Thanks so much for the awesome advice dude! I’m making a move this year from Cen. FL (not cold…) to the Smokies (very cold…), so I need all the help I can get here for this first “cold winter”. I can tell already mittens are gonna be on my list to buy—among other things! Really solid advice at the end there too, about not overdoing it…definitely gonna keep that in mind!
Since my Brookes broke in, I find I no longer need cycling shorts, so just resort to jogging bottoms, but a lycra jersey is a must to wick away all that sweat, and store my phone. Mind you I’m only doing upto 45km a day, maybe it changes beyond that.
maybe you should try socks printer https://youtu.be/tWZ962a9o8U
Just gonna throw it out there. We really need an update vid on this with mannon in <3 maybe go more into layers and maybe even cycle rucksacks.
this guy have a GF, wife and/or kids?? Just curious how he finds all ths YT time. Cool.
I care about what I look like, and I don’t want to look like a squid in a plastic bag. So this fat boy wears baggies. Mountain biking shorts over cycling underpants, and a quick dry T shirt or long sleeve (UV protection) T shirt when sunny.
When it’s piddling down with rain, “Baggys” tend to cling and become quite uncomfortable. Tight fitting Lycra isn’t so uncomfortable when it’s wet, and still remains relatively warm.
Love lycra on the bottom…but nylon singlets on top, tank tops, no sleeves for me. Who wants sleeves on a 90 degree day. Yeah, I know…sun protection, but jeez.:)
On a second note: do you use any snow/ice spikes? I am getting concerned about running with these condition (my first year) and our weather is comparable with yours. Any suggestions?
Haha is that your dog joining the video audio towards the end? Sighing and acknowledging in background.:-)
Speaking of the feet, that is my biggest issue. Just this morning, my run was going very well. I wore trail runners because we have packed snow on the unplowed roads of the park. Most of it is plowed and salted and the snow roads don’t bother me. However, for the first time in my life, I did seriously end up with mild frost bite on all of my toes because I accidentally ran right into an ice covered puddle. The last mile, I slowly couldn’t feel my toes. So, I was able to get home after 5 miles (only in trouble the last mile 9-10 min. from contact w/water to home) and pull shoes, socks off and get into warm water. I could not feel them at all walking on my way to the shower. I am seriously thinking of Gortex treated trail runners. It’s no joke! BTW, I love merino wool everything! It has been a game changer for my winter runs. I truly enjoy daily runs, no matter the weather. I would try to budget water resistant/proof or Gortex trail runners. Close call! Happy running. I really enjoyed this video! Subbing to your channel now.
When I see people in lycra, whether they’ve been riding all day or wether its athleisure (posing) i cant think of anything but how much bacteria is going wild in there. Its pretty disgusting.
If you have a chiseled physique wear lycra. If you have a flabby physique wear loose.simple!
Great recommendations. Luckily it doesn’t get much colder than 0 C (33 F) here in Madrid so I very seldom need to bundle up for extreme weather. Buffs are awesome, I have about 6 all with different materials. Some polar fleeced ones for colder days and some lighter ones for everything in between.
I’ve found the secret is the base layer long sleeve top. I got a couple recently (on sale too!) and I usually just wear them with a t-shirt over and a lighter running sweater on top of that. That’s enough to get me through most runs here.
Recently splurged on a Gore Wear running jacket which is the most expensive items of clothing I own aside from my winter coat! I haven’t had the chance to use it yet which is actually a good thing. It probably won’t rain for ages now and it’ll just sit in my closet. But I’ll be ready when it does. Also bought some Gore Wear gloves and they are really great (a little pricey tho). They keep my hands warm and dry and I can keep them on during my entire run and never feel sweaty and clamy. I had some cheaper Nike gloves that I used for years but even on the coldest days I had to take them off after about 30 mins because my hands would get very hot and sweaty. Plus they never really kept my hands warm. Went from freezing to uncomfortably warm in like 5 mins.
Anyway, really appreciate the suggestions, especially the more reasonably priced stuff. Def gonna check out Craft and TCA gear.
I personally think that the best way to build fitness for mtb is to just ride all the time and for longer time
Love this video. Training for first marathon in February in Arizona, but I live in NY. This helps.
almost a whole hour of content between you and Seth today thank you!
Been following alot of the GMBN workouts for the gym has helped me so much this year
Getting fitter and stronger on the bike so thank you for all the tips and videos you all do
I’ve definitely found that running in winter does have some wonderful bonuses on the shores of Lake Michigan (or any other large body of water I would have to assume). The sounds of cracking ice when it is frozen over and the views for example. I usually find that on normal winter days I can be very comfortable in a pair of insulated leggings and compression shirt then a pair of shorts and a sweatshirt over the top; after i get that first mile or two in I am up to a good operating temperature and it starts to feel like just another day.
However, on the really cold days I will put on a fleece hat and gloves… plus, i tape a disposable hand warmer to the front of my leggings for reasons I don’t think i need to mention…. or I throw in the towel and do very repetitive laps around the indoor track at the local high school and with any luck they sometimes have the bleachers out so I can hit the stairs.
I will definitely look into the balaclava though for myself and my son that is really getting into running.
Another great video. Many thanks for so many ideas.
One question that I have is how do you organize drinking during long winter runs ( about 2 hours)? Do you carry bottles with you? Or do you place the bottles somewhere?
And, what do you drink? Warm beverages?
I tried to run with a hat/beanie the other day, but I kinda felt claustrophobic with it. Like I couldn’t breath and couldn’t get rid of the heat.
Key for serious cold: wind-block undies (to wear underneath tights or running pants). Makes such an enormous difference!
What socks would you recommend for hot weather running? Right now I have balega hidden comfort and they get soaked from sweat in hot weather and cause blisters. Any recommendations?
I wore regular t-shirts as a teen. Then a wasp bumped my throat and ended up blown under said shirt. That was both a quick and painful strip. Since then, my riding shirts have tight collars.
I havent been running for a while but here in Finland you end up running in the cold quite a while. Good hat and something all the way to your mouth in the beginning to warm up the air a bit. Gloves should be thin as you warm up during the run and it will get too hot. And good socks and shoes. On winter I have a different pair of shoes, Icebugs, and they are essential here. If there is enough snow you can probably manage with “normal” shoes, but when it is ice it is a must. They give you a lot of stability and safety. Seeing your video made me want to start to run again!:) Cheers
god i needed this video. same weather here (toronto) and ive been freezing my ass off! its great that you’re using products that aren’t necessarily running brands… to avoid that skyhigh pricepoint where you can spend half a grand on a synthetic down jacket. kudos
I think two ESSENTIALS are: if you’re running during the day in full sun, you NEED sunglasses as the reflection from the snow and ice will wreak havoc on your eyes. If you’re running early or evening, just having some kind of high-visibilty device/clothes if you’re running on driving roads. Stay safe and have fun!
