Both sides are correct. If I eat low carb (Keto or Atkins) OR high carb, I get back to 4.2 sugar level. However the moment I combine fat and carbs, then my sugar levels skyrocket. I have tested this on 3 others. Why aren’t both the teams looking into working together on this?

The fact that newborns are in nutritional ketosis at least as long as they on breast milk is interesting. The LCHF diet is the best diet for pregnant women and no doubt for growing children.
meanwhile For the last 10 months I have been carnivore (dirty version a bit) and have saved my own life from congestive heart disease and also have lost 85 lbs as a bonus. Those liars almost killed me! I am eating cheapo bacon and eggs right now with 2 small slices of avocado (there is the dirty part-LOL). When I stick to pure carnivore I do even better physically! But I have PTSD and it is hard and I just admit I am not perfect and move on!

Which people are they studying?!? I’ve been on their crappy dietary advice for 40 years and it led me to obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure! Great for them as they’re all earning by selling me loads of pills with no chance to ever come off it if I only keep following their guidelines. Anyway, following keto and intermittent fasting has normalised my a1c, blood pressure and cholesterol. I’ve also lost over 50 pounds by eating great food and not starving myself. Now my GP is worried his money source is dwindling and he’s started telling me that I’ll be suffering severe side effects long term by not eating enough carbs… yeah right. I actually think this borders on criminality by a group of people who we are supposed to be able to trust to help us get healthier! They’re making us very sick instead! I’m just really angry about what’s going on…

Have you ever noticed on TV when the Keto comes up the host always “Oh that’s fat oh no I couldn’t” and the subject is dropped right away. It never occurs to them that a nice bowl of blueberries and cream with coffee and cream might be nice. Or bacon and eggs for brekkie. NO! It’s just FAT…….
In 3 months the Keto diet helped me: Lose 52lb, cleared my brain fog, cured my depression and extreme sugar addiction, increased my sex lust, gained lean muscle mass without exercising (no idea why), stabilized my blood sugar, removed all joint aches in the morning, changed my relationship with food and a massive boost of energy even when I haven’t eaten for a while. I am satiated for a long time after eating, also my bowel movements are more consistent and I’m not constipated any longer.
I should add that I am kind of doing an almost carnivore diet, I don’t eat plant oils and fruit because I don’t feel optimal when consuming them. I eat maybe 5-10g of carbs per day on average. I don’t consume much diary but when I do it’s only unpasteurized. I drink unpasteurized milk once every few weeks because my stomach and digestive system loves it (I guess it’s because of the bacteria but I’m no nutritionist so idk lol), I just eat whatever makes me feel optimal. Ate a lot of broccoli and green leaves, olive oil etc first month but cut that out last 2 months and I felt even better. Also I eat organ meats every other week like veal heart, liver etc I’m currently trying to find more good fresh sources for organ meats because they don’t last as long in the fridge as meats. Also I’m a typical Swede so I eat fatty fish every morning which gives me a nice boost lol.
I guess I’m every dietitians worst nightmare but I feel so amazing and strong every day now with crystal clear mind. Will probably never go back to carbs, haven’t had any cheat days/meals yet because I no longer crave sugar and low nutrient dense food.

I question the promotion of “plant” based diets, probably in support of mock meat, as the plants-based food is made from wheat and soy not colourful vegetables like I had imagined.

One website particularly helped me called the diet doctor supported by qualified medical practitioners it has half a million hits per day it provides education support testimonials and guides for healthy eating. This is not a fad it really works and helps with many health problems. It actually saved my life and this piece really angered me. Some medical practitioners are beginning to catch up with recent research unfortunately the medical system all over the world is bogged down by doctors like the ones we see here today a very misleading representation of what the keto diet is

Take it easy on this lady. This is what she has been taught, the scientific studies she’s been exposed to have confirmed this, and this is what Mayo expects there employees to maintain. The words are coming out of her mouth but it really has nothing to do with her. The human body is very strange. We’ve seen people greatly improve their health on the Mayo diet, we’ve seen people do it on Keto diet, vegetarian diets, and let’s not forget the longest living humans on the planet are Okinawans who until recently ate mostly Asain sweet potatoes, rice, and only a couple small servings of fish or pork per week. Which would indicate a natural low fat low meat whole foods diet being most beneficial. However, this may not work for you.
Vegan Keto maybe or Paleo Keto, I can’t decide with all these varying opinions but REAL RAW FOOD without added chemicals and processes and hydrogenated oils are the way to go for sure. Im on a keto diet and i eat 1 meal a day late at night usually have eaither steak fish or bacon and iv been taking multi vit tablets with iron in and cod liver oil tablets and 7000mg green tea tablets i reckon i have asthma and my breathing aint that good it mistly happens late at night n i have a cuople pieces of 90% dark chocolate by lindt and some babybells not much i drink some coffee with lacto free semi or full fat milk with 2 teaspoons xylitol am i doing anything wrong i am really over weight but iv been on this diet a few times before i dint really feel that good onit but it did lose loads of weight just never stuck at it

Lebanese thick yogurt ” Labne” is so rich in fat it is nearly cheese they strain it further to make a cheese covered with herbs and spice. I would rate it as much better than any other yogurt.

