Slow down.You are not alone, i do the same thing. If i know its in the kitchen i iwll eventually get up to eat it.. I think for me i get bored i have stuck myself in a routine where i wake up..go to work.. not eat breakfast.. but lunch i am starved so i eat quite a bit.. then at like 6 i eat a big dinner..and by 10 whhen i have time to myself i usually go to my computer and snack.. i need to quit.Thank you for this important reminder that I shouldn’t feel shame or guilty for eating when I’m “not hungry.” Either my mind needs the taste of a delicious food, or my body still needs the nutrients!

Are you grazing throughout the day, do you drink latte’s, shakes, smoothies, cappuccino or other high calorie/fat/carb drinks? If not the only health condition I’m aware of would be the thyroid, you would also have other symptoms as well. I am not.I’m not judging you, BTW — this is a safe space, but still, it’s in your best interest to pay attention to the kinds of foods you eat and how late you’re eating them, especially if you aren.

Well i feel like eating after this cause I’m stressed and battery on my phone is going die again

I am 14 and I eat when I’m bored and when my favorite television show is on TV. TV isn’t as great without a snack, so I grab the closest food near me, AS LONG AS IT DOESN’T GO over 80g of sugars DAILY! Sometimes I don’t realize it, but sometimes I chug a 2 liter Pepsi down every drop! I just can’t quit, so I am starting an exercise program to loose weight while my eating habits continue, because I want to be a ninja warrior when I get to be in my 20’s, the legal adult age is 21, so I will when I’m 21+ years of age!
I am 13 and I noticed I eat when I was bored…I kept hoping someone would give really good advice…I finally found it.

My problems is that I have food cravings that I can’t figure out what food I am really craving so I eat and eat trying to find that one thing that stops the craving. I can eat and eat and eat and it is like i am not finding the right food. I have noticed hear lately that adding lots of coconut oils and olive oils over my foods seem to satisfy me and my cravings.
I started at 1 or 2. Now, I’m transitioning from 9 to 10.
I can even watch food preparation videos, and virtually nothing will happen.
I think I only feel tempted to try keto recipes. But, I plan to do that only when I understand their effect/consequences more fully.

You feel hungry after eating gum, is because when you chew gum, you use the same muscles as you do, when you eat food (of course), which makes your brain sent signals to your body, that food is coming down. When there’s no food coming down, your body gets confused and even hungry
great tips but i think that even if you want a snack why not eat a fruit. an apple or banana. its perfect and it fills you up and at the same time it does not get you fat.
Here is the reason why you feel hungry after chewing gum….
When you start chewing that piece of gum, your mouth basically starts simulating the process of eating regular food. This means the saliva in your mouth is kick starting the digestion process. All the stomach acids and fluid get ready to breakdown and digest the food. BUT the body doesn’t know that there is no food coming. It’s just thinking “okay any minute the food that’s being chewed upstairs is going to enter the system” but it never does save for the 1 or 2 grams of sugar that is in that piece of gum. That’s why the longer you chew the gum the stronger the hunger pangs get.

What should you eat when you waited too long to eat? I’m so famished at that point, I want to eat everything and it seems to take more to satisfy me. I know the obvious that I shouldn’t wait too long to eat but sometimes I don’t realize how long it has been since my last meal.
I take medication that requires food so I dont hurt my stomach. Should I just wait until the next meal to truely feel hungry

