Very educational. What about GLUTEN FREE? The day after I ate Raisin Bran my stomach went from flat to bloated. I lost 55lbs on KETOGENIC LIFESTYLE & have always been active due to ADD/w HYPERACTIVITY! My husband is Type 2 diabetic and a couch potato after working 7 days a week behind a computer. I have THYROID DISEASE, therefore, since discovered my doctor said I will always have high cholesterol. Periodontal disease since late 20’s age. I was a sick baby when born, missing 5 adult teeth & was bullied daily for a birthmark on my face from Kindergarten on up for years until it naturally slowly went away. Also, I have recently learned I have a larger than normal colon after a colonoscopy & misdiagnosed for 28 years. But I still mowed the lawn better than our yard guy, traveled the world , had twins, cut my own hair & the boy’s, volunteered extensively. Then due my doctor’s “infinite wisdom” he put me on a STATIN which nearly killed me. My muscles turned into violin strings, I could not bend over to do housework, get out of bed or turn over in bed. I could only walk forward. When I quit the STATIN, VYTORIN, I drank 2 gallons of whole milk daily, for 3 months; a craving I had to satisfy. Also, misdiagnosed with IBS for 8 years, my sister who lived in SLC suggested I try new technology called Spiral Tomography at a clinic there. The doctor was horrified going through the results and screamed, OMG, you have an extra organ that should not be there! Turns out it was an OBSTRUCTED BILE DUCT‼️ So network, do your research. Don’t trust most doctors. They put a STENT in and left it in for 8 years, which should’ve been removed 1-3 months after insertion. So I was on antibiotics for 8 years for gut infections, pain pills, in & out of Emergency Rooms which cost $1000 monthly, even with good insurance. I always ate healthy high fiber foods. My husband said I ate fruit , nuts, bark, gravel and vegetables. Nothing funny about what felt like a migraine in your gut & gave you muscle spasms in your back that would paralyze your back for 10 days at a time and I would have to hide under a table for 10 days at a time. Hope this helps someone out there. You never totally recover from STATINS. And they keep changing the bar (Cholesterol benchmark #’s so they can sell more drugs)! Gotta go now and eat my spinach!

All government studies (4) show they have the longest life span, the least heart disease and the least cancer. All of this proves we are not meant to be omnivores. And yet the greatest proof of all, is that the diet our Designer gave for mankind, in Genesis to Adam and Eve, was a plant based diet. I think God knows more than you my friend, and more than all the doctors and scientists in all the world. The problem is, is that people that teach that we are omnivores, choose to only look for evidence that supports your bad habits, and yes, eating meat is certainly a bad habit. Well there is 100% connection between IGF-1 and animal protein. This is something body builders try to increase. And there’s a pretty good connection between IGF-1 and cancer (actually those with dwarfism, and lack igf-1, are pretty much immune to cancer). So there’s some truth to the dangers of high meat and animal protein.

Interesting video. Yes the favism I have read about which as I mentioned isn’t good for those that have the G6PD disorder. Well moving on from that, i have very lightly boiled my fava beans. They are not the same kind in your video so wasn’t sure if I could eat them raw. The ones I have are a yellowish colour but round shape like those in this video. I looked them up online and I believe they are have originated from the canary islands. Please can you advise if this kind can be eaten raw?

Just moved back home, and mum is in hospital, so she rings me worried about the fava’s growing in the garden, as they are ready to be picked. Same night I picked them all but didn’t know what to do with them then thought I could take them out of the pods and freeze them, as I have never eaten them. I’m not taking away from the fact that fasting is extremely healthy, but you’ve made a common mistake when it comes to research involving rodents. Mice and rats eat much more often and for many more hours of the day than humans, so if you force them to do intermittent fasting it isn’t the same as a human intermittent fasting. Those types of rodents will eat more than two dozen ‘meals’ a day and they also graze when grazing is an option. Their metabolisms aren’t the same as ours. Fasting has the same benefits in us because we have a similar digestive system, but the amount of time between meals and the benefits from that are not the same.

