For those on keto diet, you are consuming carbs through the veg you eat. You are very likely consuming more carbs than you think you are. Your experience of weight lost, health improvement, and heightened energy may have more to do with IF than consuming low carbs. Keep in mind the longest living people are all doing IF typically one meal a day and eating whole foods mostly plant based with some meat and fish couple times a week. Haven’t heard of anyone living over 100 healthy on strict keto, yet.
Myth 2 may be based off of some truth. In that digesting food while sleeping effects sleep. Disrupts deep sleep. May have blood sugar drop in the A.M. results in poor or over eating. prolonged sleep disruption ( sleep loss) aids in weight gain and generally poor decisions. Also late eating may be stress related and thus crappy. But no, eating after 6, or 8 or whatever doesn’t just make fat.

Humans evolved to be omnivores. We eat plants and meat.
Show us your athletic survival skills compared to someone who eats meat.
Otherwise, let the fittest survive. That’s called “Science”.
They taught us Darwinism in school. Deal with it.
To reinforce his point about fats don’t make you fat:
Insulin: causes WEIGHT gain
Carbs: INCREASES insulin
Fats: LOWERS insulin
The math is simple guys, even saturated fats are healthy because our skin is almost made entirely of saturated fats, do you want to look 10 years older? Lol ok
This is excellent advice. I’m 59, vegan 3 years, 50% raw vegan. I am 5 ft 3 in and 170 pounds. I don’t really look fat but have too much tummy weight. I lost 10 pounds of COVID lockdown weight so far just by having a green smoothie each day with chick peas or other beans added and not cheating by ordering pizza. LOL But I have plateaued at 170. I have been having salads with lots of EV olive oil and eating prepackaged sweetened oatmeal plus adding brown sugar. Since drinking the green smoothies, my blood pressure is almost back to normal (135/85). I take no medications. I eat within a 6 hour window.. I walk with my dogs on my property everyday. But it is really hard to lose weight at my age. I’m able to lose a pound every 2 weeks. I am trying to get down to 140. I used to weigh 110-120 in college but I think those days are well behind me now.. I think it will take me about a year from now to get to 140. I like what you said about jumpstarting metabolism with a water fast. I am also going to pull back my eating window to 4 hours. Thanks for all the good advice and knowledge.
I worked 2nd shift for over 10 years, so much #2 troubled me. But I think the rathionale.is that if a person eats too close to bedtime, they cannot burn off those calories.
Good video! I hit a plateau. I’ve lost 18 lbs 6 inches on my waste. I still have 10 more lbs to lose. This makes so much since. I will have to eliminate peanut butter, sauces, and avocados. I will have to eliminate it until I hit my goal.
Except he is wrong on every level. I am a type 1 who is on a carnivore diet and when I need to bring up my bg I just eat some meat and I’m fine. I have been on it a year and my body is a good weight, my liver is no longer fatty, my cholesterol is perfect. There is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate. Btw the brain runs best on cholesterol and ketones. I’m living proof as much as any other who has been on this diet
So why do you have a vegetable smoking like its a bad idea to smoking when my people have smoke for millions of years
Horse shit! Bacon consumption 51 increase in diabetes. I was Nutrition pyramid dieter borderline pre diabetes. One month eating bacon and eggs. No diabetes diabetes. Fixed it. Doctor wanted to know what I took. Who funded study? Who created it, yes cardiologist who have been promoting no saturated fat diet for 50 years. You really believe they are in anyway going to contradict themselves, major lawsuits if they ever say, oops we got it wrong. Cardiologists in Australia when they talk about heart disease don’t public talk about diet anymore, it’s all about exercise now. Strange that!
Is there an adventist vegan control group now? Last time I heard it was vegetarian at reliably best. (Loma Linda?)
If you still eat processed foods (like gardein) you are not vegan you are vegitarian.
I actually have diet of vodka and deep fried oreos and I’m thriving
I love this video. Here are the facts annnd here are some blog posts that say otherwise. Seriously how can anyone ignore medical studies an just pay attention to some blog on the internet.
Idk what this guy is talking about..I eat alot of carbs and such….and when i took my A1C I become type 2.
I went on a Carb diet because my diet is why i became type 2 diabetic. Just switching to low carb diet i was able to
lose weight, control my sugar level from 280+ down to 110 average, and my A1C test came out that im no longer type 2
diabetic.
So idk what this guy is saying but me doing a 30g carb a day has worked for me.
2 years vegan. Blood protein levels way above average as well as essential amino acids and vitamins. Also in the best shape of my life. Thanks for busting this myth to all your followers Jeff!
Darn it, was about to make the transition and tuck into a nice, big poison ivy salad. Guess I’ll lower the health risks and just stick with my burger and fries instead.
Love the video but FAT the good ones are so important for women especially! Do not eliminate all fats for the sake of slim figure!
As with most things, moderation is the key word. You wont die from eating a donut topped with chocolate and frosting. However doing this day in day out and not just one but several will eventually lead to obesity and most likely diabetes, since most will chuck that down with sugared water like soda, sports or energy drinks. I hate this idea of black and white, for some reason there aint much in the middle. I eat considerably less meat, but i still do it. I eat eggs and hardly fish. I eat predominately veggies. I do eat white bread, i do eat refined sugar and yes i use olive oil, but all in moderation.
I don’t get the stigma against late dinners. If anything, I’d assume that eating early makes you more prone to snacking before bed
Potatoes have a glycemic index of about 90. Table sugar only has a GI of 59…
To be honest I don’t mind them working out if an unhealthy vegan diet in the sense of focusing in on processed foods and white bread is as bad as a SAD. Since a lot of vegans don’t eat healthy it’s good to know if just being vegan makes someone healthy even if they don’t eat perfect.
Myth: jogging is not a good exercise. If jogging can give you overload principle, it is a fantastic exercise that is not only approachable but will increase your leg strength and core strength and build your metabolism throughout the day if you jog in the morning. Too many times I see a super rip Dude saying that jogging is not going to help you lose weight or become fit and that’s false. While cardio does not inherently itself make you lose fat, it does increase your metabolic rate. Jogging may not bring overload principle to someone like Jeff but for someone who is out of shape and obese jogging is a very approachable exercise to get that overload principle.
Can someone tell me how you can eat 200 grams of protein a day.
He did say 1gram per pound
All low carbers must have died a sudden death due to the fact that they have driven their bodies metabolically into ketosis and have no sugar for their brains to function. They are all vegetables. Wait wait wait. Maybe just Maybe our brains are benefiting from years of evolution and we have the ability to run on a different type of fuel when we run out of carbs. (lucky for the human race) What if we start using our body fat for fuel by being in ketosis and running on ketones. Alleluia. Keeping the carbs low keeps your insulin low and promotes autophagy.
My father 82yo who is Type 2 was on 74 units insulin 6 months ago now takes none. Any potato will spike his sugar and insulin. Wearing a Continuous Glucose Meter tells me what suits him and what doesn’t. High carb plants spikes his sugar level. Leafy greens broccoli cauliflower spinach cabbage nuts avocado olive oils keep his sugar level relatively flat 24/7 mod protein fish etc
As much as I wish Jeff was vegan, it’s even more powerful to have a non-vegan like him tell it like it is… eating meat is a choice, not a necessity.
“But where do you get your protein?” there are 300,000 types of edible plants. Plants have protein. Vegans say no to perhaps a handful of different animal meats/products when going vegan. Source: https://www.newscientist.com/article/mg22730301-400-the-nature-of-crops-why-do-we-eat-so-few-of-the-edible-plants/
“But you need to supplement!” have you MET the non-vegan supplement industry? How many of the supplements on the shelves are targeted toward vegans? Oh, B12? You get yours from ‘meat’? Do you know where your ‘meat’ gets it? Guess what… supplements! Yup: https://www.agric.wa.gov.au/livestock-biosecurity/cobalt-deficiency-sheep-and-cattle
“But my friend’s teeth fell out, my third cousin twice removed lost her hair, every vegan I’ve met is too damn skinny!” News flash, yes it’s possible to eat poorly, whether on a vegan diet or otherwise. The burden of disease associated with unhealthy non-vegan diets is enormous. As alarming or provocative as some n=1 anecdotes may be, we have science we can and should turn to to answer the question of whether a vegan diet is healthy not unverified, undocumented individual stories.
