Hi Tarashaun,
Love watching your videos. Thanks for this comparison video. I currently have a Kitchenaid stand mixer with the spiralizer attachment. Like in your video the spiralizer worked beautifully with the zucchini, however, I was disappointed with how it worked on the sweet potato. Not only did the spiralizer not work on the sweet potato the potato bent my spiralizer blade. Disappointing to say the least especially considering the price of this attachment. I have seen other videos where people have had the same issue with spiralizer not working on sweet potatoes. It worked beautifully in your video so I would like to know if you did anything at all to the potato? If not do you have any suggestions for what I did wrong?
Thanks for any help you can provide. Enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.
Chuck
I thought the Kitchen Aid was the best one I’m sure when you get used to putting on the attachments no problem and also I already have a kitchen aid more convenient for me to just buy the attachment instead of having to make more room for a new product on my counter
I have same device but it botched sweet potatoes it doesn’t make long noodles Any other veg is fine.
Any ideas? It’s only new.
another tip, this manual model is not very good for people who are not very fit, it’s absolutely not as easy as in the video, the machine keeps getting stuck, finally I moved to an electric spiralizer, that also was not completely effort free but better than the handheld (Lurch brand that s what I had)
1//3/20 I just found you! I bought a spiralizer and love it! Thank you for the demos. Very direct not a lot of unnecessary verbiages. The spiralizer is an easy tool that does so much!
How does the onion doesn’t smell the spiralizer and/or contaminate the flavor of the other veggies that are cut after it. i cant stand raw onion at all!!!!
I LOVE your videos! I watched this last night then bought a Spiralizer
Came for the spiralizer…Stayed for the cutting board…
WOW…WHAT A BEAUTY
I NEED IT
Hi Liza, I was just searching on youtube about spiralizer and I came across your channel, and then I can’t stop watching your videos for more than 3 hours straight because I love your healthy, inspiring, and exciting ideas that I can’t wait to try.
I am very happy that I found you on youtube and by sharing about your healthy lifestyle, especially on food and organizing the kitchen I will be able to incorporate that into my lifestyle. Thank you so much for all of this amazing information and you can count on me to follow your blogs from now on. God will bless you with great health and enjoy a happy life.
Hi Lisa! I found it! I’m really enthusiastic about spiralized vegetables… and fruit ! Now I’m off to purchase some equipment to make it happen! Hopefully, I can locate a kitchen aid attachment since I already have a mixer. Blessings to you!
“in 2019, this list helped me decide for the best spiralizer scafe.shop/tbss2019?hY hope it helps you out too!”
I don’t know if you know this but a really good way to use raw cabbage as a snack is just out some either lemon or lime on it with some salt! It’s delicious and so refreshing!
How many calories do you save eating spiralized zucchini owner regular spaghetti?
Lisa have you heard of einkorn flour? Jovial foods has a very low and weak gluten flour, Gods original design, never hybridized even once by men, that doesn’t bother people with gluten sensitivities, it’s nutrient dense and it’s absolutely delicious <3 so you don't have to go without:)
Veggie Bullet is a big girl, but she is good. She’d be hard to store though when not in use.
One of the worst spiralizer’s i’ve purchased. The plate with the spikes constantly spins around the vegetable and causes it to fall off. I couldn’t use it on a sweet potato, rutabaga, parsnip or turnip.
I like the ribbons. Would that work texture-wise for Zucchini noodles? It seems more ideal hold sauces etc
Can I use my Apple Slicer/corer/gadget instead? The kind I use for preparing apples for apple sauce/canning
Notice how the pusher for the oster has a pointed end, and the vege bullet has a flat end which would make it easier to feed the vegs through..
Love my KitchenAide. and love my spiralizer with peel, core and slice.
I am so glad there exist spiralizers like this. I have the little hand held one and grew tired of it, but this tabletop one has me very interested.
How come when I spiralize my cabbage the outer leaves keep popping out as it turns around? Anyone has that same problem with cabbage?