I keep my diet really simple when I’m trying to lose weight. Meat, cheese, water, tea, black coffee. No sauses on the meat. Nothing fried. I eat Rotisserie chicken steak. Fish. Then I fast. I’ll start out usually 8/16. Then I push it to one meal a day.
Then I’ll break on the weekend. I don’t drink more than one alcoholic beverage. Perhaps a whiskey maybe a beer. Otherwise just water. I eat what I want 1 or 2 times a day. Then Sunday I’ll have my last meal and fast. Now I fast for 44 hours and eat meat then fast again for 44 hours can’t quite make it to 48 yet.
Now I broke my fast and had some carbs. Good sized meal. Fast again until tomorrow.
In a month I went from 195 after eating to 181 after eating. Very happy with the results. I’m going to continue until I reach 170 then I’ll go on OMAD with carbs and lifting. Then I’ll work on some cardio too.
Fasting keeps me disciplined because once you break it you have to start over again from the beginning. I’m not going to sacrifice a good 16 hour fast for a donut. I’ll just make sure I get it on the weekend.
I’ve found that over the past 2 years I started at 225 that I crave sweets less. Over the past year i stayed mostly 185-190 max 195 and lowest about 180.
Also. For men. Get a good thick belt. Throw or give away all your other belts. Get rid of clothes too big for you. Buy clothes that are a little tight. You’re simply not allowed to buy bigger clothes. Your belt might be tight one day… Guess that means you’re going to have to make some changes.
Eating even if not hungry has been my biggest challenge. So stupid, but so true.
The thing with gum is that you’re swallowing a lot of saliva. That tricks your stomach into thinking there’s gonna be food, so you automaticly get hungry.
10/10 I do a 72+ hour fast every week and have zero carb cravings.
The main thing is not to go straight into omad but to adapt because if your body isn’t burning it’s own fat it used it’s own protein once glucose is burned off. So it’s very important to eat when ur hungry and get off all medications and drugs. Including coffee he only recommends it during the adaption phase, even though he drinks a small cup everyday, in his book he recommends a replacement coffee but I forgot what it is. He explains it a believe the name his oldest video where he explains what he eats in a day.
Also, vegetables if they make you bloat switch to lowfodmap leafy green vegetables like bok Choy, if it still makes you bloat then steam them, if they still make you bloat eat 6 oz versus 7 oz. Because bloating cause stress.
Also, gmo low quality food makes people bloat.
After a week on the carnivore diet, I no longer had any cravings for sugar and carbs. It is really easy to resist temptation to eat junk now. Before, if someone brought in donuts or something, I would always have one or two, regardless of whether I was hungry or not.

I’m going thru a very very hard breakup and it started when I realized the ex moved on so fast and I was trying to keep her but she wanted to move on and was falling for someone else…..I would eat all the time none stop until I was full full and now I barely eat a tiny bowl of food a day….and for me it doesn’t feel like I’m hungry at all and sometimes I only eat 2 spoon full of food and that’s it. I suffer from Anorexia. I am trying to push myself to eat Corn Flakes and/or oatmeal in the mornings before school. I do infact drink black coffee in the mornings for caffeine. Partly because I wake up at 4:30 AM everyday. I do sometimes have binge episodes from restricting so much throughout the week.
Americans eat and drink almost every minute, especially my black brothers, even though they’re not hungry and not to mentioned the huge menus at McDonald. I know this youtuber guy, who always eat and drink during his shows and he makes me regurgitate.
The brownie for example, hits our pleasure centers and easily accessible so we react to this stimulus as a lion would to a huge slab of meat thrown in front of him. For me, it is the stress factor or yes sometimes boredom. I have taught myself to distract myself from the food, by going to do something else go for a walk, do some artwork, whatever. Habit is a funny thing Mario, in that the auto-pilot thing gets a trigger. Here is an example by me. As a child, my Mom would always ask me without fail, if I need to go to the bathroom before we went out. So today as an adult, I will always go before leaving the house, even if I went only 5-10 minutes before. Crazy! Lol…. Helen
Potentially if you are fully recovered is it good idea to start eating more “clean” food and cout calories, i don’t mean starving yourself i mean enough good calories if you have certain fitness and body shape goals?

Diabetics are a bit different though they must eat on some sort of schedule or so many times per day. I don’t eat anything for 3 hours after I get up because I’m not hungry and I wake up nauseous every day and food sounds gross. But 3 p.m.? I’m ready for my overnight oats or hot oatmeal or something a smoothie. I never used to eat until 9 p.m. at night and it was ramen noodles every single day for years. Then I went vegan and I am a much healthier happier human being! It works for me and whatever works for someone else should do what works for them.

Since I started Keto and IF, (OMAD or OMAD every other day) I never craved for sugar… but look forward to the next healthy meal I’ll be preparing, like a big bowl of salad with yummy things like some tomatoes, olives, bell peppers, a few crushed nuts and some proteins, like an egg, piece of meat, some shrimps… Creating recipes, watching and testing others… My weight isn’t going down for the moment but I’ll keep on going. At one point it will go down!
I was wondering how long I could fast safely. I’ve done several times 72h without a problem and I’m playing around with different fasting periods but I wonder if that’s the right thing to do to get over plateau.

