You need white flour type 500, add a lot of water and work it in, c.a. 1 unit of water per 2 units of flour. Work it for a long time until the batter is firm and not very sticky, then roll ot, cut it and boil for a short time. The more water you work in, the better. Also potatoes are a clue, they glue the butter better than eggseggs, so you can add some. you dont have to eat that awful wholegraim pasta, there are maany recipes for potatoe noodles.

I lived in Europe for 10 years. They ride bicycles and walk ALOT! They do not eat sweets and processed foods are very limited. They do have low stress! In Italy most of the people I met are very religious Catholics. The most profound difference one sees in Italy or Europe is that there are NO FAT PEOPLE! Coming from America where so many are overweight. American tourists were easy to spot since the majority were overwight.

I wouldn’t touch a lot of American food with a ten foot pole. It’s full of poison. How the FDA allows this is mind boggling. Pastries have no taste, it’s all sugar the sign of very bad patiserie. In Europe, sugar never overpowers the different tastes and textures in pastries. Specially France. Everything is made from scratch with unbleached, unfortified flours, fruit, nuts and so forth. Nothing from cans or candy from bags. Chocolate is also at least 60%. That’s what you east since childhood. No “milk” chocolate in traditional European eating habits.

If I ever had to give up pasta for some reason I would definitely be willing to try this or just have it as a veggie salad really. I always thought this was such a good idea though for people trying to lose or control their weight even if it was used just as a snack.I love my pasta dishes though so I always buy whole wheat. My favourite thing to do is use a tomato pasta sauce as a base and I will basically just throw in a bit of every vegetable that we have in the house with it to make a veggie casserole and I’ll eat that with a serve of spaghetti.

Good tips! I do something really similar since we cook up the whole container for the whole family. So if it’s 8 servings I weight the whole thing cooked and then divide by 8 to get a serving size.
I’m thinking it’s because they’re not eating processed foods… My grandparents lived to be 88 yrs old and he still drove his tractor in his 80’s… their main meat was pork & chicken.. not as much stress in their life… so I’m guessing that plays a big part!
Pasta. I used to eat it regularly a few years back. My Sicilian meat sauce is the best on planet. But when I had it for dinner I could not stop eating it. And 20 minutes after stopping I would be knocked out and my brain would literally be tingling.

Pasta is actually okay to eat, but do not fall for frozen ones.
The reason Italians tend to stay in healthy shape is that they cook at home. Everyone loves mamma’s homemade lunch and dinner which consist of salad, pasta (could be polenta or gnocchi), main dish (either meat or fish), and tiny desert + espresso.They don’t really prefer pre-cooked either except it is bread or fresh pasta. If you visit frozen food section in Italian supermarket, you’d be surprised how small it is. Btw, Italian breakfast is light (e.g. coffee and few store-bought biscuits which are not necessarily healthy.) and some don’t even eat any solid food till the noon.
Also, from the south to centre, they prefer using hell a lot of olive oil over hell a lot of low grade vegetable oil/butter which is another secret as far as I know. People in the North actually uses lots of butter to cook.

As an Italian, I believe the main point was not covered in this video. I must say we absolutely do eat a lot of simple starch as pasta and bread, as do the healthy Japanese (as rice), and sweets are definitely not a rare treat anymore. But for us food is important: we eat almost all of our food at lunch and dinner, mostly freshly made dishes, sitting down, and we don’t snack much. This is considered normal and something even the youngest generations expect. Sugary drinks are a thing children have at birthday parties, adults drink water, wine or beer. This culture leads to higher quality nutrition and much fewer problems with weight: many adults are overweight, but morbid obesity is very rare, and as a teacher I can say that overweight adolescents are a tiny minority. It’s a cultural thing, not much to do with what specific foods we eat, in my opinion.