For toddlers yogurt, it is not easy to feed from a 24 oz Organic Valley Grass fed and then put rest in the refrigerator to be used next day. It is difficult to pack for day care or school. I have never seen Stonyfeld organic 100% grass-fed Greek yogurt anywhere. Sad but true, have to stick to Yoplait or Activia multi-pack options just because of the daily use size and taste preferred by kids. Experimented with siggi’s Icelandic yogurt, though expensive, kids were receptive but didn’t like the thick texture. If you are a mom, you will know how tough it is to be a mom.

The Mayo Clinic is not a cutting edge medical institution. They are a big government, tow the line, government and private institution establishment grant based organization. These kind of groups always look to maintain the status quo because their income and reputations depend on it.
I don’t cut out vegetable foods, just the unhealthy ones. No roots, no fruits, no grains and no sugar or sugar alcohol. As a type 1 diabetic, this diet changed my life. I have control now. Real control, not the crap shoot ada doctors prescribe. Also, there are doctors who have lived this life for DECADES, suck as Dr Richard Bernstein, and are healthier than a lot of their younger counterparts. If it comes down to a bet, I’m being in the man that taught me how to take care of myself.

I don’t know how people can be so happy with keto i tried with for more than month and last 2 kilo, But it ruined my whole digestive system, i was for sure enjoying eating cream, cheese, butter and all yummy food but I definitely missed having orange, lemon, watermelon.
I lost more than 10 kilo just with reducing carb and sugar over a one year. i think people want fast result in the short time, if they can jeep it for rest of their life it’s good for them but i lover fruits and won’t give them up for a diet that I won’t keep for ever.

Wow. These three ladies are so far behind on the this keto diet. There is tons of research out the now. Lots of data. Look up Dr Ken Berry. DrJason Fung, Dr Stephen Phinny. Dr Eric Westman. I was at the mayo clinic two years ago and they were pushing this American standard diet on me. They had me go watch a video and I couldn’t believe all the bad information they’re pushing. They need to get up to speed especially their nutritionist and these women doctors on the left. Do your research people these people that are speaking now are giving you false information. I went on the keto diet and my health improved 100%. My numbers were stellar and my husbands were too. Cleveland Clinic is on board with Keto. Don’t listen to these uninformed people. Loved the chat although I am English and really don’t need reminding. My diabetes nurse when I said I had gone Keto was a stern look and the comment “oh that’s where you starve yourself”, needless to say I am having to work on my own to clear my T2D, my GP is quiet and just doing the tests. My Glucose went from 76mmol/L to 61 after just 6 weeks not eating a high carb diet/low fat diet, my next test is in May.

After two years on a Keto diet, I can honestly say that it has worked wonderfully for me. As a type 2 diabetic, I went from high metformin doses to insulin and all the other meds “needed”, pills for cholesterol, pills for high blood pressure, and the obvious loose weight and exercise more recommendations. Within three months I was not ‘needing” any of those prescriptions. I lost 43 pounds in a month and a half, never experience cravings of any type, and it is a diet so easy to sustain that I can’t believe it happened to me. especially because I tried the Atkins diet and the Mayo clinic diet before, my dietician recommended them, only to allow diabetes to continue to ravage my body. Something is definitely wrong with this “expert”. Sugar is not our friend. Carbs = Sugar. And Yes, much-needed carbs are present in The Keto diet, albeit in a more healthy, and sustainable form.
Why does fat and protein have to be the alternative fuel. Bread and pasta aren’t natural sources of energy, they just taste great. How did we survive in the winters when there were no carbs to harvest? The fats and protein help control my hunger. Carbs I find are less effective at doing this. This is why many people lose so much weight and keep it off when they control their carb intake. Carbs are not going to kill you, its how much of them you consume. I find I am always hungry when I have my carb days and I feel bad at the end of the day.
There is no one diet for every person. See what works for you and stick to that. See what gives you the best results.

As I understand, the keto diet is good for a short period of time. On the other hand, it would be hard to live a life without other nutrients found in carbohydrates. So the principle would be to find the equilibrium in our bodies (because all our bodies are different) where we consume and enjoy nutritious foods in a responsible way. I don’t think following a keto diet for all my life is realistic. But we must be careful on how to approach our individual nutritional needs. If you can go to a real specialist and follow a long term, balanced life style, do it!!

