HERE is what aggravates the heck out of me… everything Dr Knobbe says here makes perfect sense, and is clearly demonstrated by the research presented. He mentions we STORE the Omega 6, but can’t use it for energy. So how DOES one metabolize built-up Omega 6 stored fat?
In trying to dig deeper on that… the very first result I noticed (which didn’t answer my question but gave rise to the aforementioned aggravation) was this piece, from HARVARD no less.

My favourite healthy snack, I take one and a half frozen bananas, preferably ripe, they are sweeter, add about 10 mls or brewed coffee, some vanilla extract, 2 table spoons of unsweatened cocoa powder. And mix in a food processor. BEST THING EVER! and it’s about 180 calories

Thought I’d add some conversions for the US peeps and write down the instructions so it’s easier to follow (some might not be exact but close enough):
This is just for the carrot cake since it’s the one I’m trying for now:)
Wet ingredients:
1 egg
1/4 cup egg whites
1/5 cup sugar free maple syrup
1/5 cup yogurt
Dry ingredients:
1/2 cup coconut flour
1/3 cup protein powder
Lots of cinnamon
3/4 cup shredded carrots
Preheat oven to 320F
Grate carrots
Mix wet ingredients
Mix dry ingredients (add a bit of stevia)
Add wet ingredients into dry
Add shredded carrots
Add a sprinkle of baking powder and almost milk
Bake for 25-30 mins
Icing
Mix 2/3 cup yogurt, 1/8 cup ricotta/cream cheese, 2 tsp honey, & cinnamon, put in fridge while cake bakes
Tbh the lemon cheesecake are more like lemon pana cotta (because there are no crumbs)
Any alternative for protein powder? also can I use honey instead of maple syrup?

I’d like to add, the first snack isn’t low calorie in my opinion, 188 for vegan 167 for non vegan plus 130 in graham crackers or 23 for a rice thin still makes them both around 200 or more depending what you choose, It is lower than an average dessert yes & I do like the creativity of the video but I would just say lower calorie version of great snacks not “low calorie” but again only my opinion I did highly appreciate the video!

Seed oils are mentioned as bad while animal fats are mentioned as being good, but I didn’t see a clear mention of which group the coconut and avocado fall in. One of the healthy example populations was being mentioned eating coconut, which is also in other sources considered being the good ones like the animal fats but they still contain a lot of the Omega-6 oils that seed oils contain.
Is it the Omega-6 and the Omega-3 ratio in avocados and coconuts the “saving” factor for them or what?

Just made the mini cheesecake (used raspberry instead of lemon) and it’s SO SO good! also subbed cottage cheese for ricotta (what I had on hand) and it came out to only 67 cal/portion and 10.8 grams of protein per serving. DEFINITELY going to be making that one again. Thanks for the recipes!
My favorite air fryer dish is whole grain pita pizzas. Turkey pepperoni and fat free mozzarella. Less then 400 calories for 2 pizzas if you split the pita in half.

We lost our Dad 9 years ago, due to Westernized diet, and my 61 year-old sister 2 years ago, due to Westernized diet and seed oils; and in my 24 years of ophthalmology practice, I watched hundreds of patients lose vision to AMD, and 2 or 3 go entirely centrally blind due to macular degeneration. I have trouble talking about the latter, publicly, because it is so emotional for me. Watching someone go blind is tragic, but it’s also a travesty, because now I understand that it is entirely preventable.
For those who believe that, “Well, we didn’t have all of this disease heart disease, cancer, and macular degeneration (AMD), back in the 19th and early 20th centuries, because we didn’t live long enough,” well, that is a belief that is due to extreme misinformation.
In fact, in the U.S. alone, in the year 1850, the “Estimated Life Tables For the United States, 1850-1900” by Michael R. Haines, Historical Paper No 59, National Bureau of Research, published in 1994, for example, shows that in 1850, for both sexes, 43% of the population was alive past age 50-54, 28% alive past age 65-69, 15% alive past age 75-79, and 9% alive past age 80. While I agree with the message that industrial processed oils are bad, most of the arguments Dr. Knobbe brought were manipulative at best and insufficient to draw any scientific conclusion from. You can’t compare two random populations with with entirely different diets, lifestyles and uneven level of disease / death documention, and conclude those differences are entirely due to industrial oil consumption. It’s just wrong, misleading and undermines his whole presentation and credibility for me.
They also sell the sugar free jello in individual packs so you don’t have to wait 4 hours for it to be ready, I bring them to my lunch at work almost every day!

