I truly do not understand how there could be so many dislikes for this video. This is a right to the point lecture that is probably one of the best talks I have heard in a very long time. Sarah makes so much sense and she said it all in a concise and precise presentation. Incentives of money, vacations, even cars are offered to doctors by the drug companies to prescribe their products. Instead of counseling patients, like Sarah does in her practice, to eat a healthy and nutritional way to manage their weight and diabetes, they suggest weight loss surgery or prescribe a pill to fix the problem. The new doctors being cranked out of med school seem to be in it for how much money they can acquire (can’t blame them for wanting to earn a good living) and not for the noble profession of trying to help their fellow man. The doctors give patients, on the average, seven minutes per doctor visit and well before the end of the consultation, the prescription pad/computer is pulled out and the doctor is stating he wants you to start Metformin, etc. This is so frustrating for the patient who wants a doctor and not a pill dispenser. Grrrrrrrrrr

What this woman is talking about is a very temporary solution that will back fire long term. Please, if you have diabetes check out “Mastering Diabetes” by Cyrus Khambatta and Robby Barbaro.
They can’t make money off of you if you get cured. Their job is to treat you and if they can’t treat you then they are out of a job.
She’s another quack telling us we are victims of our hormones. Ingesting significant carbohydrates is essential to maintain energy. Without this energy rigorous exercise becomes almost impossible. The quack forgets entirely about the critical role exercise plays in defeating obesity-and this IS a matter of self-discipline and not hormones. The lazy obese person looks for a way out of exercise-hence the popularity of the Keto Diet (low-zero carbs) promising weight loss without any exercise (just another fake cure-all for lazy obese people). I’m 78 years old, 6 ft. 3 in. tall, weight 163 lbs and still lean-muscled. I eat plenty of carbs, need no doctors or prescription drugs. For the last 65 years I have rigorously and regularly performed body-weight/aerobic exercise routines at home. I ride a bicycle almost everywhere I go. It’s all a matter of personal discipline, People should want to exercise. Humans were built to be active and not sit back on a couch watching television or stupidly wasting their time on unnecessary phone calls on their SmartPhones.
I’m another walking example of the veracity of her claims. Down 80 lbs (hoping to ditch 60 more), no meds, and fasting blood sugar is generally in the 70-90 range.
You can start by burning those hideous blue slacks, they detract from the presentation and flatter no one. She appears to exemplify what a compassionate, educated, morally sound doctor is supposed to be but for her attire.

I am diabetic for 10 years, on metformin and insulin, I have active throughout my life ️, cycling, long distance running, I struggled with weight and my glucose were hardly ever controlled, HFLC meal plans, and not eating processed junk. In Jan 2020, I became vegan after lots of research, in 1 week, I stated experiencing hypoglycemia, hence I had to cut insulin dosage, my weight was 85kgs, in 8 weeks I was 74 kgs, off insulin, metformin dosage down 50%. Latest HBA1C is 6.2. This all whilst eating a whole food plant based diet, my recovery rate from exercise is phenomenal running 90-110km per week. My point is animal fats will kill you. She advocates cutting all veggies and fruits, seeds, legumes without actually saying it. All foods very in fibre, which flushes out all toxins from the body. This is crazy advice. People who follow a omnivorous diet versus plant based are u healthier than the latter, do the research. Their BMI is on avg 4-5 points above a vegetarian and 5-7 higher than that of vegans. The biggest challenge is self discipline. The rewards are unbelievable
I stopped counting calories because chasing a number made me eat portions where I still had a third of it left after I felt full… I’ve had entire meals when I wasn’t hungry. I’m probably eating half of my daily suggested calories by not trying to reach a daily goal and only eating when I’m hungry. Is it sub-optimal if that goal is your alleged calculated minimum to maintain muscle mass during weight loss? Allegedly, yes. In actuality, I’m notably improving in the gym from one week to the next under PT supervision, yesterday was the first time I could do all my dumbbell compound exercises to failure with 20 pounds (hell, it was the first time I made any compound exercises at all, because previously I worked on my form), never going below 10 reps with good form. Not bad for someone who’s only been in the gym for 6 weeks… needless to say this field of science has lost all credibility to me!

Insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes are the results of a sedentary lifestyle first, bad diet choices later. With optimal physical activity (our bodies are made to be in constant movement) you are VERY insulin sensitive even if you eat tons of carbs.
No carbs? Once I tested: I had a pure protein breakfast and went out to do heavy gardenwork (digging and shoveling). After one hour, I was drained. Next day, I did the same after having had a good handful of boiled whole grain pasta. I did 3 hours of digging got a bit tired ate an apple and went on digging for another hour. We need carbs to function.

