Quit processed sugar back in November. I do eat a little fruit almost daily. Lost 45lbs since November 2019. Also, I do have 2 cans of Vernors ginger ale a month.
After having saying this it’s almost impossible to avoid SOME processed sugar because it comes in nearly everything we buy at the store.

Reducing your sugar intake overtime reduces your sugar cravings as well. I stopped eating foods and drink with so much added sugar since March. It was hard at first because my daily diet used to be full of processed foods with added sugar and sometimes I would give into cravings which is understandable. Now my taste buds kinda despise sugar lol. I just made some oatmeal carrot cupcakes and I only added a little bit of honey in it for a lil sweetness and when I say little I mean only two tablespoons per batch of the cupcakes. My sister had frosting in the fridge and I put a thin layer on mybcupcake and said lemme try it and I had to scrape it off because it was too sweet! And if I was my old self I would have ended up adding more because my taste buds were so used to sugar. Reducing your added sugar intake overtime will help you to live healthier and help keep off some pounds as well!
The tips are very helpful to reduce sugar. Sugar is the most difficult thing to quit and one of the most addictive and unhealthy ingredients. Thank you so much for such a useful video:)

All of these snacks look super good! I’m a big snacker while going to school or after school snacks so these look great I can wait to try them! Especially those energy bites since I’ve tried your other energy bite recipes and I love them and make them almost every week as like a little sweet snack to have every now and then. Green Plantains ripen and get yellow or brown/black if overipe. When they’re yellow they’re sweet but since they are starchier than bananas they should be cooked before eating. You can bake, boil or microwave them with the skin on (cut the tips and slice across). They’re DELICIOUS!! If you’re not so health concious you can remove the skin, cut it up (green or ripe) and fry them

I know from experience as I’ve grown up in a Canadian American household.
I LOVE my sweets, so it’s hard for me to resist the treats. I do try to pay closer attention to the amount of added sugars there are in foods and try to seek out healthier options, and I haven’t touched a soft drink or bottled juice in years. Water is my go-to. I also don’t eat breakfast cereal the way I used to. It’s hard to deny the cravings at times, but I am conscious of how I can improve my diet while still allowing myself to indulge occasionally. Thanks for the tips!
I was able to reduce sugar in 6 mos, by replacing sweets for bitter, sour, natural whole foods. Instead of yogurt, I made my dessert from bananas, mango, I would put tofu & fruit in blender & freeze it for natural dessert. It took a while to get past withdrawals from sugar, but persistence paid off……………………# Holistichealthtalk.org

Love your high quality content, it’s quick, it’s simple and it’s totally doable. It’s difficult to watch videos where they use 4 flours and 2 sweeteners… who cooks like that every day. If you are Paleo it’s every day so this is realistic.

I have a sugar intolerance and it mostly shows up as acne on my skin so whenever I don’t eat sugar for a long period of time my skin clears up so much and I feel way better, but sometimes I can’t help it because I still live with my parents and seeing biscuits and chocolate doesn’t help haha

As for me, i find drinking lemon water really helps in reducing sugar craving. Drinking plain water can be so boring and makes me crave sugar. Lemon water is really a lifesaver.

Good to hear about how important it is to find “non sugar” ways to de-stress, as well as trying to remove the added sugars, and acknowledging that it is an addiction hard to break. However, there are so many people in this country, and mine (Canada) who have become metabolically ill from 30 40 years of eating processed, low fat, sugar augmented “foods” (I do not call them foods now), and for these people, cutting out added sugars is just the tip of the iceberg towards healing of their bodies. They may have to go further, cutting out starches as well, and most fruits, before they might see improvements in health outcomes. But, you gave very practical advice, and this will certainly be beneficial to younger people, younger adults, and lead them away from eventually getting metabolic disorders.

