My beef bacon when I am in bacon burnout with my eggs.. Sadler’s Smokehouse sliced mesquite smoked brisket. 0g carb, 21g protein and 19g fat. Low temperature cooked in the smoker. Not a fake bacon, the taste stands on it’s own and is great with eggs. Most other smoked brisket brands use sugar based rubs to season their briskets sugar is totally absent from Sadler’s ingredients labels.

I think it would be best if Thomas would specify that he is talking about factory-farmed pigs and turkeys. Turkeys on small farms who are pasture-raised, have a stellar diet and are not fattened up the way that their conventionally-raised counterparts are. Yeah… I discovered that turkey bacon isn’t good a few days ago. For several years I’ve been eating turkey bacon thinking that it’s healthier than pork bacon because I gave up eating pork many many years ago. So how I found out that it’s not is because I have long water fasting experience and what that does to you for starters. It morphed me to a keto lifestyle. So being on keto, I am now eating a bit of pork again.
So far, just pork rinds to replace junk food, which is real food masquerading as junk food, and pork bacon or bacon fat sometimes. I can’t see consuming anymore pork than that because I’ve been off it for so long. But I had some turkey bacon left in the fridge and ate some for a snack a few days ago. And what happened soon after was acid reflux. That’s when I knew that the turkey bacon got to go. That it’s not real food. So I can now tell which foods are good and which are bad because a bad food will trigger acid reflux in me and good food doesn’t.
I want to lose belly fat, but not bulk up, just tone, I have always had an issue with willpower.

If one is obese and they start on a Keto diet, should the fat intake still be, as they say, 70 percent. It would seem logical (and I could be wrong) that since the person is obese, they would want to burn the fat that is already stored in their body instead of adding more to it. Then once all that fat is burned, go to the 70% for a more maintenance diet instead of weight loss. What’s your thoughts on this?

You really have to stop saying that Butcher Box is cheaper than the grocery store. It may be in California for whatever reason, but it is MANY times more expensive than we pay in Texas. I wanted to try to justify it, but best case I could put together made Butcher Box about 3-4 times more expensive than the grocery store. That was with trying to maximize the cost savings. On average I’d wager it is about 7 times more expensive.
Promote it as good meat if you like, but it is patently dishonest to claim that it is cheaper than the grocery store.

I just started IF with a Keto diet. I’m eating every third day. One thing that’s great about this protocol…is that I have 2 days to plan and shop for my meals. And I’m saving tons of money in the process while at the same time eating much higher quality food. If I were eating 3 meals a day and trying to have no carbs, starches or sugars…..that’s literally all I would be able to think about. Eff that!!

Eggs and Beans/peas are the protein sources in my home. Sometimes full fat dairy products, but not as often since I had to sell my goats. Sometimes nuts but I had to move away from my farm, so I couldn’t harvest the Black Walnuts this past fall, or the filberts. So I’m not going to be able to afford nuts this winter. Once in a while I get to go out to eat, and I usually can get some kind of fish, not always salmon, and I have no idea if it is wild or farmed… But now I know for sure to avoid Tilapia. I always knew it was a trash fish, but I didn’t know about the steroid aspect. The 2 together are enough to put me off.
Cut back your carbs, and increase vegs and salads, eliminate most of your sugars, exercise every day and your off to a great start. Keto diets may work be good for weight loss because of limited sugars and carbs, but red meat may drastically shorten your life…do your own research…check out David Sinclair books. He is way ahead of any keto diets.

I like your videos and your knowledge of a lot of things regarding health. But turkey bacon as well as beef bacon would be the best thing going for you to eat especially on keto! The swine should never be swallowed down anyone’s throat… Pork bacon shouldn’t even be considered as a healthy alternative. Pork is not meat, or a food to eat. This is plain misinformation! Your numbers are wrong and the comparison off! You compare the carbs of some yogurt (which from the context must be the Bulgarian) of unknown fat (tape is ripped) with 10g of carbs (!!), 5g (!!!!) of which is sugar with a 0% fat yogurt (allegedly greek) with 21g of sugar.
Everyone knows that 0% products have more sugar to compensate for the taste.
But most importantly Greek yogurt with 2%-10% fat lies between 3%-4% carbs all of which are natural sugars (just search on-line all 2%-10% greek yogurts of international brands like Mevgal or Total). 21g of Carbs you find in fruit yogurts or some other similar crap and not in the so called “Greek” yogurt. Maybe you should reconsider what you consider as such or try to find better products. Here in Germany e.g. there are so many Greek-Style yogurts which is total crap.

The turkey bacon I have from Jennie O, which can be bought at the Dollar Tree for a dollar, has a few more technical terms for their ingredients than the other bacon pieces I have in the fridge. I am not sure if it is a company thing or a turkey thing, as the bacon pieces is made by a different company, but the more chemicals or ingredients, especially with scientific names, the less natural and on the whole the less healthy it is for you.
My friend has food delivered to help him lose weight. Everything is low or no fat with a ton of bread. He’s gained weight on the program. I intermittent fast and eat bacon somewhat often and have lost about 30lbs in two months.