I like most of Corrina’s videos… but this is a salad. I use my family recipe for an Italian meat sauce (tomato sauce, bison or beef or ground chicken meat, mushrooms, and some herbs) on spaghetti squash. If I’m really craving the pasta noodles I’ll mix the spaghetti squash w/some real noodles (usually whole wheat).
Also good to remember that eating is a ritual. Italians have a 1-2 hour break for lunch, they go and eat in peace, chew slowly, laugh with their friends/family/coworkers. Same eating hours everyday, no chaos, no rush. Colazione is also done the same way. You drink your coffee and eat your cornetti slowly, start your day the right way my friends. Their general health and especially mental health is always more important than desperately making money and wealth. You don’t see them buying expensive sh*t and showing it off. You’ll never be able to look at a person and tell if they make a lot of money or not… at least in most cases, ofc there are exception, but they only enforce the rule. Take care of your body and mind, treat it with respect.

Raw vegan pasta looks delicious, it would make me loose weight for sure. If I eat pasta I buy whole wheat pasta and I do consider it to be empty calories, so I do add lot’s of veggies to make those calories less empty, I did stop using oil. I consider oil to be the emptiest calorie of all, per gram it contains more calories than carbs or protien and no fiber. And when it comes to fat loss oil stores much easier as fat than carbs.

just discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago, ive recently transition to a vegan lifestyle and it has been life changing. i am coming from a background of fitness competing and i was down to 97 pounds and 5% BF. i did compete for two years naturally and my life was revolving around calories and proteins. i was craving food so much especially junk and carbs, i kinda developped and eating disorder and i would binge 2-3 times a week which led me to weight gain obviously (came close to 160 on my little frame). I was devastated, i did become vegan in february but not a 100% but now i have been for one month, i dont think i lost weight but ive maintained and i eat mostly whole foods. i guess im metabolism damage and its gonna take time but at least i dont get as hungry and im doing the world some good. its hard for me to let the calories in\out mentality go…but i guess i have to have faith, thankx for all the info on you channel xxx definetely needs to find corn pasta:)

Ancient grains pasta is better than whole wheat pasta and tastes pretty similar to the white pasta. I eat like a box every couple days. So yum.

i am glad that pasta and rice are vegan. i love my pasta and rice my step mom and step brother are from Vietnam so she always has rice in the rice cooker. i sometimes would just eat the white rice plain with just a dash of salt or sometimes i would steam some veggies and mix that with the rice with a dash of soy sause.
and for the pasta i used tomatoe sauce with some veggies and some home made vegan garlic bread
I mean all kinds of Italian pasta are literally in weight loss diets… I never gain bad weight with Italian pasta dishes. Maybe a little healthy extra but nothing unhealthy. I have always loved our Italian counterparts of humanity moreso than others.
I eat penne pasta with tuna and sweet corn, shrimp spaghetti and macoronnni and cheese, I’m still losing weight. In the past I put on weight eating either of those cause I was doing it the wrong way, this time I make sure I watch my other two meals then I can enjoy pasta, I don’t believe in cutting food group out, it’s not a race don’t care how long it takes me as long as it’s sustainable, otherwise I could easily do keto for few months n end up binging

I am pretty late, but does this mean that if you are say making 6 servings, then you weigh dry first, then cook them, and divide the cooked weight by 6? I don’t understand why you need to watch out for the weight difference after cooking it.
5:21 In all fairness to the Chinese, they invented pasta. So the wheat pasta would be the Italian version of the Chinese rice noodles:P
I have tried several times the rice noodles and they are much much lighter than regular pasta. They also cook much faster.
I’m glad to hear you say this about whole wheat pasta. I’ve been hearing so many bad things about gluten, especially for autoimmune conditions (I have Hashimoto’s). But I love having pasta ocassionally!
Am I right in assuming that if the packet gives the nutritional information for 100g of dried uncooked pasta that if your pasta then weighs 200g cooked then you just double the nutritional information and use the cooked weight to measure macros? It wasn’t 100% clear in your video that this is what you do.

