I struggle with emotional eating during the best of times, so this video really hit home. I’m trying to shift my eating habits so that I’m primarily eating when physically hungry, not emotionally hungry. And if I absolutely feel the need to eat through emotions, I try to make homemade food instead of eating something “easy and premade” that is not as emotionally satisfying. I’ve noticed that in the past, I got the most comfort from grandma’s cooking, and I really do enjoy making mouthwatering food for myself and others. I just wish I could share some of my creations with others right now without the fear of spreading potential germs.
React to Eddie ‘The Beast’ Hall’s old strongman diet, please! It would be awesome to hear your opinion!!
Thumb up so she can see this!
I thought I was the only one struggling with that please share your experience on how you got your period back
Personally, I would prefer the usual content. I’m so surrounded by covid talk right now it would be really nice to be able to unplug at least somewhere
I eat less when I’m at home. I hate being here because when I have a schedule and I go to school I get enough food and I eat daily. When I’m at home I normally have one meal a day as normal because I’m really listless. I end up not being able to eat. It’s the same with every other essential atm. sigh
“nobody is immune to the effects of social isolation”
me an introvert: wanna bet?
I would like something uplifting and fun. Like lollipop-recipes
I figured out why she has been losing weight so much, it is because she eats a tiny bit less than 1,500 calories which if u eat that much a day u lose about a pound per week hence her weight loss.
thanks to gyms being closed im skinny fat again, İ keep restricting and then binging and İ just don’t know what to do anymore. İ’m so done with food.
I’m just now seeing this video but I appreciate it. I’ve been self-isolating for 3 months now and don’t see the end in sight. I’ve been gaining weight and struggling with eating too many snacks and not knowing how to exercise without the gym. I recently noticed I weigh more than I ever have before when my doctor recommended that I lose weight. I’ve been working on some things to do to change and this was really helpful in getting a plan for myself. Thank you!
Is anyone going to talk about emotionally NOT eating? Liking eating less? Is anyone else struggling with that? I feel alone:(
So I work from home and always struggle with eating out of boredom or procrastination. I thought this was just a ‘me’ thing some deep issue I’d need therapy to unpack and address until everyone started self isolating, and suddenly everyone I know is struggling with the same thing. Can you talk about how eating habits change when we work from home and what we can do to eat more like we would if we were in a normal office environment?
This time can be so difficult with an unhealthy relationship around food.
Thank you Abby. I’m a french suscriber, and France should get out of lockdown next week, but I’ve been back to the office yesterday like many governement employees, to prepare for the rest of the country.
I was ok during the lockdown, because I practiced social media distanciation as well, but at the office yesterday, everybody’s conversation topic was weight gain, food, alcohol, workout routine, and the « summer body » thing adds up to all of this. I’m still struggling with binge eating and restriction and we french people love our food talk, but it is getting worse. I had a little binging episode yesterday, I should have watched your video before:-/
I’m home alone all day during quarentine, i’ve been doing pretty well but today i found myself emotional eating and then I felt guilty about it
I went straight back to binge eating and suffer greatly. I look in the mirror and see an image I never thought I would see again. I can’t fit into my pants. It’s making me feel terrible and so disappointed. I was doing great and just got to where I fought so long for. It’s really hard as I’m by myself without family even in the same country and friends not around either. I’m doing all the meditation, walks, yoga, working out. It doesn’t work, my illness is just stronger.
To everyone who is hurting, I hug you. Xxx
You are putting out some really good videos for the pandemic that I am just not seeing a lot of in my feed. Thank you this really helped me.
More videos like this! I’m personally really struggling to not stress-eat. Working from home is exacerbating this long standing issue of mine.
I am a former bulimic and this quarentine has me fucked up. Not been restricting or bingeing but all these negative thoughts are coming back again, feeling fat, scared that I will gain weight, this need to over excercise. I want this all to end.
as someone without any disordered eating patterns in the past, I feel as though they’re rapidly forming due to not being able to work out. I was extremely active in the gym and didn’t hesitate to pick up some at home workouts immediately since this whole thing started. not the samebut decent! until I hurt myself (lol) now I’ve been completely obsessed with food and doing light yoga videos just make me want to give up altogether.. did not see this one coming!
I wanted to thank you for making this video. It helped me identify where my discomfort was coming from and how I can rationally answer to these catastrophic thoughts. I was going to start seeking therapy right before the shelter at home order and of course, that didn’t happen. So just to say that your words brought me a lot of answers and comfort and I think that’s pretty amazing given the fact that you do not know me at all. You said exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
So this is kinda related to everything happening with COVID19 but I’ve noticed a ton of people starting up with MLMs like Herbalife, Arbonne and other companies that sell nutrition products that are super sketchy. I think MLMs are already super problematic because of the way they financially ruin people but I’m also wondering how many people are buying into the nutritional aspect of things and potentially paying a lot for products that are not good and could potentially be dangerous with the diet mindset and the fear of the “covid 15” going on.
Thank you sooooo so much for this video. I have been feeling stressed about my use of all-purpose flour over whole wheat flour simply because of what is available in stores. And then I feel guilty that I’m even feeling bad about this privilege I have to even have the choice of food.
I don’t know… I’m trying to remember that this is a temporary time and that I’m not held down to a specific way of eating for the rest of my life just because of this time.
Hey Abbey, are you taking your kid on your daily walks with you? Maybe you could make a video on how to keep kids active/exercising during this time, just a suggestion . I’ve tried taking my 3yo daughter for walks with me but she wants to touch everything (which is normal) but it makes me nervous and ends up being more stressful than relaxing Of course I could just put her in the stroller but then she wouldn’t be doing any exercise. We live in an apartment so it’s been challenging. Thanks for your content!