I use Bulgarian yogurt as a starter for my own homemade yogurt that I make out of A2 cow’s milk, or sheeps or goat’s milk when I can get it. I love it! I let it go for at least 14 hours and it turns out so tart and thick.

i so wish I did all this right when i was young..i was obese since a kid too…I’ve tried so many diets and programs…and i won’t say they didn’t work…weight watchers had some really good healthy recipes and groups. but it all gets expensive and seems i just don’t stick it out for the long hall. now I’m older…I’ve severely injured myself and have chronic nerve pain which has left me somewhat disabled and also the primary care giver for my husband who is completely disabled in a wheelchair from a brain aneurysm. basically I”m doing what I can to help him…lifting and basic care…and back to the couch cause my pains so bad I can’t even sit too long. at my age I’m not sure if i could do this now..I’m exhausted…i guess the one good thing that came outta all of my pain is I lost 33lbs without even realizing it over past 2 years cause I’m just to exhausted to eat much anymore…and I have changed a great deal of eating habits but still not totally keeping proper track and getting as much veggies in…which i use to hate so at least I’m trying. i use a lot less meat…do things like grate up carrots, finely chop spinach or cabbage in things alot..like sauces or meatballs, chilli…do it doubles the sauce sometimes just doing things like that. but i’m not really into eating a plate of plain broccoli or even salads every day. here and there I don’t mind. i tell u…i could lose weight pretty fast when I was younger..but now its so much more difficult and I can’t be as active but i hope i can somehow be able to put the energy and strength into it again. in order for me to like the food i do have to make the effort…and i think with the foods u eat probably has to do with the fact ur major working out. lets hope even the changes I’ve learned and made lil by lil in my life will get me somewhere anyhow…all together I did lose 100 lbs about 10 years ago…but gained 34 back cause i really lost too much too fast and then got real sick…but like i said..last 2 years i lost the weight I gained (33.6) lol.

As for oxidation, depends on quality, harvest date, and how it’s stored. I have bought Greek EVOO from Trader Joe’s that is 60 to 90 days fresh from pack date. In a study that involves heating all different cooking oils at 240*C (464*F) for 360 minutes, EVOO is just as good for high heat cooking as coconut oil. It have very slightly more oxidation than coconut oil, but produces less toxic compounds like aldehydes, this is due to existing antioxidants compounds in the extra virgin oil. Not counting animal fats, EVOO is on par with coconut oil for high heat cooking and beats every other cooking oils including avocado oil.

At 68 years old lean, burning ketones the last 3 months; I say Right On! for this clip…. I recently discovered I could gain weight that I had not intended to lose; by adding Producer’s brand Heavy Whipping Cream to my diet. Just 1 cup (16 Tbsp ) of this cream matched up to about a third of my calorie needs in a day (about 66% of its’ Total Fats is Saturated Fats w 0% carbs). I got into blending cream, almond milk and whey isolate, and adding small amounts of cream to coffee with oils to top up my fat intake. The Cronometer App showed me how my previous fat intake was too low for my weight gain targets…. I am Now wondering about the Pros and Cons of leaning on Heavy Whipping Cream for a third of my daily fat needs. I have memory of you cautioning to not lean on dairy. I think Heavy Whipping Cream leaves the potential inflammation making casein protein behind with the milk it came from. This is a lie. Most brands of Turkey bacon have almost no saturated fat and are low in sodium. Just go look at the nutritional facts of turkey bacon. I don’t even eat it, I just hate when people lie. It is a processed food though.

I use the uncured pork bacon, very little preservatives. I don’t like turkey bacon. Lay strips close on cookie sheet, put in oven turn oven on 400 after bacon is in oven, it will fry in it’s on oil, turn tray, done in about 15 min. Evenly cooked, line tray with foil for easy cleanup.
i use to make these all the time but with whole wheat toast, and just one meat like either ham or bacon..but the bad bacon. lol. good with tomato or tomato lettuce too..my friend calls it farmers sandwich.

Interesting to know. I probably don’t eat enough bacon to worry much about changing what I do, but I will now consider ethically raised (local) pork bacon when I can find/afford it. It’s not like turkeys are raised in a great situation either….

How i do it. I use bagel thins.. then I add either protein cream cheese, Greek cream cheese, or laughing cow cheese. Fried egg, and Canadian bacon. So good. I do it often. I actually usually do it open faced so I have two eggs as well for more protein. And sometimes I add the everything but the bagel seasoning.

I find a lot of foods can fit into your Marcos’s by taking out butter and oil and replacing ingredients with better alternatives. Today I had a meatball sub with just a light roll, 93/7 lean beef, reduced fat mozzarella and organic tomato sauce. It’s all about the ingredients you’re using.

The good news about yogurt (including Bulgarian yogurt) is that you only have to buy it once. From there, you can use the original to keep making more at home thus saving a ton of money.

I make a similar breakfast maybe twice a week using English muffin, egg, cheese and sliced chicken or pastrani, better that than a fast food option. Avocado often on breakfast menu too. I’ve done extremely well with weight loss without tracking macros. I mean I gotta live a happy life, food makes my happy!! And exercising. If you can’t find bagel thins use a regular bagel cut it in half, share it.

I am confused.. As I have read in books it says saturated fat clog ur arteries and causes risk for heart infarction.
But in the keto diet… Should we eat meat with fat? And even if you are not that strict on the keto diet, still eating a bit potato and rice will it be potentially more harmful than if I was on a proper keto diet and eating saturated fat?