nothing wrong with pasta, same as everything else, eat in moderation. Do not know if you are familiar with IIN foot plate, as if not I would advise anyone to take a look. The IIN health coach course years ago has been an absolute eye opener; it is not just food, you need to take a holistic approach. Finally, remember one very important thing; we as humans are all bio individuals, what works for you might not work for someone else!
hey guys i just wanted to share this with you,so i’ve been a vegan for about a month now, after watching cowspiracy and other videos about animal cruelty, the fact is that i know it’s the right thing to do and i am doing it but the more i think about it the more i realize that i don’t have empathy towards animals, i watched the videos about the torture that goes on in the slaughterhouses and i didn’t even flinch, coming from a muslim country (not a muslim anymore) i grew up even seeing animals get killed for weddings and special events, and even when i was a kid i never felt anything, this so painful for me to say cause i know that eating animals and animal byproduct is wrong but i keep thinking that i am not even a vegan although i a have plant-based diet because i don’t feel anything towards those animals. i am starting to think that i have some psychological problem, and i feel so bad about it like i’m not even human or something

Pasta is a horribly bad food. It’s basicaly a cheap mash of flour like that used to feed industrial cattle. It’s the reason I became insulin resistant growing up as a kid because my stupid brothers didn’t eat anything else. I remember always feeling tired, bloated, hungry and getting fatter and fatter. Worst of it is it is sold as a “healthy” food.
Also the fact that they move more than Americans, they walk. Portion control, they cook a lot from scratch, no preservatives…. all that, the pasta or bread itself is not a problem, it’s the whole lifestyle.
Who the hell buys pasta sauces in a glass? Buy some tinned tomatoes, or even fresh tomatoes and make your own sauce. It’s a 1000x tastier.
Adding roasted peppers and zucchini are my favs, just cut back some on the noodles. And I always use the best olive oil to do a cook down of the veggies before they get blended in.

There are slick and delicious commercials showing the pasta in contact only with bronze cutting implements. Outside Italy, look for these pasta brands: La Molisana and De Cecco. These pastas are the best mass produced brands. If you want freshly made pasta, you have to come to Italy.

Your videos have opened my eyes! (Long post incoming) Since I was a little girl, I had traumatic experience when my uncle killed one of his pigs 5 days after I was spending my time with it, petting, feeding and loving it. I was crushed, cried and when it was meal time I just couldn’t eat it. My whole family was telling me it is delicious, it’s normal, etc… After that when I got older I avoided horse, lamb, rabbit, pig meat. I mostly ate chicken, eggs and fish. Also on a dairy not. Since I was very little I HATED MILK! HATED HATED HATED! My mother made me drink it all the time but it always made my stomach bloat and I didnt like the taste. I’ve always thought about being vegan. LIke 3 years ago I was diagnosed with candida, but I’ve succesfuly recovered with a doctors diet recomendation (only fresh vegetables, cooked meat and egg, water; that was about it). I suffer from acne, sleeping disorder, anxiety and spend a lot of time on the computer. My diet is shit, I’ve gained weight. Watching your videos was just a wake up call. I love to eat, I love delicious food, I was never so big on the meat, I love fruit, I love animals, I want this planet to be safe for my children, my childrens children. Coming from a background where meat is likee.. your country’s thing, traditional food is like 90% meat based. Hard times here, people are so consumed with their own lives and problems, working for a loaf of bread you know, and are just unaware what is going on in the world or don’t care. Most of my friends laughed, tried to convince me I need meat etc.. It is rather difficult to be alone in this. When I announced to my family I was considering going vegeterian then maybe vegan I was already doing it (started 5 days ago). I didn’t want to have a transition period, just woke up, decided this is what I want to do I think it will be great! It’s been only 5 days and IT IS INSANE how I feel. Physically obviously there are no changes, It is too early but I feel sooo much more energetic, happier and somehow at peace. Is this how I want to feel for the rest of my life? Absolutely. Is it possible to live healthily without pasta rice and bread? I feel as though the human brain has evolved to the point where it requires these extremely high glucose levels to survive, and fruits and vegetables just don’t quite have enough energy in them to suffice. I’ve tried cutting it out before but It definitely didn’t work for me. On the other side these 3 items are definitely causing problems for me and I definitely cant imagine any cavemen picking these things up in the shop and eating them!
One other avenue of explanation for the video maker and the scientific community: mineral water. Italy is filled with mineral water from one end to the other. A 1.5 liter bottle costs as little as 14 cents. This is a gift of the country’s crazy geology, which also brings terrible earthquakes. Almost all Italians drink mineral water. Has the scientific community seriously investigated this with respect to health and aging?