I’ve been doing Omad for a few weeks. Now my daily schedule is working out in the morning(nothing crazy, just started lifting) and jogging half a mile. I then eat my meal for the day of mostly veggies and protein with a little bit of fats from dark chocolate and nuts. About 1200 cals.Then go to school, get home and walk 5 miles. I need to know if I’m exercising enough, too much and if I’m having enough calories. All of this is to lose body fat and get skinnier so I can focus on building muscle. I’m 17, 190lbs and 5’11. My story, and a concern about your channel: I’ve been doing 20/4 for 6 months with a monthly 48hr fast. I’ve dropped the fat, 40lbs of it. When I started, I couldn’t do a pull-up…and 3 push-ups was a struggle. Now I do 3 sets of 6-8 pull-ups or chin-ups and 4 sets of 12 deep push ups. I lift as heavy as I can. I push to failure in my HIIT routine. I started running again for the first time in 20 years. Oh, by the way, I’m 49. I will turn 50 in better shape and looking and feeling younger than I was at 35. I used to be an athlete in my 20’s. An avid mountain biker and climber. I injured my spine in my late 20’s and I lay on a sofa for 20 years. I would call my comeback a miracle. — Your vids have contributed to the wealth of information and motivation I sought to keep going. I want to thank you for that! And to the folks who comment about their struggles and successes.. tremendous help also! Thank you, guys! You helped me change my life! You probably helped me save my life. My concern with your channel: I find your attempts to cover the science rather lacking in confidence, and deep understanding of the topics you discuss. It doesn’t help to put up misspelled words on the screen. I think you’ll find your numbers are low because a lot of people doing IF and keto are pretty smart. Resveratrol should be white. If it is brown it has been exposed to too much light and this means it won’t work. It must be kept in dark and cold place.

As a graduate of Biomedical Sciences the concept of autophagy was taught to be associated with cell death rather than the process of cell repair and renewal (treated almost as a side issue rather than an important health concept). It’s important to get across the current misinterpretations of our metabolic processes and correct by reinforcing new interpretations around ketosis and fasting and why this works. We also need to be clear it’s not easy to practise in a (developed) world of over consumption and access to cheap processed carb rich and veg oil based junk food. Furthermore, there’s a widely held perception that to feel hungry isn’t acceptable or healthy out there, which is also incorrect and extremely dangerous. These are difficult behaviours and beliefs to explain to other in attempts to agree breaking. I’ve personally alienated friends (who struggle with weight) when trying to explain the correct way forward. It’s amazing how embedded eating, hunger, fat, cholesterol levels are fixed in people’s Psyche to the point of not accepting anything other than the current accepted misinformation. There is a huge mountain to climb.

i think; why do you say that plant base diet is good if according to his studies, only casein was the culprit. To me, i believe more in a very diverse food intakes than an exclusive diet which inevitably leads to nutrient deficiency. if you don’t eat meat, you better eat nuts or you might end up with very low iron level (for exemple). What else we don’t know about nutrients level and their effects on our health? The guy you talked about eat a little bit of salmon… well, salmon is rich in omega 3 which is very good at cleaning up arteries and controling bad cholesterol! So you see my point.
I personally eat meat once a week and i enjoy it. But i also love cabbage, mixed veges, bruxells, carrots, peas and so on and with a touch of butter, those are a delight. But i also can enjoy a slice of bacon with my eggs if i feel like it.
Who wants to live a life devoid of pleasure just to live 4 more years? Eating meat is a pleasure and that’s why people eat it. Now, there is vege burger, so maybe it will be easier to let go of meat, as far as the content of those vege burger is not full of salt and all kind of chemicals to make it palatable…
My autophagy recipe is 2 to 3 cups broccoli, 1 medium carrot, 1 beetroot, some spinach, 4 whole eggs, some beans, 1 medium radish, 250 gram of chicken/panner cooked in ghee (clarified butter). Add some ginger, garlic, chilli, acv, jeera and dhaniya for taste. I eat twice a day (intermediate fasting) and omad twice a week and it’s amazing.

Autophagy can reach optimum levels with Keto and IF. After a year on Keto and Intermittent Fasting I lost 52pounds and 5inches waist line as well as many my grey hair replacing with usual dark hair. Even my skin is glowing as if good cream applied though I never use any creams. Most importantly there are no saggy skin in any part of my body though I lost fat uniformly. Keto and IF works period most importantly it is not a painful or difficult diets like many other diets only drawback is we have to make our own food preparations with keto ingredients unlike enjoying some fast food or other restaurant foods or processed packaged foods from grocery stores.