Hey Abby! Would love to see a review of the “Noom” app. I have a friend who has downloaded the app and I’m curious about your take on it as a weight loss tool. Thoughts?
Thank you so much this has been extremely helpful!! I have never gone to therapy for binge eating but I sometimes find myself in that situation and this quarentine has been specially hard. This video made me a lot more minful of how my feelings relate to food and how I can try to listen to myself a lot more. I am from Mexico so we have a lot of snacks and junk food in our markets but I feel also very lucky to have so much biodiversity to try very delicious, natural and healthy foods like a huge variety of fruits and vegetables. Ever since I found your channel I have become a lot more mindful about food and how it relates to health and mental health, I have learned to forgive myself and love myself through nourishing my body. Thank you:)
I’d go days without eating as a kid because my mum had issues with drugs. Not here now obviously. I still have weird quirks like hiding food:/ this has definitely triggered me so that woman is right about bring up not having enough food. That is how my eating disorder started. I was all good til this stupid virus
I am REALLY struggling. I lost my job (it was my dream job that I was quickly advancing in) and I’m probably going to have to take a job I really do not want out of desperation. I’m quarantined in an overcrowded house where not everyone gets along and I’m just under a lot of stress. This is really triggering for me as someone who struggles with restriction because it’s so tempting to use restriction and food obsession as a coping mechanism.
closing my eyes helps me to chew food
more through and concentrate on taste and texture. i cant eat so slow tho.:)
I have been eating at or below my BMR bc I am classifying my activity level as “less than sedentary” even though I am going for walks. I can’t shake the idea that I don’t need to eat if I am not moving as much as normal
At the beginning of this, I didn’t eat much because I felt like I didn’t need it and wanted to make sure my family would have enough to eat and I didn’t deserve it. Now I’m eating way more, like snacking a lot and my mom keeps commenting on how much I’m eating and it makes me feel so bad about eating. I don’t think it’s bad especially since I’m 16 and 95 lbs but it’s just been annoying and I really don’t like her commenting all the time about the amount of food I’m eating. To me it feels fine.
Any advice for someone who runs about 30 40 miles a week and is 5 ft 4 in terms of calories? I always see you talk about that at the end of videos and am very curious.
Will you do a review of Emily Sarah’s what I eat in a day video??
idk if you eat fish, but bananas aren’t vegetarian! they have shell fish coating on the peel
I’m a hurricane of emotions at the moment so I appreciate seeing a good mix of informative relevant covid content and your usual what I eat in a day reviews. It’s very grounding to see that my favorite youtubers are still posting content at their normal times when just about nothing else in my life looks normal. So thank you! I appreciate you! ❤️
Don’t forget, sleeping is critical too! We created our channel to help relieve stress during the day and to help with sleeping at night. Take care!
Great video, I watched all. I have PCOS and it doesn’t help me much right now. But accepting that what I eat isn’t quite healthy is really important for me.
Thank you so much for this video! I’d love to see a what I eat in a day in quarantine. Or Maybe you could Show us some of the new recipes you tried out… For me personally, it would be great to not watch yet another covid-19 Video, so I’d be really happy with the usual content:)
Thank you so much for this video. I grew up in poverty and I’ve struggled with disordered eating since I was young. The fear of scarcity is real even after doing years of work with my therapist. I feel like I’m doing okay so far but it still helped so much to hear some reassurance around this topic.
You know how many times I wanted to Google this exact topic in the past week and I was internally like ‘thats insane, no one has advice for this super specific thing’ and then out of nowhere here’s your video. Thank you! Not only have my disorderd thoughts been through the roof but it’s happening so profoundly this is the worst my mental health has been in some time. I needed this information.
I’m a slow eater too..my siblings make fun of me for it alll the time and it so annoying! It makes me insecure and makes me not want to eat:/
I’m relapsing into severe restriction and only eating once a day because of isolation and exams being cancelled (they were very motivating to stay well). It literally put me in the hospital 4 months ago and I said ‘never again’ but ig it wasn’t enough
Hi Abbey, love the video! Would love to see a video about powders/supplements. I want to get some green superfood powder and other powders to add to smoothies and I don’t know which to get and if they are even beneficial. Would love to hear your thoughts!
I don’t get it — both of the dieticians are really overweight what kind of advice can they give?
I struggle the most with cravings and hunger at night. I crave dessert almost every night, even though I’ll eat a good sized dinner. I don’t eat as much during the day but I still do have smaller meals. I really worry about food more than I should. I miss the gym. I’ve been doing at home workouts and it gets a little triggering for me being stuck home.:/
Okay. Yes, you’re right, you don’t need as much calories as other people. I do know how annoying it is because i’m 5’0 myself, lol. Anyway, you’re
veryUNDERWEIGHT.. 16.8 BMI, while you should have atleast 18.5 to be healthy. While your arguement that you don’t need as much food as the ‘average’ person is true, the fact that you were hungry half of the day tells us that you’re not eating enough. So no.. your body is not ‘naturally’ this weight.. your body wanted more food…There are still a lot of therapists and outpatient programs going remote! I know my place of work, The Anxiety Institute (which works with adolescents who have anxiety) is still available and offering Zoom sessions for those struggling.
I am commenting this on your most recent video in the hopes that you will see it, even though the content of this specific video doesn’t necessarily relate to what I am saying. I believe that the entire concept of your channel is extremely counter productiveyou act as if everyone should be eating intuitively, not being strict with themselves when it comes to food, being forgiving/nonjudgemental with themselves, and not obsessing over food. However, literally every video you post is you critiquing or praising people’s diets that you really don’t know at all… for clout… It is honestly unethical and spreading the wrong message. As a dietician (a professional), you should really be more aware about what you are doing/saying and why. You are EXPLOITING a concept that you don’t really follow to critique other people’s diets, which actually contributes to a culture of food obsession and “rights” and “wrongs” when it comes to food and individual dietsa concept that you claim you are against. You come across as pretentious in your narrow view of the mental aspect of disordered eating. Please consider my comments.