Noticed no Nike products in this. Was this due to your current stance on Nike? Or just don’t really use Nike products that much in winter?
1:32 Many places you cannot ride in rain or wet trails. If the soil has a very high % of clay and it would destroy the trails to ride them wet.
Good video, but surely it’s just a bike cave, doesn’t have to be just for us male riders.
Here in Eastern Europe this is the hottest autumn from what i m remember.
I’m early, nice.
Btw please do more blake x sam pilgrim videos. Their the funniest crap i’ve ever watched
I love the rain. I live in a apartment. There are no hoses garages or yard like spaces to clean my bike. I end up with a bucket scrubbing then I have to clean the walk
The only time I see cyclists wearing lycra clown costumes is on sundays, when the white 40+ men having a mid-life crisis are out and about.
Everyone else just wears normal clothes, including me.
Thank you so much for the running pants suggestion. I love them but they are normally so expensive
Thank u for share this video.. really nice and helpful information..
Man the new Canyon strive is really bad…the last year’s model was perfect.
Bike cave dude, less of tha man cave, think about them gals. Ladies love bikes too!
I find it interesting that you suggest riding in muddy conditions. Most trails I know of don’t want riders on the trail when they are wet and muddy. There are a few exceptions, but not many. Riding in muddy conditions does a lot of damage to the trails and the people who work on them, usually volunteers, are not happy when riders go on closed trails or don’t follow the general rule of not riding when the trails are wet.
Haha give us a thumbs up like if you’re ready to shread your bike.
Please please please stop saying ride in the rain, At least add the caveat of ride in the rain if your trails can handle it. Please
I swear you are so lucky that you get to experience the cold weather, Hawaii never gets cold lol
Really pleased you highlighted this. Can not stand cyclists who look like they are on the Tour de France complete with sponsors logos. I have never wore a helmet either. I don’t see the point.
I would highly recommend the Nike Snood. It is a soccer product but i have used it in a few long runs for conditioning in early cold morning. You should give it a try.
I made a dress for me from that breathable quick drying fabric, somewhere between tight and baggy, with a back pocket and inner shorts. Finally happy on a bike.
This makes Scotland look tame, not sure about running on the edge of the water. Even when I wear waterproof socks I am trying my best to avoid unnecessary moisture in my feet. Buff is a great all year round flexible piece of gear. Winter as you described and summer on the head as a sweatband or protect the head from the sun. Carpe Diem
I live in Wisconsin and damn it got cold fast this year! Great video and run warm

What would have been great, it to see the host and their camera selected for “sun up”, and then timed 14 hours later for “sun down” (obviously would have to pick the right geographic location)
BUT, no fridges (thank goodness) and no fridge magnets – a few book shleves tho! Nice.
This was (surprisingly) a very mixed bag. (Lots of book plugging, but sure, ok, this is what its all about!)
Rory does seem to “ham it up” zoom has been around for some time and globally distributed teams and integrated apps like Zapier have been around for a few years now.
Yeah… good effort.
Interesting from many aspects, some surprising, some for good reasons, some for not so good reasons…
Quick drying t-shirts & outdoor pants that convert to shorts, no helmet, sunglasses, backpack…300+ miles per week.
The part at the end is very, very true and something to be cautious about. Long runs in the windy cold can really ruin you
I am a cyclist. I am also 130kg. I cant find affordable decently fitting lycra, and to be fair, no one wants to see me wearing anything like that. So I wear a basketball singlet and lycra shorts in the summer (basketball singlets are long and breathable, and loose enough to be comfy and tight enough not to flap about), or in the winter lycra shorts with a technical fabric shirt of some kind, with a gilet or jacket of some kind. I dont LOOK like a cyclist, but when I keep up with the guy in his flash gear, on his expensive bike, I dont really care. Its about the ride, and the fitness/health and not “looking like a cyclist who can put away some miles”. Put away the miles, and smirk at the guys you just dropped.
Just Between Me And The Subscribers But Does It Seem The Lack Of Content On Both GMBN and GMBN Tech Have You Wondering If They Are Now Just Slapping Together Videos (Or The Lack Of Videos GMBN Tech) Just For The Monetization Factors of Said Subscriber Numbers? The Pushing Of Sponsored Content?
Seems Strange They Would Add New Hosts and Then Less Content.
Just Saying.
Thanks for the recommendation on the TCA pants. I ran in them yesterday super comfortable and warm. When it gets colder I may layer them with tights.
Yesterday in NYC it wasn’t brutally cold but it was windy. What do you recommend for an outer layer wind resistant top. I’m contemplating getting an SJD style Salomon wind resistant jacket.
Blake I have a question for you. How long would you consider a “short” ride?
i’m a 13 year old girl and i’m proud to say i’ve ridden EVERY SINGLE bike park in England, Scotland and Wales:)
Helpful information. But cotton socks for all that water you run in? Cotton holds water. Why not a more technical sock?
I absolutely love your content. It has been so helpful for me to know what stuff to buy and wear and it seems like I have been doing so many things wrong all these years with my cycling!
I feel for you folks in the midwest!!! I ran last night in a singlet and shorts and was still hot and humid:)
Stay warm my friend!!
Rocky and Wales = Antur Stiniog not forest of Dean when are we going to see gmbn crew up north??
Yo! Great insightsOne thing you didn’t mention and I thought you should check out, are these Craft undies equipped with Windstopper for battling chills in the southern area https://www.craftsportswear.com/B2C%20-%20Craft/all-products-7a58fca3/clothes/underwear/1904506-9999-c1373a4e/
1:44 lol! I need a “MAF TRAINING” t-shirt so I can pretend to be a fast runner holding back during my runs.
I totally love your channel! Really like this episode. Would you have one of your club member lady do the same for winter running essential for ladies? 2) I understood that you went back to Apple Watch but, I did not understand what you had as a “second” choice. I found hard to use touch screen during the winter (Boston winter!!!). Thanks!!! Great YouTube content!!!
I much prefer the cooler temps for running but you’re right in that some days, despite my best efforts, it can just be too cold to run the distance I am targeting.
Good review of the cold gear. I agree with you, it sucks that you have to do this video so early in the fall. Lol
I’m trying to get the CEP socks but I have an ankle width of 7.5 inch. CEP wants you to use ankle measurements to find your size. I’m a size 2..which they don’t offer for men….SO my confusion has prevented me from buying CEP socks. I’m a US 10.5 in shoe…
CEP recommends me buying the women size 2 (foot size women 4.5-6.5. No way I’m fitting in a women’s…the customer service at CEP says the sock will stretch but how can it stretch THAT much to equal as mens sizer 10.5 foot. My ankle measures the same as the women size 2 but my foot length would be a size L in 2XU… so confusing. Please help if your familiar with CEP’s fitment.
