Imagine caring THAT much about the ingredients when you’re probably not intolerant or allergic to any of them…….
I truly appreciate you expertise and your deplomacy to addres the problem of an eating desorder. I Have observed Dr. Dray’s ”routine and diet” and it seems to me that there is a patern of ”obsessive controling” from her part. Dr. Dray is an amazing dermatologist and I wished she could open herself to some of your suggestions. Thank you Abbey for being so professionnal.
Great talk! As Christian’s, shouldn’t getting back to basics and connecting the dots include getting back to family and parenting as our primary ministry? Our society fell apart with the onset of daycare and crazy busy work schedules. Talk about stress. Thanks for all you do!
That’s a lot of rules to remember (for the combining diet)
I think Dr. Dray is eating very nutritious meals packed with vitamins and yes, plenty of fiber which is what most people lack. She is getting fats from hemp seeds, nuts and sesame seeds, etc. Her meals are not without oils as you stated. Using vegetables instead of oils and sugar in the desserts is also healthier, and I commend her for it. I follow pcrm.org (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine)
Nutritional yeast is in the family of MSG…very bad for the brain. Dr Dray is anorexic…very obvious. Just look at her arms and face. I get no fat…I avoid it in cooking but eat a few small bites a day of avocado. Just started some flax seed oil. She lacks starch.. potato, sweet potato. Very nutritious. Her diet will end up shortening her life. Body runs on sugar.. starchy foods feeds your brain and organs. I watch her on You Tube but have felt she has an eating disorder.
This was so very good. Thank you so much for bringing Dr Ali on. She so much life giving and sustaining information. I appreciate all you do For Leaf to inform us of how to wholly care for ourselves
Thank you Dr Leaf.
You two ladies are like Gold and Silver.
Liked and Shared.
Love and Hugs from Nigel, SA
Must be one of your best podcasts ever!
I completed a holistic nutrition diploma a few years ago and we were taught about the value of BOTH food combining and the whole acidic/alkaline food thing. I was always suspicious of and couldn’t quite figure out the idea of alkaline ash build up in the body. Thank-you for the comments about it. Also, food combining was just never an option for me since I’m plant -based and eat rice/pulses together with legumes on the regular, lol. Threw that one out right away. It is very interesting and valuable to hear a dietitian’s thoughts on both those food concepts…
One thing: I think “clean food” just means snacks without a ton of additives and preservatives. I feel that this is preferable to eating snacks loaded with hydrogenated oils, etc…?
They all Jump at Dray for being skinny but nobody jumps on the overweight famous people
She is the best out there I love Dr. Dray. I can’t believe some of her followers are body shaming her!!! Perhaps you should putt the comments section off? People are very rude
One look at her and I stopped listening to her. How can I take advice for someone who looks like an anorexic?
The amount of times I rolled my eyes listening to those ridiculous rules
maggie just started having eggs and salmon in her diet again:) i think she is readjusting for those in the comments who are wondering!
Hi Abbey! I’m a bit curious about when you mention her lack of carbs in the spinach meal (lunch I think?) and hoping you can provide your insight. From my understanding, raw leafy greens are some of the most nutritionally dense carbs, but I normally see veggies thrown into their own category outside of carbs, fats, and protein. Why is that?
Honestly i cant believe that kenzie burke uses the stupid food combining and other type of diets and SELLs her “own” 21 reset shes not even a dietitian!!!!!!!
Her avocado toast looked so boring. I always stack mine with a combo of:sliced tomatoes, cucumber, sliced boiled egg or hummus, roasted garlic, caramelized onions, fresh greens, chopped chives, sliced olives, feta or Parmesan cheese, balsamic vinegar, hemp or flax seeds, like I could seriously go on forever.
Many doctors like dr Greger, Dr Newman and Dr Goldman are against processed oils! Avocado is perfectly fine for them but not Avocado/olive/etc oil
Seeds have fat and oil in them which Dray puts on everything
Okay i don’t get this. Why is there videos being critiqued on how someone eats? Take what you like and move on. We all have a choice on what we put into our mouths. We cant blame others for our problems.. Educate yourselves before listening to one women and taking all of your advice from one person. Maybe this makes Maggie feel good? Everyone’s body and needs are different. I am sorry I cant get on the whole ban wagon of critiquing someone inch by inch. Especially with what the world is going through..
I’ve been watching Maggie as my secret small youtuber….didn’t know people were invested in her like this
There should be a rule where youtube fact-checks “influencer” eating videos like how posts on instagram now have to have a fact check warning. All these 20-something girls just propagating literal lies and misinformation and setting a terrible example for millions of young impressionable viewers. It’s a tragedy.
That magnesium supplement is da bomb! I get bad leg cramps at night after long days dancing and this stuff helps so much.
