This is disgusting. Given that a plant-based no added oil diet does everything this diet does for weight loss and doesn’t cause cancer and kill the planet in the process, it is malpractice to be recommending this horrible, wasteful way of eating to anyone.
I heard you speak at the 2015 Immersion in Sedona. Keep going! And I got that shirt too!
Love Adam! Though…kinda embarrassing when he was pouring his heart out, telling heart-wrenching stories…only to be met with viewer questions of ‘what does your shirt say?’…and then followed up later with a ‘where did you get that shirt?’ ♀️ The choice of questions, and timing of frivolous questions, could’ve been handled much, much differently.
so let me get this straight, SAD diet with all the processed plant food and seed oil causes a reaction with meat substances that’s bad. and the answer is NOT to stop eating the junk plant food and seed oil? you raise me red meat allergy (affecting virtually no one) I raise you anti-nutrient anti-nutrients destroying vegan guts the world over. enjoy.
Thank you, I would love you to interview Dr mansoor Mohammad PhD, a medical genomics clinician.
It works for me.problem is people fall off the wagon to easy.they dont get instant results and fail to maintain it until it gets to be a pleasurable habit and the results and obvious benefits smack them in the face.they have been sick so long they dont remember how it feels to be healthy.if they stick with it the health returns and life returns to great feelings moods energy and no aches pains stiffness or anxiety and depression.just give it as long as it takes and you will see.can take months for long term type 2 patients dont fall off the wagon control is in your hands not the doc
cool identical twins? I want to know if his bro had ADD and if his bro is also a food addict? If they want to share it.
Wow! Thank you Adam for sharing. Th SAD diet is substance abusewhat a concept! You opened my eyes today.
I’m a fellow 12 stepper in AA and it has changed my life for the last 26 years. I’ve been eating a whole food plant based diet for just 2 months, and am blown away by how good I feel, and I know my life is continuing to evolve and recover. My Type 2 has reversed in this short time, arthritis aches improved, 20 pounds gone. Your story is so powerful and motivates me to continue to get better a day at a time. Thank you, Adam. I’m a new groupie!
Que pena que no esté traducido al español!!!! Si activo los subtítulos, también son en inglés.
Thank you AJ!! I’ve been following you and WFPB folks for five years but I hadn’t heard Adam.
So inspiring! A true gift. I am very grateful to you both.
Unbelievable interview Adam…. I was crying when you got emotional too! You have really touched my heart today! I used to be plant based and have wavered in my journey…thanks for giving me the motivation to try it again and be an example for my husband who has so many heath issues.❤️
Fellow sweet potato addict here! I loved this interview. I can relate on so many levels. Thanks!
The Hawaiian (purple ones) way is baked, sliced, in coconut milk. Delicious!
AJ thank you for your hard work to bringing such informative youtube videos to us with brilliant experts. I admire you always. Its with your guidance I have become a complete plant-based individual and feel fantastic. I am soon joining Dr Campbell’s plant-based online course and going to become a health coach. I have become an innovative plant-based cook and share the recipes with my many friends.
Adam you are a remarkable young man to have come out on the GOOD side of addiction. I wish I had known a lot of this before losing my husband to the affects of alcohol.
Didn’t get to be an octogenarian by consuming meat and dairy.
where can someone read these articels? ideally online.. thanks
the sad thing is there are thousands of Adams out there but only a few will be reached due to ignorance and greed
Japanese purple sweet potatoes for me! Cooked and then served cold tastes like cheesecake for me❤️✨
Thanks to body builders and athletes to alert doctors to the fact that carbs cause wieght gain.
Left to ourselves we are all addicts because addiction is a replacement for relationship. Asking yourself why was a great step.
I met Adam a few years ago at the 2 forks conference in Cleveland. He’s a very nice guy!
Not sure what you’re doing different Chef AJ, but it’s pretty
First of all, if you believe that you are getting better advice because
it is given by a doctor and/or their is a study that recommends it, you
are not very bright.
We all genetically know what to eat. We are all hard wired to eat certain foods.
All animals are, including humans.
We instinctively understand what is good for us, but unfortunately for
most people, we are also just smart enough to not understand that things
we hear about nutrition from other people are basically no better an
opinion than the instincts we all have.
Doctors are just people, and they even can’t agree on what to eat.
Dr. John McDougall, Dr Ken Berry, Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. Peter Attia, Dr.
Shawn Baker, Dr. Michael Gregor, Dr. Robert Atkins, Dr. Joseph Mercola,
Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr Robert Lustig, Dr Oz, Dr Phil, and Dr. Doom as well
as this doctor all have different and sometimes contrary ideas on what
to eat. No matter what your opinion on diet is, you will have a medical
doctor telling you that you are eating the wrong diet and possibly
killing yourself.
Plus anybody with any brain whatsoever understands that studies are just as contradictory as doctors are.
As a human and an animal, you instinctively understand what to eat. You
eat what your ancestors ate, plenty of meat, possibly some vegetable
and fruits, and whatever makes you feel good and stay healthy.
Just because some doctor quotes some study does not automatically make them correct.
Doctors are just humans and they are wrong all of the time. The fact
that they cannot agree on anything, and have various opinions proves my
point.