Damn glad to know I’m not alone. I weighed myself the other day and saw that I’d gained 5 kgs. Which kind of freaked me out, but now I’m eating more healthy and exercising most days:)
✨ The proximity to food all the time is so real right now Abbey! I feel this so much ❤️thank you for this video ✨
Honestly, this is the best time to look within, spot those emotional and dependant attitudes that plague us.
They can seem to be unseen when things are going well.
Just some food for thought.
I lost my work as soon as this crap hit the fan, my alcohol consumption quadrupled, simply out of boredom and factors that hadn’t been sorted over the prior two years of hell I endured.
Something I had under control, apparently?
I’m seriously trying to understand how I havent gained 70 lbs. I smoke cigs though
Since I have a lot of free time I was going to start a kitchen garden. I took a lot of inspiration from Medieval and Renaissance gardens and cookbooks. I want to include more “weed” or “herb” plants like borage because their growing requirements make them easy to grow. The problem is after I did a little bit of research I found the plant can contain pyrrolizidine alkaloids or PAs which is bad for your liver. Plants like Tansy have been eaten historically and used to be a popular cooking herb in England but even one meal’s worth of Tansy, I’m not sure about the dosage, can cause some concerning side effects. You can see or read about Sue Perking in a show called Supersizers go Restoration to get a first-hand account of Tansy poisoning. This finally brings me to my question. How do I know which historically eaten plants are safe to eat knowing what we know now? Are there any trustworthy resources available so I can choose nontraditional plants to grow and consume?
As a side note, I do not plan on using any of these plants as medicine which was a common use of many of these plants. And maybe one of the reasons they are not a good choice for consumption. If it turns out a lot of these plants are not safe then I do not want to eat them.
This is a good time to empower ourselves and one another. Going in. Also there are literally thousands of free meditation’s, yoga, and workout videos right here on YouTube..for free. I also know that taking care of ourselves and not being excessive with anything is best. I see a TON of jokes about drinking….I’m 9 years sober, I can’t imagine any situation in which I would drink…ever…my worst day sober is better than my best day drunk..lol We’ve all got demons, this is the perfect opportunity to befriend them, listen and understand the voices. It’s not, nor has it ever been about what’s “out there”. Being dependant on all of these external things is just another form of mental slavery. It isn’t easy…but what’s the alternative? Don’t be hard on yourselves…but do have expectations. If you fall down, get back up because that’s really the only thing that matters. It’s a practice…now’s the perfect time to take responsibility for your life and actions, journaling is great and so is making a gratitude list every morning and night. I’m incredibly fortunate, as I’ve learned that I don’t have to beat myself to acknowledge that my behaviors aren’t supporting what I want for myself, I think of it as gently catching myself and immediately redirecting my behaviors. Tiktok has been a hilarious pastime people are creative and clever…it makes me feel engaged and connected! Take care and be well! Thanks Abbey!
Hi, type 1 diabetic here! Is there any chance that you could do a video on some of the myths and stereotypes surrounding type 1 diabetes? Lots of misinformation being spread and I would love o hear your take on things
hi! ❤️i am appreciating your work and i think you are doing a great job!! congrats and good luck further! i have some questions that i hope you will answer:
1. what do you think about intermittent fasting (especially in the process of weight loss)
2. what does a balanced and wholesome breakfast looks like?
Not really related to the video, but I have been following you for a while and I am loving seeing your belly grow as your pregnancy progresses!
Abbey, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate everything you do. I enjoy watching your videos and reflecting on my own life. You make it so easy to listen to and understand, you are like my voice of rationality and sanity
I’m a barista. I walk ten miles a day at work. Since I’m not working, I find it almost impossible to make up for this with diet and exercise. Any advice?
Hi Abbey! Thank you so so much for this video, I’ve been having a hard time balancing the want to fill my time exercising and staying healthy and being restrictive, edging into a relapse, and this was perfect. Speaking of, I’m aware of your opinion on dieting apps, as they can, of course, set me off with having food occUpy too much brain space etc, but how do you feel about them as a way to stay in control of food and not binge? I have been in recovery from EDNOS for three and a half years and so have always been desperately trying to find the middle healthy ground between restriction and binging. I’m exercising for strength and fitness but since using an app again I feel guilty because I know it’s bad for someone with my history and I could maybe be eating more, even though I feel physically great. Are they always bad? Love your videos! x
Intermittent fasting has really helped me to stop mindless snacking, it’s amazing
Cried while watching this, pregnancy during this time has me totally a mess. The inability to have access to food that sounds appealing to me is causing me to not each much at all, which I KNOW isn’t healthy for pregnancy (or ever). Failure to grocery shop frequently or get take-out food has thrown me into some sort of food-centric depression, all while trying to keep food in the house for my other two children. I don’t know how to rise above.
You should stop cutting with that broken knife because tiny little pieces get onto the food and then you eat that food! So it’s bad for your body!! Just wanted to give you some advice:)
After hearing this I don’t feel so bad about myself. I am recovering from few types of disorders and I have listened to a few of your videos and have slowly started to realize I need to forgive myself 1st and from there I can get better at eating and exercising properly! Thank you Abbey!
CBC News turning off comments is a despicable act of tyranny
Over here a famous chef gives a grocery list in advance so people can shop for 5 dinners and he cooks lives on tv with regular people as skype guests.you can follow along and make sure dinner is ready at 7:30 @cyril lignac.
I can attest that stretching everyday and good quality sleep have done wonders for me. I feel the best I have in a very long time and I’m enjoying being home a whole lot.
