This lady pops a lot of pills. Pills have side effects in itself
Nice Video clip! Forgive me for chiming in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you heard about Riddleagan Surviving Death Remedy (just google it)? It is a smashing one of a kind product for reducing your cholesterol level without the headache. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my GF at last got excellent success with it.
The lady in the background is pretty annoying. Reminds me of the people in class who think every open question deserves a verbal response.
I wish I could listen to that video without the very bad “wind like” sound in the back ground. Can anyone fix it.?
Just started eating flax seeds and chia seeds. Now they are not good for me because they have phytosterol? How am I going to get more fibers in my diet?
Good interesting information and Holistic Chef Barry Anderson the owner-manager of the Garden Villa Phuket Thai Nature Retreat Phuket Thailand will do some more research on this then post his findings to his FaceBook followers timeline. Thank You, Dr. Nadir Ali
I have 2 kids age 5 an 6 and meal times are very hard going the school walk in back 5 days per week. I’ve noticed I’ve put more weight on since lockdown but am I better to eat a general plant diet with 2 meals per day. I am 31 and was going to fast till 12pm then next meal 7pm then bed asleep for 10pm?? Do that work up to a 5 day on 2days off in future. But wot kond of multi vital min do I need each day?? Coz isn’t fruit full of sugar?? Wot about contraception is it vital to be on that to and how to find a good plant based diet from scratch?? Is it OK keep my kids on 7 12 5 pm daily meals.xxx
Dr. Ali, My dr. said you have to go on a statin drug.I did the research and refused. When it was learned that the oldest surviving people in an old age home had the highest cholesterol levels, about average 275 total, that told me something.
I have watched numerous videos on cholesterol, this is the first time I am hearing about the deleterious effects of phytosterols (i.e. plant cholesterol). Based on all the evidence that Dr. Ali is presenting, it looks like we have been falsely implicating a lot of the maladies on animal fats which can, in reality, be blamed on phytosterols. Thank you Dr. Ali for this eye opening presentation. While I know better than to accept the glorification of industrial seed oils that has been promoted for decades by the “authorities”, your presentation has really opened my eyes to how truly dangerous plant based chemicals really are.
I do want to raise one problem with the olive oil + corn oil vs. animal fat diet study. There was no olive oil only (nevermind extra virgin which has the least processing, which maintains a healthier fat&cholesterol profile) group. Corn oil is God awful for people. No question. The work of Chris Knobbe on Omega 6 dangers has made this ridiculously clear. Olive oil is both relatively high in monounsaturated Omega 3, and the Omega 6 is not Linoleic Acid majorily, so the fat profile is very healthy.
On the coconut oil front, Dr. Ali may want to look at the studies of the Tokelau islander tribe, because 80% of their fat intake is coconut oil (and something like 55-60% of their diet is coconut meat, rest being fish), and they live long, healthy lives. Maybe they’re genetically optimized for it vs. the western world, but they are a notable exception to the rule that phytosterols will be detrimental to longevity.
Fantastic talk. It has been very educative and eye opening. Good teacher and better doctor!
So for most people, phytosterols are not a problem, because they are excreted from the gut.
Thank you so much the women in my family all get these fatty lumps around their eyes at middle age, and this was starting to happen to me. I couldn’t find any useful information about this until this talk. Since I have begun fasting and eating carnivore-ish the lumps around my eyes have almost completely disappeared! Thank you for helping me understand the mechanisms!
Dr. Ali show some level of basic integrity. What you are presenting is really misleading and outright false about plant based whole foods diet. I want to see you debate Dr. Campbell of the China Study on this plant cholesterol issue. And yes your take on plant based diets looks to be outright fake.
Thank you SO much for this amazing information. I hope these oils come off the market once or at least until they can be bred to have fewer problems, especially less linoleic acid and sterols.
corn oil is like the worst oil to add to anything to compare against something else. Read up more on the differences. Some of the studies have an agenda.
Any government agency that has to do with nutrition/health is corrupt to the bone<>!! Whatever they say, do the opposite!!
Pleeeeeaaaase have better audio. Your audio is full of cholesterol
I notice that his cellphone is in his pocket is that good for your health doctor?
Oxidation cholesterols is the one that sticks in the artery causing stroke. So maybe it will be wise not to consume too much cholesterol
How do you measure your phytochokesterol levels? And outside of low, how low should they be?
Fascinating and well presented. YouTube at its best. Thank you.
I’m Canadian… Enjoying your instruction, Dr. N. My poor Texas sister has had intestinal bleeding source not found yet.. so has had a couple of intestinal surgeries, including removal of her illeum… Now her Dr. advocates she eat “white” grains, rices… no veg., no fats to speak of…. and he has recently put her on Humira. I feel so sad for her situation. She’s 5 years younger than me.