She maybe eats 1000 calories per day if that while actively working out. So basically starving herself and putting online for people to follow along. She’s very uneducated and it’s sad to see her sharing meals like this to people who may try to eat like her. It’s also extremely frustrating to hear her keep saying “I’m hungry” or “I’m starving” yes because you’re eating a bowl of greens or drinking a glass of greens. Do your research and be smart before listening to this girl. Thank you for this video
Please review Miss Fit & Nerdy.. I think she’s great and you’d love her videos:)
“don’t combine veggies, fruits together. different types of protein and also carbs and protein together…”
Me watching this and eating poke plate with a fish, eggs, different types of veggies and fruit with some rice: “hmmm… interesting”
I think she isn’t eating enough calories in general, especially fat. I also think she’s naturally very slender, but I’m concerned she’s too skinny. I hope she comes to the realization that she needs help and actually gets it.
Veggies taste better with fat on them. I love a lot of veggies, but love them even more when steamed and buttered. Fat also helps with the absorption of fat soluble nutrients, so the whole notion that the process of making oil negatively affecting the nutrient profile of the oil isn’t completely accurate.
I saw the beginning of Maggie’s video that said this one was clickbait which I couldn’t agree with less if I had my diet reviewed, I would have been so thankful for the additional insight, but she seemed to think that she was being attacked. As a content consumer, I just can’t get behind someone who can’t take constructive criticism, and at no point in this video seem pointed or targeted or rude. If anything, it was insightful and informative, which is more than I can say for Maggie’s channel.
Everything Maggie does and says radiates that she is misinformed. I used to watch her videos, but quickly realized she has a huge confirmation bias and a loose grasp on the realities around her. She seems all consumed with her inner issues and turns to trends to help guide her
Y’all are talking about Maggie’s “diet” first off it’s her body and she can eat whatever she wants and how she wants it. If she has money for her “diet” then what’s the problem? She’s not forcing anyone to do it with her. Plus, this lady is being intricate in every single ingredient Maggie is eating. In that case I’d rather eat exactly what Maggie is eating than following everything this lady is saying..
There is a book called “How to prevent and Reverse Heart Disease” by Dr Caldwell Essylstyn. In it, the dr recommends strictly staying away from any kind of added oilseven nuts and avocado! There’s even a facebook group. I never knew you can cook and sauté with broth and water, it doesnt always have to be oil. Maybe she simply doesnt want heart disease. I watch Forks Over Knives occasionally on Netflix to help motivate me to eat better. Did you try to reach out to her to help her before you made this video? https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asin=B000SEK74M&preview=newtab&linkCode=kpe&ref_=cm_sw_r_kb_dp_U.PbFb9A360KM
Yeah. So much of this is stuff I did while I was struggling with disordered eating. And yep, a lot of it came from pro-ana sites. That’s the main reason why I am not vegan anymore, because as much as I would like to do it for ethical reasons, but I worry I will get out of control.
Lol I love prunes. But oh my god my stomach hurts just watching this.
Ok, I get this argument against references to “clean” food… that food that doesn’t fall into that category is probably still safe and healthy. But go with me here… A lot of people who jump on these health food diets are looking for some kind of control over their diet, for one reason or another… and being met with a bunch of scientific terms and industry terms does not feel like control. “Corn, I know what corn is. Garlic powder, I know what garlic powder is” is an easy way to actually know what your eating. So I can understand the comfort that goes with that. Maybe something like “MSG” is a term that can be understood and trusted, but when they try to hide it in another obscure ingredient a layman doesn’t know what they’re eating. It might be clean, but the average person just doesn’t know what it is. That may be a moot point in reference to a food vlogger type person like Maggie, but it sees evident shes no more of an expert than me or the next person.
There’s this food combining diet myth in the canine nutrition world too! ugh lol
maggie never claims to be a professional and she never says you NEED to do what she does, it clearly works for her and shes very happy so leave her alone. why is this world just constantly tearing people down? do something to make the world a better place instead of negatively impacting someone’s life.. you can have your opinion but dont need to tear her down when she is clearly happy with her life. eat how you wanna eat, no need to sit here and make a living off of bashing her for no reason.
This video popped up on my recommended page and I’m so glad it did. I’ve always had a weird relationship with food and I obsess over what/how much I eat and watching the Macdonalds sisters videos haven’t helped any. I’m so scared of food and have no idea how I actually look and I feel like the macdonalds are drilling EDs in their viewers heads. Since watching their videos, my portion sizes have gotten really small, the amount of hot sauce I put on my food is crazy (and i use it as a weight loss tactic). I’m 19, 5’4” and weigh 118 pounds, I’m not sure what the macdonalds dimensions are and I’m also not sure if I’m at a healthy weight for my size and I’m honestly happy with my body, but regardless of anything these girls are shoving unhealthy eating down their viewers throats. I know that they’ve definitely made me scared of food and gaining weight.
I love this channel b/c I can imagine what Abbey would say about my meals and it helps me eat more balanced
Oh my… just watched the video and… reminded me of myself when it started with my anorexic eating disorder shit and from that it got worse and worse… I really hope that Dr. Dray is alright these days…
as someone who has been obsessed with skincare for years hearing someone talk about “clean” things simply because they’re recognizable is extremely irritating even in a food context lol
Oh dear, I love real food, fruits, cheese, bread, cakes, veggies, fish, oils, just normal. And I’m normal weight, healthy, sportive. Dr Dray, take a break.
