Yoga Sculpt: Yoga For Arms & Upper Body | No Weights Needed for this Arm Workout for Women

You will simply remove some of the fat that covers up your muscle. Training: Finally, those big bulky muscles you see are not achieved without spending many, many hours in the gym lifting very heavy weights. Lifting weights for 30 to 45 minutes, 2 to 3 times a week will not make you bulk up.The American College of Sports Medicine recommends at least two resistance training workouts per week on non-consecutive days using free weights, machines, resistance bands or body weight.
Each workout should have eight to 10 exercises working each muscle group. Work in the eightto 12-repetition range to build muscle. Step 2.Stand with your feet together. Bend knees, reaching hips back (knees behind toes), lowering until thighs are nearly parallel with floor; raise arms.
This toning workout is all about using body weight and light dumbbells to help your muscles grow. You’ll be doing moves to target your entire body, including abs, arms, shoulders, and thighs. Workout to Get Toned & Firm Without Bulking Up.
This is a common misconception and simply not true. If you want big change you must use big weights and push yourself to muscle fatigue and or failure. Ladies—you will not bulk up!
Heavy weights are required for sculpting sexy, defined muscles. Secondly, you must use good form. Working the upper back and can be tricky.Optimal training for strength is completely different from the workout necessary for bulking up. Body sculpting requires an exercise routine designed specifically for the individual.
Briefly, the principles for strength are: Do thorough warm-up and light warm-up sets often, with 12 repetitions for each exercise.Strength training: Concentrate on lightweights and higher repetitions on the upper body and moderate to heavy weight and moderate repetitions (12-15) on the lower body. Choose compound movements for both upper and lower body as well as isolations.Squat Pulses (without kettlebell) How to do it: Stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Start the movement by bending your knees and sitting back with your hips.
Go down as far as you can and.Each workout should last no longer than an hour, including your warm-up and eight to 10 minutes of core work. Perform the workout twice a week.
To prepare for a bodybuilding competition, competitors achieve extremely low levels of body fat, with men and women typically reaching body fat.Boxing – Amazing for toning up your arms without increasing their size, and also a great cardio workout Swimming – Also great for toning up your arms. I know professional swimmers have very broad shoulders, but they train ridiculously hard (i.e. 6 hours per day) and this is why they look like this.Lift heavy.
Lifting heavy (greater than 90% of your one-rep max 1RM) will improve strength by recruiting what are called high-threshold motor units. The muscle fibers associated with these motor.By training all your upper-body muscles with aerobic intervals and resting for only 10 seconds between exercise stations, you tone up without focusing on your chest muscles so you can keep the size and shape of your breasts. Complete only two exercises per muscle group and three sets of 15 to 20 repetitions per exercise.
Step 2.In this workout you’ll do push-ups, planks, dips, and even some animal-inspired moves like ‘tricep bear crawl’ to seriously sculpt your upper body and core. Complete 15 repetitions per exercise x 2 sets. All 10 exercises can be done using just your bodyweight, so you can do this workout anywhere.
If you’ve been slacking on your fitness, one of the quickest ways to start toning up is by incorporating strength training into your routine. It’s an important part of a well-rounded workout.

I clicked on this as I have currently been doing your home workouts as they’re the only non-weifght lifting excercises I actually enjoy. I spoke to my dad about how much I loved lifting weights then he started commenting on how I should instead run or do other forms of cardio so I don’t look bulky.That really got me down. So great! Although I need to make sure I have more room when going from down dog to raising one leg and stacking the hips. I managed to kick a mug of water and paintbrushes off my desk spilling water everywhere. Cleaned up and continued with the practice though haha.
Haha the part about having a pancake bum I felt that so hard! I have been weight training 4-5 times a week for 2 years now and I’ve finally grown a butt also I never thought I’d be able to eat this much food and not gain a tonne of weight ♂️️♂️
Wow, I have done this practice a few times before and it was so hard I could not get all the way down for the pushups. I was actually able to complete and execute the entire series of pushups this time. I feel myself getting stronger. My arms are still shaking right now even after the meditation. one comment i’d like to make to all the people out there (cuz not all guys wanna get big) is that getting your arms bigger is almost something you have to actively aim for. because if you are in a calorie deficit your body will be hard pressed to put on muscle, unless you’re wildly out of shape/overweight (like i was). when i started losing weight and lifting weights i noticed my arms getting stronger in terms of what weight i could lift, but my arms were getting smaller. it’s because the body fat around my arms was going away and muscle takes up less space than fat.
similarly when my gf was complaining about a flabby spot on her arms i told her to start lifting weights with me a couple of days a week. she worried she was going to get big arms and i explained to her that at her weight (120 lbs) getting big wasn’t going to happen as long as she maintained weight. sure enough the flab got a little firmer and she started liking her arms a lot more. body re-composition for the win.