Another positive change came from the fact that I haven’t opened my social media (FB, Insta) in months, and I don’t watch the news. Only a few clips here on YouTube.
So if you’re having a hard time, maybe try cutting social media off/stretch daily/sleep better and it may help! Best wishes everyone
It’s not just people with disordered eating that are having issues with food. People or children with ASD may only eat certain foods or brands of food and they will not eat substitutes. Another reason for people not to be selfish and stockpile!
Hei abbey I really enjoy your content, and would be interested on a video about The fairly local Family.
Hey abbey, can you please do a video on trying to reestablish hunger cues. Thank you for the amazing content x
Hey Abbey! Discovered your channel a few days ago and I love your content and your approach as a dietician to eating (even if I don’t agree with everything you say, your arguments are well structured, and I appreciate to challenge my own views on the matter).
I’m a bodybuilder and I’m extremely interested in anything remotely linked to exercise or diet and I track my calories to the best of my abilities, in a manner you would probably call obessive.
IE: here are my sheets for self calorie and weight tracking:
https://i.imgur.com/fmhhqvB.png
https://i.imgur.com/ws62bYX.png
I see calorie tracking as a tool and absolutely not incompatible with intuitive eating, as if I feel especially hungry a particular day, I will just eat more.
I find that calorie tracking and weighting your food makes it incredibly easy to have full control over your body composition, and when you adjust it just right to your hunger, makes it an incredible tool to not overeat or undereat.
I’m not talking about cutting off an apple in pieces to get the right amount, I will just eat an apple and whatever if it was 120 or 180 grams, that’s not important. But very calorie dense foods that are tricky to estimate (not a typical serving size ready to unpack) are the main trap IMO. 100g of pasta is 345kcal, and I tried just for the heck of it to adjust visually to see how far off I would be. And boy, it’s pretty easy to be 20-30% off, be it over or under. That’s just insane!
My question is, why does intuitive eating encourage people so much not to care about weighting your food? I find it extremely comforting to know exactly what I’m eating, and if I feel like I need more or less, I will adjust accordingly without going overboard over the course of a few days.
I want to become a fitness coach in the very near future, and I cannot emphasize enough how I agree with you about not stressing over a few calories here and there. Especially since mental well being has such an enormous impact on everything else. But I just don’t get why you wouldn’t want to use calorie tracking if you’re trying to get fit, it is such a wonderful tool when used correctly.
omg everything about this is so messed up. She claims she has had eating disorders before but she doesn’t even know what to say and what not to say! No trigger warning. I watched this and felt extremely bad about myself after. And when people in the comments tell her this is triggering she puts up a fight. “People just love to get triggered.” No, Tiffany, we dont. Its not a choice. Eating disorders are not a choice. Aren’t you supposed to be an adult? Im 13 and have more respect and knowledge than you. You know your main audience is young people. Be a good role model and delete this video. Geez.
I am SO glad this came up on my recommended. I needed it! Thank you
Please any advice. I’m trying to get pregnant and my doctor has told me my weight is causing me to not have periods. I’m not super big, but could lose weight. I always watch your videos and while everything looks good, I try making similar meals and for some reason I cannot get hype to eat them. Every time I try eating healthy, I don’t feel full and I honestly feel sick to my stomach. Any suggestions?
I changed my food lifestyle nearly 3 years ago. I was 280 plus pounds, eating fatty junk food as a staple. My gallbladder had the last word, I ended up in the ER with a scheduled visit to gastro and a promise to myself to change my diet. I didn’t need emergency gallbladder removal, but did end up having it removed 6 months later. It was a catalyst to my current way of eating. I didn’t want a relapse so I cut out all high fat foods including meat, dairy, cheese. I started my journey that ended in a complete change to whole foods, plant based. I have worked hard to get to a much healthier weight, I crave fruits, veggies, grains, legumes and have gotten to the point where I no longer eat refined sugar or oils. I am calmer, handle stress much better and over two weeks in to self quarantine am handling my chosen way of eating well. I am fortunate that so far the local food coop can deliver most of what I need.I do experience stress, I helped my father transition to hospice this week and that same day my stepfather fell and banged his head badly. My mother went thru a lumpectomy for a malignant breast tumor a month ago. All this while I am working full time and transitioned to working from home for the first time. We can rise up, we can overcome and we can be fulfilled. I wish everyone could experience the positive benefits I have been enjoying.
I spent all weekend in a binge-purge cycle that I couldn’t get out of.. its hard being able to stay at home where I have my rituals and can keep my secret.. luckily I do get to leave for work (as a nurse) unfortunately it stresses me out more.. and the cycle starts again..
Thank you for posting this. It helped a lot. I really appreciate to hear “give yourself grace” ♥️
Thank you so so much for this video. I had a couple binges already and am realizing its coming from my worry and anxiety over the state of the world. Also supercook.com allows you to enter ingredients you have and see what you can bake!!
I’m sorry but this seems horrible… I hate this video… it is really not okay for younger audiences to watch this
Can you PLEASE review Yolanda Hadid’s (Gigi and Bella Hadid’s mom who is a former model) what I eat in a day?? If you look up clips of her on Real Housewives, she pushes a really toxic mentality on her daughters’ eating habits and bashes sports because they cause a manly figure”. Which is already super problematic, but she also is very misinformed about her own eating habits.
I appreciate this video. It seems all there is to do is cook more complicated meals and think of ways to stretch the food I have. I find myself sharing recipes, and talking about cool ways to use all the milk the local school district gives my kids in their free meals. I made my own yogurt, and a soft cheese.