And yup, the science is clear a vegan diet (when properly carried out) can reduce the risk of several health issues, and is generally healthy for all life stages and phases including childhood and pregnancy. Don’t take my word for it. The American Dietetic Association (and the Canadian, Australian, UK associations…) has made it clear with over 200+ peer-reviewed studies supporting their statement: https://jandonline.org/article/S0002-8223(09)00700-7/fulltext
I totally agree with you but about the oil, yes our ancestors did all die
You literally did not mention ketones once.. which is the entire argument.. you just said carbs do this.. bloody bias I feel way better keto than high carb do your research people
What about people with eating disorders that are terrified of oil. The mental health benefits of not being terrified of oil greatly outweigh the dangers of ocasional oil in restaurants etc
Yes, you’re going to have a big problem getting enough fiber with a ketogenic diet.
Excellent video. I started following Chef Aj two years ago. Tried her 21 day challenge and lost 12 lbs. Just like that. But I’m on and off again. Trying to get motivated again. Thank you for this video!:)) Time to get back on track!
Ppl who try to discredit vegans are just trying to convince themselves their diet isn’t as bad
The worst in all of this is that I’m sure there are plenty of personal trainers who try to advise their clients the complete opposite
I’m the same. Sometimes when I kind of feel iffy about working out; I take my pre work out and just show up and up doing what I set up to do. Showing up really is half the battle and sometimes a supplement could push you as reason to do it.
Not saying it’s entirely a healthy way of thinking (because it kind of moonlights as a addiction problem) but it’s definitely a good start.
Love ya Lean!
The Vegan Starvation Religion has no nutritional basics.. No plant has Vitamin A, B6(Pyridoxal, Pyridoxamine), B12, D, F, K2, CoQ10, 4 essential amino acids like Creatine, Taurine, Carnitine, Carnosine and 3 essential fatty acids like Eicosapentaenoic Acid, Docosahexaenoic Acid, Arachidonic Fatty Acids.. These 22 carbon long chain fatty acids are brain food and without these fatty acids your brain will deteriorate..
That processed garbage shouldn’t be considered “plant based.”
I am ‘thinking’ about changing my diet over to a much healthier one. I have a question… How then do you fry things if you dont use a little oil or margarine? I do use a nonstick pan but always feel as though the veggies need something when frying them up.
Ok but can you pretty please find or fund a study that examines processed vegan diets vs standard american diets? Or vs unprocessed omnivore diets? I am doing terribly as a vegan based on all of the junk food I eat and I want to know is it any better health-wise than my family that still eats animal products? Thank you.
Thanks Mic! Another great video. The funny thing about the truth is that it doesn’t go away…
This is where I’m gonna disagree with you. You see, with your own eyes that vegans are NOT healthy. You call a protein a protein, when its not. You have obviously not played with this & a lack of meat based proteins to your own diet to notice a difference. There is a most definitely a difference. Especially in power. Test it yourself, on yourself if you don’t believe me. Your body evolved 16 of the 32 teeth in your mouth, for animal eating purposes. Sure you’ll build muscle, but ONLY TO A POINT….Then the breakdown is going to happen. Show me 1 healthy vegan Jeff & I’ll show you a liar. We both know that fucker is not healthy. We BOTH know this.
I’m afraid of gaining from the carb consumption. I’ve been on this 4 says and am noticing water retention. I’m not eating oils, no fats other than the veggies / starches. Sugar is a little fruit every day. I aure hope this works for me? Is gaining at first normal?
“Study shows” (insert whatever outcome you want). No shortage of studies out there. What all these people miss is that our individual bodies respond differently to different dietary intakes. What works for one may not for another. Vegan is fine for some, but may not meet the needs of others. Anyone promoting a “one size fits all” diet is guilty of fraud. I believe that eating the food that increases your energy and makes you feel better is probably the right choice.
This doctor is full of shit. I’m on a keto diet and I have reversed type 2 diabetes of clients just putting them on keto. Epilepsy stops with keto. This guy is a moron. I never felt so healthy and so strong before.
Some people seem to forget the definition of the word “supplement”. I have known a few people who have the illusion that taking supplements, without dieting or exercise, will somehow yield them results.
what about plant-based milks? they are processed but are they calorie-dense? I don’t drink a lot but I do consume it at-libitum, I don’t pay attention to the quantity. is that ok? thanks for all your videos!
So happy to hear him bring up the vegan myth. One obvious example I often use, when people ask, is to mention that the largest, strongest, longest living land animals on the planet are vegan. Think about the cattle, elephants, etc.
Great video, I just previous watched Jeff Novick prior to your video. But I have a question. I have just become type 2 diabetic. I feel it is due to prednisone I had to take for asthma and clearing lungs. So it makes blood sugar rise and also high blood pressure. So My question is; would the ketosis you speak of be dangerous for diabetics. I want to revers these ailments. I know losing weight will do this and I am basically willing to give my best efforts and try this new system to me.
I learned that veganism causes obesity in doctors/nutrition experts goatee disguise notwithstanding.
Hey mic the vegan. Irrelevant to the video but what are your thoughts on ethical or ahimsa milk? Hare krishna’s are the closest I have seen to veganism in a religion. They have zero animal products except for milk that comes from their own cows that they milk themselves.
They claim that the baby grows up getting all its milk and they milk the cows afterwards because they claim also that cows give them milk when they are feeling loved and also go as far to say, some cows lactate milk years after the baby is off the mothers breast milk because they have affection for the owners.
What are your thoughts on this?
The Adventists study takes religious community as an example of vegan. The largest harvard study on health showed that most precise predictor of health are not cholesterol or diet, but self-reported quality or human relations, people that are happy within their communities, whether it a bingo club or a church, are most healthy. Other thing is ‘vegan’ might be descriptive for a moral standpoint but it’s completly usless term when it comes to health issues. French fries and beer are vegan. Healthy diet would fall into categories of: fresh(no bacterial and fungal toxis, containing enzymes), whole foods, low glicemic load(not index), no oxidized fat, plant based. The rest as ratio of proteins/fat/carbs or protein source are much dabatable. There is just a lot of bad, incomplete science out there.
There is no equality in fried(oxidized fat with many cancerous byproducts) grown on antibiotics, hormons, corn fed(altered fat composition), cancerous viruses infected meat to grass fed or lab grown invitro clones. Either there is none in gmo, glyphosate soaked potato fries to fresh superfood veggies grown on hi quality soil, without any artificial preservatives sprayed on them. Dangers of meat are real, but ‘vegan’ diet either.
I dont know if its just me but if I eat a small amount of chocolate right before I go to sleep I will burn fat while sleeping. Ive actually factored in my sleep routine to weight loss and keeping weight off. Like I said. Not sure if its just a weird thing with me but I discovered sleep is just as important as everything else in burning fat and keeping it off.
refined grains and sugar (vegetarian) is bad for you we can agree, industrial farmed animals are bad for you we can agree. But moderate amount of animal protein humanly raised, is a nutrient dense food that has sustained humans in all corners of the world through history. There is countless histories of people recovering their health on a paleo diet or a ketogenic diet. This argument that meat is bad for you made by vegans is only convincing vegans to keep eating vegan, many times looking for products that resemble meat…biological cravings?
Bacon isn’t evil nor is meat in general and it doesn’t cause Diabetes. The Keto diet, aka 70%+ of calories coming from fats is used to treat Diabetes.
Pls tell me whether I should eat whole eggs or egg whites only
The whiteboy looks a little befuddled. He doubt what the blackman is saying. His bubble burst when he was given a lesson on potatoes.