Lose weight and do static exercises with light weights (like holding 2 lbs weights with arms out, palms facing the ceiling for 1 minute) My arms skimmed out and had the
tiniestbit of definition which worked for me!I am on vacation. Ocean front but without a free gym. This is horrible advice. You didn’t explain anything all you did was rant. You didn’t give any tips about how to work out or any tips about nutrition. You need to go and watch other videos that give much better advice than you do. They break things down and explain how to workout and how to eat. I would never subscribe to your Channel all your videos suck!!!

So what is new with women trying to look smaller in every way possible be it with weight loss or exercise…it makes me really worried especially when I see an example of someone like this who was already fit and went for leaner. Ok, your preference, good. But generally this is just making me sad. Men have the privilege of gaining mass and being praised of it. We are still stuck on women with hourglass figures and other than breasts and hips, thinness all around. If you’re wondering, I’m probably a size more than the woman in video and actually have hourglass shape but this is making me depressed. Too many women with eating disorders and body image issues for me to be enthusiastic about this.

I am one of few in my family that has an over active metabolism and when I first started going to the gym they’d judge me so much and say I dont need it because I’m small. I would try to explain “skinny fat” to them and they just couldn’t understand.

I’m in chronic pain all the time & I’m not able 2 workout life I used 2. Walking is even a challenge. I used 2 b an aerobic instructor body builder weight trainer & much more. If it wasn’t 4 your yoga training I’d b more depressed. I’ve gained 20lbs & not happy about it. I’ll keep doing your yoga everyday. I’m more than grateful 2 have u in my home helping me. Tbh, for my personal preference, my goals are your before. Your after looks amazing, no doubt! It really suits you and lets your waist taper in.
I have a pretty large head (its very wide bc my jaw and cheekbones are wide) and I love bulkier arms and shoulders, since then my head won’t look too wide anymore (perspective) and my waist would actually be better pronounced since I have a square shaped body. (I am a literal square, I have no waist definition…) and obviously working on the hips and booty will help create that hourglass shape.

You should definitely do a video series for women. There are a lot of slim women who are afraid to eat. You on the other hand can eat like a fat girl but maintain the body of a model. These ladies need to know how you do it.

I have always been an all or nothing type of gal when it comes to my diet, I always get down on myself for having a “cheat meal.” This is something I definitely want to work on this year I want a more balanced and relaxed diet where I’m not constantly thinking about food. I’ve also been doing your workout split (2 leg days, 2 push days, 2 pull days, strength training at the beginning of the week and hypertrophy training at the end of the week) and I am loving it! It works so well for me and I think it fits by goals best

WOW I hate doing arms and this was a killer….my arms feel like jello and my forearms are feeling it too…….I didn’t even know forearms could get in on the workouts….LOL
Tried this with my 3kg weights and it was hard! Had to drop to 2kg for the last couple of exercises. I definitely don’t need another set! I was going to follow up with Upper Body Burn but I’ll save that for another day.

for me actually the opposite is the case… it’s super easy for me to gain muscle (aspecially on my shoulders, legs and booty) but hard to cut down my bodyfat:D but still I am not “Bulky”

This one was really good as well, Love how the intenseness is kinda short (yet very effective, I’ve noticed), so there can be more good feeling stretches and even include meditation within those 20-30minutes.. Time very well spent:)
I am very overweight and just starting a vegan lifestyle. I have given birth to 3 very big boys ( from 4,5 4,9 kg at birth and 55 and 56 cm long!!!) My stomach looks really awful. I probably have to operate to fix my stomach, but I really would like some advice to how to build muscle all over first. Is there hope for me. I am 52 years, single (devorced for 14 years), but really don’t want to be single for the rest of my life. It is lonely. Love and light from Norway

