He is wrong about antibiotic. All drug have half life and excreted from body.
I deep fried it and I’ve baked it and it was GOOD TO ME…..yall TRIPPIN tripping…
so this joker has been hired by fish companies or the government to promote fish eating. Consuming mercury is beneficial? do me a favour! there are so dangers to eating fish now days and he doesn’t bother to mention any of them. wonder why? wake up people
(American) Farm raised catfish >>>>>>>>>>>>> (???) farm raised tilapia.
If you go to RASFF portal, which is the European food safety portal and type pangasius in “subject”line (second line) of the page, you will find the European food alerts for panga…:): https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/rasff-window/portal/?event=SearchForm&cleanSearch=1
this dude is full of shit, tilapia when properly cleaned and cooked is delicious and has a lot of protein. don’t let fools like this dude scare you.
I wanted to love the idea that the tilapia sold by Wholefoods was a good one! Anyways I always look for cod and haddock. Thanks for posting this!
and pretty much I go fishing with my grandparents in the country and catch our own fish and clean.
Is some of the frozen cod sold really tilapia or catfish? How do we know?
sorry that now we have to deal with our wild caught fish like cod being frozen then sent to China, thawed, processed and re-frozen then sent back to the US:( Who’s to say what is happening during all this…all so companies can make more$ at our health expense.
I just eat a big plate full with tilapia…fuck i need to flush down everything
This fish you can buy in TH. Good info I believe…
Name of the fish, I eat today, maybe I die ;)… Pangasius Fillet ; ( Pangasianodon Hypothalamus )
I have yet to find some frozen cod that wasn’t soggy when it thaws out. It’s hard to cook when it thaw out.
Here in the Philippines, we catch them fresh in rivers so it doesn’t have that muddy flavor. When it’s now on palengkes, they wash it every ten minutes or so in the stalls and they are gonna kill it if a customer is buying it.
I just wan to know..
I raise tilapia in my backyaard and I feed them with azolla, duckweed, worms and pellets.. is this fine to eat and organic? or remove the pellets then fed with azolla duckweed and worms
It’s so delicious, I eat every week and can’t because of soft and juicy. Love it
If it’s containing poison, government stops to import into Australia, where is a extremely strict on food quality.
I trust my government
Of all places you had to make the study in Iraq…I remember when Vietnam had their healthy dose of Agent Orange. Also, you didn’t mention the role of Selenium in binding with the Mercury in fish, nor did you conclude if mercury is a naturally occurring contaminant. If so, people would have been dying more often with the vaccines containing mercury and its derivative.
Tom, u sure did scared me and now I’ll never eat tilapia ever again lol. Thx for the advice.
Sorry but I raise talapia and mine are raised organically. We raise catfish too.
I bet y’all eat pig shrimp and lobster/crab! ALL BOTTOM FEEDERS THEY EAT ANYTHING
What if you raise them and feed them organic fish food, and the pond is not over crowded? Would that make a difference? I can use them for aquaponics because it’s easier than other fishes. Thank you in advance
Now days every kinds of meat is farmed raised living in their own crap and eating out of it mistreated and given steroids and LIFE is short so tonight I’m eating tilapia and this weekend I’m going to go catch some at my local reservoir.. lots of powder protein is also bad for u/ pre workout oh yeah and running too ur joints take a beating.. anywho LIFE is short make the most of it.. I’M OUT
I was wise to Tilapia over 10 years ago. Why? I saw the mass marketing of that fish in grocery stores and restaurants. I was suspicious of a ubiquitous nature. Second, the fish looked nasty and dirty in whole or even as a filet the meat is dark, rigid texture and bland.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCD2bu3AnYs&t=337s
A reliable source of Pangasius products from Vietnam
No one is gonna talk about how fine this nigga is??
i dont know why it is so cheap… it tastes delicious tho:/
the thing is in my experience…fish that look nice also taste nice….this fish does not look nice… xD
They add antibiotics used for external sse. What about a pregnant womam eating it?