Same thing goes for studies too.
This is doctor of full of it. He says that red meat is the cause of hardening of the arteries. This is not true because I had this severe problem of hardening of the arteries and I was not eating red meat or any meat at all to get this condition, In fact I was a vegan, eating grains and vegetables. I was at the pre diabetic stage with an AIC of 7, which is high blood sugar due to eating a high carb diet. I reverse this issue by eating meat and dairy, in order words going low carb, hi fat and moderate protein. Do not believe this clown.
Mr Pharma loves to get you either way, Body weakness or Evil LDLs,Meds are from God[the church of medicine].
What a beautiful soul! Such an inspiration. Thanks, Chef AJ for this amazing interview, and, of course, all YOU are and all you do <3
Loved this so much. Makes me feel good about eating food instead of recipes
How fortunate your parent was supportive. Family support helps immensely. Congratulations to you Adam.
Bacon prevents colon cancer, as a study shows, so I guess it can’t be that bad. My husband had a “bad” colonoscopy and had to have another on 2 years later. At the same time, he upped his meat consumption to twice a day, along with 2 eggs for breakfast. He just had his colonoscopy, and it’s clean, plus he continues to have stellar check-ups, as I do. The most important thing to do for both mental and physical health is to follow your ancestral diet, whatever your ancestry is. I follow the high fat Northern European diet and am finally recovering from being a vegetarian for 35 years, when I still drank coffee, tea, and wine, and ate chocolate, some refined flour, and sugar, which are the real problem foods-all these cravings are gone.
Sure worked for me! Mid January I knew I had to crack down on my diet because I had blood work coming up in the first week of March. Despite the fact that the a1C “looks back” about 12 weeks, with only 6 weeks on low carb my a1C dropped from “prediabetic” to “good, normal.” That’s with the weeks of holiday eating included!
I also saw my fasting blood sugar drop from 100-110 to 90 in that time frame and continues to drift downward. I have gone zerocarb the last three days and I saw my FBG drop to 63 today! Yesterday I had 12 ounces of salmon for dinner. Two hours later, my FBG was 83. Ho hum! I suspect that an a1C today would be “Excellent.”
Further, my labs would make a 20 year old envious, and I was 73 when drawn. Off the charts excellent by every measure and ratio.
Sadly, my weight loss has been minimal. Five pounds in four months despite eating only 1700 cals/day which is just my BMR and being 6’1″ and currently 213 pounds.
I record everything I eat, my average carb intake is 50-60 grams a day since mid-January. As a percentage, I’m running only 12% of calories from carbs, so I guess I’m in the ketogenic diet category per this doctor.
Summary: I’m living proof of the benefits of a VLC/Ketogenic diet.
Sweet potatoes taste AMAZING, they taste like sweet potatoes cakes to me so I took it a step further yesterday with Uganda sweet potatoes. I took my roasted sweet potatoes with skin on mashed it with a fork and added a banana, cinnamon, mixed spice and some water and mashed it up. Filled half a cup cake silicon case with the mash and placed black currents in the middle and the topped up with more mash. Shaped the top as a muffin and placed it in the fridge till I was ready to bake them and I baked them in the oven for 35 mins on 180 degrees and they were AMAZING.Great show
I regularly sprinkle cinnamon on my sweet potatoes, my son loves them too. Thanks for sharing your experience, it’s heart wrenching to watch people suffer from preventable health issues and addiction but there is a way to recover from it all and feel amazing each day! For me, ditching coffee changed so much for one I became a much nicer human But I felt better too. Thanks again
Oh yes. Sweet potatoes are a staple in my house. Sweet potatoes and kale 3 times a day and you’ll have all your nutrients!
I’m new to your channel, and it’s great, but all your playlists seem informational/factual. I think maybe you’re missing a ‘How to get healthy’ playlist. After I watched a few of your more ‘informational’ videos I thought ‘where the hell do I start, how do I do all these things I should be doing’, and it was quite difficult to find this video and the other ‘practical ones’.
My goodness! What a powerful message this young man brings! Thank you for an inspiring interview tonight.
Best interview I have seen in a long time! Thank you Adam and Chef AJ!
I’m with you Dr Kahn on the carcinogenic food in hospitals. I’ve always wondered why PCRM has never gone after JCAHO about the food in hospitals and nutritional education in court. I think that would make the biggest difference in the hospital environment.
Great talk..thanks so much for sharing such a powerful experience and message!
Tomorrow is 1 month of Keto for me. I have lost 20Kg (about 44 lbs) 8 years of insulin treated T2D down from 70 units of insulin per day, down to 0. Metformin down to 1/3 of my usual daily dose.
+ Never got the “Keto flu”
+ Never got constipated.
+ severe back pain gone
+ bad join pains gone
+ muscle aches gone
+ after the 3rd day, no cravings for carbs.
+ I feel great! The whole process has been very easy for me.
I feel a bit guilty. Has it been too good/easy for me?
I need to get a new wardrobe soon.
I’m expecting the weight loss the next month to be much smaller. But that’s ok. I’m not doing keto as a temporary fix. This is my life now!
