Choosing an Exercise Ball. Before you buy a ball, make sure it’s the right size for your height. To test it, sit on the ball and make sure your hips are level or just slightly higher than the knees: 55 cm: 4’11” 5’4″. 65 cm: 5’5″ 5’11”. 75 cm: 6’0″ 6′ 7″.
Because personal consultations are not always possible, physical therapists, exercise trainers, and other professionals have constructed several guidelines to use when selecting the proper exercise ball size. When sitting upright on an exercise ball: Feet should be flat on the floor with an even weight distribution. You can also check the fit of an exercise ball manually by sitting on one. Simply choose an exercise ball, sit on it with your feet hip-width apart and sitting up straight.
Your knees should be slightly below your hips in this position. If your knees are higher then you need a bigger ball. If your knees are well below your hips you need a smaller ball. Depending on how you plan to use the exercise size ball will also.

Because you use the ball with so many different body positions while you’re exercising, the size of the ball you use really does make a difference and can make or break your workout. You can find an exercise ball at Walmart, Amazon, and Target to purchase. But regardless of where you buy yours, it’s essential you buy the best exercise ball.
When purchasing your exercise ball, it’s important to make your selection based on size, firmness, and durability. Getting all these aspects right help you get a ball that’s perfectly fit for your needs and goals. Using an exercise ball can be a challenging way to add variety and fun to your workout. Exercise balls also known as physioballs, Swiss balls, or fit balls are large, vinyl balls you can use.Choosing a ball that’s too big or too small can make the exercises either too difficult or too easy (or in some cases, not possible at all).
Generally, every brand of stability ball will have height and ball size suggestions on their website or directly on the equipment packaging. To determine if you are using the correct size birthing ball, try this: Sit squarely on your birth ball, and place your feet flat on the floor in front of you. Your hips should be either exactly even with your knees, or a little higherapproximately 5-8 centimeters higher, according to experts. It’s common practice to use a height guide to choose the right size ball.
While this is OK as a general guide this doesn’t work for all women for all core exercises. The size of the exercise ball is usually printed on the ball in centimetres. Most exercise balls have the ball size printed on them, usually 45 cm, 55 cm, 65 cm and 75 cm.Exercise balls are an inexpensive addition to your home gym. For less than $10, you can find a small exercise ball of 45 to 55 cm with a foot pump.
At this price, there will likely be no stand or extra gear included. Larger exercise balls with anti-burst technology start to show up in the $10 to $35 range.Using the Exercise Ball Correctly 1 Select the correct size for your height.