The Paderno has little suction cups on the bottom of the 4 feet. So when you engage the suction, it does not move and is much easier to use than in this demonstration. If you’re on a budget, it’s a good option.
Thank you so much for those inspiring ideas. It helps a LOT!!!
I bought a second VeggieBullet in case the first one ever wears out. I have one of each of these, and I recommend the VeggieBullet.
Great review y’all! I have been thinking about getting the veggie bullet.. Just not in the budget right now..
I hate to sound like a jerk but, you are pronouncing Oster wrong. It rhymes with toaster.
I like to save all the veggie ends and trimmings, and throw them all into my blender when I make my next banana smoothie. Free nutrition for something most people just throw away! Works for everything except the strong-tasting vegs like onion and cabbage.
huge advantage of manual spiral slicers over electric ones: You can use large vegatables
Just curious, what kind of spiralizer are you using? Is it called a Classic Cuisine 5 Blade Vegetable Spiralizer? Thank you!
Always set your vegetable in the shoot and your stamper BEFORE you turn the machines on!
Thanks, I just got mine today and I love it. I get tired of eating meat and this is .
Great video. I couldn’t find my owner manual for this & wasn’t sure how to use all the blades. This was extremely helpful. This spiral cutter should come with this video! Thank you so much!:)
Once my finger heals from kitchen knife injury I will use the mandoline slicer and spiralizer I bought the next day (and the safety glove)
So so happy to have found your channel. I have gained way too much weight from depression after i lost my dad almost two years ago and i have to also have to take responsibility here in those two years, i haven’t seen the inside of a gym for almost 1.5yrs. Yesterday i decided to stop the pity party, but now i gotta get back to my “HAPPY WEIGHT”. I will be using your channel for these delicious low-calories recipes. Wish me luck.
Just received my Paderno spiralizer yesterday so I went out to my favorite market here in Hamilton MT and bought organic purple cabbage, carrots, yams, and a black radish, which I’d never seen before(about the size of a tennis ball) and various apples. As well as zucchini of course! It’s going to be a fun afternoon! I’ll keep you posted.
Thank you for the demostration that will make it easy to use it. I’m ready to get me one.
Where can I buy this exact type? Also is there a model that leaves a long core behind? I watched some videos that shows the leftover tubular core of spiralized zucchinis. Does this model not do that??
I have a spiralizer that looks like that. I used it for 5 mins and got irritated when my vegie kept falling off. Wish you had talked about some tips for the spiralizer.
Why didn’t you compare how the machines work? I am not sure how the noodle looked was important.
How about space and storage, price, ease of use, ease of cleaning and waste ( the Kitchen Aid)…. for me if the noodle does not look exactly like pasta, that is ok and peeling is very easy and quickly done by hand. I would choose the Padero BUT, the Veggie Bullet has several more uses than just spiralizing. That in itself is a better buy.
Have anyone had trouble with a spirilizer when it mushes up the vegetable instead of cutting it? I just got one and had to return because it just destroyed my zucchini instead of slicing it.
I am wondering if I’m doing something wrong or it is a bad equipment
It might be the brand of spiralizer or the brand of carrots, but my carrots are hard; they won’t stay on the food holder and won’t go through the machine well. Do you have any recommendations? Would pre-heating them make them too soft?
So glad I got the vegie bullet, haven’t used it yet but this was helpful!:)
I have to say I have had three different spiralizers and my Paderno is my favorite, it can do long and short vegetables, fat and thin vegetables, comes with a variety of blades for a thinner noodle and a thicker noodle, does not require electricity, is easy to clean and super fun!
I have the Paderno and I love it! So cheap and worth it. There is no way I would spend on a machine to accomplish the same results. I use it often, but not often enough to spend money on a machine. The Kitchen Aid attachments are so expensive…no way I’d buy one just to spirilize vegetables. Plus the storage. I keep the Paderno!! Love it!
Beautiful presentation. Great tips on what blade to use & to use gloves. Thanks for sharing
I know this sounds strange, but onions make me sneeze!!! Love all your videos!!!