I do fully acknowledge that i over eat and i tell myself that every time the biscuit, crisps and chocolate wrappers all hit the bin! I need help. Nothing helps. Nothing. Never. Otherways we were not watching this in search of solutions. Nothing helps.
How to stop that “mouth hunger” craving.
1. Drink a few gulps of cold water. Identify did I feel that cold water go into my stomach? I think most of us know that feeling it’s actually not super pleasant. If you feel it, then you might actually be hungry and should eat. If you don’t feel it, don’t eat but drink more water!
2. Brush your teeth an tung (especially near the back).
4. Chew gum
5. Portion control is everything. If you are trying to loose weight then reduce your portions at every meal to about 2/3 of what you would normally eat. This is so easy because I promise you will still be satiated after this amount. If you are over weight it is because you are eating too much clearly (unless an underlying medical problem). This is the hardest thing to accept (I lost 50 lbs after I accepted this and followed these practices). As the weeks go on and your body adjusts, you may even be able to reduce your portions even more to about 1/2 of the original but find yourself eating more frequently through out the day due to actual hunger. This is what we want!
6. If you are going to snack on something unhealthy portion control! Instead of having a whole piece of cake only have 2/3 or 1/2 of what would have been normal for you before. This works with every food. Normally eat a whole bag of chips in one sitting? Portion only 2/3 or 1/2 of that into a SEPARATE container to eat.
7. Proteins and fats are our friends sugar, artificial sugars, and grease are our enemies. If you eat a diet high in the enemy foods your hunger may feel debilitating. I personally feel sick, nauseous and headachy. So much so you will eat all the time to avoid this. At the point, I usually only experience that type of debilitating hunger during and after a vacation where I have eaten out constantly (I normally eat primarily home-made food). I don’t know how it works but it does. When you eat a friendly food diet instead your hunger will come on much more slowly, not feel so bad, and be much more manageable if you can’t eat right at this moment.
8. Always carry ONE healthy emergency snack on you at all times (in your purse, bag, or car). I usually have a mandarin orange, because it is enough to get me through the next 30 mins to 1 hour when I need it without feeling hungry if I can’t eat a meal right away. And oranges are amazingly transportable.
Once again I lost 50 lbs and have kept it off. I feel so free and all I had to do was listen to my body.:) I wish someone had spelled this out to me at an earlier age.
If you don’t have much time:
1. If you think you’re hungry, but you’re not really sure, you’re most likely not actually hungry
2. Learn what real hunger feels like for your body
3. Try locating where your feeling of hunger is in your body
However, I would recommend watching the whole video, since it’s very informative and easy to understand
Im not in recovery yet but everytime i try i fell so full so quickly. And after two big meal bcs i binge. I cant eat more. And i feel so bad to feel full is uncomfortable. And is take me after like days for digest the food. I cant. I want eat everytime i try recover like i want eat everything but my body can follow.

I was raised by a single parent. Mom had to work every day so she felt guilty about leaving me alone. The way she showed her love was to feed me. I did get the healthy foods, but the junk foods came along with them whenever I wanted. Mom has passed on now and I’m trying to overcome the “nothing says lovin’ like something from the oven” syndrome.

I’ve heard people say that there is no need to eat 3 times a day.
People have to realise that hormones have a play in this. Leptin and grelin are hunger control hormones. Also if other hormones are out it could completely throw out your hunger hormones. Eg. thyroid. Get your hormones checked!

Thanks for sharing this info, so there are many of us who struggle with how to control craving (eat / overeat when you are not hungry, just the lust / craving for certain food which are usually unhealthy). I find it to be helpful to eat based on my biological clock (eat before I get too hungry, then it’s much less likely tend over eat).
What about in my case.. last Bulimic episode was 20years ago now. My health got ruined before that. Chronic fatigue inflammation digestive issues no appetite leaky gut acne.. etc.. still have not healed my body. Tried so many healing regimes.. still stuck and suffering.

The difference of eating from hunger and binge eating/eating from boredom is cravings. If you’re hungry you’re body will crave food to actually refuel itself. So things like protein, carbs, and healthy fats. If you’re binging, you’re body is craving something sweet or savory or fattening. I don’t think people binge on carrots but they do binge on chips and candy.
If I’m having a day where i just know im gonna eventually binge. I eat grapes instead of candy to relieve my sweet tooth(:

For me personally I always need 3 meals. If I don’t feel hungry for dinner I’ll still eat something because if I don’t I’ll just wake up from my sleep and then eat. And I value my sleep a lot so I don’t like waking up in the middle of the night. Plus often times if I eat something then I sorta realize that I’m hungry since I’m not very good with sensing those things. But my body has it’s own time schedule for when to eat so that’s why I also know when to eat during the day. Before my eating habits were slightly not good. I would have bouts have extreme hunger or overeat at times, but now that I’ve regulated my eating better I don’t find myself starving (because who likes that anyway).