An episode focused on mtb gym workouts for average people who are weekend warriors ( not young racers ) would be great.
I have that same buff from road runner and love it! Haven’t been able to find it again
The main reason that puts me off wearing the lycra are the packs of goons on the road who wear this stuff and take over the road completely acting with such arrogance, annoying other drivers and ‘normal’ cyclistsI know there will be many reading these comments who fit this description.
You are scaring me with the sliding!! I would have busted my behind
Hey, great list. Just found your channel and I’m really enjoying your content! Something you might want to experiment with is wearing Latex (or Nitrile) gloves under your other gloves or mittens. As you can imagine, it traps all the heat and keeps your hands nice and toasty (albeit, very sweaty). These gloves are much cheaper than hand warmers, so you’d be saving a little coin. This was something I learned when I was playing lacrosse in very cold temps, worked really well for me.
57:40 Benoit DeFleurian (IS this section a parody? Is this that French sense of humour that us Brits dont get?)
LOL! Paris and Art. A love hate relationship.
And the old trap; of asking visitor what they think of the Louvre Pyramid. What ever you say is punished!
“Fantastic” NON! It is a scourge upon the face of Paris.
“Horrible” NON! C’est magnifique!
The only answer is “ITS PERFECT…. FOR PARIS”.
Yeah, my parents had one thing to say about Paris, and it was the urine.. everywhere. WHY?
1:00:00 OH FFS! The Broken Window Theory was one of “THOSE” lexems as per Kai’s talk. When used in NY it was effectively a racist programme that targetted non-whites, frisking, “zero tolerance” or “zealotry” for short.
And as to Zimbardo; that prison study – The experiment has been repeated, without the end results of Zimbardo’s. And i think this has become muddled through history. Zimbardo was actually making a point to show that prison reforms were needed. And if my read is right, it was a warning as to what we’re seeing with the contemporary issues with police and oppression. That such structures are vulnerable to manipulation by a few to create an horrendous outcome (Zimbardos point of ‘manipulating’ the guards. This wasnt a dishonest endeavour, but one done to show how easily the institutional apparatus can be co-opted by a very small minority as we are now seeing)
1:01:50 Also, I have to ask… if it is socially acceptable… then…who is determining otherwise? I mean, personally, I find it objectionable, but then, natural. Life, has been overly sanitised and in the words of at least one great French philosopher… has become “Hyper-Real”
To say “this in not a place you can pee” is to enforce an opinion and judgement. People CAN pee there. Its within their physical capability. What you mean is “we would like people NOT to pee here, even though they can”.
Im a huge polarity responder. I dont need to be told “Not to pee on the floor” as ive seen in some public toilets. When I read this, its my assumption that the persons who put that sign there had an assumption, a very low expectation of my behaviour… and it grates… so much, I pee on the floor just to make a point; that this rhetorical device doesnt work.
Give people a good reputation to live up to; not assume the worst.
1:02:39 FFS:
“Junkies” oh wow, what a compassionate description. So loaded with EMPATHY, EMPOWERMENT and what was that other word Kai used? EARNEST… wow.
“NO more junkies”. WHAT A PRICK… NO! The “junkies” just go somewhere else…
Yes, THIS IS exactly “broken window” theory, punishing the poor, punishing the destitute, washing them away, discriminating against people with issues, problems and often victims of institutional bias. So much for building community – only if your face fits? I see…
. The Ogilvy representative didnt say what happened to the “Junkies” did they get help, or were they just “moved on” to someone elses problem? (I.e not really solved the problem, just “nudged” it down the road)
(Im kinda cautious of the sub-text with this presenter… it has “tendencies”)
AND YOU OUGHT TO KNOW, it seems SNCF didnt want the bad publicity, so they’ve hired an intermediary to do the dirty work?
1:02:55 The dude says “bringing back social norms”… but it seems pissing in the street IS the social norm there. What is he talking about! (I mean, I dont like the idea of peeing in the street, but, “When in Rome…”, or more specifically, “When in France…”)
Creativity…yeah…blah blah..blah. Not sure what to make of this segment.
13:07 That slide was crazy. Glad you didn’t lose your balance. Also, how do you move forward with less traction?
9:40 I saw someone doing that today when going to the gym to run on the treadmill lol.
Weird idea but what do you think about rubbing on capsaicin topical cream (for muscle aches) on the arms and legs and core?
Are you riding for commencal now is is that just the World Cup team who have the joint sponsorship between mucoff
That was me driving past in background on my way to QE/ Buriton
2mph faster. From 18 to 20 mph average-speed just by looking like a gimp on vacation.
Wearing skintight lycra will take, on average, about 45 seconds off your time over the course of 40 km. Unless you’re actually racing, that doesn’t seem worth it, considering how expensive those getups are.
if u have a north face outlet near you try to stop in and look at some flight series stuff, been my favorite for everything from rain to mountains right now
Seriously, $30 for a pair of CEP low cut is a joke. Do you suggest Nike cause it’s a popular brand?
Lycra or baggy, or somewhere in-between? What’s your go-to for cycling?
Some people ride to get fit, so the less efficient the shirt is, the more effort you can exert over lesser distance. The faster we go, the more time we’ll spend in the pub, and its not as if we’re short of that now
Love your videos generally. But specially love that you actually run in a cold city!! Gets a bit tiring listening to runners talk about cold running only to find out they live in California LOL I have routinely run in temperatures
20 / -30 / -40 Celcius and have moved back to that kind of winter weather this year; 53rd parallel north. I know Chicago is quite capable of reaching those temps at least some times:) What I have not done before is train in those sorts of temps and I’m doing Boston again in the spring, so it should be an interesting build. And I don’t do treadmills (there are days I wish I could but I just. can’t. do. it!:) ), although ‘speed work’ will be done on an indoor track. In any event, waterproof (e.g. goretex or shield) so windproof shoes are an absolute must for me, and a pair of shoes with ice spikes for the icy days after a thaw and refreeze. And I wear two pairs of socks, one of them double walled. I also wear gaiters to keep snow out of my shoes. On my hands I wear more than when I ski –usually a wickable base layer, fleece mittens and a goretex mitten outer shell. No matter what I’m layered with on legs and upper body, the final layer is a windproof shell a layer of ice usually forms on the penultimate layer under that wind breaker. Goggles, definitely. THE biggest challenge is mouth and nose coverings. No matter what I use and I have tried a lot of different combinations, ultimately it freezes over enough that getting enough air for the exertion becomes really annoying:) I’ve tried changing face coverings mid run but in deep freeze temps its just too dangerous to expose a sweaty face and head to those temps, so long runs can get cut short or broken into two parts so I can go home and change face gear. Your caution about monitoring one’s self in cold is excellent. I would add to watch for clothing creep that can expose skin by mistake (e.g. a hat rides up and ear lobes get exposed, or ankles where pants and socks stop meeting). That all said, on Sunday I did a run in shorts!!! A week earlier it was minus 18 C. Have fun out there! Thanks for the tips…. try these from Amazon or Roadrunners. They are a great deal and wick moisture away better than cotton…. and they are made in the USA: https://www.amazon.com/R-Gear-Running-Quarter-Breathable-Performance/dp/B07BW52GZ5
GMBN isnt very good anymore. They just regurgitate old videos in a different order.
