I had Achilles tendon repair..2 years ago..now I am having a pain from upper joints of foot… please reply..why is this happening
I have been suffering from polio and my right hand and right leg.what I can do it
I went through the surgery… I have this dizziness sometimes while exercising or post exercise… any Suggestions on how I could control it. Thanks.
Could poor circulation affect recovery? I have ongoing tendonitis in both ankles. I was told several years ago that I had poor circulation in my legs, but my doctors wouldn’t recommend any treatment other than to quit running. I would like to keep running, but no matter how much I do these stretches the pain does not go away. The only thing that works is inactivity which unfortunately leads to weight gain and other health issues.
I have a clicking sound when I run coming from my Achilles heel. I often get a soar heel. The clicking itself not painful. I did have a strained ankle years ago. Any thoughts?
Thanks for the tips, much appreciated! Really need this! BTW, where’s the link to that blue stretchy band you use?? Would like one and need it!!
Will these exercises help to prevent an Achilles injury? I want to strengthen mine so to prevent it from happening. Great video btw, thank you for that.
Thanks caroline!!! I’ll do this routine later!! just so happens I DO have Yoga toes at home (rare for me cos I’m in Singapore and we don’t have the same products you do). Bought them off Amazon months ago and didn’t think they worked much but now I have an exercise to do with it! I’m also in rehab and return to activity phase for sesamoiditis and fracture so this is PER.FECT ❄ Have a lovely and a wonderful new year Caroline!!
Wow, this is GREAT! Some are the same as my physical therapist gave me, but it is more fun to do them with you! The push off is new, and terrific just what I need, also the toe wiggles. I had a bilateral ankle break and surgery bolts and plates, etc.My foot felt like a lump of concrete when I got out of the cast and then boot. Now I can do everything in this video except one thing stand on the ball of the hurt foot. Maybe next week… THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
i have a bone spur in one foot. will these exercises help it? i refuse to do surgery. i have always believed in exercising.
I just discovered that I have foot drop after a week. I just suddenly couldn’t move my toes or my foot up I can bend them downwards but no way upwards. And I have slight numbness on the outter skin. I can still feel my foot. Is this really a nerve damge? As it just happened to me suddenly last week and I haven’t damaged my leg or so. And I can’t see a doctor because of the Corona Viruse quarantine. Any explanation guys?:(
How long does a foot take to heal. My foot was run over by a car. It didnt break thankfully but ive waited 5 days to be able to stand maybe a minute with my crutches or take 4 steps before i retreat to the safety of the bed where i get stuck
Very nice and clear. Any exercises for Plantar Fasciitis Thanks very much.
Dr.Jo do you do the exercise with or without the boot..am wearing a boot..achilles tendon rupture
My couch potato self couldn’t handle suddenly pickup skateboarding. No falls, just pushing too much every day for about a week and got inflamed tendons and ligaments. Definitely need to build up foot strength, and this seems about right.
I’ve also heard about doing this raises on an elevated surface with the toes hanging off so it will strengthen the calf muscles and help take off load from your tendons, have you heard about that? Just curious. Thanks!
Hi doctor
I’m from jammu and Kashmir India
I fall from a height of about twenty feet by foot۔
That results a critical fracture in my right foot heel //or you can call it calcaneal fracture//
On seventh of may two thousand eighteen
// 17/05/2018//
Now I’m feeling pain while walking very accute pain below my ankle
Good evening,
I had a seemingly successful tendon rupture repair in mid December. I followed instructions to a T, and eventually came out of the walking boot, at about week 10 post-op.
Once I came out of the boot, I realized that I was experiencing pain at the ankle. While I was in the walking boot, I just associated that pain as normal weakness to the general area in light of my rupture repair.
My PT and surgeon and I all thought this was posterior tibial tendonitis. I have very localized pain in one spot right around where the tendon runs around the ankle. This area is very tender and sensitive, and it is seemingly right on the edge of the malleolus. It is also preventing me from doing most of my Achilles strengthening and stretching therapy effectively.
I have seen my surgeon and his PA on this twice since I discovered this discomfort. Again, the thought was that it is tendinitis. But I have also received and x-ray to rule out a fracture. No fracture was found. So, He gave me a cortisone injection, noting that it may be an aggravated nerve. This injection was 6 days ago, with seemingly no effect. After that injection, I read up from multiple surgeons and studies that do NOT recommend cortisone injections for these types of tendonitis. So that got me a little concerned as well.
So, I am now seeking outside advice. I am having a very hard time diagnosing this issue. My ankle is very stiff. I can’t into deep dorsiflexion, and it’s not my Achilles because I can barely feel a stretch there. I also have difficulty with foot inversion with discomfort kicking in, especially with any resistance applied.
I have a hard time knowing what tendinitis in this area should feel like. To me, it feels like something wants to snap in half when I dorsiflex. Is this sensation tendonitis? I don’t quite remember this sensation while experiencing tendinitis in my elbow joints…So, I think possibly something is wrong in the ankle joint. That, or a tendon or ligament got put out of alignment during my surgery.
This is a lot of information. I trust my surgeon, but I don’t know what is happening, and I want to stay on top of this Achilles rehab and whatever else this is going on.
Suggestions? Should I request an MRI? Does this really sound like tendinitis, or something else?
Thank you!
Thanks doc jo… may i ask is this good for a person who has leg anthropy? I notice my daughter leg is getting thinner. We consult some doc and theraphist already for a year now but still no improvement in the size of her leg. Irely on the youtube some exercise in leg antrophy. I found your channel… pls help some exercise good for leg antropy. Many thanks again more power.
Do you have to do these with resistance bands? I dont have one.
i get dead cells on my feet too soon, what can i do for it? please suggest something that is easy to do daily. thanks
hi i’m suffering from foot drop. can you just tell how long will it take to get recovered?