I didn’t know about tilapia until about 2 years ago and I was eating it twice a week and I was wondering why I was having fibromyalgia symptoms. When I stopped the tilapia intake the inflammatory disease in my body stopped. I didn’t know that tilapia was the fast-food of fish until then. Thanks for this awesome post.
OMG I never thought I would see people talk bad about swai it’s so damn Delicious I cook it all the time if you don’t know how to cook it just call me. I fry, boil it even in a soup I’m not playing
you won’t live long enough being picky with your food. basically, eat anything to survive as long as it is edible. It is edible isn’t it? EAT it. you don’t know when you’ll die or how long will you live. EATING healthy foods doesn’t make you invincible anyway. you would die one way or another. Get old trying to survive. As long as you survive at the moment that’s what matters to me. whether you be vegetarian or vegan, it’s all the same. Alot of people don’t even eat regularly everyday, you’re lucky you get to fill your stomach / eat something to survive. Cultivate/preserve your body more for worms to eat you when you die. A lot of nutrients from your body they get to eat.
I m eating tilapia almost everyday for my gallstone problem. This diet keeps me in check since i cannot digest fats and am also having trouble digesting puoltry as well even if its breast. A little better news than other videos ive found on tilapia so far,
Pigs also eat and bathe in their waste and you guys still eat bacon.
I’m from Egypt, and Egypt is a very strong country in farming talipia
That’s why I should say to everyone stay away from talipia from Egypt, I never eat talipia in Egypt because I know it’s dirty
Blah blah blah…Everything is bad brah. Next year a study will say oxygen will cause cancer. I ate it today, i’ll eat it tomorrow.
Swai fish is not flaky and it is tasteless and sogy nasty I will never eat it again
Thank you Thomas for so much helpful knowledge to assist us in adapting a healthier lifestyle. I’ve always worked toward a healthier way of life since I was 19 years old and now I’m 67. But you have also helped make it way easier along with amazing results by educating us with your valuable information. I am locked in on your channel! Thanks again!
Tim Lauri, Redford, Mi
I am eating it everyday and no poison at all… people who claim it toxic is full of bulls**t… say hello to your sin for false claim and try to take down good people bisness:)… and it shows that this people are uneducated…
Oh so our cows are even better with all the hormones they inject. And mass production. I prefer something that comes from Asia they live longer and cancer rates and extremely low plus any animal protein is very acidic
What are your opinions pollock? Someone told me it isn’t good but not why, is that true?
I like a lot of your ideas. However, in the intros, you say it doesn’t matter what you eat, but when you eat and then…
I ate a panga once at university with my partner. Since our acute reaction in which we both where rendered unable to see straight or walk I went from an astrophysics major with a 140+ IQ to being mentally reduced to the point of not being able to walk from the headaches. I’m also pretty much always tipsy even though I don’t drink and keeping my eyes open takes quite the effort now. One might easily dismiss it as anecdotal, or say it wasn’t the fish, or that it was bacteriological in nature. Yet we hadn’t eaten anything else and were both hit with extreme ototoxicity in the form of hearing damage and very loud tinnitus mere moments after eating which discounts a lot of agents. In actual fact there is no agent known to science that can explain our drastic change in life that day.
If you want to examine an actual claim against panga filet and the diffusion of responsibility using scientific publications riddled with unmentioned uncertainty, I have ours documented day by day as my brain fails, I faint, and wake up with hypothermia. Since I’m still struggling with medical professionals to save my life I’d benefit greatly from understanding what to look for specifically.
I do however think your research paper is a poor comparison between two horrific sources and I wish researchers could always comment on research in other disciplines because peer review is like a blind judge grading another blind person on good looks.
Being funded by “Seafood Importers & Processors Alliance without influence on the content” makes me wonder if you were selected based on expertise and past experience to steer research into a market aware direction regardless of contextual influence. That’s what I would do after all.
Imagine the nightmares beset upon my partner after I told her not to order the fish and then she brought my life of accomplishment to ruin with it. If I had only been warned about the actual risks I would have insisted. Anyone ordering a pangasius filet whilst knowing that fish stores in the Netherlands don’t sell them due to toxicological concerns would be a complete idiot.