I am a type 2 diabetic. As a retired RN, I have taken care of a lot of diabetics as well. I don’t follow a keto diet, I do follow a low carb diet, and most of the carbs I do eat are real foods like potatoes. My A1C stays between 6.0 to 6.4. I know that could be lower, that is after 10 years on Metformin with 3 dosage changes and no other diabetic meds or insulin. Keto recipes are great for desserts and breads, especially using nut flour/meat to bake with. Low carb is better for people who are carb sensitive and not just diabetic
It’s frightening how massively misinformed most of the population is
Plant based is the most healthy diet everyone, make sure you eat enough calories, make sure you get your nutrients, but go plant based
So ketchup is the same as seracha? Is soy better than almond milk? Is pb2 ok?
I get that you don’t need to count the calories. However, I kinda enjoy going through the process of weighing my food and knowing exactly how much I eat.
The cheese sauce link is broken. I am not a vegan but plan eating a whole food diet predominantly. Currently a major part of my diet is eggs and cheese. I can imagine that cheese is a big no no but what about eggs?
At the 1:33 mark, the overweight and sugar overdosed doctor gives it away. The brain uses 25% of the energy in the form of SUGAR! then tries to backtrack to the carbs nickname. The medical definition of carbs is “carbs are sugars, starches, and fiber”. https://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=15381. The brain runs on Glucose, agreed. But the body can make its own glucose in the absence of sugar via gluconeogenesis. Eating “Low-Carbs” is eating low sugar, low starches, and low fiber. Period. And when there’s no sugar being eaten, the body creates glucose for the brain and body’s energy needs by tapping into the “energy reserves” in the body fat but breaking down fat into glucose. At 3:28 it’s a lie… The brain runs on Glucose… Not carbohydrates, time 3:54 the body does not run on starches, it runs on Glucose. 4:00 grease does not go into the fat cells. 4:17 remove carbs and lose weight is true, but only to an extent? 4:40 studies? Which ones? And what makes sense? The brain needs glucose and the body can make glucose from stored body fat. 4:50 yes you’ll lose weight, but what’s the point of leaving a thin corpse? Listen to that again. At 5:30 when carbohydrates are surrounded by fiber (remember that carbohydrates are sugars, starches, and fiber) now that sugar is “magically” protected. At the 6:37 mark, the doctor explains how all so-called healthy carbs (potatoes) are basically starches waiting to be broken down into sugars and then into glucose in the body and some like the Russett potato is too high in starch and will cause high blood sugar levels. At the 7:30 mark, he explains that even though root vegetables have (uh, uh, carbohydrates, meaning sugars) the fiber modulates (slows down absorption). My note on this point. The speed of which sugar is processed has nothing to do with the amount of sugar process. A slow overdose of sugar is the same as a fast overdose of sugar. At 7:50. All carbs are not equal? All carbs are defined chemically as neutral compounds of carbon, hydrogen. Bad foods with carbs and good food with carbs… yes! Bad carb, good carb no. 8:10 mark, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde? Really? At the chemical level, Carbohydrates are neutral compounds of carbon, hydrogen. Carbs go from good to bad because with grind them up? At the chemical level, Carbohydrates remain neutral compounds of carbon, hydrogen no matter how we process them. Sugars, starches, and fiber. 11:24 Refined juices are bad? It’s not refined juices that are bad, it’s the excess amount of sugar in the juice. Processed fruit juices have identical amounts of carbs (sugars) as freshly squeezed juices.
There is so much evidence out there that says limit the Carbs. This Doctor needs to stop the lying along with the rest of the AMA Con Artists!
So much myths were killed that I litterally got a funeral insurance ad right under this vid:o
How do you calculate your caloric maintenance level? I’ve never counted my calories, I have always worked out hard and I watch what I eat more carefully now, opposed to high school/college when my metabolism was faster.
so you have a masters in nutrition this Doctor is not as qualified as you when it comes to nutrition. He should be asking you about carbs.
Thank you for the perfect video that I can share with my family and friends who just don’t understand the concept of a WFPB lifestyle and calorie density. You’ve made this easy to grasp.
Processed vegan food has to be the most contradicting shit ever.
Did he just said protein will make you fat???? Jeff just stay in the training area please don’t touch subjects you’re not entirely familiar with
I did keto for a year and it was fine. Once I became pregnant that’s when my health went downhill. I ended up so sick that I had to be hospitalized for malnutrition and dehydration in my third trimester. You see my doctor wasn’t aware I was doing keto while pregnant because everything I read said it was great for pregnancy. Come to find out my baby was actually being poisoned by the excess amount of ketones and depriving my body of everything just so he could grow and get some nutrients somewhere. I stopped the keto right away and added a more varied diet. Felt better after the first meal and the baby began thriving. I believe these restrictive diets are fine and probably better suited for men because they require less body fat than women to function. If you are a pregnant woman do not risk it. It really isn’t worth it. I was scolded by my doctor for doing this.
Great video you make some interesting points! This is however almost the opposite advice as given if following Intermittent Fasting, but whatever works for people (the common ground is vegetables, but it usually involves reducing carbs, healthy oils like extra virgin olive oil and avocados).
The diet you explain is for sure healthy and likely to be easier for most people to start with and stick to, as Intermittent Fasting (as I use and love) is only easy once your body learns to switch to fat burning without making you feel hungry (and you learn you need a pinch of salt when fasting once in a while and that water can stop the hunger and you drink lots of it).
I agree that complicated systems like calorie counting does not work. What ends up happening is that you feel like a failure for not being able to follow it, and you give up. Your subconsciousness wants you to be happy and knows what foods/drinks will cheer you up after a failure, so after a failure with too high expectations to yourself, you end up binge eating something you know you should not eat. It is okay to eat unhealthy occasionally (but of course not go down the slippery slope of saying “it is okay” too often).
Some people think fruit juice, e.g. Apple juice is healthy, but it will get you fat in record time, as one cup (240-ml) contains 114 calories and without the fiber in the apples, you can drink a lot more than you could eat in apples. Just switching to drinking water at meals instead of gulping down ½ a gallon of Coca Cola would reduce calorie intake drastically. The amount of sugar in everything is staggering, e.g. ketchup. So, yes just getting real food without MSG, sugar, excessive salt, GMO and all kinds of other chemicals is a great start (not that there is necessarily a problem with using GMO in itself, but it is a problem if it is used to make plants tolerate more weed killer, as it ends up in us!).
Thanks for another great video! Really appreciate all the effort you put into sharing your knowledge
I myself am not vegan, but I do eat about 95% plant based. A low fat plant based diet has plenty of health and environmental benefits, even if ur not vegan. Some people call my diet the blue zone diet.
bruh, your last name is Cavaliere (not cavalear) you should use the correct pronunciation.
Even if you’re right, which you are not, it’s too much work to maintain. And many people stopped The vegan Diet because they were experiencing Health issues, so..
Diet: Middle English: from Old French diete (noun), dieter (verb), via Latin from Greek diaita *a way of life*.
Lol how can anyone give this video a dislike? What don’t you like about it? Crazy stuff
Eating a metric sh!t ton of fat can’t make you fat. I get over 70 percent of my calories from animal fat. There’s not much fat on me. Carbs make you fat. I gain muscle easily on my diet. No protein supps or roids. Just meat, vit D and a couple other vits and minerals. Loads of water and sea salt.
It’s a ketogenic diet and it’s working far better than I expected with little effort. I’m afraid that if I started strength training, I’d get too ripped. For now, I’ll stick to my short HIIT workout and walk/jog.
With keto, it feels too easy.
I’m carnivore and it’s the best I’ve ever felt. 4 months in and down 13kgs. I’m not losing weight anymore due to weight training but clothes keep getting looser. Anyone struggling to lose fat should do it for 1 month and see how you feel. No sugar, no carbs just meat, milk and cheese if so inclined
Bruh lemme put y’all on, I’m telling you 1.2 lbs of fried chicken in olive oil, with a cup of basmati rice and grass fed butter, I’m tryna tell y’all I’ve ate it everyday for 3 weeks now and I’ve been lifting heavy weights watching Jeff’s videos, I’ve went from 155 lbs to 162 in a very short time, I’ve gained a little bit of fat sure but I’m not worried about that I can burn it off quickly with my hardgainer Metabolism, but the muscle density I’ve gained in such a short time is shocking to me
essentially what we r figuring out is two things are important.
