How to run on a track well firstly you put one foot in front of the other and then the other and so forth
Thank you for this. I constantly run at the track for my longer runs because I’m not use distances. But my god my biggest pet peeve is when a walker is in the first lane. I know not everyone understands how it works but still
Hi great tips, but, could I ask 2 x questions for the running channel or anyone … (1) are all tracks 400m, (2) is the inner lane the same distance as the outer lane intuitively it seems like lane 8 should be longer?
Piled into someone who stopped suddenly on the mat at the end of a Half Marathon I had no time to avoid them…
If there are no “200m” markings on a track, do you just choose whatever staggered markings that start on the beginning of a curve?
don’t forget the rule of looking to the left/right when walking onto the track. Some clubs save the inside Lane so that the track does not get qorum out. don’t forget spikes..and also when it’s ice how leathal the surface can be. Also training on a track or road is not half as good as grass running and hills for improvement. I am sure I could think of some more points.
We have withdean running track in Brighton, but I have never throught of going to it,as I love the roads & trails so much. #TheRunningChannel
I’ve done a couple of track marathon races that’s 106.5 laps.
Luckily, laps are counted using a timing chip.
Thank you so much! I really needed help with this I’m used to road running.
I have always been advised by my physiotherapist and sports doctor to take track running over road/tarmac running as it is more forgiving on the knees and therefore better for me. I certainly get less problems using the track then I did on the road when training.
What experience do you have of running on the track? Let us know in the comments below
I was actually searching for the Le Mans racing track when I landed here.
Am fast but my endurance is not that good is it going to be a problem
i wanna get into my middle school track team and get ready while I’m on corona break but my body is a literal potato
I competed in track&field in highschool. I still love getting to do track workouts
Great video never been on a track but will do so having seen how keen you guys are!
I’m a sprinter, I’ll never set the world alight in triathlon. I like interval track sessions because I can pull out a 50 second 400m and finally impose some pain on my club’s best triathletes.
I do two track sessions a week and don’t feel any bad consequences. So I wonder if my track isnt just as “hard” as mentioned in the video. So do the colors matter (mine is a red one), or am I just tough?
Great Video I really like your content
My shoes/feet hurt when I run on a track, because it’s always turning one way I guess…
I tend to struggle to know what sort of recovery to do between reps, I tend to do shorter recoveries between shorter reps but have seen plenty of people do the opposite
How is the 400m measured. Is it along the inside line or the centre line of the inside lane? Thanks for the video.
It’s October 2019 and I pity myself for still not understanding these staggers.
How about the 100m sprint? Where does that start and stop? I’m trying to time my son, thank you

During the start, why do many sprinters only put their finger tips of the ground? Is their a rule stopping you from putting your whole hand on the ground?
