Doing GASP and being amazing for my health Dra. Natasha Campbell is so right.
I think this doctor is in the right path…everything what she says make a lot of sense.
Correction: In the video I say “bone broth,” but I meant to say “meat stock.” There is a difference! While we do consume bone broth later on in GAPS, it is meat stock that we consume in the introduction stages.
I am all about healing my child with food, and I love the thoughts and ideas expressed by this particular doctor. However, I do have a question. Why does this imbalance of gut flora seem to be more prevalent in boys than in girls?
Just curious? Has your daughter still been receiving vaccines during these years?
Can you tell us why organ meats are healthy? Honestly im super grossed out about that part!!:) since organs are filters for toxins, im not sure why they are healthy for us to be eating. Help me!:) (Im sure im just lacking proper info on this one!) Thanks! and… what about those that aren’t huge meat eaters??? I have only eaten chicken and turkey and fish for the past 20 years….
Hello There! Thank you for the efforts you put in these videos! A lot of People need to see this type of content that can make their life better!, So keep it up!
I have a question for you! what’s your take on incorporating sweet potatoes in Vege Soup in stage 1 Gap Diet? Do you think it’s ok or do I need to avoid it!
Thank you again!
Hi great video! Planning to start my family on gaps soon. I am hoping to heal my sons peanut, fish and environmental allergies. Have you heard of any success stories when trying to heal anaphylaxis allergies on gaps?
I have healed my issues on raw vegan diet fruit based. Grains beans legumes must not be eaten in large quantities
Do you have any research references about GAPS diet because I cannot find
Thanks for this video. I am thinking about doing the gaps diet but I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and I definitely cannot cut out starches. I tried keto a while ago and it was a complete disaster. Burning up fat as your main fuel source puts a huge strain on the adrenal glands. Is it not possible to keep on eating potatoes, sweet potatoes?
And another question: do you need to take probiotics as well as fermented food?
Been eating like this for years. Didn’t know they had a name for it. All this time I’ve been calling it The slow carb diet.
GAPS diet completely healed my son of 2 food allergies (including dairy) and moderately severe eczema…I mean bleeding open sore eczema that the doctors said was incurable. 7 yrs after Gaps healed him he is still fine. I’m so thankful we pushed thru. While on GAPS his ADD subsided. We need to get back to it but we eat semi-traditional, semi-S.A.D. Trying to start up again.
Thanks for the information! Myself have just came across this concept of GAPS and am transitioning my diet so am in the learning stage and thanks again for your video!
I just discovered you yesterday. Your work and information I believe, is an answer to my prayers. You have the most lovely, creamy and glowing skin. That radiant health is what I look for when listening to someone’s advice. May God bless you and your family and your business. I downloaded your ebook and I am going to make some recipes!
Marissa i just watched this video again and wanted to ask you how long after starting the GAPS diet did it take for your acne to clearup please? If our skin is a reflection of our gut then mine has been bad for over 4 decades!! Thankfully my face has always been clear, but i have had dark spot like pimples on my upper back and forearms since i was 11. According to a book i read years ago that signifies congestion in the lung area..
you look like the secretary from the movie Secretary, & that makes me smile: )
sorry for the random comment,
cheers…
Hey there, I clicked on the free Gaps recipe link, and it sent a free personal care diy recipe book instead. Are you no longer providing the free Gaps recipe?
Hello, I noticed that you have homemade kefir in jars in your fridge. Is this correct? If so, can you please make a video on how you make it.
Can you show how to make the meat stock please, I have twin boys who are both autistic and are excited to start the gaps diet. Thanks for the great video
I had a serious onset of diarrhea at 71. GAPS put an end to it, but now working on rebuilding my gut. My probiotics are from NourishingWorld.com/ Over last decade I noticed slow weight decrease, and tendency to running stools. Thank goodness for YouTube and Dr Natasha. Big hugs! YouTube: Health, Home, and Happiness! is a wonderful resource also.
O-o i dont think autism is cureable. I have autism and its a disorder
Great info. I will try you advice. Please support your baby’s head a little bit better you’re a good mom not putting you down just want you to see what I see when I watched the video.
There are doctors, still today, who say diet doesn’t matter…pathetic. Of course it matters.
My question is, how did you get her to even try the food? My daughter is on the spectrum, she is 2, and she gags at everything that isn’t crunchy or a fruit. It’s so difficult!!
