Do you do curry? Would you please consider doing a video all about curry? I know absolutely zilch about curry except I really like it.:-)
you throw away a lot of money and great asparagus when you break off the bottom, just cut a guarter inch off the bottom and peel the lower couple inches with your potato peeler and enjoy all of your investment
That chef needs to stop eating his own food! Unhealthy to be so big!
They are sold in different thicknesses = asparagus varies in size.
How many of ARMY are here because TaeHyung mentioned that roasted asparagus is his favourite?!
That nothing new, I blench my asparagus is water for 5 minutes so there will be pretty in green, then I sea salt lighty and ground blk pepper with olive oil and cook them in oven
Now I can learn how to cook Asparagus Roasted, that my honey TaeHyung really wants!! Thank you for the tips.
25 min. is definitely too long. I tried and have to throw many away. Since it is over-cooked for 25 min. in 400 degree.
Mine are too done. What is a good time? I out mine in for the 20 minutes she said and they are all shriveled up.
what the hell is wrong with the video? it’s giving me a headache
When will be the right time to add garlic to this? Start or the end of cooking? Thanks
Learned something new today. Bend and snap the asparagus. All these years I have been cutting off the ends. Thanks for that advice.
Can I freeze the bottom of the asparagus that will be for soups? If so do I thaw it or cook it first before making soup
I never waste the bottoms of asparagus.. use a vegetable peeler.. remove the tougher skin from the bottom stems.. it will reveal a tender stem that one should not throw out.. EAT IT
I just grilled some asparagus and uncharacteristically I followed your recipe to the letter. Results were amazing. Thanks so much for the video.
love-love-love roasted asparagus! my fav side dish! but I love it grilled even more)
and I love drizzle some lemon juice on top.
I learned something today! How to find the real breaking point, so there’s NO waste. Thank you. Have a beautiful day.
Currently have asparagus in pan & was curious about a new recipe so Chef Ramsay video was very well timed. I usually follow a similar prep. but use garlic sea salt & bake in oven with a Mexican blend or cheddar jack cheese on top. The vegetable stock is something I never used before so going to add that for a change (err.. going to have to sacrifice a can of Cambell’s Veg. soup for the cause cause I’m currently out of stock). Alas.. almost all the commentary here on this video is about the low FPS or on triggered smoke alarms, not the dish:-P. He should do his next video in 144p to really set people off ;-).
Just tried out this recipe, and it turned out amazing!! It was the best asparagus I’ve made by far!
How do they cook the asparagus in the restaurant? It has a certain sauce on it and it’s so good.
Gordon Ramsay, the one chef who can make your mouth water by showing how to cook asparagus.
Was about to grill these, but I got these protein sticks roasting in the oven with a teaspoon of garlic powder sprinkled over.
Thank you for the informative way of cooking and learning how to tell if the asparagus is beyond the expiration date.
Ok Great. But why choose the fattest asparagus ever? I was taught to aim for “pencil-sized” asparagus.
Someone tell why I hate this women’s guts and I’ve never even seen her before
I’ll give ya a thicccckkk asparagus if you know what I’m saying.. jk lol
LOVE!!! have a bundle of Asparagus didn’t know how to cook 1st thought Dani Spies! The BEST!
I add more seasonings to accent the flavor of asparagus… hmm.?
I like how the name of her channel matches our current situation btw thankq for the video
Your tips are helpful. I think if you spoke like you would at home, It will be more easier to follow along. Not being disrespectful, just helpful!
Made this tonight. It was absolutely amazing. I added garlic powder for some extra zing.
Please add the oven temperature at the beginning of the video. Thank you
The reason why the fps is so bad is because this video is from his Masterclass. So it’s ilegal this video being on YouTube
This set off every smoke alarm in my house. Surprisingly the texture was nice if you could get past the black char on the outside.
I was all in until he stuck his tongs into his arm pit prior to turning the asparagus… I’m going to try the recipe just not that way of holding my tongs.
Dani, I love your top and necklaces! You always look so vibrant and energetic. And I’m totally adding asparagus to my grocery list tomorrow:)
that stomach of yours is filled with junk food what do you care about esparagus
The moon landing footage has more frames per second than this video.
love these kind of videos. Short & straight to the point. Thank you.
The bottom parts are very much edible and delicious; just not the tough skin. They can be tourne cut, peeled, or squeezed or sucked out after cooking.