I never eat breakfast let alone before a workout, and I know many people that do the same… that’s completely normal
Wow! I’ve never even heard of concepts such as the pregnenolone steal. This information is so rich. I just bought Ali’s book. I’ve been dealing with high-functioning anxiety and chronic fatigue for 10 years now, and my doctors have done all sorts of diagnostic tests without any findings. Thank you both for the work that you do
I always got a weird “bratty”, “I’m trying to be perfect” vibe from her. I find myself not able to watch her videos anymore just because the way she talks about things and shoves all of these “healthy” things she believes in in our face.. I just feel like she tries way too hard to make her life seem perfect and put together.. I don’t know
16:40 some nice ASMR… But in all seriousness, thank you for your content, I just found your channel. I’ll search your videos but I’m curious if you’ve spoken about ayurvedic diets. I unfortunately have a friend who’s been using it in a very restrictive way and I can’t talk to them about it because they think I just don’t understand the practice/culture.
I have chronic diarrhea (from a FODMAP intolerance most likely) and I was using magnesium as I tried to wean myself off of melatonin. I diarrhea-d myself as I was waddling to the toilet in the middle of the night (twice!) before I realized the problem. Sorry for the tmi but it’s kind of funny in retrospect
I love Dr Dray and her dermatology advice! But I can’t help but feel that.. I don’t think it’s just an eating disorder. I think she has a legitimate problem with phobias. I’ve noticed even in her skincare videos she applies soooooo much sunscreen and moisturizer like she’s scared of the sun and aging. She always wants to prevent “just Incase something goes wrong.” I feel that all of her intense research with health has caused her to be scared of the things that could “maybe” affect her badly. She also always mentions something like prevention vs something that could go wrong in comments.
I only feel this way because I’m a bit of the same way… I do heavy research on things and it’s caused me to have a bit of phobia on some food or how to even act in life. Whether it be around people or whatever.
you’ve gotta feel bad for the malnourished across the world and then there’s these first world foodies who are trying to be cute.
I love how brutally honest you are with your reviews of all different kind of influencer diets! I’ve learned so much from your reviews, you really explain why these diets aren’t the most healthy way to fuel your body.
Since the first time I saw a Dr. Dray video I could tell she suffered from an eating disorder. I was anorexic during my adolescence and I can easily recognize the signs. (Sunken cheekbones, dull skin, thinning hair, baggy clothes, extremely thin, etc..)
Dr Dray is amazing she’s smart and beautiful but she does look very underweight and I’m glad somebody is doing something here to help her because I want more Dr Dray forever!
Abby! Can you review Emma Macdonald’s gluten free vegan banana bread recipe?!? I just made it and it tastes great but I wonder if it’s actually good for my body to be eating. It has tons of coconut oil, maple syrup, etc. Also, as you pointed out in this video, I’m wondering is it bad to eat gluten free items if your body doesn’t need to? I’m curious! Thanks
The way you are talking about her eating is making viewers suspect her of a very damaging disorder. Also, if you are a dietitian why aren’t you adding suggestions to make each meal “more balanced” or to your standards while taking into consideration she is a vegan and eats clean (also no oil). You might not agree with the no oil but this is much bigger than dr. Dray and a lot of people are abstaining from consuming oil. I am not vegan, I consume oil, etc but this video really is upsetting, not helpful, and not “entertaining”.
I see her making breakfest, lunch and diner, i never see her eat. I hope that DR.Dray sees what i see.
I can’t stand fruit in the mornings… It’s just too sweet for me
Stop going against a diet, I agree many of these people need more protein, but when most people in the country are fucking obese, you shouldn’t tell people to not label foods as clean or not. People should know which foods are better to become healthier.
I’m wondering how Maggie is still a bit muscular and not super skinny when she eats like this. I personally get worried I will loose muscle mass if I eat under my caloric needs or not enough protein. She seems to eat show low calorie meals.
2800 people didn’t read the trigger warning and clicked the vid anyways
Girl u did this video so eloquently without being harsh but I was starving myself at one point and before I did I had the same diet like dr dray and u r constantly hungry why she eats all the greens and shebisnt getting full it’s great in fiber but missing some fat and protein
Literally took a bite of my almond butter toast when you said you can’t eat proteins with fats no joke
I already love you, this vid is no bs and ppl can’t stand that hahahaha. They could fuck right off
You should review Gretchen Geraghty. She’s been good friends with Maggie, but her “diet” is COMPLETELY different; much more realistic.
I made a video on my channel about how I’ve never had any food or body issues until I tried food combining
i love that you mentioned that she never says why she likes something or if the products actually taste good because especially for someone trying to eat healthy it’s important to recommend yummy satisfying foods..