Funny, I started my resolutions like a month or so before new year. Not even considering the “new year resolution” trend still pulling through though, even tightened some of them
I still dont get the cause for insulin resistance. avoiding carbs when insulin resistant seems kinda logic, but how do i get this resistance? are people really healed from diabetes when eating low carb or are they just avoiding the symptom by keeping blood sugar low? hows the blood sugar level after a low carb diet when you start to eat carbs again?
A reminder to myself
Day 1: 2:55 Chest, shoulders and triceps.
Start with your chest. Bench and inclined bench. Also do flies and crossovers. Now do shoulders. Do overhead press, lateral raises, and reverse flies. Finally, triceps. Do skull crushers, tricep extensions, and kickbacks.
Every exercise should be three sets of eight to twelve repetitions.
Day 2: 4:42 Back and Biceps. Start with the back. Do lat pull downs and pull overs. Your bicep should be warmed up, simply do curl ups with supination.
Again, 3 sets of eight to to twelve reps should do the trick.
Day 3: 5:51 Legs.
Do squats, deadlifts, and lunges.
Remember to sleep at least 7 hours every night.
Day 4: Free active day, simply do cardio and abs.

Good talk but FYI from personal experience be careful of over-reliance on coconut oil and other MCT (Medium Chain Triglyceride) foods like palm oil and dairy. Keep your fatty acid chain lengths a heterogenous mix. MCT doses add up and in my experience the following paper on mice explains a real world consequence of overdoing MCTs which applied to me, though I do have immune hypersensitivity problems.

i hit the gym 5-7 times a week. discipline and consistency are on point and I dont need to cheat or sht. The way I handle intensity is by lowering my weights if I cant hit em often enough or dont have a good mind muscle connection at that high weight at that day. doing this lets me stay in flow because I also lower the time between sets. so basically, the weaker I feel comming in, the faster I work out with lower weights and after 30 mins it turns and I hit new PRs ^^ (190kg DL for example @75kg)
Same goes for work: I hit easy tasks for 1-2 hours when I feel tired / out of creativity to accomplish something and then hit the big ones as im on my winning streak again. sometimes in business I gotta hit the big boys at 10am no matter what but I just try to not think and just act, that way I face a hard task, without thinking about it and getting it done.

If you have never committed to a work-out regiment (as an ADULT), and you are even MILDLY unhappy, depressed, anxious, sad, there is a VERY STRONG chance weight-lifting/yoga/resistance-bands can negate a LOT of that pain & suffering. You see, the human-body is/was INTENDED to be IMPROVED-UPON, and when you DON’T DO THIS, it will show-up somehow in your PSYCHE/subconscious.
I had to stop going to the gym because of Covid-19. And, before the lock-down, when I was still going to the gym, I was (typically) a happy dude.
Then, the lock-down happened…I was fine at first…Until about week 4-5.
Depression set in.
Loneliness and despair became all too familiar.

When fasting your body does not loose muscle mass. its because you’re body will keep useful tissue like muscle as a last resort so it would first burn only fat.
I use a modified version of 16:8. I fast for 16 hours have one big meal at the end and start fasting again for 16 hours, no need to wait out the rest of the 8 hour eating period as i dont eat any more meals. So basically have one meal every 16 hours… is that still considered intermittent fasting?

My story is: When i was a kid about 5-6 years old I had a bit anxiety or claustrophobic, I didn’t use to exercise, then from 6 to 12 years old I used to play soccer and run like 2-4 hours 5 days a week. My question Is, some people like me MUST exercise regularly in order to have a good mental health? Or maybe my brain developed to always stay in movement because I used to exercise a lot when I was 6-12 years old? And now my brain does not work properly without exercise? Maybe this must be my lifestyle. PD. English Is not my mother tongue, so sorry for any mistake.

Why not train fasted in the morning for the anabolic effect. Set your eating window after gym and during work. Don’t eat anything for the rest of the day. It would seem that would make you healthiest provided your sleep isn’t affected by the hunger.

I ate during the window, however I ate too much during the eating period. I did not eat fast food but what my wife cooked and I did not loose any weight. I had to switch to the OMAD diet and cut carbs and sugars.

When considering eating healthy, you have to never fall victim to modern fad diet plans. Extreme diets undoubtedly are a risk for your health, especially ones that seriously restrict your everyday nutritionary intake. Calories are for physics (not as much applicable to biology). His principal is wrong. It’s NOT the number of calories that go in your mouth, it’s the amount of sugar that goes into your blood. because of insulin response. 500 calories of salmon has an entirely different effect on the body than 500 calories of coke. The calorie deficit model of diet just keeps you eating the wrong food.