Lastly, before I succumbing to my symptoms I was a financial portfolio manager, and all of this tells me you have no idea about risk management. One does not manage risk by mere probability, you manage it with a healthy respect for asymetry in potential gains versus potential losses. Eat chicken or try a salad people, or you might also one day have to be funded by someone that knows how to manage risk.
Great points all around until you suggested eating a different fish that isn’t farmed yet. When it will be popular, it will be farmed sooner
Wouldn’t most of the bacteria die out when you would cook it?
Did You ever visited any country outside USA? Did You have seen how the food is farmed? Or is it just from “common knowledge” that everything farmed outside USA has no or minimal regulations? Serious, people all around the world watching your videos and constantly asking themselves “WTF!?”.
You have to get half way through the video before it gets to the point!
Video ends………..
throws away whole bag of frozen tilapia in my freezer
Who was the Asswhole who decided that it would be a Good idea to Feed Fish Chicken Shit?
Hey nature we cant eat fish because of omega 6 & 3 imbalances.. there are different good tasty kinds of wild caught tilapia or aquaponics tilapia
Have you ever trief HYDROPONIC LETTUCE VS REGULAR ETTUCE its a big difference
Tilapia is eaten three times a day by Jeremy Buendia while preparing for Olympia Physique division, which he’s currently won 4 times. It’s really hard to consider connecting with this video when the results are there.
good fish to eat not cheap to buy about 3 euros 1kg but low calories,so after 30 mins u r hungry again. Serbia
could you give me your mail id or you may also feel free to contact me directly over telephone @ +91-7001945903. cause i have something in this regard which may be discussed over a cup of virtual tea
my gosh you have made this video so boring is would be easier to watch paint dry.
i cant raise halibut or cod in my farm pond. So tilapia it is.
If Talapia is the only fish you like, then you don’t like fish
Almost all eggs are 15:1 omega 6:3, so do you think the best, most natural eggs are bad too?
Oh wow! Tilapia is the only fish i like but i never thought of the Facts u said. I used to live in a farm where they have tilapia so i know that u are saying the truth
Nice one Thomas, never was really keen on Tilapia, even though it was touted as a good, “Prepper” fish 😉 Be that as it may, I appreciate your videos, and would ask you about one of my favourite fishes, “Basa.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSYaR8EeM7k What’s your take on it given the recommendations you’ve already made? Why doesn’t it make the grade from your point of view?
Tilapias are very popular in the Philippines but They’re bottom feeders and they taste gross! So I’m very glad I don’t eat them.
Salmon and cod are better.
If Mekong is dirty, how would the panga not toxic????? They use the water of Mekong right? Furthermore: what food they exactly use for feeding???
I got a 5 dollar bag of tilapia for 8 servings worth, thinking I got a deal and now I’m thinking I screwed myself cause it says “Product of China”, oh well, guess it’s still better than consuming a bat of cheetos or something
in Phillipines we use it to cure daibitis sometimes and we eat them it’s healthy for Filipinos it helps your eye sight to see better at night like mines
It depends on the farm, not the fish itself. Simple concept, example, if you want to go out and eat, you choose the best restaurant that suits you i.e. cleaniness, taste, environment, etc. Same goes as tilapia farm. So before you go buy tilapia, just do a bit of research and ask the seller where it came from. Simple.
this is only for tilapia bought in the grocery store the ones caught in the wild aren’t like this and do not taste the same, so you can still get your omega 3’s from them, i eat bass, bream and crappie as well, and just about any fish you can name including gar… and cod has no flavor by the way, get yourself some wild caught largemouth bass if you want some real fish.