Winter came early and with a vengeance in Montreal! I ran this afternoon and it felt like a February evening! I lost some weight since last winter and I am now feeling the cold more bitterly than I remember.
Do the people around you a favour and stay away from skintight pants.
Hey kofuzi, I’m a xc / track runner in 9th grade and I’m looking for some new running shoes. I was thinking of getting a pair for longer road runs, and a faster, tempo run pair of shoes. I’ve been running in the Pegasus turbo 2’s for about 3 months, and I was wondering if anyone has advice on which new shoes to get! Great videos!:)
I grew up and lived in and around Chicago and was running 100 mile weeks there. I now live in the Rocky Mountains not far from Boulder. Let me tell you the winters here are much more pleasant than Chicago! Over the years I have gravitated to Sport Hill apparel. I am not a spokesman for them. I spend my own money to buy their gear. Their equipment is durable, layerable, and you can get stuff suited to the cold/colder/coldest ranges. Check it out. Enjoy your winter running!
I think it’s completely sexist that all the close-ups of the shorts were of Si’s butt only. And quite annoying too:/
Waterproof socks from seal skinz have been my first choice for years. Wind stopper is also pretty darn good for most situations.
For cold-cold Michigan running my go-to has been Sporthill 3SP fabric pants and top (pass on the gloves though-too thin). They stop the wind and breathe well. Neither cheap nor lightweight, but will last many seasons. Face and feet become the limiting factor.
The first scene is NSFW. Although I’m not complaining.
Nice shorts Si.:)
one more tip is riding with someone who’s actually better&faster than you, let them lead and you follow down the trail. you’ll pick up a skill or two by doing this. just keep humble and suck up your strava pride for a moment.
plus you can verify if that guy who’s topped you on strava using an e-bike or not 😉
Only problem is if you have fat rolls you will see every one of them in Lycra. Lol.
Hi! Why don’t you try this, use https://www.strideline.com/?ref=bb-yygerj when shopping for the best socks use the code BBH3DND for extra 10% of discount

Deprivations based research… ah, there was a philosopher. Forget which one (so many) that talked about deprivation and sensation. You just cant get away from from the good feelings of sensation. The example he had, was even when everything is taken from us, except the manky rug upon which to sleep, the feeling of that rug becomes an exquisite sensory experience.
“You dont know what you’ve got till its gone” Cinderella – GREAT SONG.
“Give me something to believe in” Poison – EQUALLY GOOD
“Comfortably Numb” not a song, but an immersive experience.
Strikes me, though “ALL THIS” is really bifurcation of title. Evidenced by the “double entry” book keeping. Ass + Lies = Equity. Says it all really.
We create value by prescribing rights, which is to say, exclude everyone by default, then grant “rights” to those with the “purchase” power. In a way, it takes a whole, splits it, creating a liability (something due) and a benefit. Merge the titles! End it all!
As a grand commentary on all “this” (seeking to understand behaviour) it seems is a response to the ever increasing fractionation of splitting more and more assets to finer and finer levels of abstraction. The more we discriminate in this way, the more fractionated behaviour seems to be.
How about “chunking up” rather than down?
YES! Very much a “discovery within the artificial negative space” SPANDRELS and all that!
1:12:00 HEHE! “Oxygen Deprivation” also has interesting results! Thats a HIGH!
SAY-DO-GAPS! I like that!
1:16:20 A lot of this can be explained with cabbage.
Imagine a scenario, where one parent comes home from the hard day at the office (as if! And pre-covid) ; asks the other “whats for tea?” (A)
The home-parent says “Cabbage”. (B)
(A) then pulls a face at the young child and mimics a horrible expression and says “YUK”
Now, it might be that (A) has had cabbage for the last 4 days in a row and is fed up.
It might be that (B) loves cabbage and thats why they cook it.
In any case, the child, now, will not like cabbage. Thats it. Installed. Done. Forever will not like cabbage.
Same, it seems, with politics.
Its dumb, but important.
And as with politics, things are ruined. (B) who loved cabbage is now out numbered 2:1
(A) was ambivalent anyway.
(child hates it and now pulls faces and kicks up a fuss every time its served and cant be convinced)
(B) complains to (A) about this irresponsible behaviour
(A) makes comment about “working hard” and that its a small thing
(B), now diminished, and not valued, isolated, and alone, now has their experience of cabbage ruined too. Everyone is miserable. No one got their needs met.
Fuq the world.
1:17:00 Packaging, Planograms – fascinating stuff.
“Infinite options”, ironically, diminishes value.
Interesting.
A nice, tight presentation.
I refuse to wear spandex. It looks uncomfortable. I wear cargo shorts and a tee shirt. Gotta stay smooth for the ladies.
I’ve been riding in my normal clothes all this time… but then again I don’t go past 10 miles…
8:07 1 week my bike is dirty and I’m going snowboarding so i won’t clean it next week neither…. Oof
Is there a temperature that you consider too cold? My threshold temp is probably in the upper 50’s. Below that I’m on the treadmill.
Dont wear long socks…..only roadie nerds wear long socks…..and shorts dont need to be bib in summer….more flexible witbout.
Thanks to Team Ogilvy for putting this on. Just finished the second half of the original day’s sessions today. Thanks for uploading to YouTube because it also saves time to watch at 1.25X speed.
nooooo! roadbike tires on a mountain bike!!!! ride em fat bikes are better for you
Hey, I live in chicago too! Well more specifically the suburbs. I run cross country in high school and its been miserable here. Still running, keep up the training!
50 years ago when I started bike touring, there wasn’t much choice. I wore cut off jeans and a tee shirt. Worked for me.
