I’m genuinely confused, these are all good sizes for one meal. For Amy’s for example since it has the most calories meaning easiest example, if you were to eat 3 of those a day that would be 1,140 a day just 860 cals below the national 2,000 calorie diet for a regular person and this isn’t meant to sustain all of you’re nutritional needs fruits and vegetables outside of these portioned meals are meant to be had alongside or in between meals meaning you could have three snacks of 220 cals a day as well, meaning protean bars, fruits veggies and so on. It would’ve been nice to see the advice of adding foods in between these meals if these meals are a staple in people’s lives rather then just saying it’s unsustainable and possibly discouraging people who are overweight from using these from what they are meant for, dieting.

After my experience this weekend, I am DONE with the frozen meals! I have spent the entire weekend with the worst case of food poisoning ever after eating a Lean Cuisine Swedish meatballs with pasta meal for lunch on Friday afternoon. It was nasty and even just thinking about it makes me feel nauseated. I have NEVER been this sick in my life. I spent all of Friday night and Saturday morning vomiting violently and have had diarrhea since then. I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck. Never, never, never will I ever purchase any of these frozen meals again!
i have noticed while watching your excellent, informative videos that you are saying “ahhh” quite often as you’re trying to remember nouns… you need a brain supplement (fish oil) and those “ahhhs” will go away!

When you say to drink more water when you are consuming a lot of salt, you mean because a person is going to feel thirsty or to flush out the salt?
The portion control part is the best part. I usually put a side salad with these though to get more veggies and feel full. But for losing weight, eating these has been pretty good for me. Not to mention there’s no leftovers really to go back and have seconds.

This did not answer the question that the title gives. It names all the frozen foods that are good for you, and what frozen foods that you shouldn’t eat.
I frequently have Amy’s bowls for lunch and the portion size, while seems quite small, it works out pretty well as it doesn’t fill you up so you lose energy digesting it in the afternoon (doesn’t make you tired and drag you down.) Thanks for the reviews!

Loved the info. I am Asian, so I can give you tell you that the ingredient, “sweet rice flour,” actually comes from “sweet rice,” which is just a short grain rice (with no sugar).
Organic food is the worlds biggest CON. There is no evidence they are “better” for you and they certainly DON’T “taste better!” I used to go to an organic college and their food was so bad that I once went for 5 days living off only tap water. They even hade the audacity to go round bragging and boasting! The whole culture behind organic is snobby, retarded, aggressive, in your face and stupid. All I ever get is abuse from organic enthusiasts and I just don’t understand why they have to make such a fuss over something they know nothing about. when I lived at the glass house college I had stomach cramps diarrhea, head aches, vomiting, kidney stones, colds, flue, dizziness and other sickness. Their food was so bad but all they could do was gloat. There is nothing wrong with conventional food, it’s cheaper, tastes better, is better for you and is safer as well as many other qualities over so called “organic!” GMO’s are the way foreword. Organic is history and is redundant and obsolete! LONG live the oil trade!
I personally do not eat frozen meals. I have yet to find one without soybean oil or soy lethicin. Soy oil is a highly processed oil that causes inflammation in the body. Wish companies would stop using cheap unnecessary oils in their products.

I am about to go on short term diet well that’s relavent cause what’s short for one isn’t for another I am gonna go on a 6 month diet of 1500 calories a day yes 300 is a meal 100 is a snack I have done this before with little exercise just to gain it back I had lost 50 lbs I gained
It back and relost it in 2016 but that wasn’t even trying that was grief after losing my husband I lost it in 4 months just to gain 70 in 7 months I am maintaining 205 more than I have ever wieghed In my life I want to lose 50 with lots of cardio and start body building and pole dancing at that point I will go up to 1800 untill I get to the size I want to be then move up to 2000 if I am still losing with intense work.outs I will bump the calories up until I start maintaining but 6 of these a day not the healthiest but not gonna do these but 6 months.
I eat this once a week if that when I don’t have time to cook. But I add to them I add veggies and sometimes even a salads to go along with it to fill me up.

Why do you always give canola oil a bad vibe? When we were at the Heart Center, the resident dietician recommended to use canola oil (instead of coconut oil) cuz it is good for the heart of my brother who had undergone surgery. Coconut oil is a big no no. She stressed to use canola and olive oil and that’s it.

my mom found these vacuum sealed frozen meals that have very small ingredient lists and no preservatives. I think because it’s vacuum sealed it keeps everything fresh that way. I don’t remember the brand though:(

Honestly your Walmarts and other stores in Chicago seem to have much more than in NY metropolitan area stores. Plus we hardly have any Walmarts and Costco’s which aren’t convenient to public transportation. It doesn’t make any sense

The cauli power frozen pizza has 37 carbs and 2 to 3 grams of sugar the same nutrient fact on a store bought apple pie. Plus approximately over 300 calories. So if he considers that super clean than its really ok to buy a fresh hot pizza from the pizzeria.

The pasta was an eye opener. I had (been) purchasing gluten free pasta, and ONLY RAO tomato sauce from the inner aisles, which to me is [Processed ] whatever. If my husband does the shopping, he’ll buy by $$s to cents on weight averages. [[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[ I do not.!
Our extra virgin olive oil is purchased through on line and quite pricey but very simple and grade A1. I couldn’t believe the other STORE BOUGHT EVOO was so thick and heavy with comparison what we use now. Grapeseed oils are good if read thoroughly of any add on. The only thing I buy in frozen would be Green Giant broccoli and Lima beans. My question to date, now, is what butter or butter spread would be the better for health? Hoping to buy on line whole foods from now onsoon and skip the grocery store completely. I am interested in the bread you spoke of in the freezer at under $7.00.