I watched one of your newer videos on carnivore. The word Autism caught my eye. My adult son is on the spectrum. So I clicked your link. Your story gave me chills and so happy for your daughter and you. HUGS!
You are an amazing mom (and woman)! Keep sharing, thanks for your story:)
Hi, I am so grateful that I found you. I am reading Dr. Natasha’s book but I did not find the answers to my questions. I hope to ask here and get the answers. For how long one should continue with the Introduction diet? Can a person keep eating regular foods with broths in the Gaps introduction diet? Also, what is that probiotic that one is recommended to have in the morning with warm water?
I heard of the gaps diet through Sv3rige and I ordered the book immediately. He splices in a number of clips from Dr Natasha Campbell McBride and she makes excellent points that really resonate with me. I couldn’t order the book fast enough!
So excited to soak up that knowledge. I’ve also been keto for the last few days and my health has improved drastically (with a few side effects like accelerated heart rate/ gut motility issues but these are normal).
This is revolutionary. I’ve always known that sugar is poison for my gut and for my brain (I also have ADHD) and so a diet which increases all of the things that my brain needs to function effectively without the sugar that makes it go haywire is the perfect fit for me.
I hope I can keep up with it, but so far I’m not struggling at all. I was surprised, but the high protein and fats are keeping me full and cravings are almost none existent.
Thank you for posting. This doctor needs a lot more exposure.
Have you eat gluten after 2 years on GAPS? Does has she a normal food now?
Thank you for sharing, I have used your guides to help in my son and daughter since 2016. They are still on the spectrum but the improvements are out if site and we function as a ‘normal’ family. I have trouble seeing which behaviour is autism and what it not now. Love your work and your story. Thank you again for your bravery and determination….it takes a lot to follow your gut feeling with little support on all fronts. I’m hoping the knowledge tide is turning and it’s thanks to people like you. Bless you. Stay safe and well. ❤️ Sammy
Bless you, my daughter is 3 she was just diagnosed I am a young mom.this is inspiring thank you for sharing
Much the same as a nutritional ketogenic diet. No grains, no starches, no sugars and no ‘vegetable oils’.
thanks cara!! great job!! look for kerrys rivera book ” healing all the simptoms known as autism”, even with the diet theres more to do to complete recover your child, chelations, hiperbaric camera, remove parasties from intestine, is not expensive.
hi, in stage one can you eat homemade butternut squash fries baked in coconut or olive oil as a snack along with the bone broth soups?
The baby is cute but distracting. The rest is good, thanks for the info.
My kids and I are starting Stage 1 next week. My eldest son has autism, my younger son is hyperactive, and I have a variety of food intolerances. I read the book, and tried the full GAPS diet several months ago to see what it would be like for kids, and within 3 months, my doctor took me off my thyroid medication (I had taken thyroid medication consistently for almost 10 years). There is definitely something to this diet, and I am looking forward to seeing how it helps my kids! Thank you for posting these videos.
I followed u years ago when I started gaps with my 3 yo as well….so good to see her doing well. My son is also doing wonderfully ♥️
Hi there, how long do you do phase one? Before moving to phase two
Hi Sarah thank u so much for sharing your story with other moms. I was wondering if your daughter has MTHFR gene mutation and if that changes anything in her diet.. Thank u!
ACC ( Andy cutler protocol is helping our child) Hemp oil has anti inflammatory properties.
What a lucky baby! Lol. It will be in a state of pure bliss all the high quality nutrients it’s getting
My goal is to help with my children and help with my anxiety and just over all wellness health
try carnivore (raw is best if possible just watch Sv3rige and read We want to live by Aajonus Vonderplant hope this help, I believe it will
Amazing and Congratulations on your success. This is our 2nd day on the GAPS diet. It’s HARD, but I hope to see some changes. I bought your intro book too (what can I eat now)…thank you for making that book! It’s been helpful. I pray the best possible health for you and your family.
Watched this yesterday think I told you and this is very scientific approach. However I think it is both, genetics and epigenetics. You can definitely reduce autistic behaviour by eating the right way. However, I still have sensory issues, 46 years of age, but I can have seen the difference back from when I ate dairy/gluten/high oxalate foods my autistic behaviour was way more pronounced. Your kids are lucky, that very very early intervention will save them from so much difficulties, I am sure about that. Wish I knew earlier.
Thanks for your videos and awesome info! So up my alley… I have been meaning to jump on this bandwagon for years, started reading the book months ago, and I just finally got inspired to finish reading it and start the regimen. I know it will fix leaky gut, autoimmune issues and balance insulin.
