You should try putting it on the Kyrie Flytrap2 to see if it works hahaha
Bike fit Tuesday: Autolike. Never been disappointed. Thanks you two for providing such great content.
I’m actually curious how these would go in football cleats. Most have barely any cushion and after games my legs feel worse than after basketball, despite being played on grass.
Hey nightwing, when can we expect a performance review on these zoom insoles? Would like to know how they feel when you use it on a retro for playing or even just for casual wear? Thanks in advance.
I often find my left knee hurts and it wants to angle inward to feel better but then I have less direct power. I’ve had this issue for many years. I was thinking a G8 insole might better support my left arch and I could power at the proper alignment without soreness. What do you think James? Worth a try?
I only came across your channel recently beccause of your EverestingX2 challenge. But I’m now catching up on your content and I realize I’ve been really missing out. Fab content. Well presented. Great videos.
Silly question but…is there any reason why I shouldn’t have different sized inserts in slightly different positions in the respective soles/shoes?
What are your thoughts on insole zoom vs zoom inside the footbed? Curious
I was surprised at the Lake cx237 and the complete lack of structure to the footbed (compared to how well done the rest of the shoe is). Question for James, what do you think of solestar?
What about for women’s size 7 u.s?We bought g8’s for myself and wife mine are great but cut hers and couldn’t get them to fit into shoes they were to wide
I would definitely like to see a performance review on these! I’ve wished for a long time that nike would just sell the zoom air drop in midsoles separately. But this video definitely caught my attention as there are several shoes that I love the look, but cannot play in them due to lack of cushion.
I had insoles fitted and I thought they were brilliant, after a very very wet ride the insoles stunk and I couldn’t get rid of the rotten smell so threw them away and put in the stock inserts that came with the shoes, and noticed no difference whatsoever, I’m not suggesting these don’t work, I’m just saying for me they made no difference compared to the insoles that came with the shoes (Shimano)
Every time I click on this channel, this guy is contradicting his lady, sack up bro.
I’ve had G8s for 2years now. I live in the mountains where foot to shoe contact forces are high (due to the steep gradients) and these have been my best investment bar none. Better than my power meter. My power jumped up 5%-6% on average straight away fitting these and even more on the turbo trainer where I found they had the biggest difference. It made my muscle firing during hard intervals much more precise which led to more power (or less fatigue for the same power). To me, the focus on arch support for bike fitting was initially aimed at correcting alignment issues… but imho the biggest gains are harnessing the ability to activate the sensors in the foot which allow the brain to correctly fire the muscles. I initially called BS on these statements around 5years ago. Although my wife thinks it a lot, this is the first time I have actually been wrong:-) G8s or similar are no joke.
James! Give me your opinion on SoleStar!! I am using it and my knee stabilize well with it. But how do you think compared to G8?
£80 for the insoles……It’s no wonder people wait for the Chinese to copy them. Come on. You could sell these realistically for less than half that, sell far more and still do very nicely.
whats the thought on a more rigid arch support vs a softer one?
i.e. carbon fibre moulded vs the G8 as recommended in this video?
Thanks.
Not a fan of the insoles at all. Raised my foot up to high in the shoe and felt a bit stiff for zoom air. I had the blue bottom ones you’re still waiting on in the heel and forefoot and the full length ones. Resold them both.
I literally only by zoom shoes cause of comfort especially SB’s the cushioning is crazy in those shoes
I cant ride with arch support somehow. I run some ortholite insoles with none arch support and I can ride in them all day long. With arch support though my feets fall asleep after 30 min:/. I dont have arch support in my daily shoes neither btw. Normal or cripple feets xD. I use the lake mx270 shoes on my road bike.
Love the videos. Really informative. Just ordered a pair of insoles from your shop. Could get them here in the states, but really appreciate the time you guys take to make great videos.
A year ago I would have said this was nuts. Then I had a bike fit with James and had new shoes and insoles. Transformed my comfort. Best bike fit ever.
Wish these were available for a reasonable price in Switzerland…
I have flat feet. Like zero arch. I still have a footbed though, it just has a very low arch support.
i actually use my lunarlon midsoles from my wrecked kobe mentality 1 in my merrell hiking shoes. hehe works pretty good in the boondocks.