Such a great burn! But really it was the stretching and meditation that centered me tonight. I just went through a break up this week and I’ve been doing yoga every day since. This practice really helped. I thought of how I want to show up to my first weekend single. It’s very easy for me to get stuck in valleys, but this season, I really want to choose joy. My partner was a rock for years, so now I want to work to fine tune my independence. This series couldn’t have come at a better time to help me on that journey. I’m not sure if I posted this question anywhere else but I have a huge problem with working out my shoulders with weights to build muscle and they end up tinier, I do work out the rest of my arm but I feel like theyrr becoming huge in comparison, so my shoulders looks skinny and leading down to the bicep and all it looks fat and everything looks uneven. How do I try and balance things? Do I do less shoulder workouts and more bicep/tricep workouts? It just feels like muscle accumulated and made it look bulky and fat instead

Also LOL at potatoes. I live in New Zealand so our summer growing season is short and winter is mild. We grow beans, broccoli and kale really well but nothing tropical. I would only eat a fully raw meal about 3 times a year when it’s 30 celsius in summer.

I don’t know if anyone will see this but I have severe anxiety to the point where I get panic attacks daily and think I’m dying. With that being said I hate coffee because I feel like I’m going to have a heart attack and my mind is racing. Medically I’ve been checked and cleared. If prolific a good pre-workout for people with anxiety? Should I give it a try? Is it dangerous?

Her arms have muscle and definition but don’t look bulky. I think part of this contributes to the fact that she is lucky enough to be well endowed when it comes to her chest. Her chest balances out her arms and still makes her look feminine but for someone like me who is small breasted, arms like hers could look too masculine and bulky. For small chested girls, the really lean and long arm look looks better, in my opinion

Hi Abby. How did you change your chest or upper body workout in general after breast augmentation? Doctors, as well as other trainers, discourage any sort of upper pec workout post augmentation. Not only during recovery, but as a general rule to avoid future complications. Especially for submuscular implants. Suggestions?

I can lift 80 kg squat and deadlift, 40 in benchpress (for a few years) and my arms still look like baby groot arms, most likely I wont need to worry. But tbh all my body is really lean, I have hard gaining weight of any kind.
You are my Fav ‘fitspo’ for a lot of reasons like daaaamn, there’s a lot of people out there giving a wrong example of what been healthy really means. Keep it that way, I love your message. ❤️
Sometimes I feel like my arms have a peanut shape and are a little smaller at the top than middle to by my elbow
Thank God, I had different size weights, 10lbs would have done me in on some of those arm exercises…. 10lbs seemed like I has holding up a house, too much. 5lbs much better to work with on the lateral raises, 10lbs for presses was doable. Thanks for the sweat sesh, Heather, who would have known that weights get you a real sweat sesh just like cardio.

I think the other important thing to remember for those women 30 yo and older: After 30, we start to lose muscle mass! So weight training is necessary just to maintain muscle as we age!!!

Love your videos! I totally agree with you, I am weight training for nearly two years now and my legs and arms are definetely leaner than before. But last year I put on some fat due to inconsistency because of my new relationship, so I put on some fat again but I am getting back on track now! I am also working on talking to myself more kindly and being more relaxed with my body. See were it will lead me! ❤️
Hi Stephanie! Have you considered including a pelvic floor muscle health segment into this new series? I’m a pelvic health physiotherapist from Toronto Canada and I think it’d fit in beautifully into your series.
* just bc the pelvic floor is a hidden muscle group in our bodies, it is often a forgotten muscle BUT that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be trained*
I mostly treat women post-partum to treat pelvic floor disorders: incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse (low grades), rectus diastasis, dyspareunia, pelvic floor weakness…
But there is also a population of young elite female athletes (cross-fit/gymnast) that seek pelvic health physiotherapy because the rest of their core is sooooo overdeveloped in comparison to their pelvic floor and so when they go to do a heavy squat or jump (or essentially have a very large increase in intra-abdominal pressure), they will have a bit of urinary leakage. This often stops them from wanting to progress their weights in lifting or progress in their sport, fearful they will leak and be embarrassed or have an odor.
I think it’d be fantastic if we could maybe chat about doing a pelvic floor segment. I’m fairly new to the field but I have resources to link you up with the founding leaders of the field and I’d be so happy if we could together bring awareness to this topic!