Thank you so much for this Abbey. Having recovered from my own eating disorder I can literally only imagine how triggering this would have been for my past self!!!! Wish your videos had been available when I was in recovery! I’m a holistic trainer now and I’ve made a video on how to intuitively exercise during Quarantine if anybody is interested <3 https://youtu.be/I3ONUhkBRYs sending lots of love!!!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sometimes you don’t really believe (or feel) the things you already “know” until someone else, someone who gives you confidence, says so. So… a big big thank you, from Chile (the thin and long country at the very end of the continent, where it’s getting pretty cold by the way, which for me is a factor in what i binge)
It would be nice if you’d review Sophia Esperanza’s what i eat in a day videos! She has amazing recipes and her eating habits are an example of what veganism should be like (at least I think so ;)).
What we know about coronavirus:
1. You can’t leave the house, but if necessary, you can.
2. Masks help but might not help, although must be worn.
3. Shops are closed, but they are opened if necessary.
4. It’s useless to go to hospitals with this, but you must go.
5. This virus is deadly, but not so not scary by the way, it’s like a flu.
6. Gloves do not help, but must be worn.
7. Everyone stays at home, but everyone walks.
8. Lots of food available, but someone is always missing this food.
9. The virus does not affect children, but children are in danger.
10. There is not enough equipment, but enough equipment.
11. There are many symptoms you are sick, but you can get sick without symptoms.
12. In order not to get sick, you need to exercise, but you can’t go to gyms.
13. Everyone is off work, but if you’re a contractor or a builder, it’s okay.
14. You can’t go and visit your elderly relatives, but sure as hell they can call a cab.
15. Virus is active 2, no, 3, no 5 or even longer, now 17 days outside on a wet surface. But wait, the surface can be absolutely dry.
Call skip the dishes, they are all set up for your best interests.
They failed to mention viruses can survive in the freezer for 2 years. So wash your hands after removing the frozen meat from the package and tossing the package.
Been eating too many pizza pockets and Jamacian Patties whuee.
You can freeze celery I do it all the time. I just use it for soups or stews. You can also freeze onions. Learn to make things at home, like your bread, your pizza, your pasta, your mayo, your mustard, you tomato sauce etc etc. Much healthier for you.
Ppl are saying that she is promoting an eating disorder what she means by eating slower is so your body can attually process the food your eating.
When she said eat less she meant if you are overeating you can eat the right amount for your body.
How about we rise up and eat the totalitarian authoritarian leadership we have right now? They have so much. CBC employees don’t like they are hurting. Must be nice to have a good paying government job. Oh I had one of those but it was dominated by lefties and I got pushed out for being conservative. The left hates they just lie about it.
Don’t freeze potatoes!
They last for weeks in just the fridge crisper.
Same as carrots, turnips, beets.
Me:literally crying wishing I was flat and wishing I was i’m Kardashian
I would never take advice from a culinary nutritionist. They know zero about true nutrition. Following their advice is deadly to diabetics. Beans are definitely good but I don’t like her advice.
Gurlllll. BYE. This very very basic information.
Gurlllll. It would be easier to tell us to GOOGLE it.
Oh God, beans, chickpeas, lentils?? Oxalate rich garbage, also loaded with mineral-blocking phytic acid. Not to mention mycotoxins and aflatoxins. If you want to give yourself a kidney stone and develop a mineral deficiency, go for it.
avocado, bananas, peanut butter. grapes are still for sale during this pandemic at under $1.49/pound
Don’t be choosy. Eat whatever dafuq you have cos everything’s closed lol.

Hey Abbey, this is Mouchira from Egypt! (Pronounce it in French to get it right:D (With an English /r/)(Hoping you’d actually see and respond to this lol))
Let me start right off the bat by saying that your intuitive eating “series” is very helpful, you have no idea! Being someone who struggled and still is struggling with her weight and an eating disorder for over 7 years. Where I live, there is no such thing as eating disorders so basically no diagnosis or treatment.
Anyhow, I came across your channel in some divine alignment with me listening to a book called “Eating in the Light of the Moon” which is directed specifically to people trying to recover from eating disorders. You plus the book were like a revelation to me.
However, I watched almost all your intuitive eating related videos and I had so many questions that prevented me from doing it, yet. I did my research, my very unprofessional research I gotta say, and, I am here with some things to discuss and/or ask about.
First thing, many people were asking about the possibility of losing weight while intuitively eating, you responded very professionally and honestly that it might or might not happen but it is not a promise, which I really respect. But, given that I am someone who still wants to lose 15-20 lbs. but still wants to recover and forget about dieting and food, I still wanted to find some middle ground. So, I found the following piece of information, paraphrased by me and I would like your opinion on it.
“Losing weight while intuitively eating is possible, when calorie counting is not recommended, calorie estimating definitely is. If I estimate that, my breakfast of two eggs, two slices of toast and half an avocado is “around” 400 calories, that should really help especially if someone has no knowledge of portion sizes, calories dense foods or nutrition.
In addition, the amount of calories required to maintain your goal-weight is the amount you should roughly aim for. That will make us avoid the “diet after the diet” or the “maintenance diet”. You will just eventually get there and continue because you were never on a “diet” so you did not “finish dieting” either.” What do you think?
Another question, for someone with my case, would it help to go “all in”? Since it has been years of yo-yo dieting, restricting, binging and whatnot, would it help to retain my metabolic rate? As if I am “resetting” my body?
Note: I know I should better seek a doctor’s advice and that you cannot give me any personalized tips over a YouTube comment (or article lol), so feel free to not respond. I appreciate your honesty. Only reason I ask is that, as mentioned, I cannot get much help over here.
Lastly, whether you see this comment or not, whether you respond or not, I thank you for the insane amount of help you offered me when I have been seeking help for years and years! You are truly a life changer for me.
Sorry for such a long comment, I have been preparing for this for a while now.
You are an admirable, intellectual and beautiful young lady and sweet mom.
