The average person takes between 2,000 and 2,500 walking steps per mile as counted by a pedometer, fitness band, or phone motion sensor. I remember when I worked security at a couple of malls around my area.. I use to walk around 15k to 30k a day.. A day! I now just do 10k now.
Unfortunately, on the average, a 5 pound weight loss can primarily be attributed to water weight. Running can help with your cardio vascular health but 80% of weight loss is all about what you put in your mouth. Of course, if you continue to do the same thing for a long time, you would see an improvement.

One time our gym teacher made us run for the entire session. (About an hour long) we weren’t allowed to stop or walk. Jogging and running only. And we were in fith grade. Most of us collapsed, others broke into tears and three of the kids in our class were asthmatic. Only one kid made it. That kid was me. yaaaay… (wasn’t worth it)
Running/Walking professional tip, you need to be fitted for proper shoes and leggings. There are shoes made for every type of runner/walker. I am a shoe educator, try a specialty running store and have a gait analysis to see if you have no arch, a low arch, or a high arch. Shoes are made in two styles for running: structured for low to no arches and neutral for those with arched feet. And they can tell you whether you over-pronate, underpronate, or walk with a neutral gait.

The most I ever walked was 29000 steps approximately this was when some friends and I went to London England. That was the first day we were there after that we figured out the transportation situation. And then we ended up walking about about 26,000 steps when we got to Paris until we figured out the Metro and other forms of transportation. I don’t mind walking so it wasn’t bad. We walked everyday actually while we were in Europe for about 3 weeks. So I’ll total that’s the most walking I’ve done ever.

I think you did awesome. Your struggle is so relatable. If you do choose to start running again or continue running I would highly suggest getting better running shoes. Most likely the reason of your foot pain! There are actually running stores where they will find shoes that fit your foot and arch perfectly though scans of feet and video. It’s pretty cool. Shoes are more expensive than any department store but so worth the better fit and less pain!!

Ι was working 9 hours a day,at a hotel in Greece and I had 45-50 k steps per day every day 6/7 days a week. The first month was the most painful experience in my life,then I think I got somewhat used to it. Worked at the hotel for the full season 5 months
I did that to get out of boredom in my workouts and it was so refreshing. Plus I burnt 55calories in 15min. (Tracked by calorie counter in fitness band). Awesome Roberta gym.

Paper tape, acrylic running socks are the way to go for dealing with friction burns (sure proper fitting shoes too). Moleskin not bad either, just a bit too cumbersome for my taste. Cool video bro. Never done any crazy one day records like this (only 30+k steps as PR)…more into weekly challenges hitting 100k/week consistently (PB around 140k steps/week). You’re in great shape bro. Science and statistics of marathon running/endurance is quite intriguing, chalk full of hurtles like autonomic dysfunction (good idea on the spare clothing), friction burns, hemorrhoid prevention, muscle wasting, etc.

The most I can recall walking is 25,592 steps but I’m sure walking around during vacation yields plenty of steps. I just don’t have the same phone from then.
I walked 20,000 steps it took me a little over 4 hours so I couldn’t even imagine walking 100k steps

I exercise at home while on our “staycation” several times a day because running wouldn’t be ideal for me. The most I got was 25k and I was not even trying to get a high count, I was just trying to get somewhere and had no other form of transportation (I live in a third world country so shit like that happens sometimes) but I regularly get 22 to 23k when it’s my shift at work.

The most i have walked is 41,668 steps. I was in Macau with my homies. We were hiking and walking almost the entire day. Vlogging and chilling the whole time. The next day, we slept almost the entire day. It was hella fun though!
