One of those is the bench press. In fact, the “Linda” WOD is the only CrossFit benchmark workout to include the bench press, which, in most other sports that involve lifting weights, is a staple exercise. WOD stands for workout of the day.

Watched your video yesterday and thought it would be fun! Got it done in 12:59! Plan was to do 9 sets of 8 and then 4 sets of 7, but ended up doing 7 sets of 8, 4 sets of 7, 1 set of 6 and last set of 10… finished with a second to spare, and omg it was exhausting! I kept saying to my friends….. they made it look so easy! I was breathing so loud. Thanks for the workout.

lol dude just wont admit its supposed to be squat clean! “oh it just says clean it doesnt say squat clean blah blah blah!” lol any of the elite crossfiters that have done this workout do it with squat cleans, and they would never do more work than needed, if they didnt have to squat, they wouldnt! because anyone who has done crossfit knows the cardio response difference between a squat clean workout and a power clean workout is huuuuuuuge! thats why everyone is calling it out because if you didnt do the squat clean you didnt do the workout! its a completely different test!

Just did this workout and could only get in 3-4 clusters in between the minutes after I hit about the 50 rep mark. It’s a lot harder than it looks….

Power clean vs. Squat clean IMO its just a different workout. Squat clean definitely tougher, because of the added ROM.

you realised that’s a muscle clean right? Clean means you have to break parallel at the bottom.
Matt’s bench is like no rep each time, and even the deadlift is kind of a cheat coz the range of motion if much less since his stance is so wide
@valgez1 Read the info. Had a shoulder issue at the time which hurt only in that last ROM on the bench.
This is also almost 2 years old. Check some recent videos, I’ve learned a lot since then.
I’m deadlifting 505, Cleaning 295, Benching 275 (full ROM). Nothing wrong with that.

I’m pretty sure your supposed to be doing squat cleans. Not power cleans. Watch Spealer demo this WOD.

It’s my dream to look this good while working out one day
They combine the movements which is not correct but I like the way they do this. A Clean to a Thruster and behind the neck thruster. Tee hee. Even if its not the complete 5 distinct movements, I believe it requires more condiitioning than strength to do it this way.
this is definitely some good money you got. the only comment i have is the burpees. i am a stickler on burpees as far as form. i get it you are going for time, but i rather take longer with proper form on both movements, then be faster in time with haphazard form. in the end with good form, you will be stronger in the end. i am not saying what you’re doing isn’t hard. you are getting that money. just be more cognisant of your form with the burpees meaning clean push ups instead of flopping on the floor or seal backing. other than that, get that money.

It looks like it encompasses major compound exercise, I may add in dumbbell punches before the burpees. Really impressed with that training you can do it anywhere, even with a piece of luggage.

@cox96786 i dont know the crossfit rules but normally that bench press is legal and safe. arms come down to 90 degrees angle which is quite ok imho. but as i said dont kno the crossfit rules. good workout bro.

You don’t ever let go of the tension during touch and go reps. When doing strength work with deads, absolutely go dead stop and reset every time. Nothing wrong with touch and go reps as long as you are doing them controlled and not trying to bounce the plates.

1 Power Clean is not a Squat Clean
2 A front Squat + a Push Press is to be performed separatelly, otherwise is a Thruster
3 Same thing for back squat + push press
Most people do the complex of:
1 Cluster + 1 Thruster behind the neck
work is mass times distance, by no dl outside the arms he did less work. his bench press same theory, no full lockout short travel. a lot of no reps in crossfit country.
So this is cool? When I was taught the Beat Complex I was taught that the movements must be separate and distinct movements. Power Clean, Front Squat, STO to back, Back Squat, STO to front and down versus, squat clean and thruster to back squat etc… I’ve gone to war in tons of arguments defending my first CF coach. L O L!

Hey Obi, as you might know, many people suffer from tennis elbow as you did. It would be awesome to make a video on how you could manage your tennis elbow and heal it while keep training and how could you speed up the recovery (physiotherapy, cortisone shots, massages etc?).
I donno man, I can’t listen to country when doing CrossFit. Country is good for drinking beer at the lake or grilling steaks with the boys. When I’m doing CrossFit give me some metal or hip-hop, something with a beat and energy.

I started crossfit 6 weeks ago I tried this today with a 10kg olympic bar and x2 15kg discs either side so 40kg in total. This took me 29 mins to complete and I had to reduce the weight with the overhead squats. I was dead at the end, I’ve got a long way to go, but I love it

Serious question. So with crossfit, do you just do the “WOD” and that’s it? Or do you lift as well? And I know that there are different workouts, so there would be different times, but how long does a typical crossfit workout last? And qhat does it all entail?

In Oly competitions you’re free to power clean if you choose. It’s all training anyhow so as long as you measure apples to apples its all good.

I’m not a crossfiter. (i dont go to a box) however. Sometimes you feel that between the Deadlifts and the squats you wanna murder yourself. Really kill it. And I promise you. Take your max shoulderpress.( Whatever you can do 5×5 with) and put that as the goal weight for the bear complex.(Doesn’t matter wich way you do it) and it will suck! Your forearms will be burning, your breath just isn’t there because your entire body wants oxygen and you don’t have enough. Even if your squat is 200kg’s this will still mess you up because “you’re doing things all wrong”. I recommend this WOD to everyone that wants to test themselfes. Don’t matter if you’re a crossfiter or not.
