But what about being the strongest there is?
100 pushups
100 situps
And a 100km run
Thank you for the information. It’s so helpful
Hypoglycemia is a clinical state with low glucose concentration in the blood, usually associated with giddiness, weakness, anxiety, irritability, hunger, palpitation, blurred vision, headache, inability to concentrate, loss of memory, and in severe cases, paralysis, seizures or coma. Patients with diabetes start getting symptoms of hypoglycemia when the sugar levels drop below 70 mg/dl but this can vary widely from person to person. Hypoglycemia usually occurs when a meal is missed or delayed, following unaccustomed heavy exercise or when too high a dose of insulin or diabetes tablets is taken in error.

Excercise at “moderate intensity” is walking at 4 km/h? That is walking pace, and a pretty slow one. By those standards, getting up one floor by stairs is probably “vigorous excercise” or worse. Maybe you should contact a doctor before you do it to see if your body can handle the stress. Make sure you wear your special stair climbing shoes to prevent injury.
I provided help to two persons who`re dealing with Type two diabetes by sharing them “Vαnοjο Fivu”. One of these was able to lessen his HA1c to 5.9 and won in treating his diabetes. The other gentleman has significantly enhanced, his standard fasting blood glucose is 110mg/dL and he`s out of complication from heart trauma, from sacrificing his arms, legs, eye impairment or even neuropathy..
Checking out “Vαnοjο Fivu” (Google it) will allow you to recover from diabetic issues and attain a healthy way of life. My has been following this plan conscientiously for over Fortyfive days. It`s been 5 years since he has been taking insulin shots. He has been a type 2 diabetes patient for 6 years. His eating habits have favorably altered since he has been a passionate reader and follower of this program..
Why do people need to complicate things. Just walk until your tired and walk a little more after that, then gradually you will increase your stamina.
I can’t watch the documentary due to ‘rights restrictions’ in Canada
Until doctors start doing insulin tests as a matter of routine, they are going to continue to miss most. people with “prediabetes.”
It’s 2018. When is the medical establishment going to start to test for insulin routinely?

I think I’d like to politely disagree. I’m an office worker who a year ago got a fit bit. My wife and I challenged each other to 10k steps a day, which given our sedentary lifestyle, was a lot. It transformed our lives. We now join 10k runs and we place in the top 100…well my wife does anyway. Basically, the 10k steps acted as a gateway drug for us into the fitness realm and provided us real and measurable goals we could track. I have dramatically improved my health and we have greatly improved our marriage thanks to this simple device and starting at that basic number.

I discussed “Vαnοjο Fivu” (Google it) to Type two diabetes sufferers. One has been able to treat his diabetic issues as well as achieved a 5.9 HA1c. The other gentleman has drastically improved, his standard fasting blood glucose is 110mg/dL and also he is out of complication from heart trauma, from losing his arms, legs, eye impairment or neuropathy..
It takes me 2 hours to walk 10,000 steps, walking quickly. I always wondered when people were supposed to walk those 10,000 steps.
What about the benefits of taking steps associated with not sitting?
Why does it hurt when you accidentally bite your tongue but not as much when you bite it on purpose
I`m Sixty four years old and I discovered I`ve got diabetic issues ten months ago. I can`t believe that I`ve got diabetes and it worries me that I will also endure the same hardships like my dad did. Thankfully, I`ve discovered this brilliant guide “Vαnοjο Fivu” (Google it). According to my initial test results, I have 7.3 A1C and 183 for my glucose level. I just read the program carefully for a week and now my A1C dropped to 5.9…
You can order online through geopalz.com or check our store locator for a place near you. Thanks!
I discussed “Vαnοjο Fivu” to Type two diabetes patients. One of these was able to decrease his HA1c to 5.9 and triumphed in reversing his diabetes. The health of the other person has significantly improved. His fasting blood sugar was down to 110mg/dL and he`s no longer susceptible to heart trauma, losing his legs and arms, as well as eye impairment and neuropathy..