I think you should do a review for the “boost” insoles. Not sure what brand they are
Does the famous Greg Ferguson knows you have being using Geoff since his last Late Show went off the air!
Kobe 7s had zoom air and I would swap them in different Kobe 7s. Kobe 8 supernaturals came with zoom air unit and I would swap it out into different shoes
What if nikeid puts a full length zoom option but pay 20 bucks more
I tried putting Lunarlon from chuck taylor shoes on my safety shoes and hiking shoes and mamma mia it felt nice and bouncy while using it and it was comfortable as heck.
Just bought some through bicycle:) I bet I’m not the only one
Insoles that come with most cycling and running shoes are pathetic and will cause discomfort and injury eventually.
I’ve recently fitted arch support footbed to every shoe I use after suffering with hot spots and knee pain whilst cycling. Lake shoes and footbeds made a big difference, so I also fitted arch support footbeds to my work boots and have a pair to swap between other shoes and some Birkenstock slippers for around the house. Everything seems to have realigned and feels much better. I will point out I badly fractured both heels a few years ago though, so I probably needed a few kinks straightening out.
After years of messing about with bikes, looking for gains, my marginal gain is comfort
I use the insoles from a pair of recently retired Hoka running shoes. Very comfortable!
you talk about the right upgrades to make, and then we get this guy for free. the man’s a legend
James has a lot of soul if he could sing he could be a soul singer.
I came down with pain in the posterior tibial tendons and Achilles’ tendon after I started riding two hours a day and up to four hours on occasion. Don’t know how to stop it.
Nike really should be making proper insoles of their cushioning technologies we all know and love. If I could toss in a zoom or lunar(personally id toss react on any daily shoe I have if i could) insole into something that needs it such as anything with a thinner midsole(something like a boat shoe in profile) or something with a solid midsole with next to 0 cushion like boots.
I’ve never tried zoom before (air, air max and Vapormax are my experience), would these make my AJ1 royals a more wearable casual shoe? I love them but hot damn are they uncomfortable compared to even say AF1s or air max 1s
Question James, ive already had a good bike fit, however I’m looking for some new shoes and footbeds, do you carry a decent range of shoes?
How does someone from NZ get those inner soles? Meaning will James ship to NZ?
LOL I use to do these from my flightposites. Chris know’s wassup. These are also excellent for the Under armour curry 3
I recently bought a pair G8’s based on your recommendation. I have flat feet and noticed in the video that you said to start with number 3. Do you recommend number 3 as a good starting point for flat feet clients?
Giro make a similar adjustable insole, available in the United States, and included in some of their shoes. Not sponsored, just sharing an alternative.
I absolutely agree with James about custom foot beds. I’ve worked at renowned boot fitting outfit near Salt Lake City, UT (Greatest Snow on Earth!) Paying for custom molded foot beds is a tough prospect because you’re completely at the mercy of whoever is helping you. Generally they’ll be 1-2 people in a shop who truly are “good” at producing effective foot beds. Everyone else just knows the basics. Imagine a kid comes to work in a shop………learns how to measure and trim up a custom foot bed in a half hour tutorial……….then they’ll spend an entire season making half crap foot beds to anyone and everyone visiting on vacation who think they feel a little sloppy on the mountain. I’ve had handfuls of custom foot beds made for me over the years and i’ve used some in my cycling shoes. (To be fair….they were definitely better than what was originally in the shoe.) But I picked up some G-8’s last summer and I was blown away by how my foot felt so “Locked in”. Climbing out of the saddle was a whole new world. Soooo Gooooood!!!!!!
95% of people that come in here leave with 100% of the products that i stock… dear James. What product do you recommend that you don’t stock? Other than whisky?
This was an incredibly helpful video, thanks Francis and James. Had never considered inner soles for my bike shoes before, but this makes a whole lot of sense.
James fitted me with the G8s they have really sorted out my saddle issues. Only thing to bear in mind is making sure they fit in your shoes laterally!
Dude try it with an ultra boost for some crazy action lol. Wanna hear about it for real tho.
Can I stack like five of these so I can get some fake height
im missing the wedge on my right shoe.. are they back in stock yet?