Happy New Year!!!
Hi Marisa! Lovely to stumble across your channel. I have a 6 months baby who suffered from severe gas and colic from birth until about 5 months old and severe eczema from 3 months old and still ongoing. Doctors couldn’t help us and actually convinced me to stop breastfeeding as part of their advised healing regimen… Which didn’t work. So I started looking around for alternatives and around a month ago found GAPs protocol and at 5 and a half months started to wean my baby according to GAPS. We had very good initial healing, with 80% eczema gone, but the last 20% still remaining. He is now 1 month in the weaning process and I am just looking around for other people’s experience with gaps and babies. Nice to meet you.
Gluten is not even a food, It’s just a binder in food. Ridiculous that doctors say you need gluten. If you want to eat wheat, try Einkorn, it’s not damaging, unlike the modern version of wheat.
Hi Marissa, thank you so much for your hard work and all of your videos and information. It is super helpful. Do you know if I can go on gaps with IBS?
Great information! I love the baby, and the cat in the background!
Do stores sell ready to eat Sauerkraut? is it ok to have that instead of making it if they are available to buy?
Thank you so much for the very helpful video. Please also talk about how gaps diet can help people with skin allergy such as hives and eczema.
I have question my son is 5 years 4months old if I start gaps diet will it work for him. Still can I have hope on it.And in introductory stage 1 can I give meat which is boiled in the stock.
Thank you soo much. I want to heal my Asthma, chronic fatigue, thyroid, hayfever, i get i runny nose after eating gluten. But the most important i want to heal my lovely toddler. He seems to have a lot stomach pain and show some signs of autism. Which probiotics could you recommend for adults and children?
Thanks for the helpful video. I am going to give this diet a try after 30 years of fighting eczema and asthma. I was raw vegan for years and when I stuck to it, all my issues went away. It was a really depressing diet to follow though and I never ate dinner with my four kids because of it. I saw your lovely radiant healthy glow and I thought I should try it because of that. I made my first tallow balm last night. Even though I rendered it three times, it still has a bit of a beef smell to it. I added lavender, frankincense, geranium, and vanilla. I wanted to note that in the middle of Canada, it is illegal to get raw milk from a farmer. If we own a cow, we can’t even serve raw milk to family coming for dinner. What are my options?
Thank you so much for this video. The other videos you’re going to be making will be very helpful too. Looking forward to those as well. I was wondering if you could also do a video on what supplements we should be taking on the introduction diet. What ones are a must and should not be skipped. Thank you for your dedication to this channel:)
very informative.. thank you. where can I find your cook book? ebook?
So thankful for you to share all this. I started the GAPS diet almost two years ago. I was diagnosed with depression at thirteen and with Fibromyalgia at 32. I had become resigned to being sick and tired for the rest of my life. I had noted that most of my life I had upset tummies often (as a kid I called it “gooey belly” because my belly felt so liquidy and bloated). In 2013 or so a person handed me the GAPS book but I wasn’t ready at that time to receive that a book from the “internet” could help. After drugs and doctors failed I became untreated. Then in late 2015, as I was describing my symptoms to someone they said the words “leaky gut” and the search was on for natural cures, to which I found the GAPS website and book again. In March of 2016 I cut out gluten, then dairy and seen some results. By september I had decided to start the GAPS diet, though I started it loosely. never truly moving beyond the intro and it was hard, but I noticed tremendous results. I began sleeping through the night, the pain and flares were gone. I could be touched and hugged again and felt amazing, and I lost almost 50 lbs. In the past year or so I have strayed very far from GAPS, though I still refuse to eat grains or dairy. I am now prepping to start over from Day 1 Intro and your efforts to help have been a true blessing. Beginning in March my 20 year old daughter and i are going to begin GAPS together. She had thrush and jaundice as a baby and has many symptoms that lead us to believe she needs to heal her gut. Though most symptoms of my FMS haven’t resurfaced, a few have, I have also put the 50lbs back on by not eating what I should be and eating what i shouldn’t be. Food is the cure for what ails us.
Hi i am from india, i am on page no. 114 on GAP’S diet book. It says to avoid all grains, rice from diet,so i didn’t understand what to eat and how long. Because our basic foods are rice, chapati made from wheat flour. Please guide on this? Don’t tell me to wait for next video.