Bob Paine and the rest of his crew are changing everything mad props to them. U reading dis and haven’t seen that pbs documentary he talks about at the end o dis vid chech it out.
Simply by selecting “Vαnοjο Fivu” (Google it), you`ll overcome diabetes and set you to a more favourable life style. For a period of time of 1 ½ months, my husband has been a passionate follower of the program. It`s been 5 years since he has been taking insulin shots. He`s got been a type 2 diabetes patient for six years. His eating habits get favorably changed since he has been a keen reader and follower of this plan..
I don’t listen to ANYTHING that begins with “Doctors say….”! They’re pill pushers! They learn how to dispense pills, that’s it! I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that this walking lie was only to sell pedometers! Don’t get me started!
XD I regularly get around 15,000 steps five days out of the week, if not more, thanks to my job. And much of that is walking quickly to get from place to place.
I don’t know if 10,000 steps is needed, but I can’t exactly see it being a bad thing either if it motivates people to get up and go for walks.
My mother got a fitbit a few years ago and insisted I get one. She’d always brag about her 200-300 steps at work but mine said I walked 20,000-30,000 steps a day between work and college. I noticed she stopped bragging after that
Tracked my steps once. It turned out that I walk about 25000 steps per day… Just in my 8hr shift. So that goal was easily forgotten anyways lol
Not enough information in this video for instance what is a vigorous workout?
Like a nine year old boy said 500 million straws a day and now look.
Do anyone still doubt natural herbs? I’ve seen the great importance of natural supplements and the wonderful work Dr Daniel dave have done in people’s lives. I wonder why people still spend their money on surgery, injections and drugs each time they are sick. Natural herbs can cure all kinds of illness.
My Diabetes was destroyed totally with natural herbs this year. Prepared by Dr Daniel dave,i Purchased Diabetes herbal medicine from Dr Daniel dave herbal cure and he told me that his Diabetes herbal medicine only takes two weeks to cure Diabetes completely, which i didn’tbelieve, but i had no choice than to purchase, because the diabetes was killing me slowly. When I received the herbal remedy, I only used it for two weeks, it was so shocking to see the outcome, all my diabetes virus disappeared within two weeks of using Dr Daniel dave herbal medicine
I know is hard to believe but am a living testimony, There is no harm in trying natural herbs supplements.
Contact Dr Daniel dave via email;[email protected] gmail.com
Wait…. so what if I walk 15000 steps on the first day of the week and sit around for the rest. Am I healthy?
SciShow being sponsored by Nature completes my scientific life.
I`m Sixty four years old and I learned I`ve got diabetic issues ten months ago. I can`t imagine that I`ve got diabetes and it worries me that I will also endure the same struggles like my dad did. I read the plan very carefully for a week and now my A1C dropped to 5.9…
Walk a lot on the job as an elechicken, gets around 20k steps 5 days a week. Dont really know if I am healthy though.

Fasting and keto cures most people. Exercise generally doesn’t. Which industries fund universities?
Am really grateful and thankful for what @dr_ayeye has done for me and my family. Great Video clip! Forgive me for the intrusion, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you researched Patlarny Sugar Outcome Principle (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a good exclusive guide for reversing diabetes without the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my mate at last got great results with it.
I sort of see it as just a nice goal that isn’t in miles. For some reason people have a hard time comprehending the length of a mile but they do the length of a step, or multiple steps it doesn’t seem as big.
10k steps isnt a massive amount.. my daily average is 15k. My highest count in a day was 27k
I stopped wearing my fitness tracker because I stopped caring. But I would average about 25,000 a day and some days as high as 35,000. But of course, working at Wally World does involve a lot of walking.
How would exercising help? Chromium poisoning, bro big fat chromium poisoed people.
I live in a city and don’t have a car, so I get around 17,000 steps per day, haha my pedometer is very pleased
So so soooooo awesome to learn! Thanks to all you and everything you do SciShow! Glad I subscribed and well definitely tell others to subscribe.
We did a global step challenge at work last year as part of the Virgin Group. I walk more than most on my team but struggle to ever reach 10k steps, I presume because I have a longer stride.
Saw the Nature documentary. Was surprised to find out how much damage was caused when the predictors were removed from ecosystems. I always learn something when I watch Nature on my PBS & I always watch it. It’s very entertaining too. Proud of them for sponsoring this site.
It is a good way of just keeping your Neat up though to create a calorie deficit. As youd have a hard time trying to vigorously exercise away all of your calories, especially if you aren’t that fit or have mobility issues.
4km/h is considered vigorous? Wow. Are we evolving into turles or what?
Excellent Video! Forgive me for chiming in, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you heard about Patlarny Sugar Outcome Principle (do a google search)? It is a smashing one off guide for reversing diabetes without the headache. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my close friend Aubrey after a lifetime of fighting got great results with it.
I’ve always viewed it more as a way to reduce sedentary time rather than an actual fitness/health goal
When i was still working at USPS, I always walk 13-15miles a day, 36k to 40k steps a day.
Now that I’m a nurse, it’s hard to get at least 10k steps.
Sip coffee and step on!!!

