Just fyi for anyone who doesn’t know this. Fish do not produce Omega-3’s. Similarly to humans, they have to consume it. The only known true source of Omega-3’s is algae. Only algae actually produce Omega-3’s. All other life forms get it from consuming the algae directly or consuming it from a recycled source like sea animals. So rather than taking a fish based Omega 3, it makes more sense to take it from the true source and just consume an algae based Omega supplement. Vegans who already eat a high amount of sea vegetables in their diet, don’t really need to supplement. While I was living in Asia, I was eating a ton of different algae on a daily basis. However, now that I am back in the US, I supplement with an algae based supplement.

I appreciate the video that does not downplay veganism. I have been vegan for 10 years. Eat lots of whole grains and my CRP is.4 so very low inflammation and I do CrossFit (so a lot of muscle inflammation so to speak yet my CRP remains low) about 4 times a week. I don’t do protein supplements and recover quite fast. Apparently greens help reduce muscle inflammation and damage according to NIH. I eat pinto beans, and other vegetable and berries, I don’t cook with oil and try to avoid high saturated fat foods, eat nuts rarely. My cholesterol went down from 210 to 144. My LDL 72. At almost 40 I feel like I am 20. Plant-based diet reversed a clogged artery and needed not stent in that artery post heart attack. Dr. Essylsten has the right plan for heart attack prevention. Rember looking cut does not mean having healthy arteries. Thomas glad you do put veganism in a positive light.

Half your body weight if you were 150 pounds would be 75 pounds, not 75 gms…so that statement is not accurate, it has to be translated into what you must mean…I suggest stating that you use this formula:
Take your body weight, and think of it as grams, then divide that amount of grams in half to get the your amount of daily protein intake.
Then please give some idea of how you came to determine this required amount ( formula).

Pulses are always a good source of protein but have incomplete amino acid profile. Plus you have to eat a huge amount which will get you bloated. Also they get absorbed in HOURS unlike almost instantly like Whey.
And Eggs and Whey have bioavailability of more than 90%, sometimes close to 95% where pulses lie near 60%.
Try to read about these terms. It’s good to read researches an studies. Because human body is not exactly the same now. Nor are the pulses the way they used to be.
If you’re a true peaceful person you wouldn’t use dairy as it’s murder and rape.
Wow I didn’t know we need half our body weight In protein. Maybe that’s why I’m having health issues. Crazy thing about it is I work at shell gas station and we sell protein bars. I bought 2 bars today out of pure randomness. One with 30gm protein and the other with 20gm. I ate them both when I got home right after my meal and I swear, like 20mins later I noticed improvements with my skin. Like the elasticity, specially in my lips. They felt more comfortable and stretchier and softer. I think I’m going to order some bars and eat one every night. Maybe one twice a day. I’m like 320lbs, so I would need about 160gm a day. I barely top 80gm today and it was my first time eating those protein bars after a meal. I may be deficient in protein tremendously. Thanks for the vid Dr.

Protein is in everything, its really hard to find someone with a protein deficiency in the US. Animal protein is a lot more unhealthy than plant protein because the different levels of amino acids can cause cancer.

Unless you’re training for a highly skilled/demanding sports endeavor, and under the care of a highly trained and reputable nutrionist/sports doctor, stay away from all the protein enhanced products. You really don’t know what’s in them. Keep it simple work out hard, eat natural & appropriate enhancing meals.

I just bought 6kg of casine protien. I have had gut problems prior to first time i ate the protien powders, and i stuck for the sole reason that my digestive system was loving it. In fact i had a loy more energy during the day than before, and i was able to go harder with my training workout( which is not lifting, my goal isnt to be some meathead acting like a robot.)

So every scientific study I could find on casein protein that was long-term has only showed its benefits is equal or comparable to whey isolate. Every last showing about an equal amount of muscle gaining benefits as people who drink whey protein I’d appreciate if you could show me the study showing casein protein is bad for you

I consume my protine isplate shake as sn add-on to my other daily protine intakes, ill load it with oats fruit peanut butter and quality baby formula for added gains, sinse addin those things ive made all kinda muscle gains.
Vegetarian protein powder make no sense if it can be blended.
Meat is high in cholesterol, low in fiber and bad for the environment. You can achieve all your fitness goals without it. Thanks for including pea protein and thanks for sharing.

I love pea protein. I drink chocolate pea milk every now and then. Alternating keeps things from being bland, keeps your metabolism on its toes, and helps and heals muscles in different ways. I honestly got most of my info by way of experimentation. You will literally feel things working or not if you go in blind. So don’t let commercialism give you placebo results.