The logic here is lacking. Farmed tilapia is lower in mercury because the farmers can carefully control the quality of the water…yeah fish eat shit, what do you think they’re eating in the ocean? Steak and eggs? They’re bottom feeders who’s whole point of existence is to filter the ocean of doo doo. The only difference is that the farmers can keep plastic and heavy metals out of their water supply, which you can’t control in the ocean. Literal metric fuck tons of radiocative nuclear waste was dumped into the ocean after Fukishima, the “Wild caught Jumping Jamaican Chadfish” you’re eating may have been chewing on a dead body before it was scooped up by a fisherman. So i’d think twice about proclaiming that Wild caught fish is guaranteed to be more healthy than farmed. Yea Tilapia is Omega-6 dominant but it is a lean fish…only around 2g of fat per filet so that is also misleading. Go ahead and get mercury poisoning but when you can no longer do long division don’t say I didn’t warn you.
This guy is legit healthy and always pulls authoritative sources. Thx Thomas good video man!
The fish you recommended were all wild caught. Is there any farm raised fish that you do recommend? xoxo from Arizona
Dont eat anything from the pacific. The radiation from fukishima has gotten into ALL fish.
When you raise it yourself with high quality food such as organic compost worms and Convict Cichlids fry and meal worms as we do in our aquaponic system it is great to consume. Get your omega 3s from chia seeds. To each there own.
Believe it or rite now I am at Vietnam. And the company is just opposite of our company we’re I work.. this fish company just import this fish it’s a huge company. My frnds never eat this fish I was just curious to know y. And now I know y. And now y is this fish so cheap in the market of sa Dec city in Vietnam
I WOULDNT eat ANY Pacific Ocean FISH or Sea Vegetables: research Thomas: FUKUSHIMA Powerplant MELTDOWN.
I call BUllshit on this.. come on fish being unhealthy? Harmful.. yeah ok
The biggest question is what do they feed this fish? I was at a feed mill making pangasius feed and walked towards a sack of ingredient. They panicked and asked for my reassurance I hadn’t touched the dangerous chemical.
Swai fish is so bomb!!! I know how to cook!!!!!!
Low mercury fish ok like trout high mercury fish harm our health
My dad got cirrhosis after consuming fried tilapia for continuous 3 days.
I have access to a locally caught fresh tilapia in Colombia, would you still advise against eating tilapia from this source?
Others channel are saying that basa fish is not good for health and should avoid eating eat and been developed in Vietnam in contaminated environment and so it is low in cost, you are saying it’s good. God knows what’s the actual truth
well, i never heard the name of this fish, my husband brought it from walmart so i come to u -tube to search to know about this fish. Now i am confused i should cook or throw.?
I eat it regularly. Two people at a bbq warned me not to. Like most food warnings bullshit! Thanks for the video:)
The whole point of talapia is that is cheap. The three fish you suggest are literally some of the most expensive on the market. Not all of us have celebrity model money, Thomas.
Im building my own pond. Thats how i got here, im so excited!
Any negative things said about Swai fish is negative propaganda because the USA commercial fish market would I.E. Catfish, Talipia or Whiting would take a major hit if Swai was raised here. This fish is better tasting than either of those. I’ve been eating Swai aka Basa for years. This fish is net raised not allowed to bottom dwell. But this video just put out negatives deterring you to buy..
Used to eat Tilapia but stopped because to me it always tasted like dirt even after seasoning it.
Will the other fish work for ceviche. I was told by a local restaurant to use tilapia in the dish, I need to find a new fish.
Wild Tilapia from Lake Malawi(freshwater lake)is worth a try…nice videos on the channel, definitely subscribed.
Do your own research, people. Then go ahead and eat your Talapia.
After watching Fork Over Knives and Food Inc, for the first time in my life really I’m taking food more seriously. This was an eye opener!
My favorite?? Lake Superior White fish. YUM!! Fresh water, melts in your mouth
These questions raised by only dirty people and dirty politicians. Because its from a Communist country.
That’s bad taste to eat Pangasius fish as anything else produced in Vietnam or those Asian countries.
I live in Asia and all our Tilapia is caught fresh from the rivers/lakes:)
thanks for the info. i convinced my wife to buy it for me after years of her telling me it was bad you. it was delicious, cheap and so easy to make. its a very flavorful white fish.
thank you for this. I always knew this was a BAD fish. I am from the Northwest and we cook Cod all the time.