The biggest lie we’ve been told is that we need a doctor to interpret these studies for us. The education you need to read this research and understand it is out there and free online. A little bit of statistics, little bit of research methodology, and a good dictionary is all you really need for most of it. Understanding who did the work, and who paid for it is very important too. Universal fitness and nutritional advice doesn’t exist. Every person is different. Like really, not like a special snowflake, but their chemical processes are slightly different. You have to educate yourself on biology and adjust your own diet with trial and error. You need the fuel that works best for your machine.

I’ve stalled with intermittent fasting now, but I would still recommend. It’s more convenient than other alternatives, it really helped me get out of a plateau that I wasn’t losing with working out, and it helped me dig myself out of the hole I got into after an ankle injury, where I was sedentary for a month and a half, while being used to extremely high activity life before. It’s also well suited for people like me who struggle with portion control and bingeing. If you just can’t stop eating, you’ll do better on two meals a day (or one meal) than you’ll do on five.
Mind you, I’m almost there now. Biggest struggle is I can’t get out of the candy, but that’s a me problem.
I would love a video on how to calculate calories and macros for safe fat loss… a lot of conflicting info out there. Was hoping to find something on your channel since you show the receipts lol.

Then youll feel another boost im not sure from what but week three do 7 instead of three 28 per day 196 per week and double the week after your noon and night 42 per day 294 per week
Now double 7’s is 56 per day 392 per week
Soon youll be doing ten sets of 20 per day its 200 per day and 1400 per week

Although exercise is not compulsory in our lives, it boosts productivity of our efforts. It’s not clever not to utilize the effects of exercise. Going jogging for 30mins in the morning has become one of my habit since I read “Spark”. I could be able to concentrate on my work and retain it longer than before. Exercise expedites my brain to generate neurotransmitters which improve my mood. In conclusion, exercise can improve brain functions, improve moods and be useful for anti-aging. I cannot justify the person who don’t exercise.

I’d like to see what is found about some people who get worse from too vigorous of physical exercise. There are some. WHY do they get worse from, say, running the mile for PE [repeatedly; they never reach any level of tolerance for it, even doing this 3+ tames weekly]? Do those have difference in their bodies, which fails to adapt to doing more physical exercise? Or, is it the kind of exercise [say, digging ground using a shovel goes well, but running does not?]

I don’t think he realizes that if you aren’t sore, you aren’t training correctly. All lifting weights does is cause tiny tears in the muscles which hurts. When the body regrows that tissue, it grows back larger.
Very good points. Exercise is certainly great for the mind. I’m a huge believer in this. I’m a marathon runner and I know how great I feel after a long run.

I would argue this is very generalised don’t get me wrong, I agree… in context.
I am a rugby player and during season I need the ability to train daily and not be sore from gym or training, only matches.
However, if, during off-season, I need to go through a hypertrophy phase to put on muscle mass there are strong arguments to say that training at a metabolic state increases hypertrophy and this style of training will naturally have a byproduct of muscle soreness via myofibril tears. yes you can still create hypertrophy without soreness but it will be less efficient for that specific goal.
I agree with the concept of daily training with absence of soreness as a generalisation

I agree with everything, trust me it’s on point, except the soreness. Sore is a good sign. Injured is not, but I thought it was pretty well known that breaking muscles down (getting sore) is a primary concept of building muscle. I like the volume idea for certain things, but you absolutely need intensity for other areas.

So according to this guy I was training my abs everyday for the past 35 years, just by getting out of bed. No wonder my 6-pack has merged into a 1-pack.
That’s why its push, pull, then legs. You go hard, you may be sore the next day but not in the next category. Then by the time the cycle resets you’re not sore.

Joe Rogan! I did my first kettle bell swings today and I fucking love them! Although I don’t have a kettle bell I took a 60 pound bag of rocks and swung him I did three sets of eight. And the same 60 pound bag I did two sets no three sets of one hour military press for each shoulder then I did eight sets of eight curls with the 60 pound bag of rocksAnd then 10 sets of 10 push-ups and two bags of rock salt elevated like an incline press I’m sweating like a pig but I fucking I’m alive!
Adv level athletes and people who train can push their limits much easier without as lasting Someone starting out should probably be able to maintain about 60% of their max whatever it be and the other end of the scale who have also trained specificity for their exercises could be pushing 80-100% with better recovery time than the beginner & intermediate athletes/lifters. (Yes this is kinda broad since it applies to lifting and VO2 so I put them together but the idea stands)

This is how I’ve always worked out and advised family members to do the same, when they’ve asked. Here I thought I was just crazy but it’s nice to have this level of validation after so many years of being “lazy”.