1. Keeping insulin levels down (I.e intermittent fasting)
2. Whole plant based carbs (I eat 500-1000g of plant foods raw and cooked each day and I feel good on that in the context of a high protein moderate fat, intermittent fasting diet)
-but again, a temporary existence on ketones increases metabolic flexibility so you should be primed to do both, not one or the other.
The doctor has it slightly skewed.
Problem is the liver will suffer if you don’t do it correctly
Lmao why are the vegans thanking Jeff for mentioning vegans. Jeff thank you mentioning supplements it’s so dumb
Can you please do a video on why do I feel triggered by nuts and fruits like bananas?
This is such BS….If carbs are so essential to the brain…please explain the body’s use of Gluconeogenesis.
you come off just a little bit full of yourself….but for some strange reason I LOVE IT lmao
Low carb took me off 6 pills a day dropped my A1C too a 5.1 and 9 pills a day for bp… so he needs to so more studying. I agree with the whole foods part though. Keto works for me!
Damn so I lost 60 pounds on keto but now I’m having issues with bad brain fog…I think it’s time to increase my carb intake, lower the fat and make sure it’s good carbs. Brain fog sucks.
People are stubborn. They know that there is good and bad oils and ALL PROCESSED OILS are bad oils/Fats. Saying that oils are good is partially correct, but if you add processed oils to your food your in a wrong way.
Standing ovation! Sharing with everyone I know. This is so perfectly stated. Simple facts on optimal nutrition! Thank you for all you teach and give to the collective.
I really like all your videos! Just found your channel like a week ago and have low-key been binging on your videos all week.
what would you class low card diet tho? no carbs or some carbs under a certain amount.
Fish causes heart disease? Are you serious? What are you gonna say next, honey causes kidney cancer? As long as its from an animal its bad right, this is what the vegan industry wants everyone to believe. Fish is one of the healthiest foods in the history of foods, no vegan will ever change that, no matter how many ridiculous statements they make.
Your brief tangent on how bad animal products are made me laugh:-D You pulled yourself back ton topic quite well:)
Whenever you see a doctor interviewed on YouTube and they are wearing a white coat, know they are full of shit.
You are soooooo wrong. All of our ancient ancestors that did not consume oils are dead. DEAD.
You think a scientist should give veganism a pass. Just because the individual happens to be vegan?!?
THATS NOT HOW SCIENCE WORKS.
And you need oil to live. Your cells are actually made out of lipids. Which are fat. All of our ancestors gof fat from other sources. Oil means also eating olives.
There are good and not good oils.
Saturated and unsarurated.
Coconut and palm oil. Yeah are bad. Sunflower or olive oil. Yeah they are not. Of course deep frying something in them nah. But love me some olive oil as dressing cause vinegar sucks.
And lets be honest. A healthy meat eating diet doesnt contain a couple slices of bacon a day. A healthy meat diet contains maybe like 2 slices of it per week. Some eggs. Bread (aint vegan where i live). Some yoghurt. Chicken and fish. Those type of things.
What about ibs sufferers that don’t do well with high fibre foods?
Let me ask you a question. If you do not get sore when you workout…..will you muscles still grow?
The nytimes published an article called “Good Vegan, Bad Vegan” which basically makes the same conclusion while citing a study that doesn’t even include vegan participants.
This “Dr” has all of the visual signs of out of control glucose, dislipodemia, hyperinsulinemia, obesity… I think I have seen it all after listening to his pile of garbage. He obviously takes his own advice and is on an express train to pain. At least he’s not a hypocrite, he’s doing himself in along with anyone that is treated by him.
While i agree eating later doesn’t make you fat. It can effect fat reduction.
Another thing i notice as i get older is the inability to digest food remaing in the stomach after going to bed. If i eat heavy. foods late i get up the next morning bloated. This can effect metabolism. Which in turn can you effect weight gain with some people.
I see fiber as a very important element in the plant based diet for maintaining the healthy gut bacteria and for weight control. But there aren’t any videos on this important topic. Would love to see one that documents the health benefits of fiber and goes into the issue of how much fiber in a diet would be optimal. My cronometer initially told me that 30 grams of fiber was a baseline, but I’ve upped that to 90 grams. Is that reasonable? I don’t honestly know.
this guy……. why so extreme?… And I really, really disagree with the whole metabolism thing. when you eat less and less food your metabolism will adapt to that little bit of calories. right?
1st point is bullshittttttt and im sorry.
but i was fat and confused because no matter how much i cut back on calories my weight platues after a while and i rebound worse than before.
its because calorie count depends on insulin release. if you eat foods with high glycemic index aka, carbs and sugars, thats going to trigger an insulin release. insulon is an anabolic hormone, meaning, you’re literally telling your body to store all that energy you just consumed, and it gets stored as glycogen in your lover, muscles if you’re a body builder and fats in majority of people.
also cutting back on calories as a whole would lower your BMR to conserve energy and you’ll stagnate.
SO THE TRICK IF YOU ARE UNHAPPY WITH YOUR WEIGHT IS TO NOT CUT BACK ON CALORIES BUT RATHER ELIMINATE CARBS AND SUGARS FOR A GOOD WHILE AND DEPEND ON PROTIENS AND FATS, YOU’LL SWITCH TO KETOSIS AND START LOOSING EXCESS WATER INITIALLY BUT THEN YOU’LL LOSE FAT STORED IN YOUR BODY AND YOU’LL FINALLY BE ABLE TO LOOSE WEIGHT.
Let me ask u something so I know your soul…I have 21inch arms naturali 16% fat…naturally…do u believe that jeff?..do you?
if I eat 400 grams of potatoes then I’m good until the next meal. But if I cut back on the potatoes and add broccoli (trying to do 50/50 plate) then I get hungry sooner. ♀️ so I eat before the next meal.
It looks like this doctor needs to lose some weight himself. May his diet is not working too well for him! Just an observation, but I could be wrong.
Great video as always,Doc knows his thing so well.Just wondering how is he overweight, not taking the piss, serious question
“Eating Right” is highly subjective! For example, some people should eat bacon. Yet, to the health conscious layperson or religious group, bacon (pork) seems like a bad food item. And, it is—for most people. However, it may be good for you. The term used in the nutrition world to describe this phenomenon is Biochemical Individuality. Simply put, not everyone is biologically the same. This is the reason why certain well-tested medications work for certain individuals and not for others. Their individual biochemistry is compatible with that particular substance:
“Biochemical individuality is the concept that the nutritional and chemical make-up of each person is unique and that dietary and other needs therefore vary from person to person. People have unique biochemical profiles based upon their own genetic structure, nutrition and environment”. -Roger Williams, American Biochemist
Food is no different! We can achieve the same exact nutritive value (protein) we get from lamb meat, hempseed, fish or soy as with bacon (if bacon happens to be a High Vibe food for you) and suffer no consequences:
“Susannah Mushatt Jones (1899–2016) was an African American who was, at the age of 116 years and 311 days, the world’s oldest living person and the last living American born in the 19th century. Jones never smoked or consumed alcohol. She slept about ten hours a night and napped throughout the day. For breakfast, she always ATE FOUR STRIPS OF BACON along with scrambled eggs and grits. She also ATE BACON THROUGHOUT THE DAY”. [Wikipedia. “Susannah Mushatt Jones”. Wikipedia: Free Encyclopedia, 2016]
Unlike any other diet plan on the market today, the Numerology Diet actually measures the numerological values of specific foods and matches these foods to our Life Path number. Think of it this way:
“All matter resonates at specific frequencies! The frequency of, say, a carrot, is quite different from that of a bagel. The most simplified way of looking at The Numerology Diet is through the lens of frequency matching”. Trent Tyler, Numerology Nutritionist
Was ok till you went into intermittent fasting and mentioned ketosis. Not sure that’s quite right
I am on LCHF/keto for 2 years, It is important to enter this with a mindset of changing your lifestyle and habits that are bad and replacing them with healthier ones and keep doing it/that.
Not to mention going into LCHF slowly start with keeping your carbs under 100 grams a day. and go for healthy mix of saturated, poly and mono saturated fats that are coldpressed. and no vegetable oils. go for good quality protein sources from food or powder form
As your body learns to use the fat and protein more efficently you can decease the carbs further down the line over time.