Thank you so much for this information, looking all over the internet to find an easy answer to my problem. I started 6week challenge, and following 1.75 meal nutrition plan and do exercise 5/6days for 45-60 min weekly. Am completely full, can’t look at food even, and no interest of meals that made me happy. Not craving any sweet nor meals. I get nausea for forcing food and want to throw up. I do get stomach ache here and there!

When you are “eating your own fat” are you decreasing the volume of fat in your fat cells and over time are reducing the population of fat cells? In biology there is a what is considered a population of cells model in aging to where in the early stages of life where the population growth rate of cells exceeds the death rate, plateauing, then the death rate exceeds growth towards the end of the life cycle. Can you reduce the plateau population such that organs like the skin will shrink (become more taught) in conjunction with your with the size of other organs (and possibly increased density of organs)? I used to not be able to go to bed without eating some chocolates or sweet things (macaroons etc). After starting keto diet and IF I often got craving for chocolates. I was so happy when I found sugar free (but super expensive) Venchi chocolates and thought they were God sent as they were so tasty, just like the real thing, and I used to look forward to eating them everyday. A few months later after cutting out all sugary and things with carbs, I have had no cravings for unhealthy junk food anymore, my only cravings now are for salads and vegetables; I don’t even crave for chocolates anymore, not even sugar free ones. I guess the Venchi chocolates were like Methadone that wean one off heroin. My 2 cents. 😉
Dr Berg, I recently started quiting foods which are loaded with sugar. Some organic items like kale, spinach, and lettuce which I bought this week have had labellings which read total sugar 1g, so what is that total sugar? I know the added sugar is to be avoided. I did recently learn a really HARD lesson about wheat, though… proved that I cannot eat it (or drink beer) without suffering for days… it’s not the gluten, it’s the wheat. I’ve always been sensitive and knew that, but now it’s PROVEN. NO MORE WHEAT FOR ME EVER!
alright if ur a kid, i have a tip for you, don’t just go upstairs and sit on your phone all day, get hungry, and snack on more food. take some classes, or go to the park, or play a sport, or go swimming, or do some sort of art project or something. If your doing something, you end up not thinking about your hunger cuz ur busy and you end up not eating.

This is honestly revolutionary and straight forward advice. I personally lost 50 lbs eating this way over only a couple of months. I hate being sweaty so exercise isn’t my cup of tea. When you said that you feel fake hunger more in your mouth than stomach that REALLY resonated with me. Because even though I have achieved this practice and have continued to maintain it for the last year that description has allowed me to now put into words the difference between these two feelings. The only thing I would add which I think is missing from much info about the “eating only when hungry” style of nutrition/weight loss is also portion control! If we are eating only when hungry but then eating too much at one time it will be such a long time till we feel hungry again that it becomes easier to justify eating when not hungry. So I would recommend that people also reduce your meal size portions to about 2/3 of normal (I just do this visually). You can substitute pretty much any amount of veggies to make up for the missing amount of your main meal if it makes you feel better mentally about the reduction in food. If you eat smaller portions, you will get hungry more frequently and therefore give yourself the opportunity and permission to indulge in the reward of food again! The biggest thing I have realized from eating this way is there is always more food. There will always be more opportunities to eat so we don’t need to eat so much at one time. Wait until we actually feel the need and then I promise you your food will also be 10x as satisfying and tasty than if you are just eating out of habit.:)

Problem is mentally, food is my reward after a hard days work
I feel a whole torso hunger, from my mouth down to my intestines, and I can eat, and eat, and eat, and not really feel ‘full’, until the painful bloat sets in rather quickly.
Hunger wise I find it very easy but my problem is at around 40+ hrs I start yawning and feel tired. I do take electrolytes daily. Its the one stall I have to doing 2 or more day fasts, I’m not sure how to avoid the sleepy effect around that time. Advice?
Normally I do omad and I take plenty of nutritional yeast and other supplements with my meal, I haven’t taken those on 2 day fasts as I’m not having any fats to absorb them with.