Have a great day/night and stay safe!
Cheers!
P.S: This comment was on Stepahnie Buttermore’s “all in” review but I deleted and reposted it here in hopes of you finding it.:)
shes that girl from school who wouldnt shut up about the fact that shes small and short
THIS IS NOT HEALTHY. PLEASE STOP PROMOTING WEIGHT LOSS AND EATING DISORDERS
me and you would litterally be the best of friends no freaking joke omg <3:D
Yes, people always comment about calories and stuff but don’t take into consideration that that’s a general rule, not made for you
most of the comments be saying that she is promoting an eating disorder or that it’s
unresponsable of her for posting this but honestly it’s on y’all if y’all watch the whole video or not and plus she never said it was necessary to do or eat the way she does to lose weight so y’all need to chill
I love how Americans call those red vines liquorice they aren’t, liquorice is black
I love your upbeat attitude..really need this during quarantine
I’ve stocked up because it’s scary out there. We’re required to wear a mask when outside, we are not allowed to walk with another person, and only 200 yards from our house, getting into a supermarket is complicated and often requires a long wait, widely separated. It all adds up to a life that feels like a dystopian movie. Eking out supplies prevents more of those unhappy outings.but it’s working, so we do it. No new cases in my small Italian city. Giuditta la bandita goes shopping Once a month.
I hate how everyone is hating on her and may I just say how BMI index’s are not the most accurate
I eat slow too and not even on purpose. I’m glad I’m not the only one
Don’t watch weightloss videos if you have an eating disorder. Best advice I can give out. She is only posting what she eats as a vegetarian. She admitted to have had a disorder. If you don’t like her videos on food than watch a nutritionist on here there’s plenty.
Hey Tiff,
I just feel like I really need to tell you something. You are absolutely loved beyond any human capacity. Jesus Christ loves YOU and wants to know you. I care about your eternity and He wants you to repent. A lot of people have been deceived by the devil to think that sin is no longer serious and that all we need is to believe in God but even the demons believe in Jesus but yet they’re not saved… It is written that a friend of the world is an enemy of God. ” Let God be true and every man a liar”, most preachers are not preaching the truth that sin leads to eternal torment in a very real place called hell. There are too many people deceived into thinking that once you’ve said a prayer, you’re saved even if you continue living the same sinful life. God hates sin and it’s never stopped being serious. Sin leads to hell and I’d never want you to be deceived thinking that your good works of being a ‘good person’ will save you. We need Jesus, without Him, our good works are as Filthy rags according to the Bible.
Jesus is knocking on the door of your heart and is waiting on you to open to Him and believe that He is the only begotten Son of God. God is not willing that any should perish but all come to repentance. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by Him. May God bless you and may you seek Him and truly repent and sin no more to become true children of God. Have a beautiful day ☺️
Hello. I don’t want to argue but I’m going to put my point of view here based on what I think. When she speaks of eating slow, she’s talking about knowing when you are full. If you eat fast, you can sometimes eat more than you can hold and feel bloated and stuffed. If you take your time, your body can identify if you’re feeling full while eating.
Sorry if I’m pissing some people off…:( I only want to help out:)
I really enjoyed how honest and healthy this vid was, thanks
Tiffany I just have to say whatever I say rn I’m not trying to hate I’m just saying when you were saying that you love the oatmeal its actually really sweet and already has plenty of sugar since the oatmeal you used was was INSTANT oatmeal instead I really dont want to seem dramatic but that what I wanted to say
I had about 913 calories a day and I’m not even close to what she looks like
i can see how this video 100% is triggering to anyone with a past or current eating disorder. I had to skip through certain parts bc it was WAYYY off and so hard to listen to. especially with the comments about eating slow and chewing 20something times, calorie counting etc. this is the mindset of someone who’s had/has an ED. HOWEVER it is so unnecessary to comment on anything but that. You can let someone know that their content was harmful WITHOUT mentioning anything about her weight, looks or habits. telling someone they might be the cause to someone else’s ED, then saying something that can potentially make that person go bad to having an ED is JUST AS HARMFUL. educate and make others aware in a respectful and understanding manner.
Hey girl, it’s really great you have a good relationship with food, but maybe for the sake of those who have an eating disorder or something, maybe refrain from saying how you eat slower and count how many times you chew. That can be a little triggering for people. I’m in no way saying you hav an eating disorder or something, I just think you could have worded things a bit better. No hate ❤️
Everybody hating on her while I am just finding out she is Hispanic like I thought she was asian, no offense
I agree her being way too small and thin, Ive seen some her vids like the closet/room make overs she would eat past eating time or would just snack on a snack bar saying its a “healthy vegan bars”. Nah, its not right.. please be mindful, young girls sees you pls be mindful for them.
I literally drink 2 or 3 lil cups of water and thats not healthy
I agree u should eat slowly and u should do almost 28 choose
a second i got a drink it will suddenly be empty after a few seconds bc of how fast i am without noticing
Can you review some Harper’s Bazaar Food Diaries videos please
thank you so much for making this. I just found this video today and I’m really glad I did. this quarantine has been horrible in terms of always ALWAYS obsessing over food and body image. I really needed to watch this
I feel like this can go both ways she is very skinny and talking about losing weight and she doesn’t really need to lose any weight in my eyes. But maybe she does have everything under control and she is happy idk just seems a little off to me I can’t rlly make an conclusion
To everyone roasting her for her eating habits: As someone who used to have an ED I understand where you are coming from, HOWEVER the cultural differences between how she was probably raised as an Asian-American and how most of the rest of us were probably raised is most likely drastically different. But even I was taught to eat slow and take my time while eating. Please know the entire story behind it before deciding she is promoting harmful habits, you could be hurting her by your comments. There are nicer ways to say “I am uncomfortable by this” without hurting people.