I’ve personally made the cup cheese ‘cake’, it’s more like a spongey mousse, very good though! I’ve also made the carrot cakes supplementing fiber for the protein powder. Needless to say they came out very good

I’m am truly thankful for this. We use butter, Ghee and lard mainly but never knew the severity of other oils. Shared this with 10 people I know who might find this interesting. Problem is that we make products to from crops that we have abundance of to drive economy and rather that have economy adapt to our diet they want us to adopt to their product nomatter the cost. Is there a possibility that Doctors of the late 19th and early 20th century were unable to diagnose heart disease and cancer die to lack of advanced medical knowledge? knowledge lacking due to a variety of factors: electricity was new and not avaliable everywhere, international travel was difficult, air travel did begin until 1919 and not to mention motorcars we rare in comparison to Horse drawn carriages.
What I am missing is what happens if one ditches the seed oils after 50 years of believing those were the healthier choice and switch to butter, lard and beef tallow. Is the omega 6 content of tissues going down to healthy levels or is the damage done?

Omega 3 and Omega 6 is required for humans and can only come from what we eat, our bodies don’t make them. Both of these fats are healthy if you get them from whole foods. It’s only the adulterated Omega 3 and Omega 6 that are unhealthy.
The part around 40 minutes about FructoseDon’t think you can really say fructose is protective. Fructose doesn’t have a strong effect on insulin levels, but it is usually consumed in conjunction with glucose which does. While Fructose won’t show up as much when testing blood sugar levels, it is wreaking havoc on your liver and causing insulin resistance there.
I have yet to make anything that tastes good in my Air fryer. Wasted money if you like food to taste good.

It’s too bad that MDs are no longer real doctors. They used to have to be (i.e. do a thesis, which means that they’d have to understand research methods, advanced stats, etc.). We wouldn’t have narcissists like this one blathering on about how he’s found the panacea.
You could also make your own popcorn on the stove, instant pot, or popcorn maker for the microwave ((that’s what I have)) and then dress it by measuring out butter or olive oil and salt it up!! But the point is you can dress it how you want to! I like to snack on fruit and almonds!

I think Dr. Knobbe is on to something huge, and I want to thank him for his presentation. I still agree with Dr. Lustig that HFCS in beverages especially are harmful, but the pieces fit together nicely. I think the reason Low Carb, Keto, I/F are good is that they also are reducing/eliminating the processed foods and we eat healthy fats… I always had some skepticism about these “Heart Healthy” Veggiterrible oils… One principle I latched on to a long while ago was JERF = Just Eat Real Food.

Now it’s clear, it depends on the fats one eats. Keto is no processed food basically and so is low carb resulting in less seed oils. THANK YOU, maybe now I can lose some weight!

The problem with many of these presentations is they are too long. They are not too long for people who are realizing our recommended diets are horrible. They are too long to get people who believe seed oils, margarine, fruit juice, low fat, and grains are healthy. It is near impossible to get those people to listen when the “know” what they were taught as kids has to be right. The people who most need this information will never get it.

I have been assiduously avoiding all seed oils for years including no olive oil-strictly butter and coconut or mct-stopped dining out years ago, and eat no processed foods. But still am stuck with regards to weight loss despite initial success with keto and then carnivore. I feel like my body effortlessly dropped the first 50 pounds on keto-it just burned off my GOOD saturated fats? And the 50-year backlog of PUFA ancient contamination is what I am stuck with? Because even long block fasting does not budge it! IF doesnt work either. I came to conclusion that its poisoned fat and my body DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO GET RID OF IT!!! Anybody out there know how to get rid of this garbage???

You are right. Rarely a doctor will study so much, to be able to help people.. It is a privilege for us, to be able to partake of your knowledge.We were vegetarians for about 30 years, and vegans for 30 years. We never smoked, never used drugs, never smoked, never drank alcohol., but we were overweight and unhealthy. We thought we were on a good, healthy diet, but I had doubts, because I noticed that people who ate meat, butter, were slimmer and healthier. I had a stroke at 68, and my husband is battling insulin resistance. Of course we used seed oils. We learned from mistakes, and changed our diet, but the damage was done. I know a family who ate mostly butter and meat, and veggies, and they are the same age with us, but are healthy. We thought we were better, but we were mistaken. Thank you, for your efforts in helping people.

Sooo, coconut oil and grass fed suet? Grass fed lard? Is that it? I’m implying the grass-fed part of it from his picture. Where do you find grass-fed suet and lard? They’re not particularly neutral flavors either, so have limited versatility. A good presentation, but I’m at a loss how to apply it in my case.

Utter garbage. In fact a little bit of oil around a tablespoon is very beneficial. Roy Swank discovered this when he treated MS patients. He lived over 99 years. Of course seed oils that are heated and in high quantities are detrimental.
I trie the roll ups. They didn’t work well with corn tortillas. But the few flour I made were good. Any tips for using corn tortillas? My wife and daughter have celiac.
Those cooking sprays have calories man, don’t go overboard. If you look at the serving size, it’ll say 1/4th of a second for spraying. When the calories are low enough, they allow you to round down to 0 but it’s not actually a 0 calorie spray. So imagine getting 5 calories for every 1/4th second you spray or 20 calories every second on everything you’re spraying.

There is not even such a thing as “vegetable oil.” there are animal fats, fruit oil and industrially produced seed oils and we get served up a term like veg oil, chemically extracted and deodorized from grass and grain seeds, and we’re supposed to associate it with health.
