Still have questions about finding the perfect pair of running sunglasses? Let us know in the comment section below!
Bro so unsure, but I need some mtb sunglasses thinking the flack 2.0 with torch prizm.
I just purchased a custom pair of Knockaround sunglasses and reviewed them on my channel. I’d love to get your opinion! I just subscribed… Keep posting!
Took your advice Fordy, bought a pair of Goodr.. amazing, no slip no fogging and so light. love them
Definitely recommend the flip belt. I also have better luck taking 2 or 3 of their smaller 6oz water bottles than that big 10oz one as they are easier to get in and out while running.
I find flip belt to be really annoying when running. I recently got a naked band and its a game changer. I can put SO MUCH in it and it is so easy to get things in and out.
Do you wash your hat after every run? Any durable machine washable hats?

Latest Offers on Goodr Sunglasses: https://amzn.to/2XnEgDC
Ever thought about merino wool running clothes? I love my stuff from icebreaker, wicks sweat away quickly, keeps me cool, and doesn’t stink alot so you dont need to wash it often.
haven’t seen any video about the lugplate… you could bring them!
Dermatology advice here, don’t worry about SPF with sunscreen, just make sure it has Zinc in it, I’d recommend Blue Lizzard
+1 on the Nike Aeroswift tank. $70 but THE BEST tank I’ve ever had…
One thing I know for sure is the SportRx crew is here for you…O Matter what!
I also wear black or navy to avoid the pee look. I have some split shorts that I’ve cut the liner out of that I wear over my half tights. Michael, you’ve given me some of the beat advice on apparel. Thanks. Road Runner needs to give you a cut of the profits on those shorts. I love the brooks sherpa hat, it’s my favorite. I just got some Siroko sunnies for cheap and they were great on my run today. I’m with you on the running vest for long runs. Thanks for the reccommendations for the sunscreen. Stache is looking sweet. Rock on
running in AZ it will be mid 80s at 6 am so you sweat a lot. Something I can’r recommend enough is putting Vaseline on your eyebrows. keeps the sweat off your eyes and its great if you use contacts.
Come on over team #shortshorts! My summer running essentials = Darn Tough Vertex Ultra-Light socks + Rabbit Best in Show 2″ split shorts + no shirt + Halo headband + prescription sunglasses.
I love flipbelt.. been using them for 3 years.. now it getting loose in my waist (either the belt not elastic anymore, or my waist line is shrinking, or both ) as a replacement i just bought compressport pro running belt and i love it.. it has thinner material and snug (not too elastic, so correct size matters when buying it).. and for sock, i love toesocks fron injinji.. besides that running in hot climate all year round, sport sunblock, goodr and a cap is a must..
been taking 2 dill pickles and put them in a plastic bag. chasing with a cheap Clif gel.. ‘$4 maurten’ acheived lol
The Gibston are hands down the best shades Oakley has ever made.
The thing I find most irritating running in the hotter months is sweat rolling down your forehead and into your eyes until they burn. The most effective solution I found is to wear a Halo head band. Unlike other headbands, Halo has a groove stitched inside which acts as gutter which catches the sweat before it rolls down further. However its not perfect, so I also use a 5 or 6 inch wide wrist sweat band on one arm to wipe the sweat out of my eyes instead of using my hands. Much safer in the pandemic times we live in.
My dermatologist confirmed that non-nano zinc is still the most effective and safest sunscreen. The jury is out on many of the chemicals in most sunscreens. I really like “Thinksport” SPF 50. It dries non-greasy and quite transparent if you spread it around for a few seconds. Lots of places carry little travel size zinc sticks that go on pretty dry and are really compact—Trader Joe’s has an SPF 50 one; Badger makes one and I’ve collected several other brands for both on the run and to keep in my purse everyday.
Have you seen the freetrain vests? I’ve got a huge phone so need something to carry it.
Oakley is dead, fuck luxottica, lets go to other brand…willeyx for example
Agree on the Adidas tank! They’re so light. They occasionally pop up in the clearance section of Running Warehouse.
Don’t waste your money on Oakley’s. They’re cheap material, WAY overpriced, and they aligned themselves with a company (Luxottica) that’s in the business of putting the little guy out of business, and part of a MAJOR monopoly scheme. If you want quality, buy from manufacture that actually has the customer’s best interest in mind, and they’re a lot cheaper in terms of price. In addition to that, they AND you support small business. Beyond that, don’t waste your money on a company that’s aligned itself with company that’s been part of shady business for the past 2-3 decades.
Greetings from Lahore, I was hoping for some tips for running in 113*F (46*C) that we have here these days:)
How many of these are “Made in the USA”, or should I say “USA Made”? I used to be a big Oakley supporter back in the day but refuse to pay a premium price for the lower quality product they make now. There are some aftermarket lenses available that have similar quality with more features, like a scratch-resistant coating and AR coating at a much better price point. Just saying.