Better value for money, specialized bg inner soles, my take
My AJ 2011(26) and 2012(27) had those interchangeable insoles. I have been using them for my Timberland Pros for years, on all my steel toe boots to date.
Watched the video, followed the link, made my wallet lighter, waited for the postie, fitted the footbed, went for a ride = WOW.
Which insert have you tried that didn’t work for heel pain? Please share below for others. Also Like and Subscribe for more reviews:)
Is it preferable to use these with new shoes? As older shows will presumably be slightly more flexible (worn) would footbed lose some of their effect?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8t4pmlHRokg Stop squishing his head:o)
I had added foot beds (G8) to try and solve a problem with my right foot. It felt as if it wasn’t grounded in the shoe and towards the end of a long ride (4+ hours) the outside of the foot was painful.
After lowering my saddle the foot problem was much improved. It was not fully resolved so I tried to reset and removed the G8 and put the original Bont insoles in. These are a thin flimsy insole. Immediately it felt so much better. The problem is almost 100% resolved. The remaining problems I think are due to a habit due to years of having the saddle too high. This is reducing over time.
Before going for insoles make sure your saddle is not too high.
PS I’d read that Steve Hogg stuff. But the best source of advice was JT Bike fit Tuesday’s banging on about saddle height.
Thanks JT.
Nick
Gotta love Bike fit Tuesdays ❤️ I really fancy a pair of the G8’s but an insole is only any good if your shoe fit is right & I don’t seem to able to nail that as yet, it’s costing me a fortune
Why would one need arch support when you press the pedal with the balls of your feet.
Can you Do a performance review on those zoom insoles? I wanna know how they hold. Durability.
Looking forward to my bike fit with Andy at Bicycle the end of February and hopefully an end to saddle issues, Hope their ready for an MTB!
Great video and content as usual and together with the “Drone Club”, the best intro around!
How is the sizing?
They do not have half sizes. I wear a 11.5. Should I go a half size up and cut the insole?
Question for James… Really a long way to come for a bike fit. Do you know any good bike fit types (ones that you would recommend) who work in New Zealand? Preferably near Auckland?
You can get them via search Zoom Air insoles or search “223638399615” (item ID)from eBay
It was because of your vids I went and got my fit with James. Learned a lot that day and it’s time for my follow up! It’s a process, not an event.
Hope your bikes get sorted after the baggage incident too
Love Bike Fit Tuesday’s with James after you have been away on a trip
I’m sitting here watching this about to go ride my bike knowing damn well I have no arch support in my shoes because they’re two years old… lol
Did you end up playing in these insoles? If so please share the performance review. Thanks.
I have OG pairs of Kobe IV/V/VI and would be interested to see how they would work in those.
yo chris, can i use those insoles in the Kobe 9s? low and mid? i feel like the kobe 9 insoles are bulky? is it or am i trippin? lol
just a few hours ago, before i open youtube, i started cutting midsole trying to make a drop in midsole with unlocked forefoot zoom from my old Jordan Rising High so a can use it on my Mamba Instinct.. my original plan was to make a cut out on the Mamba Instinct drop in Lunar Midsole so i can put the forefoot zoom from my Rising High.. i didnt succeed.. i got lazy.. lol:D motivate me guys..
so now i need to pay almost a days work for an insole. damn i love this hobby:)
I have high hopes for these things. There’s a lot of insoles that advertise comfort but they’ve never got the job done for me. It’d be awesome if you could test out Rebounce insoles at some point not sure if you’ve heard of them. Cheers
What does James think about the Specialized footbeds? Why do footbeds reduce saddle pressure?
I want a actual review, it would be cool to see how it performs
Thank you for the video, something I never considered but will now look at
I managed to mess up my EHL by getting seriously dehydrated and it’s taken ages to sort out…these could help, you think? I’m going to have a go…
Jordan really need to update their retro shoes with zoom air or other technologies. We like og shoes with modern technology
I was in the footwear business for over 40 years, and a serious cyclist for about 30. This may be the absolute best merge of my two passions I have ever seen. Exceptional
As long as Nike doesn’t get any of my money, I’m down! Thanks nightwing!
Big fan, Needing some advice on the proper size road cycling shoe I need to purchase.
My left foot measures 26.65 cm in length x 9.5 cm wide with cycling socks on.