my arms are really muscular, but they just look big and bulky cause they have quite a bit of fat on them. But my tummy is pretty lean so it’s hard cause I dont wanna lose too much fat because then I don’t have enough tummy fat to keep a period:/

Just as a small note for next time i would appreciate if you didn’t use terms like upper ‘beach body'(as you have in the thumbnail), as i think it reinforces the mindset that there needs to be a ‘certain’ type of body that is worthy of the beach. I think everyone should be able to enjoy in a bikini on the beach comfortable and confident in their body regardless of its size. I don’t mean any offence, it was just something i thought i would point out. I hope you understand.

This is an awesome workout for somebody trying to move to heavier weights. It’s short enough to get through the first time. This happened to meI am bigger boned and when I started lifting a couple times a week I definitely felt bulky I looked even thicker and things were tighter on me. You have a small ideal body type that builds lean muscle but this is not the case with everyone. I was by no means a body builder but looked like one

Stef, I’ve followed you since the very beginning and have absolutely loved your videos but you really need to be careful what you say:( the big boned thing people do have different bodies, like for example my mum has wider hips than me and there’s no way on earth that she would ever fit into my jeans. I’m sorry to comment as I know it’s just my opinion but I think you do need to realise when you are body shaming and when you’re not and just talking about being “healthy” because being healthy doesn’t always mean changing yourself, it means loving yourself at whatever stage you’re at. I’m sorry if you block me after this but as someone who has been on a hell of a journey with self love and has seen plenty of other women go through hell and back too with it, I think even if your words wouldn’t offend you if you heard them, you (as an influencer) need to realise that they might be taken the wrong way by someone else. I do have a question though, in the past i have weight lifted for 3-4 months at a time (and then switch to a different kind of work out) and have always found that i do look “bulkier”. I’m shaped like an upside down triangle. Should I just not train arms so they get smaller. I’m top heavy and small on the bottom. I lose fat in my hips first while my top stays big. Any answer is welcome. Thank you
I view cardio as Heart Day. You see all these big bodybuilders doing leg days, chest days, back days, etc. But they walk around huffing and puffing, they’re forgetting to also train their heart!

Question: I am new to the youtube audience and when she talks about there being a full upper body “tenplate” below, where is that? I scold down and I only see other recomendations
I paused the video before watching it just to write this comment to Stephanie; I wanna thank you for making these workout videos/ meal videos as it really helps me figure out different workouts to do in the gym. I am currently 5’1 and 175 pounds; the heaviest I’ve been. I got really bad stomach acid and heart burn and my chest began to hurt a lot. I started going to the gym 3 days ago. The bloating has lessened and I’ve been focusing on eating well. It makes me happy to see you so enthusiastic about health and fitness and it encourages me to push through and lose the weight. The weight made me really depressed and sad but just from these couple of days and using some of your workout routines and meal ideas has helped me feel motivated.
I’ll keep pushing through. Six months later or maybe even earlier; I want to be able to leave a comment telling you my accomplishment in my health and fitness.

Hi Stephanie, I have a stupid question. I am qoing to the gym 2x week (i am skating 4x week so i can only go 2 times) and i am doing glute excersies, but i want also start doing some upper body workout. Can I do half of excercises from this video after glutes one day and the other half another day after glutes? Or its better be done all in one sitting?

YAY! Jessica workout completed although I did have to drop down to 3 but I definitely felt the burn also completed 20 minute waistline workout earlier so Thank you jessica!
Great recommendations here! I workout in a small gym in my office building that is a bit limited. We have dumbbells abd benches but no barbells or cable machines. Do you have recommendations for ways to work in those pulling exercises like lat pull-downs without that equipment? Truly appreciate any ideas you may have!
Can you possibly do a vid on upper body (arms and back) exercises with only hand weights?