Trying different stuff for autism: 1. Take a vit and min tablet. Autistic people are low on magnesium, selenium, vit d and probably other nutrients. Studies show magnesium and vit b 6 supplementation improves autistic people. Magnesium citrate is a good form of supplement. The enzyme pyridoxalkinase has low activity in in autistic. Improve it’s activity by eating more phosphorus foods like seeds, nuts and beans. If you eat these foods, eat a chewable enzyme that has protease, amylase, lipase, cellulase, hemicellulase and phytase to break up the plant fibers in order to access the nutrients. Some studies have shown that gluten and casein free diets may be helpful. I think that you can avoid this by eating the chewable enzymes which will break down the gluten and casein proteins into amino acids. Studies have shown that autistic people are low in certain amino acids. Be sure to eat enough protein. There is a theory that autistic people have leaky gut syndrome. Iron deficiency can cause this, so take the multi vit and min. Also take a veg capsules that has Omega 3 and Omega 6 essential oils.
I have sever allergies and get sinus infection a lot. I hope this may help! Holly
I’ve been through GAPS intro and am now on full GAPS and I’ve watched your video on making tallow but I’m intimidated! Can I buy fat from the store and make it or do I need to find grass fed beef fat somewhere?
I am a grandmother helping my 6 year old grandson w autism. I am new to all of this but I do see how the food connection works. So thank you for having this posted
I have gastritis that is chronic. My husband has issues as well and I think this will be something that we can stick too.
Carbs = pure shit.
Eat raw animal foods.
Ferment animal foods to heal your gut.
Stay away from sugar, carbs, starch and veggies and fruits.
Hi Marissa. Thank you SO much for this video! I’m 51 and have had skin issues, fatigue, constipation and the like for as long as I can remember. And then after an operation in ‘98 to remove fibroids my sleep has just dramatically gone downhill, to the point that it is now practically non-existent with my hair balding and the like , so to say that my situation is chronic is an understatement. Anyway, I’m not one for taking pills and have watched tons of videos on fermented foods, and realise that that is the way to go. I’ve ordered the GAPS book, and as soon as I have read it will be looking to implement, but I know it’s not gonna be cheap. So do you have any tips on how to do the diet on a budget please? And not having read the book yet do I have to buy store bought probiotics? I have no faith in these and would prefer to make my own. And finally, you made an interesting point about Cándida and Mercury. I have about 3 fillings in my mouth (I’m sure they’re Mercury. It’s been that long). Is it pointless doing the diet whilst I have these in please? I certainly can’t afford to get these removed and replaced. I look forward to hearing from you. And keep up the good work.
Thanks for this video (and your whole gaps playlist)! We plan to start GAPS next week and we are a traveling family. We’ve been to Ireland more than once to visit my parents. Beautiful country!!
I’m floored when people follow a keto or carnivore way of eating and see such positive results but feed their children carbs because “they need them”. The SAD is promoted by industry, high carb low fat by Ansel Keyes, but never proven to be healthy.
I have a 12 yr old son on the spectrum who craves nothing but sugar, pasta and cereal. I try to get him to eat other things but i end up giving in so much of the time to avoid unpleasant situations. A lightbulb just went off in my head. Thank you so much for this information! I am going to try the Gaps diet over the summer break. I just ordered the book, and I’ll let you know how it works!
I am mainly vegan, for the animals, environment and my health. I believe we are physiologically herbivores. I’d like to try a vegan gaps type diet to see it will improve my ADD. Meat, dairy & eggs are derived from cruel practices and I believe we don’t need to eat animal protein to be healthy. Meat, dairy and eggs are carcinogenic and not natural for humans.
Hi….my son is 3 year 1 month old…he is autistic and ADHA problem…no communication and very poor eye contact and alway on his own world…and continuously hamming… music…he doesn’t play with other kids….he not even ask for food also…I don’t know what will do…I am so much worried about him and I crying every day….I don’t know how to over come this situation….pls give me any suggestions and suppliments for him….plsss reply me… Thanks in advance….I hope you can understand my pain
I’m a tall guy but very lean no fat, and the main thing I struggle with is getting enough calories. Do you recommend adding animal fat? Maybe rendered fat? I would still be looking at consuming 100grams a day to try and get enough calories. Don’t know if that would be okay.. Cheers
Thanks for your helpful videos on this diet! I’m on the intro phase 1 (2nd day is almost over). But I’m even more bloated then normal. Is this normal and I should go on to the next phase? I’m a bit confused because the whole intro phase is about healing, so it’s not to be expected my bloating is over before I enter phase 2?