My right foot measure 26.5 cm in length x 9.5 cm wide with cycling socks on.
I believe I have a normal foot arch on both feet.
I gravitate towards Sidi, Fizik, and Northwave on pure aesthetics.
I am looking forward to your reply and thank you in advanced.
Keep up the quality content!
i just bought them and they re perfext for air jordan 1, amazing how it makes the jordan 1 so comfortable. great review
A well known London cycle fit shop can offer uber footbeds made by a podiatrist but this was an excellent demo/talk by James (as usual). I use moulded ones (sidas) but can see all the points he is talking about. Those 1p insoles that come with your £300 shoes are rubbish. Interesting that the fashionable knit shoes get some criticism. I wondered how a knit could offer some support. Good to hear sense being spoken on a vlog.
Is a review ever coming? Been waiting but might just pull the trigger but it would be cool to know if you recommend these. Or if you have alternatives
Yes please make a video it! ALSO what happened to way of wade performance review and cross over culture
Learn something every bike fit Tuesday And nice know our country adds to James bag of tricks
Chinese knock off everything… they’ve been making these zoom-ish insoles since 2012 lmao.
I would reuse SB soles in other shoes, like my Jordan 1’s my feet would hurt, but after switching them allowing me to wear longer.
They actually have some that have full length “zoom” and also one with a square front, rectangular rear zoom in an “lunar” casing insole (lunarlon?)
I don’t quite get using ski boots as a direct comparison, whilst cycling your feet are only applying pressure in one singular repeated direction, whilst skiing your using all parts of the foot to apply pressure to the skis to do the same job that a handlebar and brake levers do on a bike
Do you find that you get customers needing different settings for left/right feet? I tore a ligament in my foot last year, and I’ve noticed that the arch on the right feels different after a ride. My physio recommended some generic insoles with arch support, but they aren’t cycling specific and they aren’t adjustable so I’m wondering if they are any use.
I’ll be honest, sometimes I find James’ recommendations, and the way he presents them to be… um… well… not for me. But regarding these insoles, he’s spot on. They rock. If, like me you’ve struggled to find insoles that support your arches, I can’t recommend these enough. All the other products I’ve tried before were too low, or too high, or just right for one foot, but just off for the other. I ordered a pair of the G8s after seeing James talk about them in a previous video. They are amazing. I was able to dial in the support perfectly on each foot. Thanks, James. I take back half the shite I’ve said about you.
Please nightwing do a review on these! It would be a problem solver if these are comfortable
What’s better a cycling shoe(too narrow for feet) with a good insole(G8) or a correct size shoe with no insole???Also, will this insole get destroyed or mis-shaped if I put it in the wrong shape shoe(that makes my feet hurt)???????
I have just seen a podiatrist today. Been having issues on and off for years, so decided to get a 2nd opinion. Turns out I have a 1 cm leg length dependency. So now working on custom insole. What I did find interesting is that according to the Podiatrist is more important of foot stability forward and aft rather than arch support. Apparently is a common misconception regarding the arch to fix all issues.
First of all, BikefitTuesdays are the best!!!:-) Second, I’d realy want to get a pair of those G8. Unfortunately living in Poland presents two main issues with that price and, further along the way, spare inserts availability. 80 quid plus shipping is no insignificant amount for lots of people (including me) living in a different financial reality. I actually can afford this purchase, but regular insert changing for me would literary mean that I have to purchase a new pair. Not having any G8 diler’s anywhere in a vicinity of my country is a show stopper… So two questions as a conclusion, first can you think of any alternative product on the market, something with wider international availability? And second if I purchase G8’s and don’t change inserts on regular basis, would I still have benefits of “good enough” support? Meaning, whats more beneficial G8’s with “worn” insets, or not using them at all, because without regular replacements they are useless, so don’t waste your money anyway?
Please Please give us an update of these insoles. My AM1 Infrared are comfy but for an entire day of walking especially when travelling overseas where your feet are the number 1 mode of transportation, imma swap these in if they claim to be comfy as stated
Maybe Start a series called ” Can you hoop in ” where you play basketball in casual or running shoes using these zoom air insoles

I put this in my farming boots and it works great hands down!