Yes but tilapia is a white fish. What are the safest white fish options?
Just to get things straight. I’m an aquaculturist and some of the things discussed here are very misleading. It’s very rare to see a fish farm operator use antibiotics because Tilipia is a hardy species in the first place, that’s why it’s a good candidate for rice-fish farming and biofloc technology (a kind of system wherein all the wastes in a rearing tank get recycled and converted into food, yes even poop can be converted into food by action of heterotrophic bacteria). In fact, Tilapia slime and mucus contain antibiotic, antifungal properties which make it a good candidate for green water technology. Green water is used by shrimp farms to improve water quality and make the culture organisms less susceptible to bacterial diseases. Tilapia does not contain a good amount of Omega 3 because it is primarily a FRESHWATER fish. Omega 3 is not essential for freshwater fish, whether they are farmed or grown in ponds but it is essential for marine fish such as sardines, herrings, tuna etc because these fish cannot synthesize omega 3 on their own so they have to get it from their environment or from the food they eat. It is true that Tilapia almost eat anything it is omnivorous in nature and exists in the bottom portion of the pond/lake, so automatically it can eat anything that’s not been eaten by fish in the surface. It is not true that they are fed chicken manure. Chicken manure are ORGANIC fertilizers used to fertilize ponds before the culture period starts. It encourages growth of algae so larval Tilapia can feed on it. By nitrogen cycle, algae multiplies by photosynthesis and by utilizing the nitrogen in the chicken manure. So by the time Tilapia grows and starts eating feed pellets, the chicken manure has been fully utilized in the culture system.
Dude I didn’t come to see you, I literally wanted to know what’s better than tilapia and you pop up, you’re the reason I’m doing intermittent fasting you cover everything. Subscribed!
Norwegian salmon is the most toxic salmon,Peruvian salmon farms are so toxic they are actually polluting the ocean off the coast.these guys mean well, but they should do a little more research,as we all should do.
I actually wanted to argue with you. But you do raise valid points however what you failed to mention is Tilapia can be grown in plant based water. Aquaponics. Which serves as a two edged sword. Now when you mentioned only 5% is from america then u mentioned the alternatives it made me realize more than anything you’re promoting local industry whixh is fair. But u make it seem whatever is imported was farmed under poor health standards. Mmm this is ignorant. Now this is where I tell you as a fish farmer. This video has agreeable points but biased and agenda based
I only consume fish that has scales… even then i am very cautious of where I buy it and finding out, if I can, how it’s raised.
So poisons are tested. Are antibiotics? Watch this and you understand that you STILL DO NOT want to eat this fish: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Px9Enx74kjA Ever increasing loads of antibiotics and many other chemicals, fish bleeding out of their bodies and gills as a result. Video is in German, look for good Auto-translate subs in English!
You only make propaganda in the service of trade war. You dont say, you “don t nor see may be ” anything worth and dangerous in USA (and EU) about transformed vegetables, or on beef product (hundreds billions dollars… I understand…) with hormones, unfysikal consumptions of their life, on feeding them with antiviotics, nothing for the so dirty chicken industries… But we saw for example on the very good film of the best may be US journalist and honest writer Michel Moor about the uknown side of US, the hundreds thousents chickens on chicken farms, the one up the other, feeding with “special” food, hormons, antiviotics and a lot of them dying every day and the others eating them… All the world knows that the big fishes like tuna and others who cost 10 or 20 or 30 times more than poor pangasius, usualy include heavy metals extreme dangerous for human health! But the profits are so huge… That s why yoy don t see, “you dont know” about these and thousants others toxic and poisoned foods?..
grow your own food, catch your own fish, raise or hunt your own meat. If you are not in an area of the world that permits this easily -rethink your life, your future self will thank you, I guarantee it.
dirty water, yes. but did they ever made a study on the fish if its really safe or not? if its not safe them bfad should have banned import of this fish. major super markets still sell this frozen fish fillet.