I don’t like that you have to cut down the zucchini to fit the kitchen aid, wasted some zucchini and it took to long.
I’m new to a spiralizer so this video was so inspirational and confidence-building! Thank you Question, what do you do when your spiralizer blades need sharpening?
This is amazing!!! I love the tutorial. The presentation was excellent. I was just going to make a cabbage slaw but you inspired me to add onion. Unfortunately, my onion was very strong and I cried. But it added so much my slaw. Thank you for showing me that even carrots can be spiralized. You are an inspiration!,
Actually, the best spiralizer on the market is the Inspiralizer by Ali Mafucci of Inspiralized. The suction pads holds it steady and safely and there are not blades to change out or lose. Just turn the noodle twister and go. Check it out at https://inspiralized.com I am not associated with Inspiralized at all, other than being a huge fan of the product and website.
I bought the KitchenAid attachment. It only works for zucchini, but doesn’t fit an actual zucchini. So, you end up wasting veggies. So annoying. And it makes a mess of everything else.
I have the same Spiralizer, I have only used it for zucchini. Great ideas
Was disappointed in your video. It could have been better. First the white hand crank machine was not suctioned to counter. Also you only spiraled long veggies. What about onions, cabbage, beets things that won’t fit into standard shoots. I personally like the veggie bullet but its limited in size i like spiralling whole cabbage and onions and squash things that are not shaped to fit in a tube.
Sprilizing a sweet bell pepper and then picking out the white pith and seeds is a time consuming nonsense. All you need do is slice the pepper thinly from the outsides inwards, leaving behind the pith and seeds. Also, the more you process vegetables the more they leak vitamins, minerals, trace elements, flavour and texture (I am not sure about fibre). It is also very wasteful. Do you not know this? If you want to badly cook a carrot, spiralize it. Do not refer to spiralizing and eating healthily in the same sentence, because spiralizing is not a healthy way to treat veg. It is way over processed. I have the same spiralizing machine as you. It is redundant in my kitchen. As for homemade sweet potato fries, with all the oil seeping into the sprilazied veg, it is extremely unhealthy. How can this be healthy eating? I am baffled. As for spiralising an onion, I am totally bemused! If you want to chop an onion without crying, just Google or email me. I will tell you how to do it.
Thank you! I can now utilize my spiralizer and enjoy variety of veggies
Chutes are a big problem with bigger veggies like a butternut squash. You have to cut the vegetables to size to fit them in a chute and that means you waste awful lot of good veggies. I use a spiralizer similar to paderno. Zucchini has to be nice and thick throughout in order to get those perfect long looking noodles. That is not always possible or realistic. Because of the shape of zucchini and uneven width you are going to get some nice and long noodles, and then there will be some broken noodles and bits and pieces. It is still all good to eat. Don’t make people think that you can get those nice looking noodles all the time. It doesn’t work that way. The teeth on Paderno that holds veggies in place are plastic; they are not sharp enough for harder veggies like red beets, and if you do a large piece of veggie like red beets or a butternut squash because of their weight they will break off and not hold in place. You will need learn how to keep them in place with some practice. Lot of spiralizers like Paderno have a flimsy handle that will break off. Because it is made of plastic it will stain. The teeth on the base are hard to clean, and it gets dirty there.
have a good day ma’am Liza..love your video..very nice.. I wish I could have it too…the spiralizer.where and how I buy that? how much it cost?
I’m very disappointed in the documentation and will return it to Amazon if it can’t be cleared up.
It says to use 1mm through 5mm blades depending on the size spiral you want but there are no markings on the blades to determine their size.
The blade trays are marked, CW, AH, CF, FW, etc., with no explanation of what they stand for and no size in mm. The video link also says nothing about how to determine the size of the blades.
And what is the blade taped to the machine for? No mention anywhere about what size it is or what it is for. This documentation is unacceptable unless I am doing something wrong.
