How to make Roasted Tomato and Fennel soup || IHM Atk Menu ||

Drizzle 1 tablespoon olive oil over the fennel, tomatoes and garlic and sprinkle some salt. Roast the fennel and tomatoes in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes until you notice.Directions Step 1 Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook and stir fennel, onion, celery, and garlic in the Step 2 Pour tomatoes and chicken broth over vegetable mixture and simmer for 4 minutes.
Remove saucepan from heat and Step 3 Pour soup into a blender.Preheat oven to 425 F. Toss the fennel and onion with two tablespoons of oil and a pinch of salt on a baking sheet and roast for 30 minutes, or until tender. Add the remaining tablespoon of oil.1. Heat oil in soup pot over medium heat. 2. Add fennel, and sauté 3 to 5 minutes.
3. Stir in sausages and fennel seeds, and cook 5 to 7 minutes, or until fennel seeds are.Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook and stir fennel, onion, celery and garlic in the hot oil until softened, about 10 minutes. Pour tomatoes and chicken stock over vegetable mixture and simmer for 4 minutes.
Remove saucepan from heat and add basil and parsley.Adjust oven temperature to broil and position rack 6 inches from heat. Brush toasts with fennel-seed butter and top with Brie. Return to oven and broil until bubbly and golden, 1 to 3 minutes.
Instructions. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Roast: Using a large rimmed baking sheets lined with parchment paper or silpat, place potatoes, fennel & onion.. Add a light drizzle of and toss vegetables until evenly coated, spread evenly on the sheet.
Add a sprinkle of salt & pepper over top.Very easy, quick, and tasty soup. I made a lot of changes,but I’m giving it 5 stars for the proportions and idea of using V8 as a base. I sauteed an onion, some celery, carrots and garlic in olive oil, then added the liquids as stated.In 4-quart saucepan, heat oil over medium heat.
Cook fennel, onion and garlic in oil about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until crisp-tender. Stir in tomatoe.This Roasted Tomato & Fennel soup will keep in the fridge for 3-4 days or you can freeze it for up to 3 months. Make sure you don’t overfill your containers/bags when freezing soup as it will expand slightly in the freezer. How to make Roasted Tomato & Fennel Soup Recipe – Step-By-Step.
Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas Mark 4.Arrange fennel and onion in a single layer on a jelly-roll pan coated with cooking spray; toss to coat. Bake at 425° for 25 minutes, stirring after 15 minutes. Add chickpeas to vegetable mixture. Bake an additional 20 minutes or until fennel is tender and.
Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium-low heat. Add the fennel and leeks and season with 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and the red pepper flakes. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the.Directions. In a large saucepan, saute onion and fennel in oil until tender.
Add the broth, beans, tomatoes, thyme, pepper and bay leaf; bring to a boil.Season the onions and fennel with a little salt and pepper. Place both baking sheets in the oven and bake until the vegetables are softened and beginning to brown.
The tomatoes will take about 40 minutes and the onions and fennel may take up to an hour. Place the vegetables into a food processor and pulse until you have a thick chunky mixture.Fry the fennel, leek and garlic and cook over low heat for about 10 minutes.
Add the water and crumble the bouillón tablets above it. Let the soup boil gently for about 15 minutes.

Man I love this channel. Another great video dude! I’m making this and some grill cheese this weekend for sure.
I made home made tomato soup today… I didn’t make this… I just started with Roma tomatoes that came from my garden.. I sautéed them with a touch of garlic and onion…then I puréed the tomatoes then put them thought a strainer to get the seeds out…. pinch of sugar salt and black pepper…then I added fresh basil that also came from my garden…. I took some heavy cream and whipped it just to give it some body added it to the soup… best soup I ever made.. took less then 20 minutes to cook it… I am gonna try this way next chef Gordon….thanks… I think I like the idea of roasting the tomatoes and getting that color on the tomatoes…
I made this to the best of my ability last night! The soup was amazing! My favorite part was the sun-dried tomato pesto. I don’t really like sun-dried tomatoes but this was wonderful.

