These often change the way you walk, which can lead to knee pain. Weak or unbalanced thigh muscles. The quadriceps, those big muscles in the front of your thigh.
The pain of runner’s knee may be caused by irritation of the soft tissues or lining of the knee, worn or torn cartilage, or strained tendons. Any of the following can also contribute to runner’s.4 causes of knee pain and how to fix them 1. Runner’s knee.
Where does it hurt? Pain under your kneecap that feels worse after running and when you walk up or 2. Patellar tendinitis. Where does it hurt? Pain below your kneecap and at the top of your shin; it sharpens on the run. 3. Iliotibial.
Knee pain linked to Patellofemoral Syndrome is the most prevalent orthopedic condition seen in sports medicine. It is the type of pain felt at the front of the knee around the kneecap. Since it is common in people who participate in sports that involve running and jumping, it is also dubbed the “runner’s knee.”.
Inner knee pain when running may be a sign that you are overloading the cartilage on the inner side of the knee which can result in a meniscus injury. Altered foot biomechanics, decreased knee stability and poor glutes strength all affect the angle of the knee so.Knee pain can be caused by a handful of different conditions. Common conditions include runner’s knee (or patellofemoral pain syndrome), IT (iliotibial).Runner’s knee is a common problem affecting the front of your knees when running.

Am not sure if this is common in Runner’s knee but I just noticed on my 9mile run my knees after wards were sore for about two min and the rest of my running was fine with no knee soreness, the following week I did 10 miles afterwards my knee was very sore like an aching feeling and I was thinking maybe I should ice it, but I didn’t, I have an 8mile long run tomorrow am hoping my knees won’t be sore afterwards, so basically am asking will these exercises help with soreness in knees after running or do you have other exercises for soreness in knees after long run I can get access to on your website?

This makes no sense. I was a yoga teacher and I have done full body strength training for years I’m in the best shape I’ve been since I was 18. The only thing that kills me is running and my knees. It has nothing to do with strength or flexibility but everything to do with technique and how your running. It’s mechanics. I think an mechanical engineer would do better to explain why there is toouch pressure on the knees. This is just a theory that’s unsubstantiated.
My pain is on the outer side of my knee. Bending my knee or using stairs caused pain.

I’m 18 started working out hard last year. Went up to 385 on the back squat and my knee was fucked for months on months after that pr day. Women’s knees are more flexible than men’s(since our knees are not aligned straight with our hips), so my dr told me to wear a knee brace on whichever knee gives me trouble and it definitely helps a lot.

I got this and went to the doctor cause I couldn’t walk on that leg and they put me on some physical therapy and exercises to do. Take breaks when running, especially when you need them! Don’t over do it!

I’ve started running a few weeks back.. Since I’ve to take a test soon,I went through a rigorous running pattern.(After spending an hour for stretching and warm up session) One day my left knee gave out and I took rest for ten days and now I am fine. But after a walk of four kms I felt my right(not the cured leg) knee unstable I took a three day rest but now I have a dull pain even when I am sitting without doing anything. I can’t take rest again since I have my test soon.

Strong Glute medius is life! So is transverse abdominals! It’s a game changer in how your body moves if they are strong. Also strengthening abbuctors along with glute med, and stretch hip flexors helped me! Thanks for this! I need a new foam roller:)
I ve got flat feet, my knees are gone, all sorts of damage, i still train hard, no one has ever explained to me what you just have, but deep inside i always knew it was related. On Monday I started getting the beginning symptoms of runner’s knee (lots of clicking/snapping sounds, and pain in front of knee), so this week I decided to take a break from running and focus on these injury prevention exercises. How many times a week should I be doing these? Is every day too much or is it golden? I’ve done these two days in a row so far and I think its helping. My several months of experience shows that if you don’t walk frequently in your resting days if you run even just for couple of minutes you will get knee pain even if you warmed-up and have a slow pace of like 7 minutes/km.

I had runners knee when I began to take up running for the second time in my life, I had a self-diagnosed overuse injury to my IT band (so take this with a pinch of salt as my opinion purely on a poor understanding of A level pe). Luckily I paid attention and didn’t continue to run on it after 2 weeks of trying to suck it up.
I was able to treat the injury by paying attention to making sure my foot strike way even (not landing too much on the inside or in my case the outside of the knee), as well as focusing on running in a forward motion having a less bouncy form. By correcting my form and taking some time to rest I was able to go out running again. Hope this helps

Really nice set of exercises guys. I used to ran Marathons and Half Marathons when I was teenager. Unfortunately, I had 3 knee surgeries that I stupidly didn’t recover properly. Since then, I was unable to run without pain and I have the target to finish an Ironman.
The pain was so intense that I gave up running about 8 years ago. It was getting sore even to walk.
I started to do these exercises and with a week I was able to run two half marathons in the same week, relatively pain free. I can run up to 10k completely pain free.