I’m just walking in to the hospital where I work, wishing desperately that things were different. Thank you, Dr. Westman.
I almost lost 160 pounds once. But she managed to find her way home.
well let’s wait to see how popular u get ull probably get raided
I have been a diabetic for 20 years. My HgA1C is the lowest it has been in 5 years on LCHF.
This podcast was so cute to see the couples share great information express through their relational dynamics. You guys are great! I’m looking forward to preparing my family to become brain warriors. My kids are starting to eat veggies even after they all said they don’t want it. Now they eat and love Zucchini, Broccoli, Brussels sprouts. I believe its how they are prepared and presented. Lol
I went visiting for a few days at a friend’s house and I didn’t bring my food. This was a processed-food house. They had Easter candy, Cadbury Creme Eggs, ice cream, doughnuts, pork chops, fried chicken, butter-biscuits, shortbread cookies, chili made with ground beef no vegetables potato chips, peanut butter….FUDGE…soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, tobacco….and the white rice they had cooked was fortified with unlimited amounts of salt, and oil. Not a single whole natural food was consumed by anyone. I also noticed the several sets of prescription meds, Lipitor, Benazepril, albuterol, Ambien, assorted pain and allergy medications….no wonder, really. I was aghast at the way these people ate. Ugh, I ended up eating white rice and only white rice for three days. And you know, they had the unmitigated gall to ask me, “but how do you get your protein? Don’t you think white rice is unhealthy? What about all those CARRRRRRBS?!?!?!” It’s like I was in my little own Twilight Zone episode.
I went from a1c of 9.2 to 5.3 in less than three months by following a low carb diet. I was takin 2000 mg metformin daily gave up all diabetic medication into the first three weeks of program. Went from 195 lbs to 180 lbs. Was diagnosed diabetic 12 years most likely pre diabetic 20 years.
I love your videos, but you really need to put some sound in those intros. Hell, I will even write some intro music for you. I keep wanting to turn my speakers up and then “BAM” the sound comes and I am almost deaf. lol
This guy sounds like a rapper with his 10 minutes of shoutouts!
What a beautiful and courageous human being. I love what he has turned his life into! I will watch this repeatedly. Thank you again Chef AJ. ❤️
This interviewer looks like the people in the capital of Panem from Hunger Games. Why the weird look?
Lost 70 pounds in 4 months doing plant based diet no oil, drinking one liter of orange juice every day:)
Amazing story and incredible strength to tell it!! you will save so many people!
I’m an RN…and if anyone would like me to gives talks on the Ketogenic diet…I’ll offer…it’s not rocket science…one certainly does not need a degree to speak of this, but it helps
Thanks Dr. Westman, brilliant lecture… big fan, also Dr.’s Volek, Phinney, Fettke, Noakes, Seyfried… et al. Medical books form 1859 also give these guidline for Carbohydrate Diseases… aka Saccharide Diseases… and these were in the news papers starting in 1956… with warning about the “Saccharide Diseases”… but Politics… Epigenetics and now we see runaway metabolic diseases…
Unfortunate “There is No Known Carbohydrate Deficiency Disease how about that”… but many are addicted now… Dr. Peeke Hyper-palatable Foods = Sugar = Dopamine = Cocaine = Addiction…
70 Going On 100… the Centenarian Diet
google “McClellan-Dubois one year meat trial” This clinical study was done at Bellevue Hospital in New York. in 1930 After two guys ate nothing but red meat for one year they were in excellent health, no disease, no kidney damage. Also go to MeatRx.com.
the medical community doesn’t know anything about food it’s sad and.pathetic
they know this works it’s not new and they have been trying to stop this so people are forced to stay on meds and that’s the problem doctors don’t do healthcare they do business
Clinical evidence is always so convincing, so it is nice to see a physician that has so much clinical success with a low carb diet, thus providing substantial evidence of its efficacy. Thank you Dr. Westman for all the work you are doing, taking the low carb theory and putting it into practice.
I would like to know how to decrease insulin dosage when in the low carb high fat diet
Amazing! Better without the music it’s distracting a bit:)
I work at a hospital as graphic designer and recently went vegan and I have to say the cafeteria serves bacon burgers, deli sandwiches, sweets, sodas, etc. They recently just build a heart hospital which conveniently is right next the cafeteria!! LIKE WTF!!!!! I want to bring it up and shed light on this matter but I’m scared I might lose my job.
Love your show, great info presented simple direct and thorough. Ever done a show on alcoholic consumption effects on health? ie can i continue my 1 to 2 drinks per day?
What I cant understand and maybe someone here can explain is with statement that a type 1 diabetic cannot store bodyfat without insulin. If a body cannot store fat without insulin secretion then how is it that fat intake is said to not promote insulin secretion or very very little.Makes no sense.
Here are some facts that vegans hate:
1. Food cravings are instinctive. Meat consumption is also instinctive.
2. Almost all strict vegans eventually return to eating meat for two reasons. Worsening health and cravings.
3. Humans are animals and instinctively know what to eat.
4. The overwhelming majority of people agree that meats taste better than vegetables.
5. Meat based diets need no or very little vitamin or mineral supplementation.
6. Vegan diets require vitamin or mineral supplementation.
7. Inuit populations were in perfect health and they had no vegetables available in their native diets and were extremely healthy until they adopted western diets.