What is B 12?is it vitamin B 12?i’ve heard that vitamin B is also not good for autism
I didn’t find this stuff out till my son was 18, we started him on it then and what a big change it made in him, am so thankful.
Can this diet be done if you cannot have dairy and eggs? My son is allergic to a lot of foods. Dairy and eggs are very high for him
This is the first I have heard of it,very interesting! Thank you for sharing can’t wait for more info and updates! Holly
Thank you sooooo much for your video! I’ve been on keto for 11 months and it’s life changing (no more depression, anxiety and insuline resistence) but now I realized that I had youth myoclonic epilepsy and I’m seazure free now (I didn’t know what was that shock in my body everyday, but I knew that I was completely free of that on keto, I thought I was just stressed out) thank you! It’s one more reason to keep going on this lifestyle
Wow. Great upload. Beautifully presented no ego just the story without unnecessary filler. I can’t believe you went through all that with your child! I am in awe of you right now. Really dissapointed I can only give you one like:) Double thumbs up!
Hi Cara,
I have followed your journey from the very early days, when we were GFCF, we didn’t know our boy had autism at that stage, simply a range of other Gut and health issues. Your daughter is a little older than my son who wasn’t diagnosed until he was 6, so when I found a kindred soul in your blog, treating health issues naturally I was very comforted. Your blog and posts encouraged me to do GAPS with my son, the first time without not enough prep and knowledge, I basically burnt out but it was your blog that encouraged me to give it another go some 12months later. I went in again (this time with hubby’s grudging support), all your notes, and meal plans etc. In two weeks we had eye contact. In six weeks week we had social awareness, and he asked to play soccer with the other boys. We stayed on the diet (there were of course some incidents) for roughly 2 years. Sleeping never improved but we definitely saw and to this day when we periodically revisit the full diet see HUGE changes in behaviour (both kids) and my boys ASD traits. My boy is 12 this year and not as open to GAPS anymore, he’s suffered bullying and been ostracised because of what he is and isn’t allowed to eat, but he’s finally beginning to understand how food effects him. Keep up the awesome work, research and positive attitude you have no idea the difference you make to peoples lives. Big hugs and thank you.
Well done for trusting your instincts as a mum and wishing you all a great future
Any tips for fighting tooth decay? My 14 month old has a cavity!
Great story, it only shows what early intervention can do. It is so powerful. If you had not changed her diet, geez. Just awesome. I had to go carnivore as well, I tried Paleo, then Paleo Autoimmune, it did not work that well. Through Natasha Campbell McBride (reading her books) I learned, that there are certain autistic people who can’t digest plant foods. That’s what opened me up to try something more drastic. And I also learned about oxalates through Sally Norton and Susan Owens (Susan Owens is a scientist and has worked with a group of autistics, and they found that by removing oxalates, they had a lot of success)
Only by removing plants too and those High Oxalate foods that’s when I finally saw the change happening and reversed many things. Thank you so much for your inspiration. Your videos are great.
Hi Cara, healing the gut is really important, but the most important thing to do with autism is to take vitamin D. And I mean a lot of vitamin D. Look for the Coimbra protocoll, it works really well with autism!
I have been doing intro for 6 weeks on stage 4 of GAPS. My digestion has improved. I have more energy. Have several food intolerances that I will work through after more healing takes place.
Just of of curiosity, give a thumbs up to this comment if you’ve dealt with parents in denial, regarding their child’s development. This is, of course, anecdotal but I’d like to see some feedback.
My heart goes out for Mother’s of Autism children. The mothers are driven like no other mother.
Finding a solution is outstanding. There is a connection between the gut and the brain. I think it is mast cell disorder. Most children of Autism always have diarrhea no matter what diet. I do believe in DNA of the parents somebody is carry the genes that pass it along
This is interesting. My autistic foster sister was put on a gluten-free ketogentic diet already in 1987, so I have always believed that to be one of the primary treatments for autism.
My daughter did the same. She didn’t crawl until almost 2 and didn’t walk until 3 1/2 and she didnt speak much at all until 3-4. She did sleep 10-12 hrs a night, both my daughters slept all night from birth thank all the gods I just left it be and now shes 5 1/2 and has completely caught up on her own. Idk if its autism, i wouldn’t think so because autism isnt something you grow out of, right? Iher older sister is the exact opposite. Shes 13 and a genius haha she used a spoon and fed herself at 4 months and all her milestones were super early. Theyre 8 yrs apart amd since my oldest was super early and my youngest was late it made it seem like she was super duper late in comparison… Im so glad i didn’t jump to get her diagnosed because thankfully she caught up. Not saying everyone child will catch up or that ppl shouldn’t push for a diagnosis. It just worked out in my situation but i know it won’t work the same way for everyone.