The squat he was doing looked slightly odd to me. I was always taught when I squat my knee should never go forwards. Rather you should sink downward bending at the knee with the knee staying in the same position. It looked as though he was bending his knee forwards.
Did two exercises from bed just now and the pain is gone. I’m new to running but I’ve technically done half marathons but the goal is to complete it without stopping and having a great time

It is a great one of a kind product for learning how to fix chronic knee pain without the hard work. Ive heard some great things about it and my old buddy Taylor got astronomical success with it.

Knee pain made it became difficult to me, it was very irritating and I was not able focus on my work anything tried many things but did not relief but only Planet Ayurveda herbal remedies helped me a lot.
I have runners knee, hurt really badly when it kicks in. Can’t do my distance running without avoiding it, it is frustrating but it’s all on me I’ve started running on accidented terrains, hill, etc… straight from the start.

I lived with knee problems for a long period and suffered from osteoarthritis. Both of my hips, I deal with this partial labral tears developed prior to reaching 37 years old. boys I started running 3 days 3 days ago. From the beginning I ran 45min, then on the 3rd day I went to 1 hour and a half and this morning I woke up with knee pain. What should I do?

Hi, with the kneeling quad stretch, my heel is against my butt but I’m not feeling any kind of stretch. I’m double jointed, I’m unsure this will actually help. Is there another type of quad stretch I can do that will achieve the same result?
Needed this. I was doing squats today and reached 505x 3. After I was done I felt stiffness and pain in my left knee. Mind you I had surgery on this knee a couple of years ago and nearly injured it in a failed max our attempt for 600. I wonder if my it’s much better now and I want to see if my knee pain affected my max out attempt.

Deep squat hold for at least 5min will help you a lot. It should be done at the end of all the stretching.

Not saying this will work for everyone, but Im 38 and I used to play sports through high school and beyond but running always got my right knee, IT band, shin splints etc… starting back in high school. I tried barefoot running this year after reading studies on it, very slowly at first back in march around the time of this video, and all pain is gone and my smaller muscles are much much stronger and noticeably bigger and my balance is way better. I still cant quite run as fast on concrete but Im faster on grass or dirt. After 4 months of daily barefoot starting with walking and now running up to 4 miles a day, I have thicker padding over the toes and ball and a bit on the heel but its smooth just thicker.
My feet have learned to respond instantly to small rocks or changes in surface and adapt by softening the foot around the rock, this coupled with reduced pain sensation makes stepping on small things minimal. I ran right through a patch of stickers yesterday, stopped and pulled 3 out of my the ball of my foot and kept going with only slight discomfort and I believe theres still way more toughening up to go. The biggest change has been in my form, I didn’t realize how poor it was and how removing the shoe would make me adapt to run naturally. If you have pain or are recovering from injury its worth a shot while you recover, just go slow.

Wow I noticed the side I was having knee pain this exercise was harder on that side.
There are many factors in treating painful knees at home. One resource I discovered that succeeds in merging these is the patella pain pundit (google it if you’re interested) definately the most useful plan that I’ve heard of. look at all the interesting info.

It has been 6 months and my knees still hurt. After my shoulder surgery last year, I couldn’t do any lifting so I started running. After about 5ive months running on a treadmill at 6mpg at 6° incline for 20 min daily, my knees started hurting and no matter how much rest I do, the pain doesn’t go away. I’m doing these “tests” to see what I might be able to strengthen but in this video, it does not say what to look for. Am I looking for one of these activities to hurt more than the others? If that’s the case, should I continue in order to strengthen it or avoid it to promote healing?

I was even more surprised because on top of having weak glutes, I discovered that I broke my foot by doing taekwondo. After recovery my ankle muscles were tight and gave me some problems on the outside of my knee.

What do you recommend for knee pain caused by mild osteoarthritis?
You lost my trust when you said to roll out the IT band. You can’t do this, you might as well role out a strip of hard rubber.
My slightly outward toe position on my left cycling pedal pushed most of my left leg out of alignment. Now my knee aches & my ankle is stiff. What can I do to put my leg back into alignment? Should I stick with the advice in the video?
If not, then what do you think I should do? Also, I have already done a 20 mile walk & three 20 mile runs. My knee pain is still continuous during my runs, but the pain has become less as time goes on.