That last comment about body frame made you come across very arrogant, particularly as someone who has never had a weight issue. I do not have a weight issue, but sympathise with those who do. I would choice your words more carefully, as that may upset some people who may be struggling with weight and body image.
Another great and efficient morning practice! My shoulders are not quite on my side, so I had to modify a couple of the binding poses. Fun to learn completely new ways of strengthening and toning of the arms. Thank you so much for these work out videos, they are all really wonderful!
I really like this one as the moves are not difficult yet still can be really challenging depending on your weight choices. Be forewarned thoughthe cool down is almost non-existent, so unless you’re moving on to another workout, be prepared to spend a few minutes really stretching those muscles out properly after putting them through the wringer.

as someone who did fitness and aerobic and hiit training for 2 years and lost 20 KG, i started lifting weights without considering any changes, i was eating healthier doing more workout and exercises and cardio but 2 years after i noticed that i got bulky drastically. my tights my shoulders my back were full of muscles. my booty has grown a lot but i gained 15 kG by far. so at first i was happy that these are muscle but wen i looked back to my previous pictures i realized i liked my body shape more that time. now a days i have problem with anything and also i couldn’t reduce my body fat percentage to 15 percent or lower everybody sees me as someone fat not muscular! because thick layers of fat are surrounding my muscles as someone who gains back weight easily that was not a good option for me. i thing weight training is great for those who are starting with low % of body fat and want to look curvy and.. for those who have a lot of weight to lose or can gain back those weight easily its not a good option. hope this helped you

When i first starting in the gym id spend half my time doing cardio and then some light-weight weight training because i was scared of the weights section, it was full of big blokes! Nothing was happening to my body shape, so i changed my routine. Now I barely touch cardio, full on weight training with the blokes and i LOVE it. I’ve noticed such a difference in my legs/glutes and my arms are getting there! All the girls out there that are scared of the weights section dont be! No one is going to judge you or be looking at you we’re all focused on our own thing if anything I now have more fun social interaction in the gym!
Great practice again! My arms feel tired and strong at the same time! I love how we got to stretch the rest of the body as well so the practice feels very complete and my body and mind nicely balanced! Thanks again, Brett!
I just wanted to say, I tried a slightly modified version of this since I workout at home with dumbbells. It was killer!!!! Loved it and looking forward to the new series.
I’m SUPERR interested in the determining maintenance calories, or even one for determining calories for weight loss….maybe throw something in there if you’re vegan…i became vegan a few weeks ago, and i’m having trouble trying to determine if i should be counting carbs from whole foods-namely vegetables, because i’m tempted to not count them, butttt i am mostly whole foods.
I have being lifting for 5 years, and I am very strong, lean, but I am still underweight… I have trouble putting on muscle but I have gain 5 kg in the process =] so it is something. I started with stronglift, and now I do a mix of both, like you, and I do like it so much more.
you and jeff need to get on podcasts! you guys are so knowledgeable and i would benefit so much with podcast versions of your content. i listen to them on my way to work, before workouts when I’m doing cardio, and when I’m cleaning or doing random things. just a possible venture for the future….

Really great arm workout. I am still working on the chaturanga pushup. I can do the half way down version but when I get all the way down I don’t have the strength to push back up It is quite a challenge but I will keep working on it. Thank you I am feeling the burn in my abs from yesterday’s ab sculpt practice. Love this series the 2nd time for me. Namaste!
so with this excercises do you get rid of bulky arms I didn’t really get that part cause I’m trying to get rid of my bulky arms I hate them

It is almost impossible for women to get bulky, women you WANT well defined, muscular arms/shoulders it looks beautiful. You would have to like take steroids and put in ridiculous amounts of work to look bulky like a man.
Super, really hard for me, but good because I dont get to use my arms so much at work. Loved the little meditation at the end, pictured myself being calm and friendly, and spreading little hearts wherever I went. Thank you, Brett. This series is soooo useful, I will cycle through it every week. (I hope)
sorry, i’m confused. i’ve been trying to research how to best lean/tone out my arms, and i understand you need to lose fat to be able to see the muscle. i also have learned that you can’t spot reduce fat, so doing all of these excercises, is it not burning fat off of your arms? if i only do these kind of excercises, will it just build the muscle up under the fat but i won’t see it? and i’ll need to do cardio to burn off fat off my entire body to be able to see the work i did on my arms?