One thing that is often overlooked is that cotton, regular old cotton, has the amazing ability to wick moisture and bleed off heat. If you are somewhere incredibly hot, it’s a great material to soak up perspiration and radiate heat away from you by evaporation. Of course if you need to stay warm or dry, then the old adage “cotton kills” is appropriate.
I choose baggys cause I’m just starting and I’m still T H I C C C
Hi, i live in the caribbean and ride over the hell of a sun in my city. i would like to know which clothe its better. Here we have lots of humidity, heat 365 day a year and sun burn my skin so i have marks in my arms… Please give some adv, thanks
Is it best to have a moderate stride in the cold so that you don’t increase body heat loss?
Tight clothes dont make you look great… yhey make you look like an asshole if you re muscular, and just plain gross if you are skinny or fat. They re uncomfortable too.
Not a big fan of the idea of second skin. For tops i wear my running clothes, which dries fast, for bottom i layers my bib with baggy.
Thanks for the TCA recommendation. Was looking for another pair of tights/trou6 for the winter and at £18.99 on Amazon UK it’s worth trying them out.
He really needs to do some squats and build some quad and butt muscles
4:10 Laurie Santos
(YALE)
The Happiness Lab.
5:50 Yeah, I was a residential advisor to my university – EVERY year, there was more than two or three that did the sleeping pills; and caused irreparable kidney damage…
In retrospect, had someone issued “THE RULES” it would have been a much better experience.
The first questions to ask are “How do I get graded at the end of my time”. As stupid as this sounds, its like sales; turning up and performing without knowing what the prospect is looking for is anxiety inducing and pissing in the wind. Lots of effort left to chance. Do not leave it to chance. Know the steps of evaluations and what is required to get you there. Read ahead, if you can.
Learn to dance or play a musical instrument before getting to university.
You should make it your business to understand the processes and mechanisms of the university. (One of those rules is, people like a good dancer, and people like someone who can bang out a tune on the guitar!)
Also, get into groups; and share resources. Ideally, “meal nights” where one person cooks for several; its more efficient – all that kind of thing. Dont spend too much time in the bar. Also, understand how you learn. Realise lectures are one of the least efficient ways of learning. Assume the lectures are the BARE minimal guides on what you ought to know. Go to the library, and watch the same lectures from different lecturers. Explain it to someone else; get in study groups. Have study groups have members swap in and out…or rotate.
BE SURE you know how you learn. If you are one of “THOSE” that breezed college with little or no actual effort – YOU are at risk. This strategy will not work at uni level. Realise you have limited cognitive capacity. Allocate accordingly. Doing so will actually free up cognitive ability! (less worry, less anxiety, “time Affluence”)
And I cant tell you how many parents had concerns about their semi adult offspring being able to cook. And many enquiries from students about “when does the lady who does the cleaning and cooking show up”. Its seems expectations are wide of the mark a lot of the time.
I imagine, nowadays, with skype, FB and internet, its a much easier experience.
Also, find a mentor… someone to guide you through it all. There are vastly wide differences in peoples attending university. Some are from the back-and-beyond. Some are street-wise city hustlers. Some are radical activists, others devout religious believers.
Forget having arguments about God; (it always happens and is futile – no one under 30 knows what theyre talking about anyway!) AND some over 50 dont.
Join the debating society, no matter what! This is a critical skill!
BE ABSOLUTELY CLEAR on why you are there. Is it the lifestyle? The campus life, or to get the tickets, or pursue research OR develop life-long relationships. Drugs… hmm.. my advice would be to lean away; but, again, for some, they did well. The trouble is, at such a young age, its unlikely you will know why you are really there. I mean, sure, to be a lawyer or doctor, (or cos Mum did, or older brother went,) or whatever… but – thats a schoolkid fantasy. WHY… WHY…WHY… To this, keep in mind your exit strategy. I knew one guy, who developed fantastic relations with 100 people at his university. When he needed seed money for his start up – 100 people supported with amounts from £100 to £1000…
Take up a hobby while there; something unrelated to core study.
AND KEEP YOUR SLEEP in check. This is perhaps hugely under estimated. You need your sleep.
Relationships; it sounds self serving, but a bad break up, and at a young age, can distract you for two or three weeks; And that can be enough to never get caught up.
Anyway:
TOP INSIGHTS:
10:30 #1 Your mind lies to you about what will make you happy.
Money: yeah, to a point, but this was quickly conflated with well being – is that the same as “happiness”?
It does seem a mistake to SEEK out material good to feed happiness, rather than the material goods being a consequence of doing things…
Its like a pursuit of “signifiers”; we think being rich would make us happy, and rich people have nice thing, therefore, thats what we need to do… we buy the tokens, and not the thing itself. Of course, this is the mistake; the thing itself, can not be bought.
13:21 #2 Make time for making social connections (as advised above ^^ Join debating society, or clubs unrelated to core pursuit (at Uni) – the key to this is, if you dont like the people you can join another group to get a people fit; if you only join core-activity and dont like people, it makes it all a misery. BUT if you join a group you like being in, it make any core-purpose-group tolerable in the case its people you dont get on with – but a plus-plus if you do)
Of course, there is the “other aspect” of this. I read, those of higher intelligence, tend not to socialise and dont enjoy trivial pursuits – and are generally less happy.
Connections! Wow! Insightful.
But also, again, take a moment to ask a high quality question, but one that isnt too threatening. Theres plenty of literature on this. Safe subjects: Food, Theatre, Dining out, Movies, Books, Holidays… and then can be eased into more personal topics like aspirations, goals, and current sticking points in life. LOW quality questions… “favourite color”, questions that have yes| no answers. Ive found it useful to keep in mind Batesons/Dilts model of mind. Environment → Behaviour → Capacity → Values & Beliefs → purpose. Walk people up and down this… What do you do… How do you do that – what prompted you to get started → how is that fulfilling… (and down) how has that changed you, what skills did you develop, and how has it moved you on in life. That kind of thing…
16:22 #3 Grateful.. Vagus Nerves and all that – personally, I just cant get to this one! But, I suppose I concede it seems to have effect.
SHARING gratitude… again, see the works of the late Marshal Rosenberg. We often say “thanks” is as putrid a way as we make requests of people (often demands disguised as requests) They key to expressing thanks, specifically, is to tell the person what they DID that had an effect on YOUR life and HOW. We often express “youre brilliant” but this is useless feedback. Its a judgement from one persons perspective. Its much more useful to all parties to say, “Wow, the way you took time to explain clearly to me, something, which I had been confused about for so long, has enabled me to see clearly errors I had made before. Now, ive stopped doing those, and my life has improved”. Much more specific and useful.
Yes, its embarrassing… but makes the world a better place. Deffo see Marshal Rosenbergs body of work.