Ive lost 70lbs so id say I’m near a 10 on discipline but the other day there was some cake icing readily available….. I took a bit on a spoon after my meal. Still in ketosis though. And sometimes I’ll have a second meal. For some reason it seems like I’ll lose a bit more weight if I do 2 meals instead of 1.

I’m an 8-9 on resisting temptations. My husband has a lot of junk food in his life so it’s always in front of me, I give myself a 9-10 on resisting his junk with only an occasional bubble. Once in a while I cave to my homemade sourdough bread, actually I plan on it, but other than that, I’m pretty good.
hi Mario I been making my treats at home I get recipes from you tube mainly from the protein chef channel if you make treats that will fit your macros you won’t have desire to overeat for example I make a cheese cake it’s 30 g of pure dairy protein if you make food like that you having a meal and desert at same time the best way I found to stick to your diet plan it’s to eat more at home specially if your a big eater like me I need high amounts of volume to satisfy me so I’m happy eating at home most of the time and the food is so much better that’s why we eat right cause we like to eat I eat delicious foods everyday but on my days off I spend some time in the kitchen cooking but I enjoy the process,so many people like to eat out but here in the states the restaurant food it’s very commercialized restaurants need to make a profit now that I’m eating at home I can have some delicious dishes and I noticed the quality of the food and the nice part I can eat alot of food and not worry about getting fat cause I know what’s in the food.so myself if I see the brownies I won’t have one and just wait till I get home or the next day and make something delicious because I know my stuff will be very nutritious and taste much better so that’s the key everyday if you want to make a treat that eats like a meal you won’t have cravings.

After watching this video, I could sense what is real is hunger and what is mouth hunger (Emotional Hunger)….I could sense it and I have ability to stop over eating now. But few people couldn’t stop due to their addition towards mouth hunger. They may need Hypnotist or Psychologist to fix their minds. Dr Berg. You are absolutely right. Don’t keep anything in the house. When I have bad nights it’s as problem. I couldn’t sleep one night I bought some chocolate with biscuits. And bloody hell. I thought I can have just one. After that one more. I the Morning I discovered all pack is gone….Nearly 500 calories. Since then never ever again. When I passing in Supermarket lovely pastries I just sending a kiss. Pretending I had. And very proud of myself going home. I feel constantly full, I know that I’m not hungry and don’t need food. But I can’t stop thinking about food, even though I don’t want to I will binge (have to say that eating don’t give me any pleasure), during the meals I always tell to myself ‘you will eat after this meal anyway’ my mind is not satisfied during the meal and this is hurting me so bad. when you chew gum your brain recognises the action of you chewing and your stomach etc gets ready to digest the food that is supposedly being eaten but of course no food comes so it makes you feel hungry, not sure if that’s entirely right but that’s what i was told:)

When I was in grade 10, about 15 years old, I weighed 115 lbs. I never really craved food. Matter of fact, I could go most of the day without breakfast and lunch. My parents were never around and I got up took care of myself all the time. Most of the time when my parents were around, they saw me eat a lot because that time during the day I would eat more portions and they would always make remarks as though I was fat or chubby or piggish because of the way I ate and the fat that I had more fat than muscle. Being 115 lbs with more fat than muscle is quite a difference. I really had more of a need to crave food when I lost close friends and loved ones. By grade 12, I weighed 155 lbs. First year in university, I lost 30 lbs after getting pneumonia and my grandmother died later on. I gained back up to 145 lbs by the end of second year. In my third year, when I turned 20 years old, I weighed 170 lbs after taking birth control to help with terrible menstrual pains as recommended by my gynaecologist. I feel as though I don’t want to eat as much but, my belly grumbles as I am accustomed to eating a certain amount of food in weight everyday. People say I look fat and that I gained weight. I feel pretty bad because I try so hard with my weight and I get put down like this. It is really hard to manage and I don’t want to do it on my own. But, I have no choice because I have no support system.

Currently I’ve been enjoying a larger meal around afternoon time. I’ve been finding that I’m not that full or satisfied after and I’m guessing because it usually consists of about 3 different meals; yoghurt+fruit, a sandwich & a bowl of cereal. Totals around 1000-1200 calories
Today I’m going to single out one of the meals and still total it to 1000-1200 and see if it had a positive effect