Excellent video. I am Italian American born in US and then moved to Italy. In America, my mom wanted to stuff me with too much pasta a sign of abundance in her immigrant mind. In Italy, a pasta meal is 80 grams of dry pasta per person. That is tiny. But it sits in a meal framework that makes sense. First, the antipasto of cured meats, like prosciutto and salamis and cheeses, then the small pasta meal, then the “secondo” of a meat or fish dish, then salad, then a small dessert, then espresso coffee. Then there are “digestivi”. These are small shots of alcoholic drinks made from berries or roots. The Bomb is Gensiana. You can feel that helping your digestion. So the Italian meal is actually very regimented and kids do not get to cry and complain. That is the style of the meal right from early age. The Italian kid does not get to choose or complain. Also, the meat in Italy is mostly from animals raised in the open. You can even get wild boar ragu. Goat and sheep meat are consumed regularly. American meat is a disgraceful product of factory farming. The animals suffer and that negative energy is in the meat you eat.
One item only briefly mentioned at the end of the video is “walk a lot”. I suggest to the maker of this video and to the scientific community that this element is HIGHLY underestimated. Italians in rural towns MUST walk a lot. The towns were built long before cars and have steep streets. Many streets are actually stairways. Imagine living in a small house where you have to leave your car 500 or even 1000 feet away and then carry your groceries up a steep street or stairways. These centenarians live in these towns where they MUST walk. I regularly marvel at 85 year olds walking briskly up and down these streets.
There’s something about being on an island that keeps people healthier.
My buddy laughed when I told them I was going to reduce weight with just implementing Fenoboci Diet Plan, but after I showed these people great results right after I used it they are begging me to share with them about it. Of course I won’t let them know the details about this diet plan, hahaha

I think only non-italians struggle with getting fat eating pasta and it’s probably because you made up your own recipes that have nothing to do with Italy adding fat ingredients like butter or creams.

I lived in Sardinia for 4 years and I have to say the food there is incredible. You couldn’t get it any fresher or more organic anywhere. But I’m sure the main reason for Sardinians longevity is the slow-paced life (too slow for me!)
I am going on a beach holiday at the end of this June (27th to the 30th). My main areas of concern are my outer thighs, “love handles,” and bra bulge (armpit fat!).
I know that I am unable to spot reduce, which really sucks, haha.

you know, i used to rationalize around how i would be better off eating vegetarian and being healthier until i knew how to “be vegan correctly”, (which is really just learning how to eat/be healthy in general, since not being vegan is never healthy) but then i realized something. i realized that if you have to try and consciously justify something that felt immoral, not only were you in your ego and kidding yourself/being deceived; but to make things simple, the mere fact that if you go through life with bad intentions, you will never get anything right because you are flawed at your core. i now agree with you in that you are better off being the “unhealthy vegan” and staying vegan. for people in this boat. i strongly encourage you to NOT SETTLE, and keep moving forward. find balance in pushing yourself to to better every day, whilst still being loving and forgiving and kind to yourself. don’t be too hard on yourself, but don’t get too comfortable. have good intentions and tell yourself you desire to do what is best for yourself and the world. love and logic, two sides of the same coin.