I have been water fasting 7 days (hunger came back the 8th day) I had no hunger pain, and that thanks to this diet giving me the cellular infrastructure necessary to do the fast virturally without any hard effort.
During the water fast I made sure to be properly mineralised and have optimal electrolyte levels. (salt, calcium, potassium and magnesium)
I prepered my self like above the day before i made a 24 hour dry fast(no water drinking or eating) and during both fasting periods my mind was knife sharp and I noticed a boost in preformance at school and was full of energy. 1 day of dry fast also gave me similar results of 4 days water fast.
My body produce its glucose it need from protein while offsetting the “deficit” by using ketones and other fatty acids/trigycerides. (at the end of the fast my blood sugar levels were 1.8 of excess glucose instead of my usual 3.7. I had no headace, dissyness or balance problems and my mood was great)
Naturally my kolesterol went up to the roof. but in abscence of insulin and high levels of glucose level in the blood, virturally none of the kolesterol got oxidised (if any happens during a fast this long) in its process to transport ketones/ triglycerides to supply my body with energy it needed during the fast. and get rid of waste products to be recycled in the liver.
oxidised kolesterol, hyper glucose and insulin levels in the blood that is caused by carbs/sugars and insulin that basically lies behind the majority of all modern western deceases and complications that we are facing.

Thank you for all your videos you make. I suck at searching information and getting what I want to learn out of it. You help me a lot. ♡ I’m so glad we have you to watch on youtube.
I love being able to appreciate delicious nutritious potatoes again without feeling guilty about it like I always did when eating them with cheese or sour cream or butter. Potatoes give me good energy when not eaten alongside garbage, whoulda thought!
Please interview Dr Fung and Dr Hyman. No wonder your doctor is obese.
This so called doctor has no clue of how beneficial Keto is to so many people around the world.
You are helping me make my new way of life successful, your talks are so informative! Thank you
I love the way you simplify everything. It makes it more achievable and sustainable. I also enjoy the cooking videos informative & tasty and they get me laughing at times. Thanks:)
This is an awesome video! So clear cut and easy to understand. I started WFPB a few weeks ago but wasn’t losing weight and this explains why. Thanks! On my way to a healthier me!
I try to eat a whole-food vegan diet, but I do drink at least one cup of almond milk hot chocolate per day. Nice video.
Oh I needed this! I find myself eating veggies most of the day and then I go crazy for a carb later and end up caving on chips or bread.♀️ I need serious help because I have to get this weight off my body and I’m so happy I came across this channel.
From a vegan: literally everything has protein in it, you don’t need anywhere close to as much protein as you’ve been told you do, you’ve been told this so you buy protein products that you piss down the toilet.
Meat is over rated as a food in general.
Dr berg says differently idk who this doctor is but for years doctors have been paid to spread false information he might be one of them
It’s an interesting way to lay it out. Barbara Rolls (of Volumetrics fame) encouraged balancing energy dense and water-rich foods. Because of her influence and others, I realize I’ve been working toward something close to this for a long time. I’m not committed enough to go whole, after having been able to lose and pretty much keep off 50 lbs for more than five years. Maybe I’m still sinking my heath with the few tablespoons of oil a week I have; I’ll take my chances for. awhile more. I think it’s nearly offensive to call oils toxic since some of the long-lived cultures of the world use them. (olive oil and coconut, depending on the region. Tell a 90-year old Cretan man he has been eating a toxin his whole life). But for those who have not been able to moderate their eating, I’m glad there is this clearlyspelled out option to the ubiquitous keto. (Gives me chills thinking of the whole world trying to go keto, even though I have one friend who healed his autoimmune disease with it.) Pretty simple: figure out what combination of 3 (probably if you’re a short to midrange tall woman) or 4 (just about everyone else) pounds of plants makes you happy. P. S. I used to be a binger and I NEVER binged when I wasn’t already full. In fact, getting really full can be a trigger for urges to go chow down on ice cream, cookie dough, and brownie batter. The difference now is that I just ignore it.
One of my favourite recipe’s is a Thai salad with tempeh coated in a soy peanut sauce!
Asians eat a lot of carbs like rice, sweet potato, potato, cassava, purple yam, taro and etc. and you dont see them obese or sick unlike these priveleged food addicts.
When you talk about bread, do you include whole grain bread?
Some Vegans are like Jehova witnesses, so annoying and biased that make people not want to be vegan. Better to lead by example of health than proselytizing.
AT 3:50 YOU IDIOT, YEAH NO SHIT OUR ANCESTORS DIDN’T EAT OIL!!!! THEY HAD PLENTY OF WHALE BLUBBER AND MAMMOTH RUMP STEAKS
Make
America
Healthy
Again
I love your ability to combine information and sarcasm so perfectly. ❤️
In my opinion, there’s no best diet. It, first of all, it depends on you. secondly, try avoiding processed foods and go for the whole foods as much as you can.
I wasn’t excited about the cookbook until I saw those teaser pics at the end. Now I want to know what all of it is, and how to make it!
I’ve been on and off a wfpb diet for about 2 years. I have lost weight but gain some back when I stop eating healthy..of course. A few days ago I began to watch your videos. I had knowledge of the information you shared already, but I felt like I was hearing it for the first time. As a person who always asks why, I gained a deeper appreciation for eating healthy. I feel motivated as never before. Today is day 2 of being back on a wfpb diet and I feel better already. I subscribed to your channel today and I know I can do this. Just wanted to thank you.
I liked that doctor he seemedvery informative and genuinely knew his sstuff compared to some doctors I have experienced.
Tempeh is the only form of soy that doesn’t upset my stomach. I absolutely love it, just made a tempeh bolognese dish!
Dude, you have the look of an old man and you’re in your late 20s? No muscle — you’re just skinny-fat. Typical vegan.
Is crazy how whoever made all this diets that are bad for us is like they were years advance that they knew they are bad like the technicality that goes into all this refining and taking the fiber out of grains and all this is like a silent conspiracy against our longevity or something
I don’t know if you already have one but you should make a video on leaky gut and plant based diets.
What makes these kind of clueless doctors think that low carb diet means we eat refined carbs and no veggies?
I am on a Keto diet and eat plenty of low carb veggies. I have never felt better in my life. High energy and mental clarity and lost 15lb the 1st 2 weeks and my blood glucose levels reduced and is now hardly ever above 120.
I did a 6 months vegan diet and it was the worst 6 months. I was constantly hungry and low energy, skin problems and lost just 5lb only.
Reducing the carbs made all the difference for me. Whatever diet works for you.. go for it.
That’s because the majority of people are eating muscular proteins and skipping the most nutritional organ proteins. When a lion kills its prey it goes for the blood and organ parts first. Today’s flesh proteins are so contaminated. Eat wild venison and use all the organs when you make the sausage. Fat is not your enemy, it’s all the grains, sugars and fiber. Look into RA starches. Intermediate fasting is good. Work and play hard. Let go of hate and learn to love. Peace.
There’s a huge difference between junk carbs and quality carbs.

In my opinion, there’s no best diet. It, first of all, it depends on you. secondly, try avoiding processed foods and go for the whole foods as much as you can.
Are people intentionally posting contrary videos as click-bait?
Maybe they don’t really believe what they’re saying, just did it because they know it will get clicks.
Can’t argue with the result: 204K+ so far…
Google worst diseases for heart, kidney, arthritis etc. Not a vegi mentioned.
Doctor looks fat he should shut his trap and start a keto or low carb diet so he can get healthy and walk the walk rather than talk the talk.
Question, and I’m not trying to be a jerk, but it interest me that you have a master’s in nutrition yet you are eating a hybrid banana in your video intro. So I asked the question in my comment but to be more to the point. Did you know that real bananas are actually those tiny little bananas that we don’t see in super markets any more, just like white and burgundy carrots, oranges with no seeds I could go on for ever. So you having a masters in nutrition I would imagine that you are also a pro in the field of herbs? If not, how can you say you have a masters in nutrition knowing only some or nothing about herbs. Can you pls answer and explain? I like your videos, but you are attributing to yourself a masters in nutrition because you were given a paper and yes you studied and worked hard to get it and I don’t dispute your efforts in acquiring that paper that says master. Herbs are food, in fact they are nutrition period. I await your answer respectfully sir.and pls no semantics, you can not separate the two, if you have a masters in nutrition you must know about a toned about herbs and this is not an opinion, you can’t separate them, it’s like trying to separate the ocean from the sand, can’t be done, they go hand in hand. Thank you in advance for your attention if you give it to me.