Swai fish is actually quite delicious if you deep fry with Sylvia’s fish fry seasoning mix and soak it in natural lemon juice at least two hours prying to cooking. My wife, kids, I, and our cats love it . Just season to taste and it’s all good
well it in a shop in Manchester China town.would you still not buy it.????
This is crap…. you can tell by the way this is being presented. Just google the Mekong river pollution Vietnam where they farm this fish and the following comes up: “Vietnam bears the overwhelming brunt of the pollution because Vietnam is the last country where the Mekong flows, and all the rubbish comes down from the countries through which the river flows through (Dat, 2015), in a process known as “transboundary transmission” They’re not denying in this video the various chemicals found in the fish they are just saying they are at safe levels…. safe enough so that you’ll buy and consume enough of them to make them a healthy profit before you croak. This fish smelled strange and tasted strange and it led me here.
Tilapia just tatstes like old blend white bread soaked in dishwater.
Cod has too much sodium to be of benefit to me. Halibut and Haddock are a bit pricey. Any other suggestions???
There is almost no omega-3 in this fish… and it’s high in cholesterol… I stopped buying it.
You are correct Sir and This is what I tell every other site that talks shit about Swai “You are full of shit, and just hating on the stainable food source so you can boost up cost for other fisheries. Major chains like Walmart would not risk law suits for selling tainted food sources Dumb Asses!”
Bedankt voor jullie video. Hebben jullie ook als eens noorse zalm onderzocht?
Risk blah blah blah…
Let’s not forget that if you choose to eat something “risky” and contaminated, it’s not the only contamination you are getting as all of it is accumulative. So saying that you have to eat n kilograms of pangasius to get sick is irrelevant because we are constantly consuming pretty significant amounts of toxic chemicals or metals thus we’ll see consequences of that sooner than we expect.
Low in omega 3 which defeats the purpose of eating fish. Uummm I don’t know anybody who eats fish for omega 3 they eat it because it taste good. That might be surprising but it’s true. We also like twinkies and zingers that have nutritional value but it’s sex to the tongue. No not tongue sex that something else.
Thanks for info on this fish, so conclusion is safe to eat or not safe to eat? i like this fish cause easy to handle no bone and to make buttered fish or nestum fish with curry leaves, nice
Good info though I don’t eat tilapia because they have nasty sharp bones inside and they taste really bland.
Sardines FTW
i’m happy i found this video. i was looking into panga filet because people around me said it was dangerous to consume.
i’m happy that some real trustable info is out there. i’m so done with all those food bloggers and their “health risks”
in the recommended videos right now are titles like “the truth about pangasius” and “9 fish you shouldn’t eat”…
Bottom line is that tilapia is almost entirely grown in fish farms therefore not a quality protein and fat source. The better alternatives are haddock, halibut, and cod. Good recommendations for white fish. I think the alternatives cost a little more, but in the long term they are worth it!
ive never eaten a tilapia that didnt taste like dirty dank ass water. they have the texture of a wet sponge too.
not sure if ever had tilapia. know few friends who eat it. Cod is not cheap to buy in the UK. But is readily available fresh and frozen
Fired this fish rivals halibut, You fish snobs will say otherwise but you probably never even had halibut so…….
https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/rasff-window/portal/?event=SearchByKeyword&NewSearch=1&Keywords=Pangasius this link shows sustances not anthorizes found in frozrn filet asnitrofunano (conservant) and mercury found.
Thomas don’t give partial truth.. 3 month is a hormone raised Tilapia. A healthy Tilapia is raised and harvest at 9 month…Nice try helping ur business…. Don’t belive this clown video..
This fish is probably safer than most foods xD
All our other foods get sprayed with chemicals for pestacides and animals are fed all sorts and given chemicals to get fatter.