I just happened onto your site and am so glad I did! I also suffer from an autoimmune disorder-arthritis. Although being mostly vegetarian and conscious of what I eat and how I live it’s become clear that even more steps need to be taken. So your recipes and tips and instructions are very timely. You inspire me because you make it so simple to make big changes. And fun too!
I have gotten hooked on homemade sauerkraut and pickled vegetables. Takes so long to slice them up and it is harvest already! My family grew up and now I always have too much to eat before they spoil. I also dry a lot, same thing, time consuming to slice and even thickness is best. Thank you for your video.
I save my cores after cutting into small pieces and place in a jar with lemon, pepper and olive oil for a perk up for a quick salads.
What can I make with spiralizer parsnips? Is it good for pasta? Never even ate those before, wouldn’t know how to cook it.
It wasn’t completely fair IMO. The first test she turned on and then she spent half the time trying to get the thing on it to push it down. Also with the hand crank one she was moving so slow turning it and only started to go fast once the kitchen aid was done. I would like to see a fair test without trying to make one look better than the other. Personally I prefer my KitchenAid because there are so many gadgets you can get for it, so many uses. Plus it will last forever and does a great job.
Can you store the spiralized veggies? If so, how and how long do they last?
How come no one told Kim you don’t need to unlock the head every time you turn it on?
I really did not like the Veggie Bullet. It’s a fast and diverse machine, but it sounded like it had to make up for that with tremendous deafening noise to get the job done.
The Oster, like the impression I get from similar machines is that, while it’s electric, it struggles. I feel as if, if I were prepayment types of veggies, I’d end up pitching it right across the room.
The Kitchen Aid attachment is quiet and nice, but even if you already have the mixer, there are a lot of people who won’t buy the attachment as, I think it’s $99. One of the things the Kitchen Aid does not get marks for is that, although it leaves a thin core, it still leaves a core. Perhaps that’s good for seedless produce, but if you wanted the entirely of the produce, it’s not going to spiralize it all. I’ve heard that other machines on the market are worse for this so, it’s not a deal breaker.
The Paderno is popular as, it’s a step above those Veggetie style cutters and it looks as if, although it’s manual, you might not develop carpal tunnel syndrome. But, I wonder if people have as difficult a time keeping it steady and attached to the countertop, as the woman in the video did. For me, it gets marks because it’s silent. You can spiralize early in the morning or late at night, without waking up family and neighbors. For me, I’d likely get the Paderno look alike in black as, I no longer own any white kitchen appliances. Everything I have is black or stainless. This goes double for small appliances that handle staining vegetables. Staining ages the appliance and you never feel satisfied cleaning it so, I no longer do that anymore.
We watch with my 4y.o. Child this, and it’s more interesting than cartoons, she says
Please demonstrate more recipes making vegetables with the spiralizer. Thanks
I wish I had watched this before purchasing. I have the kitchen aide, the paderno and now a ninja. Ninja works similar to the Oster. Only downside with the kitchen aide is having to cut them down so much. Looked at the Veggie bullet, and would have bought it if it also did some processing w/other blades.
I recently started a diet for which i cut pasta and sugar. I bought this slicer in order to replace pasta by zucchini. Feel like im still eating pasta.
Hi thank you so much for this video I want to make angel hair zucchini noodles and angel hair cabbage shreds did you already figure out which attachment makes really thin shreds? Thank you.
This is probably a dumv question but do you have to cook the zucchini for the chicken alfredo or can you throw it in after spiralizing it
It’s a good thing they didn’t turn the Kitchenaid on when she leaned over it and her hair was on top of the sweet potato.
I wish u could show where exactly u attach the veggies on the other side…that’s what I’m having trouble with
It doesn’t peel. And you can’t choose the size of the noodle like the kitchen aid allows. I think I will try nuts and turmeric to make parmesan cheese. I use my vita-mix. Add sea salt which makes it look like it too. And the veggie bullet doesn’t make bread like the kitchen-aid does. The kitchen-aid has lots of attachments…got it for Mother’s Day!
