The Benefits of Macebell Training Improved Grip Strength. Grip strength—a combination of hand, finger, and forearm strength—is an often-overlooked aspect Strong and Healthy Shoulders. The shoulder girdle is the least stable joint in the entire bod.
Steel mace training revolves around the idea of rotation in itself. Due to the offset load the steel mace provides, the body must adapt and rotate the body with opposite and equal force, in order to stabilize and maintain proper structure needed for quality movement. The mace gives you an opportunity to explore grip in various different ways, from the swing to hand transitions, your grip will be required to change and adapt to the situation.
Core Training: Everyone could use a stronger core. The ability of the Mace to target core stability is incredible.Even if you regularly weave in new exercise variations, you’re likely still performing the same fundamental moves with the same basic tools (dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, or bands) in the.BENEFITS OF STEEL MACE TRAINING The steel mace can play as large or as small a role in your training as you like, and it can be applied to achieving virtually any fitness goal.
You may choose to use it as an adjunct to barbell and other free-weight training, or let the mace be the sole piece of exercise equipment in your home gym.Along with mace 10&2 and 360, gravediggers are great exercise for improving mobility as a warming up, while building strength of the shoulder girdle. Another benefit of mace training I’ve noticed is improved core stability and strength.
Your abdominal muscles are challenged with every mace move.A lot of exercises swing the mace behind the head, which makes it a great for working the scapula, upper back, midline, and other muscles involved with posture.”The mace allows the ability to heavily challenge both strength and stability with comparatively light loads,” Weeditz says.
Lighter loads means less. There are a lot of benefits to using a Steel mace. One of the biggest benefits is a more intimate setting.
You can have a one on one personal relationship with a trainer, or in a small group setting consisting of friends and family. This will definitely make you more comfortable when embarking on this journey.Through swinging motions, movements that has the steel mace move across the body, or transverse movements, the weight distribution of the steel mace takes your core strength and stability to a whole different level.
The engagement in your core and be felt instantly.Benefits of steel mace training: Develops strong, powerful, and mobile shoulders. Develops crushing grip strength. Works stabilizer muscles like no other.Fun and effective, steel mace training is so great because it creates a demanding full body workout.
The versatility in this training tool allows those who practice with it to customize their training for strength, muscle building, endurance, or fat loss. In other words, whatever your needs are, steel mace can help address them. It’s actually one of the benefits, since the relatively simple, basic movements of the mace offer a well-rounded, comprehensive workout for your body without a whole lot of fuss. The mace, or gada, is essentially a weight on the end of a shaft.
Steel mace training focuses on a very specific aspect of physical training, using the remarkable steel mace (mace bell) for functional strength and myofascial conditioning. Macebells are unlike any other type of exercise equipment providing very unique and powerful functional strength benefits.Just like the Steel Mace, the Steel Club is highly versatile and can be used in a variety of ways to challenge the entire body.
Due to the large swinging cross-body rotational exercises the Steel Club is excellent for rotational strength and anti-rotational strength through acceleration and deceleration of.

What’s the advantage to wearing a backpack when working out?
Nice movements and training technique but a little too “California” for me. Or maybe it was just the phyco powder-puff girl music, I can’t tell. I think I will give this a go with a sledge/ax and have a bit of fun with it. Thanks
Seems easy but look at his face! That shit must be heavy and hard to control as hell!
just a piece of advice brother try to get rid of those raised heel shoes will greatly help you, train barefoot or with minimalist shoes for better biomechanics
You’re looking badass with the beard and long hair! You should check out Coach Rich Thurman and Leo Urquides for mace work. Also Coach Vaughn. On it Academy has good info on this as well.
I’m kinda confused about whether or not he means to be correcting bad form, or just taking OK form and making it the best. He hesitated to call the methods he wants to replace “mistakes”. And kept on saying ” better choice “. He never said to not do them, just that his way is better. He is kinda unclear. If the methods he corrected aren’t “mistakes” then this video is just an opinion piece about what’s the best, not a professional correcting beginners. I’m not saying he’s wrong, I just wish he was more clear about if he’s correcting a bad method or if he’s improving on perfectly valid methods.
I keep waiting for someone to get clocked in the head but it doesn’t happen.
great explaniation
take a look at the India version of this one called Karla Kattai https://www.amazon.in/SweatShop-Wooden-Indian-Mugdar-Clubbell/dp/B01KDY94RM
Best one of the series yet! Gonna try both of these techniques.
Damn, my centerline looks like a pendulum when I swing. And I’m up to a fourty pounder…… Looks like it’s back to the drawing board:(
Its like watching Sonny Crockett with beard explaining how to lift
i hate arm chair experts that comment on videos just because they didn’t think of it first. Then shit on people that want to help people with lessons
Thank you for this! I just received my mace from ONNIT and am so excited for my mace flow journey to supplement my olympic lifts.:)
What size do you guys recommend for a 200lb guy that trains rowing and weights on a daily basis? 15-20lb?
Looks like that mace is way too heavy for the guy in the black t-shirt.
Good tips. Found most of those out myself when starting to do these. It’s basically physics. Don’t focus on the size and location of the weight, but on the flow of the movement and the control. Let the mass work for you, not against you.
Clubbing now gets a whole new and better meaning for me. Great stuff
If anyone wants to learn to properly swing a mace/gada, check out Paul Wokowlinski.
