I love Natural heaven’s angel hair and Miracle noodles I’ve been buying miracle noodles for over a year I’m a type one diabetic on Keto
I’m a diehard zoodle fan and just want to say they are actually EASY to make. I have tried many different types of spiralizers, one being the $100 kitchenaid attachment you mentioned and found them all to be cumbersome and a pain to clean — until I found a little handheld spiralizer called Vegeti for $10 on Amazon. This thing makes zoodles almost effortlessly and it requires no electricity. I make zoodles a couple times a week now!
Is there any place on the Keto Diet for wheat pasta? I gave up “regular” pasta some time ago and found I actually prefer the taste of wheat pasta. I don’t have it often, maybe once a month. (That’s not a lot, right?)
Anywho, I want to start the Keto Diet so I’ve been checking out your videos. Give it to me straight: Will I have to give up wheat pasta forever?
Actually, if you get whole winter squash, they aren’t that perishable. I grow my own and they’ll sit on the shelf, so long as the outer rind is intact, for months on end. I can’t speak to the nutrient profile by that time, but they have by no means gone rancid or bad.
Or…orrrrr just stop demonizing carbs like a simpleton who thinks carbs make you fat
Thank you so much for this valuable overview. You keep bringing up the latest and newest trends, which is super cool. I called my Asian store this morning, and they sell palm hearts in glasses (not in tins I am thrilled!!!) for a reasonable price.
Shirtake/konjac noodles I have eaten frequently. Now that I have learnt that eating them reduces the hunger hormone level, I am definitely going to eat them more regularly. The important thing is to drink a lot of water when eating konjac.
I have found black bean pasta is delicious, but it is difficult to find. Plus it looks like small licorice whips. However, I have gotten beyond worrying about that; it tastes just FINE! I have found them before at Costco, but recently it has been disappearing from there. Maybe if enough people request them, they will come back.
Did anyone try mixing with cauliflower rice to add better texture?
Hearts of palm (palmini) is soo soo soo good. I highly recommend it.
I like Spaghetti Squash with extra-virgin olive oil, salt, pepper, and some dried Italian herbs on it. Not a huge fan of it as “a marinara transport agent”-it’s OK, but I prefer Zoodles for that. Not all zoodle-makers are expensive. I got one that works like a cheap pencil sharpener-you just put the end of the zucchini (or carrot or whatever) into it and twist. The zoodles come out the side. No moving parts to break and under $20 on Amazon.
Omad 5 days a week and 2 days just a 600cal meal before bedtime.. Train fasted and then you can eat what you want….
My favorite:
Kelp noodles.
Edamame pasta is another one..
High fiber, low carb.
9 net carbs
24g protein
1120g potassium!
With 12 grams of fiber
Non GMO, Organic
Seapoint Farms. The lowest carb brand.
Your welcome
Hi! I eat seaweed noodles instead of pasta. A tip: I don’t like the rubber taste but if you place the noodles in the pastasauce and then heat the noodles up (in the pasta sauce) then after a minute they become soft like regular noodles/spagetti.
use a hand-held julienne slicer to make zoodles without an expensive gadget.
I appreciate that you actually put the information in the description. Some of us like to read instead of listening to it. I’ve subscribed to your channel.
Shirataki noodles are disgusting. I followed fhe directions by washing them several times and heating them and it was still gross
why haven’t they made pizza and hot pockets out of these ingredients yet?
Would you pleaaaassse talk about lentil pastas? It’s hard to find much on whether it’s really a better pasta alternative or not
1 medium zucchini: 6 gms carbs + 2 gms fiber = 4 gms net carbs. Doesn’t sound like a lot to me.
Not liking any of that alternatives, I just eat pasta if I want it to once in a while and get over my craving. I craved pasta maybe three times a year or so.
I watch your videos faithfully and have learned so much from you! You are very smart and you break things down. You are doing God’s work. Keep it up! ❤
So the iodized salt is stripped of minerals. So tf what. After decades of being told “salt is bad for you” and uniodized sea salt is better” not all people are getting adequate iodine. The amount of minerals in sea salt is so minimal as to be insignificant and if you get those minerals from regular food, you’re not doing it right
I have been eating palm of hearts for a year and I am loving it. Nice job
I haven’t eaten pasta in years. I actually love zoodles and spaghetti squash. However, I will also use Healthy noodles from time to time. Have you heard of them? You can get them at Costco.