Thank you so much Caroline!
I had teared my extensors tendons of my feet, and this exercises had helped.
I loved this! I did 20 minutes of cardio and then this video. It felt great. My favorite stretches were anything involving sides and hamstrings. Also, i have some hand and wrist pain so I liked learning the forearm and finger stretches. Thank you!
Absolutely loved this one. Mobility/stretch/flexibility are so important and this was a fantastic flow. Thanks so much, Kat!
i’ve been searching this for a long time but nothing like this in spanish, i feel really thankful.
I had an Achilles’ tendon surgery almost 7 weeks ago. I finally removed the cast and started my rehabilitations. Can I start doing the stretches in your video now?
I notice a lot of people keep on talking about Custokebon Secrets (do a search on google). But I’m uncertain if it’s good. Have you ever tried this popular diet plan?
Love this stretching video! I feel taller now, haha. Rawwrrr! Would you possible make a foam rolling video? I have a foam roller but never use it because I feel like I don’t know what to do with it but people tell me how beneficial it is for me…
I started running about a month and a half ago, suddenly I started developing this lump in my Achilles tendon which was painful after my runs and would hurt if squashed. I stopped running about a week ago and it’s now painless. Can I return to running at least twice a week?
so I know a lot about workouts. just by using Unflexal guide:)
When would you recommend you start the exercises? I’m on week 6 post op.
Hi, doc. You recommend icing after stretching? Heating it? I been dealing with some minor to moderate pain on my left Achilles .
These videos have been so helpful to bring movement back into my recovery feet. Thank you so much!
Really damaged my achilles about 12 weeks ago, thought I’d give it a month then if no better I’d see a physio, then lockdown happened. Since then I’ve been in agony, tried everything and anything, and then found this video. Done the calf stretch for 2 days now and can’t believe the improvement, the pain’s gone and so has the limp, so thank you very much. Nigel
I rolled my ankle about a month and a half ago landing a sidekick in Taekwondo. I went to the doctor, took and xray and he told me to let it rest a few days and I’m good to go. I kept training with quite a bit of pain. It has gotten better but there is still pain in my ankle when I lift my foot up and pain in my Achilles tendon when I do a calf raise or straighten my foot. Would these exercises benefit me? Or do I need to go and see the doctor again?
Thank you so much I loved this routine and will do it daily the first day was hard but then it got easy and my ankle recovered quickly thanks soooo much Caroline this is the best
Thanks for making this video. I am ten weeks post Achilles rupture which was managed conservatively without surgery. Wish me luck. I really need to get back out on the golf course.
Thank you for such great routines! I have mild bunions and am working to correct these as well as build my arches. Do you have a routine specifically for bunions? I’d love such a video from you!
Thank you for that, Im nearly 53 and have fibromyalgia, dr recommend walking and after a month of walks have developed pain in ankle tendons. I can feel some relief already from your exercises.
dr Jo, can the peroneal rehab be used for Achilles also or is this totally different? I notice for Achilles there are fewer rehab exercises. thx, eddie
Will this prevent me from having to wear a heel lift for a long period of time? I had to have surgery, and I’m almost certain I’ll have to wear a heel lift after I come out the cam boot.
Check out my store and help out a fellow MS’r since 2015. Thank you! https://www.redbubble.com/i/tote-bag/Multiple-Sclerosis-Awareness-Ribbon-by-Austin02/44360580.PJQVX

hallo Doctor, i had a surgery on my achilles, is it better to stretch first for a couple of weeks and then do the strenghtning as shown on your video? or that doesnt matter at all?
thank you.
Hello Dr Jo
I underwent Achilles tendon surgery for past one month
now for the recovery the leg was twisted obtuse angle..which physiotherapy exercise should I undergo so that my leg to go back on normal..so that I may walk again…
awaiting your response kindly
who in their right mind edits sudden zoom-ins on a video for people that suffer from vertigo?
I’m a little late to the party, but I just did this….Thanks Kat! It was amazing!!
I suffered from PF at the start of this year. The stabbing pains in the morning are gone. But I still get dull aches in my feet. I am going to try some of these strengthening exercises to see if they help me. Thankyou so much for this video! The best I have seen! If I am successful and I am pain free I will let you know! Watching your video has given me hope. I am excited to feel like myself again.
I fully ruptured my AT playing tennis about 15wks ago. After my non-surgical (conservative) treatment my physiotherapist also gave me these exercises Dr Jo beautifully demonstrates. The towel pull (I used wrapped towel) seems to be most effective in my healing mainly because my ankle was so swollen, stiff and painful after 8wks in an airboot. I can now finally walk without a limp & pain, although still hurts achilles if I walk too fast and when its towards end of working week. Recommend that anyone with same injury speaks to physiotherapist if possible. I require tissue work (massage) on my achilles which grew back (bridged) as a lump near inside of leg/ankle quite common apparently with conservative healing. Gradual exercise over a good length time seems to be best advice. Anyone with a AT rupture stay positive and take your time with your rehab. Good post Dr Jo!

Thank you, Jeff! I’m a huge and find your exercise instruction thorough and inspiring. A+++
lol i have time to watch this but i know im not gonna have time to do it
Carolinedid you initially have any pain/soreness on the bottom of your feet when you were getting back into it? How did you restart to do things like planks and lunges?
I have a short achillies and poor ankle dorsiflexion. Would these help?
I imagine the dislikes on this video are do to people like myself who have foot drop due to stroke which is much more common. Then MS, no offense to people with Ms but foot drop is very common among stroke victims. Stroke is much more common then MS. If you are experiencing Paralysis on one side of your body you may not be able to lift or rotate the foot like they said. I’m 3 years in my stroke recovery. Yet I cannot do the first exercises in this video. However I have found a way to lift my foot. By putting my leg with the foot drop over my good leg then holding it down and acting like I’m going to lift the leg will cause your foot to lift. These videos really need to find out who is the most affected by these issues and what they can and cannot do. Before they make these videos. Since the number one disabled or in the world is stroke. You would think they would keep that in mind more often.
