Love my foam roller, don’t buy the white soft squishy ones. They aren’t worth a damn.
I’ve used a foam roller on my back for years, as a cyclist, these are a god send when used correctly… And this guy is totally correct, be gentle on your lower back, I like to stretch out well before I use it, makes a lot of difference…
Use a professional sports physio.
Also there are two types of rollers at least soft and hard shelled. Hard is very painful to use.
Unrequited love on display here. And some inappropriate touching.
Sir ji benign joints hypermobility syndrome ki exercises bhi btain
This is super helpful; thanks for posting! I learned these exercises many years ago but couldn’t remember exactly how to do them, especially now that I’ve got arthritis in my shoulders which makes it a lot harder to support my weight on my arms the way I think I remember learning. This looks entirely doable, and will be a huge help in getting my body back to where it needs to be.
I would love to see a similar video addressing upper body and over-hip uses of the foam roller, too, but this is a great start.
Looks like it took him a while to remember the thing you flush out is lactic acid
Epic routine great form check my new foam roller wheels training I’m down to get you a set 2 train or review
Please visit http://www.instagram.com/aralan_shop for massage rollers and other fitness accessories.
I’ve not heard advice before to go ACROSS the direction of the muscle fibres you’re rolling. I understood you have to follow the direction of the fibres, in the same way a masseuse would when giving a massage…
Great video. I have a question please. When is the best time to use the foam roller after a ride? Immediately while still warm, after you shower, next day? Thanks
Dan doesn’t look like a professional cyclist, he looks like man who sits at his desk playing games all day……..never judge a book by it’s cover aye
Possibly the worst GCN video I’ve ever watched, sadly. The physio is in danger of disappearing up his own arse.
I see a lot of mistakes in the way they use the foam roller.
this would help me on a good leg day but can this foam or technique apply on arms and back?
I use a car antifreeze spray can £1.99 as a roller. Nice and cool in summer. Heaven for tired muscles. Also use it before riding to stimulate blood flow.
Thank you so much! I’ve been so curious about those massage guns! I never knew if they actually helped or not. And i didn’t even know vibrating foam rollers existed! Thank you!
4:33 “Two inches up”……………………………… I lol’ed so hard!! But really thanks for the video It helped, did 51 miles in the Scottish hills yesterday after only getting back into cycling 1 month ago after a 2 year break and I’m really feeling it today!!!
Foam rollers epitomize ‘good pain’. They hurt like hell, but then you stand up and feel great.
This be nice if it didn’t have annoying music that gave me a headache.
Hi, thanks for the tips. I am new to rollers. I suffer upper back pain and would like to use my bumpy foam roller to ease the pain. Does it mean i must avoid rolling directly on the middle of the spine. I tried sideways the way you demonstrated but it was so painful. Feel frustrated as I really want to use it. Any advice? Tia

Well… if I had to listen to critical bench or AthleanX about rolling lower back.. sorry
Should i try this to relief pain? I have a herniated disc lower back.
Shame he’s still under the misguided belief that we need to “flush lactic acid”.
Also what about the hamstrings and gluteus?
For those interested Kelly Starett and MobilityWod is the guru on this matter. some many important points left out of this video
i have the same blue roller but dont know how to use it properly as it really hurts
Sir I have a patient who was suffering cervical spondlosis with thumb numbness bt sir now a time cervical spondlosis was treated but thumb numbness is still present…so what I do…?? Plzz give me reply…

These are really good videos. Most experts avoid mentioning the contraindications, the difficulties and dangers, but that kind of information is really important.
I use this from amazon only a fiver and gets the same results as expensive ones in the gym. this isn’t a plug just sharing is caring
Guys u can try these exercises with a mildly deflated voley ball, just tryed cause I don’t have a foam roller and don’t have enough money to get one and it does work, for me at least
How about use the foam roller in the back, any recommendation?
Great video. I get a lot of knee aches and pains after riding, especially long rides, and foam rolling really helps to ease the pain afterwards.

Who else came here for a tutorial on putting foam rollers in your hair?
Excellent. I’m gonna try these especially the shoulder blade one
Respected sir,
Grade-I acl sprain hai meri knee me. 2 months ke rest with plaster lene ke baad bhi knee unstable hai.
Physiotherapy se instability thik ho sakti hai kya.
I get the feeling that many of the products used in videos by this Matt Rabin guy are just cases of false advertising. While foam rollers can be used to aid in the process of stretching certain muscle groups more effectively using one, along with stretching in general, doesn’t actually help remove remove lactic acid from the body. Stretching is important for maximizing of muscle gain during recovery as well as getting rid of cramps and some discomfort by getting the muscles to relax but you aren’t going to get rid of any soreness or aching caused by lactic acid buildup in any significant way by doing so. Same thing goes for using a masseuse or “kneading” the muscle since any fluids you displace will simply return to their low pressure region as soon as you remove pressure (You can see this effect by pressing on the surface of your skin and letting go. The lightened capillary beds beneath your skin will refill from all directions and return to its regular color immediately). The only way I’m aware of to quickly remove lactic from the body is by straining the entire muscle at once (usually by doing short full on running sprints) to get the acid out of the muscle and into the main blood steam repeatedly and keeping your heart rate up for a good while (around 30 minutes). In football we called these Suicide Drills. The whole point is to get the lactic acid out of the muscle and to the liver to be metabolized so that the kidney can filter it out. But back to my original point, I’d recommend taking anything this Matt Rabin guy says with a grain of salt. I get the feeling he doesn’t really know what he’s talking about.
Many thanks. Picked a roller up the other day and this really helped. Alan
I’ve heard hips high!,? Difference? Opinion? When rolling mid back.
Question: is there a difference between a flat foam roller and a spikey one?
I have the blue on in this video. It was gift and sat around for two years. I have real bad sciatica. I often get back pain and cramping. A desk job doesnt help to improve it. One day I got over my fear of using the roller. I did t watch any how to videos. I just used common sense and caution. My life changed after that point. The roller is the ONLY thing to give me relief for not just a few hours or a day but a couple of days. My two sense worth of advice is if you have a serious condition or prior implants or surgeries than avoid using this. If you have mild pain, have a brain and know your limits these rollers surpass their value exponentially.
Athlean x gives great explanation whY NOT to roll lower back (imo). My physical therapist has advised me against it as well..so im not but i like to see what info is all out there. Seems some say its ok. But im gonna go ahead and play it safe and not..hurt like hell when i tried anways.but i do love it for upper back and seems like it might feel nice in the lat area as long as i can do it right lol
who else is watching this at 11 pm CET +1??
hit the like button fam
This might be a stupid question…but does using something like a foam roller cause any damage to veins and arteries? You’re basically smashing all of your muscle, etc. For some reason this always crosses my mind when I watch people foam rolling. I’d like to try it myself, but I don’t want to hurt anything.
How do they finish so quickly? I’ve been foam rolling the same places for 30 minutes and the knots keep on reappearing for some reason. This is my first time foam rolling though.
“Top 10 in the world, not ever just this year”…what a great back-handed compliment
great upload, read about the benefits but couldnt figure out how to use one. Job done:-):-)
Thanks for posting this video! Great tips. After a bit of research I recently bought the exact same foam roller. Its good to know that some pros use the same one!
I fucked my back up yesterday. Possibly from rolling on this hard roller for the first time
Thanks for the video, I know that the foam roller is really helpful in preventing injury.
I find foam rolling difficult to maneuver around on it and hold position because of very poor core stability and stomach muscles.
