I think that if you need to lose a lot of weight, your (re)sources should be your doctor and a reliable dietician. As far as losing a few pounds is concerned, common sense, moderation and some relevant reading can help. It also depends on your taste (literally and metaphorically). For example, I like bread and I don’t want to exclude it from my diet. But by using common sense, I will eat 1-2 slices a day and I will opt for good quality bread depending on what is available in my area, of course. Or, I will bake my loaf. I first read about healthy eating and “wrong” foods about 35 years ago. Although I gained some weight due to recent… reckless eating habits and a not really active way of life, I have always followed the “no fried foods”, “no soft drinks”, “read the food labels”, “watch out for hidden sugars” etc guidelines. It is not really nuclear science. The more you eat, the more weight you gain and we’re talking about an average person here. And then you spend even more time sitting as you watch all these youtube videos about weight loss:-)

Oh geez. My first go round with keto almost 5 years ago I learned the super hard way with the nuts. I craved hardcore sugar, and macadamia and pecans were the answer, I thought. Caused me to stall so many times. This time after an 8 month hiatus, I’m not going in with the keto sweets and homemade baked goods, and I’m not craving sweets as terribly as last time. No Lily’s chocolate that I went overboard with last time, either. I am using heavy cream in the coffee with one stevia every morning. I am absolutely burnt out from eating Ribeyes every single times 4 years so I’ve gotta switch that up some how. Rotisserie is working as far as keto casseroles, recipes…I eat the skin as well. I went into ketosis very quickly this time and I’m at day 8, and actually don’t have much of an appetite at all, but I’m tracking my macros and making sure I’m definitely getting enough to eat.
I just subscribed and have been on this keto plan for about 12 days and have lost 10 lbs. I have 70 to go. My breakfast is coffee w/butter 2 tbps and heavy whipping cream about 3 tbps NOT EVER giving that up. My main treat for the day.. I think it adds up to 300 to 400 calories and I love it. My problem and stress is not knowing how to figure calories on all the other stuff I eat. I have a ton of medical issues and at 69 yrs old I get confused and overwhelmed easily. But when I stepped into diabetes well that was the trigger for me. I have been on high doses of prednisone for 4 yrs and was told I would have a hard time with that to lose weight. I was also told to stay away from keto. WELL, I feel better than ever. I went into Ketosis right from the start have no problem with intermittent dieting but unsure if we are to do it everyday. Not sure if my coffee bomb takes me out of fast but I don’t eat for about 4 hrs. I don’t normally eat after 8 pm and some days I don’t feel hungry at all but eat because I feel I am supposed too. I am even thinking about getting a dog to walk with me. Walking with a muscle disease was not an option but my muscles don’t hurt so am going to build up slowly and try to get a life back. On social security so would join your group but need to see what else I can drop. Not complaining haven’t had TV for 4 years and think it is a good thing….so anyway… thanks for your videos.

I’m actually thinking of starting back again because I gained weight from school stress can you please tell me what happens if you don’t eat enough fats? In the last few weeks I have been making sure that I have vegetables filling up at least half of my dinner plate. The other half I split evenly between, protein (meat fish etc( and grains potatoes, pasta, polenta, rice etc). So far I have lost 2 kg.

I need to lose 30 pounds. I can barely eat meat except ground meat, sometimes chicken or pork. I love eggs. I don’t have a gallbladder, diabetic, irritable bowel syndrome, gastroparesis. I want to try keto but scared to because of heavy fat. I lost 120 doing traditional WW type diet. It is not working for me anymore, so I’ve gained back 30. I control myself well with dark chocolate. For years, throughout my weight loss journey, everyday I eat a PB&J sandwich (sugar free high fiber jam), 1/2 serving peanut butter, 2 slices high fiber 45 calorie bread, 1/2 serving of pretzels, small apple or mandarin. I eat the same thing every day for breakfast 1/2 cup oatmeal with water, sweetener, blueberries, 1 whole egg mixed with 3 tbs egg white. Coffee with sweetener only. I gave up cream because I get bad acid reflux from it. I hate cooking and like eating the exact same thing for two meals a day every day. Lack of choices helps me with self control. I am 63 and until 3 years ago was obese since age 10. I tried doing a keto salad with 1/3 of a chicken on top and couldn’t finish it (stuffed) but NOT satisfied. I am addicted to carbs (it was easier for me to kick a 2 pack a day cigarette habit 30 years ago). I felt like I needed a little carb to finish off that meal for a snack later.