8. American Indians were completely healthy with their buffalo based diet and had no obesity or health problems until they adopted a western diet.
9. No vegan culture have lasted and have all failed to thrive and survive.
I’m so thankful to Dr. Westman. He’s truly doing this to educate and help people. I hope his adapt program grows because more people need this!
I liked. Still the fear to shout out loud the obvious in order to present the rise of LDL and HDL as normal and healthy when going keto and fat burning simultaneously lowering TG. So SAD that we have to fight two separate Dragons.
Thank you for doing this, Chef AJ! I appreciate all the life changing conversations you share with the world. You make me feel connected to the movement.
I love the knowledge you drop in there. The music really made me enjoy it much less. thanks!
Thank you Dr. Westman for your continued leadership in the weight loss community.
the audio kept bouncing around in this episode, it bothered me so much I had to take out one of my earbuds just to stand listening to this, great vid tho
He’s inspiring and motivating. That said, he is stressing not to rely on inspiration and motivation, but preparation, and environmental control so that you can only choose to do right. You aren’t going to be motivated every day, or inspired for more than a little while and in certain places. In other places like parties, and other days like Thanksgiving, you’re going to fail if you rely on your emotional state and will power. But if your kitchen has got only good things, you are more likely to succeed than if it has some bad and you must rely on inspiration and motivation to avoid them, you’re going to lose in the all-important day-to-day struggle by using only inspiration and motivation. Preparation is far more powerful than motivation, which is just emotion, and it comes and goes. The message is don’t just be inspired, be instructed about preparing your space, your time, your location, even your friends for success in following your health goals. I once heard him say if a flower isn’t growing right, you don’t fix the flower, you fix the soil. So, you don’t fix you, you fix your environment. The US is a snake pit of dangerous foods that can cause real and devastating health problems, and it’s all socially acceptable and even gets loved, but it’s deadly. So the preparation and grunt work to safeguard your diet is everything. That’s what I’ve got from him, and it’s invaluable insight into how this solution can work out. And it’s not inspiration or motivation. Brilliant.
Did you see the blood glucose control on the study Kevin Hall last submitted for peer review? Rock solid.
Hi from Danville, VA very close to Duke. I have been on KETO for 6 months fighting A1C 6.8 and Blood pressure close to 200. Making progress A1c is 5.9, weight dropped 15 lbs and blood pressure around 160. I found that taking 2 grams of Ceylon Cinnamon had an immediate effect on fasting glucose. In two days saw drop 106 to 90. Can you explain how cinnamon has an insulin effect? I will continue cinnamon for a few weeks to see if there are any lasting effects. 66 years old, very athletic on cpap.
WOW! Wonderful interview. I pray for the drugs to just go away, and that we all just say NO even to pharma drugs, and get the wisdom to GO VEGAN.:) I also had an issue with pharma twice. I knew I had to get off them, and prayed for help and strength from the L-rd, and he heard and sent me wisdom, and people like Mr. Adam to help me. This young man is sooo encouraging, and preaches TRUE WORDS to ALL who need to hear him. Oh, Praise G-d!! G-d bless y’all!
Very powerful statement I am responsible for my problem, I fix the problem. If we are responsible for our health, no medical solution can possibly work. Let food be thy medicine. How inspiring please go on a talking tour of high schools. Nobody is teachng them nutrition.
The American Diabetic Association should be labeled a criminal organization. Most of the sponsors are in the junk food industries. “Sure, eat that bran muffin! Just shoot more insulin!”
Sir, I am from India
In morning my heart rate is 56 and b.p 100/69
After exercise my heart rate goes to 91 and b.p 111/72
15 days ago I have some issue that my breathing stop during sleep ang gas problem
Then I goes to physician,he give me etopram 10 mg capsule
I have overthinking problem
Please suggest some suggestions sir
interesting that this is completely opposite to a Dr who has spent his entire career promoting a hi-carb diet, I have tried it and it worked for me and millions of others. No disrespect but Google Dr John McDougal if you want to get you health right.
Dr Fung with Diabetic Code has all this in his book. Not sure why America is so hung up on using tons of carbs and insulin which causes more weight gain does not work!
The harm is industry and government control the world but we will prevail, very inspired after listening to Adam..
Summary: red meat contains blah blah blah that increases bad stuff that may cause cancer and heart disease and that will kill you. Eat a plant based diet because it is not red meat and check out my vegan restaurant.
Yea… about TMAO.. Fish that has the most does not cause the highest spike in blood. So one can argue that TMAO itself does not cause higher TMAO in blood.
Wow! This was an amazing talk. Thank you Chef A.J. and Adam!!♡♡
Today I watched some interviews with a German designer who had many facial surgeries and is now looking very weird. I was appalled to see the behaviour of the interviewers and the audiences. If someone is different, people make fun of them and behave in a stupid way. It was incredible. Obese people, drug addicted people etc. must endure a lot.