18:30 # Reduce your mind-wandering and become present.
Yeah, and stop having “fantasy arguments” with yourself and phantom enemies.
On “savouring” ( 20:20) I mentioned in previous comments (9-12) that even anger can be “savoured”. Its an experience like any other – immerse in it… just dont use anger to decide on actions, but know its something to pay attention to!
Savouring is also a good way to get over sweets. Just put 5 or six spoonfuls of sugar in your mouth, or a mars bar, and dont swallow. “Savour it” you will soon realise the slimy texture and general unpleasantness that it actually is! You might even discover that you dont even like chocolates, but were actually attached to the IDEA of liking chocolates.
Personally, I didnt really find meditation beneficial… but thats me.. However, I can recommend “Mooji” here on YT.
21:50 #5 Become wealthy in time, not money. “Time Affluence”.
Interesting to note people in poverty dont seem to have this luxury of chasing the purse or chasing the time.
And to buck the trend, seems to me, in business, MONEY buys time. If you think about it, this is all business is really doing.
Yeah, cool!
24:00 Links…
Hi! Perfect! Just need a music more sweet like the lesson and you. Love
I’m extremely new to cycling, I usually run, but hope to buy my own bike once the shops open. I think I will be sticking my lululemon leggings (with pockets) and a loose tank top. No lycra for me haha
My dick isnt big enough for any sort of type clothing so thats a hard pass for me
On a bike with drop bars (which will be a fast rolling bike) tight lycra is a must. Over 14 mph it makes a huge aerodynamic difference. On a flat bar bike it’s personal preference but on a windy day you’ll know the difference. On a mountain bike I do baggy over lycra bike shorts. It’s just a better look in the forest and when I crash they don’t rip as easy.
I been waiting for this video! It’s just the beginning of November yet we already have snow and temps of -10C. I’ve been running on the treadmill but I hate it
Yes, let’s screw trails up by ridding in the mud. I guess you never get your ass out there and do trail maintenance. Repairing mud ridders damage.
Still waiting for winter out here in California. Ran the Ventura Marathon 3 weeks ago and had plenty of warmth and sunshine. Thanks for the quality videos @kofuzi
i think the best clothing is what you are comfortable with. comfort first, looks second:)
I just wear cut off daisy duke style jean shorts. I’m nice and cool, avoid the d-bag look of Lycra and still get to show off the goods.
The only way id wear Lycra is if i looked like superman. But i guess I’d be in a different sport by that point.
I am wearing lycra top only because of pockets. Lycra bottom kinda gay for me, especially with all this “No underwear“ things
Bike thefts a big problem in my town, a painful fact i’ve suffered personally(My 07 KHS is resting in pieces most likely by now). One funny consequence of this is it forced me to embrace proper riding atire. If I roll out in in my usual casual summer clothes (cut off jeans and a sleeveless t-shirt) on my carbon trek people look at me like I stole my own bike. I only came to appreciate how comfortable Lycra is because I was sick of the dirty looks of suspicion I was getting from not looking the part. Now if only someone would shame me into wearing a helmet I could be comfortable and safe.
My local Is Rogate however 8 am going to Australia to ride mtb like crazy in the blue mountains
What’s the difference between a trail centre and a bike park?? Or are they the same??
Lycra for sure! If you ever get a wasp up your baggies you’ll switch!
im injured right now so i cleaned my bike and put it in my room
is this gonna make me any better
lycra padded Assos on the bottom end, but I much prefer merino t-shirts on the top. Icebreaker have a super fit and never get sweaty or smell. I just can’t go near cotton now
I wear my smallest and tightest gym clothes that are still loose. I don’t wanna wear lycra because i also go on the beaches and explore on my rides
You get a like! I’d like to know you’re opinion of the Pegasus 36 Shield vs Pegasus 36 GTX (Gore-Tex) for running on the road during wet runs. There is very little on YouTube about the GTX for road running, only a bit for trails.
I have never tried lycra out before but the tight fitting shirt looks like a good idea. The pants however… I like to keep the size of my shlong more personal.
Hands are my weak point too, I sometimes wear a singlet with gloves! Mittens are best but so awkward. Looking for a good glove right now…And checking out the Craft mittens. A fantastic running tight is from Garneau, Very warm and has a bit more structure so you can wear them sans shorts over top:)
I need something for black ice. Thinking of IceBug shoes but afraid of those studs..
Is it that you tube’s algorithms do not show them to me or Cat has made almost no videos?
would you recommend a headlamp?
Also smart wool hats are worth the money
If you slide into the lake you must put that in a video.
Have you ever done that?
18:43 would suggest that wind boxers might be a better option for those really cold days. Helps a lot more than shorts in places a bit north of you (Ottawa), where the weather’s already been -25c/-13f + windchill. Great video.
Can you give a link to the jacket you’re wearing at 3:20? Looks mf clean
For mountain biking… lycra all the way. Long loose shorts are not only hot, they look ridiculous.
You should add a couple of women to the team of dudes at GMBN.
What about us women who have ‘curves’? Lycra is really not a good look……but clothing is quite limited.
Thought we were talking about trail sensors for at least a minute.
I ride in normal street clothing; short or long sleeve shirt depending on the weather chinos rather than shorts. But I don’t ride for speed, just for the enjoyment of getting out on my cycle…averaging about 150 miles a week at the moment. I don’t possess a single piece of lycra LOL and as I approach the age of 70, I’m not about to start.
I ride a mountain bike, and wear lycra padded shorts or bib shorts under lightweight cargo shorts, and a semi fitted, wicking t-shirt. And usually a back pack to carry my essential tools, tubes, eats and drinks.
I’ve only ever run as low as single digits Fahrenheit, so it would have to be below 0 for a balaclava. A headband ends up getting taken off when it’s in the upper teens. A hat is great for single digits/ wind, etc. Hands are more vulnerable. Depends more on the wind if you need handwarmers in your mittens. 30 F and up=shorts; below 30F = leggings. Below 20F is a warmer long sleeve than the mesh/thin layer (which I like Marino wool for). again, cold wind or wet weather may change your choice even more than temperature. I love winter running, but find many people overdress and end up up overheating.
I dress like MC Hammer to condition myself for strong headwinds.
Stop laughing; It makes you a much stronger cyclist!
Great advice Blake, I will be taking the nutrition section on board, beer and pizza, I love mtbing!
But if I don’t wear skin tight lycra with a load of fake sponsors on the clothing how will people know that I’m a serious cyclist?
And of course, there has to mum or the Mrs to wash the stink out of synthetic cloth.
I’ll go for the mullet, Lycra up top, baggies over the rear.