How wonderful. I’ve suggested keto/ low carb for Autism in the past but ppl are just incredulous that a ‘diet change’ would help alleviate symptons. Good for you, this gladdens my heart. Xxx
Seriously you can choose to not feed your baby during a presentation. It was very distracting To hear your baby choking and burping.
As a 51 year old diagnosed with autism 5 years ago, I have never heard of the GAPS diet. However, 11 months ago I removed all grains, sugars (carbohydrates), and vegetable oils from my diet. The results have astonished me, alleviating the comorbidities of depression and digestive problems which I have suffered from all my life. It sounds like the GAPS diet shares the “low carb” approach, and although diet is NOT a “cure” (you can’t cure autism), there is no doubt in my mind that removing certain foods can play a huge role in aiding physical and mental health for we autistic folk. Thank you for sharing your story.
Oh do tell Hannah did any of your family or any doctors express any appreciation for the fact that you have saved your daughter from a lifetime of misery? Better digestive health no doubt? Myself I cannot tolerate any dairy, but I do OK with ghee, which I buy by the case.
Have you looked into oral chelation? A recent study showed abnormally high levels of aluminum in all the autistic brains they studied. I don’t know where it would come from if not from vaccines (I saw that you did not vaccinate, but you probably were vaccinated as a child?), but if the child had, say, the MTHFR gene, she would find it hard to expel metals.
Congratulations on such fantastic results.
Does Carnivore Diet… or Zero Carb diet work well for y’all?
Hi, How long did your daughter take to responds for her name since you have started the diet?
Wow! I do not have autism in our family. However, I am always researching diet as it relates to health. I just wanted to write you because I am so glad that someone who is familiar with autism is getting information out there that diet is SO important to their welbeing! You are an awesome Mom to take your child’s health seriously and to question those in “authority”. Thank you for sharing your story
Its so hard on GAPS even with all the information out there for me now because my son has so many food allergies. Dairy, soy, gluten, eggs, nuts (minus almond and coconut), nightshades, chocolate, peas, squash, and it feels like the list just grows and grows. Ugh! On top of this he’s a picky 2 year old and refuses mostly all veggies. I feel like all he eats is meat and fruits. He won’t eat any GAPS baked goods. Hardly get him to drink broth. I feel exhausted.
Vaccines cause autism! Course you cannot say hit ons Facebook s of March 2019 when I am writing this. Jenny McCarthy healed her son of autism thru diet. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and even Trump know this as well! Here’s McCarthy on it: https://youtu.be/qGW4a96GqGc
This is so interesting to me thank you for posting this information. I personally do not have any children. However I have worked with individuals experiencing developmental disabilities for 13 years. In The Last 5 Years I have worked with mostly individuals experiencing autism. I would say that 95% of the individuals I work with have some kind of digestive difficulty. I really feel in my heart of hearts that treating the gut is one of the best ways of reducing autism symptoms. Your doughter is so fortunate to have you ♡
This is so eye opening! Thank you for sharingmy son is on the spectrum and this is going to help me!
Autism can be improved through diet but not cured. To truly heal autism you must remove the mercury from the child’s brain and body. Check out Medical Medium’s information on autism.
Thank you for sharing and helping out other struggling moms
Ur one is classical autism but 99 percent regressive autism is due to drug and vaccines before during and at first 3 to 5 years of life. If a child who was never vaccinated still has autism then it is their gut flora from uterus of their mother which was damaged
Did you give her vaccines and then more vaccines and then more vaccines? In a nutrient-rich diet sure they’ll get some things that will chelate out some of these toxins that you put in but not all of them.
Bless your heart! You have truly had a journey! Moms try to do the best they can for their children, and thankfully you did just that. Your daughter is a beautiful girl (looking at your photos) and she looks happy and healthy. I am so glad you were able to do what you did for her. I believe all health does start in the gut (as GAPS indicates). I agree that a body’s whole exposure to the outside world is dictated by the microbes in our gut. I am working towards that myself and hope to introduce some subtle changes to my father’s diet (90 years old) to help him as well for this new year. Love to you and your family! XOXOXOXO
you’re a good mom. Love your dedication and how you put everyone’s opinions aside to trust your mom instincts to heal your baby. I’m just starting gaps diet to hopefully put my autoimmune disease into remission.