A,D,E,K vitamins that need oil to get absorbed. If you eat a huge “healthy” salad with no oil at all, you don’t even get all the benefits of the vegetables…
her and emma definitely have orthorexia, rly sad considering how many young followers they have
I’m so depressed by the way a lot of health food obsessed peopleand frankly most Americans in generaleat hummus. Why the gritty sad little bit in a coconut wrap? No! I want that delicious smooth bowl covered in chickpeas and olive oil, beautiful fluffy pita to dip, fried mushrooms or matbucha on top, pickles and olives on the side maybe a few falafels. I just wish I could bring these people to the hummussiah I used to live near to try the beautiful and delicious, and vibrant (as well as healthy and filling) to show everyone how beautiful and fun hummus really is!
Maggie and her sister are constantly posting about certain diets saying how they’re so healthy and good without doing any research. They push products and lifestyles on their viewers that are not healthy and do more damage than good. They always have the smallest portions and it seems like they really do not do any sort of research to back up their claims. I wish they would be more cautious about what they post because their target audience are teens and young adults in their twenties and information they share can be so damaging.
I think that you give good advice, but sometimes you say things that sounds very underhanded and condescending. I am a firm believer in constructive criticism and I think that you can get your points across in a non biases non condescending way. It would make you seem a lot more professional.
No sugar. That’s good! Sugar is a drug. Sure it’s fine every once in a while, but it’s really unnecessary and harmful for our bodies. I believe it was Harvard who did the study with the lab rats: gave them a bump of cocaine and bump of sugar. They chose the sugar every time.
Do you have anything better do to with ur life. LITERALLY let her liveeeee!!! What has she ever done to you? If she wants to do her food combining thing let her do it. Ur an old lady who is judging a young girl with so much potential no one cares ab what u have to say lmaoooo
I noticed that in almost every clip she starts off by saying “I’m so hungry”
omg.. what timing. I literally started a Magnesium supplementnot the one she is takingand have the WORST poo/runs for two days. I just saw your video and clicked and came to your note about it. You are an angel sent from the heavens. And I’m not even a vegan! thanks.
Yes, definitely look into Gretchen Geraghty. She is Maggie’s friend but is so much more realistic about her meals and actually says in her vids she could never do food combining because it’s too restrictive. She eats a lot and isn’t afraid of dessert!
OH GOOD GOD! Finally somebody (a scientist & a registered dietitian!!!!) that is explaining everything I’ve been saying including the latest trends on FAKE sugars!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!
(I’m shouting for joy:-0) My family and friends have always made fun of me because I’ve been doing this since I was diagnosed with PCOS in 1997 (!) and we started calling it “white out” for dieting with no white carbs. Nobody was talking about this, much less the doctors, they just told me lose weight and you will get pregnant, with (glucophage back then) metformin and clomid. Hence 23 years later, here you are! Both of you are such a blessing Thank you for explaining it in such great detail, I learned so much more and can help the next generation (my daughter who also has PCOS ) (Yes I did get pregnant -twice;) May the Lord continue to bless you with wisdom and knowledge.
I’ve watched a small number or Dr Dray’s videos (not this one). It wasn’t my initial thought, but I DID notice how thin she is, especially after looking at more pics of her on instagram. I definitely wondered if she has a serious eating disorder (Still watching this vid so don’t know if you really talk about that yet). I find it quite uncomfortable to see how thin she is without knowing, it makes me worry for her actually. I don’t know if she’s possibly even spoke about it herself not having seen many of her vids. BUTTTT, I am naturally thin. I started naturally putting on more weight when I was 18, but before that I could look skin and bone but I had no eating disorder, I guess just a super fast metabolism, and just a genetic situation, taking my dad’s physique. At school I’d get bullied, people would often say I had anorexia, even though I didn’t, and wouldn’t listen to me when I told them that I eat just fine. So, I understand it isn’t right to just accuse someone of having a problem when you don’t know what’s going on.
Oh gosh, if I don’t eat before exercising in the morning I die! My favorite is having some steel cut oatmeal so I have something in my tummy and then I plan on eating a regular breakfast after I finish working out.
Someone needs to tell that girl that siracha and jalapeño are different chilli’s they are not the same thing
she’s 23… wtf abbey. SHES YOUNG. How about you be nice and just message her… grow up a bit please. You’re a nutritionist but not an adult. you just seemed to shit on her and were very rude.
Shame on you for making a speculation of someone who may have a disorder. If you are a dietician with any shred of ethics, you would take this down. This was made in extremely poor taste.
The amount of times you say “I love this” or “im all about this” followed by “but” it’s funny lol
While I love Dr. Dray and I have no authority over whether or not she has an eating disorder this video reminded me of all the things I used to do when I was in the throes of a bad eating disorder 5-7 years ago. It also has showed me how far I’ve come and recovered (in fact I should probably have more veggies in my diet now ) thank you so so much though for speaking kindly but honestly about videos like this. I truly hope it helps others!
you should review Neisha Salas-Berry on “Neisha Loves It” which is her youtube channel!
