i make my pbj sandwich with a little of pb and no added sugar strawberry jelly (that has stevia) and a bread that has 10g protein, and 5g fiber, it tastes so good and i have all the macros, so i think it depends of how you make it (sorry my english i’m chilean haha)

This morning i ate an omelette, carrot, a pack of bacon, and a pb j. lol. Lunch and dinner are missing:D I’m 5’9 and have the body of a supermodel, no eating disorder. explain that xD
healthy PB&J recipe that I eat is what fallows
1. 100% whole wheat bread (2 100% whole wheat breads for a sandwich is about 120 calories vs up to 200 for white bread)
2. PB2 powdered peanut butter (1 serving for a sandwich is 60 calories vs 190 to 200 for regular peanut butter)
3. no sugar jelly (1 tablespoon is 20 calories vs 60 calories for the regular jam)
4. this is not mandatory but I like to throw it in, low fat wheat thin crackers (1 serving is 16 crackers and it is 120 calories)
So if you eat my recipe 1 PB&J is 200 calories and the “normal sandwich” that everybody else eats is 450 calories. I hope that I helped out someone in a small way and also just for the record as someone that has lost over 145 lbs, I kinda have an idea of what works.

It all depends on the type of peanut butter ( peanuts as only ingredient is best) whole wheat bread without any soy bean oils or other oils like that. Just straight wheat and yeast. I watch most of your videos, but I found this one quite disconcerting as I often eat peanut butter. Peanut butter is healthy, and unfortunately, some of your statements are incorrect. There is a 5:1 ratio of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats to saturated fats. Yes, many peanut butters have extra sodium in them which is unneeded, but peanut butter without added sodium is good for you due to its unsaturated fats and protein content.

Sometimes I get weird spells that seem like a blood sugar drop (not diabetic or hypoglycemic, I’ve been checked) and after I eat some peanut butter and jelly I seem to feel better. I always thought of it as just as soft food that my stomach could handle well, but I seem to feel better physically and mentally if I eat a pb&j after one of my spells.

Just use natural Peanut Butter and Jams. You can tell what’s good by looking at the ingredients list. If the PB lists peanuts as the only ingredient, you’re good. If it lists sugar, salt, and weird chemicals, stay away. Jam should be made with fruit, nothing else.

OK. First things first, its peanut butter and JAM not jelly. Stop stealing our language and changing it for the worse, America. Second, none of them buttered the bread before putting the fillings on. In the bread, you want a low glycemic index. The way you can calculate the glycemic index is by looking at the nutrition label on the back, and checking the ratio of total carbohydrates to total fiber.
Fiber is actually a carbohydrate, in the case of bread, but it’s indigestible. If some of the carbohydrates are undigestible, then its harder for your body to break down those sugars into energy, which means that your insulin levels don’t spike as quickly as they would if you ate highly processed white bread (or that fake healthy bread that says “whole wheat” on the label, but is almost exactly the same as the white bread).
So, look at the label, and check the fiber content, and calculate the glycemic index (yes some basic 3rd grade math is required). A good amount of fiber would be 20%.
A typical example would look something like:
serving size: 1 slice
total carbohydrates: 20g
total fiber: 2g
This would be fairly common, and the ratio of carbs to fiber would be 20g carbs/2g fiber OR 10% fiber, if you do the math.
The bread that flashed up on the screen that was called “whole wheat” was probably like 15 to 1, or like 6.5% fiber.
Almost every bread you look at in the store has a high glycemic index, despite being called “whole wheat”. Its total crap.
But there will be at least a couple of loaves in every grocery store that is a good quality. AND an additional bonus is that those breads usually also have 5 or 6 grams of protein per slice. So its a double bonus.