Will the Portal or Portal X get replacement lenses at some point couldn’t find them on the website
What about interchangeable lenses eg prescription lenses with normal lenses.
Dude, how is it going? I haven’t been in your channel in a while. You look different. Are you planning of getting into triathlon?
hi thanx for the video. i want to ask is there any glasses you can use for cellphone or computer screens?
I actual dont like the goodr they irritated sides of my nose. Definitely going to buy them other ones for cycling especially
Can I have the RX capability with prizm technology if I have 6 on prescription?
spf is “sun protection factor”, and the number is a multiple of natural uv protection (spf 50 is 50 times your skin’s natural ability to absorb & reflect uv). reapplication time is based on what kind of uv blocker is used (quite a few degrade after an hour or so). I’m personally a fan of the ombrelle stuff, but I’m not sure if it’s still illegal/non-us apporoved.
It’s a shame lobbying in the US has kept sunscreen 10 years behind the rest of the world. Stock up if you go overseas, look for modern ingredients like tinosorb a2b (or just buy Japanese/ Korean products)
The Janji shorts look a lot like the aeroswift shorts. Are there any big differences? As a student I get 20% off at Nike so there’s only a $6 difference between the two pairs and I feel like I’d rather go with the Nikes just because I’ve worn them before. Any reasons Janji shorts are better?
I’m looking for sunglasses which is best Oakley sunglasses for hiking and the same time lifestyle.
Also in terms of the colours to hide the sweat signs: there are many more options available e.g. white (most of my tops are white), orange, lime yellow/sky blue mesh etc:)
Unobtainium is $#!t. Glasses slide down the moment I start sweating.
I am absolutely enjoying adidas speed tank top: it looks the same as the others but feels much lighter and thinner! I have recently bought 5 tops to try including nike techpack with holes and liked adidas and mizuno core vest the most.
I’m surprised the Janji tank top didn’t make it to your list. I found them to be the only ones that doesn’t cause chaffing without the need of bodyglide. Great list otherwise!
sunscreen is the most important. I could go out at 530 before the sun is up and still use a ton lol. Great vid
Which hard case will fit the Oakley Portal? I’ve emailed their customer support, but a week later and still waiting…
Great video Fordy! I’m Getting back in to running this week
I have those stance socks they are great and last had the same pair for 2 years.
I’ve got an aeroswift singlet because our team had to get singlets for a race out of state that aren’t school issued. So we went all out it’s a lifesaver when it’s hot out
Interested in the transitions drivewear with an Rx for reading as a daily wear (driving, fishing, jogging and hiking). I have a red/green color vision deficiency and these seem to make colors really vibrant. What are your thoughts about the drivewear for daily use? How do they look in doors? Thanks in advance!
Great video. I have an older iPhone and use a wired cord. is the flip belt able to have the cord coming out while keeping the phone safe?
I’n Florida you need bug spray on most trails in the summer i don’t know about other places
Love my Goodr sunglasses. Can’t believe they are so cheap! Good vid again Fordy.
Despite of the fact that I am an optician at the moment, I am gonna buy sunglasses from you
I bought a pair last year on your recommendation, cannot fault them, absolutely brilliant
A bit off season but we’re coming into winter here in Australia and I was wondering if you can recommend any jackets? I’m looking at this one from Nike and was wondering if you had any experience in them:
https://www.nike.com/au/t/shield-flash-running-jacket-2btbSC/BV5615-010
I’m currently running in these fleece jacket:
https://www.macpac.com.au/mens/tops/pullovers-hoodies/macpac-tui-polartec-micro-fleece-pullover-%E2%80%94-mens/114347.html?cgid=mens-tops-pullovers_hoodies#start=1
I like this because it’s warm and has a front top chest pocket where my phone can go into and is quite a snug fit so it doesn’t bounce around everywhere.
I’ve got a pair of the orange (donkey goggles) from Goodr, I’ll probably get the pink flamingos ones when they come back in stock x
Still have a few questions about which lenses will be best for your run? Let us know down below!
7″ shorts for cooler weather/long runs, 5″ shorts for hot weather, and 3″split for race day only.
For hats, I like the Patagonia Duckbill Trucker (and regular Duckbill), but Headsweats Trucker is most purely run-focused trucker hat I have tried. It is definitely a brand worth checking out.
What’s your favorite Oakley of the year? Did we miss one? Let us know in the comments below!
I’m more particular with tees vs tanks. I absolutely hate the Nike Miler, I just don’t like how stiff it is and not really well ventilated vs other more porous type tops.
Gotta try the 2020 Nike tech tank, the holes on the back screams venitaltion!
Glad to see you’re digging the Escalantes. I like the Roadrunner shorts, need to give their tops a try. Thanks!