I really want to make zucchini noodles for pasta, but there’s much more here I can do. But I’m only one person except when I have guests. When I’m using this just for one, does it still make sense? Won’t I have too much food to store?
My mother is saying “pin up that hair, we are cooking”.! Also kitchenaid is way to go long term. It will outlast those toys
Right on! Thank you, Lisa! I love my spiralizer. So far, I’ve one done zucchini and cucumber. This has given me some new ideas. It never occurred to me to use it with these other vegetables. This opens up a whole new world! Ha! Lisa, thank you! I just subscribed too.
I like this, but I would rather peel the shin off the zucchini or cucumbers. Would that be a problem?
Kitchen aid is kool and all but it’s too much work in setting it up to spiralize❤not bad intended cause I have a kitchen aid stand mixer while the veggie bullet its so simple fast and easy to clean I also have and I love it I use for everything ❤❤
So this FOODIE is embarrassed she’s only used her Spiralizer for Zucchini and Carrots, Yikes! These look like SO much FUN and much easier on my poor hands:) Thank YOU! Watching your next video on Veggie sheet strips:)
Just getting into spiralizing with a 4 blade Paderno…. Williams Sonoma has a great demo video here for the Paderno option.. the key for long noodles is to apply a strong pressure and keep it consistent while cranking.
A couple of notes:
Oster: The first test wasn’t done correctly. When she put the zucchini in, through no fault of her own, she didn’t know that you have to stick the cross shaped piece on the bottom of the plastic piston into the veggie /before/ you put it in and start. If done properly, the Oster is indeed slower than the Veggie Bullet but it’s not nearly as hard as it was for her. That said, if the plastic piece comes out of the veggie mid spin or if the veggie isn’t cut straight enough, then it’ll be hard. Also, if done correctly, when you pull the black plastic piece up out of the chute, there will also be a decently sized wedge shaped zucchini piece attached to it.
Kintchenaid last a life time so for me that’s the winner!!!
Magic bullet with time the machine break i know it for a fact with receipt and i’m not the only one.
So for the investment Kitchenaid always the winner Quality & Price are worth it!!!
And no i don’t work for Kitchenaid lolll
My honest opinion.
I would core an apple or pear prior to spiralizing just so you don’t wind up with sliced core/seeds in your apple noodles.
I have the veggie bullet and the spiralizer. The veggie bullet is great, its super fast, but too many pieces and parts. The spiralizer is great, sometimes the suction cup doesn’t always hold. Both get the job done
Thank you very much for your tips on spiralizing all of these vegetables! Great work!
I just got my Spiralizer but the blades are not numbered. Can you give me some guidance?
Cuineart has spiralizer thats gets no attention Easy to use, stores better than the ones in the video, easy clean up etc
The pacer no does suction cup to the counter. Looks like that one wasn’t setup properly for demonstration. It caused problems in spiralizing for that reason. E demonstration could have been better.
I use the Padernoit spiralises really well & in your review, it looked as though the smallest sample was chosen in every instance. I have had long, gorgeous strands out of beets, zuchhini, rutabaga, turnips, and, gasp butternut squash. I have the white 4 blade Paderno with a metal rod which holds the heavier vegetables in place whilst spiralising. As others have mentioned, the rubber feet need to be properly suctioned to surface to ensure stabilisation. I’ve never had any problems with this -perhaps it’s the model I own which is different from the one shown. It takes a little practice, but it works quite well if a non-electric option is desired. https://www.padernousa.com/4-blade-spiralizer/
I’m.allergic to zucchini etc. What veggies would you recommend as a pasta replacement instead?
So glad to see you again T!! Nice compare and contrast. Glad to you have mastered spiralizing veggies. I’m still trying to get em coins right…
Ned
I’m shocked. I actually prefer the Paderno for ease of use but the KitchenAid and Veggie Bullet made the best shapes……The Kitchen Aid will last a lifetime.
The red onion spirals for a whole wheat vegan burger!!
With your lowcut blouse, you look like Raven Delacroix. Not a kitchen kinda look.