Wow this first speaker right off the bat completely wrong…it’s almost never about not enough insulin, it’s about insulin resistance….wow this boggles the mind
For all the postmen/postwomen out there who looked at this and thought: “This video’s pretty much my day job.”
this is stupid. basically, in order for fat to burn, you need over 3040 minutes of exercise. also, high intensity exercise consume glucose rather than fat, you need moderate or low mid intensity with over 3040 minutes of exercise in order to lose fat. Also, high intensity exercise increase reactive oxygen which makes you age.
so walking which is less intensive than running or other sports, which has less injury probability or impact (like knees), which can be done easily over 3040 minutes is a good choice of cardio exercise for people. there are scientific evidence for walking over 7000 steps a day (10000 a bit excessive) which benefits cardio, circulation etc
Health scientists: Turns out the same people who are still unsure about eggs, cows milk and water consumption, might’ve got it wrong about wearing out your knees to appease the demands of a “fitbit”
Well, that PBS documentary link just says “We’re sorry, but this video is not available in your region due to rights restrictions.” Any idea if it will get a release outside the USA?
I’m a cook in a big kitchen so 10,000 steps a day is no problem when I’m at work. I’ve had days with over 15,000 steps when we are busy. Days off are another story.
Ok, Scishow and people reading this comment, please understand I’m not trying to throw shade here. I don’t typically like to comment in general, let alone on these things. That being said, here is a semi-long winded response. *Quick disclaimer, I don’t claim to be a spokes person for any of these institutions or groups, however I do belong to the ACSM.* 10,000 steps. Do we need it? You answered the question partially. It’s a lot harder than a yes or no answer. There is some statistical evidence that 10,000 steps a day will reduce the chances of a cardiovascular event {Kraus, W. E., & Janz, K. F. (2019). Daily Step Counts for Measuring Physical Activity Exposure and Its Relation to Health. Official Journal of the College of Sports Medicine, 1206–1212.} Not only that, but it’s a relatively easy number to remember and can be effectively communicated to the masses as an easier way to meet the US Health Guidelines of weekly activity needed for adults { Le-Masurier, G. C., Sidman, C. L., & Corbin, C. B. (2003). Accumulating 10,000 Steps: Does this Meet Current Physical Activity Guidelines? Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, 74, 389–394.} The problem you’re trying to solve in this video is “does it actually work biologically?” but neglecting “does it actually work socially?”. 10,000 steps through some of these studies shows that this number is significant enough to achieve the daily and weekly recommended exercise guidelines. This isn’t supported by metadata, but I can tell you as someone who works in this field that it’s a lot more effective to tell patients/clients to work 10,000 steps daily into life then it is to get them to engage in purposeful exercise. I’m not the only one who has seen this, however I will say this is anecdotal evidence as I can’t find a study on purposeful exercise vs step counts and the adherence rate thereof. So what am I trying to say? The TL;DR of this comment is to help you realize that 10,000 steps isn’t necessarily wrong when it comes to cardiac health, HOWEVER it is easier in my personal experience to effectively communicate and keep adherence to 10,000 steps daily as enough exercise than it is to get clients/patients to do purposeful exercise. It’s a fallback answer. Yes, exercise is great and I encourage you to do it! But if you refuse, at least get 10,000 steps a day to meet close to daily health guidelines established in the second cited article. Thanks guys, sorry for the long comment. Wanted to throw my two cents in.
I normally get 10k steps a day Mon-Fri cause of work xD
Sometimes even close to 20k when I’m doing a certain role.
10,000 steps on your Fitbit is a great way to shut your doctor up when they don’t believe how much you’re on your feet!
Accepted 10,000 steps is a round number myth, but this video sets the bar pretty low if it is going with the US guidelines. 15,000 steps a week or 2100 a day is absolutely nothing and even in the world’s most car-centric culture that should only be a target for the elderly. Most people should have no problem doing 10 KM of walking a day considerably more than 10,000 steps.
the only times i do more than 10.000 steps a day (at least according to my Mi Band 3) is when we go shopping to like 5-6 different places in a day, that usually takes 4-6 hours (including lunch), so if you have an office job like me, 10.000 steps is not possible or desirable
I’ve had jobs that required a lot of walking. At the end of the day I’d be between 20-30 thousand steps. I should live to be 200.