Thank you I don’t know if I rupture my Achilles or not but I did get injured and hopefully these exercises will tell me more only time will tell
Definitely looking forward to trying this. This will help with my back problems (surgery) and also help me before golfing you are awesome kat
I hit my toe when I was running and I can barely walk or move if I do this exercise….i better prepared myself for the pain I’ll be feeling
Fantastic! I’ll need this when I get done with the week of deck rebuilding for a relative.:)
And again thanks for this amazing exercise routine. I’m doing it everyday and my feet already feel soooo much better! Super burning sensations that I love and show me that my body is happily alive! You are an amazing instructor!:)
Do u know what is foot drop… Better learn what is foot drop
…..then teach others….
I’m suffering from Guillan-Barré Syndrome from more than 2 years. I’m able to walk but dropped foot has no activity at all. No matter how much I try, if doesn’t lifts up.. I’m trying it from long long time but no improvement. But still I’m positive and trying my best in a hope that I can kick in some activity. My calf muscle has developed pretty well with time, thighs are hollow from sides but there is a muscle bulk, hamstrings are fair, Quadriceps are fair, gluts are fair as well.. so What I must work on first to kick some activity in feet? I’m able to push ankle but not able to pull it towards myself, my toes are immobile, no activity in any fingers at all. Pls guide me
With a non-surgical Rupture. My injury snapped away from the calf muscle. How long would you think that I’m free from rerupure and don’t have worry, to do sports?
I have an achilles tendon rupture and the physio said to NOT stretch the calf. It will make it worse.
I have transverse myelitis. After 16 months, I can finally walk but need a cane in case of losing balance. My left leg is smaller than my right leg. I can’t lift my left foot (only the fingers) so when I walk, the first that I can put down is the front one instead of the ankle and there’s still numbness on it. My left leg is also weaker and still stiff despite doing physical therapy 3x a week and doing some exercises at home when I don’t have schedule for therapy. Is this exercise effective in my case?
Just sent a message to my ortho asking if everything my foot is saying to me is normal or not as I try to wean off my boot. It is a little bit HARD to know what is pain (meaning stop what you are doing right now) and what is discomfort (things waking up that haven’t been used in a while). I appreciate hearing your experience with this!
I’m week 5 in recovery non-surgical! I was told not to put any pressure on the foot as it’s in a boot! are these excercises safe to do? I’m afraid of rerupture
Dalam bahasa Indonesia nya tidak ad ya,karena saya kena drop foot jg
Thanks for the video. I’m 15 weeks out from achilles repair surgery and am doing the same or similar stretches. No excessive pain while stretching however I do have sharp pain on the bottom of my heel and outer edge of my foot when weight bearing / walking. Is that pain common? Any advice on treatment?
I had surgery when I was 3 nine years later I’m stiff as a rock thx so much for the info
I can’t understand the website that he gives for the strap, because he is talking so fast! I have very good hearing!
Hi.Doctor jo.10th May 2017 my Achilles tendon ruptured now I can not move it upward as before it.plz tell me what I do.I taken surgery treatment.my old is 22
I hope if I can get a little bit of your beauty! u r just like an angel!
Thank you for this video. My feet feel so much better! I’m gonna do it every day!
I frayed my Achilles tendon 23 years ago. I didn’t need surgery but the specialist told me never to go on my toes ever. So, I followed his advice. As a result, if I ever do go on my toes, my calf muscle tightens up terribly. I’ve torn them a couple of times too. Would doing your exercises particularly the ankle raise with very slowly lowering yourself help me after all these years? Or did I wait too long to strengthen my muscle?
Hi everyone!
When we made this video at the start of MS Workouts, we had no idea we’d get so many views or that MS Workouts would get as big as it has. We’d like to take this opportunity to address some frequently asked questions regarding these foot drop exercises:
1). What if I can’t lift my toes or foot up?
That’s okay, perform the exercise in the range-of-motion that is available to you. Even if you don’t see any movement, try to consciously flex and actively push the foot to the best of your ability. Starting somewhere is better than not starting at all.
2). What if I fully exhaust the muscles after just 15 seconds (I wasn’t even using a resistance band)?
That’s actually a good thing. In strength training, “failure = success”. The goal is to overload the targeted muscles. You did that. So the advice would be to keep rocking! Attempt to push a little further each time you perform the exercise.
3). The Heel Raise (2nd exercise) doesn’t address foot drop, why is it in this video?
This video, as well as our Foot Drop Series in our membership program, follows a comprehensive approach toward recovering strength and mobility. We not only want to target the muscles directly attributing to the symptom, but also the ones that are indirectly involved as well. In this case, we are not just focusing solely on the anterior tibialis. Although it is the main focus of our foot drop exercises, we don’t want to ignore other muscles of the lower limb that are used while walking, that contribute to better gait, and that help you better deal with having foot drop in the first place. Muscles work together during locomotion.
Thank you everyone for your questions, comments, and support! We are so thrilled to be able to help each and every one of you during your journey to recovering strength. If you’re interested in more free exercises, sign up for the 7-Day Strength Camp at http://www.msworkouts.com/strengthcamp.

Great and easy exercise for Achilles tendon. It’s very effective. Thanks for making video.
Needed this so much. Went really hard the last four days and my body is feeling it. Feel so much better afterwards. Thanks, Kat. Good job!