You could have simply made a video about your opinions of food combining without picking apart Maggie’s video. I think it’s unfair to use her content, complain about it, judge the way she eats/lives her life, and then slap on some sponsorship advertisement. In reality, your video is doing more harm to her than food combining.
I am overly concerned about the “clean” ingredients! Then i know it doesn’t have any pesticides in the foods i am consuming. You should be happy about this because eating un-organic foods that are on the “dirty dozen” is not good. The stuff they spray on our fruits and vegetables are chemicals so why are we ingesting them or shaming someone who describes foods as “clean” when they are.
As a fellow RD I was really disappointed about how this delicate matter was handled to the point that I stopped watching halfway through. ED or not, it is no ones place to make blatant comments suggesting someone has one on the internet of all places. As we all know this is such a sensitive topic and should be handled as such. This video would have been 100 times better if you had just commented on ways to augment the meals without taking every chance you got to comment on the low amount of calories and fat that were in them. It just comes off as callous and unprofessional. I can’t imagine how I would feel if I had to watch and hear someone critique me in that way.
Does anyone else see her floating ribs protruding beyond her abdominal wall.
I feel like you don’t really need oil if you eat the Whole Foods that it comes from, like olives, avocado, or coconut in its whole form
The lady is afraid of fruits and calls herself vegan! Indulges in vegges however in kilos. See my point..? @freelee is freaking somewhere.
Interesting I learnt about food combining in my studies of Ayurveda (Traditional Indian Medicine). I didn’t know it was a trend. Ayurveda is for it. I’ve tried it and it has made a big improvement on my digestion. So much that when I follow these food combining rules I can eat fruit without bloating. In Ayurveda when you have a strong digestion you can eat what you want but most of us don’t.
THANK YOU FOR SPEAKING THE TRUTH!! I totally “bought” into Maggie’s food combining last summer, it actually got me to start eating more vegetables and become more aware of what I was putting into my body but i wasn’t able to 100% follow the rules and after about two months I was completely off of the rules bc I realized it wasn’t realistic & way too expensive. I’ve recently unfollowed both Maggie and Emma for several reasons (I wish them the best) but I’ve found their content a bit toxic.
I am a subscriber of Dr. Dray and I love her videos so much. I have taken so much of her advice and knowledge on skin care and it’s completely revolutionized my skin. However I have definitely worried about her before. Although I have noticed that she looks a lot more healthy in her most-recent videos compared to her older ones, I do hope she sees your video and seeks out the opinion of a dietitian near her to make sure she is getting enough out of her diet. I also know that it’s really none of my business, but my concerns comes from a place of love!
Hahaha “the only clean we should be doing is cleaning our fruits ” love this
I like that you ended with those nice words. It’s easy to seem/look elitist when you are reviewing but you handled it beautifully.
Well done.
I always wonder why people choose gluten free bread when they don’t have to. As a celiac, I miss sourdough bread so much. It’s good to know I have celiacs but man do I miss the days of ignorance when I could have regular bread.
Thank you for being so truthful and honest with this review. Everyone can see how unhealthy and unbalanced she is. I’m glad that you are bringing to light different disorders that people can be facing and how not to eat. Thank you I am trying to be healthy and theres so much bad out there.
Can anyone please explain me what is meant by this is “triggering”? I understand so far that this might be uncomfortable for people struggling with healthy eating? I don’t really get though how this might be problematic for a person! Would be nice to get some education on this:)
I had a brain tumor removed 3 years ago. Have been going through menopause too. Started the Cellect Budwig diet and will never go back. Budwig is the cottage cheese and flax oil daily diet very high in fat. I also eat mostly raw food and juices. I’m mostly symptom free and my MRIs have been clear ever since. I don’t miss junk food because I strongly limit carbs or anything processed. I’ve lost weight and feel fantastic!!!
Oh, I recall this food combining shit being promoted in the 80s too. It’s actually called The Hay Diet, after the Doctor Hay who came up with the idea in the 1920s. Like all diets, it goes in and out of fashion under different names, as the industry revolves around novelty. I see very young people promoting the silly super low-fat/no fat idiocy from the 80s again too. It’s a revolving door of stupidity. These girls probably think they’re at the cutting edge when they’re repeating discredited shite from 100 years ago when science was far less knowledgable than now. His acid/alkaline idea was discredited by 1935. Btw, Dr Hay was a doctor who advocated a Type 1 diabetic quit taking their insulin. Not someone who should ever be taken seriously, an absolute quack.
It’s a weird thing to be disappointed about, but I liked the look of the shell portion of her wrap (I always find the flavor of the shell overpowers the flavor of the filling), and I got really excited about how thin they were until I found out they were coconut…I don’t like coconut
oils are calorie dense foods and not needed. Read Dr. Mcdouglas book The Starch solution. He basically sums up what she is doing. I have been eating this way and it works for me too.