I want to wear more lycra.. I haven’t gotten around to fitting it into my budget yet. majority of the time, I’m in not-so-baggy baggies, lol. majority of my exercise clothing from other activities (yoga, etc.) is fitted

I have been to chicago a few times. Lovely city. But running must be a nightmare. The cold is a nightmare for me:) I hate it. I usually start sweating and get cold. IHence I go inside for the treadmill. Anyway a good video!
I’m gonna run my brake levers pointing to the sky for near vertical descents from now on
I just would be to embarrassed to wear lycra! Everyone I know just takes the piss our of men in lycra.
Every once and a while, I forget that Blake has hair since he is always wearing a helmet.
24:30 Rory summary…
On gratitude: extract: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DskpPwkE_yw
The trick, about empathy, is YOU have to go first!
Perhaps not so much a vote of approval for religion. DEFINITIONS! AGAIN!
RELIGIONS:
is a doctrine of ritual traditions, ceremonies, mythology, and the associated dogma of faith-based belief systems that all include the idea that some essence of “self” (be it a soul or consciousness, or memories, etc.) may in some way transcend the death of the physical body and continue on in some other form. This applies to every religion and only to religion.
So, religion has actually pinched a lot from other places and then pretended that it was its own all along. Give it 50 years, and the Pope will be claiming religion found the Higgs Boson.
Meditation, expressions of gratitude have likely been around since year dot. Same with eye patterns and and so on. Weve always done, its just that we only recently started codifying it.
“All the things that the ancients were telling us, were true.” OH FOR FUQ SAKE.
NO.
NO.
This is the premise of the “history” channel, though.
NOT ALL THE THINGS. (The “aether”, phrenology – disastrous and still having negative impacts, more recently, alchemy (ha ha!) vitalism, heliocentric universe, flat earth theory, though I think knowledge of its ballness goes back thousands of years, homeopathy – STILL AROUND, though more recent than “ancient” which is kinda nebulous)
Mincing of words; “religion” conflated with “cultural traditions”. Specifics!!
You can have cultural traditions and so on, but when a claim about the afterlife comes into it, then, it becomes a religion.
Its ALSO then, worth asking why atheists are under represented in prison populations.
It might also be worth looking at those heat maps again, of poverty, religion, and right wing (duck dynasty) as mentioned in previous comments. Hmm….
33:26 This $75,000 limit and happiness. I have a suspicion, and id be interested to know of further studies. It strikes me, the “average joe” doesnt actually know how to spend money. They dont know its value. We spend all our lives chasing it, keeping, and now, suddenly, were earning 100k per year. The difference to peoples lives that can be made with just a few thousand here and there (assuming that 25k over and above 75k is surplus can be ) gets a lot of gratitude!
Starting projects, community things, getting government fund to match, helping out struggling school kids…
And I wonder about philanthropy in general. Im still quite cynical about that.
34:00 YES! BUYING TIME… principally what business is.
34:20 Glad to hear “give it away”… kinda.
I mean “GIVE is perhaps the wrong way, but to BUY functions an facilities that make life wonderful for others. We’re so well trained in “GAIN”, we forget how to do “LOSS” (give-away) – so re-frame to transfer GAIN to someone else for mutual gain.
If your goal is to burn calories, then more resistance because of baggy clothes helps. No need to buy Lycra if your goal is to lose weight by cycling. Plus, it shows that you don’t take yourself too seriously and that is always a plus.
Thank you Blake! Nutrition is as critical as time in the seat!Improving eating habits and learning proper nutrition will ALWAYS be REWARDED with higher skill levels.FACT: no amount of exercise will negate a poor diet. MEANING, fun at the trail means less fun at the dinner table✌️
As usual, another great video. Thank you! How do you keep from slipping/injuring yourself on ice when running in the winter?
Tailor fit jogging trousers, a sleeveless vest, and a 100% cotton dress shirt with the cuffs on the second button.
What’s the diagnosis?
Hearing Blake say ‘Welcome back you beautiful people’ makes my day.
Bought a new pair of Nike Shield Swift pants. Very tapered. Pockets big time and drawstring on the outside which’s very smart.
When I was a teenager I cycled to school everyday for 6 years in a skirt!
Hands down, Blakes’ Intro is the best in Youtube:)
Newbie here, not even a year into riding and GMBN had quite an impact how fast I went into the MTB World.
Thank you guys for putting so much effort and passion for us bikers into useful and entertaining videos!
If i watch the news and they say you can get frostbite, i aint gonna go outside and run lol.
Cycling short and baggie t shirt. And i wear hip bag to store my pump, tools and food. Baggie t shirt much more comfortable for me.
Thanks for sharing, I ran last year at about 6 degree F out and my water bottle froze, I don’t know if I want to carry a soft flask under a layer or two or what. Also cold kills cell phone batteries. The 17 miles I ran felt like 20, the body has to work harder to stay warm. You definitely called out some gear i want to try, thanks.
My 2 man caves: my mini sound studio and the balcony. How sad living in a flat ^^
I used to get self conscience of Lyrca, but the longer I cycled and the hotter or wetter I got, it was just a, ‘F^&k it’ moment and I’ve stopped caring. I’m almost 40 and comfort is taking over. If I’m having a chilled ride with friends with lots of stops, I might wear the gravel shorts, but usually still in the lyrca up top. Plus it’s lighter and takes up less space… I thought I didn’t look like as cyclist until one day, I looked in the mirror 😉 Only in normal clothes when around the town or park with my toddler
I hurt myself running on snow, slush, and ice last year. I found my form on uneven snow/slush/ice was too compromised and left me more prone to injury. I stick to the treadmill now unless the ground is clear outside.
Does cycling in a pair of hunting breeks and a button up tattershall count as cycling kit? Pretty sure it did before they came up with lyrca lol
Great videos, could be a good idea to ad metrics use un Latin america, some times is kind of weird understand F, miles and make convertions.
How to pronounce words with Blake:
1) Here [pronounced hyere]
I’ve heard that we actually need more fluid intake during winter activities than we think. Do you think your buzzed feeling was a hydration issue?

41:30 Cybernetic Loops / Reflexive feedback
43:29 In a world where operational efficiency takes a back seat to value creation! Yeah, seems the focus on which, ebbs and flows in a reflexive feedback loop. But, this seems how business is done, expand (value creation) consolidate (efficiency), then expand… and in concert with all the millions of other business.