Hi have you looked at Castore.com. They do some premium running clothing, I’ve got several pairs of shorts and a race day tank. It’s expensive but super light and moves the sweat away quickly. Really like them but it’s not cheap. ♂️
I love my Goodr sunglasses. I have a few pairs and I did find the first pair bounced (I still haven’t figured out why). I also like Maui Jim (but they are pricey)
I love mine! The only thing is I still sweat so much I end up taking them off a few miles into my run
What type of compression briefs do you wear with your 5” shorts?
Hi, What’s the ideal prescription Oakley frame model for running? Thanks!
I wear 100% merino long-sleeve shirts, they keep you cooler than being topless or synthetic shirts. They also protect from uv light. Only downside is their price but highly recommended.
Curious if you’ve ever considered using/reviewing Salomon’s Agile 2 Hydration Vest for long runs in hot/humid weather? I’ve considered it, as I tend to heavily perspire and always in need of more fluids…. thanks Michael!
Call it RayBan,sure looks like 1 ugly remake.gone are the days of unique design and are all made in China.
Hey Kofuzi, what’s your opinion on shoes like the Saucony Type A9 or Nike Zoom Streak LT 4 as a 1 mile to 10k race shoe? Are they obsolete with newer carbon plate shoes? Or even something like a Kinvara? Does the barebones racing flat still have a place in a rotation now?
What’s your opinion about buff coolnet uv+ for running in high heat?Thank you
I indend to buy And run with that around my neck for sun protection
Still use my Pro M Frames from 2002. Wish theyd sell parts for that old model. Best sport shades EVER.
I just wear my soccer jerseys since I have a ton of them. That flip belt, and the water bottle seems like a great idea though.
I love Goodr. They don’t last too long but for the cost they’re fantastic.
Squirrels Nut Butter is much more of a thing when it gets hot.
@sportRx what are the prescription lenses that this guys is using? i think they are rayban????
Thanks for the list this gives me a lot to go on for shopping for Fathers Day and my husbands upcoming birthday….
Yes mate sunglasses are a must this time of year, also they keep the flies out.
I am in Fl. Essentials are: sunscreen, flip belt and water bottle, hat or visit, sports bra and shorts, and salt tablets.
whats the gopro feature that deletes the selfie pole from the footage?
7 inch short.., big fan.., I have never tried a half tight. good looking out on augusta.., might give them a try. ciele is legit.., I have one, want to grab another one.. might try path though as well
I bought that FlipBelt water bottle after you mentioned it on another video and have really enjoyed using it. I hate having water bottles on the hand, even if they have a strap, and with the drinking fountains all closed indefinitely in my city due to Covid, I needed something for longer/hotter runs. I agree it’s kind of a pain to get in and out of the belt, but I just take 30 seconds or so to walk briefly to take a couple sips and get the water in and out. Not having to carry it and not feeling it on my waist is worth the trouble! I also fill it up about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way and freeze at night, then fill the rest in the morning. Keeps it cooler a bit longer.
These frames cost around $6 US to manufacture. Oakley is screwing consumers. Any polycarbonate lens provides full UV protection, even $20 sunwear.
Which Oakley lab (location) does most of their prescription lenses for SportRx?
What do you think of a good time for you and I hope to you get there early and get a little more water swimming and pool deck and pool and then swim pool and swim swim tomorrow night and then we can swim pool and then swim pool and pool deck and pool and then swim pool and pool deck and then swim pool and then we can do a swim swim tomorrow morning and then swim pool and then we go to the swim camp and swim swim tomorrow night and then we can do a time together for a while and swim pool pool deck pool and swim swim
Use Enchroma CX3 lens. You will get the ultimate contrast enhancement!
I collecting Oakley’s since 1995 and mostly the pre luxottica ones, couse those was STILL made in USA and the real deals in my opinion..Only the a ‘X metal Squared” was cool after the Italian giant take over….The rest is Only designed” in the US..
It’s like you read my mind!!! I was looking at getting some running sunglasses thanks for a great video!
timely video! i need to upgrade my sunglasses for the summer
when are customs gonna go on sale again? not paying $263 for a pair
Thank you for the great video, I ordered the RR half tights last year and my sis in law brought them to Germany for me and they are GREAT! Can you please also tell me how the Janji 5″ shorts fit in the waist, a little loose, a little tight or?
Thanks again Mike!
I need some help @sportRx
Now i use dispatch 2 and i want to buy new sunglasses so what model of Oakley similar dispatch 2
Thank you
Moonshine sunglasses are also a great option for running. I’ve a couple of pairs and they’re brilliant, no bouncing, light and really comfy.
Love it, I would also like to see longsleeve shirts to protect you from the sun but breedable enough for Florida weather
Just bought some more Goodr sunglasses (you can never have enough, right ). The have a fantastic discount at the moment.