I am so sorry to hear of the resistance people gave you!!! I do not understand people who try to sabotage a parent’s attempt to help and heal their child!!! I found you today while looking for videos to share with a friend who wants to help her son. I went vegan along with my daughter when she was finally diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis at age eleven. It helped her so much, but I got SO MUCH RESISTANCE from grandparents, school, friends, etc. It was so difficult!!! Everyone was trying to force her to eat meat but one hamburger and she was curled up in pain. Thank you for the videos.
I am so glad you shared this story! So important for parents to hear these stories of inspiration!
I am so proud of u for at least trying so hard, and caring about her. My daughter in law is still in denial with both her kids. 6 n 2yrs.
Hi Marissa,
This video was super interesting. Just one question and I know this depends from person to person, but how long does the introduction fase last for generally? I am sure I have a leaky gut, because I have a little of psoriasis for years on my elbows and I am always bloated after eating and have pretty bad skin.:(
Check out raw milk instead of pasteurized. Full of good fats and no lactose intolerance.
There too many ingredients in processed food that are harmful that their mothers eat without realizing it could harm their unborn child. Focus has been on alchohol, drugs and cigarettes not on food additives.
i’m gonna start this diet soon. I’m 23 years old. a guy. All my whole life i’m feeling depressed, anxiety and have symptoms of autism (pdd-nos). I’ve tried a lot of things, pschygologist, meditation, yoga. nothing helped. This is my last thing i’m gonna try.
I’m excited to start.
I need some advice. My son is 2 years old and has amazing motor skills, but is unpredictable with eye contact and his speech is delayed. What should my first step be? Our diet is about 2/3 organic and mostly non gmo if not organic. Anyone who wants to message me, please do. I’ll look into GAPS. Thank you.
My son is 1 year on GAPS, what about detoxification? What is the best? Cutler? How long do I have be on this diet?
Hi, im new to your channel. Im want to start the gaps because in December of last year they said I had ulcer. The doctors did not restrict me from eating anything but just take the medication. But no help, came across gaps and then your page. But it makes me nervous because your literally stoping everything for a year or two from what the gaps book say. I guess my question is 1. Meat stock and meals from stage 1 when it comes to working how do you go about heating your food? They suggest not to microwave. Since i work it seems to be a little hard i guess in my head to go about this.
“Mental conditions” ARE “physical conditions”. Our mental state is created by the physical conditions of the body. There is no division. Someday, I hope soon, everyone will realize this, and stop describing them like they are two different things. For 60 years I suffered until I learned this.
Please please answer me. I’m on gaps diet for one year now with my daughter. Almost all symptoms are gone but only the speech is little bit delayed. I started just like you the diet completely without dairy products because a food sensitivity test shown she was allergic to casein. Can I give her homemade yogurt, Kefir, probiotic butter, ghee after one year? She is still sensitive to gluten and I think I should hold her diet gluten free forever. And do you recommend any supplement for speech delay?
Its like you explaining my son.Never slept, mouthed his food, opening and closing doors and stimming.Gaps is so hard but willing to do anything.
Thanks for sharing your story. I have been considering the gaps diet for my son. If you’re in Arizona you should check out Dr. Patrick Nemechek, he has a protocol that helps heal the brain. It’s been helping my son with autism and my other son with global delay.
Thanks for your blog and videos!
Great story and I’m so glad that your daughter is doing better. Taking minerals is also a great thing since the soil contains limited minerals in it when the crops are grown. We need to have 90 minerals in our bodies that need be in the vegetables and fruits we eat. Now days we are getting 14 to 16 minerals, which does not sustain our health. Even if you’re on vegetable and fruit diet you still need to supplement to get all the trace minerals.
I want to start my son on the diet but I would like to know if I can give him supplement vitamins?
Any tips on starting gaps in summer? Unfortunately I’ve left doing this really late so I’m now beginning in 35c (Spain). The thought of stocky warm soups is really not appealing when all my body craves is salads and fruit:/
I have been asked to do the GAPs diet by my health care provider. I’m wanting to get started next week after Thanksgiving. Can you tell me about what your opinion is about Stevia? I have already kicked sugar a long time ago. I can and will use honey as I know about it’s health benefits but I do use Stevia to sweeten some things. Thank you. I really appreciate all your work in this area and your community.
can long fermented sour-dough bread be included in the gaps diet?