“Sharing, Scrolling, talking, bring people together” not really. I ve noticed dumping and axing many “friends” who it turns out, are obnoxious right wing fascists who are anti-vax, and comparing the lock down to the persecution of the Jews during WW2. A filthy comparison in all respects. Turns out, some of them were harbouring ethno-state ideology too. SO, I can only speak personally, ive cut off over half of “friends”. Ive noticed a lot of chatter around these subjects where propaganda is being pushed and “useful idiots” are mindlessly repeating the dogwhistles (lexemes) without knowing… THIS is exactly what is being described here. SOPHISTICATED marketers are using dogwhistles (visual and sonic cues) (“Looks right, sounds about right”) and so appeal to the virtue ethics embedded within their zeitgeist of cultural acceptance. (I.e “Brexit” and stop the immigrants taking OUR jobs. This is a classic case. Trumpfs wall; “SEND THEM BACK”)

51:05 AND YET AGAIN, misuse of the word “THEORY”… for a domain that is claiming to be scientific, it sure doesnt understand what a THEORY is. NO!!! You had an IDEA, that you formed into a HYPOTHESIS, which you went to test. GRRR…
Yeah, “data” compression in vocab certainly seems to be at play. Its been well known that the fingers and thumbs are the bottle neck in all this. (Ive dreamed elsewhere for an interface that lets me communicate in concepts, rather than letters or glyphs)
I love the language contractions: NazBols, Simps, SJW, Grifter, Boomer, Doomer, Zoomer, FML, FFL, NSFL. Ah, its a whole subculture, and what iv found fascinating, is these abbreviations also convey compact life experiences, memes in of themselves; and that so many others feel the say way is necessary that the meme survived. Interesting.

Empathy, Earnestness, Empowerment. Sounds similar as to what was written 2,000 years ago in Rhetorica Ad Herennium (W.A.R: Well Disposed (empathy), Attentive (Earnest), Receptive (empowered)) Seems there is little NEW under the sun…
55:50 Personally, I really dislike the nudge “its time”… it always struck like “because reason”.
“Lucking Out”… yeah. Theres a lot of that involved.
I think winter has arrived earlier everywhere this year. I live in the Uk normally it’s very wet but still relatively mild. This year is definitely colder. .
How do you record your runs? As I your camera is always ahead of you while running.
It is obvious that cyclists propel themselves mainly using their legs but why is it that most cyclists have enormously thin arms?
It’s cooling off down here in Florida, I woke up to 64 degrees…brrrrr! it takes discipline to run up North!
These are very helpful and I will be sure to use these today when riding and building. Have you got any tips on how to build a beginner jump
DON’T WEAR COTTON, it wears you down since it soaks up like a sponge. Makes you sticky, uncomfortable, and makes you heat up rather than cool down.
Lycra wear has also saved me from considerable road rash from a fall as it tends to take the brute of the abrasion.
I don’t recommend waterproof anything while running In winter you want water away from you skin o you will freeze you toes
What about tips for young people? At the age of something like 13 and above?
Was 19 degrees F. for my run this morning. Layers is definitely key. Balaclava I use is Nike. It seems to work good unless you wear glasses. Then you’re just going to fog up your lenses. Salomon and Nathan both have some good gloves out for different temperatures. I top it all off with a Salomon Bonattie pro jacket. I picked up the clear swimming goggles for when it’s not too bright. The wind and freezing Temps on your eyes really suck! Also, Nathan has a really nice thick hat out right now for night time running. It works really well at keeping in that heat and adds visibility for drivers. I usually run with my Salomon skin 12 vest just in case I need to take a layer off and for hydration. Winter running requires plenty of hydration and nutrition. So I usually bring a extra gel and some salt. Hopefully I won’t have to pull out the trail shoes for the ice. I hate the cold, but I hate running on treadmills more. Just make sure to get out of those clothes as soon as possible when you get home.
Unfortunately, we do not have a pump track, dedicated trail, or any race in our city
So many tips and still dont know how you guys get the bike balanced on that stick for those perfect pics xD
Great video.. odered a pair of tca pants! Price to go to not try them.
Our winters are nowhere near as bad as yours but it’s snowing here in the valleys in South Wales UK at the moment
Did you skip the base layer top? Any recommendations for the tech layers under the jacket?
Tons of respect, I do not run in winter anymore. Specially living in Chicago. I just use the the spring/summer/fall month for training and racing
Here in Colorado you might as well wear cotton: everything dries instantly due to rushing through very dry air with the sun barreling down.
But then you loose the handy pockets.
Why I get feeling that this MTB thing is for elite only, not for normal poor people. Pick some random nub with her <500£ "MTB" bike and train her a better biker with almost zero budget. Film it and make it a miniseries.
Is Katherine using Hank’s orbea orca aero or is that hers cuz I know hank has the exact same bike
I would say buy yourself a dirtjump bike and progress all your basic skills with it! I started with manuals and bunnyhops and I can now manual 5-10 secs, bunnyhop much higher and with better control and style. Also doing some pumptracks and soon will try jumps. Do not forget to buy one that fits your size! I made a mistake 3 years ago buying an uni size (unfortunatelly most brands do only universal size) and was unable to do any technical stuff, it was so tiny form me. Now with my new L size Commencal Absolut with reach 440 mm I am more than happy:)
Great content gents. These are all things that we all neglect from time to time and it’s good to be reminded every once in a while.
I’m in Minnesota, so I’ll just say enjoy that affiliate link kickback!
They have a large selection of every type of cycling video you can think of although I still haven’t seen one about how to pull over for a quick urinate with cycling Lycra.
If the whole world can’t see your genitals, you’re doing it right.
Get a pair of shorts and quit dressing up in spandex like a professional wrestler.
A gaming room X bike garage is not just man cave, it’s legends’ cave
Well where I live I guess they don’t support pump tracks. Because we have none.
I prefer wearing cycling jerseys as I sweat more than a normal person. Even in a slow motion walking I sweat a lot. While my jersey on it is like I don’t sweat at all. Of course I sweat but it evaporates and I don’t get wet.
Surely the best fitness practice for a mountain biker is just following someone faster than you?
Kinda funny to watch this video and hear Blake sugesting to stay fit. To me the fitness is the least of the worries because I am a xc racer (16 y o)and fitness is my strong side but my tehnique is very bad compared to others, so I´m losing time in technical situations but faster than anybody else in places where you need strenght like sprints, straights and climbs. Specially on climbs, oh how I love climbs! But yeah mostly looking for things that can help my tehnique. Ps I live in Estonia where´s almost no mountains where to practise my riding and my home trails are also very flat. So sorry if there´s some mistakes in this text.
Was that the new Five-Ten welly’s I saw? Wow when can I get a pair?
Lycra tight fitting.
Feels snug and wicks away sweat. Feels faster too.
Don’t care what everyone else is wearing as long as they are happy.
Love the channel. Keep up the good work. It would mean the world to me if you could shout me out