My blood sugar usually after 8 hour fasting is about 140, last week on my off day, i spent the whole day cleaning the house, i mean a lot of activity, tomorrow morning my blood sugar was about 110, i thought my testing device was broken…but the days after that again blood sugar went back to 140, no change in my regular diet, that means inactivity is bad for your health and vice versa, i have heard inactivity causes cancer and high blood pressure too
It isn’t a magic number. It falls under the “give them an ambitious but achievable goal”. It’s not a lie. And, it incorporates the fault of oft-repeated 8 glasses of water rule that is supposed to count the uncountable water in food as well. It encourages people to make excuses to get up from their chair and stroll around every once in a while, and to take the stairs instead of the elevator in order to “get their steps in”. It is holistic and not just about cardiovascular fitness.
They say you need to practice anything for 10,000 hours to become an expert, and so my goal is to practice at least one step per hour. By the time I reach 10,000 steps, I should be an expert at it.
There seem to be an attitude amount medical people that once you are past pre-diabetics, that you just take your pills and insulin because it is too late to go back. Not a good approach from my standpoint as a long time diabetic, especially since my weight is within 10 to 12lbs of just fine. Doctors need to look out of the box sometimes. I am not talking about ridiculous sure-cure diets but just a general approaches to the problem. I enjoyed the exercise information and will use it to my advantage.
Lovely Video! Apologies for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you ever tried Patlarny Diabetes Ruins Principle (search on google)? It is a good one of a kind product for destroying diabetes minus the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my BF got astronomical results with it.
I can’t help but feel as though the only real use for this video is going to be as an excuse not to walk.
Next you will tell me exercise does not help you lose weight. Thanks.
So I been doing 10,000 steps a day well in the beining when I was at my biggest I was happy with 1000 haha but now half of my body weight down and now I do 15 to 20 thousand steps a day to keep the weight off as I have a bad sweet tooth haha but ur saying I could be doing half just in higher speeds and it will work omg now I don’t know what to believe x
Wierd video.. don’t believe 2300 steps is anyway near enough…
So far in 2020 my average step per day is 23000.. and i wish i had time for more:)
2100 steps a day?
If that’s the case then it’s hard not to fulfill those guidelines of bare minimum of bare minimum of activity. Pretty much everyone does more steps per day on average and yet we have a decent portion of the population which is not particularly healthy.
This “Vαnοjο Fivu” (Google it) is considered the most sensible as well as simple to follow program for overall health and also treating diabetes. By this plan, you could transform your lifestyle and diet without being particular about your carb or even calorie. My transition to a healthier life-style has not only helped me lose fat but also recover from diabetes and also hypertension! It is factual that you really can change diabetes…
I do over 10kv steps every day by just existing. 2100 steps as you said a day would fucki g destroy and depress me. Do americans walk arou d in swivel chairs instead of actually walking? 2k steps is just a 15 minute walk.

I knew that it was a Japanese viewer who asked this question.
I thought about taking walks for good health.
Then I realized that with my job filled with heavy lifting, tinkering, pushups, sit-ups, wrenching, high speed walking with a toolbox, loaded walking and climbing I get some 30 hours of full range exercise a week and actually need to sit down more.:D
Although I also thought about getting a 20 pound re-curve bow for target practice which is significantly more attractive idea to me.
I do between 12k to 21k when I work a day. 6 days a week. What I got from that is a tendinopathy. I prefer the days I do 450.
I generally walk around 12,000 steps a day, but only because I work in retail. If I worked in an office it’d be much less.
Diabetes can be cured: Diabetes is a direct result of eating all the wrong foods: I believe it can be reversed:
Thank you doctor for the advise. I appreciate it very much. Mark Caesar from Manila, Philippines.
You folks kinda missed the point. If you strive for that 10,000 steps then you will choose to move more.
My friend only did 9998 steps in a day and the entire town exploded
As an Amazon FC associate I usually get around 20k steps a day, and a few times I’ve made it over 40k
Meanwhile in China, people are already using step counter cheaters instead… Missing the point by an even longer shot!