I do the exercise even if it hurts because if I don’t do the exercise it’ll hurt anyway lala
Ive been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease had three referral for surgery last year still no relief in sight iv got drop foot gait in both legs. Its gotten so bad I have a little movement in.my feet. I try to Exercise my feet seem like I do more damage to my body
Thanks for this video. I am going to try doing it daily and see what happens. I have had unexplained foot/ankle pain for 2.5 years in my left foot. I have had all the tests—X-rays, EMG, MRI. Have been in a boot, brace, have used orthotics for 5 years due to needing arch support. I have tried chiropractic and acupuncture. I do have yoga toes and they do help some. I came across your “hurt foot” series over a year ago, and I’m glad to have some exercise to do when the pain is bad.
I hurt the Achilles 9 months ago, swelling is 90% gone now and just started doing rehab one month ago. Is this a very unusual timeframe or common.?
Ma cousin have foot drop from past 30 yrs his lower legs have problem.one leg is thick nd another is thin.bcoz of accident he got injury in brain. How to remove foot drop nd his lower legs equal
New follower looking for some help with my recovery from major foot surgery 6 months ago working on getting out of the boot but needed some more exercise to strengthen. My physical therapy are not much help not aggressive enough per the surgeon. I’m going to add these exercise tips of yours.
Thank you so much for taking the time to make these fantastic and very important videos.
Man, I wish the physical therapist would’ve given me some of your exercises for my bunion surgery therapy. Lifting up on the ball of my foot has been impossible! Hoping these help me…
I was told by every neuro that nothing could be done for foot drop. Typical response from doctors. Thanks for this video!
In 5th grade i tore my achilles and ever since then my left ankle hasnt been able to be put in a 90 degree angle (very contracted) and it makes walking quite hard.
So amazing! I felt this stretch combined a great amount of challenge while also improving my flexibility. Thank you for creating this video!
Hi Dr. Jo I believe I tore my achilles. Went in to have it checked and x-ray.. no rupture and doctor said that it was only a sprain?..I was given a walking boot and have been using that since. It’s been about 6 weeks since injury. I already know that some of the exercises in the video I may not be able to do. Would you recommend me doing some of these excercises or wait longer to start?
Thank you, thank you. The pain on top of my foot is 80% gone. I will sleep so much better.
Nice Very well Exercise appreciate also, God bless you, I am from Pakistan…
After hit by a car accident, my left ankle unable to move. I went to physiotherapy but nothing change. Please let me know what can I do to be able to walk again. I’m tired and stressed.
This was mega lovely, actually laughed out loud when you said that opening the hips can open up your emotions and make you cry. I used to practice yoga more and I always at the end of the session shed a few tears Namaste, Kat
Just watched several of your videos: very informative, good exercises, thank you and keep up the great work you’re doing!:-)
However, I’m just concerned about the fact that you haven’t pointed out to focus on rising with weight between first and second toe, especially as it is recurrent that you yourself rise with lots of weight on your small toes (probably because of your joint mobility).
Perfect class to end the day, Kat!!! A balanced body must be, (in my opinion) flexible, strong, tonned and healthy, no mater the body shape. Thanks a lot!!
I don’t know. I’ve been doing these type of strengthening exercises for over 2 years. Once you hurt your foot, no amount of strengthening will ever get it back to the way it was. That’s been my experience
I just had to finally admit it and learn to live with it
Thanks for this. I dont really know if there is a rupture or anything. Just whenever I’ve been plying basketball lately (usually 1 1/2 2 hours) my Achilles tendons get really sore nearly to the point of hurting afterwards. Usually goes away within a couple days. Just wanted to find something that might help me better prepare for playing so I dont have to be so sore and hurting afterwards. I’m 30 btw.
My tip is to have an eyebrow knife and shave hard skin off heels and toes
Hey, Thank you for the video, can you please tell us how many times per week you do this routine?
Good tips but jeezus “talk to your feet and tell them they’re doing a good job” right OK….. Americans can be so cheesy or “corny”. No pun intended
Thanks! For helping all of us with the challenges we in the MS community deal with ever day. I have had MS for over 35 years and work every day to get better and stay out of a wheel chair and really appreciate your help and advice!
Subscribe u don’t know why…
Maybe because of ur cute dimple…
Hey Doc, what is the progression, to return to running for a person who is able to power walk without pain? Also, what is your opinion on doing eccentric straight leg and bent leg heel drops together?
dear dr. I got achilles tendor rupture two weak ago from calcaneus total tear I m 51 years old ortho suggest surgery should I go for this?
Great video. I think those recovering from achilles tendon rupture like myself can benefit as well Thanks
Are these 3 plus, also good for interior rupture of Achilles….. seem like they are more for exterior? Thank you in advance Dr Jo…..
Second stretch is what injured me. I was pushing my moms car into the garage. The initial push off is what did it.
Hi, i have lower calf pain due to high heels. But before that i guess i overstretched my calves. Pls tell me wat to do? How to get it diagnosed??
Thank you for making this video! It’s great for feeling more grounded when you dance, as well as for improving balance in yoga. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for this contribution to helping people like me. I appreciate you and wish you much Peace and Blessings!
I am unable to lift my foot up because I have been dealing with foot drop for almost a year now my right foot just wants to lay to the right.I’m trying to do whatever I can to get better. Do you have any tips for me?
Hello, this video is very helpful. I am suffering from Foot drop. It was a acute pain in the right hip region which was followed by acute foot drop. Doctor diagnosed it as “Acute Polyneuropathy”, I have done with my MRI that is completely normal and Nerve Conduction Test in which doctor told me to continue with physiotherapy and medicine for 3 week. I am unable to move my feet upward. Please suggest me something how I can be fit fast. If you need I can mail you my medical documents. Waiting for your response. Thanks
She is so cool and WishtrendTV is so cool! Thank you for this channel
Hi, Caroline! I’m a first time viewer and love your foot exercises. Can these exercises help with Hallux Rigidus pain and stiffness?