I retained a phrase from your speech-that human body is designed to eat plants in stress conditions only, otherwise only animals. That could be true from the phytosterols point of view…but minerals(specially Mg and K) come mostly from plants. Antioxidants have primarily vegetal origin. Love your theory of autoimmune conditions being induced by leaky gut and S.I.B.O., that is partly true but not all autoantigens have an intestinal provenience+what about cell mediated autoimmunity? I known you had to simplify your presentation to make it digestible by non-professionals…also had some issues about vit D pills not being absorbed due to low cholesterol…could you develop this idea? Overall I love this presentation(like all your YouTube videos), can’t wait to watch your following video! Kindly, Dr Markus SORIN.
The liver produces the bile acids, the gallbladder concentrates/stores them.
Book suggestion:
How Statin Drugs Really Lower Cholesterol: And Kill You One Cell at a Time
by James B. and Hannah Yoseph
Can some one suggest books which explains the things Dr. Nadir is talking about. The standard physiology/biochemistry books are written by the low-fat low-cholesterol authors. Good lecture though sound quality is very annoying.
So, veg and seed oils should be used on machines and not consumed by humans.
This is why I’m a meat based eater, no grains, no sugar, no nuts, no veg or seed oils. Once I heal from the standard American diet I’ll add back in a small amount of seasonal fruits & veg
Very good…plant cholesterol makes you much less flexible like a plant….ummmmm
corn oil + olive oil compare with animal fat alone? That’s a faulty test. It should have been corn oil or olive oil or animal fat or a combination of both in a pair basis.
a little direct feedback for you Dr.Ali you are great, but your audio is really bad
Thank you for the great podcasthave just had my gene profile evaluated and have a “enhanced absorption of sterols” Perhaps some of us might not eat too much of this type of cholesterol but due to our genetic SNPs,(being prone to overabsorption of phytosterols) we need to be very careful of these processed oils and also the foods with the highest sterol content? Have found your video very useful in understanding why this “enhanced absorption” could be dangerous.
That lady needs to be quiet and listen, she’s super distracting.
very informative. unfortunate that the sound is bad, the words are good. can the sound be made better?

Very little discussed information. Thank you. You are not going too far either!
Thank you for this information. Please may I ask you a question? Is it safe to take K2 if I have been diagnosed with high LDL level. I Also take D 3 and Magnesium. My doctor thinks I need to take Statins to lower my cholesterol. and so far I have refused. My LDL reading with my last blood test was 159. I really don’t want to take the Statins, but I don’t want to put myself at a greater risk of heart or vascular disease. I am so confused about what I’m supposed to eat and what I’m not supposed to eat. and what vitamin s I should and shouldn’t take. Hope you will be able to give me an answer. I have great respect for you as a doctor. I greatly appreciate your work in the field. I just want to do the right thing for my health.
This was actually noted in rabbits many, many decades ago. Great presentation. The cholesterol theory is rubbish!
and an increasing rate of seniors entering nursing care at younger ages.
“Did you know your insulin receptor sits on cholesterol rich lipid rafts?” goddamn
my doc prescribed a statin. my triglycerides & HDL were always good, she worried about my lDL. i was reluctant to take the statin so i went to a naturopath, she put me on a mediterranean type diet & plant sterol supplement. my LDL came down from 167 to 135 in 3 months. i was happy about this but watching this presentation I’m having doubts about both the doctor’s & the naturopath’s advice. does any one have any advice on this, please?
FDA legally prescribed oipioids-
antianxiety-antidepressants-antipsychotics etc. cauases suicidal/homicidal tendencies and ideation-Misleading title. Cholesterol only comes from animal food. Phytosterols may be related, but they are NOT cholesterol. Chimps are over 95% the same genetically as humans, but small changes can make a big difference under the right circumstances.
The bottom line is you can sit out in the sun all day long if you do not have sufficient amount of cholesterol if you do not eat sufficient amount of cholesterol you will not make any vitamin D. Good luck and God bless everyone
Phytosterols and stanols are contained in supplements for BPH and they have a pronounced effect, Speaking of Saw Palmetto, please explain how, if they are spit out, that they have an effect, and more importantly are they dangerous?
It’s too bad that there is all that noise in the background, but this was a riveting lecture, as I am vegan and wish to optimize my understanding of nutrition. Thank you, doctor.
Eighteen years back I was advised to Atrovastatin by my cardiologist to control my cholesterol which was 298. Though I took it for a week, I stopped it. Since then I never took it. Last year when I went for blood tests it was around 275. To my surprise my new dr told it’s good that I have not taken the statin. I hardly had any health problems due to cholesterol.
Great video. Sound is not good. I have reduced the amount of phytosterols in my diet. Less avocado primarily.
Plant based Oxalates are extremely dangerous for human health. Plants have a lot of toxins that we know of & most likely many more we don’t know of.
This is a great video. I watched it and did absolutely the opposite. Worked out great! Thanks.