I am eating one just now in Europe/Latvia. I cooked it and i tastes good.:D
Sardines are the healthiest fish. They are always wild, lowest in pollutants, and high in omega-3. As a bonus, they are inexpensive. If you don’t like the flavor, try eating them with mustard and possibly whole grain crackers.
you know mate This makes a lot of sense to me when i first went to China 2008 i hated the fish there even in top hotels my friends took me n hated fish just as much couple of years ago in China again, but sadly cod is now farmed in Norway n Denmark n many other European countries so it looks like we have to go to small seaside towns to buy fish from the fishermen we don’t want to eat the crap they farm sad but the reality
Thank you, I didn’t know that. I eat Tilapia a lot, but well I guess not anymore lol
“This video and study is kindly sponsored by the Pangasus and the Pharma industry” .
Embarrasing Wageningen Uni.
That’s a pretty bad start for the video, you sound rather protectionist. Not interested.
Tilapia straight out of the water is plumper and taste way better than store bought.
It’s about as shitty of a fish as you can eat…
High in cholesterol, and pretty much no omega 3… you might as well eat pork or beef.
If it came from a fish farm, Don’t eat it. Aquaculture is by definition is problematic. Think pork farm where pigs breath in other pigs feces.
Is it true that tilapia is not a real fish it was created by Scientist?
So many explanation but they are not answer about the fish, safe or not
Bullshit! I grew up in Ghana (West Africa) and Tilapia is very common. We don’t farm it at all. We actually fish them from rivers and the sea. I believe you are describing ones in western or in advanced economies; then again the majority of foods in such economies are artificially farmed. This video is misleading.
Thanks for the video, but it sounds like we should eat fish in moderation. Substitute fish with food like walnuts and beans.
Unless u live in an area where they are native and natural and clean, for example jordan, but farmed tilapia s piles of crap
You shouldn’t be killing and eating animals. Plain stupid. You can get omega 3 from walnuts.
You are full of shit, and just hating on the stainable food source so you can boost up cost for other fisheries. Major chains like Walmart would not risk law suits for selling tainted food sources Dumb Ass!
smh. I don’t put nothing pass the food industry. cause it say wild caught, doesn’t mean it is. at the end of the day vegan or not,we don’t know what the hell,we putting in our bodies. THESE PUNKS WILL DO ANYTHING FOR A DOLLAR. all u can do is drink water and sweat the toxins out much as you can.
Even if it’s not toxic, it is low in nutrients (i.e. omega 3s), apparently high in cholesterol, but most importantly IT TASTES OF NOTHING so that last is the reason I don’t eat it. I prefer some flavour in my fish so I like haddock if I am eating white seafish, or hake.
I eat a lot of tilapia, but I also eat flax seeds and other foods that are high in omega 6. I think that if you’re aware that it’s high in omega 3, you can adjust your diet to compensate for it
What a meat head. Don’t listen to him, just like a doctor where everything is bad and good at the same time.
Why would you eat a fish which has eaten soy for all it’s life…. There’s no soy in the water normally so this fish has had an abnormal life.
So, the scientists can’t measure alot of toxics so it’s deemed ‘safe’. There are zero benefits of eating this trash other than that your stomach is filled.
If you think that a poor country like vietnam would choose sustainable food production over profit think again. Like all other businesses they know how to get through audits. What happens after that nobody will ever know.
Thats why I eat Alaskan pollock. I know that it’s been in the ocean for all it’s life, far away from humans.
But, to each his own! More pollock for me:)
Apparently through all sources ALL fish n meat are bad for u smh
Thomas is right about foreign tilapia. They are often raised in basically what amount to sewer ponds. I have raised tilapia on an aquaponics farm where they were fed a natural diet of worms, bugs, algae and alfalfa and the water was constantly filtered. The taste of fresh, sustainable, farm raised tilapia fed a natural diet is anything but bland. The Omega 3’s and 6’s are in perfect balance and they are just as much or more healthy to eat as any other fish (that isn’t salmon or sardines) and are an excellent source of high quality protein. I tried some tilapia imported from China once and about gagged. It was slimy and had a bland, but slightly foul flavor. Salmon and sardines are great fish, because they eat great food. Fish are what they eat/ate, just as Thomas says and the same goes for tilapia.