The heel lift exercise you are showing for foot drop works the gastrocnemius It will do NOTHING for foot drop. Foot drop is caused by weakness or damage of the anterior tibialis muscle which lifts / dorsiflexes the forefoot. A forefoot raising exercise, with the heel firmly planted on the ground, may improve foot drop. This is the exact opposite of the exercise you are promoting.
Hi Jo,
I know it’s a old video and you may not reply but I’d be grateful if you could. I ruptured my heel coming up to week 11. I was in the cast a week longer because I had to self isolate for coronavirus. I’ve had no help since cast was removed due to the virus and will not be getting any physio and having to rely on these videos which I am grateful.
I’ve just started to do static calf stretches and scared incase it ruptures again. Do you know if it’s still possible for it to rerupture? It’s very tight and when I measure from the wall to my knee its 13cm. I dont think I’m makin good progress and dont want to have a limp the rest of my life. Thank you
Thank you so much for this awesome routine kat! I love how you mix all these moves from different stretching styles together! Really appreciated the focus on hands and wrists as I find my self neglecting to stretch them! Many thanks and Rawrs!! <3
I had serious trouble with my anterior tibialis and also for the ankle stabilizing,,,i worked out in gym for a month and my calf is much more stable and powerful but yet,,if i stand on one foot,,my ankle starts shakng from left to right and i have to constantly use balance to stay on that,,seems the coordination there is weakened by my ms attack,,, so plz tell me if there are any workouts for ankle stablizing,,,
AskDoctorJo Hello. From yesterday I’m in normal shoes (without wedges) still limping a lot. I have a question this morning I noticed that my ankle is very swollen. Is that normal? I dont have a pain, but I was walking quite a lot yesterday. I’m equally 6 weeks post operation
Yea I fell from my electric skateboard like 3 months ago and still have reasonable pain in my foot.. some joint tears maybe.. horrible. Trying everything now to get the strenght back and get the pain to go away. Hope this helps. After three months I am still unable to even fast pace walk without pain.
Should someone exercise for time or reps? What’s a good length for either?
Hi doc
I had an ankle discolation how should i get back this to normal cause my joint line hurts while foimg this stretching.. Pls advice
Hello doc i had a surgery 3weeks ago. Any advice that can help my fast recovery.?pls reply ty
Hi doctor jo, I got pain in muscle which is backside of the hill but not in tendon. Its like both side of the tendon just little up from the hill. It has happened while running then I took rest for 5 days but still I did not get well. Could you tell me if I do these exercise how long will it take to get well.
Thank you very much, I have a question about my surgery. After my 2nd and 3 rd extensor digitorum brevis tendons rupture operation. Can I kick sandbag or any kickboxing competition, I am wondering can I kick with the fixed tendons area anymore.
Hello Doctor, I had an achille tendon break on my right foot while playing basketball. It’s been a month. when I move with the crutches i put my tiptoe injured on ground while paying attention.. Because crutches are old, i am too heavy for moving without putting that foot on the ground and the plaster is damaged because of that, i removed it. So:
1) I would like to know if it will have consequences that i walk putting on the ground tiptoe achille tendon repaired..?
2) I also would like to know if i will be able to walk correctly as before because I can not bend my foot at 90 degree at this moment..?
Thank you Doctor..!!!
Hi. I was diagnosed with CODP and also experiences the same as with Foot drop. I have been in hell for like 2 years now. Problem is, I still need to go to work
Hey Dr jo, I had my surgery 2 weeks ago & yesterday my doctor took my splint off and put me in a boot and told me to do weight bearing on it. Is it possible to massage my achilles and calve?
Hi doctor Jo,thank you so much for the video. You’re a blessing to the world.
After the exercises I felt a bit sore but after a while, the soreness left.
I want to know how many times I need to do it in a week.
I also want to know when I can begin to play soccer again?

This video is exactly what I needed. I was in a boot for four months and I want my foot back!! Thank you
Hello. Maybe I will ask you more relevant question to your knowledge. Can you advice me how to improve tension of my affected tendon. My calf muscle is totally deflated and there is no power to raise up with one leg. I’m doing both legs calf raises excercises but it doesn’t help a lot. With one leg it is not possible to stand. I’m 2 months post operation. Before injury my calf muscles have been really strong, big and well exposed. Thanks. Tomasz
Just what was needed after a heavy weights session, thanks so much. I’ll use this on my rest days too, love a stretch workout.
I love how you talked to me as if I am mentally disabled. I will now subscribe and smash that bell button.
The ankle aversion really hurts at the front where my ankle/shin meets my foot. Is this normal? It’s like the joint is locked, this is why I have trouble flexing my foot up.
Great explanation, especially with the first calf stretch as I wasn’t sure how to do this correctly. Many thanks!
I watched it! And the upper back stuff is exactly what I need to implement in my daily life because I’m getting old af!
I will have to say this was one of the best videos I’ve ever seen on YouTube you have such beautiful photos work out hope to see many more can you please do a close-up Work out with the spread those toe spreaders
Thank you so much for this! I was very pleased with myself for getting that lil toe rollup move, so now I feel more stretchy and also slightly smug, so truly what more could I ask for?
BUT SERIOUSLY thank you for real, I’m going to do this one at least once a week.
thank you Kat! I was looking for foot care method and i found your video! nice work!

Fantastic video! I love the ankle eversion exercise. I feel it already helped after a few days!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I’m going to try to do this everyday ❤️
Dunno if this is meant for guys but fuck it. Sounds good to me!