Canola oil is poison, agave and honey…….don’t get me started on organic natural sugars, all vegetable oil is oxidized because of the liquid state allowing it to oxidize every time you open the bottle.
The Vegan myth is king of obvious, because at the end of the day, protein is protein calories are calories, regardless of where they come from
wierd question!!! Would if I need to eat more but I just can’t force myself to eat anymore food in the day… How do I go about fixing it so I can eat more food? @Experts/@Athlean-X

I’m really confused to go vegan or not.
I watched ‘The Game Changers’ in Netflix and I was intrigued to go Vegan for improved athletic performance and healthy body.
Now I also see Chris Hemsworth stopped being Vegan after so many years and it’s claimed being Vegan got him Kidney stones.
I saw other athletes too who tried being Vegan but their performance got down so they got back to eating meat.
I saw a nutritionist say this that Vegans are deficient of:
“EPA/DHA
Vitamin B12
Choline
Vitamin D3
Selenium
Protein
Saturated fat”
What do I beleive?
What’s true?
I love these videos they have allowed me to eat pizza everyday and still look reasonable with no beer belly
Mic, the study you quoted: The postprandial effect of components of the Mediterranean diet on endothelial function concluded that canola oil and fish oil were BENEFICIAL components of the Mediterranean diet and did not negatively effect Flow-Mediated Vasodilation as Olive oil did.
This seems to contradict what you said about this study showing that “ALL OILS paralyze your arteries.” As a surviving Heart Attack patient, I’m looking for scientific information about oils and their negative effects on cardiovascular health. I’ve looked into Dr. Esselstyn’s work and am greatly encouraged by it and now I’m looking for scientific consensus that oils are a dangerous food. My research is leading to much contradictory information so I’m hoping to find other practitioners of plant-based nutrition to help me determine the probability of oils negative effects on the Cardiovascular system and causal links to disease.
I’m researching these claims that oil has been scientifically proven to damage the endothelial lining or contributes to inflammation and heart disease because I am a heart attack survivor. It seems that you are only selecting the information out of the study that supports your claim that all oil is unhealthy and ignoring the conclusion of the same study that contradicts your claim. I don’t want to believe that you are intentionally ignoring the conclusion or purposefully cherry picking information while excluding the conclusion that canola and fish oil reduced inflammation without negatively affecting blood flow.
This claim that all oil is toxic and must be avoided seems misguided or unsupported by the very same studies that you included as support for this claim. Your video left me confused rather than informed and has damaged the trust I’ve placed on the information you are passing on. Now I feel like I must double check every claim you make.
Direct Quote from the Study you cited:
“The meals with Olive oil lowered Flow-Mediated Vasodilation. We fed 10 healthy, normolipidemic subjects five meals containing 900 kcal and 50 g fat. Three meals contained different fat sources: olive oil, canola oil, and salmon. Two olive oil meals also contained antioxidant vitamins (C and E) or foods (balsamic vinegar and salad). We measured serum lipoproteins and glucose and brachial artery flow-mediated vasodilation (FMD), an index of endothelial function, before and 3 h after each meal.
RESULTS
All five meals significantly raised serum triglycerides but did not change other lipoproteins or glucose 3 h postprandially. The olive oil meal reduced FMD 31% (14.3 ± 4.2% to 9.9 ± 4.5%, p = 0.008). An inverse correlation was observed between postprandial changes in serum triglycerides and FMD (r = −0.47, p < 0.05). The remaining four meals did not significantly reduce FMD.
CONCLUSIONS
In terms of their effects on postprandial endothelial function, the beneficial components of the Mediterranean and Lyon Diet Heart Study diets appear to be the antioxidant-rich foods—vegetables, fruits, and their derivatives such as vinegar, and omega-3-rich fish and canola oils—not olive oil. Canola oil may share some of the unique vasoprotective properties of other omega-3-rich oils, such as fish oil. Dietary fruits, vegetables, and their products appear to provide some protection against the direct impairment in endothelial function produced by high-fat foods, including olive oil”
This seems to contradict what you said about this study showing that oil “paralyzes your arteries.” This study showed that canola oil and fish oil were beneficial and only olive oil reduced FMD 31% I’m looking to you for an honest review of science and health information and in this video, you are quoting a study that directly contradicts what you are saying about oil.
So basically make sure your whole plant based diet is bland, boring and flavorless and you will lose weight. Any salt, or spices will make the food taste better then it will have the adverse effect. WOW!
Unhealthy “plant based” food..? That’s just foolish on its face.
You said a whole bunch of things at just the moment I needed to hear them. For one thing, I❤️ Sriracha. Sriracha’s evil includes not only salt but sugar as its #2 ingredient after chilis. But the big problem is that Sriracha, as Huy Fong acknowledges, isn’t technically vegan because in the United States, much sugar is processed through bone-char. So I’ll have to kiss the Sriracha goodbye. Salt may be difficult to avoid, but I can get away from sugar with Cholula.
Other evils have slipped under my radar lately, so a housecleaning is in order.I made the terrible mistake of ordering some Just Ranch dressing because it’s vegan — it also has as its very dominant ingredient expeller pressed canola oil.
I’ve experienced plateaus—I’ve actually noticed that for me big round numbers are as hard to break as sound barriers. This happens so consistently that I’m theorizing that there’s some subconscious servo feedback loop among mind, appetite, and gut. So you’ve just unwittingly played AA sponsor for me and I’m going to be dumping my boozy food tomorrow. Thanks!
There’s literally mountains of research that whole potatoes or any kind of food that spikes blood sugar is bad lol that’s why it’s best to mix keto with a vegetarian diet!
What science says: Glucose excess makes you fat. Get the fck out of sugars.
I’ve heard a loooot of people saying that “we must not eat after 6 pm because our stomach won’t digest our food and will start its digestive processes at 8. It simply sleeps and stores food until 8 am.”
These people tell me I’ll faint in the middle of the street because of lack of nutrients. I’m lacto-ovo-vegetarian and they say” you don’t consume enough protein and b12″
So than why are all of us in the chat healthier for being on KETO I know I am.My body and blood test say I’m fine.
True, the brain needs glucose to run but gluconeogenisis takes care of the brain’s glucose needs during the keto diet.
I can’t believe in someone who looks like an unhealthy fat pig.
Just as good today as it was a year and a half ago. Thank you.
I was so hyped to see this video. i thought this was going to be revolutionary. So what you are saying we need to have a huge bulk of food which is definitely not tasty, cant have salt and not even a have a tsp of oil. For life. Just kill me now:-((((
I’m confused. In a previous video you said to never eat beyond 6pm…
All so true. I ate no carbs at all. Lost my period. Developed ovarian cysts. All because I ate only fat and protein which came from animal products. Animal products are full or hormones and antibiotics. IT KILLS US SLOWLY IMBALANCES OUR BODY AND CAUSE DISEASES
Bismillah, do what works for you. I truly prefer eating and incorporating Prophet Muhammad sallahu alayhi wasalam style of eating which is to fast on Mondays & Thursdays, and consume more fruits like watermelon and food high in nutrients like honey & dates. Water up, and stop eating before you get full.
“The son of Adam does not fill any vessel worse than his stomach. It is sufficient for him to eat a few mouthful and keep going. If he must do that (filled his stomach) then let him filled one third with food, one third with water & one third with air,” Prophet Muhammad sallahu alayhi wasalam.
I use to do drugs adderall/cocaine what pre work out would you recommend Jeff I have a high tolerance for uppers but need something that’s pretty powerful. Thanks Jeff.
How to never enjoy eating food again…for the rest of your life. Oh, your taste buds will adjust, not unlike Robinson Crusoe, but if food is one of the great pleasures in life, this form of eating will leave you with a barren existence.