If it was me I would switch out some items. I’d replace those tomatoes with beefsteak tomatoes, and replace those onions with white onions, and replace the dijon mustard with chardonnay mustard.

Coring fennel is more tradition than necessity.
I did it too for about 38 years, because my grandma did it and my mom did it, but then I saw Carla from ba suggesting just cleaning up the dried up bit from where the bulb was cut from its root and to just leave the core in. And, you know what? -it’s perfectly fine to leave the core in. Both texture and taste-wise.

My first experience with tomato-basil soup was at a great local restaurant in San Mateo, California (on 4th, I think, near the El Camino Real). It was delicious, as I can tell yours is as well. I like the way you cook. I live in the Philippines and tomato soup comes in a can. No one here makes it because tomatoes are “sour” for Filipinos and they prefer to have sugar in everything, including spaghetti sauce! If I had a kitchen just half the size of yours, I’d be making lots of my own Mediterranean dishes, following your recipes and methods. Real enjoyed you video!

Easy and so tasty! Pho-inspired variation: I like to put the spinach in individual bowls, and serve the soup on top of it. It’s a little prettier, and a bit like a soup-and-salad meal.
My tomatoes will be ripe in June, can’t wait to try this one.
One advice! Don.t put the garlic from the begining, specialy when it.s choped, it will be burned or very bitter in 10 minutes in the pan! Put it on the pan 2 minutes before you add the tomato juice! Very good recipe!

Just HAD to comment on this. So I went to the farmers market last week and saw some fennel. It was at about 6.30am so when I stopped by the supermarket I was able to pick up some freshly baked poppy buns too. Took them home and decided to make this. It was absolutely fantastic! Honestly maybe it was just that I personally got the spices just right, but man was it delicious. The fennel especially took away that slightly sour taste that tomatoes tend to give off. Highly recommended!

Tip for those who are vegan. You can top it with cashew or coconut cream.
i bought some roma from the store but when i blended it the color was very light, whitish pink…no beautiful deep robust red.:( i had to added tomatoe paste in order to get my soup red…thanks.:)

I would have let the tomatoes and fennels roast for an additional 10-15 mins to let them rreallyy caramelize and get more flavorful, i think that would have really brought more compelxity to the soup but hey thats just me. Great vid!
What about just doing a dollop of Greek yogurt or coconut milk to keep it vegan? You get that same cooling effect you mentioned as well.

When taking the photo at the end if you use a higher fstop to black out the thing you are shooting you do not have to turn off the lights. It will not affect the color temypature of the image.

I love fennel. I even got heirloom tomatoes from a grocery store once. I saved some of the seeds and planted them. I got a big harvest of tomatoes from very tall plants. I’m originally from a large farm and love tomatoes. That soup looks great.
This is really cool! It tastes really good! But the only thing is that the heating the tomatoes is a little hard. I saw another video and they used only 3 ingredients. It tasted as good! But still, i love this dish!

yup here I am, five years later and still made it tonight for dinner. This time I had two small leeks that I just threw in there as well. It truly is one of my all-time favorite soups. I really do love adding a nice dollop of plain greek yogurt on top with a slab of fresh bread.:)
The hardest part for me could very well be not eating those roasted vegetables right out of the oven! Man, my mouth is watering watching this.

It was tasty, I did it but unfortunately i didn’t had fresh basil so I used dry and then i used squeezed lemon instead of lime, but it was great. Will definitely do it again.

Like 60. I’m very fond of tomato soup and I think with the roasted vegetables this soup tastes superb. I would add some more broth because I like my soup a little less thick but that’s a matter of taste. I surely gonna try this one

I wish i could post a pic to show. I did this soup twice and it is awesome every time! Instead of dairy cream, i blend a handful of cashews with a bit of water which makes excellent cream replacement. It is a recipe that i added in my staples list