Hi. Very good video indeed. What I could use from this in my case? I’m 2 weeks post surgery ( complete tendon rupture). My foot is in boot with 3 of 5 heel lifts. When I took off boot my foot is not going to much moving range of my foot is very small. What would you recommend? I would like to mobilize it somehow. I have physio around 16th of April
If you have any difficulties performing these moves, please let me know in the comments. I’ll try my best to help you out! If you have questions about how to achieve specific body types, or are curious about more diet tips or other workout methods, please also leave us a comment!♀️
this is realy good for me because i acturly play netball and my meucail came out and the stretches are realy helping
I’ve had foot drop for 12 years. This first exercise around 2:15 onwards is IMPOSSIBLE to do. People with foot drop can’t dorsiflex (e.i. lifting ones toes). The 2nd exercise is doable.
So.. I cried through most of my exercises until you had your Oprah moment which I’m really grateful for because that really helped me calm down. It’s been 4 months since my surgery and I’m rehabilitating. This video was SO helpful thank you
I had an accident and broke my ankle tendon. After i had a surjery and now i have little bit of problem by walking. I have started doing those excercise which is in the video from today. I hope that this excercise would be helpful for me in my recovery. Thank you
I feel as if this guy was in the navy before…………. cool vid tho
When I do heel raises my toes curl up, I can’t press my heel to the ground in the first exercise
“in 2019, this list helped me decide for the best foot spa scafe.shop/tbfs2019?9E hope it helps you out too!”
I would recommend that I used it and saw the effect too.

Doc is it ok to do that exercise because im already at 12 weeks post operation of achilles tendon? Is it also ok to walk inside our house (for the tendon to stretch) without the aircast boot? Prior to this im also having my therapy every other day..
It would help to say how many times to do each exercise, so your followers can do it when they’re not near a computer!
That toe switch exercise melted my brain! That was so funny! thanks, great vid.
You speak really well! Did you ever think doing English lessons:)! Thanks for the tips I go right away to buy the stuff I need to take care of my feet:) have a good one!
That’s nice if you have dorsiflexion. But I can’t budge my foot even a fraction of an inch to be able to do that.
FINALLY a youtuber who doesn’t own pricy over the top products that are perfectly as capable or even less compared to using natural ingredients from home. Like seriously, not everyone wants to spend so much on something so simple to do using natural stuff and are as effective and less harmful!!
Did you say “don’t” be stupid’ really….talk less would be nice.
they’re pretty easy to do yourself to, I don’t like other people touching my feet.
What if you have no muscle mass in your calfs in order raise your heels or do ankle eversions? Is there anyway how you can make a video with an individual that has drop foot to help give better visuals?
You sounds just like me hahah, I would also rather stay home with my dog!
Thank you so much for mentioning about the fear thing after injury because I have had some of that and know I’m not alone feeling that and I just work so hard at trying to get my strength back yours is the most helpful YouTube I’ve seen so thanks heaps
People who can able to do dorsiflexion and eversion that too against the resistance of thera band doesnt considered to b foot drop they are perfectly fine.so keep your techniques with u and try hard everyday this would b helpfull for you but not for the foot drop patients.
I had a discectomy L4-L5 on May 29th, 2018. I did not have any paralysis prior to surgery. I woke up from surgery and immediately felt a difference. The next day a physical therapist attempted to have me walk up the stairs and it was extremely hard, I couldn’t feel much in my right foot. They released me from the hospital and I went home. I called my doctor because I was in excruciating pain and my right foot was VERY swollen, his office told me it was unrelated to surgery and sent me to my primary care doctor. I went to my primary care doctors office, this was the worse day of my life 4 days post op, and got a scan to check for blood clots. They told me it was ridiculous that I was at their office instead of my surgeons. 1 week post op my surgeon did an MRI, it showed that the disc reherniated which he told me happened on the OR table. He then sent me to get a nerve block the next day. During this time he told me that he nicked the spinal cord during surgery and had to do internal stitching. I was told that my foot drop would go away within a year. It’s been 2 years now and my foot is still paralyzed, my hip flexor also has paralysiswhen I asked him why my hip was the way it is he didn’t have an answer. The calf on my right leg seizes up frequently and locks my foot in an arched position with excruciating Charlie horse like pain. The same thing happens to my hipa spasm usually only when I lay down or sit. My last appointment he told me that my foot will always be paralyzed considering it hasn’t improved thus far. I’m 25 years old and so tired of having this injury, it’s so inconvenient and makes my life miserable. I can’t work out like a normal 25 year old, it’s an extra struggle to drag my foot around to walk. I’ve worn uncomfortable braces, I’ve gone to months and months of physical therapy. I’m just wondering if there is anything at all that might help the nerve recover or exercise/treatment that will stimulate it and bring function back to my leg.
People who have had a stroke get drop foot also, not just MS.
This foot cream is no where to be found.:( I found one seller who had it on Amazon but it’s “currently unavailable”.
Kool Vid!!!I FInd alternate for nurse birthday gift ideas easy

I broke my toe and lost complete bending of the second joint where it grasps. Can I improve?
I watch this so much I can almost recite much of what is said lol (so yes I think it’s helping). Couple observations… Caroline is a bit like an elementary teacher with a bit of a dour streak here.. “you’re smart”. Then, “don’t be stupid” lol. Proly her own self dialogue at the time; also guessing she was just starting to date whoever was shooting this vid for her and they gave her those blinged yoga toes. Sometimes it seems like she was talking more to the camera person lol
Brilliant. Thanks for sharing your sports specific insight.
I injured by big toe many years ago and it never recovered well. I walked on the outside of my foot and it gave me so many problems.
2 weeks into doing this series of exercisers is a life changer
It’s the first time I twisted my ankle heavily, first time I have to use crutches… I’m a dancer so feeling my muscles relaxing so much is scary… What you are saying in this video is so helpful… Thank you!!!
T.A surgery done 52 days before, wound healed, help me for simple exercise.