Really gets my goat that some actual doctors and scientist don’t distinguish between t1dm, t2dm, lada, and any other form of diabetes.
One of my favorite interviews, Chef AJ! Thank you for these! ☺
What a load of rubbish. 0.00001% change in a lab proves nothing. 45 people!!! wooooohhh started to eat a balanced diet. FAKE NEWS searching for stardom than rather actually helping people. Healthy food is healthy. Period. You people do not understand food at all.
Fantastic diet. I lost 100 pound on this diet. best thing i ever did
Thoughts on this study?

This LCHF diet is being recommended by a FB group called “Type 2 Diabetes Support Group Global Network”. Seems the members claim to get good blood sugar results but I’m thinking they may be developing bad cholesterol + triglycerides readings…Here’s a typical one day menu, breakfast is always the same, proteins change daily…………………….
Breakfast: 2-3 scrambled eggs in 2T butter, bacon, coffee with Heavy Whipping Cream Morning
Snack: Hard boiled egg dice + mixed w/ 1Tb Duke’s Mayo
Lunch: 2 hand fulls of organic greens, 2 slices Boar’s Head roast beef cut up, 3 cherry tomatoes, 1 Tb Parmesan cheese, Marie’s Blue Cheese Dressing
Snack: 2 slices of bacon, 1 oz Sartori Market Cheese
Dinner: 1 Chicken Breast w/ Alfredo sauce, 6 spears asparagus.
Great advice I have a mild case of cerebral palsy so spasticity is a constant battle. I’ve noticed that cutting out animal products has decreased inflammation and makes walking easier! Now to tackle my high cholesterol, triglycerides and fatty liver. Hoping for better lab results soon.
Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into these videos! I definitely get overwhelmed by what constitutes a healthy diet and you present everything so succinctly!
Very cool that you’re at UCLA! I was a patient there for many years treating my cerebral palsy. It’s honestly such a revolutionary medical center.
so far, I have been eating low carb vegan with intermittent fasting for about week, though not keto, I feel great
we say really weird things, up until a month ago, it would have seemed crazy to give up, cocoa puffs, now i eat oats instead, and i feel much better
I was recently in the hospital and said I was vegan. The only things I could eat was oatmeal, fruit, bland over-cooked or under-cooked vegetables and plain salad. They had no beans on the menu, nothing tofu-based, no vegan burgers. It was a disgrace. Thankfully I was only there for three nights and two days. I probably only consumed about 700-1000 calories each day and was starving by the time I got home. Made me a huge salad with tons of green leafy veggies, other veggies, black beans and brown rice and then a bowl of berries as soon as I got home.
Addiction: a thing/substance/behaviour that one does to escape an uncomfortable emotion, over and over again, despite the negative consequences. Nearly everyone is addicted! There are different levels of it though.. I recognize myself in the whole story! I have gone through recovery myself and am now studying addiction therapy myself. Adam really knows what he is talking about. Go Adam and AJ! It takes real courage, strength and coolness to transform an ugly destructive addiction into something so beautiful, being an inspiration to others. Bless you!
Thank you So Much Dr. Amen for All of you information Incredibly informative!!! You will definately help my family. ❤❤❤
This approach changed my life. I’m back to my 1995 body after 1 year!
My mother, a diabetic that ended up with a QUINTUPLE BYPASS and subsequent strokes, was in the Methodist hospital in Waco, Texas for an infection and what did they feed her? Pancakes, eggs, bacon, orange juice.
I asked the nurse if they knew she was diabetic and was told “yes”… this is what they feed people with serious medical conditions? FFS
Corona virus came from a Meat. Not red meat necessarily. But still. Why we eating animals like we do..
Don’try and tell us all what to eat.
Great grandparents,Grandparents,And Parents all lived to a ripe old age into late eighties and nineties without this load of rubbish!
Ancel Keyes is God, therefore sat fat is aimed for heart {mr pharma said so}.60,000 surveys does not prove Truth.
I was heading toward type 2 diabetes, so rather than taking a suppliment, or drug to “make it better”, I stopped the habits that were causing the problem. Fix the problem at its source, don’t medicate it.
Holy smoke, Joel Khan is worried about TMAO. Hello 2010? It wants its outdated science back.
C’mon Chuck, Dr. Kahn zinged some good jokes in there. It’s ok to laugh. 😉
Awesome, Video , thank you for sharing, have a Wonderful, Saturday, sincerely, Diana Lipski a 7 years Vegan Lady
any time a real scientist confronts this quack the ‘studies’ he quotes he gets ripped apart. “we aren’t built to eat red meat” ha ha. I cannot believe vegans fall for this stuff. well, I guess they believe dr Gregor epidemiology studies too.
I take nutrition over a dogma any day. I am sticking with carnivore.
I call BS! Why as a human do we sweat so efficiently? Why do we have the ability to run very, very long distances? Is it to run 10 miles and rip a head of lettuce apart or is it to run 10 miles and rip the head off an animal? What about the Inuit? They don’t count in the study? There is a lot of “if you have” in this video. How about if you have to supplement a diet in any way then it is a bad diet! As a doctor, this guy should stop with the scare tactics. Really tho….cmon. I just saw Petey eat a Hotdog and now his nose is running OMFG… Stop the BS man….
vegan looks so bad compared to people eating meat, look at all the wrinkles
Vegans are some of the most annoying arrogant limp wristed sissies around.