Thank you for breaking it down into important synapsis! I like the starch approach but never realized why eating the salad first is soooo important. I also workout in the morning and you explained how it effected the metabolism. One question, when you IF are you afraid you are telling your body to conserve energy again? I getnir but I don’t get it.
Our bodies don’t need carbs, this doctor fat himself ♀️ lies! lies! lies
You’re being disingenuous. No one says oil is necessary, they say FAT is necessary for many functions in the body. And that is in fact true.
“A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest” Paul Simon, song: The Boxer. Great video, thanks! The truth always comes out in the end…and now sooner than that.
If you want to look like the doctor, listen to his advice. I mean he looks fine, just a little bit chubby.
All a person has to do is to look at the ancient civilizations and societies that lived the longest. Diets consisted of high carb plant based foods… unprocessed foods. As soon as we enter a western civilization then disease skyrockets…
Rewatching this as it popped up in my feed a year later. Just wanted to let you know that the link to the cheese sauce in your description doesn’t work anymore
Let’s talk about conventional GMO soy, unfortunately most available meatless products are heavily loaded with it.
Everyone knows better than the doctor lol just remember people there are a lot of people on YouTube calling themselves Dr so and so who are not medical Dr’s..
Mike, you always show the Adventists as an example, please study the African Hebrew Israelites, which live a vegan lifestyle in Israel since the 70s and had 0 cases of heart attacks…
I absolutely love your videos, the honesty is awesome. I am an absolute binger too! I’m going to give this way of life a try.
low fat whatever vegan diet is the best. whole better, but sometimes to boring.
When I scrolled past the thumbnail, I thought he was Morgan from TWD, lol.
GUYS, where is THE REAL Jeff, why does this one have a shirt on?!
How are you saying that a keto diet is bad for you if you still can eat a whole food plant based diet under a keto method just you’re still eating under 50grams of carbs per day but still getting your major protein and fiber from your leafy greens and vegetables?
This is a great video. I have seen/heard each one of these myths between my family and friends. Very informative and to the point as usual.
At 4:48 he says it causes a greater risk of what? Couldn’t decipher what he was saying
It would help your injuries doctor if you ate keto vegan or keto vegetarian….you do not need to excercise to be lean…you need to be in a catabolic fat burning mode as often as possible…how do you do this? By keeping glucagon up and insulin down…how do you do this?..by eating the lowest carb diet possible…..see dr ben bikman dr jason fung…dr dom d’agostino…ivor cummins…etc….
There are reasons for some people to not eat within a few hours of going to bed. If i eat anything other than a piece of fruit very late i get up in the morning feeling. full. That in turn effects my sleep. When you don’t sleep properly every body function can be affected.
I may be rare. But it does happen.
I have seen with some people trying lose a couple extra pounds. Not eating at night did help. Again that is quite rare. But it does happen. As a trainer for many years i found many differences in some people.
Thank you for this!! I went vegan two years ago and sadly fell into the “standard American vegan diet” and went off the Whole Foods and started with all the process vegan foods. I’m back to plant based diet (May 19th, 2020) from when I first went vegan and lost 70lbs. I got 100lbs to go and I’m back to the basics. Thank you I needed to hear this. I’m going to binge watch your channel ❤️
our ancestors thousands of years ago had an average life span of 23 years.
I would like to know about the Climate Change effect on plants. It is said that the increase in CO2 is making plants have more sugar and reduces nutrients. The Claim is that over time plants will be as bad as junk food…
What do you think of people on high fruit diets? Aka fruitarians
I really appreciate this video. I found it so helpful and the way you laid out the information…simple and precise. I’m so sick of hearing about the next weightless craze and how it affects society’s health. Thank you for what you’re doing!
How about home-made juiced vegetables and fruits? Or, how about home-made smoothies, blended fruits or vegetables? Good or bad??
plant based perfect to thrive on and see massive improvements. especially from menstrual cycle.
3 years vegan and improved this no end.
Plus vegan for the animals and environment always
This doctor is a comedy goldmine. I love the editing bananiac does to try and make him seem coherent.
The things he says are not true at all. The brain loves ketones (fat).
As noted he’s obese. This is proof his diet isn’t healthy. Blaming lack of exercise is a lie. I never exercise yet maintain a healthy weight eating as much meat as I can.
Despite the low quality of information I will click videos like this in the future to enjoy the unintentional humour!
I am morbidly obese and desperately trying to change my LIFESTYLE not a quick diet. This makes the most sense to me and I’m really excited to begin this. The only thing is, it sounds like you’re saying if the food taste good then you will over eat. like I said, i’m looking for a LIFESTYLE change…as in FOREVER. I don’t want to eat tasteless food FOREVER. I’m still going to try this and continue to look into this so that I can still enjoy my food, just healthy food.
I just found you on YouTube, yeeeeey. Now I get it. I sauté everything with olive oil or coconut oil and I use almond butter as my dessert. How do I sauté onions and garlic without oils?
Sorry doc. You need to go low carb by the look of you. I have lost 25 kg bloods 100 per cent improved. Stuff your starches where the sun dont shine and lose some weight.
You are just so awesome! You are easy to follow and understand. I am motivated and hopeful. Thank you so much.
I wish I could eat like this. As I type 1 diabetic I need to know exactly what’s going in. It’s exhausting and if my sugars are slightly elevated sometimes oils are the only thing to help satiate and forget fruit.
31g of protein, wowzers. Sounds like an easy way to boost a shake!
This is great but what about insulin and how fat raises insulin significantly less than carbohydrates? Where’s the balance?
dont forget that supplements for a vegan not just protein, you need some for aminoacids, some for those stuff that i dont know the name in english for, but yea do your research before putting a hard strain on your body
I‘ve had a vegetarian diet for 40 years. I have listened to people talk about calories and also listened about carb diets. Which is correct or do both work? The carb people say nuts are good but I can see in this chart they have a lot of calories. The carb people say fats don’t create weight gain but rather it’s the carbs that are turned into sugar and stored. The two ideas seem to be at opposite ends of the spectrum. Thanx for the video
I started today and I’m giving it one month, every diet has let me down. I need to lose 30 pounds. I want to lose 10 pounds a month
I am confused. Even in vege diet there is a selection of food which is good for u. Not everything is good in vege diet. How do i know what to eat i plant based diet.. any list
Hi! I really enjoy watching your videos! I’m trying this new wfpb sos diet and I really want to succeed but I don’t get the calorie density calculation.
For example, I eat everyday instant plain oat (quaker brand) with no sugar added, and it says it’s 110 calories per 30gr.
This means, for a pound of oats (approx. 456gr), it would be way above 600 calories/pound = 1664 calories.
It’s the same with organic oat flakes (170 calories for 45gr)
Help!:-(
Foods that are low in calorie density tend to be high in water and low in fat. Examples include fruit, vegetables and soups.
Could someone break down this video for me and just tell me what foods I should eat? Thanku
There is a psychological explanation for the negative reactions you get from people who can’t “face facts.” It’s called “sunk cost fallacy.” I deal with this as a counselor. People focus on the past cost of material things/relationships/ideas rather than the future utility. They are concerned with what they have “invested” in something, rather than what they can get out of it in the future. It’s loss aversion they cannot accept the idea or feeling of “losing” something they really want. Sunk costs are backward looking decisions. It’s why people throw good money after bad in poker; why people stay in failed relationships; why meat-eaters fight tooth and nail against studies which contradict their lifestyle; and why vegetarians refuse to give up oils. They’ve mentally/emotionally/financially invested too much in their choices and no amount of facts can overcome their feeling of losing what they’ve invested. Sorry, don’t mean to come off as a Cliff Clavin.
Mic the vegan videos are so educational! I watch them over and over! I learn something new each time I watch them!