The saddest thing about these findings is the push-back against low carb diets is so overwhelmingly threatening to the drug companies and the processed food companies. These people need us sick and need us to eat as much processed food as possible to make the millions in profit they rely on. How can we honestly fight this? Processed food tastes so good and stressed parents (and stressed populations) give in to the demand for this type of food because it is ‘easy’. It’s so discouraging.

The bodybuilders of the 50 60s and 70s they would do a high protein fat very low carb diet and they were phenomenally healthy and a lot of them are still alive into their 80s and 90s healthy to…. People, especially people from northern areas of America, Europe, and Asia have existed for thousands of years eating virtually nothing but fat, fatty meat, some organs, and water. We’re talking people that were living very healthy active lives in harsh environments. You can still find pockets of these people today, but not like you could 120 years ago. Fortunately in the early 20th century there were at least a few doctors and academics willing to document, follow, and study the lives of these people. However, much of what was learned was dismissed because the information was so contrary to what was already being taught and invested in by government and business. One thing is for certain, we know very little and much of what we think we know will be obsolete in the future. Her saying there isnt much data is inaccurate. Like I said people have been eating this way for thousands of years and they were studied rather extensively.
While it’s true your brain needs glucose, it does NOT need to get them from carbs. Your liver can breakdown fats & proteins into glucose, so there is absolutely no need to eat carbs. I’ve been on the Keto diet for a week & the benefits were profound. Firstly, I noticed my weight dropping quite rapidly. Secondly, my energy levels were much better throughout the day which felt amazing as normally on a “high carb” diet I would be tired all day. Finally, and probably the best was motivation. I felt motivated to do things, whereas normally I wouldn’t it was great. Of course, there are more benefits but these are the main ones I experienced. One of the downsides to the Keto diet is maintaining it, at least for me, I will be starting again tomorrow though.

I’ve also lost weight using Dr Dean Ornish’s low fat diet (<10% of calories) and also felt great and lost weight. Seems like a placebo effect could be in play. Any diet that cause people to become conscious about eating probably helps a significant proportion of the population lose weight. I can see Keto works but at what possible long term costs? Why this and not that?

There in nothing wrong with Ketosis, but long term trying to stay in ketosis is not healthy, cause chronic disease. Cycling in and out of Ketosis, is they way to go. And great for health. make sure you add in resistant starches and prebiotic fibers, or you risk developing colon cancer, diverticulitis.
Drawbacks of Long-Term Ketosis
In my book I also discuss the “dark side” of nutritional ketosis, and why it may be inadvisable to stay in unbroken ketosis long-term. Long-term ketosis means you’re doing significant and chronic calorie restriction, and the problem with that, especially for women, is that it can cause thyroid impairment. In some cases, you can develop a resistance to your thyroid hormones.
Essentially, it appears your body was not designed for long-term calorie restriction but rather intermittent or cyclical calorie restriction. A significant part of this is because continuous calorie restriction fails to activate and optimize your rejuvenation processes. Fasting primes your body for improvement, and it does this by removing the damaged parts through autophagy.
The rejuvenation, however, occurs during refeeding. That’s when your body can rebuild and restore cells and tissues. Is heavy whipping cream the same as heavy cream? I just bought heavy whipping cream 1 gram carbs per serving, no sugar, 50 calories per tbls. I think I messed up. drank about 800 calories=16 grams carbs with clean beef and eggs for dinner. trying to gain muscle. I’m almost carnivorous only. Eat veggies about two times a week.

There are times when body does not need those high calorie heavy fats. e.g. pre-workout or post-workout. Organic + grass-fed is a formula for skyrocketing prices. Greek is already expensive to begin with.
I eat yogurt, especially greek one mainly for protein. And to some extent pro-biotics and calcium. Not for omega3 I got Salmon/pills for that:)

Very disappointed in this presentation, no research obviously just typical negativity. Ketones are not toxic and Ketones are a cleaner fuel than glucose, glucose is dirty compared to Ketones. The key driver to the Keto Diet or lifestyle is that it stabilizes high insulin levels and tames inflammation in the body it is not all about weight loss.

Thanks to you I stopped buying flavored yogurts. I now buy organic greek, Plain-and add in frozen wild organic blueberries from Costco-I prepare it over night so the blueberries defrost-its fabulous!!!!!

Thanks for the video, but once you heat up the milk over 190 ‘F it kills all I mean all nothing will be left and then you have to add culture witch is full of good bacteria then it will become a yogurt.
So it doesn’t matter organic or not organic milk as long as you don’t add anything to it.
But organic milk is good when you drink that milk.

Please do a cheese video. One aspect I’d like to hear more about are the cheeses that do and don’t elicit the dopamine effect.
I tired to find organic grass fed. Ut the best I could find around me is fage %2:(. Still better than chobani and cannon right?
I thought it has to be “grass finished” not just grass fed if u want it to be from a cow that has ONLY been fed grass. Is there any truth to this?