I am writing this comment without watching the video, just based on the title alone.
I have been a longtime supporter of PCRM but reluctantly am not donating anymore for the reason I am posting this comment.
Reducing animal suffering is my top priority. And as you are aware, chicken consumption has sky rocketed over the decades. One of the main reasons for this increase in chicken consumption is that people are replacing red meat with chicken under the false assumption that this is a healthier choice.
Whenever people hear that red meat is unhealthy, this is what they do. Some people may go vegetarian or vegan but the vast majority just eat chicken (and fish. )This has caused a huge increase in the number of animals slaughtered as eating smaller animals means eating many more animals.
Furthermore, chickens are the most abused of all the animals we eat. They suffer beyond description.
Many well meaning advocates think that they are promoting veg eating by promoting how bad red meat is but in my opinion they are just increasing chicken consumption.
I have been an activist for decades and over the years many many people have told me that they don’t eat much meat. When I ask what they eat, it is always chicken.
I would like to see a lot more about the negatives of chicken. The latest PCRM magazine had a great article about how contaminated chicken is and I was very happy to see it, but I feel there is too little about chicken and too much about red meat.
Chickens make up about 98% of all land animals slaughtered, let’s give them the attention they deserve.
Wow, if only humans had Joel to tell them what to eat millions of years ago
I saw some vegan recipes and they were with oil.
1-Do the vegan people eat oil?
2what is your view on eating or not eating processed oils? I am not talking about whole raw nuts I am talking about just oils.
Pork, beef, salami, and other sausages, Eggs, and bacon. Avocados, Olives, Oranges, Bananas, Nuts, and lots of water. I have a salad now and then, and some Cheese, and some butter. I feel better and have resisted the cravings… Thanks, I appreciate the information
Sounds like CNN..seems to be an agenda behind this… especially the guy with the man bun…he definitely has low testosterone
Its awesome to post this as the keto folks are really really out there and folks are unaware of risks!
I like this Dr. I haven’t had red meat in years. Dr Mills is another Dr I respect. He talks about not consuming dairy.
Looking closely into the major clinical trials on subject, including the most recent ones, there is absolutely no way to conclude if red meat is bad or not.
You guys are killing plants!
Plants Lives Matter!!! Damn it!
Where do they come up with this rubbish? Been eating meat, and lots of it, all my life. Did a calcification score, and it is about….. zero. Ate a lot of wheat, and, lots of fat, belly fat, high blood pressure, etc. etc. So you stick to your diet, we’ll stick to ours.
I was diagnosed T2D in 1998 age 40. Went on Atkins right away (thank you Dr Westman). I have been a fat burner almost continuously since. It saved my future.
I watched this video and I felt this compelling urge to start consuming more red meat as part of my diet.
I’ve had 3 vegan friends die of heart failure under 50 years old. Is there a reason, IE inflammation, for their deaths or was it just fate?
vegetarism is a religion, all logic sense and common sense is gone
I love Dr Kahn and every other vegan dr. that truly cares about their patients❤️

9 Reasons Why Eating Meat Is Good For Health
https://www.authorityhealthmag.com/eating-meat-is-good-for-health
So inspiring and well spoken, he will change the lives of many along his journey. Excellent.
I’m vegan, but I don’t think “you might be allergic” is a good reason to go vegan. What a strange argument… who do you think that will convince?
All of your bones are going to crumble IE Joel Kahn, Christy Brinkley, Michelle Piffer.
Red meat is fine liberals are trying to tax you and so call save the planet.
Today the New York Times reported that the link between red meat consumption & cancer causation was tenuous at best.
Adam, hearing your story it seems we have a lot in common. I just want to hug you and tell you I’m proud of you. Stay strong!
Three reasons to eat meat.
my dad 90 year old and still alive
-my grandfather 94 years
-my great grandfather 96 years
All three where heavy meat eaters.
My two vegan friends never made it to fifty.
A friend of mine in Alabama who’s an identical twin got bit by that tick and now has that allergy he talked about. He used to eat red meat, but now he could die if he ate it because of the allergy. His twin brother doesn’t have the allergy.
what do african americans and native Africans at home have in common?? OUR MELANIN. compared to my brothers, in the diaspora, compare the health within the family. do u know why most of us are lactose intolerant??? cos 95% of u came from southern West africa(around the rain forest and coast lines). now ur ancestors did not have cows. they lived on african leaves, greens, starch, fruit etc. so zero red meat intake and milk.( meat and milk consumption occured more in northern africa and northern climes within west africa).so melanin popping african americans, please forsake the standard american diet and start eating the native african food. i repeat, we didnt eat cows(we ate bushmeats instead caught from traps), those closer to the atlantic ate more fish, minimum consumption of chicken(our native chickens, not these hormone chickens),.we ate more plant based food and less animal food, long before there was a word called veganism.
New reasons…because all the old reasons have been debunked.