I’d love to know more about the chelation therapy. My Functional Medicine MD wanted to do the IV chelation but I didn’t feel healthy enough to tolerate it.
So glad I found your channel! I have a 6 year old with ASD and at age 3 we put him on the GFCFSF diet. Went from zero words to being able to say 100 words within the first month. I’ve wanted to try GAPS for so long but it’s been so daunting every time I think we are ready to start but I’m at the point where i regret not doing it earlier Anyways, thank you so much for all your videos!!!
Back in 2011 I spent a year doing GAPS with my family (we were very strict). Sadly it caused me to have major adrenal fatigue issues after about 12 months; and my health plummeted. It also didn’t help my children.
We also tried raw milk (as per Price recommendation) and it too fueled a health crisis. A few years later I was able to identify some chronic infections I had, and I believe at least one of them was picked up from the milkand it took high-dose Ivermectin for 7 months to stop it (and the seizure activity).
When it rains it pours.
It’s a long story with plenty of variables.
But the take-away is that GAPS diet does not heal the gut. Actually gut flora get starved and begin to eat the gut lining after three months. What GAPS does is take away additional immune burdens. It is a diet to control symptoms. But the risk is that a person’s metabolism will be starved while attempting to control underlying issues with diet.
Symptoms subside, for some people, for a time, because the person stops feeding pathogenic life in the body (including the systemic ones autistic children have; not just gut). And because the diet curbs some of the assault to the deranged immune system. The immune function is harmed usually because a person is toxic metal poisoned. If you take away specific carbohydrates, as well as any other offending food, the body just has less burden; hence less symptoms. This doesn’t mean it’s the answer. It may not even address the actual problems, but just serve to address secondary problems that have been borne of the primary dysfunctions.
I have known many people who were injured with this diet. My family included.
I think I read a comment where you wrote you didn’t vaccinate. I think your daughter may have some underlying issue. Maybe mitochondrial? Or some genetic thing? But in addition to a possibly less easy to fix thing… I think she might have some poisoning underlying issues. It’s hard to imagine how she is not toxic metal poisoned. Even with no vaccines. Mothers can dump poison into their babies in the womb, and in breastmilk. Many mothers have had exposures (a common one being amalgams), but there are other exposures, and pass that toxic burden onto their children. Though, I’ll admit it seems there is something else to it in her case.
Have you ever tried Andy Cutler Chelation? It’s a low-dose, oral method of chelating. A good 75%+ If people who do it respond incredibly well to it. One blog I’ve enjoyed is called “Regarding Caroline”. Though, Caroline’s story is different (she was vax injured). But still. Many mothers in the Cutler Facebook group have given birth to autistic children (similar to your story), never vaccinated, and are seeing amazing gains with their children.
Another suggestion that has helped so, so, so many families and childrenis oxidative therapies. HBOT, Ozone… this helps with yeast a lot. But it helps with many things. One of the best therapies for many people.
There is a Facebook group called: “ac chelation, ozone, and paleo”….. aka get out the poison, kill the infections, and avoid the wrong food. Those three things help so many.
I’d recommend reviewing this blog: Regarding Caroline. They have a detailed list of what has helped.
Have you tried any other herbs and supplements to heal gut lining? Slippery elm, glutamine….
Have you ever tried any think like Keri Rivera’s MMS protocols. Just getting Rope Worm out of kids takes down a lot of their autism symptoms. Doing MMS enemas helps to clear out Rope. And you can bet she has it. And if she has it you can bet Yeast is also an issue. And the underlying cause of both Rope and yeast is probably: Mercury.
Getting out Rope Worm and Mercury takes an enormous amount of autism symptoms away.
She seems like she needs Chelation and cellular support.
If you haven’t already I would very highly recommend:
LDN
OZONE
CUTLER CHELATION
Those three might just change your world.
There is a documentary about LDN. It’s great. Worth viewing. The story of the boy in it is quite amazing.
Best of luck to your family

Thanks,Cara, for your courage in sharing your story. I couldn’t get through it without shedding tears! I’ve been following your site for years, as it has helped our family along the GAPS diet and beyond. I enjoyed hearing the background to it all, and some of the parts were very familiar in our own story. Beautiful, beautiful pictures of your children and you!
Thanks for sharing your story, you are so brave and patient for handling your child’s situation. Keep up the good job!
Thank you, Cara for sharing your story! I was so moved by your experiences and I wish you and Hannah well.