Because of front foot injury before 3 months I walked putting maximum pressure on my heel. After recovery of injury now I developed bad habit of putting pressure backward.I can walk upward comfortably on stairs but on flat surface there is painful pressure on my calf muscles & heel.So I can’t move forward easily on flat surface. What can I do now?Is there any exercise for this? Please help me..!!
Please suggest me
Or guide me
Or answer me
Please please please
I’m confused. Can’t these stretches rerupture from over stretching? It’s already snapped, what is being stretched? I’m 5 weeks post rupture so I’m not sure if I should be doing this!
Thank you for all you do,you have no idea, found you by accident n now you are part of my therapy every day
A LINK TO BUY THE BANDS PLEASE…. I STOPPED GOING TO MY THERAPIST, I GOT BETTER INFO FROM YOU –
It has been a year since I’ve worked and on my third week on my new job, I injured my ankle from standing too much and too long. Your videos have been helping me a lot! Thank you! ❤️
This was so pleasing to view. I haven’t focused on my foot care for a couple months and I think it’s time I do that soon. I do want to purchase a foot scrub product (or make my own). I’ve wanted to do my toe nails for quite some time since it’s gotten cold and I’ve purchased a new polish.
Hello doctor please help me! I am very nervous these days.2 month ago I ran on 2 km hill with heavy weight and immediately take rest after race keeping my foot down below bed.My calf muscles still numb, heavy & tingle after 2 month.I also twisted my right foot that time due to that numbness while standing after rest.Sprained Foot ( X ray shows no fracture) is also red and swellon after 2 months. I had lower limb color Doppler ultrasound which is normal. What can I do now? Please share vedio link for regarding my “foot swelling with light Pain” and tight / heavy/vibrating calf muscle recovery exercises..Thanx & Regards.God Bless You!
I watch yr feet exercise because I am trying to strengthen my right foot especially cause having surgery need lots rehab to get it better. And yr videos help a lot:) thank you:)
I did buy a steeper from Amazon but I think it was wrong thing to do. I think yr exercise, just walking is better to do.
hi i have a question on how many exercises should one with MS perform daily to stay fit or active. In the past i did a lot a lot of stretching and felt brilliant after it but then my motivation got lost and it seems that i cannot find new ways to stay active. Im also disturbed by every little noise. Should i perform every day the same exercises or should i switch them (legs one day, hands the other and so on)? thanks in advance:D:D:D
Thank you for helping me strengthen my feet and ankles. Also love your Leggins! Could you please tell me where to get such?
Hi Jeff, I love your kind, positive attitude and how motivating you are. It’s really helpful to those of us that are scared/depressed/frustrated by our symptoms. I’m pre-diagnosis with suspected Primary Progressive MS. I’ve had a slow decline for 9 years and getting closer to disability, so I’m doing lots of these exercises while I still have my mobility. I’ve read some good success stories where building strength helps managing symptoms, and may even mean further years of mobility. I hope it also brings benefits to those that are in later stages of the disease.
Foot drop is a remnant of Central NERVOUS system damage,,,Functional anatomy is affected at that level
Loved this! I am 5 months postpartum, so I’m exercising to get my body back to normal, I dont want to do them everyday so I wi’ll be doing these stretches twice a week ❤ Thank you darling
I’ve had foot stress fractures since the end of May. Because my bones keep cracking, doctors found I have osteoporosis (at 55!). They said to do resistance exercises. Could I use those exercises to prevent bone density loss?
She’s so cute, love her personality
(◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
Great pedicure tips too
Wow this whole time I coudint figure out my hip pain tightness etc I even thought ankles but forgot about the feet i feet better already thanks.
But I do have a question when i sit on my feet i get pain on the top of the foot is that area weak
I was looking through comments and I didn’t find an answer to my question. Backstory: about 4 months ago I had a bad ankle roll and it ended up damaging an achilles tendon a little bit. When it comes to ankle/achilles strengthening exercises, how often should they be done? How often should I rest? And what is a good sign that I can start increasing intensity.
How can I determine if it is a tandem rupture Vs. something else?
This really helped me! I fractured my tibia on new years eve and I was in a cast, boot, and brace over the course of around 6 months. My left toes are really weak now and this video really helped me!! ;w; thank you!!!
Hi, I’ve been shot accidentally by an ak47. I’ve lost strength in my left left but gained great strength in my right. My toes on my rigjt foot are stiff really hard to bend the big toe box matter how hard I bend will not bend upward. My left leg is weaker when I lay on my left side I’m able to slowly move it up and down. But when I’m sitting in bed I can lift my knee at all or pick my leg up off the bed do you believe there is a surgery or a way I can get the muscles working so I can start walking again I have strength in my thigh I can control the muscle just below the knee on the left leg is what’s keeping me from standing. I would appreciate any advice you have or opinions on if I have a good chance of walking again.
Thanks
You are very good at this. It please could you confirm how many weeks post surgery you can do this? It looks like you’ve had your boot off for a while.im six weeks post bunion surgery and have only just had my boot off.I certainly can hardly bend my big toe.please let me know
Some pervs here are here just to watch her feet. Go Get A Life!!!!
This was great. I would love/(I really need) a good back strength/posture workout. Please:)?
What about standing on a high step and letting hang the heels all the way down ( with the toes serving as support) till one feels the pull?
This and your other hurt foot videos really helped me. After a 2 month break from dancing due to an injury I came back with better balance and turns. (Also, foot grip strength that can crush a grown man, thanks Caroline!)
Hi dr jo god bless you this is the video iam looking for my daughter has 9y old she can’t walk properly she didn’t put left leg properly she rise the foot she walk with toes can this exercise help her she will walk properly soon please replay me and prey for my daughter
Did today your work-out 1,2,3 on hurt foot and this one.You are a genius! My body is more tight, and I had a lower back pain in plus and that is ALMOST GONE, by we made my hips stronger, the noises from my spine I was getting two weeks ago when I started your program, its way lessen, actually I feel I do have hip. _ Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!!!