Considering that insulin is anabolic, would it make sense that it’d be associated with weight gain? And would increasing the insulin in the body also lead to insulin resistance?
I realllllly wish we had purple sweet potatoes in South Africa! I wanna taste the “galaxy of magic”
I didn’t watch the video, I just came to say this is BS. Cheers
People are so addicted to meat, dairy and eggs they would take Prednisone so their tick induced allergy to meat would be bearable. Wouldn’t the be amazing if the entire planet become deathly allergic to meat? The planet would heal itself and virtually stop climate change and rain forest destruction in its tracks.
I respect Dr. Kahn and I am grateful for his dissemination of his knowledge but I do not think that he should pursue a career in comedy. It won’t work.
What I want to know is can the damage of those three be reversed.
Meat is a great source of: Neu5Gc, rBGH, heme iron, igf1/tmao/C-Reactive Protein promotion, parasites, AGEs, cholesterol, saturated fat, trans-fat, tumors, fecal matter, pus, chlorine, bacterial endotoxins, dioxins (and other Persistent Organic Pollutants), live Salmonellas, Escherichia coli, Shigella, Staphylococcus aureus, and Listeria monocytogenes, insulin spike inducement, antibiotics, growth hormones (estradiol-17β, progesterone, testosterone, zeranol, trenbolone, and melengestrol acetate (MGA) ), H5N1, Bovine spongiform encephalopathy, and alpha-gal… Yum! https://www.arthritis-cure.co.uk/rheumatoid-arthritis-reasons-why-you-should-avoid-meat-and-dairy/
I wish this was entitled “”The reasons not to eat “animals” & their bi products””………..””period””. How many people will eat chicken, after watching this?…..B/c people think chicken is “white” meat……smh
Just forwarded the link to my Dietatians in Bangkok. I follow a LC diet. Using Heads Up to track my vitals I see I am pretty much in line with what Dr Yancy describes. BTW: Many studies show BP & RHR drop because heart volume reduces on calories restricted diets so a reduction in Meds should be necessary. IMO de-prescribing Meds should become a primary objective in all treatment plans
……..and remember, Glucose competes with Vitamin C for absorption, so if you have chronically high blood sugar from a grain-based, carb-heavy diet, your absorption rates will be low. Eating healthy without overloading on the carbs allows blood sugar levels to stabilize, and maximizes Vitamin C absorption
Both Glucose and C have similar molecular structures. The higher the glucose the less vitamin C (ascorbic acid) can be absorbed. According the the Rath Foundation, a ground breaking study last year proving that cardiovascular disease is caused by a vitamin C deficiency (aka Chronic Scurvy, not to be confused with Acute Scurvy from the sailors of old).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0lEmXJD7p4
In April 2015, scientists at the Dr. Rath Research Institute in California published a groundbreaking study in the American Journal of Cardiovascular Disease proving that heart disease is an early form of the vitamin C deficiency disease scurvy. Building on a discovery made by Dr. Rath in the early 1990s, this publication deals a major blow to the cholesterol theory of heart disease and the pharmaceutical industry’s associated $30 billion annual sales in patented cholesterol-lowering statin drugs.
In the video below, recorded on 23 April 2015, John Cha, project leader for the study, discusses the research with Paul Anthony Taylor, Executive Director of the Dr. Rath Health Foundation.
Copies of the study can be downloaded for free from the website of the American Journal of Cardiovascular Disease: http://www.ajcd.us/files/ajcd0007056.pdf

Dr. Westman, thank you for posting this. How long does the LCHF diet take to reduce insulin levels? I’ve been on Keto since Feb. 28 and my insulin is still 104, fasting morning. I’m at <20 grams (5%), carb, 70% fat and 25% protein. I've lost 10 lbs since beginning which is a very low loss considering no carbs. I believe the increased insulin level is keeping me from losing at a faster pace. Any recommendations to bring insulin down?
Dr. William Li is a renowned MD scientist with over 100 papers published in major journals. In his recent book, Eat to Beat Disease, he recommends eating dark meat chicken for its Vitamin K2, which is good for the heart and supposed to remove calcium from the blood and arteries. Despite saying that saturated fat is bad, he also recommends eating 2 slices of cheese/day, for the same reason and also because cheese contains starter cultures which are beneficial for the gut.
The Golestan Dairy Food Intake Study was published in 2017 in the J. of Epidemiology. Was funded by the National Cancer Institute, the NIH, several universities and an international cancer research org. It followed 42,000 patients in a province in Iran. It found that dairy eaters had a significantly lower all cause mortality and a 28% lower mortality from cardiovascular disease. Significant benefits in terms of mortality were found from eating cheese and yogurt. There was no increase in cancer. Those in the highest 1/5 of dairy eaters saw the greatest benefits.
The PURE Study was published in the Lancet in Nov. 2018. It was a 5 continent, 21 country study of dairy intake with 136,000 participants. It also found lower all cause and cvd mortality from eating dairy.
Harvard data from the huge Physicians and Nurses Health Studies with about 200,000 participants also found significantly lower all cause mortality from eating dairy.