I’ve made this several times since first seeing the recipe a few weeks ago and I’m completely addicted now to cooking asparagus this way. You’ve really raised my awareness of how much flavor roasting adds to veggies.
EXACTLY what I was looking for! Where to cut, how to tell if it’s gone bad, and how long to cook. Perfect, thank you!
Don’t cut them all at once using one “as a guide”. They all have WIDELY varied breaking points. Also, hold the asparagus at very end of the wide end, not a couple inches up to find that point.
I’m trying to get into cooking a little bit more in this quarantine, and you’ve made some absolutely fantastic videos. Going to try this one out next chance I get! BTW, those special effects are 10/10.
Also, love your energy. Nothing better than to learn cooking from somebody who has a love for life, and who makes the process look and sound exciting. Very motivational!
Thank you so much for this!! I’ve never been a Vegetable lover, so I’m kinda clueless how to cook em…I know, crazy, but true! Can’t wait to make these, they’re my hubby’s favorite! Hope you’re feeling better!❤❤❤
Great video I just saved dinner. I was walking through the kitchen and happened to notice that the entire can of asparagus has gone bad. So I’ve tossed it in the trash much to my girlfriend’s dismay. Thanks again.
is there like a side effects on the wet head on the asparagus when you cook and eat them afterwards?
OK, the first asparagus of the season was available today and I tried this recipe alongside a scrambled egg burrito. Yum!!! How will we ever eat ordinary steamed asparagus again???? Thank you so much for this recipe!
Roasted asparagus are delicious, but 25 min. is too long, 15 to 20 minutes it’s long enough, otherwise you are missing important nutrients from the vegetable.
Just the recipe/information I needed today to go with my pork tenderloin. Thank you so much!
Great thank you.
A suggestion we use to much plastic use a large bowl with a plate to cover or pot with lid and shake it up in that and that can be washed instead of adding plastic to land fill.
Cheers
10+ years of cooking and I’ve never boiled asparagus, always sautee! Water will only dilute the flavour
I just did this. PERFECT! Thank you! I just made Beef filet minion on the BBQ, Oven baked potatoes (toe Joe’s) and these asparagus. Marvelous!
This is amazing! I have also recently published asparagus recipe on my channel!
Thanks for sharing this recipe with all of us. Best ever asparagus recipe i have seen so far. Also sharing here roastd asparagus with parmesen. Check out the recipe here:
https://www.foodybud.com/roasted-asparagus-with-parmesan-and-soft-boiled-eggs/
Great video, Can i use the woody parts of the aspargus for stock?
TFS I love this grilling series keep it up I’d love some grilled chicken breast tips so it doesn’t dry out
Just made this for breakfast and one of my five year olds loved this so much he almost ate the entire bundle!
Chef Rodney looked like he wanted to punch Thomas a few times which would have been fucking hilarious.
I was watching a video by Julia Child on how to prepare asparagus. Instead of breaking or snapping the end like you show she trims the outer layer of the end and cooks the whole asparagus. I like your method better but she makes it out like it’s waistful. What is your opinion?
do i need to drink the chemicals under my sink in order to give the same effect Gordon has in this video???
Can I do it at 450 for like 7 minutes?? I’m doing a recipe that calls for 450 and I want both out at the same time
It’s not inedible. It’s compost or dog food or….don’t throw out your money Honey.
Great, short video! Still, it took me almost 30 minutes to roast, not 10. Thank you!
When I was making this recipe, everything was lagging in my house
Great video Dani. Any suggestions for reheating roasted asparagus without losing its texture? I want to prep a bunch for the week.
I made this, it was actually very good and quick despite the dubious video.
With the asparagus you used. Under 400 degrees at 10 mins. How did they come out?
ya spring is coming one we get rid of the snow and ice maybe a month LOL
a great vid Dani on the asparagus.
aspragus is one of the few veg that keep their crunch after cooking it
you heat up the whole kitchen for asparagus? just pan fry for a few minutes.
I really want to grow my own asparagus, but the animals will get to them before I do. And BTW, you got NO “winter weight.” You look fabulous.
Love this Simple and sweet! I am going to make this for Easter dinner! Yum!
I just roasted some asparagus last night for dinner… everytime I do, the stem is always stringy and gets between my teeth:/ According to this, I may not be roasting them long enough. I will try your suggestion and see:) Thanks for sharing!
Awesome recipe! A delicacy! We loved them so much, and so simple….