This video was so much fun to watch!!
For breakfast today I had Kashi Warm Cinnamon Organic Oat Cereal with mini oranges (cuties?) on the side, and a cup of coffee!
You should freeze the bananas!! You can use them in a smoothie!!
Thank you for sharing and educating us. During the first weeks inside, I was doing good in terms of eating because I really wanted to stay strong to help my friends around me if they would need me. But because of isolation, and mostly because I have no work where I have to be strong, I fall back into anorexic habits. I’ve got too much time to think about what I’m eating, and also nobody sees me, so the ED feels free to play its game.
Woah… Why are people coming for her, like she said the calories she has is perfectly okay because of her height, weight, age, ethnicity, how active she is, etc… Asians tend to be on the smaller side too. She didn’t do this with the intention of loosing weight, it just happened, this is her natural weight, where her body naturally falls following a diet that is just right for her. (You can loose, stay the same or gain to get to your natural weight when you follow a proper diet ideal for you a dietician told me this). She’s not underrating or overeating. I’ve seen videos on YouTube worse than this yet this is the one to cause conflict? Unbelievable. She said she used to suffer from bulimia and binge-eating, I don’t see any signs of that here, she’s listening to her body, eating intuitively and is actually genuinely enjoying her food. She’s healthy & happy, and it seems to me like her relationship with food is just fine. I don’t understand what the problem is here… Especially when she said she used to suffer from these eating disorders I would think people would be more compassionate, caring & careful with their words. And on eating slow, it’s actually better than eating fast, eating slow prevents from swallowing large chunks, and it makes sure you chew your food properly, therefore being better for your digestion. I found this video very informative, thankyou. For those of you hate-commenting + assuming things, I suggest you actually do your research beforehand. You don’t even know her, I don’t even know her, that doesn’t give any of us the right to hate on her, Especially with what’s going on right now, negatively is not needed, the world is already cruel place, so let’s leave at that shall we.
My message here to everyone is think twice, be kinder with your words, and be less judgemental, thankyou.
Trudeau must suspend mortgage payments for the duration, New York State has already implemented this. Banks are continuing to take the money and people are not able to pay because they’re at home isolating. Why is Trudeau not doing the same thing to relieve the stress on Canadians? Banks must also bear the impact of this Chinese Wuhan Coronavirus pandemic. Everyone has to bear the impact however they can.
I’m vegetarian too! I saw you love candy and so do i! I just wanted to ask if you eat gelatine, which is in a lot of gummy/candy. It is made from pig or cow hooves. I can hardly eat any candy as a vego
i’m trying to heal from my bulimia and orthorexia and my mom just keeps complaining abt me suddenly eating four decent meals a day when she did not say A SINGLE WORD all these months that i restricted and over exercised myself and lost like 22 pounds
your birthday is one day after mine! idk why I need to tell but I just feel like it
stop harrasing her, if she wants to lose weight it is none of your business. But please do leave a trigger warning for you tween and teenage fans.
She:”Onions onions”
Me:”Frick i probably heard it wrong”
My ears:”Nahh u didnt”
Me:”Omg onions frick”
I wanted to mention that I enjoyed your video and I don’t think you have an eating disorder. Keep being you girl and don’t listen to the negativity in your comments because they clearly didnt listen to anything you said and only comment to judge
Looks like her weight fits her, she just has a problem with eating sweets, like 90% of Americans!
I love how you stay real with us and don’t try to sugar quote anything
Why is everyone attacking you you do you, you look happy doing all that and your recipes look good. They’re all just jelly
Tiffany, do you understand that you are telling girls and boys to eat slow to eat less? You are already underweight, to think that you have a healthy relationship with food? I understand you eat slow but you are being so immature telling girls and boys to eat slow to eat less. You don’t need to worry about your food that much, just eat healthy food. You don’t need to try to eat less if you eat healthy food and exercise.
the butter sandwich cookies are the best tho, love them so much
can you do a video on what your current workout routine in??
Yeah… I can definitely agree that this isn’t very healthy.
I worked out for 28 days and kept my normal eating habits and just lowered a little the amount of sugar in my diet and i lost a couple of kg’s in maybe 3 weeks and im still doing it. THIS IS JUST GIVING TEENS OR ANYONE FOR THAT MATTER ISSUES WITH SELF CONSCIOUS AND DIET. Please for the sake of anyone STOP.
But if anyone wants REALISTIC diets or workouts i highly recommend chloe ting
i’m rlly late but for breakfast, i had a smoothie (strawberry, frozen banana and frozen blueberries with oat milk!)
please no one listen to this. you dont need to take smaller bites and you dont want to break a fast with candy.
I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast hehe. It’s only 12 grams of sugar per serving so I don’t have to worry about that too much. Plus it has a bunch of nutrients usually wouldn’t introduce in my diet. And regular cow milk is pretty bad for health so I used almond which has vitamin A. I don’t really worry about calories, just trying to keep low sugar and carbs and high nutrients.
I’m not trying to offend you but I still think you haven’t recovered from the ED you supposedly HAD not HAS
Please put a TW on the video. Some of the tips are eating disorder behavior that i am trying to put away but now kinda got triggered by.
I’m so sorry that you’re getting hate for making this video:(( I know you’ll never see this comment but I want to remind you that you’re beautiful and I know you know that. let the haters hate! I love you so much QUEEN ❤ watching your vids since 2015
edit: and I’m definitely still enjoying your videos ❤
13:50 this idea that everyone binges i think is incorrect. Everyone overeats from time to time but binge eating isn’t normal or healthy. Binge eating is very common but i don’t think it should be said to be “okay” or “normal”. It’s a serious issue, it’s like saying everyone binge drinks or drinks to blackout and that’s ok. While a lot of people do it, not everyone does. I’m actually very lucky in that I never binge eat or binge drink or anything like that. I know I’m in the minority here, though.