True thing about the balance! Personally, I have just limited the amount. With most liquid kcals and candy out of the way, I now have basically what I add myself. So it could be a bit of honey with my yogurt or a teaspoon of sugar/day in my coffee.. I used to add 3-4 teaspoons per cup of coffee and tea, so just impoving is the goal for me.:)

My personal tips:
avoid buying sugary snaks ( choose diet soda also )
if you crave sweets, buy a small amount, don’t go crazy. quantity really makes a difference
choose dark chocolate it’s very satisfying
eat full fat, it helps keep the cravings away
try to avoid to many sweets in your home by not buying them in the first place
after a couple of months your taste buds desensitize and you will come to reject foods with too much sugar
There is something worse than sugar that we eat much more of: flour. I drastically cut everything with flour and lost 50 pounds
Made these blondies tonight as I’m currently on a gluten, dairy, refined sugar free protocol. My husband doesn’t usually go for sweets or desserts and I turned my back for a second and he was munching one and loving it. Might have added too much baking powder as it was cakey rather than fudgy but still delish!!

I need help so bad. My son is 30 and over weight, and he has fatty liver! Not sure how he goes about losing. Doctor tells him to limit fats, others say sugars. I say limit sugar and eat relatively low in fats. But then again I eat way to much peanut butter myself.
I need to lose and learn so I can show my son how I did it maybe give him some motivation.
I love cottage and yogurt but then I hear it is to high in sugars! Ugh

Thankfully I was watching the video again as I was setting the timer, I had already put 12 minutes, I was about to have some burnt crispy cookies I have noticed that on the video you say one thing and on the description you type in another and I end up messing up and wasting expensive ingredients , no shade! Plantains are so yummy &fun. They actually so get yellow then brown like bananas &sweetness is stronger with more thick starches. They make great pancakes &waffles when sweet!

Im 13 and Im 140. The highest I have ever weighed was 155! Im trying to get down to 135 or 130! I love all of your yummy and healthy treats! Girls my age wouldn’t enjoy these foods like I do! I only eat 1 carb a day because I’m still young and Im still growing! On Saturdays are my cheat days and that means I eat 2 carbs that day! All of these treats are really good and thank god they are healthy!

It’s do hard for me because I am still in high school and I have a younger sister who loves sweets, but so do I! And I tend to go overboard. I try to tell my parents to not let me know that they’ve bought sweets but it’s like they’re ignoring me. It’s so frustrating.

Hi! I think it would be great if you bought australian snacks and tried them. Also, is coconut sugar healthy?
Table sugar’s chemical name is sucrose, which is a combination of glucose (blood sugar) and fructose (fruit sugar) molecules bound together. Starches are chains of sugar molecules bound together. Fruit is okay to eat in moderation, but starchy fruit (bananas) are more likely to drive up your blood sugar. Avoid juices as they are mostly the sugars without the fiber benefits. Berries are low in sugars and are better for diabetics to eat than most other fruit. Lactose (milk sugar not listed) is not very sweet and many adults no longer have the enzymes to digest it, although your gut bacteria can… and create gas. Many various sugars and sugar alcohols are on the list in the comments. High fructose corn syrup (and fruit juices mostly fructose) are bad because fructose does not activate the satisfaction hormone, so you eat more. Also fructose is enzymatically handled by your body the same way that alcohol is, and is harder on your liver than sucrose or glucose. I could list a whole bunch more sugars, being a chemist, but 2/3rds of the list are various names for sucrose (table sugar) at various levels of refinement. I have used (in order of utility) mannitol, maltose, trehalose, sucrose, dextrose(glucose), fructose and a few other sugars in lyophilization (freeze drying) of pharmaceutical drug dosage forms during my career….. Mannitol being the most useful for freeze drying of drug containing liquids as it forms long thin needle crystals with lots of surface area within the dried cake that makes reconstitution of a drug vial in your doctor’s office much faster… generally under a minute.

Mentally it’s exhausting and there is so much conflicting info out there… Eat this, drink that. Don’t eat these, don’t drink those. I’ve already made several changes with positive major results. This is one of the most practical, helpful videos I’ve come across. Absolutely on point with what people struggle with mostly. I am very much against fad diets that require us to deprive ourselves of sugar in order to lose weight. I just purchased frozen pomegranate seeds from the Great Canadian Superstore for the first time and have been obsessed! I have been loving them, I even mix them in a small bowl with frozen mango and drizzle almond butter on top. It sounds so weird but it seriously so good!

Honestly my body just prefers natural food over processed like I LOVE dried fruit over sweets because it’s JUST TASTES SOO MUCH BETTER in my opinion