I only use paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and olive oil let them marinate in the mix for about 20min and then cook in pan on the stove make sure to cover the pan.and it’s always taste so good,u can also added a little bit of lemon juice
Love this! Nice and simple, can you do more vegetable recipes please but easy ones lol
I always grill the whole thing and it comes out like butter…maybe I’m just lucky to live in MN?
Looks good can’t tried before tried 25 minutes the small ones need less time
Dani, idk how you feel about coffee, it would be cool if you do a show on coffee beans and the diff types coffee and diff ways to make it. Etc. your awesome! Love your show.
Dani, have you ever tried grilling asparagus? It is absolutely amazing. I have a similar recipe but instead of baking I’ll grill it for about 5 minutes and it comes out perfect. Moist and crisp but also watery inside and not burnt. Tastes just like if i had baked it but quicker and you get that nice tasty grill flavor.
Nice and easy also some good tips in this video! Thanks for sharing!!
Oh yum! Rachel, Thanks for doing grill recipes. Here in S FLORIDA we use the grill year round and almost daily. More please.
PS: ive discovered it is healthier to steam the asparagus because that way the nutrients stay more in it!!
Always rinse your produce with coolwater first then pat dry if need be.
Three pinches of rough salt hardly seasoned all that asparagus.
Thank you. I got an idea how to bake asparagus. I will make it today.
This recipe kicks ass. Simple/basic and the family loves it. Great job and thank you for posting this vid.
2:25 WHAT!?!?? CRISP ON THE OUT WHAT!?!?!?!?! TELLLLLLL MEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
Asparagus is one of my favorite roasted veggies. My absolute favorite is broccoli. Thanks for sharing!
I like them a little crispier than the norm and this method is PERFECT for that crunchy outer coating. It especially helps if your oven runs hot like mine does. If your oven is slightly hotter than most at 400 degrees (or if your asparagus is a little thinner), I recommend only baking them for 20 minutes instead of 25.
Putting the tonges used for food under his armpit??? Gross!!!
Looks like a good recipe but I’m kinda disturbed by her calling asparagus “creamy”
my favorite salad is greens, roasted beets, roasted, asparagus, alittle goat cheese, balsamic vingarette…. or love my asparagus..roasted with alittle grated parmesan with lemon
How are they supposed to be/taste after you cook them? I just did this, but I think I must’ve over cooked them help!
I just made them…SIMPLE & DELICIOUS!! Thank you!!!!
Try adding a sprinkle of tarragon and broiling at 450 for 5 mins.:)
I simply love her videos<<<< thank you for all your beautiful cooking knowledge
I think that was a little bit…oh ya it’s 2017 I’ll get murdered for speaking my mind
The tips of asparagus are particularly tasty when slightly charred in my opinion. So what I tend to do is put foil only on the bottom of the tray and let the tips touch the edge, which tends to be hotter. that way you end up with crisp tips while cooking the rest of it to an acceptable level.
Do u think I can bake them in the oven? If so what temp and how long? Ty
i eat too much meat i am leaning a little bit towards more green lately… this looked amazing…
This should be called “Fresh Octopus” since it’s not actually alive, even though it looks to be.
This may be a dumb question, but should you wash asparagus before cutting their ends off or after? Or do you even wash them at all? I can’t wait to make them! Thank you for the recipe.
I’d say cook the thicker, woody ones for 15-25, but the smaller & younger, might burn. I did 15, & they were great. Check at 10 min, just to be safe.
I feel that they weren’t cooked long enough. I like mine soft a little
Awesome and quick recipe. Also, be careful cooking barefoot!:D 1:59
I’ve watched a few videos on how to cook this vegetable and I can honestly tell you that this is by far the best! This is the most beautifully cooked asparagus I’ve seen.
how do u know when asparagus is done. I prefer a little crunch.
i messed up my first try came out hard to chew im gonna try this again next week when i cook steak again
400 degree oven? 25 mins? I think thats too much. Its not gunna be crispy anymore.
I like to simply sautee it in a pan, with olive oil, s&p, maybe some granulate or fresh crushed garlic. It’s delicious! Asparagus is one of those veggies that doesn’t need much more seasonings or herbs.
I LOVE YOUR Cooking WEBSITES 2 THUMBS UP EXCELLENT ANSWERS OUTSTANDING Give A HIGH FIVE EXCELLENT ANSWERS THANKYOU
I have become addicted to roasting all my veggies because of your videos! It’s true, roasting them just brings out such a delicious flavor! Thanks for your videos:)
I roast them all the time and YES, they are delicious! This video will definitely help a lot of people who didn’t know about roasting asparagus!