”so now i’ve about 15 blueberries i didnt really count them” has literally exactly 15 blueberries lmao. girl, i’ve some news.. you’re relapsing..and let me tell you from experience.. the sooner you get real with yourself, the sooner you can start recovering… and the sooner you recover, the easier it will be (because eating disorders are just a slippery slide downward and it gets worse by the second)
Thanks a lot for this video the breakfast seems yummy and I will try it <3
For breakfast I ate a strawberry shake! About 250 calories. I’m a tiny person too.
I lost my period for 3 months, i asked to the doctor and he said “it’s fine because you lost many weights, just eat normally like usual you eat”. But, seriously? Isn’t it weird? I mean.. does it seems normal?
You should be asking a Holistic Health Practitioner like myself. Natural Foods…
um y’all this may not be true, but I genuinely think she’s asking for help through this because according to the comments, she suffered from eating disorders. But I’m like her and I would post this kind of things to as a cry for help so maybe she’s looking for comfort but idk pls don’t come @ me!! GURL, whatever ur going through, u are enough ❤️
Uhh, u’re so cute, I like this kind of Video, make more of them
so i’m not the only one that has to go number 2 after eating oatmeal!!! i thought i was so weird!!
Being vegetarian is not the same as cutting of protein completely that’s not healthy and this video is very triggering and not ok
I feel like those complaining didn’t finish the video. She said she doesn’t count the calories everyday, but chose to do so for the sake of the video and for those who question her calorie intake. I must say, I’m 5’1 and I probably eat around the same amount of calories as well if not less. You’re actually not supposed to eat yourself STUFFED, but full. And she said she feels full so that’s only good. Eating slower also is good for you since you will feel fuller longer etc. It’s not good to consume food fast.. some people are naturally skinny and also she is not in a starvation mode either, I’l pretty sure. Food choices could’ve been better but it’s her realistic ”what I eat in a day” so what’s up..
She literally didnt finish eating her flatbread, make her dog eat her leftover banana, and ate candy first thing in the morning(which she claims is “realistic”??) I don’t know how this is healthy and mindful at all.
I’ve been into intuitive eating for a while and I get the feeling that eating junk food is okay, but in context of moderation, I was never someone who could just eat a couple of cookies, I always ate a lot, like 7 to 10, I feel restricted if I was to eat 1 or 2, and people say this will pass, but it’s been years and I still like to eat a lot, I dont restruct myself, I dont diet or exercise too much…so do you think this is healthy, eating 10 cookies?
What about frequent periods and low iron I’d like some advice on peri-menopause
This is a nice video but not sure on your choice of dieticians, Abbey.
The second girl seems great but the first one is clearly overweight, and affirms “We all binge”, and encouraging clients to do gross food combining with Vienna sausage. That woman literally says she herself is binging on ice cream. I’m not anti ice cream at all but she seems like she is in the wrong job and I would have thought you could find someone more responsible to talk to on your video about real issues as you have a very wide reach (I saw this from London UK)
Kudos to the other girl who knew what she was talking about and all your own info which was on point:)
I just find my period back after 2 years, I have trouble with dieting and exercising and scare what to eat because I wanna lose weight and have my period.
Hi Colleen. I’m a new subscriber & I just want to say I have been really enjoying your content. I’ve been a yo-yo dieter for most of my adult life & I’m just working on breaking the vicious cycle. I read taking charge of your fertility almost 9 years ago when I was trying to conceive my now almost 8 year old. Game changer! I used fertility awareness method to help conceive & still use it to this day for natural birth control. I think it should be required reading for every young lady! Why aren’t we taught this stuff at an early age?!
I was wondering your opinion on an author named Alisa Vitti? She is pretty bad ass in the women’s reproductive area & wrote the book Woman Code. It’s pretty fascinating stuff but she demonizes a lot of food saying things like sugar cause hormonal imbalances. I’m coming from the whole “clean eating basically orthorexic food obsessed” diet. I’ve been led to believe sugar, dairy, gluten, anything processed is the reason my hormones are not working optimally and the reason I’m gaining weight & always tired, hungry & my hair is falling out. Or maybe it’s the stress of trying to eat perfectly & under eating for fear of eating something deemed “bad” that is really messing me up. Anyway she really focuses on honoring our cycles & each of the 4 phases we should eat certain foods & do certain exercises. It’s basically a diet for our cycles. I would love for you to take a look at her work & give us your opinion on it. Thanks for everything you are doing. You are helping me tremendously!
I haven’t had my period since November 2019 and I’ve been trying to get it back since the beginning of quarantine, I just didn’t know what else to do, I’ve increased my calories from 500 to 1900 but still nothing, sometimes I think it’s hard to eat all of this, others I wanna eat more, but 2500 scares the crap out of me.
I got my period back a few months ago after 3 yrs. I’m 47 yrs. I needed to gain weight and stop exercising though
I always thought you had to grind flaxseeds, otherwise they just come out whole at the other end. lol
This was such a helpful video for me. Thanks for counting the calories and everything. I loved how the snacking was also so real LOL tries to snack healthy but then ends up eating sugary snack too. I would also like to say that you seem like you have a very healthy relationship with food. I’m also somebody who is struggling to have a better relationship with food, and honestly, you eat really well! super proud of you and motivating for me. Thanks for sharing this.
As a vegan all my food is still at the grocery store! Yay for being in the minority diet
I’ve read that ground flax seeds are better as your body has a hard time digesting the whole seed. Not sure your thoughts on that?
WOOOOO just got my period back today after recovering for 6 months what a coincidence hahah
I’ve been missing my period for about a year now so needed this!!