It’s Indian mace aka gada..this weapon is used by Lord hanuman… This weapon is the symbol of strength and power and only yield by strong physic mans
Wow, just bought a mace, and was struggling with my 360 form until I found this video. Thanks for breaking down the technique so well.
5-part club series… but no playlist, nor links in description. >_<
do you want me to watch the rest of the videos or not?
SOLVED: search keywords: john wolf mind pump (figure out the order yourself).
The mace looks bad ass i like it. With bands how do you train calves?keep the vids coming james thank you love the pidcast as well.
Do these guys get these big muscles from these and kettlebells? Hard to believe you can get big from these movements
I’ve seen Indian guys on YouTube using this same implement and they don’t look nearly as fit and strong as the white guys using it. If they want to sell this product they had better hope their customers don’t see Indians using it because they will think it’s useless.
Is the Macebell and Clubbell popular now? Wow. I’ve been away for way too long.
We here in India mostly use wooden clubs. They are bigger in size for the same weight.
I’ve been swinging the Gadas since the 90s. I hate how people come in with a college education and now they want to evolve exercises that have been in practice for a thousand or so years.
That’s how money works if you can’t sell a new system you don’t make any cash.
Because boring ol routines that have been the standard and proven must always be improved upon.
Good luck
Just got my 7 lb Mace and will use these tips in learning how to use it. Awesome!
The key to the 360 is not moving the body around to avoid the mace…by not ducking out and away from it.
That’s a nice mace. The whole mace exercise thing originated in India and they’ve been doing this for centuries but they use a mace made from iron. It’s pretty effective for strengthing grip, shoulders, rotator cuffs, forearms.
If you like maces you may also like this: http://www.clubbell.tv/
I’d say the biggest mistake i made whilst doing this type is wacking myself in my baby maker area OUCH!
Black shirt really likes his schmedium fit shirts huh? Also I can see his little wee wee print
hunny, I found you new Mace to take to work….this mace will hurt though!
You rock bro! Thanks for sharing. Interesting technique for core strength and arms. awesome!
Should you be switching which hand is on top when doing the exercises? Like swapping your left (lower) hand every other set with the right hand?
I am going through a shoulder rehab program (soreness due to past injury), I am thinking of utilizing the steel mace for shoulder rotation exercises (pendulum swings) this is to supplement my rotator cuff rehab any thoughts?
The whole point of using a mace is for mobility with weight. If you doing the exercises like that you may as well use normal weights.
Great video on keeping the core braced and owning the midline.
Just a reminder, all the links mentioned in this video ARE IN THE DESCRIPTION above.
hi James with the bands v weights; traditionally with weights you would refer to progression based on “weight amount”. With bands, is progression based on just the feel of resistance? e.g you use a thick green band, is that equivalent to a 30kg dumbbell or it’s a different mindset?
Cool:) Do some great stuff with Master of Maces Leo Urquides:) He knows how to use tools:)
We in India have been doing the workout with mace, though they are made up of wood. This is the traditional workout in India.
“intention with a t or in tension with an a”
Quelle profond!
Thanks I already made to mace I ll start exercising soon in real traditional style
I have wrestled for almost my entire life. I love history and especially the history of wrestling. Like 15 years ago I was reading about the best kushti wrestler ever from India, The Great Gama, he did a ton of Hindu pushups, deep knee bends (a different variation of squats) in addition to using traditional wrestler exercises like mace swinging. I saw they made them from a large branch, concrete and a clay pot. I made one out of a old small basketball and a shovel handle and it works fucking awesome. Been using it ever since. Awesome for grip, core strength and even striking. Now they are bring made out of steel and look really cool. I like how you do non traditional training and think outside the box.
I remember when I first started training with Mace’s I used a 5 lb sledgehammer before I bought my first Mace.
Looks like a nice breeze is coming off the ocean…what a workout setting.
bajarangbali mace (hindu mace)
strongest weapon for strongest warrior
that age old technique by which mud wrestler train in India.
but iam happy its getting western recognization
Much like the Chuiishi in Goju Ryu Karaté and other Okinawan systems.
I followed this guy and developed my best physique ever. I thank you sir.
AWESOME VID! i was waiting for something like this… Great content… Plus now i have proof and a good back up source to prove someone wrong lol
Juuust got my steel mace, but I’ve been going through some of your videos before I really try ithoping to take it nice and steady so I don’t cause injury jumping in too quick. These have all been super helpful, I’m so stoked to get started!
Another video from my favorite youtuber! I like the long hair brother. The very first video i saw of yours you were rocking a buzz cut. Anyway this was an interesting one. Keep em coming! I buy your products and ive been a loyal subscriber for probably over 3 years now. Youre a great role model! And what you do is always much appreciated!
I’ve been at it with mace for some years now and I still learned a lot here thanks, would love to see a part two.
What times of handle grips will work for the resistance bands to use
But why do it if all it does is shoulders and grip? There are plenty of other things to work those muscles….
Great tips! I will use these in my practice. Also, Justin is my favorite. Just sayin.
Mace always reminds me of using a broad sword in tai chi as it’s the same movement
for beginner do you suggest a short mace (30 inches-8.8 lbs), applications/exercices? Will you take a long macebell ( 51 inches8.8 lbs to 17 lbs ) Agatsu. Which one do you recommend?
Ill give you a better tool that is cheaper and adjustable that will make ur exercise waay harder
A wet mop.
By all means, James, this is advanced and a nice inspiration. I like the martial arts aspect. Thanx.