Can you please explain to me why you think sodium is so important? I understand where it may matter for the average American who is sedentary, hypertensive, and overweight. However, a lot of research is now showing that the DASH diet is only effective in lowering blood pressure in people who are “salt sensitive”. So for people who aren’t salt sensitive, who are relatively active, and have an otherwise healthy diet, why does sodium intake matter?

i feel like there is not much variety in good instant/frozen meals in western supermarkets and stores even fast foods, we live in a day and age where we’re we may be busy have no time to cook, or just simply lazy. I think mostly eastern/asian countries are better in this aspect they have much more nicer variety in convenience store foods and affordable meals that can actually fill you with decent nutrition

Also… Microwaves have been proven to be a risk To human Health if you’re standing to close While it is in operation. there is a warning that comes In the Box with each Microwave with the recommendation how far back to stand. Definitely the sodium in frozen foods I feel is unnecessary because they’re frozen…they’re already being preserved. Most people get the majority of their sodium intake from processed foods so if they’re having that and other processed foods on top of sodium that exists in natural foods already, I’d fear the sodium levels would add up quick.

OMG evol… Yes. It’s evil. At my old job they used to stock the lunch freezer with Amy’s and evol entrees. The evol ones ALWAYS tore my stomach up! Was it the carrageenan? Not sure. But I avoid that brand no matter how good it sounds when I’m in a hurry at my favorite grab and go at lunch.

About Lean Cuisine: I tried the lasagna, eating it with a metal spoon. The cheese quickly bonded to the metal, and won’t come off without power tools. This can’t be healthy.

How about expiration dates? Some times the date is printed over pictures or printing on the package and sometimes it is embossed in the same color as a lid or tube making it nearly invisible.

Great tips…..definitely subscribing to your channel! There are a lot of very easy things to do to make your frozen meals a bit healthier. A few examples: eat a yoghurt after or with their meal and it makes the calories increase and it will help it be a more well rounded meal. If your having a Mexican frozen dinner slice a fresh avocado or add fresh veggies to any frozen meal….all it takes is slicing the veggie and it rounds out the meal. You can also cook some frozen veggies, such as the steam fresh veggies and add to your meal. When you have extra time, like on a weekend, cook up a large portion of a favorite meal or meat and make your own frozen dinners that are just as easy to heat up on those busy days you find yourself too busy to cook. Bobby, I like these videos but noticed that you don’t talk about the nutrition facts. Good ingredients are great, but I feel like some of these meals that you approved might have high levels of sodium
The only thing I would emphasize in this video is how to run fast and furious away from anything Tyson. Tyson is one of the worst when it comes to animal cruelty. We all know that the slaughter process is cruel in it of itself, but this corporation makes sure the animals’ entire life existence is sad, disgusting, and should be illegal on all fronts. Also, that Great Value brand…they may use a lot of wholesome ingredients, but you have to question where they get the bulk of that main ingredient, chicken!! What’s the use of eating wholesome condiments thrown on top of Tyson or any other corporate owned chicken? You still do a great job Bobby, but I know we can talk about this stuff all day long 😉
I dont think that Amys meal would fill me up… Food volume wise its only 269g worth of food… I cant work out cause of chronic pain right now, and my maintenance is only 1500 calories. I need at least 500g worth of food, includng a ton of veggies to be satisfied for a long time, but I also have a huge appetite and like to feel full. Usually my meals are between 3-400 calories, but this wouldnt cut it for me. Everyone is different tho.

As a commuting college student, I really like Grainful frozen meals to take with me to campus. They don’t have weird preservatives and most don’t have high sodium levels, just real food and yummy spices!! Definitely the best I’ve seen out there!
i really appreciate this. I had asked on one of your previous videos if you did this. Since I am crazy busy and I work late nights and go to school full time. I usually eat a frozen meal during my break, but i try to incorporate other items like fruits or veggies to bump it up. I have recently been trying to meal prep, but I am someone who can’t really eat the same meal over and over again. Any suggestions?

Thanks for pointing out that the calories were too low. I stopped paying attention to calories a long time ago, so I didn’t realize I still considered 100-300 cal a meal. And when I do notice calories, I still feel guilty for eating more that 300 at a time. Do you have any recommendations for how much someone should be eating for a square meal?

Besides the fact there is a good chance it could be edible and very nutritious… It serves a purpose: to bind the soil to prevent erosion. the things we humans have either hunted and gathered or cultivated and eaten have everything we need to be perfectly well. Big Ag has changed all that, And now we are seeing so much disease. To the woman who asked is it worth paying double for organic? Like I tell my parents in my children… Where better to invest your money than in your sustained health? that budget should come 1st in my opinion. There are options that they say you should only eat organic such as thin skins berries and fruits or things that you will eat the skins.. They readily Absorb Pesticides throughout. the more you eat over a lifetime the more pesticides concentrate in your tissues because we are at the top of the food chain. If you can’t afford to eat all organic there are Easily accessible lists of things you could skip (like bananas, avocados, etc) And things you should never skip( Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, eTC.) And if you’re eating processed foods I wouldn’t spend the extra for organic necessarily… Your body works better on foods that resemble what they look like when they came from the grounds or off the tree. My 2 cents. I am surprised so few physicians have any schooling on Nutrition. It is the 1st defense in keeping us healthy… OK I’ve found my answer. There is no profit in healthy. When both of my brothers had cancer each asked if they should change their Diet. Their doctor’s answer was no!?! There is some great books out there and I referred him there. Carrageenan is a seaweed, I love it naturally, and eat it whole, wonder why it’s so bad when in products? In Ireland, it’s a healing food. Is it that much changed when used in products?