Pasta is not bad if it isnt fully processed look at Italy for example. They have the oldest population in the world. What do they eat? Pasta and dough heavy meals. Look at Japan, second oldest population, statistically trim, what do they eat? Starch heavy foods, such as potato and rice. I’m not anti keto, but blaming carbs for your weight problems is silly. I’m down 60 pounds in 4 months after switching from a keto like diet, protein focused to a plant based carb diet. I’m not saying keto doesn’t work, it does, but it’s nowhere near as healthy. One thing I like but also dislike about keto is that it’s an easier option for people swapping from the westernized American diet, but at the same time people canabuse the fact you can eat bacon etc, and will obviously go overboard and stretch the limits (not everyone, but a lot I assume would). Anyways take care, I still watch your channel a lot and it initially inspired me to change for the better and to research nutrition more. You’re a really nice dude and I’m sure you help a lot of people with your videos
This Konjac stuff gives me nasty indigestion lol. Anyone else??
It’s my frist time trying „fasting” and I’m still new to all of this, maybe I’ll try keto one day, but right now I have a ton of questions in mind. One important, as I am from Italy, eating 2/3 whole grain pasta in a week it’s a good idea, for example with tuna, and in other occasions change with rice?
Why is this guy yelling and talking like he’s a robot made for educating toddlers.
This is the most incredible thing ever. Seriously, they taste indistinguishable from regular rice noodles. These are the perfect substitute for regular noodles in any Asian dish.
Thomas, This is a great video! I was just thing about this topic. Trying to find a video on the difference between Keto-Mojo test strips. However, I appreciate all your education. Just a newbie here and feeling scattered but it will register over time..LOL
Who says pasta is unhealthy?
You get fat from the combo of carbs AND fat
We Indonesians will be the chief producer of this konjac things in the world. All organic. If you want to invest this ever growing plants to become huge business, contact me on WA 62 87880569911. My name is Setya of Indonesia. Paradise on earth. From planting the seed up to cooking the number one and two most delicious foods according to CNN.
I have never eaten hearts of palm so I was getting really excited about this… But a quick Google search showed that 100 grams hearts of palm have a whopping 26 grams of carbs, and less than 2 grams of fibre … that’s not keto enough for me!! Another quick Google search yielded that the foods with the highest copper content are liver and oysters! Well, I happened to have liver this morning it’s one of the most nutrient-dense foods, so I have it at least twice a week… you can keep the hearts of palm!!
During the lockdown i am doing this:
Drink a Glass of WATER,
Then have a BIG ASS SALAD
Then eat what you LIKE.
I’m happy, not cutting anything out and losing weight
I actually really like zoodles I started using them as a pasta replacement prior to keto when I wanted a ‘sauce delivery device’ without the starch. I don’t use a KitchenAid attachment…there’s the Inspiralizer and Paderno (?) spiralizers which work really great and are around $30-$40. It’s actually worth it if you eat them a lot bc the prepared noodles are around $8/package in my grocery store. My 2 y.o. Also really likes to watch the veggie turn into ribbons which is an added bonus.
in my country konjac very much, maybe someone will order (can message at email [email protected])
Its been over a year now since this idiot stopped making videos. Since then he has been making commercials… every fking video.
Thomas, thank you so much for the great work.
is it safe to have non organic heart of palms?
Can you make a video on whether if creatine is good or bad for the immune system? There seems to be a fair amount of confusion surrounding it.
Been on keto and doing IF for about 8 weeks and seemed to have stalled out on weight loss. I’m 185 and dropped like 12 pounds but haven’t seemed to drop any weight in 2 weeks. You think maybe I’ve just hit a wall and will eventually breakthrough?
Hearts of palms are also good for salad:-D:-D:-D I grew up eating them!!!
You can also cook them with ground meat
I use Glucommannan powder as fiber supplement. I was wondering, if I do a fast and use that, would it break my fast?
Always great information! Love your science info. Also love the zebra picture…I have one just like it in my living room.
Honestly, I’ve tried at least 20 different gluten free low carb “has no” type brand pastas and they are all revolting, so I just eat normal pasta but about 2 thirds the portion and way less often as we all know it does bloat the shit out of most people and is probably one of the heaviest meals you can eat.. pasta is a treat these days to you can’t even get it at the shops at the moment!
Thank you again for your videos great reminder to eat healthy and good
I just made a hamburger konjac rice casserole. With onions, green peppers, garlic, cooked hamburger. Salt, pepper, parsley. I fried the rice in ghee till it started popping, added onion and green peppers and spices mushrooms and Put some tom. Sauce in it. This was delicious and will be perfect for stuffed green peppers. Very filling also.
Have you tried the elbows from the great low carb bread co.? I found them on amazon I havent tried them yet but the ingredients are (in order on label) pea protein isolate, oat fiber, wheat fiber, egg whites, wheat gluten and semolina. I dont want to get kicked out of ketosis but I know I’m human and will maintain my lifestyle especially since I have lost almost 100lbs since last may following a lot of your advice. Thank you thomas for being an inspiration to me and helping me with your videos and saving my life. Have a great day
Hey Thomas. My Macros are 19% protein 1% carb and 80% fat is that about right for a keto diet
It’s very easy to make zoodles and the tool is only 2 dollars. I have never tried squash so can’t comment
I enjoy pasta and i will continue eating it. Life is meant to be enjoyed. Dont waste your precious time here on earth trying to be sexy and impress other people.
