Niacin is a B vitamin found in a number of foods and sold in supplement form. Sometimes referred to as vitamin B3, niacin is also produced naturally by the body. I’ve been taking 2000 mg of Nicotinic Acid for 3years and my liver is fine. GGT test is normal. Don’t worry about it.
This was a bit hard for me to understand when I started studying Biochem. I finally got it a couple of weeks ago, but watching your video now makes me comprehend more.
Please do a video on Copper detoxification. Diet & supplements
id sooner listen to a robot than a man, telling me whats good for women, vitamin wise!! PFFT
We’re not graduate students doctor. Your challenge is to say it in layman’s terms so we can all understand. Hope that helps for next time.
Great info! What about Epstein Barr from Mono? Isn’t a person DXed with EBV a higher risk for harm to liver?
I took Niacin, 250 mg on a daily basis for three weeks. I noticed, that I
became really tired and as well I had huge eye bags. Is this a normal
side effect of niacin?
Can you site the study that shows niacin causes liver damage?
My naturopathic way to get TMG is to have 100 grams of Spinach, 100 grams of Beets which offer around 900 mgs of TMG to me for what you suggested as I cannot find TMG in India at an affordable price.
Thank you for the amazing Information.
One side effect (?) I have by taking niacin around 750-1000mg is that I get stone cold in body, 12-24 hours after, why is that? Its not nice.
Hi, I am needing high dose methylcobalamin injections. First 200 mg of niacin daily was enough to combat the overmethylation. Months later I need more and more niacin (800 mg and I’m still overmethylating enormously) with the same dose of methylcobalamin. Could I have a glycine deficiency now? Im scared to try glycine because I’m high in glutamate and low in GABA. I’m hoping someone can help me out, really suffering right now. I’m so thankful for this video with important information!
its the shivering and cold after the flush i have trouble with.
Hi
I request you to cover the topic of relationship between niacin and thyroid.
couldn’t imagine taking 3gm of nicotinic acid let alone 10gm
Please take the time to answer my question.I can’t seem to find it myself. Can I take niacin when extended fasting or intermittent fasting? Thank you so much.
Niacin can be purchased in all food stores, I take 2 -100mg tablets 3 or 4 time a day…I get some flush, but it’s ok. have done for years.
i took B12, Ive never been the same since
could it have damaged my liver?
I have no doubt most people take niacin… but it can also be used to reverse schizophrenia and probably other neurological conditions… would love to hear your take on using niacin for these purposes… apparently there is a book written in the fifties or 60’s about clinical results.., and I think there might be literature from the late 1800’s using a nutritional approach to help schizophrenics… it seems there is about a fifty percent success rate using niacin/nutritional approach to reversing schizophrenia… sounds like a good approach to try before committing people to psychotropics… my neighbor is schizophrenic… it’s not cool
I’ve been taking Elysium’s Nicotinamide Riboside, 250 mg. And Jarrow Formulas TMG, 500 mg, both every day for 3 months. My recent blood test revealed that my ALT is 107 and my AST is 43. My GGT is only 37. I’m wondering if the Nicotinamide Riboside is the cause of my high ALT…?
Thank you, that’s so interesting. Is high dose niacin (I’m not sure which form) halso good for multiple sclerosis? I know they’ve done studies on this but I just wanted to know what you thought. Is it beneficial? Thanks!
Hey Chris i took NR one week and felt very bad. So i have metilation problem. So is better maybe just stop taking NR or taking with TMG? What you recommend you?
Wang et al (2018) “Nicotinamide riboside attenuates alcohol induced liver injuries via activation of SirT1/PGC-1α/mitochondrial biosynthesis pathway” suggests nicotinamide riboside can protect against alcohol induced liver injuries. Although the study was on mice my subjective experience was that it significantly increased alcohol tolerance. Not suggesting being careless, but perhaps it can help alcoholism.
Thank you for the updated information, and for clarifying the amount of TMG and glycine that should be taken when taking the nicotinic acid form of niacin.
I tried taking NR for a few weeks, and felt horrible. Taking TMG along with it didn’t help (though it did help me feel better quickly after I stopped the NR).
I am, though, able to take plain old niacin (nicotinic acid). I don’t have any problems with it… I feel fine, none of the symptoms that came up when taking NR. It completely controls my high triglycerides.
To control triglycerides, and raise my HDL levels, I’ve been taking between 500 and mg of niacin a day, along with 200 mg of niacin-bound chromium and 1000 mg of TMG. I do experience skin flushing with niacin sometimes, but don’t mind it.) After watching this video, I’ll add 500 mg of glycine to the mix.
Thanks for the info. I just got your “Cheat Sheet” I am already putting it to use.
Thanks for the info Chris. I have this SNP rs7946(T;T), does this affect my choline intake requirements or utilisation in the liver, while taking a 250mg low dose of nicotinic acid.
I would like to try IR niacin for depression and anxiety. Looking at at least 3 grams a day spread out. Is this safe? Dr Hoffer method. He also helped Bill Wilson of alcoholics anonymous with some success.
You can’t get Niacin very easily. My doctor has been trying to get it for some time. Hopefully he found a vendor.
As expert, I do believe Erectodom Secrets is great way to achieve total control over your erectile dysfunction. Why not give it a shot? maybe it will work for you too.
I get a flush at 100 mg. At 70, I recently started taking it, and I feel wonderful.
Ditch the computer generated voiceover, I shut off the video immediately.
Suggest fruits and vegetables rather than meat which Harvard states is carcinogenic.
Deseo comprar Niacin 500mg. En Bogotá Colombia por favor…, No sea por Amazon por q no entiendo el proceso..Por favor
You speak as if you are racing to the finish line. Why? slow down. maybe breath once in awhile.
You dont need a prescription to get high dose of niacin you can get it at a health food store or supermarket that would be safer than you would get at a doctor,s office!
This is just a show-off. You know we can’t learn/understand all of that, right? But the comments in between is really funny.
No mention of dosage and the flush associated with taking this. The flush is normal and alleviated if consumed with food!
I dont think you have to consult a doctor because theres no known overdoses in the history of the world?
I am surprised the video quality is not higher. Thanks for the info though!
Soon as I get the visual disturbance associated with migraines I take Niacin and it stops. And I don’t get the headache.