Bro, I was just thinking about this the other day! I would love to see a performance review on these! As someone who needs cushion for impact protection, I would definitely buy these if you recommend them!
Truly appreciate Bike Fit Tuesday and learning from James. I have ridden for many years, had numerous bike fits, and not once did a fitter mention insoles.
Put em in the kyrie 3s or 2s heck even in the low priced nike models that got excellent traction
Gonna grab a pair of these and put them in my bottomed our hyper dunk ‘15s, my first pair of hoop shoes are gonna get revived
I just invested in another pair of in-sites carbonfiber insoles for myself, first pair were a gift to my bro. And still has them today after all the work hes put on them and they look new
I’ve got sidas insoles but they are quite heavy, I think where the moulded section is. Are the G8’s lighter do you reckon? The sidas actually have a really notocoble weight to them.
this is what ive been waiting for! hopefully these are good. about 8 years ago i bought bunch of zoom air insoles from china and they were awful.
definitely would like to see a performance review for these (and the ones that have yet to arrive yet). as long as they provide impact protection, don’t care if it’s “fake”
kobe mentality lunarlon midsole/insoles worked best to any shoes that can be fitted at
Why not just take the insole out of like a lebron 11 or any shoe with zoom in the sole?
I’d like to see a well thought out video about saddle position (height & fore aft). Also referring to the type of cycling being done. With good tips on establishing a suitable saddle height).
Should i try sticking them in my Kyrie 6s for double stacked Zoom Turbo?
Yup. I just had a look at the price. £80. Fuck that. That’s like $1000 Canadian and even if that’s me exaggerating I wouldn’t spend more than $30.
The video was cool though.
Great video. One question: After you were speaking about those insoles in one of your videos I gave them a try myself love them! My IT band issue is, together with some regular strength work, now gone *Knock on wood*. But how can I get replacement shims when I ordered the insoles online? Already spoke to my local bike shop if he would/could take the G8 in-house, but I guess he got some special deal with another brand.
Throw them in some 1s and give them a test run cause that’s really the only reason I would want them!
Took out the insoles from my PG 2.5 and replaced them with Nike Zoom Janoski insoles. Now I have forefoot and heel zoom.:)
The volume of a modern cycling shoe limits the use of insoles
Yep, I’ve seen these before. Cam Nicholls recently talked about them too.
Looking forward to trying them out!
Y’all are slow af, they had this in the Kobe 11 Elite. How have y’all just noticed this?
My Rock hard. And I mean so rock hard that Legos are marshmallows in front of them Raf Simmons Detroit Runners need these and how
Unrelated question for James:
why does stem length and frame size effect handling? i always feel more comfortable cornering on my crit bike over my normal road bike. my crit bike is a 52cm with a 90mm stem (slammed) whereas my normal bike is a 56cm with a 110mm stem (many spacers). also i am 177.5cm tall
What about people with flat feet, when I had factory insoles in my cycling shoes that have arch support, the bottom of my foot was in tremendous pain, once I took the factory ones out and put insoles for flat feet that I use for daily walking or work shoes and inserted them into my cycling shoes, fix the problem. Can James do a segment on those who have flat feet as well, I am interested on his analysis on that along with also wondering if any of his customers he gets that have flat feet issues when cycling, thanks Francis
Been using the insole from my kobe7 for 5 years. I guess I’ll buy some of these and finally retire them.
FYI, put some zoom air in your marquee boost, and you got zoom air with boost instead of phylon, which feels wicked.
I use the same semi custom insoles I use for my alpine skiing boots Better then the pizza carton that came with my shoes
Does it work with the Zoom Freak 1? Since there’s zero forefoot Zoom Air in that set-up, would this insole help in at least compensating by having a Zoom Air as an add-on? Appreciate your comments!
Can you do a performance with some Jordan 11 lows? Jus for the reason that the shoes I bought came with no insoles and I can’t find anywhere where to get some Jordan 11 insoles
my question would be: should i use arch support in cycling shoes, as i dont need one in my running shoes (as triathlete)?
Please do more on this topic. Performance review would be cool.
Great info and very well explained information! So for the sasquatch, size 50, wide, Lake shoes, is the XL big enough?
Put those things inside some Jordan 1s and do a performance review. Please!
Damn… it’s night eagle I used to watch his videos years ago