Being sore is a good thing. You need to damage muscle to regrow it bigger and stronger. EVERYONE knows this. Except him apparently and that is why he’s so skinny too.
His vocabulary and way of expressing is a bit difficult to be clear. At time he talks like he was planning on motivating beginners to workout, at times it sounds like he’s trying to poorly explain hypertrophy training with some mistakes/misunderstandings and at times it feels like he mixes up athlete’s strength and skill training. I feel like PhD in sports physiology Mike Israetel and Master in physical therapy and sports strength coach Jeff Cavaliere explain these things a bit more understandably and unambiguously (both have their own channels on youtube). It took quite a while to figure out what Zahabi was really trying to say.
Say a beginner doesn’t need to push to their max for great muscle growth, they can get by with fairly halfway intensity. However a beginner can also think 70% is their full capacity, say in reps to failure. Also daily training for core has been shown to give the best benefits, that’s true as well, not all muscles are equal.
But I think there was some misunderstanding in muscle soreness from eccentric damage versus intensive training. Eccentric damage is not the only way to grow muscle (actually not even sufficient method to keep progressing forever, only one of the three), but is the only one creating soreness. He does still have some worthwhile message. Just that people might get the idea from this that just showing up at the gym for a bit was efficient training and created progress, whereas you still need to challenge your muscles to force them to adapt and change. You need to create stimulus for growth and with too high volume, low intensity, no recovery time it can get heavy on the supportive structures of the body and the training sessions could take unnecessarily long, yet lack proper stimulus for optimal or good growth, or any for “advanced”.
Good talk, a bit confusing, but in the end the idea comes through. Just that don’t go overboard with volume, it can cause harm.
So I still have to eat healthy? That sucks! lol. What if I don’t eat for 24 hours but then next day I can eat like a pig say a pizza or a burger with fries. Could I do that? I just don’t have control of my meals as I don’t make them myself.
This appears brilliant and I’m not saying it isn’t, but it presumes that volume is the goal or at least the most important part of the equation. Is this actually true? Any studies confirming this? I hope it is the case but sounding cool doesn’t make a statement true.
What an awesome talk!! Thank you. Big pharma and the food industry is the problem. Blocking useful info and feeding people $$$meds and poisonous foods like sugar (highly addictive). The cheapest food is the worst for you, wheat products, sugar, cheep vegetable oils. Even some nuts like cashews give you too many carbs, it’s good to check. Two months into no carbs and I have no hunger what so ever. I went cold turkey, feeling so guilty about daily woofing a chocolate bar in one sitting, that’s what helped me, but perhaps some people need to slowly lower their carb intake. What really helped me was combining all this with intermittent fasting. I started with 20-4, but found 18-6 to be more suitable and much easier. On days of hot yoga I completely skip dinner. I found OMAD to make me feel much better. Also love my bulletproof coffee tasting much better with heavy cream as well as butter and MCT. After I started using MCT in my coffee, I completely stop feeling any bits of hunger. All doctors should be as passionate as this one, caring about their patients rather than the commission they get from the pharmaceutical companies for prescribing drugs.

You can’t do every day your highest PR but once a month you have to per exercise.
I am sore sometimes but it’s because of hard pounding my body, my muscles. While they are sore, I train others muscles.
If my entire body is sore, which happened sometimes due to a basic day of ”press only” I do cardio and drink either alcohol (wine/ whisky/ vodka) or sodas (citrus soda or lemon sodas). As for food, I eat lots of vegetables, green and red meat.
That’s how I done it and I still do it for like 1 years on a high caloric diet, from 3 plates on a side to 4 plates and next month I try 5 plates on a side.
What he said about the 10-25 pull-ups, that is the most nonsense I’ve ever heard in my life, when it comes to bodybuilding.
I don’t agree with this…you’re only sore when your getting into shape. The soreness goes away once you’re IN shape and then you can push yourself every single day and be okay the next

I get what he’s saying but if you’re working out to get bigger across your whole body, you should push to the max every workout you do because for example you don’t workout Arms every day, you do arms then legs then core then back, cardio whatever; but the point is that you do a different body part every day so that you can push max on the 1 in 3-4 days you train arms for example, but you’re not hurting in the spot that you need to train legs the next day, then cardio the next, by the time you’ve come back round to doing arms again you’re refreshed in that part of your body