Red pepper flakes, squeeze lemon, and chop up some garlic and add Parmesan cheese… omg yummmm….
I thought I was wrong with 25 min. and check the video today. it is said 25 min.
Had two firsts tonight: roasted garlic (see Dani’s video) and roasted asparagus the right way! So delicious and amazing! My asparagus was thin and I guess it didn’t need a full 20 mins, but it came out so crispy and flavorful that I loved it!!!! I put it in my salad, and I spread the roasted garlic on my toast…YUMMY!!!! Thank you!:-)))))
I put some lemon zest and garlic salt as well! I will add some fresh squeezed lemon juice after they cook and some fresh parmesan cheese. Anything you like really!
Most asparagus breaks when you bend it tho. I could break one piece into 10 for no reason
The bend and snap method is a myth, just chop off the bottom 30 percent
I did the same thing last night, except I had the oven at 375 and only did 20 minutes. I also threw a couple fillets of tilapia in the pan and had my main dish cook at the same time. Delicious!! I enjoy your videos. And yes, I know about the winter weight.:P
25 min is toooo long I did mine for 12 and they were almost perfect the tiny ones were over cooked so I suggest 10 min @25 min they will be mush or stringy which means inedible
The temperature is in Celcius? You mentioned using baking sheet but you used just the tray, pls. advise. Tq.
I LOVE asparagus but wasn’t really sure how to cook them as I have had them in restaurants. Now, I am going to try your method. Looks so easy & seasoned so simple. Thanks for your video. You have THE BEST asparagus video out there on YouTube.
My asparagus isn’t that good when I cook it in a pan. I’ll do this for now on.
I use lemon pepper…. good also….. have a great summer….
Thanks! My husband loves asparagus and this will be a healthier way to fix than soaked in a cream sauce (my fav). -Anne
Liked your simple recipe We recently posted an Asparagus 101 + Easy Stir Fry Recipe on our YouTube channel. Simple & Delicious
Can you use broil? My oven doesn’t have a working bake option.
Tried it and it was not very good. With boiling for 8-10 minutes the asparagus taste much more tasty and fresh.
I like roasting Brussels Sprouts too. They taste much less bitter cooked that way.
You are such a great woman & I love your channel so much. Always, something to learn from you. Thank you for this recipe
Steam it over filtered water, until it turns a nice hulk green color, bite test one, make sure it’s not to hard and not to soft.
Why is it that people make negative or inappropriate comments. I find that strange. Thanks for the video.
Great video Gordon But how long do we fry for and leave standing for this would be a great help I desperately need to know this so I can impress my french girl friend yours faithfully Chris Martin
I love the funny endings on all your videos! Keep up the great work.
Umm, I don’t remember the “armpit” technique in cooking school. Does it add more flavor to the food, disinfect the tongues, or just a handy-dandy place to hold them??
So you mean to tell me I waiting four minutes to find out it takes 180 seconds to cook asparagus lmao
Can I freeze the bottom of the asparagus that will be for soups? If so do I thaw it or cook it first before making soup
That’s perfect except my family’s favorite is to add parmesan cheese at the end and let it melt a little before removing it from the oven
thumbs up for the tip about getting rid of the woody part of the asparagus. Did it today, so much better.
Came out perfect! Thank you for a simple and straightforward explanation on how to prepare and roast asparagus.
I normally pan-fry asparagus in butter but today I couldn’t because I had no room on the stove-top for a frying pan so I googled “roasted asparagus” (because the oven was empty) and you have saved the day! Thankyou! This was my very first Sous Vide session and the meal, a pork tenderloin, turned out to be exactly how I wanted it too despite the fact that the sous vide gear took up all my stove-top space (more or less.)
Thanks Dani, your asparagus looked fantastic. If only we had smellavision lol
Can you add lemon on the asparagus before you pop it in the oven?
Make stock for soup by slow cooking the woody ends in a little water or chicken stock. Remove the asparagus ends and add cream cheese to thicken and flavour the soup.
You are the best!!!! You’re always clear and precise!!! Thank you!
@ 2:01 did he just say “do you want to handle my fresh, black pecker?”?????
Its too bad you can’t sample my grilled asparagus, theres never any left over.
Looks awsome and delicious:P But dont the asparagus cook a little bit when they are bunched up like that?