In a 2013 video on youtube, Dr. Greger says that vegans/vegetarians have the same all cause mortality as meat eaters, the same rate of heart disease, despite having lower cholesterol, the same rate of colon cancer and 300% more Alzheimer’s. When I saw this video recently, I decided against becoming a vegan or vegetarian, though I rarely eat red meat.
We have the alpha-gal red meat tick allergy here on the east coast of Australia too. I personally carry the antibody after being bitten by a tick 8 years ago. I’m kinda like Spiderman, except my super power is veganism and I’m literally saving the world with my dietary and lifestyle choices. Thanks you very much Paralysis Tick!
Love Dr. Kahn… very knowledgeable, personable. The case for a plant based diet just keeps getting stronger. Thanks for posting!
You could have just read the book by Joseph Kraft which came out 1214 years ago? Why can’t people learn from what others have already done? The other thing I can’t understand is why doctors say to fast 12hrs before testing blood sugar. It seems almost criminal to me. Patients go for years getting slowly worse and worse until one day their doctor says “yesterday you were fine but today your diabetic”. With proper testing doctors could begin addressing these issues years earlier.
Thank you for sharing this refreshingly non-rant info on the potential benefits of carb restricted diets for weight loss and diabetes.
As a T2D applying only dietary and lifestyle interventions LCHF, IF and resistance trainingwith mainly normal blood sugar readings and an HbA1c of 40 (UK metrics) I’m intrigued by your suggestion that complications could still occur, even if good blood sugar control is maintained.
I work as a dietitian and I commonly instruct diabetics to go on a whole-food plant-based, HCLF diet and the ones that follow the diet are usually cured of diabetes within 6 months.
The simple fact is, the only diet EVER shown to reverse heart disease, diabetes, even cancer, is a whole-food, plant-based diet. And I’m not talking “studies” I mean real practical application of the whole-food plant-based diet.
And yes Dr.Westman, I seriously distrust the research that says animal fat is good for you. I think you’re a charlatan who has a career based on people’s ignorance to the facts.
Dr. What would cause me,( mind you I still have my gallbladder), to not tolerate fats well??
No studies have in fact shown that eating red meat increases the risk of anything whatsoever. The description of this video is a total misrepresentation of the facts. I have debunked every argument presented in this excremental video over on my actually science based channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChi5M3k_K4yuRpWAp00xBQA, where I have a special playlist devoted to the lies, misrepresentations, and utter incompetence of Joel Kahn. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlcTJsvq1NCCY1qEnqUPF5avd1pnIPyCB
She is so anoying.ADHD full on.It’s hard not to notice that she would just kill him if she could.lol
Thank you for the updated information! I only knew about the tick/meat allergy link so the other info is valuable!
it amazes me with all the evidence people still will not let go of the believe that animal foods are NOT! bad for you
Wow I haven’t eaten meat in 6 year’s and I feel great my skin had I proved I look younger than 49 do he makes alot of sence our body’s aren’t designed for red meat
Funny how people complain of biased vegan researchers… Id be worried if they weren’t vegan after all the positive outcomes!
Shocking really that people are still stuffing their faces eating animals giving themselves cancer, heart attacks and diabetes.
Anyone who believes the snake oil in this video has my hearty appreciation because the more of you who stop eating meat means the more meat available for those who are smarter.
Consider this: If authorities wanted to ration the world’s meat supply what would they tell everyone?
1) Meat is the very best food for humans but there is not enough to go round amongst 7 billion people so please limit your personal consumption
Or
2) Beware, eating meat causes cancer & heart disease
There are good reasons to limit meat consumption. 1. Fibre 2. Deoxycholic acid 3. Ammonia products. 2&3 are poisonous the body seeks to rapidly get rid of through kidneys. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPxwULA5Kg4
Friends don’t let friends eat meat! Thanks for this one Chuck, Dr Kahn is awesome
This is the sort of presentation that my diabetic friends might just watch if I showed it to them. Thank you Dr Westman and LCDU for sharing it.
My vet told me alcohol on the skin helps rise the vein….is that only veterinary medicine? That doesn’t make sense to me.
Yes, I agree. You did not mention how horrible the food is in hospitals (I know too well how horrible the food is by being there every years for about 6 years with CHF attacks), and elderly and trauma medical care centers HORRIBLE! I went to the Healing America Rally in Durham NC, sponsored by Dr. Neal Campbell, and I am soooo ready to go into these facilities and talk to them. I am praying for change there too.
We donot eat beef and meat. Indians make lovely green vegetables with traditional Indian receipe
I rarely eat red meat, but I am not sure that TMAO in red meat has been proven harmful. Maybe it’s excreted in the urine.
I not only want to be a Brain Warrior, but also to be a genius. Thanks Max! ❤️ Happy Hearts Day All!
He’s the Charlie Sheen of Cardiology…… Tiger blood….. Winning!
Too many doctors ignore the obvious and do what the diabetes association says to do. Whe I first started with diabetes I was told eat carbs and adjust with insulin. So very wrong then but they are still telling people the wrong things.
I started eating healthier and have less period flow monthly, what’s the reason for this
Hi mate! Great content! Have you looked into using SMZeus to help grow your channel?
I cannot watch your show for 57 minutes. That is too long. Sorry.
