I’ve just started physical activity and was thinking about acquiring a fitness tracker with HR monitoring so I’d able to track my progress and keep myself motivated through it. I had the Fitbit Charge HR at the top of my list, but I ended up giving up on acquiring that or any model currently available since most of them seem to compromise on the accuracy, which I consider to be the most important aspect. So right now I am seriously considering just acquiring a Polar H6 or H7 and calling it a day, as it would give me a more accurate picture of my calorie burning and exercise effectiveness during my training with no accuracy compromise. Do you think that would be a good option?

You’ll be fine cutting calories pretty low. As much as Joe loves to push training over genetics, genetics has a lot to do with how your body responds to diet. If I eat 2000 calories a day I will get fat as fuck. I have to live around 1500 or less. I realized this when I got out of the Marine Corps and gained 50lbs in what felt like one night. My diet didn’t change. It was pretty normal 2Kish calories, 3 meals a day kind of diet. I don’t eat junk, I don’t drink, no drugs. I have to train like a damn marathon runner to eat what a normal person eats without getting fat. Genetically I am predisposed to storing calories. But I am fine, and more healthy when I eat less
actually if you eat more times a day but smaller portions its better for your body because it needs to digest it so it kickstarts your metabolism and therefor you burn more. If you end up feeling hungry or have like 3 big meals a day where you feel either very full after them or very hungry between them it’s not healthy. I’ve tried it for myself while being under control of professional nutricionists and I can confirm that this is true and i lost around 12 kg in 2 months (I was also lightly working out) and in the end they had to even “stop” me from losing weight by making me eat more rice, pasta and similar stuff because it could be dangerous /i was quite young/

And it’s kind of your parents fault. If they fed you a lot when you were younger your used to big meals, plus after you hit puberty your body will always try to go back to that weight. Am a big fan when it comes with cardio and in fact I do a jump rope session once a week for at least 45 mins. I always thought that cardiovascular fitness is more important than building muscle (its my opinion) because as we get older especially over 40’s we realise that our heart needs to be kept in good condition. I have been told numerous of occasions that I should avoid doing high intensity cardio because it leads to overtraining and I won’t recover for my next session, however, I realise these words are coming from young “kids.” But when I approach to a older guy he always tells me that I must do cardio for overall health. Why??? Why do I always get word of conflict over “cardio?”

Guys, burn fat does not have to be hard (I used to feel it did). I’ll give you some advice right now. Look for a diet plan called Custokebon Secrets. Seriously, that course has changed my entire life. I used to eat out of boredom pretty frequently on the weekends (since I’m at school for most of the day anyway on weekdays and wouldn’t really have time even if I wanted to) but funnily enough quarantine has actually helped me stop since I’m home so much that I’m bored of boredom eating….
Just a quick comment but I wouldn’t recommend having gum to kill hunger cravings because it makes sense in theory but it can actually really confuse your gut. It makes it think that there is food coming and when the food doesn’t come it can cause the gut/body to go into survival mode because it thinks it’s not getting enough nutrients from the food you are eating (which you aren’t) this can cause your body to hold on to excess fat thinking it is helping aid in your survival.
It also yes can get rid of hunger cravings but often increases your appetite when you do get food so you eat more food than you normally would.
Again this is always a case by case basis so you can always test it out for yourself. Cheers

Am I the only person who does not enjoy flavored water? I will sometimes force myself to drink lemon water in the morning to help boost my immune system for the day, but I don’t enjoy it. I actually really enjoy normal water. I don’t know, I just haven’t seen a lot of people who feel this way.

It’s straight forward actually. You either eat barely anything and lose weight or you eat a healthy and exercise. I recommend the second but I do the first. In fact I do the first and add exercise to it. That’s only because I have nothing else to challenge me with all the coronavirus stuff going on. I run in the green fields like the Irishman I am and I eat an apple and have a chicken breast or some kind of fish depending on the day and that’s it.

I work in a care home, 12hr shifts and oh my god the amount of junk food that is just available all the time because we have them for the residents too, like packs and packs of biscuits, boxes full of all different chocolate bars, 5 huge boxes of crisps all different varieties, ice creams and frozen treats, full fat full sugar yoghurts, cakes, flapjacks, cheesecake. literally everything bad, and THEN residents families will bring in boxes of chocolates or something, then sometimes management will bring in doughnuts or something..

I have no problem with exercising. Maybe I might have been doing the wrong kind of exercises. I was doing a lot weight based training and I noticed I was actually getting heavier. My aim was to be fit but also lose a little bit of weight. After watching another video from you I realized what I was doing wrong. So now I’m doing more cardio exercises. Let’s see how it goes

The struggle is that my parents take control of what i eat. I want to eat healthier but they would not allow me to (but not in a bad way) like, i want to stop eating rice but they wouldn’t allow me cuz it will be bad for my health. It is better to drink just plain water instead of flavored because when you add flavor you don’t receive all the water nutrients because the water goes down as food.

I’m on the heavy side like 380 pnds does the Fitbit HR account for that when you first set it up? The reason I’m asking is the amount of calories it shows burned throughout the day it seems high to me. My job has me going up and down steps and walking throughout a 12 hour shift but my days off it seems to show 3000 or so burned can that be right?

Counting calories is useless. It’s better to use other measurments like the scale, mirror, clothing size ect.
For those who can’t diet, something that really helped me was putting in an specific time of the day (that I would be eating sth unhealthy) a fruit, for example I always start studying at 4pm so before I start I always eat an apple. I made that a habit and now I don’t eat any chocolates near that time and instead I replaced it with something healthy. I think that instead of making drastic changes in your diet you should start replacing each thing for something healthier until you get used to it and you’re not craving the unhealthier option anymore

Dudes, I love you guys. I feel like I’m a long lost brother of you dudes.
I went from 180 to 152 as of today.
This is my tip from my experience.
1. Cut off any drinks that arent water(if u like alcohol save it for cheat meal)
2. STOP EATING CARBS! Your trying to lose fat so why you going to eat carbs? (Unless you get them from veggies)
3. Eat real and lean meats(no ham and shit like that)
4. Eat more veggies then meat man, stop bieng picky your not 5 anymore(i boil broccoli and cauliflower)
5. Only eat 3 times a day(you aint a master lifter why tf you need more then that?)
6. Do cardio everyday.
7. Cheat meal every 14 days to keep you sane(not cheat day)

I really dont know which one to get. I have watched most of your videos now and i am at a loss and wish for your assistance. I am just now starting to workout and i am currently using myfitnesspal to track my diet. I do alot of cardio and some lifting, nothing major just the typical little weight lots of reps. I want something that is accurate, comfortable and i would like it to track my sleep. For what i am doing though i just dont know what features are important. I am a little chunky, want to lose weight but at the same time get tone. Any help is appreciated.

What’s the best way to keep track of calories when you’re making meals and mixing different foods and ingredients? I feel like that’s where I lose track of my calories. I started out at 202 and I’m down to 196 but can’t get under 190. Going into week 6 of the cutting plan I’m pretty determined to drop but I think the meals are killing me.