Your calorie myth is so wrong in has been wrong for ever. You need to read dr Atkins new diet revolution he wrote in the 70s. The best knowledge we have today comes from dr Benjamin bikman a professor at BYU. He is a insulin expert and has the secret of protein synthesis. You can eat I believe 300 to 500 more calories than you burn and never gain fat. He says 2 to 3 hundred. What you are saying is wrong. Protien has never turned into fat that not only hasn’t been proven the opposite is true. Protien can only spike if it is taken with carbs. There is no insulin rise at all when carbs are absent and you add fat the to protein. Therefore mo fat gain because no insulin draw. Your diet will not work for an endomorph! You eat way to much carbs. Your an ectomorph and have a mix of mesomorph in that’s why it works for you. I do like your channel but your ignorance about calories is alarming
I just discovered your channel, and I don’t know if i’m too sleepy or you speak too fast, but i find it hard to follow you.
I want to like to add more likes to this video so I will: LIKE LIKE LIKE LIKE LIKE!!!! Thank you Dillon for sharing this information!! You convey information in an easy to understand, digestible, and witty way.
Yes peanut butter was my go to I ate it with apples In fact with everything I LOVED IT. Thanks for this infro I have a greater understanding
me: open my mouth
jeff: why opening ur mouth is killing ur gains
oof man, a poison ivy salad? OOF (Still better than meat though)
I Jess watch this video I loved it. I was telling a friend, that I need to get back to eating like we did in the 70s at our dinner table. The food was much more basic and good.
What about creatine for vegans? Even supplements aren’t vegan.
I have 100 lbs to loss. I’m stoked after seeing this. I eat everything backwards! I’m checking out your other videos. I learned so much.
The reason why you should not eat past 6 p.m. is not about becoming fat. You don’t necessarily become fat if you eat after 6 p.m. The problem with eating after 6 p.m. is, that your stomach and gut should be empty at night, because the gut is essential in healing and regenerating the body at night. If you eat after 6 p.m. you will have a lot of food in there and your gut will have to digest that over night. But your gut can only do one thing at a time, either digesting or healing. If he has to digest at night your regeneration and healing factor of your body will be severely hampered. Only because you can’t be bothered to not eat after 6 p.m., not having the willpower and discipline to not do it. Its the definition of a lose lose situation, which should be avoided.
Thank you very much Dillon, for this presentation, you explain so well!
Thank you Dillon! I have been dousing my food w hot sauce and eating more and more! It was escaping me that the salt was making the food hyper palatable. And, I should know as I am extremely salt sensitive.its always good to hear these concepts reiterated! Thanks again!
Dr. Mills does not do low carb. Dr. Berg does low carb. You can see the difference in their body composition.
Vegans have generally a higher awareness of what and why they it certain food products. You have a very relatively narrow argumentation, which will not appeal to someone who is looking for objectivity and comprehensive facts. For the record there are omnivore diets out there, that in some aspects are showing better results in terms of health benefits and longevity compared to a vegan diet. Please study e.g Japanese diets including diary and fish products. I had big hopes for inspiration after your first video but as unaware as an omnivore can be, I’m unable to listen to this one-sided argumentation… and btw. the evolution of human kind is partly based on a omnivore diet and meat consumption for millions of years… somehow we have survived and according to some evolutionary studies, meat consumption benefited and allowed the first humanoids to survive and evolve into the modern Homo Sapiens. Matter of fact, we didn’t die out because of health issues in the process:-D
I’ve learned, well I thought I learned, that the body can create glucose from other sources, not just carbs. And the brain can run on ketones, which are a better source of fuel than sugar. I think these people are YouTube are purposely trying to confuse us.
I’m a type 2 diabetic and I started a low carb/high healthy fat diet in January 2019. I lost 40 pounds, my A1C dropped from 6.8 to 5.1, and per my physician I recently stopped using insulin (still take 500mg Metformin twice a day), stopped using hydrochlorothiazide, and cut the dosage of my statin drug in half. Additionally, my cholestrol, trigycerides, and all other blood and urine labs were in a normal range for my age whereas they weren’t before. You can say low carb is bad, but I’m proof that it can improve the quality of life for at least some people. To anyone reading this: Check with your own physician before making any drastic lifestyle changes.
Your body absolutely does not need carbs, there are no essential carbs, like there are essential amino and fatty acids, when you go into ketosis, ketones provide energy for your brain as well, and the little amount of glucose it requires is supplied by protein from gluconeogenisis.
hello. The Mediterranean diet promotes the use of olive oil. Yet you’re saying it must be severely restricted. I am not sure your ideas on fat like olive oil are accurate.
I eat almost all wholefoods and don’t really have much oil or sugar just because I like that food but I don’t wanna loose weight just do it cuz it makes me feel good
This is why I treat my rice, legumes, oats and nuts as my “meat” and don’t eat a ton of them, just about a cup to 1.5 cups a day. The rest is vegetables, fruits. Vegetable soups before eating are very filling and nutritious too
It’s a pretty easy way to eat
Edit: ah oil. I live in Italy, we have our own (as in family owned) olive groves and hand pressed oil. It’s extremely “virgin”, not even filtered, never heated, etc. I don’t eat it, because of all the reasons you stated, but we’re headed to my MIL in the south and she. oils. everything. Pasta? Oil. Salad? Oil. Beans? Oil. Grilled vegetables? Extra oil. Siiiiigh. Trying to talk to her about it is impossible, so I just have to starve for a week to10 days from tiny, tiny portions
I’ve always been a veggie lover and have always grilled or cooked vegetables and added the Extra Virgin Olive, butter, cheese, cream and such. So taking these things out for about a week now has already made a difference. Now I need to find ways to season that broccoli and veggies without olive oil, and of course the salt. My typical breakfast was a cup of oatmeal with a teaspoon of Olive Oil! Looking forward to changing up my seasoning options. My cheat food will definitely be a piece of crusty bread, but for now no bread is no problem. Just help me with seasoning so dishes aren’t so dry.
The brain prefers glucose..? The brain performs perfectly well on ketone bodies,..many assert, it performs better!?!
I’ve stopped using olive oil — and it’s difficult as f**k. My rice and pasta is all sticky, which I hate so much. Also, oil and balsamic vinegar was my dressing for the longest time. I thought I was being healthy!! ♀️. The taste without oil is difficult to get used to, but if this is what I have to do to help me shed some excess fat, I will.
U cant build muscle without meat or eggs… vegans r all full of shit….they all cheat on their diet, take a million supplements, and only grow on gear.
A body builder in jail used to meat a big bowl of rice and ramen every night around 9:30pm. He was in great shape. He told me eating late and eating in the morning, especially carbohydrates, jumpstarts the metabolism and helps burn fat all through the night as opposed to letting your body go into fasting mode at night which will then result in more muscle being used as fuel instead of fat.
I used this method and indeed lost a few pounds. What do you guys think?
I have ruined my joints and ankles from hockey…so I lift light and swim in the ocean…how about a video on the benefits of cardio other then running
I wanna believe it but with all respect I can‘t when looking at Doctor Mills.
Hey so I am on a Facebook group and I posed a question about alcohol. I asked if they noticed a drop off in the interest of alcohol as I did. I had no intentions of quitting and live the idea of shots of rum, but since going vegan I drank once when it used to be every weekend. As I said I never intended on giving it up, and 30-40 people in the group have had the same experience. I was wondering if you would like to investigate this. Normally I look into my own curiosities but there really isn’t a lot of information out there regarding this particular subject. Thanks in advance!
Thank you so much for the vegan bit at 3:33. Very helpful and well said.
Keto can work but it destroys the planet (can’t sustain so much animal farming) + animals have feelings and don’t want to be slaved and killed against their will
Potatoes? Ever heard of Lectins? If not, you should get up to speed on them. They are the sticky proteins that plants use to keep predators from eating their babies.
What about people with thyroid issues. I’m hypothyroidism hashimotos disease. Some very and potatoes are not good for me.
Fighting diabetes? Do you realize that veganism is basically sugar?
just saw this article… https://realfarmacy.com/reasons-avoid-soy-milk/ just make my head hurt,,,
Very well explained. Clear and straight forward in a friendly manner. Thank you very much!
Here’s the thing, if you’re exercising 5 to 6 times a week at 30 minutes each day, it will burn off calories even if you over eat some days.
Oh shit, the shirt’s on. This is gonna get serious. Buckle up, boys!