OMG I am so glad I saw this video. I been vegan for a month and a half and I noticed my weightloss stalled from the oils I assume so I was really getting frustrated. I think now I will follow a more HCLF approach and see if this helps. It’s been a struggle cuz everyone in my family eats meat except my daughter which means constant annoying comments from them ugg. They eat bread with every meal. And with lunch and dinner, they have pasta. The digestive she’s talking about is a cookie. It’s not very sweet. And they have coffee every day. I love Italy. The food that I had there was all homemade, even the food you bought in the streets. And she’s right, low stress, slow paced, not glued to technology. They do not eat as many veggies as you’d think, as they are expensive. And they drink a LOT of wine. Every lunch and dinner. Two glasses a day, they just don’t get drunk like we do. And they do eat butter and cheese. Lots of olive oil, the green olive oil. It’s interesting. Machine guns at the border between italy and switzerland. very surprising.

I prefer rice pasta as a substitute for egg noodles. My mom doesn’t really buy regular white pasta. Personally, with pasta, for me it’s really about the tomato sauce. Honestly, sometimes we’ll go through about 3 jars of marinara. Be careful though. I recall once looking on the back of a jar of my favorite marinara to find that it contained Parmesan. Because why not?

I found this pasta by Explore Organic Green Lentil Lasagna and the ingredients are: Organic Green Lentil Flour; Organic Green Pea flour; Organic Brown Rice Flour and let me tell you it was amazing!! I layered with spinach; Mushrooms; Zucchini; Red and Orange Roasted Bell peppers and vegan cheese, I also used soft tofu mixed with pesto. I probably could of left out the tofu:-)))))

Here is something interesting I’ve found after eating whole wheat pasta every single night for many months. It was absolutely delicious, however my skin was EXTREMELY broken out and my acne was out of control. Just a few days after switching to rice my complexion became far more clear and I have not experienced any new break outs. I believe the gluten in the pasta was in some way affecting my body. So my advice to fellow vegan teens with acne problems….. try switching to rice and reducing your consumption of gluten!:)
Could you do a healthy version of Nutella? I used to be totally addicted to it, but stopped eating it because it is SO bad for the health and waistline. I do the comforting nutty taste though it would be great if you could do a healthy one I don’t have to worry about eating!!!!

I have read that in Sardinia the young people are not expected to live as long as their grandparents. The oldies, many of whom are living into their 90’s, are more likely to live in the hills, on farms, where they work to a very old age and often till they expire. Their diets contain mostly home grown vege’s and meat. Their home made red wine is very rough with heaps more antioxidants than our smooth stuff. Meanwhile the grandkids don’t fancy life in the hills and have moved to the coast where they have discovered the western diet and a more sedentary lifestyle.

Whole wheat pasta, don’t salt water, cook al dente, don’t use oil, and eat your pasta with veggies…
I definitely enjoy gluten free pastas so much more. The one I get is made with corn, quinoa, and flax. It has the consistency and taste of white pasta. It’s amazing! When I switched to whole wheat pasta it made me so bloated and I couldn’t digest it very well. It would sit in my stomach allllll day:(
I’m 35. My daily supper for about 10 years: 250g cooked white pasta (350 cals), tomato sauce (200 cals), extra mature cheddar (locally sourced, 200 cals). Lunch is about 700 cals too and includes white bread. I only ever snack on fruit n veg. No crisps (potato chips), no chocolate (don’t really care for it). I drink socially, usually a few beers (at 250 cals a pint). I walk about a mile a day and do about 10mins of cardio a day as well. Regular doctor checkups and I’m doing fine.
Ok, I mix it up a little bit, it’s not always the same. But safe to say I’m as skinny as a rake, full of energy and sleep like a baby.

In the part of france where I live we eat a lot of fat (duck and pork), drink wine everyday, veg from the garden including potato, carrot, onion, lettuce, parsley, haricot beans, fruit in the form of jam, swede/turnip we call it navé. We don’t eat smoked or spicy food but that’s particular to the south west. In the east they eat a lot of smoked and lightly spiced food. Sausages, bacon etc. And of course, we keep chicken for eggs and coq au vin

At the moment my favourite thing to do is to eat corn pasta with veggie sauce (I’d love to add vegan m**tballs to that) and watching my favourite tv series Endeavour.

With pasta, Eat lots of vegetables, legumes, seafood, and fruit and add a more relaxing lifestyle and sun…. plus family and friends…healthier all around.