I haven’t seen any meals (I just watch Dr Dray’s channel for skin care). I’m not sure how old she is, the ingredients in her food, and this dietitians reaction was exactly what I thought she might eat, and I was not surprised she looks the way she does. I enjoy her advice about skincare products (and ingredients to avoid), I don’t watch many of her videos, she isn’t looking youthful though and I think that would be due to lack of fat, oil and protein in her diet. I hope that she overcomes this, and I hope she finds skincare that helps too.
One thing about Abbey’s review that bothered me is the emphasis on adding oil. From personal experience, oil was the culprit for ruining my skin and caused unwanted weight gain! I understand that you mean well, but it ruined my skin and gave me the worst acne, even the tiniest 1/2 teaspoon of coconut or olive oil would give me a full forehead of acne for weeks! That’s why I have it up, and now I have glowing, spot-free skin, so please stop forcing the ‘oil’ onto people’s diets where it may be unwanted.
Magnesium can be used to relieve constipation. It’s one of the things that is listed when you google it. Epsom salts (magnesium salt) can be used as a laxative, but it has to be used carefully as it can cause an electrolyte imbalance.
I tried that Calm drink. It was sample in the Walmart Beauty Box and omg…I was up all night with the farts….never gain. lol
A lot fake people saying “This comes from a place of Love” Yeah sure Judge Judy. people calling her anorexic is so rude. You don’t know her
Maggie eats hot sauce on her food because the girl just likes hot sauce. It’s wrong to assume things about her just to make her look bad
Dr. Dray is too thin. I believe she is masking an eating disorder. It is concerning when vegans take B12 supplements because there is no such thing as a bioavailable VEGAN B12 supplement. The only bioavailable B12 is in meat. Her body is visibly lacking a lot. It makes me sad to think that someone might look to her as a health expert, even though she disclaims this, because she is a doctor. I hope she improves her diet soon.
Dr. Dray is such a sweetheart and extremely knowledgeable in dermatology (I was able to clear my 10 year hormonal acne after finding her channel) but I think it’s obvious from a aesthetic point of view that she has a eating disorder. I will say though that I was surprised that her meals were not satisfactory for a healthy lifestyle because they seemed pretty healthy and proportional to me. But then I remember that foods and fats that are considered “healthy” are always changing with newer studies. The food pyramid today does not look like the one that I learned growing up, so I can’t fault her if she honestly doesn’t know that her diet is unhealthy (to the untrained eye, it looks very nutritious.) I hope she gets help, she’s very loved and cared about by her viewers and patients.
I really don’t understand.. do you people understand how much shit and cancer causing things they put in food? Reading labels and being aware of what you put in your body is normal and everyone should do that.
Thank you! I hate this alkaline trend. I don’t think people understand that you don’t want to your blood pH to change because it can cause serious health concerns.
As soon as Dr Dray said “diet soda”, Prom Queen by Besch Bunny got triggered in my brain
as much as you might be certified, maggie looks great and i really think if this is what works for her, her body and her lifestyle then it must be fine for her! aw i right or am i right?:) we all are built different, all tolerate different foods and all have different bodies!!
For real! She is still on a diet then her body is tooo thin!
She obviously has an eating disorder. The worst thing is that people on YouTube try to ignore this fact. No one even cares.
I had to stop watching her (dr.dray’s) videos because they trigger my anxiety too intensely. She has great guidance, but even the way she talks about skincare is very intense and can trigger obsessive thoughts/panic attacks for me.
My dinner tonight was salmon over spinach, a whole avocado sliced, mushrooms, and sunflower seeds topped with moderate salt, pepper and Real olive oil. (I work nights). So this is my breakfast.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FEMALES OF ALL AGES COMING FROM MY YOUTUBE GURU & DR.
LISTEN IN 15 MINUTE SEGMENTS.
NO CLICK BAIT
This girl looks like someone I would not get along with in real life.
I followed food combining for a while cause I have a lot of digestive issues and it did help, but only in eating a lighter breakfast, not having carbs with animal protein, and I learned how to include more vegetables in my diet. I couldn’t maintain my activity levels without the protein. I don’t follow her anymore.
Peanut butter toast traffic jam! LOL! I am going to hold up a detour sign next time I eat pb toast.:D
Why so much hate against a 22 year old girl who just loves sriracha???
This is coming from a girl who loves loves loves extra spicy food eg. the Naga King Chilli. If y’all dont know what that is? check it out.!!!!
WHO ARE YOU TO ATTACK ANOTHER PERSON’S CHANNEL ON YOU TUBE?!!! People who follow Dr. Dray choose to for a variety of reasons. We don’t need you to play You Tube cop and tell us why or why not we should follow her! I’m sure she would have PLENTY to say about you and your content, too! You’re an online bully—period.
I’m just trying to learn here but is this why she’s so tiny but tummy bloat? Im trying to learn to eat right and tummy bloat is a prob for me
You look so familiar and I can’t figure out who you look like and it’s driving me crazy.
I just wonder how her bowel movements function….if I ate that many vegetables per day I would have the runs. I do eat a LOT of vegetables…but her amount is out of control.