What about the pasta from edamame beans?thank you for your great videos
Boy! I love my Zoodles! I wish Spaghetti Squash was available here. Weird that it is not here in Rural Mexico. Hearts of Palm bother me a bit, as I worry about its overall sustainability and ethical harvesting. Last two, only online, from the US with a 50% mark up, so Fine! Sticking to Zoodles. First regular dish I ever switched to Keto was a very basic Spaghetti Dish that we love with lots of garlic, mushrooms, parsley, olive oil and Spanish or Portuguese style Chorizo. Yummy, but oh so fattening if served over the usual box of pasta. Zoodles cleaned that up in a flash!! Thanks Thomas. Great Info as usual.
Thomas I purchased a device called VeggettiPro for $20.00 and works awesome at making my Zoodles. It operates manually, but it’s quick and easy to use!! I bought it at Bed,Bath&Beyond!! I highly recommend it. Thought you would like to know!!
I have Amorphophallus Muelleri (Konjac) from Indonesia…I am willing to become an exporter with a scale of thousands of Tons!
Whatsapp +6282150847373 (Indonesia Country)
Your always positive and informative and more importantly helping so many people ❤ can’t express how grateful I am for all your videos. Hope you had a lovely Easter with your beautiful family x love your work Thomas, your amazing. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!
I like the spaghetti squash & it will stay a long time if stored in a cool dry place. I like the healthy noodles from Costco too. Thanks for the info!
I came here to watch Thomas’s new video. YouTube showed me a commercial for Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, definitely not low carb. Thanks YouTube for trying to wreck my 6 pack, not going to happen.
Hello from Phoenix Arizona!
You missed cabbage! I cut it in thin lengths. Olive oil salt, pepper, garlic powder. Cook in a frying pan just slightly wilted. Cover with pasta sauce great substitute.
Love all the info behind each food. Didn’t know that about Spaghetti Squash
Health Commissioner Barbot’s PSA making a broad statement for everyone to just stay home only works for the already sick. If everyone follows it’ll further collapse the economy, increase unemployment and food shotages and suicides.
if you want buy raw konjac from indonesia please call/WA +6285791636377
Why do you keep switching positions?, every time you turn I giggle.
I just make my pasta from almond flour dough. Its even less carbs than any of the advertised keto pasta. Its my secret recipe ❤️
Thomas, congrats for sharing amazing knowledge and tips with us! What do you think of a “tricky chocolate” smoothie to break a long 20h fast? (pure cacao, brewer’s yeast, pure curcumin, fresh lemon/lime juice and water)
Totally forgot about greens. Spaghetti, currys, and etc are wonderful over greens.
Let’s start the week off right, with some PASTA… alternatives that are LOW CARB!! Thanks for watching the video and supporting the CHANNEL!! Don’t forget to LIKE the video!! If you have any questions and/or ideas for future videos, drop them in the COMMENTS below!!
No Thomas, i love ur vids and so… but you were 280 pound because you were on juice and wanted to gain massssss.
This is awesome! My husband and I were just talking about low carb noodles yesterday! These are great options! Thank you!!!
I’d love a video with a bunch of your favourite different carbs that you have when not following keto. Do you recommend sweet potatoes, brown rice, quinoa, gluten free rice noodles? I cook in healthy oils and eat a ton of green veggies but I’m always searching for healthy carbs to make my diet more healthy and enjoyable too. I’d love to see some Thomas approved carbs in a day on non keto eating!
How about gluten free rice noodles? Not a keto option but might be good to have in the evening so the sugar crash is in line with bed time which is a good thing, right? What do you think Thomas?
Zucchini pasta is ok but the rest are nasty. Those konjac noodles are not practical for a family. You’ll have to buy so much packs
Hey Thomas. Great videos as usual. I have a request. Can you please cover the topic of diet for those who are not as active? I understand that it’s “easy” for people to do burpees, etc in their homes during the apocalypse but generally, most people are not very active right now. Keto and/or mediterranean keto might be helpful? Or maybe something better? Less calories? Vegetarian? Thanks, and always great to see your videos. You are a daily inspiration.
Another alternative to pasta is NuPasta, which is made with the root of the konjac plant.
Have tried Hearts of Palm pasta and it’s the closest to real pasta as I could find and it’s good.
Informative and applicable as always Thomas. Your love for pasta spoke to my soul. If anyone’s looking for an AMAZING keto pasta recipe made with zucchini and pesto, check out the video on my channel. Rachel ray and Guy Fieri loved it. (Seriously)
I’m not big on marinara on any pasta substitute but the palmini noodles have a recipe on their page for alfredo that is amazing on hearts of palm.
