I bought a 574 (camo pack) from an online seller and from my first look and actual feel up close of the shoe, I was convinced that it was 100% authentic, original, Made in USA 574. Lo and behold, just after 2 days of trying it on and walking around the house wearing it, the midsole foam started to crumble like a stale, month old cake! Fortunately, after 2 visits to Mr. Quickie, I was able to eventually save the shoe. Did I unfortunately buy a fake 574 or was I just unlucky enough to buy an old stock?

I bought the 574 sport v.2s and within 3 months the plastic lace-holes nearest the ankle had been worn right through by the laces. I wore them perhaps 35 times in that period, and never for any exercise beyond walking the dog.

Unlike most trainers, that plastic part is not backed by the material of the upper shoe, and the plastic is too soft for this purpose. I am now either going to have to glue metal washers behind the holes to strengthen them, or drive 70 km to the retailer and hope for a return under warranty (not guaranteed in my country with its poor customer service).

They are very light, comfortable and breathable, but this design flaw is a serious fault. It may explain why they are on sale everywhere all the time.

Dudes like him really piss off core New Balance fans. He into the brand now because of a trend, and that won’t sit right with a lot of folks that appreciate the brand. It’s okay to love a brand, but it’s another thing to get into it because you think it’s “popping”, and it comes off pretentious and disingenuous.

New Balance, like every other brand not fancied by hype-beasts were always trending. You just weren’t paying attention. But there is some positives to this, and it brings more awareness to other brands that have been doing a better job then Nike at making shoes.