Poor Dr. Dray, Is not Rocket science to notice shes got an eating disorder, just by looking at her zerofat pure bone arms,AND then those meals I was anorexic before, she Is definitely hiding some kind of anorexia with veganism. I love her, AND I hope she recover soon!!!
I first started watching Dr. Drey videos 1 week ago. Now, I am a retired Physical Therapist. Right off the bat I noticed her upper body, face hollows/texture, & teeth. Then her eating habits. Then her addiction to exercise. I quickly deduced, unfortunately, that she has an eating disorder with another underlying pathology as well. This woman needs professional help & I truly hope she gets it. I don’t know how she functions at work, given the amount of magnesium taken in.
This video helped me understand the meaning of “trigger warnings” on a completely new levellistening to Dr Dray made me want to go on a diet. I didn’t even know I have this button in my head but she definitely pressed it diet mode activated!
Dr. Leaf, have you ever heard of Intuitive Eating by Evelyn Tribole? Moving Away from Diets (more like a text book) and
Body Respect by Linda Bacon
I think your research would align amazingly with these resources.
Diets have been shown to really for lack of a better word screw up the mind. I am a recovering bulimic and I graduated college with a B.S. in Human Biology with a Dietetic Emphasis. Those resources along with the help of a Registered Dietitian helped me to be free from my chronic dieting, disordered eating and bulimia.
I would meditate on Matthew 10:39 because I felt the Holy Spirit leading me to give up that life of “I need to eat this way so I don’t gain weight and get cancer, heart disease, diabetes….etc….” I wasn’t really living in freedom, but I was a slave to the diet. And living in a state of punishment as well because I didn’t eat perfectly a certain way.
And then “For what a man eat doesn’t defile him but what comes out of the heart…”
“Do not be confirmed to this world…”
The diet industry is a multi billion dollar industry, yet we have increased rates of disease and obesity.
Maybe you could have Evelyn Tribole on your show or Linda Bacon?
This makes me so happy. Maggie is so up herself and needs to hear this. She talks about food likes she’s an expert when she very well isn’t.Seriously been waiting for Abby to tear her a new one so THANK YOU
The fact that she’s super thin and thinking about caloric intake is insanely triggering.
I’m not gonna lie. My body is very similar to Dr. Dray’s. But we share different eating habits. I eat meat and try to incorporate plenty of fats and proteins, and I aim for 2000-3000 calories a day. I never exercise, only once in a blue moon to try to build muscle mass…I also don’t have hyperthyroidism. I am quite tall so maybe that is why it is hard to pack on weight? I really, really don’t understand why my BMI is severely underweight. It is a problem because I feel like it effects my overall health, but it also effects the way people treat me. After a day of training at my new job, the manager pulled me aside and told me I couldn’t work for them since, and I quote, “look sick” and that “everyone else agrees” so I couldn’t possibly work a 4 hour shift, let alone “be seen by any customers.” I felt so disrespected. People skinny shame all the time but try to minimize it. I am tired of people being disrespectful rather than being mindful and compassionate.
That being said, I think people shouldn’t discredit Dr. Dray as a doctor, she is very knowledgeable and intelligent. People should show compassion towards her and understand that she is human.
I knew it! It’s so crazy how when you recover you can almost see others “ghosts”. There is clearly some disordered eating and it is very sad and she def will need to reach out and get some help when she is ready.
Love your channel! Would you be able to cover weight loss surgeries and the challenges associated with them? (Anemia, etc.). Also: what do you think of vitamin patches?
Could you review Flexible Dieting Lifestyle please?:) It would be interesting to see your take on his attitude towards food and eating.
When i saw her in a tank top and saw her bones sticking out; it made me sick to my stomach. She appears extremely undernourished. Very sad she’s doing this to herself.
She put her eating habits out in the open with this video, along with pictures of herself in a crop top n shorts, which clearly shows how her bones protrude. I think all of these is a cry for help. Something in her life changed that caused her to spiral out of control.
This seems like Dr Fuhrman nutritarian way of eating. Eat to Live is a great book!
As tired as you are of the “no oil thing” is about one tenth as tired as I am of the “dancing around the truth thing.” Come ON Abbey, certainly a grown adult has the capacity to hear the truth about their behavior without falling apart into a million pieces and…what? Feeling sad? Needing to self-assess? Perhaps make a healthy change? My god have we seriously raised several generations who are too precious and delicate to hear constructive criticism? If I hear the word triggered used one more time as though it needs to be avoided like COVID-19 I might just lose my ever loving mind. Babying people isn’t going to miraculously imbue them with the inner strength they are so sorely lacking. And gently suggesting that the miracle cure for all of these people who are DANGEROUSLY undernourished is a “drizzle of nut butter” isn’t going to do a damn thing. I guess I’m very lucky. I eat when I’m hungry, stop when I’m full, have a Reese’s when I want or fatty chourico or hemp hearts on my WHITE rice loaded with truffle butter or cheesecake or filet mignon with onions or tempeh with coconut aminos and black kale. Aka FOOD. I cook without measuring and I’m 5’5” 120. So no, I don’t know the suffering of an eating disorder. But I did study psych in college and know it’s not about food. It’s a disservice to coddle and baby and pretend and dance around and dare I say make money on videos that coddle and baby and pretend and dance around. Are you DMing these people to offer your professional consultation services? Referring them to therapists in their area? PRIVATELY of course so as not to publicly call attention to how disordered it is? No. You call them out publicly but use OVERLY PC language to pretend that’s not what’s happening. I’ve watched enough of your stuff now to basically write the scripts. You know your field. Obviously. But reaction channels that “almost” offer help maybe should only “almost” make money?