Can you freeze them after cooking? Are they reheatable or must they be eaten immediately?
Hi Thomas, i haven’t read too much about moving your eating window around. During the week, when I work I eat from 8-4pm. Then on Saturday I sleep in and eat from noon to 8pm. Then on Sunday I eat from noon to 4pm so that I can eat on Monday at 8am-4pm because I start work at 6am and have to eat at 8am during the week. I am switching to shift work and this will get even harder.
My question is…as long as I fast for 16 hours can I move my eating window around by shortening it and extending my fast for longer than 16 hours? What I’m doing now seems to be working but I’m wondering if you have any tips for shift workers.
Also is there a certain body fat percentage where fasting doesn’t work anymore?
Thanks for the videos!!
I love zoodle primavera. I use the lowest carb pizza sauce I can find, ten times less sugar than regular jar sauce which I won’t use.
“They’re screaming with joy that they are ready to have sauce poured all over them.”
Well, okay then
Can you clarify why we cannot eat it with protein? I’ve been eating mine with chicken.:(
konjac in Indonesia called Porang..you can get konjac very easy in Indonesia
You can get a manual spiralizer for $23 so not really expensive at all, and it is fun to make zoodles. Frankly pasta is mostly bland and tasteless to me. I always considered it a sauce delivery mechanism, not really the main star of the meal so I love spaghetti squash and my zoodle lasagna. My family loves it too. My blood sugar is so much better now.
Miracle noodles are the worst! They don’t digest or break down. So gross!
pasta is for Sunday’s. hollidays
family celebrations… once in a while is ok with me. but thats me.
Oh shucks, and here I was thinking I was doing something eating my chickpeas rotini pasta
No body knows about konjac in India. I tried many hours of googling and could not find a single source in India.
another weird but effective alternative are yellow (wax) beans. It loosely resembles ziti pasta noodles once the sauce and extras are added, and the texture is similar if cooked tender.
I use konjac rice and Palmini pasta. Extremely low carbs. I don’t care about calories I count carbs.
I just bought 6 packages of this konjac rice. I also fix and love Palmini pasta
I love sticky Rice the way the guy makes it it makes me kind of hungry make sure you don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel and watch my new video right now and like the video
The reason Konjac is a good substitute is that, unlike grain, Konjac fiber does not affect blood sugar. If you cook konjac with breaded or glazed meats and add all sorts of sugary sauces it completely defeats its purpose for weight loss. If you study physiology you realize that counting carbs and lowering insulin is the answer to weight loss.
Konjac was created in China first, a few hundred years ago. It is eaten in China, Japan and Korea. It is tasteless, so in China we usually eat it with hotpot. It is really really low in calories.
These are great. They really fill you up. Just make sure you rinse them properly, because the water they come in smells a bit like fish.
If you try this, know that it causes a lot of movement in your digestive tract. I’m used to eating a lot of fiber and I wasn’t even ready for this side effect. And I only ate 1 serving. So be careful on your serving sizes when first trying this! Also make sure you drink plenty of water. Just a little PSA. Have a great day everyone!
Miracle noodles can also cause instant diarrhea within 30 minutes of eating! Holy shit! I was not prepared for this!
You need to recreate Lasagna noodles, macaroni and rice paper….. that would be so great!
Iodine is not hard to get if u eat eggs or seafood. Land animal have enough (carnivore diet which is keto is really the right human diet, plants are really just survival food. If ur eating mostly plants then iodine is hard to get. U should really be trying to get people to eat mostly meat and some veggies if they like instead of keto pasta or keto cereal. People need real food. Before someone argues with me, almond flour bake goods here and there are fine but those keto substitutes shouldn’t be ur diet
What does everyone here recommend for pasta sauce? Is Rao’s good? BTW, years ago I used to eat a lot of capers to get quercetin.
What other stores can I find those besides Meijer? They only carry angel hair
You can’t put on weight from pasta! It’s just wheat! What will cause weight gain is oily pasta sauces. Thomas is just here to push products you don’t need. Fat makes you fat. Check out Durianrider’s channel.
Hello, big fan of the channel. Doing low carb, and IF. I just came across this article. Any thoughts? https://www.runnersworld.com/news/a26907351/low-carb-diet-atrial-fibrillation/?utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=socialflowFBRW&utm_medium=social-media
Thanks ever so much for the shirataki noodle recommendation really looking forward to stir fry again now I’ve gone keto ☺️
Just tried the fetuccine and rice and LOOOOVED it! made chicken fettucine with my own home made alfredo sauce. It was great and the rice i made it like a stir fry. I do recommend boiling a little more than suggested so the texture is not as rubbery.
If they are so great, why arent people in Asia eating them?
At around 2:40 you recommend substituting traditional pasta/rice for your noodles, but you mean the reverse.
