Loop bands are easier to carry and they have higher resistance. They also hold longer (they are thicker, a friends tube bands are very Thin and start get lighter colour at some stretch points)
For the Problem with the Hand just use a wooden stick and wrap the band on it or a wooden pullup ring and step on the Other End.
So you can do one arm rows, curls, shoulder press, raises.
Diong pushups with Bands does not feel bad on the Hands when the band is placed on your mid Hand and not on your thump.
For legs front squats feel the best

Hey Bob and Brad, I have these bands and the anchor set, but have difficulty mounting the thicker ones. The bodylastics orange 40lb band is especially difficult slip through the center hole. Is there a larger anchor or adapter that might work with that? I’ve been making it work but I’m worried that it’s putting too much friction on the band because it’s such a tight fit. Just buy good quality resistance bands WITHOUT handles, it’s more versatile, much stronger and better to train with. Add some TRX band, weight lift and body exercises and you’re set.
I like the idea and am tempted, but have one main question: due to the constant pulling exercises, when using the door wedge, do the bands not distort/weaken the wooden door frame/plasterboard walls in a typical modern property?

Which is the best program to go with to lose fat and build muscle for a beginner aged 49? (Not a complete beginner but it’s been 20+ years since I went to the gym). This is not at all expensive. I bought light and medium bands from Decathlon (I couldn’t remember exactly. But sure, not more than 1500 Rs together)…. I felt not to buy heavy one, because u can combine Light and medium to get heavy feel. Door anchor is available in Amazon which is again not expensive.

As far as the resistance bands go, the biggest con for me is that a full set tends to be VERY expensive compared to the loops, as you stated in the video.

Blake Castle ower of bodylastics make the best amazing bands. I’ve been using them for years and their amazing. They’ll replace your band’s if they break.
I look at these and think “What is the point?” bands are good but DO NOT replace free weights. Good alternatives to cable exercises if no cable machine is available. They can help develop smaller muscles to support larger ones but larger muscles (legs, chest, back) need the resistance only from what free weights can provide. That said mixing bands with weights can often compliment each other where tension is lost in the ranges of motion in some exercises.

I think the failure was due to the wall anchor. I cannot see it (the anchor) close enough but you always want a fabric type of loop connected to the anchor and the band inside of the loop. Less abrasion over time. I’m not knocking the anchor but I have bands over 5 years old and they are pressed HARD…and I always make sure the rubber is never attached to metal. ONLY looped fabric. TRUST me on this.
I use the standard tube bands right now cuz I got em free from a friend who never used em. I’m interested in trying the loop style, but the high price doesn’t really seem worth it to me. I’d be interested to see a review of some of the cheaper loops that can be found on Amazon like Wenfeng. I wonder if they’re the same, but just not marked up as much, or if they’re actually a lower quality material

Gyms are a waste of time in general. Spend more time waiting for a machine and you lose momentum and waste time. And with Covid19, gyms are a cesspool for the spread of the virus. They filters in the gym they have don’t do jack to stop Covid19. I spend more time getting ready for the gym. I want to burn fat and lose 60lbs like now. I like this guy’s approach. Anywhere and anytime especially if you travel a lot and worry about finding a gym or you visit family and their slackers and don’t go to the gym or have equipment. You just take your bands with you. Grage and his wife deserve their money.

Thr problem is weve been conditioned to believe a certain way. Thats the way the strength and conditioning community work. First it carbs vs no carbs, high intensity vs low steady state, heavy weights vs higher volume diffrent body part splits, the window of opportunity myth with protein powder and finally the only way to supposably be stronger was with the big 3 lifts yet i realised over the years with all of the equipment that ive used including had the privilege to play collegiate sport ive learned its never that simple.

I like both loop style and the tube style they both have their advantages and disadvantages but together you can do a lot
Ive lifted in my youth over 600lb, done pull ups with over 120lb attached to me the same with dips had a 315 bench and let me tell you guys i once bought back in 2006 a set of jump flex power bands i was curious it was my first time dealing with powerful bands. Went down to do push ups got only 3 and struggled like a mother fuck it didnt make sense how in hell is a rubber band destroying me. Went to do some rows couldnt even do 1 and remember i wasnt no slouch i have a strong pull up it didnt make sense again. Now my legs i am able to lunge over 250 easy with one leg yet with the band i grunt like a bitch and get only one rep. So what the hell is going on. The same happened to me with other equipment such as heavy kegs, my 120lb kettlebell, i even had 3 80lb sandbags taped together in my backyard on the floor that i use to pick up and walk around with it. I even had a shopping cart that i used to fill up with 600lb of plates and walk up calamus hill ive used it all weighred vest that go up to 140lb, chains, had my dumbell and barbells in the back yard and guess what one type of strength does not transfer over to another theyre all diffrent and that was enjoyable for me. The same goes in sports in conditioning for example you might be able to last 6 rounds full intensity in the amateurs boxing but when i stepped to grapple with a friend of mine who at the time was a purple belt at the renzo gracie academy not one bit of my strength helped me nor did my boxing i became his bitch. Moral of the story dont be afraid to change things up you will realize that these are nothing but tools and one strength doesnt fully transfer to another and thats ok its all about having

Bands are great bought the schmitty bands that go up to 300lb. With free weights i bench 315 yet the bands kick my ass i can row my 160lb dumbbell yet i cant row my heaviest band also i can lunge 265 with one leg and have 30in leg yet with my black band i can only do one. So bands are easier? Guess not

Glad I found your channel, I just started with resistance bands(tube style) and was wondering about the other type. Lotsa great info!
Loop bands are superior to the other bands. Just use your brain and get CHEAP attachments. You mentioned the overhead shoulder press and how the loop bands might put too much pressure on your hands and the solution is to use some sort of bar. I use a sturdy broomstick that I got for free from the curb of someone who was throwing it away. Put the “bar” in between on end of the band and problem solved. Also, for the medium to lighter loop bands you can just buy different size carabiners and a cheap foam handles and bingo, now you have handles with loop bands.
One of the “Common” questions he gets is how do i keep door anchor sliding up and down the door, while the put the anchor on the side? wow, where is the resistance band for the brain?

I just can’t figure out how you would accurately track progress with bands, since there are so many variables involved for increasing resistance. One of the most important things for me is being able to track progress, track weight and be sure to be pushing myself all the time.
Howdy guy’s do you think that one of the reasons that Bob’s black band snapped could have been the wall anchor,because I have a full set of those bands and they came with a nylon door anchor and since yours are made of plastic,could have been the friction,would be worth asking the Bodylastics manufacturers,maybe? But I do agree they are great bands

I found they are very useful and versatile for substitute free weights are amazing the things you can do wit it and whit constant resistance God bless you all.
Very well presented and very informative. I was engaged right to the very end and I was really drawn in. I have often doubted resistance bands as an effective way to strengthen muscles. Now I’m a committed fan. Thanks very much for your effort and the video.

Excellent video even though I’m a long time bands user, I’ve gotten a few new exercises from it!
I’d like to mention one very important exercise that you’ve left out: The face pull.
Also: I got myself a cheap ab wheel with long handle supremely useful for pull down and push down exercises, just loop the band round the middle between the twin wheels
Going beyond 90 degrees angle while doing lateral raises is pretty pointless, many would suggest
Bodylastic is great. These bands are not even that much more then some of the other bands that are out there. I just need to use them more regular.