This video is confusing to me. It seems your advocating for high protein moderate fat. I thought keto is the opposite. That sounds like Atkins to me. I’m not disagreeing, I’m just not sure what the message is. Like the heavy cream vs. the fate bomb? Why do you feel differently about these two things? The heavy cream has no carbs, so it shouldn’t spike insulin. Isn’t that kind of the idea behind keto? I’ve done low carb before, but my only focus was REALLY low total carb, like practically nothing (including fiber) so I never concerned myself about other macros. But that is not sustainable. Trying to figure out the theory and methodology behind a keto lifestyle, but am getting mixed messages.

little fat in diet is fine as long as it is whole food form and plant based, ie avocado, nuts, seeds, whole coconut ect. even corn contains little fat. just stay away from ALL OILS and animal products, but try and keep to a minimum, as the fat u eat is the fat u wear 😉
Sorry guys but i pretty much dont agree with really any of this. i eat every thing you mentioned but just stay around my maitnence calories and i lose every week usually as long as i dont overdue dairy and baked items. Everything you mentioned are staples in my day to day when i cut on keto lol. For me i love the fats in my bulletproof coffee (2 tbsp heavy cream, 1 tbsp mct oil, 2 tbsp grassfed butter, pankato or whole earth sweetner to taste). Its like a keto cappuccino and fills me for hours for about 500-600cal. Then i just eat 2 larger meals (eggs & bacon or 6-8oz meat w/riced cauliflower & oven roasted buttered veggies) with one snack in the afternoon and one after dinner.
Milk makes no one fat. I drink so much milk everyday, whole milk, at least 6 glasses a day and it has never made me gain pounds. My bones are strong, I have plenty of minerals: great levels of potassium, magnesium and calcium all thanks to milk which is my only source of animal protein.

tya…oil is not a health food…when speaking of fats, there is such a thing as fat in plants ie, avocado, nuts, seeds, coconut, ect. oil is toxic and damages endothelium (inner lining of arteries).

As an “overweight” diabetic, calories vs carbs and vice versa is why I do low carb instead of keto. I’m still fat but have came off all diabetes medications, lowered my cholesterol and blood pressure. I eat clean low carb home cooked meals 80-90% of the time and try to move my body regularly in ways I love. So if I want a “sweet” I don’t make fake cookies or brownies with almond and coconut flours and fake sweetners, Too many calories, not even as good or comparable to the real thing, usually bad sweetner after taste. If I want cake ill just have a piece of cake/ etc. I try to have eggs, bacon, veggie and maybe cheese for breakfast. Cold plate with raw veggies dip, cold meats, boiled eggs, cheese for lunch or salad. Dinner protein with a veggie, for dessert I melt some dark chocolate and natural pb in a coffee cup.
My sister in law weighs about 190. She plays tennis so she said its good fat.

I think this is do/don’t very much depending on what else you eat and how much you consume of each item. I wouldn’t rule ANY out keto friendly food as long as I keep relative track of how often I’m consuming it. I’ve been on keto for three years, I’ve lost 20 kgs since and I’m on a very steady weight (currently weighing 67 kg, I’m 1.70 mts) I drink red wine weekly. It’s all very relative. I truly think the keto diet is very personal.

A local manufacturer here in NZ makes skinny dipped almonds which have a mere smear of chocolate over an almond and I find 2/3 of theses satisfies my choc craving

At 63 I found that I can only lose weight eating 900 calories a day. The high fat foods leave me with one meal and a half a day.
AND I do 4 one hour workouts a week. I’ve been doing this Keto for 4 weeks. Lost 4 lbs. Cheated one day for a family gathering and gained 2 back…in one day.
I can’t win.

Another question for something sweet the mug cake to have protein powder? Which powder exactly? I have never used protein powder and I use carb manager to keep track of carbs.
I love smoothies and my fav foods are baked goods, nut butters I take a tbsp every other day, and yes I can’t reduce weight. It stalls.

I could live on fruits ( especially Georgia peaches ), but since going on keto, having berries is the one thing that keeps me on track. In moderation, of course. Otherwise, I think keto is great because I love me some steak and eggs!

No joke about the nuts thing. I hit a Plateau that felt like a brick wall. Cut out the nuts and I was on my way on the journey again
I have no sweet tasting foods in my diet, so raspberries are great when I want something yummy or I’ll make peanut butter fudge bars Papa G’s recipe, sooo good. Tho I don’t eat those everyday. But hubbs not on diet, he loves those. Other then that, eggs, meam, meat, meat

Seems like you assume people don’t have any discipline. I think if you weigh your nuts, berries, etc that’s fine. I have no problem eating 1 oz of nuts.

I hate rice and brussel sprouts but yes, i do believe to eat healthy. I use the excuse that i can’t eat right cause i don’t have the time and eating healthy is two expensive. So i tell myself that momentum and flavored water works well with my diet and going to the gym three to five days a week. Keep up the good work with the video’s cause these points are really important.
I am chinese and I don’t stir fry with sesame oil!! Too much flavor! I add a few drops of sesame oil at the end of the stir fry to flavor it!

If you are going to make baked goods, like bread, make rolls and only have one! It’s also about portion control!
As to fat bombs if you are eating keto correctly you should not need them!
My advise, have whole undefined foods, plan your meals and your macros and you won’t go far wrong! But make sure you are enjoying what you are eating or you will not stick to it!

I thought the satiation feeling in Keto/Low Carb came from the burning of fat, not necessarily the food? Although I guess I can see it from both angles.