Caroline. Thank you. I fractured my ankle last July. Everything healed up and thanks to you I’m improving foot strength, balance and ankle mobility.
I love your videos. You are awesome!
Thanks again for helping to motivate me and really kick start a true ankle recovery.
K
I have foot drop since 15 months ago
Made a faradic since April 2017 until april 2018 and there is no positive result until now..
We had spotted that the common pronoir nerve is injered
Plz ı want the way to finish this
I’m recovering from a stroke were I was completely paralyzed on my right size. I did rehab in a facility for 3 months. I’m now walking pretty much perfect and it’s only been February since my stroke My physio did these exercises with me when I started regaining strength. They totally work and you have taught them well. Congrats!
Even after doing it twice, I feel relief in my strained tendon. Thanks for this. Doing it with you is not so boring as doing it alone!
I had my cast removed yesterday after a period of 7 weeks, I will try that.
Can you tell me what might possibly cause pain around base of back heel area? I have had plantar fasciitis and do not think this is it. Thanks
Hi doc I have a very painful Achilles tendon for about a year. Finally had it checked out there is a vertical tear about 17 millimeters long is it possible to rehab this without having surgery?
thanks so much i didn’t realize that my knee pain was connected to my feet! i appreciate your positivity. My Yoga toes will be here soon!
Does anyone find their footdrop is worse with flip-flops or sandals (open toe shoes).
Thank you so much for these videos! They are really helping my injured ankles!
thank you for so much for you to show some of the very good proper movements was for me to see if I could manage to do some of them for so much. and I just hope that we’ll be a lot all right for some time for tomorrow then.
Wonderful video….has helped tremendously. I had bunion surgery and want to condition myself for my favorite thing: Argentine tango and afro Cuban dance!!!!! My feet love again!
Great video. I had surgery for fully ruptured Achilles. I just got out of the splint and into the boot a few days ago. I’ll start doing the stretching but should I be doing the balancing exercises right away too or more massage and stretching?
also a tip for people with cankles or thicker ankles like myself who want to slim it down or not make it any bigger. if you like to go running on the treadmill a lot, the incline of your machine matters so try not to make it too steep or if it’s too steep don’t run at it for too long. (lol learned this the hard way haha!)
I am suffering from shin splints, do you have any exersice for this?
Feet like her does not even need a pedicure.
Lots of loooveee!
Plz tell About CAlcAneal back heel spur pain complete relief
Thank you so much Caroline, I’m a cashier and this helps me at the end of most days
if i do these two exercises without a band is it also effective or not?
Oh stop far too late for that by the time you’re having pain walking.
Just what my body needed after three months of training with your awesome videos! Love your creativity, balance, movement and stability training combinations! Loved the stretches where you include flowing arms, legs for deeper stretching! You have such a tremendous balance in your fitness! Recommending your channel to everyone I know…my 47 years on up crowd of fitness friends! Rawr from those who wanna stay fit at every age!
thanks, i did this today and my feet feel great, how often shall i do this?
Is this okay to do for basketball players? Is it okay to do this if u don’t have Achilles injury (prevention purposes)
People are saying that I cant lift my feet in school does this have anything related to foot drop?
I’m so glad I found you! These exercises helped so much! I’ve got mid foot arthritis.. My feet are feeling happy after a really long time!
I am 83 years old and my right footdrop is more than 40 years old I could not even more any toe so the exercise ankle Inversion is impossible to do.
Great workout! It was fun too. Thank you for sharing words of wisdom and motivation!:)
As expert, I do believe Custokebon Secrets is actually great way to lost a ton of weight. Why don’t you give it a shot? maybe it’ll work for you too.
I have foot drop from a severely ruptured disc, surgery was 3 weeks ago. I’m hoping these exercises help. I can lift my toes fine, but have a really hard time getting my heel off the floor if I try to stand on my toes on my right leg. Walking is difficult, my doctor said it can take up to 5+ years and sometimes it never gets better.
I understand you have to come up with something new to get it watched but the content of this video is ridiculous.
I’d rather stay at home with my lovely little cat too sweetie xx
Hey girl! I hope by now you are totally recovered from your injury. Whatever it was, it sucks but bad things happen for good reasons. This is just what I needed! You are such an adorable sunshine! I am going to follow you on FB.
BTW, I rolled my ankle running like 3 years ago and it never really got 100% again and then I got Plantar Fasciitis from running downhill like a cuckoo (it was worth it, I got a belt buckle for that:D) now I am done with hurting and I want to get well. Your exercises will help me. THANKS!
You are best. I am glad I found my new best friend. Muscles always hurt and your videos are helping. I just subscribe today
I injured my knee 7 weeks ago and apparently injured my peroneal nerve as well. I wasn’t able to move my foot or toes up at all. Not even a tiny bit. As of week 5, I can move my toes slightly. Very slightly, but it’s something. However, is it normal to be able to move my toes before my ankle? I still have no movement in my ankle. Again, my foot drop is not due to MS. It is due to a knee injury. Doctor says I will heal 100%, but it’s unnerving to not be able to control a part of your body….
Are these really safe for a ruptured tendon? I feel like these would be better rehab exercises during recovery phase. I currently have a ruptured Achilles tendon and I feel that if i tried doing these it would make it worse by tearing any fibers that might be left or cause the muscle to retract and roll up.
i am a stroke patient. foot drop exercise is useful for me. i am trying. thanks.
Great and helpful video!! Do you have any recommendations for every day shoes for weak ankles/feet with a high arch? I struggle to find supportive, cute shoes that I can wear, other than the shoes I use to work out.