She could have put a banana in the recipe to replace the egg. At it has sugar in it. Also she could just reduce the oil if it was too greasie
People, please don’t discredit her medical knowledge because she could have ED. I know doctors who smoke ♀️ They are well aware of the risks but they still do it & they are good doctors
Abbey: consuming hot spices in large amount can reduce appetite
Me, a Chongqing girl eating hot pot: ehhhhhhhh it doesn’t seem to work this way for me…
Poor dr. Dray! I love her channel. She is so smart and sassy about skincare! I hope she understands that this is coming from a place of love. We just want her to be happy and healthy. Get well soon!
Girl go create your own content instead of piggy backing on other peoples content for views. Enjoy the dislikes.
There’s an increasing amount if people who are eating “clean” nowadays (I’m not talking about veganism) and it looks to me like something unnatural, even though she eats lots of veggies and fruits, it’s a way of eating that in order to prevent diseases it seems to prevent you as well of “living” and enjoying from time to time some comfort food
Most of us eat hot Cheetos for breakfast so why are we criticizing?
The fact that you just… leave out all the fruit she took with her is ridiculous and misleading
Me sitting on my sofa eating tortilla chips off my chest:
Wow she has such a bad relationship with food
But really there is no need for your body do have refined (extracted) oils! Instead of olive oil you eat olives with your salad. Instead of avocado oil you eat avocados and so on.
Refined oil is nothing better than refined sugar!
You’ve easily become one of my favorite people to watch. Love your opinions and advice!
tbh I think you just used Dr. Dray’s name to draw more attention to your boring ass non-informative channel. This video was much more of a critique of someone’s personal life choices rather than proposing any new information to better society in general. Also I think it’s extremely irresponsible that, if she does have an eating disorder, this would be the way you would go about helping her: by publicizing a suspicion. Does a lot more harm than good to put someone’s problems in the public eye. You’re a really disgusting person.
bro this is why society has problems with body imagebecause PRIVILEGED TEENAGERS are influencing young girls to look INSTA TRENDY and skinny. Not eating enough food can bloat you too and certainly eating only veggies for dinner will do just that. its not difficult to eat normal food and also be healthy, you don’t have to spend a ton of money on non-nutritious-garbage food.
My food combining rule: combine different types of food, put them in your mouth, take your time to chew and repeat until you’re full
Wow I hope there was a conversation with Dr Dray if her diet choices triggering Abbey so badly. As Meagan Wallwork referred to the health problems everyone can have, even Doctors. Taking care of each others human frailties and speaking with sensitivity is needed. It seems like you may be caring and also respectful in well advised ways but the use of criticism of Youtuber’s diets lead’s me to wonder about what is going on inside your mind too. I did agree with you for the most part and I enjoyed how you stated your opinions. I have one thought afterwards not about diet but a mild suggestion or funny idea. Lol if you used a British inflection while criticizing I think it would seem a little funnier. ( at least it is to me) https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/anger-in-the-age-entitlement/201404/whats-wrong-criticism
Peanut butter toast with a sliced banana on top is my favorite quick breakfast when I’m running late for work, these people are really missing out:/
literally the only “food combining” that should be happening is if ur taking supplements and need to combine it w food for better absorption (i.e. a glass of orange juice with an iron supplement bc vitamin c helps with iron absorption) and/or not getting a stomach ache if u take supplements on an empty stomach (which is common, it happens to me)
Can you review Renee Amberg?? Would love to hear your thoughts on her videos
What’s the point of this video on Dr.Dray? If she actually “is concerned” she would address her personally NOT put her her on blast. Why tear her down? Start supporting women. I’m guessing this is one way to ride some else’s coattails. Dr. Dray never suggested anyone eat like her. She was simply sharing what she eats. You are completely shaming her and the worst part is that you’re making some serious assumptions. Your video is her trigger so critical. Let her come out on her own, this is her private life battle. NOT yours to share.
I like smoothies for breakfast but they are loaded with protein
I sent Maggie this video link via Instagram and she blocked me. Oh well.
I thought this was a educational video… It’s actually a unprofessional video on how gossip begins.
Matthew 15:11
Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.
Matthew 7:1-3
1Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
You mentioned the Magnesium supplement having the “side effect” of giving you the “shits.” But, isn’t that “side effect” the desired effect in some people with disordered eating?
