me lay down some facts!
I mean, the story with that older pair is just complete bullshit though. The woman was known for wanting a divorce and hating and abusing her husband and was also a rampant democrat supporter. All of a sudden decided to put blind faith in Trump?
Kinda doubt it.
Wanted to off her hubby?
Quite likely.
Media run with it to make Trump look bad?
Even more likely.
And wow that drink looke refreshing im gonna try this after I type this. =]
Thank you for talking about being discerning when confronted with “scientific evidence”. Also thank you upping my cocktail game. This channel is a real one-stop shop.
I normally hate gin and tonic’s, I just made my first one with the recipe here and it isn’t bad. I still don’t love gin, but this is pretty drinkable.
HC is usually not prescribed alone but in conjunction with an antibiotic and maybe intravenous zinc and vitamin c. There is evidence that this regimen is very effective. I think it is tantamount to second degree murder for govenors to ban the use of this regimen. This should be a choice between doctor and patient. Just because the study in France was spurious doesn’t mean that we should ignore the real evidence that recovered patients who used this regimen are telling us. We shouldn’t have to wait for proper science studies which take years while people are dying who might have been saved. I thank you for your clear explanation of the junk French study but we now have quite a few cases here in the US that show promise with the treatment combination. So please stick to your really wonderful how to drink content.
I must be dunk on my G&T’s or did I hear the BBC just compliment us British and even the British Empire for creating Tonic water adding Quinine to treat malaria. Im dumbfounded!
I have always been a beer man. Because of the covid lockdown I did not want to keep going to the supermarket to get beer so took an interest in spirits. I had whiskey which I have had before, but then found gin. In a way I wish I had never found it because I love it, the amazing spice smell and all that goes with it. My first purchase was Bombay Sapphire, second bottle was tanquery. With proper tonic water ( schreppes, or M & S) and a slice of lemon it is devine:-)
There is just something about Gin, i worked all over restaurants from the kitchen to the bar, lets not forget all those drunk late nights, now days the only alcohol i can stand is Gin or Beer. The GT or Gimlet is my favorit drinks.