Tilapia have a bad rap because people only refer to the cesspool raised fish when pontificating on the merits of various fish. If you have a scary story to tell about a certain popular fish, demonizing it grabs peoples attention and gets you more customers because you are so smart and wise to warn people of such devil fish. Of course cesspool tilapia are going to be a low quality, inflammatory fish, just as salmon and any other fish would be if raised in the same conditions. Find an American supplier of tilapia, preferably from an aquaponics farm, and buy fresh or frozen from them and enjoy all the delicious tilapia you want. If you cannot find an American source, the Regal Lakes tilapia found at Costco is raised in lake farms with mountain spring water and is probably the best imported tilapia. They are fed soybeans and corn, so the nutrition profile will reflect that. I would only eat it occasionally, but it still has a decent Omega 3/6 ratio and plenty of vitamin D and B12 and beats processed protein any day.
Thomas, you tell people to not eat farm raised salmon. That is good. Salmon do not do well as a farmed fish. They taste nasty and their nutrition quality is poor. But everybody pushing salmon only highlights the nutritional benefits of wild caught fish. However, the same reasoning does not apply to farm grown tilapia harvested from well run farms with clean water and natural food diets. In fact it is the opposite. I’ve had wild caught tilapia. They are not so pleasant to eat and, as you noted, they will eat anything. Being in the wild doesn’t change that and that includes bottom feeding, and any garbage they can find. Wild tilapia are more toxic than any salt water fish like sharks or tuna. They also absorb the heavy metals and other toxins from the heavily polluted fresh water environment.
Correctly farmed tilapia are an excellent, sustainable and healthy food source. You harp on a sustainable supply of fish. Well raised tilapia are one of those sustainable fish. Instead of scaring people away from it to make a buck, we should be eating more tilapia from American farmers so that it is worth it for them to produce here-using quality processes and diets. Unfortunately most American tilapia farms are suffering from guilt by association with an inferior, imported poop fish that should never be consumed by anybody regardless of the species. My family grew up eating fresh tilapia from our family farm as one of our main protein sources. We all remained lean and healthy while consuming large quantities of this tasty, farm raised fish.
You mentioned Pacific Halibut and Cod. What about the Atlantic counterparts to those?
its like saying do not eat mushrooms because they grow on shit.
catfish are scavengers and bottom feeders
they eat dead things and love rotting things
slow and fat they just trudge along the bottom of the bed.
Tilapia is almost a staple fish food in the Philippines. Bit shocked to be honest since it’s such a normal thing to see on the table. Thanks for the info.
What about wild tilapia….. And the name is not scary at all..lake Victoria in East Africa has wild tilapia and many more rivers and lakes in Africa…why eat artificial and base your assumptions on that?
Remember the 80s when the Gov kept telling us what was good and wasnt? Fast forward 39 yrs and find out that it was all a lie. Never trust the GOV when it comes to foods unless you tripple check thier facts and then look twice again.
You know it is very sad that your video is saying that much poisoning substances are bad less is better, it is stillsafe to eat! These poisonous substances mean and prove that the water and the technology is not environment friendly or sustainable. So I do not understand your philosophie toward this contaminated fish.
I saw a documentary awhile back where they showed a river (can’t remember where…. but I’m thinking it was in Africa or South America) that was so polluted….tilapia were the only fish that could survive in it. That raised my eyebrow, right there.
So… let’s assume it’s perfectly safe for consumption.
The more important question is whether it’s a sustainable and ethical industry?
Wow wow you demonic ing tilapia did you knew that more than a million people have jobs related to catching tilapia. You’re so rude and inconsiderate fuckign fatty
There is more than one type of cod. Red is riddled with worms and other parasites, people will want to go for Blue cod as it is fit for consumption.
Yes, get the word out. I’m very particular about the fish I consume. Which means, not very many.. and must be wild catch.
I Eat swai 2 deep fried fillets cost $4 and I can make 4 fish fry sandwiches on hot dog buns
I see people buying salmon and red snapper on welfare cards all the time but they are societal leeches
Drink Essentia alkali bottled water
i stopped eating talapia a few years ago i had no reason why now im glad i did