I went to the Dr. He didn’t address any of what you said. This makes so much since. I was fighting through depression. I stopped training and barely ate. I lost about 15 pounds of muscle in about 2 months. My thighs shrank. When I started back training everything was tense and my knees hurt. This helps me understand why and gives me solutions. How do you fix your knee (and only on one leg) turning inward when I run? the other leg tracks in a straight line but one leg keeps turning into the center. I have to keep looking down and very CONSCIOUSLY forcing my legs to track properly. How can i fix this for good??

Any tips of visceral fat?
I have very little fat on the outside of my abdomen, but my stomach is bulging.
I suspect it is from drinking coffee. When you drink coffee, it releases adrenaline and insulin at the same time, so it turns everything to fat, especially carbs.
The obvious solution is to stop drinking coffee. But I have sleep apoenea and without coffee, I cannot get through a days work. I have cut down to one cup a day though.
Is there any type of workout that hits the visceral fat first?
I am 55 and currently train about an hour a day, four days per week, with a mix of high intensity calistenic type exercises, jogging, a little boxing, interspersed with weight training exercises. This is has had some effect on the visible fat, but has had no effect on the blubber under my abs. I still look like a blob no matter what.
Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

i can do 50 jane fonda side leg lifts with right leg and my left leg was only 10 reps, fatigued out really weak… Thanks now i will make this a new routine.

What helped the most with aching knees was doing side steps with a resistance band around my ancles, doing the clam shell move with the resistance band around my knees and doing the side raises with ankle weights around my ankles.
Tore my meniscus couple years ago never got surgery just healed on its own I’ve been running a lot lately up until a week ago where my left knee (also the meniscus tear knee) started hurting so Idk if I have runners knee or if it’s my meniscus help!!

I can’t fucking run, I can’t enjoying the beautiful jogging which I love so much, my side left and right knee hurt so much, When I don’t do leg workouts for a month it disappears, but If I do only one it appears again and It hurts even when I walk. I have payed 50 € to the doctor and with the machine they couldn’t even find what the issue was, Idk anymore what to do, before I had this problem I used to jog to loose weight, Now I can’t fucking run

I would advise not to sprint downhill on concrete. Im actually having knee issues as I was doing my speed work downhill on pavement trying to increase my mile time.

I was doing my regular exercise routine for 1 month and there was no pain in my knee.
Then I started doing 3 of your exercises for ankle mobility you talked about in a video. I must have overdone them/messed up because that’s when my knee started feeling weird.
Anyways I kept training and also tried doing single legged burpees one day (Jordan Yeoh’s explosive routine). That was the end as I felt my knees were getting damaged.
P.S. I guess that means rest days until the knee pain subsides

It started after incorporating cycling in my training.
I have pain in one knee. Tried that “Jane Fonda” exercise you suggested. I happened to do the not in pain leg first and got to 42 reps before fatigue and a burn at starting at 46. Then tried the hurt side. Fatigue started at 12 reps and serious burn at 14. I got to 50 eventually. After 5 minutes of rest I could squat without a since, and my natural out-turned foot stance was less pronounced. Thais was immediate improved internal rotation of the legs from the hip. Thank you.
Out of pure curiosity, why was this recorded at 50 fps instead of 60?? Kinda odd but if there is a reason I’d love to hear it.
Why isn’t anyone talking about stretching? These strength exercises did not help my knee pain at all. It has been about two months of trying to find an answer. I finally stumbled onto some janky video of a Russian doctor who told me to stretch my quads. It’s now been three days of hour long quad, hamstring and hip stretching and I can actually walk a quarter mile without shooting pain in my knees.

Well after watching this video I believe the cause of my knee pain is increasing my running time from 25 minutes 2 or 3 times a week to 90 minutes per day. In distance is 2.5 miles to 5 miles. I will decrease the amount of time and distance until my knees feels better.
Made that mistake, I am 62 years old, I was trying to get my 1.5 mile time down below 12 minutes, I over did it running sprints at 1:45 per quarter mile…. sure enough the hamstring basically went insane, along with the bursae, and multiple areas of intense pain and swelling 6 weeks now and still can’t run
Pain in the ITB is often caused by tight hip flexors (TFL) and weak glute medius. To counter this focus on strengthening glute medius as opposed to rolling ITB, fight the cause not the symptom.
Good video. I find if I jog too much I start having slight irritation in my right knee but if I stop for a while it heals and goes away. Anyone reading this please pay attention if you start getting this irritation. The first time it happened i ignored it and kept jogging day after day. I have this frontal knee pain when barbell squatting. I can use an empty bar squat half way and pain is so intense I stop. If I keep pushing through that intense pain it gets to where I hardly feel it and I end up squatting 300 lbs for reps. I’m 64 yrs. old…is this arthritic? I don’t want to stop barbell squatting. Thanks
