they are also great with a poached egg on top, if you are doing brunch.
Why wouldn’t you just use a smaller spoon instead of the spatula what that barely fits in there
When grandma teaches you cooking herself, you know this’s gonna taste real good.
Yummm! When I was growing up we quite often had salmon patties for breakfast. Naturally being a kid I had to cover them with golden eagle syrup. Hummm…I’m an adult now, but now that I think about it I still cover them with syrup. LOL! Like you say Chef John/ picking out the bones is the worst part.
AlrightLinda,! This puts the salmon patties waaay! over the top!!
Yes, and good luck with that other “thing”…maybe eat some oysters… 😉
Oh this looks and sounds like a wonderful sauce. Yum. I’d add sriracha in it lol
She didn’t tell you…you have to pick the bones out of the salmon…not fun
Love the mashed potato idea and the cauliflower! So glad you enjoyed them, I will check out your channel!
Yay this is the one!!!! Grandma Margaret used to make!!! Thank you so much. I couldn’t remember it but knew it used eggs not mayo
I plan on making these this week….hopefully they’ll turn out as good as yours. Am not going to add as much honey to the sauce, though (gotta watch the sugar intake).
I cooked this today according to recipe and instructions. I can’t believe that something which tastes so nasty straight out of the can actually tasted good as an ingredient.
I will adjust it to taste in the future, but I am satisfied with the basic recipe. Keep up the good work CP.
BTW, my can of salmon, (Honey Boy brand), had a lot of fish spine and skin in it. I removed it all; others should probably do so as well. I left the small bones in the cooked patties, and I didn’t notice when eating
KETO AGAIN. YOU ARE MAKING A LOT OF FOLKS HAPPY TODAY INCLUDING ME. THANK YOU AGAIN.
I’ve never tried it like that. I guess it’s from the restaurant days…. fear of massive lawsuit syndrome! Hey Chef there is some rish lawyer on table 6 choking on a salmon bone… ; )
No… it’s AIOLI… don’t believe me? TRY GOOGLE SMARTA**! 😉
You’re missing one major ingredient that will make that taste amazing
I have always made mine like that. I serve it with ketchup.
It’s good, aside from the high amount of sodium they put in.
You’re my favourite for recipes John, but this is the oldest one of yours I’ve watched and you’ve changed your speaking style slightly. You’re even more entertaining and funny now. Thanks.
yes, it will work with crab, tuna, any fish really. I dont do nutritional breakdowns, but there are humdreds of sites that do. Do a google search and you’ll find some calculators that you can enter the ingredient amounts and it gives you the calories and sodium etc. Check the diet sites.
Thanks, they look good, but I was wondering, have you done the same recipe but with canned white crab meat? And also, do you know the approx calories and sodium content per salmon cake?
The little bones are the healthiest part! And they don’t bother me at all. You really dont even notice them. If you want the omega 3’s then leave the bones in.
my husband and i loved this recipe! i used bread crumbs instead of saltines, dried tarragon, a little dried minced onion, no capers and green onion as a garnish. i made your garlic aoli then added some dried tarragon to that. It was a hit!
Nice video. Simple and easy to understand and follow. Thanks!
I subbed green olives for the capers and added garlic powder and green onions. This was FANTASTIC! I also made the garlic Aioli, and fell in love with it. Mmmm. This recipe is also going into the family meal rotation. Thank you!
i just found your channel was looking for salmon cakes recipies did i spell that right lol no and tried yours it was great so was the dill sauce thanks for the up load
id like to try to make it, just how would it taste with tunato dry or what
interesting, I’ve never seen canned wild salmon like that before with the skin and bones and all…gotta check the grocery store now.
ahhhh ketchup, its there anything it can’t do. (is’nt that what homer simpson said about beer?)
A ton of honey! lol hehe…that was funny! A ton, a tad not a big difference right? My mom in law cans her own salmon so this will work great! Looks YUMMY! Thanks
I just made salmon patties for my family last week. My southern grandmother always used mashed potatoes instead of breadcrumbs. So I did too, except I like to sneak veggies in, so I puréed some cauliflower as well. My 22 month old little boy…LOVED them! I’d love for you to check out my new channel, “SneakyVeggie”
